I thought it seemed stupid, and when I first tried it on some wines that I like as they are, I was not impressed. (Bring "Papa" Home to enjoy!) 『In 1962 Jackie Gleason was back on television with his classic variety show,"The American Scene Magazine". At about the same time,a delightful comedy was released entitled "Papa's Delicate Condition". This had to be "The Great One" at his cinematic best next to "The Hustler" and the "Smokey and the Bandit" movies. Jackie has a little problem but he was big in the heart to his daughter. Glynis Johns and Charlie Ruggles are perfect in this movie. Of course there is the music with Jackie singing "Bill Bailey" and the classic,"Call Me Irresponsible". This movies has its funny and touching moments. A good film for all fans of Jackie Gleason...worth looking at!』
(A Sweet and Endearing Family Movie!) 『I have always considered 1963's movie "Papa's Delicate Condition" to be a sweet,sentimental and very endearing piece of film.The movie is based on silent screen actress Corinne Griffiths' 1952 novel of the same name about her childhood in Texas.It is directed by George Marshall,famous for his working with Laurel and Hardy in the 1930s at Hal Roach studios.It certainly rates high on my list of all time favourite movies. The film stars Jackie Gleason as railroad supervisor Jack Griffith and his wife Ambolyn played by Glynnis Johns(soon to become a household name from "Mary Poppins").He has two daughters teenage Augusta and the apple of his eye Corrie.Seems "Papa" has a more than little penchant for imbibing on occasion,much to his flustered wifes' chagrin.In these times it's teenage Augusta and Amobolyn who "team" up against Jack and his only ally little Corrie who adores her doting father.And who can blame little Corrie for her love of a Dad who when trying to buy a small pony and cart for his daughter,ends up buying the entire circus in which they belong? But Jack is really a misunderstood man who will go to any lengths to please his family and others.For example there was a house in the familie's neighbourhood that had an awful shade of purple painted on its' front.Ambolyn comments that she would be eternally grateful to anyone that would remove that blight from her sight.Jack immediately concocts a scheme to trick the owner into believing he has won a contest to have his house repainted(white is the only colour "available"!).Jack and Corrie are the painters,much to Ambolyns' startling discovery,but it's the thought that earns Jack a respectful peck on the cheek from his wife.In another example to help out a young,poorly paid and mistreated employee of a local drugstore Jack buys the store lock,stock and barrel.He then makes the youngster the manager who is now boss over his former skin-flint employer! Revenge is sweet indeed.When Ambolyn finds out about this financial transaction she hits the roof.Even though Jack has obtained financial backing and part ownership from other friends which will make the store a steady income earner(no dummy is Jack!),his wife is still not assuaged.She mistakenly thinks it's another sign of his "condition" and takes the family back to her fathers' house in Texas,one Mayor Ghio,played well by veteran stage and screen actor Charles Ruggles.Many will recall Ruggles voice overs in the cartoons of Rocky and Bullwinkle's "Aesop Fables" segments. Well if the mountain won't come to Mohammed,Jack takes his circus down to Texarkana,Texas just in time to help out his father in laws' re-election campaign.During the parade Ambolyn falls after chasing Jack and Corrie in the pony and cart,hurting her hand.She is a piano player and the doctor says she may never play again.Ambolyn and family return home and Jack returns to the railroad and buries himself in his work,refusing to touch alcohol.A tearful Corrie beseeches her Grandfather to find her Dad which he promises he will and does.Jack returns home only to have second thoughts at the front gate.Ambolyn finally lets go her stubborness and the strains of Jacks' favourite song "Bill Bailey" are soon emanating from the household piano,which draws Jack inside and a happily ever after reunion. Rarely does this film falter and only then to try and further the plot.The relationship of father and daughter here is the keystone of this film and it works beautifully.Even though we never forget who is playing the dad,as there are alot of in-references to the real Gleason in the film,they couldn't have made a better choice for the part.The chemistry between him and little Linda Bruhl(Corrie) was magical.Johns plays the hurt and frustrated wife to a tee and Laurel Goodwin(Augusta) plays her part with just the right amount of teenage angst. To top everything this movie garnered an Oscar for best song that year;"Call Me Irrresponsible".Sung by Gleason,in that "condition", to a tailors' headless dummy! It has to be seen to be appreciated.One of the Great Ones' finest on screen moments! All in all "Papa's Delicate Condition" is a film I recommend highly.It is presented here in a very good print and transfer in its' original widescreen aspect ratio of 1:78.It's a good and wholesome film for the entire family and,unless you're made of wood,it will tug mightily at your heart strings throughout.』
(Takes me back to my childhood!) 『This is a classic movie that I don't think got enough attention in it's time. It focuses on Jackie Gleason who is a railroad supervisor and he has one little problem...he drinks like a fish and ends up spending loads of money on crap that he nor his family need. It does have a good ending and his issues are worked out. I am not sure how the message is received by most folks but I have always enjoyed this movie and when it came out on DVD, I just had to have it.
I still regularly watch this movie even as a 30 year old! If you're a fan of Jackie Gleason, you'll love this heart warming movie.』
(Rainbows, I'm inclined to pursue) 『Based on Corrine Griffith's memoirs, PAPA'S DELICATE CONDITION is a turn-of-the-century story of a man who'd do anything to please his wife and family, except give up drinking. Griffith's alcoholism causes some outrageous behavior, like his awarding the next door neighbor a prize of a newly-painted house, or buying an ice cream parlor so his daughter's dessert will be just as she wants it. He also gives young Corrie an entire circus when all she'd asked for was a pony.
It's a bittersweet family movie that's by turns whimsical and melancholy. Marital problems of an otherwise "proper" couple are not at all glossed over. The complicated Jack Griffith is arguably Jackie Gleason's best film portrayal; certainly this character's battle with Demon Booze hits close to home, as well.
"Papa's" TRIVIA-- Originally planned as a 1955 starring vehicle for Fred Astaire, who lost interest in the project. The script languished for almost a decade until it was reworked for Gleason.
Watch for Barry Livingston (Ernie on TV's "My Three Sons") as a boy in church.
The movie's theme song, "Call Me Irresponsible," was a hit record for Frank Sinatra.
For his work as Minnesota Fats in THE HUSTLER (1961), "The Great One" received an Oscar nomination.

(THE NEXT BEST THING TO SEEING THEM LIVE...) 『If you're a big fan of live music, you prefer your musicians to have verifiable skills, or you like your music to step outside of all kinds of boxes, this DVD/Documentary must find a home in your private collection. Mint Condition is a band that needs no introduction. After watching the DVD, it becomes evident why they have been dubbed "The Baddest Band in the Land". This is an excellent snap-shot of a band that is made for the stage. The documentary also provides backstage access to a group that has survived the music biz for 15 years.
MC filmed their show at the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C for good reason: the crowds know how to give back great energy. This DVD/Doc was filmed because it is impossible to fit all that MC is on a studio album. In order to have a true experience of what MC is all about, you have to see them live. This is the next best thing to being there.
All throughout the set the band is feeling the love and you can see the devotion from the crowd. This 62 minute concert shows a definite connection with the fans male and female. Stokely Williams (vocalist/instrumentalist) is a terrific front man; capable of eliciting responses from every corner of the venue. Guitarist Homer O'Dell, Key-boardist/Sax Jeffrey Allen, Key-boardist Lawrence Waddell and Stage-Drummer Terry Wesley anchor the musical foundations which they approach with a energetic resolve. Bassist Ricky Kinchen gives his signature turns and spins, while engaging the crowd. This band has terrific chemistry that radiates from stage in unstoppable torrents of funk, rock, jazz and R&B/Soul sonic goodness. The set spans five Mint Condition records and is paced perfectly.

(Pretty Decent, But Not The Definitive MC) 『I have been a Mint Condition fan since the start, and was pleased when this DVD finally came out- it had been rumored to be released right after the new album came out. I had already recorded the BET special so I kinda knew what to expect, but I definitely wanted to get this for the extra songs.
The fellas gave an overall good performance that night, which I'm sure the DVD could not give justice. Special mention goes to "Whoaa", "Funky Weekend", "Call Me" (which I wasn't really a fan of on the album, until now), and "What You Bring to The Party". Stokley was in decent voice and the other guys supported him well. But being a drummer and a big Chris Dave fan, I definitely miss him and his fire on the drums. I have a copy of MC's performance on BET's Planet Groove that supported "Definition of a Band"- complete with Keri Lewis (who wasn't terribly missed by me) and Chris Dave, and it is by far, IMHO, the definitive live performance by these guys, thanks partly to Chris Dave's rock solid drumming. Terry Wesley is cool, but he is definitely different style wise. And, to me, it seemed like he was the weak link in the drum duet with Stokley during "Mintal"- which turned out to be a great song once everybody else joined in. And everybody else definitly brought the funk for the entire DVD.
Another thing that brought the DVD down for me was the documentary clips between most of the songs. There is a documentary that is included in the Special Features section of the DVD that has a lot of the same footage that was included during the concert, so why not just take it out of the concert? And not only that, during the closing credits, the audio of the first chorus of their performance of "Look Whatchu Done 2 Me" was heard- and it was soundin' FUNKY!!! I was like, why wasn't THAT song included in the concert instead of teasing us with a snippet like that and wasting space with documentary clips we can see later?
I was still mostly pleased with the DVD, and this is definitely a must have for all MC fans. I would love to see a DVD with all of their videos also, but I won't hold my breath on that one. BUY THIS DVD and the "...LUXURY BROWN" CD and SUPPORT THE FELLAS!!!!』
(Amazing.....True Live Music. Additional 5 stars) 『The follow up to 'Livin the Luxury Brown', Live from the 9:30 Club, is the Ultimate Mint Condition fan experience. I bought the CD first, and after hearing it I went flying to FYE to pick up the DVD.
Dropping the Live set from DC, was a very good idea for the band. A tour would be much welcomed by the fans. Forget everything you've seen&heard with all of these so-called singers festering the market.
Stokely's display of total mastering of vocalization, is what interested me in Mint Condition. As musicians, these guys can cover the whole realm. Their debut single 'Pretty Brown Eyes' showcased one of the bands strengths, the ballad. With each new release they took their production and writing skills up a notch.
What makes Mint, Mint, are their songs. The band isn't just cranking out a bunch of catch phrase hooks, smothered over with banging guitar and bass licks. Mint is putting it down lyrically, and musically better than any act in the biz right now.
I'm excited about the band, because there was a 6 year hiatus in between releases, 'Life's Aquarium, and 'Livin the Luxury Brown'. I'm one of those Mint fans who want to see a release, at least, once a year. So when they dropped the Live CD/DVD, I almost lost my mind, because Mint brings it to you right.
What can you say about the Live show.....AWESOME!!!!! I wish they would have included some of their other hits, like 'On&On', 'This Day This Minute, Right Now', and the rock inspired 'Fidelity'..I knew they would have blown the stage up with fidelity.
Mint Condition has lasted for this long because of their brand of music. It's a good thing to have such a talented group of brothers out their doing quality music. Music that means something, because of the issues their songs touch on. No, don't get it twisted, these aren't your average little, nasty little r&b singers.
I play bass guitar, so this is a musicians dream for me. Buy the CD/DVD. It will be the best piece of music you've spent your $$$ on in a while. No doubt. this is vintage stuff, and a must have for all true Mint Condition fans.

While most people assume the gay rights movement started at Stonewall in NYC or with Harvey Milk in '70s San Francisco,the Cockettes were strutting their stuff during the Summer of Love era. The Cockettes was a troupe of cross-dressers (quite a few kept their facial hair),along with a woman,who provided campy psychedelia. They influenced people such as director John Waters,his icon Divine,and even Iggy Pop spent time with them to get drugs.
"The Cockettes" appears to glamorize the era of sexual liberation, when gender identity was up for grabs. They were part of the first generation of gays to "come out of the closet." The Cockettes seem to have inspired groups like the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence (who parody Catholicism) and the pagan Radical Faeries. For all the free love and psychedelia,there was a price. There are few remaining members of the Cockettes,since several died from AIDS.

In the documentary "The Cockettes" we are taken back to San Francisco in the 1970's to learn about a theatre group who defied all of the odds and the conventions of society. They all lived together in a commune and they were gay, straight, bi, men, women, whites, blacks etc and they were wonderful. They put on shows that criticized everything and they were mean, sexual, vicious, hilarious and very, very smart. The documentary looks at them--those entertainers that have been unjustly forgotten. The movie will raise your spirits and how you a world most of us did not have the chance to know. Here is acid-trip theatre performed by an outlandish cast of characters who had a lot to do with opening the doors for freedom of expression. Without these characters around today, we are experiencing a great sense of loss--even if we weren't around to appreciate The Cockettes. The film is an inspiration and even if you have no interest in hippies or drag queens, this is a film you will enjoy. The members of The Cockettes wanted to be stars and therefore they got dressed up in ridiculous outfits, dropped acid regularly and put on "shows" about whatever was of interest to them. They were crazies, had unbridled idealism and were articulate. Habiscus was their leader. His first brush with fame when he stuck a flower in the barrel of the rifle of a member of the National Guard. He was an enigma in every sense of the word (he has been dead some twenty odd years now). He had a vision but that kind of vision could not be brought to the stage. Try to imagine that you were told about a wonderful party--that is how you will feel when you se this film. You will just wish you had actually been able to go. The drag and hippie shows of The Cockettes were sensational and are an interesting look at life at that time. The vintage footage of the actual events is amazing. The Cockettes were the single group to bring n the ideas of gender bending and transgressive art. In fact what they really did was little more than have a good time and I had a good time watching them enjoy themselves. Whether The Cockettes played a part in the gay sexual revolution has not been decided yet. There was then and still is nothing to compare to them. They had great times and it is fun to see them enjoying themselves. This s definitely a movie to see, even if you have no idea of who The Cockettes are. What a wonderful stroll down nostalgia lane. 』

(Capturing Magic!) 『I lived down the street from the Palace Theater in the early 70's and had a chance to see the Cockettes. They were, as the film shows vividly, fabulous! The clothes, the makeup, the in-your-face nonconformity! America has become so bland now in comparison. I love the music in the film, the silent movie quality, and the way they pop back and forth between the survivors and their remembrances. It's visually interesting and the characters draw you into their magical world. They may demonize welfare moms now, but, welfare did give the mentally disabled something creative to do with their time back in the 70's. This is proof positive. Much better than pushing a shopping cart and mumbling, I should say.』

Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (A film in serious need of some heart resuscitation...) 『I should have known that this was going to be pretty bad, but I was blinded by the idea of Bob Hoskins and Denzel Washington doing a movie together. Sure, neither are especial favorites of mine, but both are very fine actors who generally hold my interest and entertain me. After watching this dreadful film I read that Washington soon after fired filming fired his agent (who was responsible for coercing him into doing the film) and I completely understand why. Luckily this film didn't really hurt their careers (every actor has one or two skeletons haunting their resumes) but this is surely the lowest point for each of them.
The idea behind `Heart Condition' is one that has been tampered with before and done much better at that. Hoskins plays Police Officer Jack Moony. He's a racist and a slob and suffers from a heart attack that will kill him unless he gets a heart transplant. Washington plays Stone, a lawyer whom Moony despises who winds up killed and since Moony and Stone are `blood brothers' (in that they share the same blood type) Moony ends up with Stone's heart. He gets more than a heart though; he also gets Stone's soul or ghost that follows him everywhere he goes. Stone is convinced he was murdered and so he tries to get Moony to investigate and find his killer. Moony is hesitant, because he racist and hates Stone, but he eventually gives in mainly because he knows that Stone won't leave him alone until he does.
The acting is decent at best. Hoskins is good at playing the gruff tough guy and at times channels a DeVito quality that makes even the simplest gesture funny. He feels forced and muddled here though. There are maybe a handful of funny scenes, maybe even less than that, and Hoskins winds up coming off as a watered down version of his iconic `Who Framed Roger Rabbit?' performance. Washington is not in his element here (it's hard to believe he had just won an Oscar for `Glory' when you watch this film) but he tries, as does Hoskins, to elevate the film. Neither of them can, but try they do so they deserve some props for that.
Chloe Webb delivers an atrocious performance as escort Crystal Gerrity. Crystal is the romantic interest for both Moony and Stone and she also knows a thing or two about Stone's murder. Predictable, I know, but what else would you expect. As formulistic or gimmicky as her character is, her performance could have at least been palatable. It is not. Her performance is a terrible mess.
I can't in all good sense recommend this movie to anyone. The plot is contrived, the acting is sub par and the script is ridiculously unfunny. It had the potential to really be funny or at least entertaining, but it became so clichéd and generic and utterly forgettable and that there is no reason at all to waste your time with this mess of a film. There are plenty of `buddy comedies' (regardless of what you think, that's exactly what this is) out there today that are leagues ahead of this one.

(Pretty good movie as I remember...) 『Okay, this movie is a little old now, but Denzel and Hoskins are a great pair in this comedy. Prejudiced-white guy is haunted by black guy after receiving his heart in transplant, Denzel becomes his conscience, hilariousness ensues (poor guy!), murder mystery of his death is solved. Interesting twist at end.』
(Heart Attack!) 『Beware of purported"comedies"with big-name stars but a no-name director. You might just get burned.
HEART CONDITION (1990) fits that cautionary note all too well. Starring Bob Hoskins, coming right off his star-making role in the innovative, popular and wonderful WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT (1998), and Denzel Washington, coming right off his Oscar-winning supporting performance in GLORY (1989)---one of the greatest films of all time, by the way---this mismatched nightmare of a"comedy"was directed by no-name James D. Parriot; actually misdirected is a more accurate description. Having looked like a spritely, funny romp from the commercial trailers on TV, I rented it soon after it first became available on video.
Boy, how wrong trailers can be! At the very beginning, during the opening credits, I was immediately puzzled by the tone of the film, as it appeared dark and out-of-focus, certainly not the"spritely funny romp"I had expected. But it got worse---much worse as it went along. Bob Hoskins stars as racist L.A. cop Jack Moony who chases burgler Napoleon Stone (Denzel Washington), then suffers a major heart attack; so major, in fact, that he needs to undergo a transplant, stat! Well, unbeknowst to Jack (at first), bad ol' Nappy Stone got killed soon after (don't ask me how, it was so long and so much interest ago), and---whaddya know!---he's got the same exact blood type as the racist cop, so the surgeon transplants his heart into Jack! Ho, ho. Oh, and for whatever unknown reason, Stone's ghost begins to follow Moody wherever he goes, demanding justice for his murder. They argue, occasionally fight (usually in front of perplexed onlookers who stare at the pudgy police officer apparently wrestling with himself), and before long---surprise, surprise!---become unlikely friends. Oh, and somewhere along the line, they (I think) actually get around to finding out who did Napoleon Stone in, but by that time, we're long past the point of caring.
Some of HEART CONDITION'S numerous major flaws:
1) It's not funny; in fact, it is desperately unfunny. A film that is billed as a comedy---which HEART CONDITION clearly was, as it featured a scene where Hoskins is wrestling a hamburger from ghost Denzel and the camera shows the third-person perspective of Hoskins wrestling with himself.
2) The visual aspect is all muddy, and completely wrong for a comedy.
3) The *sound* is muddled; sometimes it is impossible to hear some of the lines of dialogue, particularly from obligatory female romantic interest Crystal Gerrity (Chloe Webb, in what is among the very worst all-time performances by a film actress).
4) This movie was made as an obvious quick cash-in on Bob Hoskin's newfound success in WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT (see #1 for the particular scene that was featured most prominently in the movie's trailer).
5) The acting performances are, by and large, awful. Hoskins pretty much plays the same character as he did in WFRR; however, his character here is more blustery, bullying (not to mention racist) and completely unlikable. Washington, so marvelous in CRY FREEDOM (1987) and GLORY, I'm sure would like this movie dropped from his resume, as it makes him look like a horrible actor. Roger E. Mosley, the veteran African-American actor who has done some great work in his career (such as the 1979 Peter Strauss TV-movie THE JERICHO MILE, plus the popular TV show"Magnum, P.I."as well as the excellent 1992 Ray Liotta psycho-cop thriller UNLAWFUL ENTRY), here plays Hoskins' captain and is basically used as a prop (ho, ho, the racist cop's boss is black). As for Chloe Webb, please see #3.
Well, there you have my 2 cents on this POS. If you want to subject yourself to 100 slow minutes of bad cinema that passes like 200, then by all means go waste your time with HEART CONDITION. You have been warned; it comes with a no-laugh guarantee (non-refundable).

Picture "Watermelon Man" and "All of Me" combined, and done stupidly. The low point comes when Hoskins awakes after his operation and finds a huge black dildo his prankster buddies have planted in his pajamas. The two antagonists must work together to catch Denzel's murderers and save Hoskins' hooker sweetheart Chloe Webb. Denzel won his Oscar for "Glory" not long before this was released; if not for that, it probably would've gone straight to video. It would be a waste of time and money even to rent this (never mind buy it) to see for yourself how bad it is.』

Those two albums, "Silent Knight" and the one that followed "Worlds Apart" in 1981 were absolutely fantastic and kick started my love of progressive rock. I spun these two albums (on LP at that time) until the needle worn them into audio fuzz.
The albums that followed and ever since have not captured my attention at all. Sure they all "sound" like Saga, but the energy and production just seemed to not be there. I started getting into them again a few years ago but everything I heard was mediocre at best.
Then along comes "The Human Condition"... and I can say that my opinion of this band has been completely renewed. The production, vocals, and musicianship capture the essence of those early albums easily... as if they just picked up where they left off in 1981.
The sound is still Saga, but more of a progressive pop direction, similar to songs from Worlds Apart. Guitar work is more prominent (good!), and the complex soloing and jamming is all there and VERY good. They actually wander into some jazz scales in some sections which makes me wonder if that is the lead singers influence. I like it! The lead singer has a fantastic voice. I would prefer that the harmonies were not mostly 4ths and 5ths.... but thats just me.
On a whole I am very excited about this new direction the band is taking. Anyone disillusioned by post-Worlds Apart Saga should listen to this!!』

Some songs are strangely sounding like Toto's or Queensryche's....

(A new singer, a new direction?) 『Well with the new singer coming in replacing the much loved Michael Sadler, not to many Saga fans thought the band would sound the same and they were right. This band has indeed changed it's sound. It's still a prog offering, buts it's sound is updated and a little more mainstream. The sound quality is excellent and the tunes are solid. The new singer is very talented and has without a doubt put his stamp on the Saga sound.
For all the die hards out there, don't go down the "it'll never be the same" route with this band as the new guy and the rock solid tunes show that Saga is still a band to be reckoned with. This release is very fresh sounding in many ways and yet manages to hold on to the parts of the old band (for lack of a better term) that really bring this new outfit together.
If you ask me, this is one of Saga's better releases lately and deserves at least a spin or two in your cd player before you past judgement.
Give it a chance, it's pretty damn good.』
(Very good sound, and a great new vocalist) 『The only shortcoming is that there are only 9 songs on this collection. I don't know how a person would only be suffice in looking for one song to stick out; we are talking about Saga here. There still are a few gems on this one. Some heavier Dream Theaterish songs appear, and that is a new twist that does work with the new vocalist. I actually found the drumming to be better than any recent releases by Saga, and that was contrary to other reports that I read. I do have a few favorites on this CD, but it is the whole project that really sounds so good. Maybe your mood will dictate if this is for you at the time, but a relaxing drive with this disc is really enhanced. Keyboards are good, but I would enjoyed one of the solo songs that is many times done; still not worth knocking it down to a 4 star. I would lightly lean towards a 5 star, and that is with the respect of what this band did accomplish in a short time. Very good for prog fans in general. Saga fans may wince, but it did not bother me one bit. I feel they are a little better without Sadler now. Initially I would have given this a 4 star, but several more listens shows that this one really grows on you. That is something to look for! "Now is now", "step inside", and "crown of thorns" are really amazing works; all very different in sound and production.』

I read all the rewiews before purchasing this album. Of course I listened to the few second of them on Amazon. I was very very sceptical I must say. I mean I haven't bought a SAGA CD in ages. The last one was Worlds Apart and I loved it. After hearing more of the later years (not Human Condition yet) maybe 10 to 15 songs really stuck with me That's spanning quite a few albums since Worlds Apart! As I found out that Sadler wasn't singing I thought that's what Saga needed a long time ago. Sorry Mikey. I did like you, but your operatic like voice really didn't mix well with the SAGA sound or me. It was too dramatic, It really got old fast. (I remember seeing a DVD about SAGA and the reason why World Apart was a success was because of a great producer that told Sadler to stop with the opera crap. (don't quote me on that) :) Anyways when I heard Avalon and You look Good to Me sample I said that's really nice, oh what the hell I always said that Sadler was annoying let me give them a chance. So I bought it I love the album the new singer is great. He's got a powerful voice and nice harmonys. He's got some emotion perhaps not as much as Sadler but I think if it's too much emotion it will sould like Sadler... yuck!
The music still sounds like SAGA, which I like. For some one to say that it "still sounds like SAGA with the same intros and riffs, they could do better!" something about mailing it in.??? Well that's what I (we) like about it. Well that's what we like about SAGA is their sound. Great Work I'm glad I bought it. If they come out with more I'd buy them without auditioning it.
I searched for Sadler and I saw a solo album, so I listend to it and said I'm glad he's not with SAGA. (and I'm glad the Jim the keyboardist didn't do any singing other than backing vocal.) There's another singer that shouldn't sing. Sorry Jim I love your keys but your lead vocals stink)

(SWIMMING IN LIFE'S AQUARIUM) 『I hear a lot of griping from fans of classic R&B artists such as Teddy Pendergrass, Al Green, and Marvin Gaye that the new class of R&B singers aren't real. They say they're studio-enhanced, backed up by all electronic instruments, and no one plays their own instruments or is backed by a live band anymore.
Mint Condition makes these folks eat their words. With 4 of the best records to bless R&B in the 90's and beyond, Mint Condition is a multi-talented group of men who can have anyone who loves the classics vibing to their tracks.
"Life's Aquarium" is their fourth offering (there first on Elektra Records), and it comes through just as lovely as everything they've put out before. The first single, "If You Love Me" is a beautiful track showcasing the feelings of a man who needs reassurance of the affections his woman says she has for him. "This Day, This Minute, Right Now" is another beautiful ballad, this time with Stokeley (MC's lead singer) professing his undying love, beginning right now. Other tracks that are unbeatable are "Pretty Lady", featuring the legendary Charlie Wilson, of Gap Band fame. The uptempo "Be Like That Sometimes" deals with life's trials and tribulations, and "Just The Man For You" is yet another sweet ballad, this time with Stokley attempting to convince a woman that they're made for each other.
If you've never listened to a Mint Condition album, this would be a good one to introduce you to their style. I would recommend this for any R&B fan, especially those fed up with all the "digitized" artists that are out there now.』

(They JUST Missed The Mark...) 『When I first picked up this album, I would've never guessed how close Mint Condition were to coming up with their first 5-star effort in their entire recording history. I'm serious, the only gripe I had with Life's Aquarium which also continues to drive me up the wall with this band is the fact that THEY DON'T PLAY AS A BAND OFTEN ENOUGH! As a result the few cuts that sound like they were mainly done with the aid of studio gimmickry made for some unnecessary filler. Shoot, I was feelin' Mint ALL THE WAY on Be Like That Sometimes (was hoping Chris "Daddy" Dave would handle the drumming on this one and not some state-of-the-art beat machine though), Pretty Lady, If You Love Me, Spanish Eyes, Is This Pain Our Pleasure (live drums would've been PERFECT on this cut as well!), This Day This Minute Right Now, Just The Man For You, and Leave Me Alone (ending to this one should've been done properly IMHO) because those were the songs I truly felt they would be able to pull off on stage. Even the bonus tracks were hittin' it with the island-flavored instrumental DeCuervo's Revenge and the downright funky If We Play Our Cards Right (my favorite cut on the whole album!). I was left wondering why those two weren't included on the original track sequence in the first place.
Other songs like Touch That Body, Who Can You Trust (despite engaging lyrical content), Call Me, and Tonight sound so inferior to the Mint's overall musical talents that they were better off being shelved for the integrity of the album. That said, Life's Aquarium still remains a good listen for the most part. I just wish the band was able to keep the live vibe going throughout this time around. Maybe they will on their next project, if that happens anytime soon...』
『The world has plenty of R&B vocalists, but when it comes to actual R&B bands--you know, the ones with actual musicians playing actual instruments--the pickings are on the slim side. With Tony Toni Tone AWOL, Mint Condition are not only the template for contemporary R&B bands but practically the only contenders in the category. Yet the lack of competition hasn't made them any less eager or hungry. In fact, the band's fifth CD, its first on Elektra, is its most focused to date. Written and produced by the band,Life's Aquariumfinds Mint Condition in a more sexually aggressive mood than on their previous CDs. That assertiveness is evident on cuts such as the rugged "Touch That Body," the jittery bump-and-grind of "Who Can You Trust," and the soft wet kisses of "Pretty Lady" (the latter featuring a cameo from the Gap Band's Charlie Wilson). (Life after the Majors) 『After purchasing 20th Century Masters - Millennium Collection, I decided that I wanted to continue to explore this band, and where better to start than with their last studio release from 2005.The first thoughts that come to mind listening to this CD is that it's wonderful to hear real organic instruments on a release, and one that is willing to use unconventional instruments at that ( I like the use of Steel pans on 'My Sista, and 'Look Whachu Done 2 Me') Of the songs themselves apart from the fore mentioned songs above, I also liked'Whoaa', 'Luxury Brown' 'I'm Ready' and 'We Got Us', I think that 18 songs deep, this CD comes in too top heavy and could have been reduced to say 12 tracks. Also for a group known for their quiet storm moments, the one on offer here' Love Your Tears' doesn't meet the mark, and I wasn't feeling the rock offerings ' Doormat'&'One Wish' left me cold. The freedom of not being with a major allows the group to pursue their Rock cravings.All in all, a decent release, which with some tighten of the screws, could have been better. 』

Stokely continues to blow my mind vocally. He has so much control in his voice. I'm sorry, but there are not enough artists out right now who can blow like that on a cd and live. I wore them one morning when it was 22 degrees F. and by the time I arrived at work, my fingers were very cold. I did not wear glove liners with them, might have made it better. The dexterity is good, not great for motorcycling and the grip is excellent. Have worn them quite a few times and I am happy with them. (**REVIEW FOR MANUAL WHEELCHAIR USERS/ PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES**) 『I've been postponing this review so that I could give the most detailed explanation of Youngstown Glove Co.'s Waterproof XT Gauntlets, to more fully benefit those who are in A similar situation. First, as the title dictates, I am a manual wheelchair user (10 years+). My disability is Spina Bifida, L4, with full use of abdomen muscles and up. I live in MN. I purchased these gloves in early January, in the middle of Minnesota's traditional bitter and biting winter. I wanted a glove that would allow me to be pushing in moderate snow fall and drifting (6 inches, give or take) while keeping my hands dry, and thus, warmer. The week before I purchased these gloves, the windchill fell well below -30 F, so I thought these gloves would be good for staying moderately warm in said weather. I also wanted a glove that would allow me good hand and wrist dexterity for pushing and putting together my wheelchair and getting my chair in and out of my car. Not to mention keeping the gloves on to do any activity I'm engaged in at the time. To more fully explain the four stars, let me start by saying that I did have quite high expectations for this product. My needs were great, and, luckily, were largely met. Right out of the box and into the month, the gloves held together with all padding, seams and fabric staying in place and whole. The rubberized sections are especially beneficial to grip of most any objects. The extended opening, for the most part, keeps snow out of the coat sleeves, the only trouble I had was tightening the drawstrings on the bottom of the openings (It should also be noted here that I DO NOT RECOMMEND THESE GLOVES FOR PEOPLE WITH CEREBRAL PALSY AND OTHER FINE-MOTOR RELATED DISABILITIES, more on this later). In terms of warmth, these gloves work nicely in temperatures above minus 10 degrees (-10 F) for less than 2 hours. I have not tested them for longer times, but LOWER TEMPS do see a decrease in warmth time, even while staying active. I could have gone with slightly more insulation. What I would call "moisture integrity" began to falter when approaching the two hour mark. It's also important to note that, when at less cold temperatures (say, +20 degrees F), the gloves were feeling slightly moist within an hour. Even so, I do admit it is less important to stay dry at higher temps. One area that will be a struggle for some is the size of the gloves for what you think is the "proper size" for your hand. I do feel I could have gotten a XL pair and saved myself the trouble of "breaking-in" the gloves the first week or two, but the gloves do fit me well now. However, this is also the major reason I do not recommend these gloves to people with more severe disabilities. Even at larger sizes (and smaller hands) the gloves are hard to get on, and may end up being torn on the inside of the glove. All in all, I am pleased with my purchase, and plan on having these gloves around for at least a couple years. Hopefully this review helps someone in deciding to purchase a high-quality,waterproof, winter-weather glove.』

One downside is that the multiplayer is lacking in players currently but it's pretty fun with a friend (Akrid hunter is fantastic). Also the sequel is about a year away. But still, a great game for a low $20.

This is not a groundbreaking game nor is it an awful game. Its your run of the mill action adventure game. Along the lines of Resident Evil, Dino Crsis, and Dead Rising. The only thing i hated about this game was the 2nd analog controller. You can only use it to alter your Z-Target as oppose to rotating the camera at a somewhat 360 degree angle. Why cant all games do Z-Targets like Zelda: Orcarina of Time? Nintendo really perfected that flawlessly! Instead Capcom releases this nonsense feature that doesnt have a good Z-Targeting system like Zelda.
However, i found this game to be enjoyable. I really wanted to rate this a 3.5, but i'll be generous and let this semi good-Capcom game slide. Other than that, i really enjoyed my purchase and would recommend this title only if you can get a copy for under ten bucks. (A cautionary tale) 『I bought this game after reading all of the positive reviews. For me, that was a mistake. I've finished the first two levels, and I'm not going to continue. The problem is the controls. This game was made to be played with an XBOX 360 controller, not a mouse and keyboard. The 3rd person camera is also highly problematic, as another reviewer noted. There is no way to customize the pc controls for a mouse and keyboard, and some of the default controls plain don't work and make it very hard to beat certain stages. If you have an xbox controller and don't mind 3rd person shooters, then you will probably enjoy this game. Its conception isn't bad. But if you are a mouse/keyboard gamer like I am, stay away - you'll just end up frustrated.』
(Did I say Fracture was the best game I've ever played? Yeah? Well THAT was a mistake!!) 『Not to say Fracture isn't a great game. But there are 3 reasons I think this game kicks Fracture's BUTT. 1, they don't have Fracture for the pc, do they? 2, I realized Lost Planet looked A LOT like Fracture. So, I went and checked the release dates of both games, and just as I thought, it was Fracture who copied Lost Planet. My favorite game was Fracture, until I found out it was just a copy of a greater game: Lost Planet: Extreme Condition. And 3, Fracture has almost no story whatsoever. There is no romance. Not to say Lost Planet has much, but you can kinda see Wayne developing feelings for Luka. (and Luka, by the way, is pretty, and the girl in Fracture is one of the ugliest I've ever seen.) At the very end, I think Luka and Wayne might have been about to kiss, but I can't say for sure. The only real goal in Fracture is to stop the pacificans. BORING!!!!! In Lost Planet, the goals are to avenge your father, stop the Frontier Project, and find a better way to warm the planet. Final victory in lp is much more satisfying than in Fracture. Now, on to the real gameplay. (Oh, and by the way, I'm done comparing lp to fracture if you were getting bored by that.) Bosses. They're all great. I found the easiest to be the Mission 7 boss, the hardest to be the Mission 9 boss, and my favorite to be the Mission 10 first boss. There are 12 bosses in all. One at the end of each mission, and 2 in mission 10. Difficluty. I played through the game on hard. The difficulties are easy normal hard and extreme. Hard is satisfyingly difficult, but extreme is just insane. I cant even get past mission 2 on extreme! EAsy and normal are too easy, so play through on hard the first time. Weapons. The Weapons in this game are FANTASTIC. There have got to be at least 20 or 30 in the game. Nothing conmpared to the amount in Halo, but I don't think any game can beat that. My favorite weapon is of course, the sniper rifle. I also love how you can rip guns off VSs and carry them around, even though they're HUGE. My favorite VS gun is the EM Laser. Vehicles. The VS idea is great, there are so many; if they had stuck with real army vehcles their options would've been limited. My favorite VS is Wayne's dad's (of course), but I also like the NEVEC one that transforms into a tank. Multiplayer. Incredible. There are so many different weapons, guns and maps that make playing lost planet with Windows Live great. The colonies edition offers some new maps and multiplayer modes and even some new guns, which is a good deal for 10 bucks more. Don't get the colonies edition if you arent going to play online. The single player is no different from the original lp. Also, get the wireless Xbox 360 controller to go with this game. Only then will the game deserve 5/5 stars. Buy it.』

(Great visuals, intense action, well designed) 『I only played this in single player mode, so I can't comment on the multiplayer mode.
This is a futuristic scifi game consisting of eleven levels. It can be played in First Person or Third Person. I found First Person mode to be as good as any other FPS, except your weapon doesn't show as it does on most FPS games, which didn't bother me in the least.
The setting is on a mostly barren snow-covered planet with both indoor and outdoor environments. Weapons consist of both conventional and energy weapons. Conventional weapons include an assault gun, shot gun, rocket launcher and grenades. Energy weapons are laser and plasma pulse weapons including some plasma grenades.
Much of the game is played using Vital Suits (VS). These are armed mechanical walkers you climb into that mount an interchangeable weapon on each arm. These weapons are similar to the weapons you carry on foot, except much larger. On the conventional side there is a Gatling gun, shot gun, grenade launcher, and rocket launcher. In addition there are a variety of guided and unguided energy weapons. You can change how the VS suit is armed by picking up different weapons.
The key to the game is the thermal energy (T-ENG) substance that is required to stay alive on the cold barren planet. In addition to replenishing your health, the T-ENG also provides the power to operate the VS walkers as well as all of the energy weapons. T-ENG is available throughout the game, but if you run out, you will only be able to use your conventional weapons and will not be able to use the Vital Suits.
I found the graphics to be up to current standards. Although not bleeding edge, lighting, terrain, and textures provide for an exceptional variety of visually thrilling environments. The selection of weaponry is more than adequate and the many enemies are creatively designed with an array of attack methods that keep you from getting bored.
The game ran smooth with no patches required at the time I played it. You can choose whether to run a Direct X 9 (DX9) or DX10. I ran it on DX10 with everything set to max on my 3GHz core 2 duo with dual SLI-linked 8800GTS 512 GPUs. It comes with a built in performance test that shows you the frame rate through a short clip. The frame rate is also displayed during game play in the upper left.
To me, the game was dominated by the level boss fights. Getting through each level was only moderately challenging up until you get to the level boss, which took me multiple attempts to kill on every level. I found the Level 4 boss to be the toughest and wound up looking up a walk-through and viewing a youtube video to figure out how to get through it. A couple of the level bosses are relatively easy, but still enjoyable and innovative. I only managed to get through two levels in less than an hour (it tabulates your total game playing time).
Cut scenes and story line were interesting and entertaining. Voice acting was pretty good, although there were no celebrity voices. The character art was about the best I've seen in any game. The villains looked appropriately evil without being over the top and the good guys were dashingly heroic. The main girl character was the cutest of any game I've played and her movements were distinctly feminine without being overly sexy.
There was only one real downside to this game and that's the fact that you can't manually save your progress. If you quit the game it will start you off next time at the last "waypoint" and it's not always clear when you've passed a waypoint. I always played until I got killed rather than quit in the middle of a level and not know how far it would set me back. If you die in a level boss fight, it will always start over at the beginning of the level boss fight. The game is about average length by current standards. You can probably count on about 12-20 hours of play depending on how easily you can defeat the level bosses.
I highly recommend this game as a fun FPS especially since it's available new for less than $10 from third party merchants. I paid $15 and believe it was a steal.』 『

Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Kick-butt shooter) 『First off, I'm a casual gamer. I can hold my own with first person shooters and the like but I don't play online or go to internet cafe's. So this game is the perfect solution because I love CounterStrike! You just play against the computer and can choose from 4 difficulty levels to suite your skills.
Aside from your main mission of deactivating the bomb or rescuing hostages, there are additional missions for you to accomplish such as "Kill 3 enemies with a shotgun" or "Kill 2 enemies that have been flashbanged". So you have these mini goals that force you to use other weapons that you might not have used otherwise and it makes the whole experience more fun and well rounded.
The only gripe I have is the hostage levels. Since your goal is to retrieve all the hostages, it would make sense that you first kill all the terrorists to make the level safe and then rescue the hostages. But if you kill all the terrorists, the level ends a few seconds later. So you have no alternative but to rush through and get the hostages before your teammates kill the terrorists.
Still, it's a great game, classic fun between good and evil, plenty of weapons, challanging for even the hardcore gamers, and plenty of replay value.』
