(Great Album, not-so-great packaging) 『I got introduced to this album in 1992, when it first came out. It was by accident as I sent in my alpine deck to get serviced and when I got it back, one of the technicians had left their "Check Your Head" tape inside the deck, the second I turned it on and I liked it so much that I went out and bought the cd soon afterwards. This album is the Beastie Boy's next best album after Paul's Boutique. The remastering is pretty good but I didn't like the B-sides at all. It's as if they decided to put those together when they were drunk and stoned, while inviting a bunch of amateurs to join in. The album is still superb but the packaging isn't as it's hard to get the cd's out every time you want to listen to them and the packaging get's easily dented up every time you try to store it. I can never understand how the record companies operate, if they're trying to go all "Environmental", then why use up so much paper to make this packaging, when they can simply make it into a high-gloss booklet that inserts into a plastic jewel case, just like the way they did the Paul's Boutique album, so that the artwork will be protected and not fade out with time.』

Department store employees Bud Abbott and Lou Costello bluff their way into her confidence and then travel to Africa, along with her team of explorers, including Joe Besser, Max and Buddy Baer, Shemp Howard, Frank Buck and Clyde Beatty, eventually running into a tribe of cannibals. The film is not any where near the best work that Abbott&Costello have done; in fact, to call it one of their `lesser' efforts is an overstatement. It is a one-joke film with Abbott&Costello doing their usual, yet funny, shtick. Hillary Brooke and Shemp Howard are wasted in minor roles, as is Joe Besser, although both he and Howard are funny as always in the brief time they have on screen. The Baer brothers, Frank Buck and Clyde Beatty are there simply to show off the talents of each of them and do not add much of anything to the film, which, incidentally, feels less like a movie and more like an extended television episode for their future television show. This is the first version I've seen with the Nassour Studios logo opening the film and it has closed-captioning, as well. I skip the colorized version, as I oppose that sort of thing. However, Legend Films has made this one worth the wait. The scene where the tribal chief is scared white by the giant gorilla is here intact, as well, whereas I've often seen it where his face has been blurred over with darkness. I've found this to be a fine film of the team's, as opposed to, say, MEXICAN HAYRIDE or LITTLE GIANT. If you're still hunting a fine print of AFRICA SCREAMS for your A&C collection ... well, here it is.』

Stanley Livington remembers that detail very well (too good to be true?). [The story and its subject are certainly dated.] Clyde Beatty plays himself. Shemp Howard plays another near-sighted character (like his role in a "Blondie" movie). There are plenty of gags to amuse the viewers. Buzz overhears Diana talking about the real purpose of the expedition - its not for a giant orangutan. Frank Buck plays himself. There are comic situations, most are still funny. There is a very comic scene with a lion skin and a real lion. Clyde Beatty does his lion taming act.
After this the boys find diamonds just laying on the ground. They follow the trail to where it leads. The natives have them over for dinner. A secret friend unties them. There is more intrigue and comic chases. More fun results from a failure to communicate. The natives are appalled by a giant gorilla, and flee. Buzz takes off down the river on a raft. What will happen to poor Stanley now?

Our previous video recorder never entirely satisfied me because it never let in enough light to make the picture look good. The only complaint I have so far is that the auto-focus isn't perfect...if you watch really close you can see moments where the focus adjusts just enough for a fraction of a second to cause a slight blurring only to readjust back to fully in focus. I haven't been able to identify a trend or reason for this yet so I'm left to assume right now that it's just something in the camera you have to deal with. Time will tell. Even with that, I still gave it a 5 because in my family you can't always have the light where it should be so to have a camera be able to record a crisp video from any angle is essential for anyone with kids.』

(Worst Business Accounting Program Ever) 『I will preface this by stating that I have never submitted a product review before, but feel so strongly about Peachtree Premium Accounting 2008 that I am submitting this review.
This is simply the very worst business accounting software I have ever used.
I am a finance professional by trade and the interface in this software makes little sense. There is no editable transaction ledger for non-cash accounts. For example, if your business has a credit card, you will enter each transaction (as a "check") while not being able to see other transactions. If you want to view the history of the account, you have to generate a report and if it doesn't reconcile, it is VERY VERY difficult to get to the erroneous transaction. The makers of this software have very clearly never run a small business.
Also of note, the company data is stored in a series of files, not one file, and cannot be stored on a file server (Peachtree won't open it). You HAVE to store the files on a system with Peachtree installed.
Finally, after registering this software, you will be inundated with offers for support packages for the software.』
(This is a downgrade. Excruciatingly slow!) 『I have been a Peachtree customer for over 17 years. I had not upgraded for a few years and felt this would be the time to do so. Some of the new features looked quite attractive. The first thing I noticed after insalling the multi-user version on my network is that they had changed the datbase from the Novell btrieve format to Pervasive SQL. I thought this would be good as I have usually noticed SQL databases run faster. Boy was I mistaken. The program ran so slow it was unusable. Different windows might take 30 seconds to pop up and another screen would take 20 seconds to save. The confusing thing was the behavior was not consistent it would run fast for a few transactions then revert to running slow. Peachtree technical support told me my server was not fast enough to handle the new version even though all my other software programs ran fine on the network. I should have been suspicious because Peachtree ran this slow even when I was the only one using the network. Nevertheless, I bought a new $3,600 Server and much to my dismay Peachtree ran just as slow. Then Peachtree Technical support claimed it was my network switch so I bought a newer one for $650. No improvement. I could see what was coming next. They claimed it was my workstations. I was about to upgrade the 3 bookkeeping computers anyway so I spent $1,950 each to buy very fast systems for the 3 of them. Still no change. I have searched around the Internet and found that I am not the only one to have these problems. It seems that the newest versions of Peachtree with the Pervasive SQL database where only designed to be run in Single user mode and not on a network. They built the network functions on later. I am very upset with Peachtree technical support for lying to me. If they would have told me the truth that there where some problems with the network abilities in the new version of Peachtree and that they were working on them, I would have saved thousands of dollars in new hardware that they claimed I needed. The last thing they told me was that I just needed to upgrade to Peachtree Quantum Accounting because it ran much faster. That would cost me thousands more. They must be kidding. I will never trust them again. My old version ran fine but they tell me there is now way to downgrade my data files. I am looking around for another brand of software now. The interface is pretty good and the drawback comes from the fact that you have to try different software applications until you find one that works on USB. The product, OBD2 ALL-IN-ONE scan tool did just what it was designed to do. It connects between the cars OBD2 port and my notebook computer. I loaded the drivers and software and the car was talking to my computer within a few minutes. The tool "found" the problem and I was able to fix the problem.
