(A Pleasant Surprise, Especially Dunaway) 『This was surprisingly entertaining and with a few minor exceptions, very inoffensive family fare. It's another one of those adults-and-kids-can-both-enjoy flicks with a number of lines that border on being too much for kids but are still tame for adults - close, but safe. There are also some funny special effects and some good slapstick humor.
Being basically a kids' film, the main child, played by Eric Lloyd is cute but a little too spoiled for me but he's tolerable, as is his brother. Jason Alexander is the father, a very likable subdued guy but a little too lenient.
The real surprise in this cast is Faye Dunaway. Usually playing hard-edged types, she is the opposite in here which is kind of refreshing to see. She shows a nice comedic touch. The chimpanzee is probably the most entertaining, which is the idea, but so is the villain played by Rupert Evert. In other words, there are a lot of likable characters in this movie.
This a "sleeper:" an underrated film that a lot of people would enjoy. I'm sorry it never got much "press."』

(Very convienient, but a few small issues (not show stoppers)) 『My fancy One-Touch Ultra died, so my Ins Co sent me this one for free.
I LOVE the idea of having 17 strips on board, and how it automates the process.
Unit works well. It does what it is supposed to do.
Two minor issues:
1. The strips are the slowest 'sippers' I've ever seen. You can sit there with the entire end dunked in a big puddle of blood, and it can take 5-10 seconds for it to register. This really needs to be addressed with improved strips.
2. I've used a lot of lancet devices, and I HATE this one. It is clumsy as all get out. At least it has an ejector function. My old one's didn't, and I was forever stabbing myself trying to get the old lancet out.
Why Accu-Check didn't pair their very cool "Six-Shooter" with this drum strip reader is beyond my understanding. The "Six-Shooter" (aka MultiClix) lancet device uses drums like this reader, and holds 6 lancets that are automatically cycled with each pull of the 'trigger'. Even better, the sharp edges are never exposed, even after use.
I just ordered one for $15 from Amazon, as well as a box of Lancet drums.
Finally, it's a shame this one doesn't have a computer interface.』
(A great little device. Easy to use and understand, not many problems) 『I decided to purchance a blood glucose test machine recently. I don't have diabeties, but since I am 40, and overweight, I decided to shell out some money and get a tester nothertheless to see what my blood sugar readings looked like. I wanted something easy, inexpensive, and worked.
This did it all. The machine comes with easy to follow instructions on how to get started and how to operate. I never needed to look up anything other than the "basic starting instructions" that come in the manual.
They looked like this.. 1) How to turn on your machine and use it 2) How to test using included base sample mix 3) How to put in the 15 use drum and change the needle 4) How to test your blood
pretty easy. After reading it over got it up and running in about 10 minutes. No sweat. The reader comes with a 15 use test strip drum, a carrying case, a pack of 30 or so needle tabs (i don't remember what these are called). Poke needles are easy to insert in the side plunger mechanism. Take off cap, insert needle, twist, put cap back on.. To remove it after use, simple remove cap and push plunger down, needles drops into trash so you can insert another.
After inserting the drum with the test strips pushing the main button is all it takes to put out another test strip. Once done, pushing the button again drops the test strip out, and turns off until next use. Takes about 10 seconds to put in a needle and test your blood. Very quick and easy.
Now, any problems? The only problem I noticed was that the test strip didn't read the drop of blood very fast. You don't need a huge drop, but sometimes it worked right away in a few seconds, sometimes I sat there trying to get it to read for up to 30 seconds or so. The test strips and reader could use a little work on future models, but everything else worked easy and without a hitch.
And my blood glucose during the day ran from about 110-150ish. Not bad.』
(Accu-Chek Compact Plus) 『I was recently diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes and needed a reliable monitor. I am a health care professional and have used commercial Accu-Cheks and thought the Compact Plus would be a good unit. The set up was easy and the instructions were well written and easy to follow. The unit works well but with a few quirks. After the first drum was empty, I changed it with a new 17 strip Roche unit and turned it on. The unit would not accept the code and insisted all blood checks were control checks. I ended up throwing away a new drum and having to use another. Another feature I didn't like was the amount of blood needed for a test and having to precisely place the strip in the blood drop. I have vision problems and and wasted a lot of blood and strips trying to get a test to work. I used this unit for several weeks and ended up buying a Bayer Ascensia Contour which works much better and is much easier to use plus the strips are much cheaper. I compared results with both units and they have the same degree of accuracy. If you have good vision and like technological things, this would be a good unit. I like simple things that are easy to use and the Compact Plus did not meet my needs.』

After using the Kiwi, mileage gradually increased to 38 mpg. They recommended switching to synthetic oil and my new "record" is 41.6 mpg. This is a very good product. (Gas Saver) 『When you plug this thing in you are greeted by a beautiful bright screen. The user interface is pretty easy to navigate with the directional keys. Text is large and straight forward.
Once the unit is plugged into your dash's OBD II port it scans all that information into the device in real time. I drive a WRX so this unit plugs underneath your driver steering column. Once the unit is powered it figures out your vehicle's performance. It knows how much you accelerate and brake, then the unit some how figures out a mathematical formula to teach you how to drive more smoother.
Before getting my unit I was driving about 21MPG. Driving using the Kiwi's tool I was able to push it up to 26MPG. My WRX isn't very efficient. So your mileage may vary.』
(A Great Tool for Daily Commuting) 『I've had my Kiwi for several months now and I'm very pleased with it. It's been a fun, neat and valuable tool for me to experiment with my gas mileage during my boring commutes to and from work. My daily commute ranges between 20-30 minutes and I've been using my Kiwi to determine which route saves me the most time and gas. With the Kiwi I've discovered that my driving behavior plays a tremendous part in my fuel efficiency. I've also been able to discover which routes save the most gas.
I've experimented with my driving behavior quite a bit and I've noticed that my Lexus can range as much as 35% on the same route. On some days I'll drive aggressively by accelerating rapidly and braking aggressively. My Kiwi Score would drop to about 78 with an MPG of about 20 and a cost per trip of ~$1.4. On other days, I'll baby the car, keep my momentum in turns, plan ahead and stop gradually and I'll get a 92 Kiwi Score with 28 MPG and a cost per trip of ~$1. When I arrive at my destination, the Kiwi will show me a trip summary with all that information, which is a nice feature. I've also noticed that there's a definite correlation between my driving behavior score and my actual MPG.
Before I had the Kiwi, every morning I'm always caught with a dilemma. Should I take the longer freeway route or should I take the shorter city route to work? With the Kiwi I've discovered that my city route to work is 9.0 miles where my freeway route is 12.2 miles. I've also been able to discover that my longer freeway route actually saves more gas and time than my shorter city route if there's no freeway traffic. I check the traffic with my iphone every morning now and if there's no traffic, I'll take the freeway, and if there is, I'll take the city.
The engine check feature has also been useful. A buddy of mine drives a BMW M roadster and forgot to screw his gas cap on tightly. Apparently BMW has a pressure sensor which checks for this and throws an error code on the dash. I look my Kiwi out and reset his light for him saving him at least $100 from having to go to the dealer.
All in all, I'm happy with the Kiwi. It does what it's advertised to do and requires no maintenance. The unit is easy to install, turns on automatically and turn off automatically.』
(Won't make much difference, get a smaller car....) 『If you'll notice the maker and other reviewers say very little about how much this device will actually improve MPG. The basics of efficient driving - reducing speed, accelerating gently (unless you have a hybrid and then that may not apply), and coasting as much as possible when stopping - will make some difference, in my experience perhaps 10%. But you don't need a device to guide you to do those things do you? Well, maybe you do, and then this device will help remind and reward you in a game like way for doing these things.
But are you looking to have fun with a new toy or do you actually want to make any real difference in your pocketbook and the environment? Then you need to get a more fuel efficient vehicle. It's just that simple. Saving 10% on a 20mpg vehicle is only the equivalent of driving a 22mpg vehicle. Think of the difference you could make with a 30mpg vehicle while sacrificing very little; that's 50%! Or how about a Prius or Civic Hybrid at over 40mpg; thats 100%! Double that is! Duh.
Go ahead, be courageous, make a real difference, step up to a more efficient vehicle!

First, it is perhaps the best book I have read for people trying to understand the importance of following Christ in a secular world, especially those who have never read a "religious" book before.
This book is certainly helpful for men who are trying to understand the power and truth and complete relevance of God in their lives. While every young man preparing for college, attending college, or having recently graduated from college simply has to read this book, it is something that every man can relate to and learn from. And I think women will love it too, as this can help them understand the kind of man they want their future or current boyfriends and husbands to be. And so much of what the author addresses is relevant for anyone, man or woman, young or old.
Finally, I'll be having my sons read this book when they are older, as a preparation for manhood and understanding the dangers, subtle and not-so-subtle, in the world where we live.
One more thing - the book is an incredible read. You won't want to put it down, and you'll wish Saab wrote even more.
