(Great Visuals in Music) 『When listening to this CD I can see all the past figure skating performances that I have loved. I listen to it daily and never tire of the rich sound!』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (How about something original?) 『It's amazing how too many inexperienced bands can be as predictable as rain - almost all of them have that glossy 'stars in their eyes' look, view themselves as the best band to ever hit the airwaves, no doubt that they are the only members of their fan club. That is exactly what Magellan is all about. This is yet another of their albums that has no charm, no charisma, no memorable melodies, no originality, no singular identity - compared to the Prog Rock scene around them they are about as interesting as a sidewalk. And it goes on album after album. They play well, but what does it mean if a fine Heart surgeon operates on your Kneecap? The real beauty of any album is how often one listens to it 5 years later, and that's what this album won't do. After a couple listens the interest is gone because there was none to begin with. Shallow, derivative, superficial. Most telling is that as I write this, already there are 57 used titles available. And if that's not all, the opening track is called "Gorilla with a Pitchfork". That says it all.』
(Good Stuff from InsideOut Music) 『I took a chance on this album because they are carried by InsideOut Music. I was not disappointed. There is great musical talent and impressive song writing. Since I am a huge fan of YES, Genesis, and Spock's Beard, I enjoyed the multiple layers of sound on this CD. I even think that track 9 was meant to be a sort of tribute to Starship Trooper (the ending instrumental is extremely similar--I loved it).
I love epic prog, but if you feel like a break from 15+ minute songs then this might be a good alternative. It certainly is better than the garbage coming out of the radio stations.』
(my personal favorite Magellan release..) 『I've owned this cd for quite a while now, but i thought i'd put in my two cents. though i don't own much magellan, this is by far my favorite of their releases up to now and this includes side projects.
Anyone who considers themselves a fan of progressive rock, should pick this album up. there's songs you may have to listen to a few times to like, but once they hook in, they don't let go easy. there are also some great instrumental parts on this album as well.』
(A very good album . . . but"bombast"is good!) 『I think the statement in one of the previous reviews"doesn't fall prey to long, boring epics with a million ideas like many prog bands"is the exact antithesis to good prog rock (except the boring part, of course). Progressive music is supposed to be full of changes, complexities, different time signatures, instrumentation, etc. Do you know what you get when you remove all of these elements? Just plain rock 'n roll . . . and you can get THAT anywhere. Magellan is one of the many, many, many underexposed bands of this genre, and although Test of Wills is still my favorite Magellan album, this album is well put together, thoughtfully composed and HUGE on talent (I even like the new drummer). Long is good. Complex is good. BOMBAST is very good!』
(Best Prog Release of 2003) 『Along with Neal Morse Testimony, this is the best prog release of 2003. It's all in magellan vein but with a new musical focus. Killer of Hope is an epic one. The highlights are in the Trent Gardner voice, and in Wayne bass parts!!The best we reached on Late for church, a kansas oriented song!! Killer Of Hope" is a testament to their worthiness as world-class musicians and writers of complex compositions. The catch-all in their music is the way it changes so quickly. Trent will play a beautifully classical passage on his keyboards, quickly it shifts to Wayne banging out sweeping and crushing blows from his six-string, then suddenly it all comes together creating a supernova of musical bliss. It is like watching a volcano flowing from far away, it looks like its moving slow, then you find yourself standing right at the edge of the opening at the top of the mountain were the explosion is forcing out the hot molten lava from the center of the earth incredibly fast. That is what Magellan's music is like. Now that is powerful. Like progressive rock? This band is one of very best in the world so get this CD.』

Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Spectator's video guide to figure skating) 『American Skating World Magazine review by Chris Bothner-By Although there are many professional competitions and skating shows being broadcasted, the National, World and Olympic events capture the imagination in a different way, and they are the only ones where requirements and scoring are critically important. In this video, Ann-Margreth Frei places emphasis on the amateur competitions and points out the differences in requirements and scoring between this and professional competition. It is divided into three sections: single skating including jumps spins and footwork. Pair skating and ice dancing, and a brief discussion on scoring. Ann-Margreth presentation starts with an explanation of the edges on the blades and how they are used, and the basic turns, jumps and spins. The jump section is divided into jumps with edge take-offs, pointing out that the Axel is the only one with a forward take-off, and second the jumps with a toe take-off. All are shown as singles, doubles and triples. The latter two being shown at normal speed and slow motion. The use of charts showing the degree of difficulty of the jumps is very helpful for the spectator. In the spin section, all the basic forward and backward spins are shown as well as combinations and variations, flying spins and some more spectacular spins such as death drop and those multiple change foot and position are explained as well as mistakes like traveling. Footwork is included in the spin section with mention of specialized moves such as spirals and spread eagles. The pair section deals with the various lifts, spins and jumps, relating the latter two to single skating also showing the holds used and pointing out the importance of unison and the compatibility of size and temperament between partners. The difficulty of landing throw jumps and exits from advanced lifts is pointed out. In both of these segments, some of the recorded mistakes are retained in the tape with explanations of what went wrong, and how it affected the scoring. Ice dance, presented as ballroom dancing on the ice with a partner in almost constant contact, is compared with pairs, and the basic partner positions and some of the basic steps are shown. Compatibility of the partners is of course important here too. Compulsory dance, an original dance and a free dance are shown. Charts to clarify the type of scoring used in amateur competition conclude the presentation. When I receiced this video for review, I watched it several times before I decided that my point of view is much too technical for a "Spectator". I then asked various people who enjoy watching Figure Skating Broacasts, but are otherwise minimally or not at all involved in the sport to watch it and give me their opinions. My sample audience enjoyed it very much, and found it well organized "backstage"- this from a theater person-look at the performance techniques and training requirements of competitive skating. The viewers particularly appreciated the explanations of edges and their uses and of the different types of jump take-offs. One of them found that if she concentrated on the technical material she missed the beautiful jumps and spins, and felt that the tape definitly was worth repeated viewing. She now looks forward even more enthusiastically to the skating season on TV. They all tell there could be even more slow motion and found that the detailed explanation of the difference between pair skating and ice dance really helped in viewing these events. The slow motion also gave them a better understanding of how critical timing is to successful performance. There was a certain amount of curiosity about costumes. Of course the demonstrators are all in nice practice clothes, but this is not what one sees in an actual performance. The other question, which I believe is almost universal among spectators, is the control of dizziness in spins. I was both amazed and gratified by the very positive response the tape received and very glad that I had looked for outside opinions. It might be somewhat intimidating both from the points of view of time and expense, if this were a two tape presentation, but there was a definite consensus in the response that even more detailed information would have been welcome, especially since it can (and should) be watched in segments. Figure skating is now the second most watched sport on television, and currently gets more press coverage than even five years ago. However, the Spectator's Video Guide to Figure Skating is a welcome and needed addition to the material available to the public. There is no other source of information that is as attractive and comprehensive as this 50 minute video tape. Chris Bothner-By』

Anime Works
Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Beautiful...) 『I have to agree with others here...
This is a true anime gem.
The relationship that is built in this story is truly remarkable.
The end is powerful and satisfying!
I find it hard to believe anyone could watch this and not be compelled to tell others about it...
I will warn though: I didn't give it 5 stars because of the action. It is fairly canned and is purely to drive the story forward... (This isn't a bad thing) however the monsters remind me of watching old Godzilla movies (Not bad, just not the highest production quality by todays standards.)
The relationship with the two "sisters" will capture you and completely rip your heart out too... needless to say you will enjoy this. But I think too, you will be moved by it.』
(A little gem) 『Figure 17 is a bit unusual, and has not received much hype, so you may not know what to expect. Rest assured, this is a fine show, though it's not for everyone.
The core of the show is little girl Tsubasa's relationship with her new "twin", an alien fighting module which has somehow adopted her form. This strange situation gradually brings Tsubasa out of her shell, as she learns to trust herself in combat (with compulsory alien menaces), and starts to make friends at her new school. The setting is rural Hokkaido, and the slow pace and natural setting, and emphasis on emotional growth, give the show a character much like Miyazaki's less action-packed films.
The 45 minute length of the episodes means the show has a different kind of pacing from most anime series. There were a couple of episodes in the first half where I felt my attention wander, but generally the show maintains interest, and the format means sub-stories get a little longer to develop. Unlike a previous reviewer, I thought the colour was fine, especially in the nature scenes, although combat sequences seemed deliberately restrained visually. The music isn't memorable, but is well done and appropriate. I don't remember how the OP/ED went, but I know I enjoyed them!
So if you think you'd enjoy an anime with longer-than-usual episodes, and an unusual mix of Ghibli-esque emotion and occasional combat with alien monsters, give Figure 17 a chance to delight you.』
(Unknown, but good anime!) 『Figure 17 is about a girl from Tokyo who moved to Japan from Hokkaido. She left her friends and everything that she knew behind for her father to fulfill his dream. In the first episode Tsubasa encounters an alien from space who is in a battle against a 'Magyua', who is trying to destroy him and his ship before he crash-lands on earth, in Hokkaido.
Figure 17 shows the development of a young girl, and find who she is. She becomes a more confident person and more apt to deal with people.
On a personal note, I found this to be one of the most moving and stirring animes I have ever watched. It has small periods of combat; enough to keep you in it. Along with it's bloodless violence, it has a good story line. The episodes are long and at times feel a bit drawn out. They draw you in close to the characters so that you almost feel them emotionally.』
(Above and beyond the premise) 『Based on the premise alone, I passed over the show for a year or more. Based on some trusted recommendations, I gave it a try and found the work to be sincere. Takahashi N. (Chief Director) and Yonemura S. (Screenplay) were alumni from Berserk and bring the same focus on character conflict and human development that they successfully used in Berserk. This crew spent time and effort creating Tsubasa and Hikaru and letting them grow up in fits and starts.
The 1 hour format also lends itself to deeper story telling. Despite the trailers, Figure 17 is no cheesy creature-feature of the week; it isa story of growing up with an SF component. Expect thoughtful writing&pacing from Figure 17, not alien stomping action.
The animation features beautiful renditions of rural Hokkaido. I thought that the ending and opening song were good. Overall, the production was excellent.
Figure 17 was an unexpected diamond in the rough.』
(Beautiful) 『This is such a beautiful show it's hard to express it in words. The relationship between Tsubasa and Hikaru is the most moving friendship I have ever seen in an anime. Figure17 is very character centered, and the pacing is fairly slow compared to other shows. The series takes its time slowly fleshing out the main characters. The show is as "human" as it gets, and very down to earth despite the sci-fi element. Figure17 isn't stylish at all, and at times can seem very bland. This certainly isn't a show everybody will enjoy. Either you'll like it or hate it. The character designs are very cute despite being a serious show and the colors are very dull. The soundtrack is nothing to rave about either. No wonder it's relatively unknown and underrated among anime fans! Where this show shines is through the well developed characters and their interactions. This is not a happy show in the conventional sense. Neither is it completely depressing although at times it is very very SAD. If you want to see how deeply emotional a friendship can run, watch this show. This is one show that has left an everlasting impression on me, and certainly one I will visit again.』 『Tsubasa is a shy elementary school girl with very few friends. One night she sees a shooting star and follows it to a downed alien spacecraft. The alien gives her a clone named Hikaru, who's as outgoing as Tsubasa is quiet. As Tsubasa teaches her new companion about the world, she rediscovers it herself. When hostile alien life forms appear, Tsubasa and Hikaru unite to form Figure 17, a bio-humanoid combat system.』

Hbo Home Video
Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (If all the players had been identified, it would have been five stars) 『This is a great tape but it could have been better. While I could recognize many of the players that were featured in a clip, the lack of a caption or audio identifying the player reduced the impact. This tape is constructed from 8 and 16 mm footage shot by players, their families or fans. For this reason, there are few shots of game action, most have the players mugging for the camera, grandstanding or simply at leisure. It helps humanize the players, for in earlier days baseball players were semi-gods, baseball and its' practitioners were revered for decades. For example, a co-worker once told me that when he was young he would have sold his soul for a Mickey Mantle baseball card. Until the late 1950's and 1960's, pro football, basketball and hockey were niche sports; most fans of football and basketball followed the college games. It is also difficult for the modern sports fan to comprehend how popular and revered Babe Ruth was, as well as how much he changed the game of baseball. He single-handedly turned a base-by-base game into one where the emphasis was on the lightning strike of a home run. That point is emphatically made; there is also the suggestion that Babe's Yankee number should be retired throughout all of baseball, which is not unreasonable. As a lifelong baseball fan, these images kept me enthralled as I tried to put names to faces and actions. However, for me, being less enthralled would have been better if I would have been told the name of the player. 』
(More color home movies of baseball players (1925-1961)) 『The initial joy of seeing baseball players like Lou Gehrig and retired greats like Honus Wagner, Ty Cobb and Cy Young in living color is worn off when you get to volume 2 of"When It Was a Game,"but this is still a captivating look into the past. The time frame for these collected home movies from players and fans on 8mm and 16mm film is a bit broader this time around, going back to 1925 and forward to 1961, which means the oldest shots are actually in black&white and seem rather out of place, because once again the thrill here is seeing players and ballparks in glorious color. There is Hank Aaron wearing the great looking uniform of the Boston Braves, old Crosley Field in its green splendor, and Babe Ruth making his final appearance in a Yankee uniform at the Stadium. There is a bit more effort this time to have the disembodied voices talking about subjects that sort of match up to the images on the screen, such as Joe Garagiola talking about graffiti on an outfield billboard, Enos Slaughter explaining why he always ran on and off the field, and the story of catcher Moe Berg being a government spy while barnstorming with Connie Mack in Japan. There is a nice section on what lfie was like the Pacific Coast League when major league baseball did not exist west of St. Louis.
But whether you actually listen to what is being said or tune it out will not affect your enjoyment of these nostalgic images. At the end of these hour-long HBO documentaries, when they simply show shots of various ballplayers and superimpose their names, that is the essence of what makes "When It Was a Game" so special. There is Jackie Robinson in color, Hank Greenberg in color, Mel Ott in color, and so on and so forth. Even when it is someone we are used to see in color, such as Yogi Berra or Willie Mays, we are still talking a young Yogi and a young "Say Hey" Kid. A lot of the action is off field-baseball players in Spring Training wearing bathing suits and cleats, Yogi and some other Yankees sticking out their tongues for the camera, the Chicago Cubs in a parade before the start of a World Series game-but that does not detract from our enjoyment of these simple film clips spliced together.』
(moving documentary) 『All 3 WIWAG are excellent. This is more than just a well put together documentary. Its very moving because of the footage, narration and music. You don't feel like you are watching a DVD about baseball. It feels like you are watching a snapshot of Americana from the 50's and 60's. After watching this, you wish that things today were as they were back in those days. Not just baseball or sports, but life in general as it was protrayed in the DVDs.』
(The best baseball movie of all time.) 『This is no Hollywood baseball movie. This is the real deal. Exquisite colors and poetic comments from those who played baseball the way it should be played- as a game.』 『Arguably more defined and even more lyrical than its predecessor (When It Was a Game), this HBO documentary moves from a general celebration of baseball culture in America to a specific focus on various facets of the game's history. Once again using footage compiled from the 8mm and 16mm collections that players and fans shot over decades, this sequel follows, among other things, the special relationship between game announcers and fans and takes a fascinating trip through the story of the farm-team system during the 1930s, '40s, and '50s (particularly the near-alternate world of the Coast League). There's also an enlightening sidebar about the old disparity of capital and profits among major-league teams (as opposed to the contemporary disparity), and about how each season's funding shortages took a toll on such lowly outfits as the Boston Braves and the St. Louis Browns. The working-class commonality of players and fans is examined, too: imagine taking the subway home from Ebbets Field and finding yourself looking back on the day's game with a Dodger outfielder. (It could, and often did, happen.) Brooklyn's assimilation of the Dodgers into their community identity, a story often told, is covered quite winningly here, as is the heartbreak of the team's desertion to sunny California. Closing in on its final minutes, the film takes us on a tour of some of the game's legends and presents a touching tribute to the extraordinary Babe Ruth.--Tom Keogh』 『Composed entirely of never-before-seen 8 and 16mm footage filmed by the players, their families and their fans between 1925 and 1961, When It Was A Game 2 brings many of these precious lost moments, and the men who lived them, to life the way you remember them - in living color. See Joe DiMaggio and Ty Cobb, Roy Campanella and Jackie Robinson, Hank Aaron and Satchel Paige, Willie Mays and unique footage of the great Babe Ruth, along with rare scenes of the young Chuck Conners and Tommy Lasorda in the Minor Leagues. These are the players - theirs is the game - that won the hearts of America. Now you can see them as never before in original film footage that will transport you to a time gone by. Narrated by Peter Kessler with Ellen Burstyn, Billy Crystal, Joe Mantegna, Jack Palance, Jason Robards and Roy Scheider, you will never forget the experience, but you can always treasure the magic of days gone by with When It Was A Game 2 59 Minutes.』

Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Cute and Comfortable!) 『I love the way this bra feels! The best 10 bucks I ever spent on a bra!』
(best bra yet) 『this is the most comfortable bra i have ever bought and i have other olga bras. i have purchased some... ok a lot of bras looking for comfort support with no pinching and and no poking and olga so far is the best.it's really cute too. i didn't sacrifice style either!!! try one you'll like it!』
(sexy and good support) 『Great bra. Needed a lighter weight, low cleavage style bra, in black. Tried this on perfection..... I am a 36DD.loved it so much got a black, peach and nude. I was pleasantly surprised. good support.and comfie』 『Get the ultimate in shaping and support with this Olga Smooth Back With Supreme Support Bra!』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Great bra) 『My shabby old bras weren't fitting right so I drove to the nearest big city for a proper fitting at the nearest Nordstrom's. Discovered my size had changed a lot from age 48 to age 54! Never would have thought I'd be a D cup after years as a B! Live long enough....anyhow I ended up trying on a lot of bras and selecting a few different styles of Wacoal. Several months later all are ok but this style 65547 is by far the most comfortable. It is true I have to fasten it in front, then turn it, but then that's true for any back-closing bra I've ever owned. Comfortable and absolutely perfect fit. Coming online to buy more.』
(Let down...) 『Had high hopes for this bra. Costs much more than I normally spend on bras, but figured it was worth it if it fit well and the straps didn't fall off my shoulders (a common problem for me). The wide back closure with close-set straps sounded perfect for my busty but narrow-chested/shouldered figure. Beautiful, comfortable bra. But, alas,I was let down: it's just not supportive enough for my 60-year old 32DDs. The straps should be non-elastic for larger cup sizes.』
(Great active bra) 『I like this bra for several reasons. It fits me very well and doesn't ride up in the back or cause those ugly rolls of extra skin across your back. The back fabric is a little wider than most bras. The lace is very pretty also. If you are very active, you'll like this bra because the straps are cut in on the shoulders a little so they never creep down your shoulder or fall off during yoga or pilates. They would also look great under a tank top if the shoulder straps are cut in a little. Wacoal bras cost more than most but I think they are definitely worth the price. I'd rather have just 2 Wacoal bras than a drawer full of cheaper ones.』
(Proper fit) 『These bras are unusually comfortable for their lacey appearance. Also the fit is great for the not qute so buxom full figured person. I was able to wear it over a new back incision for hours from day 3.』
(Surprised by Comfort) 『I was pleasantly surprised by the comfort of this bra, even on my new scar from back surgery. Fits perfectly and I want more.』 『Featuring an inner sling for support, this semi-sheer Wacoal bra features stretch cups, a hidden underwire and thick adjustable straps. The back straps are positioned close together for added support. It has a three-row, three-column back closure.』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (LOVE this bra!) 『This is the most comfortable bra I have ever worn. I just started wearing full-figure bras (I didn't know I was wearing the wrong size before) and I wasn't happy about it. But then I tried this bra on, and I was sold. It doesn't look like a "grandma" bra, and it feels like pajamas, it is so soft and comfortable. It is supportive too, and doesn't feel too tight. The lining is just enough to make you feel secure on cold days (ha ha) but not so much that you feel like you are wearing a padded bra (ick!) And it is beautifully smooth under clothing. I'm going to buy enough for every day of the week.』 『Indulge in the superior fit and extreme comfort of this full-coverage Lilyette favorite. Style #963』

(Very pleased with this toy!) 『My son (who is 2) received his Woody Doll from UPS last night, and he was delighted! I was pleasantly surprised that the string was easy to pull, so that my son could operate it himself. He does get a little frustrated that his hat doesn't stay on very well, and he spend a fair amount of time carrying him around with one hand holding the hat on. But, overall he doesn't seem to mind. My son was so excited that he even put him up high when we went to bed so that Woody would not be bothered by our dog. I received two packages from UPS last night, (one was diapers), but my son wanted to know if the other one contained BUZZ?!!』
(Jenni) 『Love the Woody. I never bought one when they were out before... I'm glad that they came back out, so my 3 year old could have one. He loves it.』
(Newer Talking Sheriff Woody) 『My now 15 yr old son had a talking sheriff woody when he was very little and he adored it. My two yr old has become enthralled with the movie Toy Story so I went on a mission to find the talking Buzz and Woody. Woody was sold out of every store locally but miraculously Amazon.com had it. My son loves this and takes it with him almost everywhere along with Buzz, which can be quite difficult to keep up with all the time. This one is not like the one my older son had though. Also, this newer one is almost impossible to keep his hat on. The voice sounds different, too. The Buzz Lightyear actually sounds like Tim Allen. I really wish I had kept the older ones...it was pretty costly to buy new ones, but worth it to see the look on my little one's face.』
(Woody) 『Woody was perfect. I needed it in two days before Christmas to go with my other grandson's Buzz Lightyear. It took 3 days to arrive but was in new condition and next year I will order earlier.』

McFarlane Toys
Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (The picture is a bit deceiving) 『I've bought other McFarlane toys and they were all very good. This one however isn't so great. It has some very small pieces that come off (which are purposeful since they are pieces of equipment). But it's annoying they are so small. The biggest reason why I gave this toy such a bad review is because the gun doesn't even fit well - or at all really. If you look very closely at the picture you can see that the gun is just propped up there. Basically, the gun really doesn't work at all w/the soldier. It's a shame b/c I see how it could have worked had they engineered it a little better.』
(Interesting collectors, never the less an Amazon Exclusive) 『I bought this as a gift for my friend who's a Halo fan. Once opened, he was surprised that Amazon sold things that he had never seen before(yet marked with official Halo trademark). Then he added it to his battlefield/collection of halo toys and figurines. Hence, overall, there was no real fun factor to it since it just became a collectors piece. Perhaps if it was given to a child, he would have more fun with it. As for the detail of this figure, it was fairly well done. The small crevices were accurately colored and armor pieces were well molded. Also, the joints and model in itself is very flexible. The only trouble we (my friend and I) had was to get Hayabusa to hold the canon thing. Overall, for the price and detail, this is a pretty good buy. Especially if it's for a Halo fan.』
(Don't bother getting this.) 『This was a "recommended buy" with a large lego item I was purchasing. It kept coming apart, finally breaking - within the first day the 8 yr old had it. And he's called Mr. Meticulous because he's so careful.』
(Fun and Fast) 『My 2-year-old stress tested the toy and it survived several baths and lots of high impact falling (he should have been an ODST). Good thing he has very bendy/adjustable legs and feet! LOL! Shipping was fast, toy is great, son is happy. Yeah!』
(this toy stinks dont buy) 『Iam11 and i got this toy for Christmas from my granny. As soon as i opened it,the thumb fell off. What good is a toy without a thumb. As i took out the other one at home its arm fell off! There better off being collectibles.First,i would have wanted to know it was so fragile.Second,i would have wanted to know the weapons didn't fit in their hands. So if you are getting this for a little kid, good luck.』 『Fight the uprising of the Covenant with the help of Hayabusa! Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Very good guide) 『Good basics and an interestng way of applying color. Reid also includes his "mistakes" and how to correct them.』
(Charles Reid's Watercolor Solutions: Learn To Solve The Most Common Painting Problems) 『If you are an artist that uses a loose technique for painting your pictures then this book is for you. I on the other hand need structure so books by Claudia Nice and Laurie Humble are more my style. I thought this book was going to be filled with helpful hints and techniques to help me correct my work but after reading it through I have come to the conclusion that this book is not for a painter like me. This does not by all means make this a book that should not be purchased by anyone it is just not for me.』
(my master forever) 『Charles Reid is really a Great Master to me. His modified contour drawing method helps me to get into the right side of my brain. As he written in the book: "you'll concerntrate on shapes, connections and the angles and distances your pen will travel to create a new shape." How I love these words. Although I am a Taiwanese, I buy all his books and translate to Chinese by myself, then practice what he tought everyday. To look at his paintings, I found the oriental "Zen" in it. To read and follow the practice of his book, it convinced me more.』
(A Workshop in Print) 『Charles Reid's latest book, "Watercolor Solutions", does what I always hope for in an artist's 'how-to' book; it provides me with a workshop in print. I have an opportunity to learn about painting from a master watercolorist and observe what he's doing at the same time. Reid's painting style is wonderfully open with a use of color both loose and precise, so that most us want to know more about how he does it. After reading and enjoying several of his previous books, I find this is his best attempt yet at showing us what he does and how he does it.
Many artists aren't very articulate when it comes to describing what they do, but Reid is a very clear writer. I appreciate his analysis of his pieces, what works and what doesn't, as well as his tips about how to achieve certain effects. His sections on contour drawing and mixing colors are excellent as is his section on brush strokes. Even if you don't paint like Charles Reid, I think there's a great deal of value in this book for you, because Charles Reid is painting out of that great tradition of impressionism - catch the moment, catch the light - and this book goes a long way towards showing you just how it's done.』
(Charles Reid Watercolor Solutions) 『Charles Reid is one of my favorite watercolor artists. I have several other books by Charles Reid, so some of the information in this book has already been covered in those books. If this is your first Charles Reid book, I think you will find it especially helpful. He talks about materials, his palette of colors he uses, contour drawing, brushwork, value, color mixing, etc. He has section on painting figures, landscapes, and also a section on working from photos. He does have books on just painting the figure, and if you like to paint people, as I do (I have Portraits and Figures in Watercolor), those have more exercises geared toward that goal. As for myself, I just enjoy his beautiful paintings and unique style (and watching the progression of his work from his earlier books), and the book is worth buying for that alone. I could never afford to buy one of his paintings, but get to see them whenever I like by looking through his books. Doing the exercises definitely helps, as I learned to paint with watercolor from doing the exercises from some of his earlier books. I think the most helpful solution is just to paint. The more you do, the more you learn from your mistakes or successes.』 『As one of the most sought after workshop instructors, Charles Reid possesses certain skills that set him apart from his students. In Charles Reid's Watercolor Solutions, he shares that knowledge with readers, teaching them how to become better watercolorists. Through before and after photos of various paintings, the author clearly identifies the existing problems in the painting and provides a detailed action plan with solutions to rectify the issue. A variety of topics are covered such as still life, figures, landscapes and more. Readers will appreciate the clear step-by-step format, which makes the solutions easy to understand and implement.』

Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Origami for Dummies) 『The book was as advertised. The delivery was timely and as promised and the price, of course, was excellent. The shipping and handling were ridiculous as are most of the fees charged by all internet companies that I have dealt with. In fact, I will pay more for a product if I can get it locally rather than "saving" a few bucks on the internet because I resent being robbed by the shipping and handling charges in most cases.』
(Lots of fun) 『This book was a quick fast read with clear directions for making cool pop-up. Good graphics showed the concepts. You really didn't even need to read the text if you don't want to.』
(Basic paper engineering book, there are better) 『The book provides you with the very basics you need to know. However, I find Carol Barton's how-to books on paper engineering much more useful, and also, Carter and Diaz' The Elements of Pop-Ups much better. If you are a beginner, or even if you do know your pop-ups and need some additional pointers, those books are better than this one. As I said, this one is a pretty good basic book.』
(Disappointing at best.) 『I found the content vacuous, the writing insipid and inane, and the illustrations were inadequate and juvenile at best. The poor quality of the content was not helped by the cheep construction and poor printing of this worthless sheep sloppy newsprint paperback. Save your money.』
(Overall, A Good Book) 『I suppose I had received my copy of the book the day after it had gone on sale at Amazon. Isn't it a common thing for us to make judgements based upon first sight? Such could be the initial tendency here, as the pages are made from what appears to be recycled paper; the newspaperish greyish rag type of paper. Certainly not the standard paper of past Dummies books. But this is a book, right? Should we make a bad judgement on a book soley on the paper? Not at all. It is the content that matters. Don't get me wrong, you want a book that will stand up to the test of time (which I think this one will), but it is the content that you are after, isn't it?
As an initial, upfront summary, for those that don't want to wade through a lot of text, I have found the content to be nicely thought out, well layed out and organized. I give it an A+ for content. As as for the price, I think it is a good value for a low cost.
As with the style all Dummies books, this book is intended as an introduction to the subject matter, which is some of the various types of paper engineering and pop-up projects. It is not intended as an end-all in and of itself. As with all subjects, there are many other books out there that go into more of the nitty gritty on each of the areas covered. But as a single source book, this book does an excellent job of presenting some of the different types of paper projects, and it delves nicely into the specific area of paper automata (paper animations). Below is a bit of a wordy presentation of the table of contents, but it is helpful in having a look at what you would be getting, and I think it speaks for itself. (Hopefully the publisher will not mind my listing such here.)

Bethlehem Books
Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Excellent book) 『This book does a tremendous job of taking the reader back to the medical knowledge that existed at the time. It very clearly shows how doctors and scientists gathered their knowledge and practiced their research despite an almost total lack of technology.
I thought the early chapters on the life of patrician families set the stage for the book very well. This time period is very foreign to kids, but the book brought it closer.
The explanation of the body's "four humors" was the best I have ever read. That alone was worth the price of the book -- all sorts of novels I've read have talked about an imbalance of humors, etc. You figure out what they are talking about, but this book makes it very clear.
The maps, diagrams, and illustrations are clear, informative, and perfect for the book.
Oh, and the phonetic pronunciations are part of the text, so you can get a handle on all the Greek and Roman names. Excellent.
In short, this book is not just for 3rd graders. I'm glad I read it and I know it will be great for my kids.』
(Grandson fascinated!) 『Our 10 year old grandson started the book and couldn't put it down. He declared early in his young life that he wants to be a scientist, so this is perfect for him.
We are great fans of all that Bethlehem Books publishes. They are very accurate in their judgement of age appropriateness.

(Finally! The human version!) 『Well, it is hard not to like this little guy. Finally, there is a human version of Ben's rival and bad boy teen sociopath, Kevin...or as his "bad guy" name goes, Kevin 11. If you're a Kevin fan like me, you pretty much have to get this to go along with the larger, DNA Alien Heroes Mutant version of him. If you're not a fan you still might want him because Ben fights him in the cartoon. Thus, he's someone for your Alien Collection Ben figure to fight who's not an alien. Either way, it is hard to go wrong with him. The sculpting is pretty good for a little figure like this and it IS obviously Kevin, Bandai has done a good job with these figures. Pay no attention to the paint job on the Pyronite parts in the preview section...the color job has been fixed and those staring eyes aren't in the final version. So, he matches the show version. He's pretty durable...I've had him for over a month and droppe dhim, jammed him into bags, pockets, and purses, and he still looks great and hasn't lost an arm or leg. The only thing I'm not crazy about are how some of the extra Pyronite pieces...I have trouble getting the arm and random fiery piece to stay on very long. The face cover snaps on very easily, though. ^_^ He comes with a cool lenticular card an alien viewer, both of which feature his mutated form. The card is particularl gruesome...so it gets coolness points from me. Pick him up if you can find him at Target, Wal-mart, or any other vendor..but don't pay too much for him. I couldn't find him when he first came out, so I bought him online for only a few extra dollars than he was at the store (plus shippng...but hey, it saved me gas money driving around looking for it XD). These figures have fluctuating prices, so buy smart! And Buy Kevin...because even sociopaths need fan love ^.~』 『Ben 10 Alien Collection - Kevin 11 newly designed figure comes with its own unique display stand - designed to look like they are standing on the surface of their home planet. When your Michelle Kwan or other skaters, just a click of a button will make your jump successful or not. Graphics are impressive, the jumps spins and field moves selection is great! I can take my skating program and make Michelle Kwan do it, with a couple of revisions and she would do it better! The Music selection is great! I am going to buy it as I have the demo! I really enjoy this great game, and I know the moves Michelle's going to do because its what I do on the ice! Happy Playing! =)』
(Michelle Kwan) 『I am a big fan of figure skating. Michelle Kwan on Ice is a package where you can make interesting routines. To make sure your jumps land you have to have good coordination with the mouse. If your hands cramp up or you get nervous; you have to work at it. I had no luck making an original face(it looked like a space alien). I was almost stuck with the original but was able, somehow, to get the default copy of Michelle Kwan(phew!!). This reviewer is not a computer maven or a motor moron. What makes the package more difficult than it has to be is that there is no hard copy manual. There is a downloadable manual using Adobe Acrobat that comes with this software. Make sure you have the required hardware. The hard copy manual is available for $5. Right now, I don't know the limits of the music selection. If creating a skater becomes easier and music can be added it could be a more enjoyable game for myself. If it is just a matter of clicking your mouse at the right time...
For many people this game is not a"plug and go".』

Users may paste their own photographic portraits onto a range of skaters' bodies before selecting a costume and getting out onto the ice. Once there, players select music for a program, either their own imports or a song from the selections provided. A menu of options at the top of the screen offers skating moves: spins, jumps, spirals, poses, and transitional moves--everything you need to put together a medal-winning routine.
It is tempting to load your program with triple jumps and combinations, but be warned! Once you have put the program together, you have to skate it in competition--and there is no guarantee that you and your skater can make all of those jumps. A jump meter at the bottom of the screen moves every time you are setting up a jump. It is up to you to click your mouse at the right time to land the move. Click too soon or too late, and you will watch as your skater lands on her backside and your score plummets.
Michelle Kwan Figure Skatingdoes suffer from a few tiny flaws. Getting your face perfectly centered on the figure skater's body is tricky. It also takes trial and error to develop routines that look truly smooth, there is no provision made for skater fatigue, and scoring is purely on technical excellence, failing to reflect the complexity of real-world scoring for this sport. While the other required moves for competition are included, there are no options for the intense and clever footwork sequences required in both long and short programs. However, these concerns will only be obvious to devoted skating enthusiasts, and are minor when set against the vast range of details this program does get right. Everything inMichelle Kwan Figure Skatingis set up to put you--with only the tiniest bit of imaginative input--right there on the rink, skating for the judges and hoping to win gold.
Best of all, the illusion doesn't break once you have finished your program. Instead, the camera cuts to a shot of you and Michelle Kwan sitting together, surrounded by figure skating's obligatory flowers and stuffed animals while you wait for your scores. Score poorly, and it's back to the rink to fine-tune your routine and practice some more. However--if you win--you get a chance to see yourself on the podium with the other medalists, enjoying a brief moment of glory before moving up to the next level of competition.--Alyx Dellamonica』
『Jackson's phenomenal talent was on full display in the 1989 All-Star Game. Kansas City's left fielder crushed a lead-off home run off Rick Reuschel, and followed that up with an RBI groundout to give the American League a 3-2 lead. Jackson promptly stole second base, as well as singling off Tim Burke to lead off the fourth inning. He was named the game's MVP in the middle of his best season - he hit 32 homers with 26 steals and 105 RBI in 1989. Bo also played running back for the Los Angeles Raiders, and became the first athlete to play in the All-Star Game in two major sports. A 1991 hip injury against the Bengals forced hip replacement surgery, but Bo's baseball career continued - he played two seasons with the White Sox and one with the Angels before retiring in 1994.』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Awesome) 『I actually bought these to use as decorations on a cake I decorated like a football field for my fiancee for Valentine's day. Worked well for what I was using them for, and he loved that he could keep them.』 『Assemble your lineup and get ready to make winning plays with this officially licensed Oakland Raiders Ultimate team figurine set from McFarlane Toys. Perfect for any fan's desk or shelf, this set includes 11 highly detailed figures of the Raider's starting offense, each in 2-inch scale and depicted in pre-snap poses. Each figure features an authentic team uniform with name and stands on a base.』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Resistence good, size bad) 『I'll admit that this is the first resistance band I've ever purchased, and maybe I chose this model prematurely. Did you realize that this product is only 18" long? While the size may be good for something (travel?) it detracts from its versatility. The exercises you can do with a band this size are rather limited. The handles are soft and flexible, but this is not too practical with increased resistance. I'm off to find a longer resistance band that has sturdy hard plastic handles.』 『With the Harbinger® Resistance 8 cables, you can choose from 4 levels of resistance to suit your training needs. The "Figure 8" design is versatile for upper and lower body workout combinations, and the molded foam handles provide extra comfort.』
