Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Decorative, does what it's supposed to) 『This item is exactly what's in the picture... it's beautiful, fairly well made, and a decorative. The sword is a little big to use as a letter opener... and moderately sharp... but yeah, it looks nice on my wall.』 『An impressive display of medieval mythology, as a pair of dragons entwine around a formidable dagger. The dragons are expertly crafted in alabastrite. 9 1/2" x 3" x 12" high. **Alabastrite, also known as polyresin, is fashioned by combining oxylite and polystone to form a stone-based material. Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (A great album from one of the best small artists you'll hear) 『To start - Julia Darling is truly an experience - a beautiful emotive voice with that New Zealand accent, and songwriting skills that truly do outshine so many other stars out there. Where so few write their own music, much of hers is exclusively her own.
The best songs on the album by far are Bulletproof Belief, Grace, and Soak Me.
Bulletproof Belief is a simple pop-rock tune with fairly upbeat lyrics. God is not everywhere, and he isn't interested in every little disaster in everyone's life. Julia describes the fact that everyone wastes so much time looking to God, they forget to make their own lives happen. "There is no divine intervention here, just a girl with bulletproof belief."
Grace sounds like a heart-wrenching plea for love, just Julia and a guitar. This is when she is at her best. Voted song most likely to make you cry, particularly at the soulful desperate singing of the line: "I'm sorry to shout it out and lose all my grace. Answers don't come easy."
Soak Me seems to me to be the sound of Julia asking to have a bad day erased like pain being taken away by a good soak. Favorite line: "I hold the candle down, it can burn its way past the crazy things done to my body, and baby while you're here, could you, would you please soak me."
There's no doubt, Julia had room to improve after her first album. It seems to me however that the original reviewer was a bit bitter towards the music that came out of the Lilith Fair era. If you enjoyed this album, I strongly recommend her second album, self titled, and then her new album, yet forthcoming. For a taste of that, check out "Friend of a Friend" on her Myspace: [...]
For a different Darling, check out her brother Jon's band, The Grey Race, and their new album, Give It Love.』
(A good album...) 『This is a good female vocalist with some catchy songs and a little pop with edge. I think she stand well on her own and would recommend this...』
(A Nice Album) 『I first discovered Darling when she opened for Squeeze in Las Vegas. I really enjoyed her set and picked up this disc after the show. She has a very nice voice and her songwriting is strong. Her music if fairly typical singer songwriter fare with a some folk, rock and pop mixed in. Her songwriting is personal and introspective. Highlights of the album include the single "Bulletproof Belief", "Overloading God", "Bury You" and "Soak Me". Darling's stuff is similar to other female singer songwriters, but there is something about her that raises her above the average. She also plays piano and guitar and is very entertaining live.』
(Get this album!) 『This album is very, VERY good! At first listen, it didn't make that much of an impression on me, I felt it sounded familiar. But I'm glad I didn't let that scare me away from this superb disc! As when I listened to it for the second time, I discovered the great songwriting, and fine crafted lyrics. Soak Me, You, Overloading God, they're great songs, and Julia sings them with passion, her voice fits the songs perfectly. Her second album, Julia Darling, is even better - can't wait for MORE of Julia!』
(Wow......what is up Jason Josephes' BUTT?) 『I loved every note of Julia's album from beginning to end. I also had the pleasure of seeing almost all of her Boston appearances when she started out and was distributed ...I can't wait to buy her new self titled album when it is restocked.Julia was a pleasure to meet and and live she is breathtaking. She and her brother sing some very beautiful harmonies.』 『Julia Darling is another copycat of the Lilith Fair scene. What could have been an original reshaping of a well-worn sound is just another set of anonymous footprints on the beach. The opening cut, "Overloading God" sends overdubbed shout-outs to angels and spirits on top of the predictable folk-rock accompaniment of cellos and acoustic guitars. Songs like "Soak Me" and "My Inanimate Friend" deliver every cliché in the bag, sometimes two or three times in the course of a single tune. It's pleasantly done, and anyone who is already of a fan of Sarah McLaughlin, Paula Cole, or Jewel may enjoy this heaping helping of More Of The Same. Everyone else will shrug it off.--Jason Josephes』

(Thank you Wounded Bird Records for this new wave gem on CD--may we have another?) 『This virtually ignored new wave band had two albums in the 80s, and it's great to at last have the first album on CD in all its synthpop glory, with a couple of bonus tracks! Having not only the album, but also the 12" mixes of No Stars and its b-side mastered to digital is a treat. Collectors can only hope that the follow up, self-titled CD will be reissued with the 12" mixes of Accidentally 4th Street and You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet as bonus tracks! Okay, we also need the band's first few 12" singles from the early 80s--In Camera Obscura, Breathless, and Swimming--on CD as well! Figures on a Beach should have been a much bigger player in the new wave game, alongside the likes of A-ha, New Order, Pseudo Echo, OMD, and others in this style, but their only real notice was for the phenomenal dance mix of the single "Accidentally 4th Street".』 『Figures On A Beach were part of that late 1980s rock scene. They had a few albums on Sire Records. This, their first album, is making its worldwide CD debut. It includes four bonus tracks from an EP released around the same time as this album, 1987.』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Good Stuff From Robust And Prolyphic {3.5 Stars}) 『Stick Figure emcees Robust and Prolyphic utilize a style that is similar to rappers of the early nineties. The production is minimal with its sparse drum loops and horn breaks. If there's a flaw on this album it's the fact that some of the production can drag on and makes some of the songs a chore to listen to. Lyrically, Stick Figures bounce from topic to topic. Every now and then they tend to go off on a tangent, but those kinds of mishaps are kept to a minimum. Though the production doesn't shift gears that often, there are still enough standouts on this album to make owning it a good idea.』
(Sick album - Robust and Prolific) 『They dont have too much info on this album so I thought I would help some people out with a review. The group consists of Robust and Prolific, 2 underground rappers. You may have heard Robust on Sage Francis Still sick urine trouble, the shortneck girraff track near the end of the CD and he was also on Qwel - If it aint been in a pawnshop, tracks Art of War and $19.99 A.D. the best 2 tracks on the CD. Prolific is on Robusts album Potholes in our Molecules, a pretty good album in itself. Anyway the beats on this are nice they sound like circa 1993-1995 style and both emcees are nasty. I highly reccomend this CD if your a fan of indy hip hop.』 『In a world overwhelmed with Las Vegas-like neon and more glitter than gold, the Stick Figures hardly find it surprising that a lot of the underground's recent existing music is flashy and overbearing, just for the sake of being flashy and overbearing. Artists are trying to do too much, and failing miserably. One whack at the roots equals a thousand at the branches. Stick Figures represent the underdog in all of us. A worthy voice for the voiceless, fed up thinkers, a breath of freshness through the smoke and mirrors of mediocrity. Prolyphic, who was introduced to the world via production and guest vocals on Robusts internationally acclaimed debut Potholes In Our Molecules (Galapagos4 2004) as well as his own solo An Alarm Clock Set For 9:01 (Duck Soup 2004) is sure to be announced to the forefront of underground lyricists world wide. Coupled with seasoned lyricist and pillar of unbridled honesty, Robust, the Sticks form our fiery "F that!!!" to the conformed, stale mold which threatens to destroy our culture and soul. Stick Figures, as characters in an artwork, are a joke amongst artists. Its childs play; anyone could draw a seemingly simple circle for a head, and five rudimentary lines for the body. But it goes much, much deeper than that. The stick figure represents the complexities of life in a simple way, so that everyone can understand (i.e.: hieroglyphics, cave drawings). BREAKING IT DOWN, not cluttering it up. Lacking only the flashiness that is used to impress the viewer, but distracts them from the real story being told, Robust and Prolyphic profess that a snake rattles from the back but strikes from the front. Robust and Prolyphic teamed up as Stick Figures to bring back the age old unappreciated art of keeping it raw, simple and to the point... so they madea simple, raw HIP-HOP album that went straight to the point. Going to the bare bone of it all, the roots, with no make up or fancy dress cover ups, and giving it out raw to the people and what you have when its all said is done is a stick figure. No smoke and mirrors. To combat a world overcompensating for psychological short comings, Stick Figures emerge simply as those two skinny mother fuckers with big heads and deservedly so, as all shall soon see.』 タイトル『 Artists in residence: presents Eric Marlow in Figures in Precious Metals [VHS] >
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Not Only Kimble is Running) 『LANDSCAPE WITH RUNNING FIGURES is a two-part episode from the third season. It stands out from every other one, including the finale, THE JUDGMENT, because it provides tremendous insight, not only with Kimble, but with Gerard and his obsession to recapture him. During the first three seasons, Gerard is often pictured as a cop with no other case than the Kimble case. In the first season, he is given a superior, Captain Carpenter (Paul Birch), who acts as a needed check on Gerard's freedom to fly halfway around the country to check out any lead, no matter how slim. When the actor Birch died, no replacement for a superior officer was given, giving Gerard a free hand to chase Kimble as much as he wanted. But with all this freedom, comes a price that Gerard has to pay. In LRF, he pays the price of his too frequent absences from wife and son. He is on the road chasing Kimble so often that his wife, Marie (Barbara Rush) leaves him just at the moment when he feels sure that Kimble is just within his grasp. Now he has a choice to make. Which fugitive to chase? As for Kimble, he too is weary of the chase. In every other episode, he is invariably well-dressed, well-nourished, and emotionally on an even keel. But here, he is bone-weary and careless enough to sign his real name to a work sign in book, thus alerting Gerard as to his presence. Kimble flees on a bus. Marie flees on the same bus. Ironically, as Gerard decides to find Marie, he is on the right path for Kimble too. Kimble and Gerard are both hurting. In Marie's case, she suffers from hysterical blindness, and when Kimble finds out who she is, her vulnerability galvanizes him as he realizes that the chase between Gerard and himself has been a trio, not a duet. This two-parter is the most gripping entry in the entire series. It is impossible not to feel sympathy for all three. As I watched this superbly acted and scripted pair of episodes, I could see the reason why I tuned in three years earlier and stayed loyal. It is hard not to like a show that respects your intelligence with people who deserve your respect.』

(Fun to watch our hometown movie) 『'Twas fun watching my hometown movie. Didn't know a movie was ever shot in Cass City, Michigan, how come we weren't told about this before? Very cool.』 『In 1964 two high school friends, Brice (Bruce Campbell) and Cleveland (Christopher Howe) leave their suburban neighborhood in Michigan to spend the summer in the countryside before going off to college. They are befriended by a lonely farmer, Jack Bodell (Perry Mallette), who offers them a place to stay. As days pass, Cleveland helps Jack around the farm and finds in him the father figure he lacks, while Brice falls in love with a local girl named Cindy. The unforgettable summer ends too soon, but the memories linger. Four years later Brice and Cleveland drive up to Jack's farm and learn that there is no going back.....

It covers everything from Jordan's journey to winning his first three championships all the way to when he made his comeback to the game of basketball. The best thing about"Above&Beyond"is that it also has everything in between. It tells of all the struggles and triumphs he had after winning his third championship such as when his father died and the good things that happened while he was playing minor league baseball.
Finally, if you're like me and you like basketball highlights the best, it has more than enough of them. The video has highlights from Jordan's all-star games, championships, slam dunk contests, and much more. All the while, Jordan is narrating most of the video and some of the other best known players from the NBA such as Charles Barkley also give their insights about Michael Jordan. Bottom line is if you're a Michael Jordan fan, this is one of the best, if not the best, overall videos that your money could buy. However, it's good for a lot more than highlights. If you've ever wondered why Michael Jordan quit basketball in the first place, what he thought of Magic Johnson's short comeback, or how he liked playing baseball, Jordan himself will tell you about it.』
(Well worth it !) 『Watched it over 6 times already! It documents his first 3-peat, his father's death followed by his baseball period. Most importantly, it shows what it took for Jordan to regain is prominence in the game again - sheer hard work and practice. Truly a lesson in life for anyone - the video's worth it.』
(My Review on the video, Michael Jordan above and beyond.) 『The video was good and action packed. The music was good at times. Good highlights. The video good have been longer but was only 50 minutes. The video covers mostly 1991-1995. Shows some clips from 1988-1990. Covers M.J's Father's death. It is a good movie.』
(This video summarizes the retirement and comeback of Jordan) 『Excellent coverage! This video covers the years leading up to, including, and after the retirement of the World's greatest basketball player, Michael Jordan. Behind-the-scenes footage never before seen, and tremendous highlight reels. A must for a Michael Jordan fan!』 『New to DVD! Seventeen months after Michael retired, he came back with a new challenge-to show himself and the world that he could live up to and even surpass his own awesome legend. Michael speaks about his retirement and his incredible return to the NBA.』 『In the opening five minutes of this documentary two memorable quotes immediately grab your attention. The first comes from an enthusiastic commentator who rhetorically asks, "Whose game is it? Michael Jordan's game." This may have been said in a moment of energetic excitement, but the words ring true. As do the more seasoned and professional articulations of former Phoenix Suns coach Paul Westphal, who after losing to Jordan's Chicago Bulls in the world championship, profoundly states what the world already knew: "No one can stop him." Apparently, the only man who could stop His Airness was Michael himself.
This documentary and personal interview recaps three of the most perplexing, entertaining, overwhelming, courageous, and painful years of Michael Jordan's life. Starting with the culmination of the 1993 season that saw his Bulls win a third straight championship to his much publicized and triumphant comeback in 1995. His first retirement in 1993 came on the heels of a season that had many ups and downs for a pensive Jordan, who began to have doubts about his ability to feel challenged by professional basketball. Jordan's main concern was feeling ambivalent about his gift to play the game that he loved. When his father was tragically murdered, his hand was forced, as he sensationally declared his retirement at the age of 30. Jordan exiled himself from the game as he came to terms, away from the court, with himself and his father's death. He tried his hand at baseball and a spot of acting but soon returned to the game he adored, much to the adulation of his fans and the world of sports. In many ways this is probably one of the most important biographies on Michael Jordan, because it doesn't focus solely on his game or those last-minute triumphs (his clutch shooting, for example, is so identifiable with his style of play that one day "doing a Jordan" may be a universal term recognizing greatness and reliability under pressure). Instead, this is a journey into the heart and soul of an enigmatic icon that has often been misunderstood.--Jeremy Storey』

(I recommend this DVD! Artists of all levels will be more creative!) 『BILL BUCHMAN ART IS AN ATTITUDE: The Art of Drawing the Figure Essential Exercises by Bill Buchman http://www.billbuchman.com For beginning artists or advanced or professional. Color/DVD. Zone-free format: NTSC. 90 min. Nude art model.
Traditionally, art instruction separates technique from creativity. In this excellent art-instruction DVD, Bill Buchman innovatively uses technique to open up your creativity, to let bloom the soul and expressiveness of your figure art!
Mr Buchman's openminded, lighthearted artistic style is about fluidity and flow, free-spirited boldness blended with joy and fun, the pure poetic *art* of a picture appearing from the simple essence of revealing form from what you see. With an almost-zen-oriental philosophy that focuses on the process not the result, Mr Buchman shows you how to use mass, line, contour, direction, and expressive gesture to keep your art loose and free all the time, to let the line, the ink, the paint, have a life of its own. "To draw is to risk," Mr Buchman reassures us.
Start and stay with the fundamentals, he says, and keep things simple: "All drawing is simplification." See the big shapes, the ones that really count, and let the line and values have a life of their own and the sense of the drawing will appear, almost as if by magic. Trust in yourself. Trust in exercises as educational investment. Be confident and patient with yourself; have faith that pure art will emerge from what you do.
Much like the DVD's light jazz background music, Mr Buchman is a friendly, pleasant, encouraging teacher, rather gentle and affirming in his approach. He explains things clearly and thoroughly. As for qualifications, Mr Buchman has been an artist and teacher for many years, since he studied life drawing in the 1960s with impressive art mentors, including Victor D'Amico, education director of the Museum of Modern Art.
This DVD feels full: 90 minutes of one art technique and exercise after another, in the form of a private lesson in Mr Buchman's studio. You get to look over Mr Buchman's shoulder as he demonstrates twenty-five fundamental figure-art techniques -- including his own invention, the delightful continuous-contour drawing technique he calls "Loop De Loop" -- and simultaneously reveals his methods for developing proficiency with conte crayon, gel pen, ink wash, sumi brush, pastels, acrylic ink, watercolor crayons, and even a reed pen (as Van Gogh used). And you can use the DVD's menu to re-watch particular lessons as you like.
I personally love realistic, representational art more than any other, but Bill Buchman's abstract impressionist art -- especially when he uses color -- is lovely and full of life, in a way even the finest realistic art could never be. I 've collected a hundred books and videos that show me how to draw more realistically, and I treasure each one. But I was delighted to watch this DVD and feel an uplifting permission to be much more free in creating my art and still trust that it will be all right -- that what I create will truly be art, maybe even more so than what I've been creating for years, so carefully and so cautiously.
Mr Buchman's art is not based on realism. This DVD will not teach you to more realistically draw the human face, the hands and feet (in fact, Mr Buchman favors the torso and persuasively argues that trying to render too much detail in face, hands, and feet can ruin a work faster than anything.) This DVD will help you open up your art and make it more creative and fluid and wonderful and enjoyable. I heartily recommend it, for artists of all levels. I found the video to be extremely helpful, and I was able to apply the exercises immediately and to good effect. This video is a much more effective teaching medium than a book (even though it is considerably more expensive than a book), and I highly recommend it.』 『Artist Bill Buchman demonstrates how to make beautiful drawings of the nude model one step at a time. Buchman, an innovative teacher and excellent communicator, has empowered students and artists of all levels to make progress with the figure beyond their expectations. Using a live model, Bill demonstrates convincingly, on this exciting and useful instructional DVD, his remarkable techniques for creating powerful, beautiful and timeless drawings. Look over Bill's shoulder and listen as fascinating drawings appear line by line while he reveals his methods for developing proficiency with Conté crayon, gel pen, ink wash, Sumi brush, soft pastels, watercolor crayons and reed pen. This film offers rich resources to the experienced or beginning artist looking for new and inspiring ways to draw. The viewer will get an inside look at the drawing process and see just how interesting and exciting it can be. Whoever encounters Bill's figure drawing world may find that it brings out an immediate and irresistible urge to take up pen and brush! In addition to the one hour and 25 minute feature presentation the DVD contains an illustrated glossary of art terms, a complete list of materialsused, a chapter menu which enables the viewer to instantly access any of the 25 drawing demonstrations, and contact information for further coursework.』

(Thanator, Na'Vi for "Hard to put together") 『My biggest issue is trying to put this thing together. I've put together McFarlane dragons for a while now, but DAMN is this thing irritating. It takes forever to get the joints (there are 9) put together, particularly connecting the head to the neck and the tail to the body. If I wanted to put something together I would have gotten a Zord or Legos. Once it is put together it is pretty awesome though.』
(Great Fun (with a tiny catch)) 『This is a great action figure. It is worth the money, and like the other reviewers already stated, it is nicely molded and very articulated. The back legs do not have as much motion as the forelegs though and the tail does not move at all. The only catch is, the Thanator is not put together when you buy it. It comes in 10 peices, body, neck, head, tail and six legs. Most of it snaps together fairly easily for an adult. But the tail is a very hard snap-in. I had troubles with it and one of the forelegs. Once that tail is in though, its not coming out (if you did it right). Its well worth the trouble of assembly.』
(This Thanator figure is AWESOME!!!) 『Being a collector of all things creature in the was or toys and figures, i was very excited for these Avatar creature action figures. This Thanator figure is fantastic! The mold of him is very detailed, showing skin texture, scales, wrinkles, and great musculature. And and even the black/blue coloration fits in with the creatures texture and muscle, having lighter and darker areas enhancing the detail (as opposed to being solid colored). He is quite pose-able and stands just perfectly on his own. The figure snaps together easily and thus far seems very sturdy. My only dissapointment is that his jaws, while movable, barely open that wide at all! So how is he supposed to eat people? :D
Overall, this is a utterly fa-nominal figure and i defiantly recommend it! 』
(Avatar's Thanator collectible figure) 『This is a terrific item for collectors and as a toy. Great accuracy with the movie creature, and it does indeed work well with the avatar Navi figures of the smaller size. Again, 100 pieces of drawings from great masters are selected for analysing.
Compared to Drawing Lesson, this book is much more straightforward. The book is really like an anatomy reference which points you the parts of the body to look for. This pointing and labeling of parts isn't really called analyzing. It lacks the insight that goes into the creative process of these art masters. By comparison Drawing Lessons from the Great Masters really explores the thought process that goes into creating art.
While there are the usual anatomical reference drawings at the back, showing the bones and muscles from from and back views, it's not as comprehensive as other anatomy reference books.
The good thing about this book is of course the figure drawings. Most of them are sketches. It's really inspirational to look at the drawings created around the 15 century by artists like Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Rubens, Raphael, and other masters.
This book is not really an essential buy unless you're buying for the drawings.
I prefer Joseph Sheppard's Drawing the Living Figure which features a similar teaching style and has beautiful life drawings.

(Good for Antamoy References) 『I will just say that this is very helpful for reference to specific part of the human anatomy. Especially the skeletal and muscular diagrams at the back of the book.』
(Good book) 『for us amateaur artists who want inspiration to create great works of art. This book shows the details of the human body and how great artists drew from live and dead bodies as they create the greatest masterpieces in art history.』
(Practice practice practice) 『I took an art class at the junior college and the instructor suggested copying the masters to improve drawing skills. I bought this book and copied every picture. Not only did it familiarize me with many artists I had not heard of but, over time my drawing skills improved dramatically. I am now buying collections of drawings of other artists and copying. I highly recommend the book not only as a reference but also to be used to improve skills. I have an engineering background, not art and this helped immensely.』
(Good book, but lacks in the following.) 『Pick up this book if you are looking for a great artistic anatomy reference book. If you are looking for more than reference, however, you might want to look elsewhere. While this book is definitely good, it doesn't give the artist direction in how to draw or depict the illustrations. The text is pretty much straight-forward, usually only noting the parts of the bodies in the images. Second, this book lacks the poetic and great writing of Robert Beverly Hale.
Anatomy Lessons from the Great Masters is more of an extra reference book or a supplement to Drawing Lessons from the Great Masters. In that book, Hale really teaches to the reader whats needed to depict anatomy, what steps the artist must take, gives tips on how to become a great or accomplished artist, why the artists of the past were so good, what mistakes beginners of figure drawing usually make, and sooooo much more. It's pretty much an incredible book to have even if you're not into figure drawing.
I think Anatomy Lessons would probably be more highly regarded in my eyes had Drawing Lessons been nonexistent. Anatomy Lessons is great for further reference, if thats what you're looking for though. I probably wouldn't recommend anyone to buy this book unless you already own or have thoroughly read and studied Drawing Lessons by the Great Masters.』
『Anatomy Lessons from the Great Mastersprovides an anatomical counterpart to Robert Beverly Hale's classic reference book,Drawing Lessons from the Great Masters. Terence Coyle, who for several years assisted Hale at the Art Students League of New York, kept detailed notes of Hale's lectures and teaching methods. He combined these notes with 100 drawings to illustrate how the great masters portrayed specific parts of the human physique. As Hale points out, master artists such as Rembrandt, Leonardo, and Raphael "absorbed the technical details of anatomy so well that these details could be set down instinctively.... If an artist has to occupy his mind with the task of clumsily grouping the elemental facts of anatomy as he draws, there can be little room left for really important matters--such as the spirit of the drawing and the artist's expressive intent." Coyle provides several examples within the study of each anatomical area to illustrate the variety of styles and methods employed by the masters. The book treats, in order, the rib cage, the pelvis and thigh, the knee and lower leg, the foot, the shoulder girdle, the arm, the hand, and the neck and head. A complete series of anatomical reference plates by Dr. Paul Richer is included. By applying the timeless anatomical principles the great masters have handed down to us, any artist can begin to acquire the means by which to express the "really important matters."--Mary Ribesky』 『This classic book, whose foremost author was one of the great artistic anatomy teachers of the twentieth century, is an invaluable instructor and reference guide for any professional, amateur, or student artist who depicts the human form. Revealing the drawing principles behind one hundred inspiring masterpieces, the book presents work by Leonardo, Michelangelo, Rubens, Raphael, Titian, Rembrandt, and other greats. These superb portrayers of figures knew that the secret of drawing them was seeing how underlying bone and muscle structures mold the body's surface forms. Readers are shown how to learn from these great examples as the authors guide them through all the steps they would take in a life class or studio working with live models.』

That's the quote on the back cover. I've my doubts on that comparison but after looking at the figure drawings, yes, it seems the praise is well deserved.
Drawing the Living Figure uses life drawings from models to teach human anatomy. Joseph Sheppard has included 70 drawings of models in different poses, from standing to reclining. Most are accompanied by two diagrams, one for bones and other for muscles, showing how they affect surface form. These drawings are carefully annotated and selective parts are highlighted.
I prefer this book a bit more than Anatomy Lessons from the Great Masters, which has a similar teaching style. The difference is here it doesn't include rough sketches, each piece is a refined completed figure drawing. The drawings are detailed, clear and beautiful.
No prior knowledge of anatomy is required to enjoy this book. It's great for beginner to advanced artists as an alternative reference.
(There are more pictures of the book on my blog. Just visit my Amazon profile for the link.)』
(More like an Anatomy book.) 『I didn't expect this book to be more like an anatomy guide. It has scientific labels on the different muscles and skeletal parts. I was hoping to get just an illustration book on the human figure. This one is more of a scientific reference. The illustrations are very well done though.』
(Great Anatomy Basics) 『Are you an aspiring artist looking for anatomy basics and need to know a bit about muscle and bone structure?
This book is for you. It's not an "all you can do with a pencil guide or anything of that nature." Instead it focuses on anatomy with bone, muscle, and skin structure. It gives you three steps for every drawing, starting with the skeleton and let me tell you I've been drawing skulls repeatedly to gain an understanding of the human skull and how it works. It's splendid, if you're wanting to splurge into the human anatomy and don't have deep pockets, this is a great buy. Buy it if you need to study the human skull, bones in general, or practice life drawing. Every drawing has a completed and shaded model to boot. I will purchase more anatomy books for additional knowledge but this is a great buy for the aspiring artist.』
(Absolutely love it) 『As someone else mentioned, this goes in with my George Bridgman books. The terminology is simple, and doesn't get too medical. I really loved the variety of figures used, though I'd love to see more plus sized models in the male side and a more plump female figure.
Sheppard lays out key points in observing how muscles and bones affect the surface anatomy of a figure. It shows you how for example the pelvis shows up and how muscle and fat distribution affects the legs, hips etc.
Sheppard is rather concise and to the point, where many other anatomy books become too technical and you end up getting lost in the details.
The other thing to mention is the price. Bridgman and Sheppard's books are rather inexpensive compared to many other anatomy and figure drawing books out there. This is a definite selling point!』
(Just What You Need) 『Between the simplified cartoon anatomy books, popular today, and the detailed treatments inspired by medical textbooks, is this fine work. This book is built from the ground up for artists. By focusing on surface anatomy, showing its relation to underlying muscle and bone structure, and then presenting it all with a multitude of useful and expertly done drawings, Sheppard has produced what may be the finest anatomical artist reference.
Most professional artists recommend Bridgeman's works. I don't doubt the usefulness of Bridgeman to a true working professional, but for me, and maybe other amateurs, the concepts in Bridgeman never seem to reveal themselves. Sheppard will be useful the first time you open the book and will certainly clear much of the confusion in figure drawing.』 『An innovative approach to artistic anatomy that, rather than depicting muscles and bones, focuses upon the specifics of surface anatomy. Over l70 of Joseph Sheppardâs drawings show many different live models in front, back and side views, and in various standing, sitting, kneeling, crouching, reclining and twisting poses. Each drawing is accompanied by two diagrams, one for bones, one for muscles, specifically demonstrating how the surface forms were created by the definitive shapes beneath the skin. 177 illustrations. Introduction. Index. 』

(Good Starter Book For Learning About Columbus.) 『Hi!:) This book is nice and informative without being too long and boring. It will most likely appeal to children around 5 or 6 through about 9 or 10. After that, they may want to read another, more in depth biography about this remarkable and fearless sailor and explorer. The illustrations are realistic and well done. I, as a parent, felt that the ending was a bit weak, but children will certainly gain a better understanding and clearer picture of the explorer, and his sacrifices, upon reading this book. Wording is simple and uncomplicated. A step 2 book. Good information, good book!~』 『Youngsters can celebrate the 500th anniversary of Columbus's fateful voyage with this dramatic, easy-to-read account of a pivotal moment in American history. Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Good, easy to put on sports bra.) 『This bra was very simple to put on with the front hasps being easier to reach. It did very well at holding me up (I'm a 36DDD and/or F) which is definately a change. My only qualm would be that it doesn't keep the girls seperated very well. But then again, it doesn't have an underwire so I didn't really expect it to. Because it does not have an udnerwire, however, it does not chafe after several hours of wearing. All in all, I think it is a wonderful product and will likely purchase more of them.』
(Sports Bra) 『Not as comfortable as expected. Seams on the inside are irritating. Band rolls up and won't lay flat.』
(Works well with my racer-back tops for Pilates, but could be improved) 『I'm 46D, and it's a pain to try and find a good racerback sports bra. I've spent hours online ordering what was out there, and this is the one I keep using most because 1. holds my puppies in place when I'm upside down or jumping or whatever and 2. It comes in black, and most of my workout clothes are black, some navy, some purple. I needed a dark bra, this works.
It does come up very high, so it tends to show on V-neck workout tops. But it has a wide band so it feels nice and secure and does what it needs to do.
A little work on the cut of the bra could improve the cut so it's less high up (in some bent-over poses in Pilates, this feels TOO high and intrusive).
But, for a big gal like me and the clothes I wear (dark), this style has been the best.
』
(I like the back closure much better.) 『I bought this bra because I needed a racerback bra to wear with certain tops. I absolutely love this bra in the back closure model. I don't like this bra for 2 reasons. One is the front closure isn't flat, so you can see it poking up from under your top. Second the skin below the armpit made me bulge there. I don't get that bulge with the back closure bra. I guess this one will be in my pile of unworn bras.』 『Glamorise Style 1206B-C. Full coverage, wire-free, soft cups. Smooth, seamless fabric.
