customer 's review (Not good for actual use)
(Disappointed)
(Almost Too Well Made!)
(Looks just like the show but a little heavy)
(SWEET) I was surprised by the size of these hair pins. They're also pretty. However, they don't hold any hair. The ends are kind of blunt and it's easy to hurt yourself while trying to get them to stay put. I actually used regular bobby pin to hold the hair pin in my hair. That's so ridiculous. If you like Bleach, they're a good collector's item, but the practicality is 0. When I got them, I was quite pleased. They were bigger than I expected and absolutely lovely. But the pins can't hold hair. At all. I put them in and they just slide out. Being a Bleach fan myself and sister to another one, I was delighted to bring a pair of these Orihime's hair-pins into our house as a gift. It was, I assumed, a fail-proof gift, but the pros of the pins often directly result in the cons.
Their color is good - though a little dark in comparison to the anime - and the metal used to cast them is of a surprisingly good quality for hair-pins. (I was expecting cheap metal or worse: plastic!) Unfortunately, the metal used is too heavy to stay in the user's hair. My sister hasn't managed to keep them in her hair yet, and she thrives on hair-clips and pins.
Overall, they're a good product with a good deal of loyalty to their imagining in the anime/manga. I wouldn't, however, say that they are quite as practical as they could be. It takes either very thick hair or some help (hair-spray, additional clips, etc.) to keep the weight of the clips from pulling them out of your hair as soon as you've got them in. This was a gift for someone and they loved it but they said it was a bit heavy and kept coming down bit by bit, but she also said that she loved it so much she'd make it work. Other than that this product looks authentic but I think it would only be for big Orihime fans. These came in in only two days after I ordered them. They are so beautiful in person, and I reccomend this to all people! Orihime Hair Pins as seen on the hit anime, Bleach. Rerations < Bleach: Orihime Hair Pins >

customer 's review (BEWARE: DIFFERENT VERSIONS OF NECKLACE)
(ripe off necklace)
(Great for cosplay, classy enough for everyday use!) There are several different versions of the Naruto necklace being sold from various dealers. The one that arrived at my doorstep was NOT the one shown in the picture... the gem was actually a piece of metal (same color and metal as the balls). I would strongly suggest buying from another dealer to be sure you get the necklace featured in the picture. It is a ripe off. If I were you, I won't buy it. The shipping and postage is 3X the value of the necklace which is unreasonable.
I'm a big fan of anime accessories, and this one is one of my favorites. Its a perfect rendition of Tsunade's infamous necklace, and is one of the few in my collection that could actually pass for a regular necklace. One of the side charms slipped out of place a little when I popped it out of its box, but it is held in place by the plasticy rope very well, and you don't notice. As I said, the rope is has sort of a plasticy gripping covering it, but it is actually a very high quality material. I definitely recommend this necklace! customer 's review (Halloween and More)
(Pokemon Pikachu fleece hat) We bought this hat for a Halloween costume but found it makes a cute winter hat too. Durable and fun. It arrived quickly too!
I bought this fleece hat b/c my son wants to be Pikachu for Halloween and he does not like the masks that cover the face. The costumes that came w/ a "hat" type mask were very flimsy&the "hats" were not well made. So, I bought a costume w/ a regular mask&then bought this hat for him to wear instead of the mask. This hat is much more durable&better quality. He really loves it&it fits well, w/o sliding off his head or being too tight. For Pokemon Pikachu fan!
What a wonderful amazing fantastic gift for your friends and yourself! So cute and ingenious!

(A solid piece of reference material)
(A good book)
(Skeptical at best) I saw this book at (Bookstore chain name) and after taking a reading of the book, I have to say, the author knows NOTHING about Japanese Anime or Cosplay.
For starters, the "ideas" contained in this book is about as cheesy and lazy as they come. No self-respecting newbie cosplayer should be privy to such horrors as how to make the "cat ears" that are in the book. I think your better off buying them from a shady dealer on eBay than attempt to use the "tutorial" enclosed in said book. Or the ways to "combine" street clothes to attempt LARP (Live-Action Role-Play). And what were they thinking with the "suggestions" part? A Panda Cowgirl? A "Demon" costume that is only a bathing suit? Oh-kay.
And the misses keep on coming folks!! The cover art doesn't really showcase the interior artwork. Heck, I would sue for misleading advertising if given the opportunity. Most of the drawings inside are drawn in a western style instead of anime style, and some are outright creepy. The girls are big, beefy, and extremely masculine looking. Not the kawaii-DESU look you'd find elsewhere.
And to add a final insult to injury, there's also a section called "Popular Catgirls in Anime," and some of the characters listed are mislabeled and just thrown in haphazardly. Apparently the author or editors of the book can't tell the difference between a rabbit (Misha from Pita Ten), a robot (Ropponmatsu from Excel Saga), and a cat (Rabi en Rose from Di Gi Charat).
I strongly suggest you look elsewhere for your cosplaying needs. There are tons of free cosplay advice on the net, from [...] section is much more better than this book, and they have a very slanted view of cosplay, but at least their brutally honest about it and are upfront about it.
Only buy the book if your willing to milk out enough of a laugh worth the price of the book. I originally purchased this book as a reference for a speech I had to give in a college course concerning Japanese animation (anime) conventions.
This publication is good because it easily makes anime conventions and cosplay accessable for people who don't necessarily know what any of these things are.
The cosplay creation instructions are simple and easy to follow. Even when the author gets more in depth with the catgirl ear creation instructions it is very easy to read and stay on track.
What I appreciate is that the author chose to describe what sort of role a cosplayer plays at an anime convention. You are told what sort of competitions are usually made available to you as a cosplayer, as well as what cosplay judges will be looking for and how to give photographers a great photograph.
As far as the author's credibility is concerned (as a previous reviewer mentioned), it's true that the author is described more as a photographer than a costume creator. However, the costuming steps are pretty much foolproof, making the credibility not a huge concern in this publication. There are a few pages at the end of the book giving resources and general information, but these don't actually appear to be references that the author himself used. Or if he did, it isn't very plainly mentioned. It seems that the references are more for the needs of the cosplayer. There are artistic resources given, cosplay sites and forums, convention sites and forums, and general catgirl studies references and links. These are placed in the book for the reader to find the things they need quickly and easily.
Again, I am not sure precisely how the author earned the knowledge of costuming, but the book itself is very well made, and lt is a good piee of reference material. I would definately recommend this book for anyone who wants to have a handy cosplaying book at their disposal. I own this book and I have read it. It is a well-written, well thought out book about cosplaying as a cat girl. It goes through how to make the perfect catgirl costume in great detail. I would recommend this book to beginner cosplayers because the steps are simple and clear. Nearly every page is illustrated. The photos of actual cosplayers are also great. :) Nyan! Still waiting for this book to be published. I own other books released by this publisher, so I'm fairly confident it will someday happen. They'd better get the lead out or "the cosplay craze that's sweeping the anime con scene" will pass them by. They're already a decade behind the trend.
As for the book itself, I'm curious about the author's credentials as a costumer designer, since he's described as anything but. Does he do more than take photos of costumes and talk to cosplayers? Has he won contests at the upper level, such as Anime Expo, WorldCon, or CostumeCon? If he doesn't actually make costumes, where is his information coming from?
Why just draw your favorite anime character when you canbeit? Cosplay-short for "costume play"-is sweeping the anime con scene from coast to coast, and once again we're leading the way with a pair of books for both beginning and veteran cosplayers. Each volume features: transforming ordinary fabric and accessories into fabulous contest winners creating genre-specific costumes from scratch duplicating your favorite characters or inventing your very own cosplaying both for competition and just for fun accessories from shoes to makeup finding hard-to-get and imported items patterns, measurements, and sewing techniques money-saving tips and how-tos for cosplay on a budget pointers on the care and transportation of costumes resource lists, websites, where to find character models, etc . full-color photos, plans, and drawings. Volume 1 covers Catgirls, a favorite of fans fromAll Purpose Cultural Catgirl Nuku-NukutoHyper Policeand great for purring and prowling. Volume 2 is all about Schoolgirls (think "Sailor Moon") and how to make uniforms with just the right bouncy-skirt anime style. Gerry Poulosis a longtime anime reviewer, illustrator, and photographer. Usually ships in 1 to 2 months customer 's review (Quick Read) This isn't some kind of forever going in-depth kind of story. It's a quick one-shot book, that's an easy read, and somewhat entertaining story. Koromo-chan is a high school student, but when the dress-code rules are uplifted, she's free to wear what her heart desires, from the traditional maid costume(she claims is her "regular" clothes) to those "can-can bunny" costumes that don't exactly say a lot about your character, Koromo-chan's got it all. Of course, it helps that her best friend loves to make the costumes for Koromo, and that another student loves to take pictures of Koromo doing her cosplay thing. That's basically it. There's not THAT much plot, and it doesn't make your brain hurt from the intricate detailing of the story. This is more of those one-shot, "I feel like reading a book that's short." things. It's rated 13+ for some swimsuit pictures, hot springs pictures in the table of contents, and some language.
Pros: Short and sweet; Doesn't go on forever; Koromo-chan and the other characters are somewhat likeable; Cosplayers will get a kick out of this.
Cons: Perhaps a bit too short; Some people not like the total "Plot? What plot?" environment that this manga thrives in.
Overall, if you like shoujo manga that has very little plot to it, and you just want a quick read, pick up "Cosplay Koromo-chan!" At last a manga about cos players, for cos-players! Ever since the school president established a casual dress code for the student body, Koromo has been wearing her cos-play outfits at her high school (although she claims they are her casual clothes). Follow the daily life of Koromo and her costume-designing best friend. Watch as she graduates high school, attends college and ventures into the real world all in one fun filled volume!

Usually ships in 24 hours customer 's review (A wonderful reference for those looking for high quality, full color photography of various cosplayers from Japan.) Earlier this year, I reviewed Cocoro Books "We Love Cosplay Girls" which was an excellent book for reference material and the way the book was broken down to several areas in cosplay from heroes to dark side, I just felt that the book was well done, sold for a great price and worthy of purchasing.
Before "We Love Cosplay Girls", in 2007, Cocoro Books released "Cosplay Girls 2, another cosplay book that can be found for a great price and also featuring many photos of various cosplayers in Japan in a variety of outfits from popular video game, manga and anime series.
One thing that is noticeable is that "Cosplay Girls 2 is an 8.5×11 book, which the newer version is much smaller.
Also, the introduction features a pretty length 3-page article on the alluring world of cosplay.
Another difference between this book and its current incarnation is that in the newer version, you would see several cosplayers in the same outfit or from the same series. Whereas, this version breaks things down in several chapters such as "Cosplay Girls Catalog Part 1, "Before and After", "Cosplay Girls Catalog Part 2, "Cosplay Boys Catalog", "Cosplay Beauty Asuka and her 25 transformations" and "Cosplay Girls Catalog Part 3.
The Table Contents features the name of the cosplayer, the character name and the series its from. While in the main pages, a single photo features the cosplayer with the character and series below the photo.
The spelling of the series is more towards the Japanese romanization, so "Eureka 7 is spelled "Eureca 7 and a few typos with "Scenery" typed out as "Scernery" and a few format errors where a word's final letter would continue in the next paragraph but this is very few and it doesn't detract from the overall book.
The "Before and After" metamorphosis chapter is actually quite intriguing as it features several women, featuring their cosplay name, age, job, how long they have been cosplaying and what is cosplay to them. So, you have their before and after photo.
And another small problem I found was that you would have an odd page featuring the before's (ie. page 51) and then the next page on the other side 52 would feature their transformations. So, it would have been nice to have the before and after on the same page but again, another minor thing but nothing that detracts from the overall book.
Whereas the first chapter feature cosplayers in full-page or a large photo on each page, part 2 of the catalog features two or three photos per page.
And I saw this as a way to not make things too expensive as it is evident that there were so many photos that Cocoro Books wanted to feature but to make things cost effective print-wise, to put 3 photos on a page instead of just one.
In "We Love Cosplay Girls", I wrote about how it would have been awesome if male cosplayers from Japan were shown and sure enough, "Cosplay Girls 2 features a few pages on cosplay guys.
The next chapter features a "Cosplay Beauty Asuka and her 25 Transformations".
This chapter features the cosplayer Asuka in a few similar poses but wearing a 25-different outfits.
The final chapter "Cosplay Girls Catalog Part 3 returns to large photos and half-page photos.
Again, I have to applaud Cocoro Books (DHP) for bringing these Japanese cosplay books to the US. The third volume "We Love Cosplay Girls" was awesome and obviously much was learned from the previous cosplay books including this "Cosplay Girls 2.
So, "We Love Cosplay Girls" features a very different focus and done very well. "Cosplay Girls 2 has its slight problems but yet when it comes to these type of books, it's not a book that is for reading, it's a book for admiring the cosplay and creativity of that cosplayer (or its maker) and of course, for others, it's about admiring the beauty of female cosplayers.
"Cosplay Girls 2 does offer things that are not on "We Love Cosplay Girls" and the transformation and before and after chapter was pretty cool to see.
As well as showing a few pages of cosplay guys as well. So, it's good to see some inclusion of that, even at a few pages.
But all in all, there are big photos which selective cosplayers can use as a reference for ideas of upcoming cosplay outfits or to see how certain outfits were crafted.
So, it's a book that serves its purpose and all in all, for its price which you can find online at a great price, there is no need to hesitate in buying this book, even though a third book has come out.
So, check out "Cosplay Girls 2. A very good reference book for cosplayers and for those who want to see beautiful Japanese girls and women in cool outfits based on anime, manga and video game characters. Check it out! Enter the wacky world of Cosplay, Japan's underground costume scene. All over Japan hard-core fans of anime, video games and manga dress up in their latest costumes.
