Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Definitely not their best - but definitely worth buying) 『If I had to pick my favorite three songwriters from the many brilliant pop/rock based artists that have graced this planet, Smokey Robinson, Paul Simon and Curtis Mayfield would probably top the list. Curtis had such innovative arrangement ideas, thought provoking lyrics, and an absolutely mesmerizing falsetto. (That's not to mention a truly unique guitar playing style that was solely perfected by himself, and Marv Tarplin of the Miracles).
In any event, Check Out Your Mind was the last Impressions album with Curtis captaining the ship. Along with the title track, this record has six or seven very strong songs that fit right in with how Curtis' writing had evolved at this time. There are two throw backs to the the Impressions early 60's material, and only one song from the ten, (Madam Mary) that doesn't work for me.
Conversely, the same can not be said for my opinion of the second album on here. Although Curtis had officially left the Impressions, he still fully produced and penned six of the eight tracks on Times Have Changed. With Curtis' solo career in full swing, this album almost comes across like he's distracted. There is absolutely no continiuity through the tracks and only one song, (Our Loves Goes On and On) I would place in the strong category. The remaining tracks range from decent to marginal at best.
At the end of the day, this is definitely not the first place you want to stop to familiarize yourself with Curtis Mayfield and the Impressions. Outside of One By One, any other album in their entire catalog would do the trick. But once you've been hooked in by one of the most talented and overlooked groups and need to hear it all, you won't be disappointed with this purchase. Check Out Your Mind is a very worthy addition to the Impressions superior catalog, and is an album that has been out of print for far too long.
On that note, I think it is important to give a big salutation to Rhino and American Beat for their commitment to reissuing vital recordings such as this, when they know it's not going to be a best seller. Thank you for allowing us to hear this wonderful and important music again.』

The compositions are sophisticated but the solos are still soulful and bluesy (especially those by Scott Henderson). I'm myself a bass player for about 12 years and I think Gary Willis is one the most interesting modern bass players. His solos are very impressive. The man has so many good ideas and his groove is great. The track"Nite Club"(written by Gary Willis) alone make this album a must buy."Foreign Affairs"(written by Scott Kinsey, a wonderful keyboard player) is also a great fusion tune even if it's very Weather Reportish (but how to avoid this influence ?) .』
(Fusion music is "cosa nostra") 『This band is stellar period. This album is stellar period. There's an amazing fusion tune "Foreign affairs" that alone is worth the price. The fantastic musicianship of this combo is quite easy to understand from the exact beginning. The short Stella by starlight rendition is behind words, the harmonization conventional but courageous, consistent but free, and moreover short. In a couple of minutes there is a true story, it's complete. It's a jewel. You don't have to blow a hundred choruses to explain a tune, to say the thing the tune wants you to say. Bird was the epitome of this approach. A short solo, but beyond words, technical challenging, lyrical unreachable and complete in itself. A couple of choruses maximum, and if you are a master player that's it. I don't like the Coltrane approach to endless improvisation. It's really boring in my opinion !!! Talkin' about this album the rest of the music is heavy fusion played at incredible level. I love the songs, I love the album, I love a lot of solos from all the guys. I don't like Scott Henderson's solo work when he tries to play too bluesy on difficult chord changes. I am a Jazz guitarist myself; I would prefer a more tonal approach, less pentatonic and guitaristic and more musical, more oriented to chord meanings. But that's oly my taste of course. He is an amazing player obviously, a scientist, he could do whatever he wants, it is simply his choice to play like that, and there's nothing wrong with it. I prefer more straight ahead solos... that's all. In the end this is a great album, probably their best. A great band. In my opinion best band name for a modern futuristic band, strongly rooted in blues, jazz, fusion tradition but with a musical guru approach. Fantastic. Fusion super heroes !!!!』

(Works great for P2 cards) 『I've been using it for months with my 16GB Panasonic P2 card and Macbook Pro. Never a glitch. You have to remember to disconnect the Duel from the laptop only when you're done. If you try to reconnect without rebooting the computer, it won't mount (and on a Mac you might get the spinning beach ball of death). However, you CAN remove the P2 card from the Duel (leaving the Duel attached to the computer) and then re-insert the P2 card later (perhaps after shooting more footage) and the card will mount. There is no solid "click" connection between my Macbook Pro slot and Duel, which is a minor annoyance, but I don't know if that's Apple's fault or Duel's.』

(Poor Fit&Finish and packaging) 『Bought this chest, looking for an additional layer of protection within my larger fireproof safe, and because the dimensions were the best available for my needs. It arrived poorly packaged, with four of eight corners damaged. Was able to fix the sheetmetal damage - disregard the cosmetic appearance. The lid appears to be too large for the case. There's an extra one-quarter inch clearance between each of the four sides of the lid and the case. I question the fireproof capability with those large gaps in the insulation. It wasn't worth sending back. So, I kept the first one and reordered another - same issues with the second one. I would return both if they were my only fireproof barrier, but since I keep them both in a large, fine quality fire and waterproof safe, they'll do as a simple additional lockbox with some [anticipated] additional fire protection.
Come on, Amazon - how about some effective Quality Control within your Shipping Department. Sometimes Amazon ships with the perfect and most creative packaging. Other times the packaging is almost non-effective. Even though, I'll keep Amazon.com as my primary source for online shopping.』

(Fast Paced Chess for Neophytes and Experts) 『This is a good games and a really great concept. Game play is simple and fast paced. There is strategy involved, but it never bogs down the action. Using a scaled down board and just a handful of key chess pieces, this games succeeds where so many others have failed: It creates a great learning tool and introduction to chess while also leveling the field for experts and novices.
How is this possible? Simple. While the expert is trying to teach the beginner the rules and strategies of chess, the beginner is winning at a game she or he already knows -- tic tac toe. My nine-year-old son, for example, asked maybe 6 times "How does this piece move?" I'd tell him and maybe correct a few wrong moves, and then the little stinker would suddenly beat me. I'm playing chess, he's playing tic tac toe, all while we're both playing Tic Tac Chec and having a blast!
My only complaints about the game is the lightweight pieces skitter off the board too easily (heavier and maybe slight larger chess pieces would help)and the directions are a little vague ("pawns must cross the board before they can reverse direction", "you can't move if there are less than three of your pieces on the board", and "start with a blank board, taking turns placing pieces until you can start moving them" are helpful clarifications).』

You start off with a "hub" of six groceries, in each of six different colors. (There's a total of EIGHT colors and SEVEN grocery types, but only six of each on the hub). You place a card from the deck in each hub slot - aisle - making sure that no aisle has two matching cards. They can match in either color or grocery type.
And then the game starts, cards are turned over and players compete to be the first one to find an aisle to put each card in where it doesn't match anything. It's a pretty fast game, and little kids can play on about the same level as grown-ups. It really builds visual discrimination skills and logical thinking.
One problem: The colors aren't very consistent or distinct. Often, we think a card is gray when it's blue, or blue when it's green, or orange when it's red. We're going to end up relabelling them ourselves :(』 『Attention shoppers! Take the express lane to fun in this fast-paced game of visual perception and quick reflexes. (Disappointed) 『The author of this book needs to take a basic writing class before writing any more books. He forgets to define sound terminology, expecting the reader to understand phrases like"colored signal", etc. although I did appreciate the somewhat incomplete glossary at the back of the book. He also has a hard time teaching many of the concepts. Many of the charts I found very labor intensive and confusing. Who proofread this book any way? I admit I did learn a fair amount. Maybe many of the concepts have to be experienced to be understood and if so, it's not the author's fault.』

I thought that I should start out at a higher level book, like Yamaha Guide to Sound Systems, but I was wrong. I'm an aerospace engineer, lawyer, and I ran an electronics manufacturing company, but Sound Check was the best starting point for me; I wish that I had this book many years ago. It would have saved me a lot of trouble. It is a practical book that I have recommended to all my employees who work with sound systems.』

Some areas are terribly missleading and, at times, will leave out profound information that will simply get you in trouble. (Jason Briggs Does The Woody Allen Role) 『Woody Allen's ANYTHING ELSE (2003) is sort of an updated re-working of the director's Oscar-winning ANNIE HALL, in which Jason Biggs plays the Allen role and Christina Ricci takes over for Diane Keaton. Allen plays a colorful, albeit supporting, part as Biggs' lunatic mentor who has a hilarious "dark side".
There are plenty of classic Woody Allen-style laughs in this neurotic comedy about a young, insecure comedy writer and his free-spirited, impossible to please girl friend. The cast, which includes Stockard Channing (as Ricci's unstable mother), Danny DeVito (as Biggs' manager) and Jimmy Fallon (as Christina's former boy friend), is certainly talented.
The problem is that Woody Allen is the kind of writer whose dialogue has a certain unique rhythm. [David Mamet is another.] If the actors don't pick up that rhythm, the scene, no matter how well written, doesn't work. And, unfortunately, in the case of ANYTHING ELSE, the performers have not always captured the Allen rhythm. Several scenes that should have been funny, thus come off as an annoying whine.
This film may not be anywhere near Woody's best work, but it certainly has enough engaging moments in it to make it worth a look.
(Woody Redux) 『In this seemingly endless review of Woody Allen's work that I have undertaken over the past year or so I have noted in some reviews that the legendary comic, actor, writer, director and producer has on occasion repeated himself. I have also noted that if one lives long enough (and is productive enough) that is bound to occur. That is the case with Anything Else but where previously the repeated intellectual banter and sight gags were tiresome this little 2003 film was rather refreshing.
For starters the premise here is more interesting. Kind of Woody Redux. Woody is playing the comedic elder statesmen (himself, in other words) that has seen more than his share of the world and his oddly-nuanced view of it (including some satanic digs at survivalists, rabid uncritical Jewish Israel-supporters, Jew-hating Nazi-types and the pretensions of the intellectual world). He has befriended a rising up-and-coming comedic talent that has all of Wood's early tics-you know, insecurity, troubles with women, self-induced manias, troubles with women, panic attacks, troubles with women (in other words, himself)....you get the drift . They collectively attempt throughout the film to break out from that old Woody as they seize on Woody's idea to break totally with their pasts and go to work in ......L.A. That's the ticket, right?
Along the way Jerry (Woody's younger self) falls in and out of love with a neurotic young beauty (the fetching Amanda played by Christiana Ricci), falls in and out of his relationship with his business agent (played by Danny Devito) and with his shrink. Hey, Jerry is more than ready to go to Hollywood after all that. In any case, put Woody (young and old), a New York City (actually Manhattan) locale, New York Jewish intellectual humor and a bonus of Billie Holiday doing Cole Porter tunes as background music and you have a very nice little film for us aging 1960's-type Woody aficionados. See it. 』

The good: Christina Ricci playing an extremely sexy, yet immature and grating character; Jason Biggs doing an exceptional job with a poorly-written script; Danny DeVito doing an amazing job with a small role; a couple of other attractive women in small parts; and a couple points where you actually laugh.
The bad: Woody Allen's (not intentionally) annoying character; a pretty pathetic plot; and a poorly-written, unfunny script.
The ugly: Woody Allen's constant mention of Jews and his perceived hatred of them.
Christina Ricci really does shine in this movie. While her character is intentionally annoying, she makes you care about her (not the least of which because she's gorgeous). Similarly, Jason Biggs does a very good job and makes you care about his character. Likewise, Danny DeVito makes you care about his character, though his role is unfortunately small. This is a testament to the ability of these actors, and a lesser degree to the director.
The problem is that it's really not a very good plot, and the script is pure tripe. I've never seen Woody Allen in anything before, and my initial reaction is that he likes to hear himself talk. There's just no other excuse for his character. The character is neither funny nor witty. If he was meant to be a sort of mentor to Jason Biggs' character (as it appears he was), his lines should have been rewritten and the role should have been given to a better actor. To me, his performance was flat. He didn't make me care about his character at all.
At many times throughout the movie, I almost turned it off. The only reason I didn't is because I kept thinking "It HAS to get better", and it did get a little bit better at the end. But does 20 minutes or so at the end justify sitting through 89 minutes of pain?
The bottom line is this: If you're the type of person who must see everything that one of these actors does, then you're going to watch this no matter what any reviewer says. If you're just a casual fan, or are just looking for something to entertain yourself, skip this one. It will only give you codes and what they mean, you will still have to do research what they COULD be caused by. Its about a foot long and five inches wide and has a very durable exterior. (Does what it says) 『I have only used it on a OBD I system so far. It works great for the 1989 buick century and 1990 Buick LeSabre. The check engine light came on the LeSabre plugged it in and showed me that the cam sensor was losing signal. Replaced the cam sensor and the car runs great again. The Super AutoScanner Kit allows you to easily retrieve, read, and erase OBD I and OBD II trouble codes, as well as display and read live vehicle data for a faster diagnosis. This sophisticated, yet extremely user-friendly tool includes the CP9145 base unit and can be used on OBD II compliant cars and light trucks sold in the U.S. from 1996 to present. The CP9150 kit includes additional cables to retrieve codes and live data for 1984-95 Ford and GM models, and 1989-95 Chrysler models. Plus, the tool is fully upgradeable, accommodating future vehicles.
The CP9145 base unit is built tough for both shop and road test use. It also features a large, easy-to-read liquid crystal display that shows the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and their definitions. And although you still have to fix the problem, the scanner will deactivate the "check engine" light on your dash so you'll no longer be distracted while you drive. The scanner is easy to connect to your vehicle, and a user friendly menu provides a variety of information in a snap, including live engine data parameters (PIDs). Built-in help screens help you interpret the data, and you can view freeze frame data, which provides a "snapshot" of the vehicle's operating conditions at the time of the fault. Meanwhile, an internal 9-volt battery stores the latest test results for later review.
Use the Monitor Status and I/M readiness (Inspection/Maintenance) function to determine if your vehicle is ready for an emissions test. I/M Readiness is an excellent function to use prior to having a vehicle inspected for compliance with a state emissions program, so you'll have a good idea if your vehicle will pass the standards.
Another important thing to remember is that all emission testing facilities will fail a vehicle that has the "check engine" light illuminated at the time of the test--even if it is only lit to remind you of a past-due oil change or 60,000-mile tune-up. With this scanner, you can shut off the check engine light and pass the emissions test on your terms.
The menu also alerts you of any pending DTCs and reads the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) status. By reading the MIL status the scanner gives insight into what might cause your "check engine" light to turn on in the near future. In this way, the scanner also provides some preventive measures to help you keep a close eye on your vehicle's systems.
