Instead of aSopranos-style album loaded with evocative songs, this HBO-movie soundtrack offers Dave Grusin's workmanlike score. What might be appropriate in the context of Norman Jewison's domestic drama is a listening experience with limited appeal. That is, fans of Grusin's work as a smooth-jazzer will probably enjoy--or at least find unobtrusive--the likes of "I Did an Experiment" and the guitar-and-vibes-heavy "I'm Happy for You." Not that the composer has no flair for reflecting the drama of a moment; "Tom Goes to the Den" is a masterful limning of that early turning point. Other snippets, including the title track, could fit into any tasteful suburban-based film. As for the disc's two vocal tracks, star Dennis Quaid's "I'm in the Mood for Love" is the musical equivalent of an actor's wandering accent, while Crowded House's 1986 "Don't Dream It's Over" brings the truest emotion to be found here.--Rickey Wright

What a nice surprise! I will never regret that I bought this CD."Strive to be Happy","Upward Bound Experience"and"My Deep&Magical Ambient"with cool Spanish-guitar sounds are by far the best songs,"Reality Check"is extraordinary as well. I think this CD is perfect to be played having some martinis or even relaxing at home a Sunday morning. The singer has a beautiful voice. You should get this CD!
Hopefully shaken and chilled, because Stigmato Inc's Reality Check is a great jazzy, loungey, housey, latiny CD. The lead singer's voice is a great complement to music and"Strive To Be Happy"is the tune to beat.

(Definitely not their best - but definitely worth buying)

If I had to pick my favorite three songwriters from the many brilliant pop/rock based artists that have graced this planet, Smokey Robinson, Paul Simon and Curtis Mayfield would probably top the list. Curtis had such innovative arrangement ideas, thought provoking lyrics, and an absolutely mesmerizing falsetto. (That's not to mention a truly unique guitar playing style that was solely perfected by himself, and Marv Tarplin of the Miracles).

In any event, Check Out Your Mind was the last Impressions album with Curtis captaining the ship. Along with the title track, this record has six or seven very strong songs that fit right in with how Curtis' writing had evolved at this time. There are two throw backs to the the Impressions early 60's material, and only one song from the ten, (Madam Mary) that doesn't work for me.

Conversely, the same can not be said for my opinion of the second album on here. Although Curtis had officially left the Impressions, he still fully produced and penned six of the eight tracks on Times Have Changed. With Curtis' solo career in full swing, this album almost comes across like he's distracted. There is absolutely no continiuity through the tracks and only one song, (Our Loves Goes On and On) I would place in the strong category. The remaining tracks range from decent to marginal at best.

At the end of the day, this is definitely not the first place you want to stop to familiarize yourself with Curtis Mayfield and the Impressions. Outside of One By One, any other album in their entire catalog would do the trick. But once you've been hooked in by one of the most talented and overlooked groups and need to hear it all, you won't be disappointed with this purchase. Check Out Your Mind is a very worthy addition to the Impressions superior catalog, and is an album that has been out of print for far too long.

On that note, I think it is important to give a big salutation to Rhino and American Beat for their commitment to reissuing vital recordings such as this, when they know it's not going to be a best seller. Thank you for allowing us to hear this wonderful and important music again.

This is an odd video release. One excellent episode and one dreadful episode. First the bad one,"Confetti Check A-OK". This is a rare episode without a UFO in it! This one's a real stinkeroo! Now let's talk about the good one,"Sub-Smash". This is a submarine drama akin to the recent blockbuster movie U-571. The saucer-hunters learn the aliens now have a craft that can fly AND function as a submarine. Commander Straker assembles the best possible sub crew to search for it but are ambushed and the crippled sub sinks to the bottom. Can SHADO raise the sub to the surface before the crew's air is depleted?
Growing up in San Diego Ca friend Russel V. and I saw all episodes and for many years wonder what happened to the show .All the episodes showed realistically the emotions s\and family stuggles of the main characters d,definetly a show far ahead of its time.

"Confetti-Check A-OK"is another of the good"character driven"episodes that made this series one of my favorites. It shows how SHADO was funded and started at the same time Straker got married. As Shado got more stronger, his marriage got progressively weaker. The episode asks would you sacrifice all your happiness and personal life for an organization. It also shows that we could be under alien attack and the bureaucrats would be arguing over the budget!!
Both episodes on this tape provide excellent charater development. Only the second (SubSmash) shows decent model footage.

Paul Chek has consistently been shown up in the area of science. His over-reliance on swiss balls and "core stability" exercises are amusing. This book is good for people who teach classes for non-athletes looking for a bit of challenging fun, and circus performers.
I have bought the entire Paul Check physio-ball video series. I also have videos from other instructors and Paul's are by far the best. He knows the body so well and explains how and why to do things so you can understand. I feel scientifically grounded in my knowledge. I teach a weekly class on the physio-ball and have incorporated everything I learned from this and the first video (Exercises for Abs and Buns). Be ready for a challenging workout!

Guttermouth at its best. The sound and the image are great. You'll see the band rocking with 20 of their best hits, old and new ones (only one from Gusto). There's also bonus footage. You'll hear Mark's and Ty's commentaries on the show and you'll see Mark and the bassist in a bar. If you're a Guttermouth fan and you've never seen them on show, buy this DVD and if you've seen them a couple of time like me, it will bring back good memories.

I enjoy black movies and street oriented films. The acting in this movie was horrible. I didn't even finish the movie before stopping it and subsequently giving it away for free. I watch 40 minutes of it and it never got any better. Save your money.

This product works, but is a huge mess to try to set up. The dry chemical is finer than the mesh on the dome lid, so it falls through if you tilt the product at all. The review said that it would last for months, but my chemical melted completely away after only two weeks. It did collect water, but it didn't seem worth the mess and short-life.
Dust mites and molds thrive in humid areas. Our dehumidifiers absorb moisture quickly and efficiently. Use wherever dampness is a problem.

I've had this machine for over 3 years. The playback quality is fine contrary to some of the reviews I have seen here.

The main buttons are large and easy to press. The unit is small and sleek and looks nice.

For $29, it's a good answering machine.
I got an early digital answering machine from AT&T (when they really were built by AT&T) when they first came out. I think the Sony is the fifth one I have owned. Every machine I have bought since has gotten junkier. The last one my wife bought was a Conair (that's the one the store carried). That lasted less than a year.

So I did an search for Sony and bought this. The Sony quality is better than the last two I have owned. It was easy to program and the voice quality isn't any worse than the previous ones that I have had.

Digital answering machines are just junky now. This one seems OK.
... The sound is horrible and the thing talks way too much, and much too slowly. It must take 3 seconds to tell me that my message has been deleted - EVERY time I delete a message.

The thing that REALLY irks me is that once you listen to a message, the counter decrements so that no one else knows that the message is on the machine. I have to write down messages for my wife to check the machine and vice-versa.

There have to be better/cheaper machines on the market.
Sony's TAM-100 digital answering machine does a whole lot more than just take up to 15 minutes of messages. It never takes a lunch break or reads magazines at the front desk. But it does let you set up three separate message boxes, so your co-workers or family can have direct access to their own voice messages. It's all digital - on both the incoming and outgoing sides - for ultimate reliability. With flash memory so it never forgets messages, even if the power goes out.
