The other two reviews point out the obvious but this amazing inexpensive product has many, many uses. Great for keeping hose snags and runs in check. I also use a small amount on buttons to keep from having to sew them back on. Or other smaller rips, tears. It even stands up to washing without having to re-apply. I am not a "sew-er"! Anything that can keep me from picking up needle&thread is priceless in my world and Fray Check, much like a hardware product called, "Never Seez", is one of the world's best kept secrets.
Working with ribbons, my main problem was stopping the ends from fraying. We all know about using heat or a flame to avoid this; but a flame burns the threads unevenly, so for stuff that was going to be sold was unhelpful.
I discovered Fray Check by accident, but I know I am going to keep using it!
It's a clear alcohol-based sealant, that applied to the ends of the ribbon avoids the fraying. It doesn't leave any residue (invisible after drying) and the threads don't appear sticky or hardened after using it - same feeling to the touch as the rest of the ribbon. Excellent product!

After taking a costume practicum at the University I attend, I must say that I really do appreciate this item. If you are trying to work with materials that fray exceedingly easy, this little and wonderful item will stop that fraying right away. Apply it right after you cut your material and then just give it time to dry. It dries clear and your edges no longer fray away. We primarily used it on cording that loved to fray apart after we cut it, but it works just as well on regular fabrics too.
Put an end to fraying with this colorless liquid-plastic solution. Withstands dry cleaning and machine washing.

The duvet is fine... but it's not the dark green color the picture shows. It's a yellowish light green, almost gold in some lights. I don't like the color at all. I wrote to Marrikas and they wouldn't allow me to return it because I'd opened it. So I'm stuck with it.

I love music as it is a hobby and I collect all various types of genres. A friend who knows how well I enjoy the early influences of music told me about the CD. I have known about Henry Jerome's music and I had to add this to my collection. I'm 47 years old and though I wasn't born when these songs were recorded, I enjoyed listening to the songs and the air checks and broadcasts. At one pint, when a special news bulletin broke in on track 4, I found myself fixated on the report and realized, it wasn't in the present! The arrangements are professionally quilted where each instrument comes in at the right time almost as if the music were talking to you. You'll find that each song has its own character and its own definition. You know how some bands perform a song and each one sounds the same? The songs on this CD collectio0n are different from one another. You will not be bored and you will be inspired to get up and dance. Treat yourself to some great music! You will not be sorry! This CD is a must have!
I like most have read the stories of the Henry Jerome Band with Alan Greenspan and Len Garment in the saxophone section. It was both out of curiosity and a being a long time fan of Al Cohn and Tiny Kahn that I purchased this CD. I must admit I was quite surprised at the album. The band is very modern with touches of the later Elliot Lawrence and Chubby Jackson bands. The section work is clean and the arrangements were pushing the envelope. The band is particularly striking considering these airshots were made in 1944 and 1945. Before the Eckstine group. The solos are good but unidentified. I hear a few Prez like tenorings that might be Al Cohn.

In general, this is an historic release that sheds light on early modern big bands. It is also good music.
(There's only one FIRST-- It's Jazz History) These are live radio air checks--there has never been a commercial record released. You will actually hear live announcements&station breaks between tracks. Before Rock, Bebop was THE Cool Music. Henry made Jazz History when he organized&led the First Big Band to ever orchestrate&play "Bebop" which in those days was only being played by Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker&a few other black combos on New York's 52nd St., while Henry's big band was playing at the huge Child's Paramount Restaurant (capacity 2,000) which was under the Paramount Theater, Times Square, NYC. Henry's band was heard nationally on Mutual Radio, but there was never a commercial record, never the less it had introduced a new sound. Musicians loved this new music-big band style and packed the place just to listen to the guys making fantastic chord changes and actually playing the changes. That's why it caught ears. The band made a big impact in the Progressive Jazz World and added a whole new dimension to the Big Band's called "Bebop". The bands personnel included those who have achieved great sucess in other fields such as Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of The Federal Reserve, Leonard Garment who was White House Counsel to the late President Richard Nixon, and Larry Rivers, the famous American painter. Some of the Legendary Jazz Greats who played at various periods with the band included musician&Hollywood composer Johnny Mandel who wrote "Shadow Of Your Smile" and the theme from "Mash, Al Cohn, Tiny Kahn, Stan Levy, Jack Eagle, better known as "Brother Dominick" on the Zerox TV Commercials, Norm Faye, Gene Roland, Many Fox, Paul Cohen Marty Napoleon, Bill Vitale, Ray Turner and Gerry Mulligan who was not on the payroll but sat in with the band frequently. Vocalists included David Allyn, Gordon Polk&Bob Stewart. Arrangers included Al Cohn Johnny Mandel, Bill Vitale, Gene Roland, Tiny Kahn and many others. Some of the musicians from Henry's band joined other big bands such as Boyd Raeburn, Gene Krupa&Woody Herman and their musical imput , both as players and arrangers, influenced the sounds of these bands. Progressive Jazz was on its way, not only as an accepted jazz form, but as a major influence in popular music. Ira Gitler, the Jazz Authority, wrote many pages about Henry's band in his book "Swing to Bob". Ira Gitler writes "Bebop was an expression of finest Black musical minds.".

Accu-Chek Compact Drum Plus Blood Glucose Self-Monitoring System Because of the expense of test strips Mom has ended up with an assortment of meters. This one is definitely her favorite.
Almost fully automatic.

My fancy One-Touch Ultra died, so my Ins Co sent me this one for free.

I LOVE the idea of having 17 strips on board, and how it automates the process.

Unit works well. It does what it is supposed to do.

Two minor issues:

1. The strips are the slowest 'sippers' I've ever seen. You can sit there with the entire end dunked in a big puddle of blood, and it can take 5-10 seconds for it to register. This really needs to be addressed with improved strips.

2. I've used a lot of lancet devices, and I HATE this one. It is clumsy as all get out. At least it has an ejector function. My old one's didn't, and I was forever stabbing myself trying to get the old lancet out.

Why Accu-Check didn't pair their very cool "Six-Shooter" with this drum strip reader is beyond my understanding. The "Six-Shooter" (aka MultiClix) lancet device uses drums like this reader, and holds 6 lancets that are automatically cycled with each pull of the 'trigger'. Even better, the sharp edges are never exposed, even after use.

I just ordered one for $15 from Amazon, as well as a box of Lancet drums.

Finally, it's a shame this one doesn't have a computer interface.
I decided to purchance a blood glucose test machine recently. I don't have diabeties, but since I am 40, and overweight, I decided to shell out some money and get a tester nothertheless to see what my blood sugar readings looked like. I wanted something easy, inexpensive, and worked.

This did it all. The machine comes with easy to follow instructions on how to get started and how to operate. I never needed to look up anything other than the "basic starting instructions" that come in the manual.

They looked like this..
1) How to turn on your machine and use it
2) How to test using included base sample mix
3) How to put in the 15 use drum and change the needle
4) How to test your blood

pretty easy. After reading it over got it up and running in about 10 minutes. No sweat. The reader comes with a 15 use test strip drum, a carrying case, a pack of 30 or so needle tabs (i don't remember what these are called). Poke needles are easy to insert in the side plunger mechanism. Take off cap, insert needle, twist, put cap back on.. To remove it after use, simple remove cap and push plunger down, needles drops into trash so you can insert another.

After inserting the drum with the test strips pushing the main button is all it takes to put out another test strip. Once done, pushing the button again drops the test strip out, and turns off until next use. Takes about 10 seconds to put in a needle and test your blood. Very quick and easy.

Now, any problems? The only problem I noticed was that the test strip didn't read the drop of blood very fast. You don't need a huge drop, but sometimes it worked right away in a few seconds, sometimes I sat there trying to get it to read for up to 30 seconds or so. The test strips and reader could use a little work on future models, but everything else worked easy and without a hitch.

And my blood glucose during the day ran from about 110-150ish. Not bad.
I was recently diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes and needed a reliable monitor. I am a health care professional and have used commercial Accu-Cheks and thought the Compact Plus would be a good unit. The set up was easy and the instructions were well written and easy to follow. The unit works well but with a few quirks. After the first drum was empty, I changed it with a new 17 strip Roche unit and turned it on. The unit would not accept the code and insisted all blood checks were control checks. I ended up throwing away a new drum and having to use another. Another feature I didn't like was the amount of blood needed for a test and having to precisely place the strip in the blood drop. I have vision problems and and wasted a lot of blood and strips trying to get a test to work. I used this unit for several weeks and ended up buying a Bayer Ascensia Contour which works much better and is much easier to use plus the strips are much cheaper. I compared results with both units and they have the same degree of accuracy. If you have good vision and like technological things, this would be a good unit. I like simple things that are easy to use and the Compact Plus did not meet my needs.

It does an awesome job integrating with my laptop. The interface is pretty good and the drawback comes from the fact that you have to try different software applications until you find one that works on USB. Once you get the right software (freeware) and place the laptop where you get minimal glare or inside the garage it works pretty good diagnosing and troubleshooting.
Do you have a "CHECK ENGINE" light on? You will. And when it does come on you have some choices as to what to do. You can take your car in to get it serviced (and spend more money) or you can get an OBD2 meter (and save money). I looked at a few devices and decided to go to OBD Diagnostics, Inc. The product, OBD2 ALL-IN-ONE scan tool did just what it was designed to do. It connects between the cars OBD2 port and my notebook computer. I loaded the drivers and software and the car was talking to my computer within a few minutes. The tool "found" the problem and I was able to fix the problem. I would have given a five star rating but there was no software docs. If you like to DIY, you need this tool

While Chiun inflicts some unpleasant training on Remo, he must stop a crazed Doctor's plot to take over the world via human enhancement. Some n*zi style s*x blackmail enters into this. Reno and this very loopy scientist enter into an argument with a bit of abuse and philosophy thrown in.

Rather disjointed and not very good.
First, I have to agree with Fred: the original cover art was much better than the current reissue template.

This book did not directly feature Chiun. Remo was on his own. Remo's assessments of the staff at the forum are terrific and only get better when he learns the secret behind their plan to conquer the world.

This is a down and dirty, physical Destroyer who uses his extraordinary skill at fighting and a unique chess move to save the day.
It's good to see a re-issue of an extremely popular series, and "The Destroyer" novels will probably draw interest from history majors as well as those seeking a diversion: Murphy and Sapir tended to use contemporary -- at that time -- social problems and issues as themes.

This novel doesn't properly represent a good start for someone first reading a Destroyer novel (try #3 in the series first), but like #1 in the series, it's essential for the collector and certainly not a waste of money.

There are, however, two minor points I raise. One, the reissue prices are ridiculous for paperbacks. Two, and probably most disappointing, is the decision not to re-issue the original covers. Man, some of that artwork would definitely drive a teenage boy to pick one up.
The big brains behind the business usually have many pots boiling on their stove, or running their think engines as the case may be. But when the business motto of the Brewster forum, "Pursuing Research Into Original Thought", leads them to some eccentric affairs that throw them far enough off track, Remo Williams enlists the help of his Master Chiun to solve a harrowing crime.

(Not the best cozy I've ever read)

(Another entertaining cozy mystery.)

From bad to worse. Kingsbury is just pretty bad at her craft. This time the only saving grace is that the mystery has more meat then in the three previous outings. Yet there are three elements that ruin the book

First can you see an Edwardian Officer leaving the service to run a Pub with a Fuzzy-Wuzzy native wife back in the south of England on the Dover Road? This is how bad it gets. But it is not some minor character to us. It is the beloved son of the heroine. Here we have a modern woman forcing her views on a prior time. If such would happen, it would be so few and far between that it would be extraordinary. Why much up the book with this.

Then we have voodoo. The sticking pins in doll type. That is Haitian or New Orleans voodoo which the author attributes to West Africa. This took me right out of the book. The author just thought to mention something that an educated person would not give credence too. Forcing me to confirm my knowledge and stop my reading. And further find fault with this historical, for it has no bearing on history.

Last, the lower class servant employed at this very uppercrust resort has a POV with this "leaning over him with her tits brushing his shoulder..." while I am sure that lower class men might think of a 1908 bosom as tits, a serving girl in a very respectable establishment. It was beyond vulgar. Again the author took me right out of the story.

So can I recommend this to anyone. Save your money and stay away from this author.
Up to this book I've been enjoying the Pennyfoot Hotel series. I like the seaside Georgian setting, and I like the recurring characters (especially the maid Gertie). This book still has the characters and that is good, but the story was definitely lacking in plot and in suspense. It is almost simplistic in its style, and I did not enjoy that. I love the cozy genre, but I love a multi-layered story that keeps me coming back in order that I can learn what is happening to the characters that I have come to love. This book did not do it for me this time, but I will try some more, and hope for better.
As always Kate Kingsbury manages to throw in some twists to the lives of the inhabitants in the Pennyfoot Hotel. The addition of Cecily's son and African wife and a new charming doorman who comes between Phoebe and Altheada. All the books in this series is worth reading.
Cecily Sinclair, owner of the seaside Pennyfoot Hotel in Edwardian England, returns in a mystery that finds her simultaneously investigating the fall of a gentleman from her top balcony and calming her extremely upset guests.

I purchased VersaCheck 2003 Home&Business after having it recommended as a way that I could print check drafts (checks that I can deposit based upon bank information sent to me by customers). To do this, one must begin a guessing game as to which menu option does what. When I finally get a blank check draft form on the screen and fill it out with the customer provided information, clicking NEXT simply generates a question asking if this is a new customer. Clicking YES presents more forms to fill out, duplicating everything previously entered into the draft form. When finished with this, the draft form is redisplayed but not with the information you just entered... forcing you to re-enter the data yet a third time! Each time I use the program I try to avoid this circular waste of time, but every time I fail. Each time I use the program, the previous customer's information partially fills the draft form (the bank code information) and it's nearly impossible to replace this with the correct information without going through the circular routine. I simply do not have the time to play this game. One of the other functions of this program that I thought I might use is the one where you can print your own checks (including some that may be used with other check writing programs such as Quicken, QuickBooks and Microsoft Money). I have tried this with the first two and found it rather difficult to set up but in the end, it worked quite well producing usable checks that I could run through my printer. Unfortunately, VersaCheck wants you to use itself for your accounting needs (check writing) and I found this"feature"very cumbersome to avoid because all the menu items (and icons) aim you in this direction.

This isn't a "False Fly" boxer. It's a NO FLY boxer. "False Fly" people means "No Buttons" but there IS supposed to be a fly.

These cost the same, but aren't your quality "Brooke Brothers" flannels. Compared to every other brand of flannel boxers I've bought these, I got Mediums, are tight in the buns. So I guess you'd say they run a bit "small"

You're paying for high end boxers but getting walmart quality.

This is an over all good product except for when I recieved it in the mail the top and side of the case was cracked. Not to big of a deal though. also over time and if not too careful the chips may scratch or the stick insert peel. Only one of mine did though. Anyway these chips look so cool when you use them you must buy them despite the flaws because there will always be somthing wrong with a product. thank you for your time and i hope this helps you!
