Part of the "Extras" has Cosplay Identification 101. I was able to recognize a lot more outfits after watching it. It also means that I need to watch a lot more anime. The only distrubing thing other than watching girls jiggle and almost falling out of their outfits was the relationship other than Jenny had with Maria's younger sister. Maybe I need to watch more Utena or perhaps Gravitation to fully grasps the situation.』

I picked this title up at suncoast and was quite pleased but first ill start out with the bad: this isnt neccessarily a problem with this title, but with most ova. With ova's, unlike series, since they are short, you dont get to know the characters as much. But in my opinion this title would make a great long series as well
But on with the reveiw:
This series stars Chako who is in her schools failing cosplay clubs with her friends. Despite not being treated as a real club and no sponser they do pretty well, This story plays out quite well, as well as you can expect from something this short. Most of the characters are loveable, but lets get to the important part Cosplay. If you are a real anime fan, and have seen a lot of anime series, you will love this series. They cosplay about 20 different series in this title, including fan favorite cardcaptor sakura, evangalism, nadiso tv, sgt. from and others, so if you call yourself an anime lover, this title will not disapoint
While the japanese track is better, this is one of the better english tracks

(Go Chako!) 『This is a very funny three episode story about the girls of the East Oizumi Academy Cosplay Association. I do not know if there are such clubs in schools but this anime so yay, right? There are a few things which will either stop you dead, or make you immediately want this DVD. Number one: with all the cute girls involved there are some views of underwear (almost a given in anime). Number two: there is also brief nudity, of the mild sort, in my opinion. Number three: one of the new members recruited really *likes* young girls. This is played for laughs and I didn't find it offensive; it was fodder for some very funny situations. Actually, I am thankful that the Japanese have a different view and it is refreshing to see a female perv for balance. The perv girl does learn a tiny life lesson in the second episode : ) She also experiences a nosebleed which should have killed her when she finally gets close to Athena,the object of her obsession; I still laugh when I think of that scene. The DVD is suggested for 17 plus, which may be just about right, depending on your standards. I think this falls into a gray area between an R rating and PG-13. You have been warned, however. My advice is to read more detailed reviews at www.animeondvd.com and other websites. Although extras are not the best reason to purchase a title, there are some annotated sketches, as well as Cosplay Identification 101 to help identify some of the costumes in the episodes, and clean closing, as well as a Japanese opening. The opening theme is bouncy and fun; however, I prefer the closing theme,The Cosplay Marching Song as performed by the Japanese voice actors. It is one of my favorite anime themes now. Photos of real cosplayers are shown at the end of each episode. This is a highly amusing kind of whacko anime and has very memorable characters. The anime does leave questions(some of them huge questions) unanswered and the strong possibility of more adventures to follow. I fervently hope the series is continued.』
(Awesome new animé) 『This is a great new animé. It was such an easy idea to make an animé about the cosplay sub-culture, epecially considering how big it is in Japan. It is amazing nobody has done so before.
The animé is cute, and funny, and interesting, and it has heart. I know a lot of guys will get it because it does have,"fan-service,"but there is more to it than that. All in all, the main point the animé is trying to make (as I see it) is about the fun and friendship from the cosplay world. Check out this animé if you love animé. Might be worth renting or borrowing from a friend, but definitely not anything worth keeping in a video/DVD collection.』
(Kind of interesting.) 『What happens is this - a news channel takes their camera and asks cosplayers a series of questions, about cost, time it takes to make the outfit and age. Age??? Well, anyway, the camera angles are bad, either too close or the image is washed out because of the sunlight reflecting off the white or pink of the outfits. There are some sections that deal with material and what outfits are the most popular but as it deals with Japanese Cosplay the prices they mention and the store they visit don't really help if you live in the US. Frankly, giving it 3 stars was a tad high, but I'm being nice.』

Not only can you see right through to your underwear and bra (no matter what kinds you wear), but even your skin tint shows through this dress. (Great costume piece for the price) 『Wow, nobody in these reviews seems to be able to agree: do the boots run large or small? Are they narrow or not?
My take:
- I wear a size 6 1/2 in normal shoes, but almost always wear a 7 in boots. Same situation here... size 7. - I have a wide-ish foot and they fit me fine. - After wearing them around ALL DAY at Comic-Con, they did not chafe or hurt me in any way, which is more than I can say for most non-costume shoes. The manmade material, however, did make my feet and ankles get sweaty. Also, as I often find with synthetic shoelaces, they came untied of their own accord at a couple points during the day. - They're such a cute costume basic, especially for someone like me who enjoys dressing up in Victorian/Edwardian stuff! So far they have been durable and comfy... I thought they might be a bit of a frivolous purchase, but I don't regret it at all!』

Mishap with SIZES: I wear 8 1/2 women's shoes, so I followed previous review comments that said these run large and ordered a lower size of 8 (instead of going up to nine). One of the boots fits perfectly, the other must be a whole size smaller. The two shoes are VISIBLY different sizes, but there is no marking in the boot to indicate size. The only indication of the size is on the box. Unfortunately, I cannot comment on the ability to return or exchange, as I did not have enough time before Halloween to exchange, even if I wanted to. So, just beware the size you get may not be quite right...leave time to exchange if need be!』

(Flaunt Your Gaming Geekdom) 『I'm a gaming geek. I'll admit it. I pre-order Limited Edition version of games just to get the little bonuses that come with them. I buy action figures of my favorite video game characters. I often buy t-shirts and other articles of clothing that sport a chosen game's logo. So, when I saw this little tidbit for 10 bucks I couldn't pass it up.
What arrived (in only 2 business days on standard shipping) was exactly what was promised. I'd say I have a slightly larger than average hat size (not sure exactly what that is as I rarely buy fitted caps) and the skull cap fits well. It conforms to the shape of your head reasonably well, though the seams do create minor protrusions.
The tying straps seem pretty sturdy, though looking at it closely I think I can predict that repeated use or taking it on and off more frequently than normal will case some of the stitches to loosen. The logos are printed on and not stitched, and the "Gears of War 2" logo does NOT appear directly on the back as pictured. It's more to the left side, and appears just behind the left ear when worn.
Actually, comparing the image to what I have in my hands, it appears almost as if the photograph was flipped. Anyway, point being, when you wear it with the Fenix/Cog logo in the front, the Gears logo will be just behind your left ear.
Worth it for $10.』

("Everybody" Cosplay?) 『When I first started seeing Jan Kurotaki's cosplay columns in Newtype USA, I was interested, thinking that a cosplay guide by a proclaimed "professional cosplayer" to a sewing n00b like myself would be a great way to learn and improve. I was quickly disappointed as I discovered that this diva's tricks were more flash than substance.
I learned that she does not make most of her costumes--she is more of a model than a seamstress. The ones she claims to have made in this book have very sketchy details about them, making it absolutely impossible to gain any real sort of sewing insight on them. Some of them--her Rozen Maiden one in particular--even have safety pins showing. Some of her costumes bear little to no resemblance to the characters they are supposed to represent. Her Yuuko Ichihara from CLAMP's xxxHOLiC in particular is a complete hack job, only the basic dress is completed but she lists it as 'finished.'
The worst part of this book is the title. "Everybody" is certainly an ego-centric word for a book that stars only one woman, especially one who isn't really a stellar example of everything a cosplayer CAN be. She's not an exceptional seamstress, she's an average model, and she's a very poor writer. Unless you find Ms. Kurotaki to be attractive, this book is definitely one to pass up.』
(Kind of useless) 『Nice photography thanks to a professional photographer. As for the content itself... Ms. Kurotaki left me wondering exactly why I bothered buying this book. When the description said the book contained columns and photos I figured it would have a decent amount of information. I am a costume designer and enjoy checking out other people's work to expand horizons.
However, when the book arrived I was quite disappointed. Each costume has 2 short paragraphs of text with it. The first is information about the character and why she likes her/him. The second paragraph is about "making the costume" which contains vague phrases like, "This costume required a lot of fabric," (about her Chun Li costume).
Furthermore, some of the costumes failed to impress me. Some she made, some she bought, some she did not make at all (just modeled). Don't be expecting her to provide tips and tricks on how she made certain things or even what fabric she used.
Bottomline: If you're looking for a photobook of Jan Kurotaki in costumes, go for it. If you're looking for a helpful book for cosplay... pass this by.』
