This is a great song, but the track list is incorrect. I ordered the cd because of all the remixes that are listed, but when I received the cd it only has the album version and the no rap version.

If you are wanting any of the other remixes listed on the track listing, look elsewhere because you will not find them on this disc.
Contrary to what some reviewers (rather inarticulately) said on this page, not all Beyonce's tunes are as mindless and fun as this one. A prime example of a deep, emotional ballad is track 10 on her latest release, B'Day. However, when Beyonce wants to write a silly, playful tune, she can do that as well! She has said in several interviews that she didn't expect this song to be as popular as it was, and she released it just because she thought it was nice to dance to. So if you don't read too deeply into it, it's a very enjoyable tune from an extremely talented artist. It's true that she has done better, but Check On It is the perfect song for a night out with the girls!
Most of the people who come and write those trashy reviews are just B bashers and should go deaf for the rest of their lives for not giving this girl the credit she deserves. This song is AWESOME and dangerously catchy!
Beyonce does it again with a catchy beat, complicated and interesting vocal arrangment, and oh-so-sexy lyrics! This song goes down as one of this amazing talent's best! BRAVO B!

My god, anyone who can say that this record is messy has to listen again. This is one of my favorite CDs in my collection and i got to see them live in Newcastle, England.
When i first played the CD i wasnt impressed as it didnt come across the way it did live, but seriously after a few records, the only this that is painful about it is how infectious it is!!! BUY IT!
Come on, this record is so good. Pretentious, Painful, Boring? Where does that come from? Anyone who can actually take their head out of their [butt] listen to the record as opposed to making snap judgements will find its value. It's got two of the dudes from sweep among other luminaries, so there is a touch of the post-rock asthetic, but you can tell that the songs were written from a totally different perspective. If you can't tell the difference between math rock and these solid, loud pop/rock tunes,I feel sorry for you.

I saw this group live on my cross country trip somewhere in Minn. This powerhouse holds very well with members such as the bass player for dagobah and lynx, the sax player and guitar player from sweep the leg johnny and the drummer from big'n. all of these men along side of a more obscure musician who was in a punk band called emily and then went on to do some solo stuff under the guise of the intelligibles play very nice anthem-esque rock with elvis costello like vocals coupled with very (probably to) smart (for their audience) lyrics. VERy good times music. strained and approachable. They bring the house down live. but i will say look out there is one song with a clapping breakdown that the bass player stole from his old band.

(Not really what I hoped for)

The cover is reminiscent of a bill from a diner, so it's casual, but charming. The format of this is concise and well-thought out with space to put the name of the restaurant, type of cuisine, overall rating, price range, "must order items" and what to avoid along with some space for general comments. It is small and will be unobtrusive to carry along on your outing. I gave this as a gift and got feedback that the recipient was very pleased!
Did you read the "fine print" and notice this was a spiral-bound book? I didn't. I really hate spiral-bound journals, too!

Aside from that, it just really isn't that interesting. The journal pages are nice, and well done, but the cover seems juvenile and cheap in person. I really wanted to get a restaurant journal for my boyfriend for his birthday (because we both really enjoy eating out at home and on trips), and I'm sad that one of the presents I have for him is this book. It just isn't what I was hoping for, but it is a place to start, I guess.

I hope to find a better restaurant journal out there. Any suggestions?

Being a member of a multi-ethnic family myself, I purchased this book to help teach my husband what it is like to grow up in such a family. I am German and African American.
This book has been an excellent resource because it touches on the many topics involved including terminology, answering the "What are you? question, dating, etc...
The author did alot of research including interviewing members of many different multi-racial and bi-racial families.
This book focuses on empowering members of multi-racial and bi-racial families to be proud of who they are and gives advice about how to handle in a positive light some of the negative situations they may encounter. The book particularly focuses on helping to raise self-esteem in multi-racial and bi-racial individuals. It made me feel proud to be biracial. I highly recommend this book.
I am an author myself and I have written a book entitled Dirty Sally...The untold stories of mixed race children who find a new identity, love, faith and forgiveness through God. This Christian based children's book seeks to raise awareness within the bi-racial community. Allegorical tales detail the unspoken realities facing multiracial children, and encourage young readers on how they might make better choices by referring to biblical scripture as a teaching tool. This was a phenomenal book. I was moved. I am not biracial, but rather bicultural, and suffer more because many look at my white face and standard American English and deny my primary culture. Again and again Sundee brought up points and ideas that I could viscerally relate to. I have experienced many of the same struggles, doubts, and sins (on my part) in response to a bicultural existance.

Sundee has an easy, honest manner of writing which connects immediately with the reader. She writes directly from her close relationship with Jesus, without pretense or preachiness, but simply from her understanding of reality. She speaks with amazing openness about her difficulties being biracial and bicultural, and the profound joy and hope that brings her as well. Throughout she weaves this into the hope set before us in Jesus Christ, and how his Kingdom ideals are intertwined into an emerging polycultural world.

Copiously foot-noted yet not oppressively so, this is a how-to manual of spiritual enlightenment. I would strongly recommend it to anyone who is biracial or bicultural. And even if you are not Christian, there is much here in the personal struggles and realizations of others like yourself that may prove greatly beneficial. Considering what's in this book, I am truly shocked that it doesn't have greater renown.
The religious stories and references to religion woven throughout the book got in the way of Sundee telling about her personal journey to find herself and acceptance from others. After reading the book, I was not convinced she felt successful.
Great Book!! Bought it for my 26 year old son who is struggling with his black/white identity. Lot's of insight into every possible problem that comes from being interracial. Your not alone rings clear.
I'll check one box when it comes to this book: oustanding. As the mom of multiiracial children this book has given me insight to relate to how my kids might be feeling. And I enjoy how Frazier connects it all to faith. How can one's identity not have this connection if one believes in a Creator? I recommend this to all mulitracial people -- and everyone, for that matter. Our world grows more multiracial every day. We need to understand each other.
Being multiracial is an honor. But it doesn't always feel that way. Sometimes we wonder where we fit, who our community is and who can understand us. When faced with a form that requires us to check an ethnicity, we sometimes feel like "none of the above."

But God loves multiracial people and interracial families. There is a special place for us in God's plan. God wants to give us a sense of wholeness and worth as a person made in God's very likeness.

This book will help us to understand the experiences that make up who we are and to connect with the experiences of others like us. It will make clear the challenges and pitfalls of the journey but also reveal the path to new life. There's help here in developing ethnic identity, better understanding family of origin, even figuring out who to marry! Most of all, we'll gain a sense of God's purpose for us. For those who aren't multiracial but know someone who is, this book will give insight into a child, spouse or friend.

Living joyfully as a multiracial person means finding the hope and courage to Check All That Apply and embrace all of who we are.
