The music is awesome, though it is missing a guitar solo or two. But that's cool. Heavy, fast, double-kick to knock your ear drums out. Reminds me of when I was eighteen (ages ago) and wishing that all of Metallica's songs were like Battery! Only these guys (and one chick) are loads heavier, and their knack for rhythm is greatly appreciated by me (I'm a drummer/guitarist).
The only down-side is that the songs are all in the same key, so it seems repetitive, but the lyrics and hardness make up for it!!!!』
(Pick it up.) 『As I listened to this album at work today several things went through my mind. I wondered why so many people aren't into this band, why they're not huge, and what separates this record from other records (like terror's lowest of the low) that got HUGE but sound almost exactly the same. Honestly if anything, this record is technical hardcore at it's best. Truly. I guess it all boils down to the same old scene bs: kids hate on bands because they can, because the lyrical content doesn't revolve around the dropping of the f bomb between every other word. Or because they are a religious oriented band. I don't know much about this current christian "hate" trend in hardcore, but i do know this: I care about lyrical content. I'm not edge, but I appreciate edge music...and in this same vein...I'm not christian, but I appreciate a positive message.

I could be way off. All I know is when I listen to the new comeback kid record, every time I hear the background vocals (tracks 5,9) I want to listen to this record instead. I'm going out on a limb here to say that anyone who hates on this album and claims to be scene needs to get their priorities checked. The production is excellent. Every track is tight. Though I thorougly enjoyed all previous albums, I feel this is their best work.

A real life court trial is not as dramatic. Erle Stanley Gardner often educated his readers with new technology or medical-legal facts, and warned of swindles. The TV shows were simplified and modified versions from the originals, or new stories. Some may criticize the tactics of Perry Mason but they represent life before the modern legal rules of the 1960s. The prices, automobiles, and monetary figures date these stories. They record the styles and culture of the 1950s. The many character actors who look like ordinary people enrich these stories, their emotions are often read from their facial expressions. [These original stories have themes from Gardner's novels.]
"The Case of the Fancy Figures" begins when a man parks a Thunderbird by the Hyett office building in front of a "Do Not Park" sign. [Symbolism.] Charles Brewster is accused of being the embezzler for which another man ,Martin Ellis, was convicted. "Very interesting." Were others involved? Valery Brewster loves her drinks. (A whole lotta wax) 『This movie is not an exact remake of Mystery Of The Wax Museum (1933) and House Of Wax (1953). It is a movie that has a different but mildly similar story. Whereas the 1933 and 1953 movies took place in a big city, this 2005 movie takes place in a very small and remote town in Louisiana. There ARE some similarities to the 1933 and 1953 flicks, but the similarities are loose at best. I have to wonder why they titled the movie House Of Wax, which is the same title as the 1953 movie. Maybe it was name recognition to get people in the door at the movie theater.
To me, this movie is a cross between The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and the Friday The 13th movies. Right from the beginning of the movie it had The Texas Chainsaw Massacre feel to it, then the Friday The 13th feel kicked in a short time later. Much like these movies (and so many slasher horror movies including Halloween), House Of Wax features a group of teenagers or twenty-somethings who are partying and just trying to have a good time, whether its at a campground, a neighborhood, or wherever. Then somewhere along the way they run into trouble and a killer stalks them. In this movie, six college friends have their car break down in a remote area. They had been on their way to a football game. They discover a small town when they are looking for help. On the way to this small town, two of them catch a ride with a creepy, mentally sick stranger. I have no clue why these people would trust a creepy stranger like the one in this movie, or any stranger. You gotta see him to know what I'm talking about. In town there is a museum called House Of Wax. This building is literally made of wax - the walls, floors, everything. Inside are wax mannequins. To sum up the plot, the kids run into not one but two wax sculpting killers who are brothers. There is lots of blood and gore. The goal of the killers is to make wax sculptures out of the captured kids (much like in the 1933 and 1953 movies). The kids try desperately to escape the museum and the town unscathed. Four of the kids are killed off. The ending is over-the-top and memorable. This movie has lots of good special effects and props.
This movie stars the attractive Elisha Cuthbert, Chad Michael Murray, Brian Van Holt, Paris Hilton, Jared Padalecki, Jon Abrahams, and Robert Ri'Chard. The musical score by John Ottman is pretty good. There are a couple of "current" type of heavy rock songs in this movie that will someday date this movie.
Paris Hilton has a lesser role in this movie compared to some of the other actors. In my opinion, she did a pretty good job acting. I must say I'm surprised to see the overall rating of this movie at 3 1/2 stars after 266 reviews. I thought it would be higher. After reading a lot of the lower rated reviews it is clear that a lot of people dislike Paris Hilton. It goes beyond acting ability, which some people question, while others praise it. I think a lot of it has to do with pure jealousy, unfortunately. She's young, rich, and famous. Again, she doesn't have a huge role in this movie. But she's in this movie, bottom line, and a lot of people don't like that. She probably was put in to sell movie tickets and give the movie a boost. Personally, I forget about who she is and judge her acting ability and the character she played, which I thought passed the test. In real life she comes across as a stereotypical blonde bimbo. People can't see past that. It doesn't help that in this movie she has a striptease scene that really sticks out like a sore thumb compared to what the other actors are doing. It almost felt to me like her striptease scene was put in the movie as a sort of self-promotion. Back in 2005 she was the hottest name out there and a tabloid story every day it seemed (and still pretty much is). I've read lots of reviews where people love the fact and are gleeful that she was killed off in this movie. Some of it could be because they disliked the character she played, but some of it could be just because she's Paris Hilton.
This DVD comes with many extras, including a B-Roll and Bloopers Video Cast Commentary, an on location segment about the design of the House Of Wax, the visual effects, an alternate opening, a gag reel, and the theatrical trailer.
If you want to see a unique and creepy horror movie thriller, then I recommend this movie. This movie is better than I thought it would be. You might agree with me. And keep an open mind when it comes to Paris Hilton.』

This movie was amazing but as much as I love Paris, her death scene was amazingly cool. Yeah it would suck to have a pole thrown through your head but something about it was good. Paris had amazingly good acting, even my step-mom was taken by surprise. I've been a fan of Paris Hilton since day 1 and I own everything she has came out with. My room is decked with Paris Hilton stuff. Overall, the movie was good, kind of gross at parts but you'll enjoy it!!』
(Mixed bag) 『House of Wax certainly had an original idea. Even though there was already a Wax movie (made over 50 years ago) this movie was still very entertaining. I didn't understand why the wax couldn't simply have peeled off Wade's skin instead of taking his skin along with it. Poor guy, he deserved better.
There were a few things about the movie that just didn't work. The scene where Paris Hilton was stripping for her boyfriend went on too long - it was clearly fanservice so boys could ogle her - but she did a decent job trying to fight Vincent off. I found the idea of a literal house of wax to be silly. Over time the floors would sag, the walls would bow, etc. (that's a lot of wax!) And the very ending with the revelation of a third child was just cheesy. I suppose it meant we can look forward to a sequel of this...
Overall a decent horror movie, most of it was good and creepy and I would have given it a higher rating if not for the bad things that I pointed out.』

Better still how to scale you projects, something that even my high-end sculpting books would barely touch with a ten foot pole, she tackles full on and unabashed. Not only will you make to scale figures, but you can also check out how to make them into miniatures as well! Which is tough as most books reserve scaling for foundry work.
She doesn't leave much to the imagination, nor spares any rock unturned to show you how to use it and encourages you to expand on that knowledge! Wow, where can I find a teacher like that?

(An excellent guide to sculpting in general, not just with polymer clay) 『Based on the unanimous 5 star reviews (excluding the 2 reviewers who gave it 1 star for a mistake THEY made), I bought this book. I am happy to report that it lives up to the positive reviews.
Katherine Dewey is an accomplished sculptor and this book is very informative and well worth the $15 purchase price in skills taught. Some of the tips and tricks shown can only come about through expensive trial and error (like selecting the right brand of clay), or years of experience (how to make your own custom tools). They are all collected here and presented in a logical progression, with plenty of large color photographs.
Some of the techniques I already figured out for myself (using aluminum foil balls as cores), but many I'm learning for the first time since I am new to polymer clay sculpting. As a beginner, I found the first few chapters very useful in getting grounded in the basics of polymer clays because it is not like natural clay (safety, brands and uses, clay conditioning). Many of the techniques taught in later chapters can be applied to sculpting and figure making in general, not exclusively to the polymer clay medium, or restricted to purely lifelike figures. My brand of artwork is mostly cartoony and usually not lifelike, but I found much to like in this book.

(Fantastic Sculpting Guide- Highly Recommended) 『Creating Lifelike Figures in Polymer Clay is one of the best how-to sculpting books I've ever read.
Chapter 1 covers the various polymer clays available, how to work with the clay, safety considerations, and includes formulas to blend colors for various ethnic skin tones.
Chapter 2 describes working with basic shapes and Ms Dewey's technique of modelling units, which is to roll out a log shape of clay at a certain thickness and cut off units of equal lengths. A great technique for a beginner to ensure equal amounts of clay are used. Who wants two disproportionate arms or legs simply because you eyeballed how much clay to use?
Chapter 3 covers making your own tools with the clay. If your a novice who has never used polymer clay, this chapter gets you familiar with the feel, texture, and baking methods needed as you sculpt your figures.
Chapters 4-7 cover the modelling of the figure from face, torso, arms, and legs. In the face chapter, Ms Dewey shows you how to model a basic face but doesn't just move on from there; she expounds on it. She shows you how to sculpt the differences of gender. She shows how to sculpt ethnic faces. She shows you how to add expression to your figure with the shift of the clay here or there. She shows you how to add age to your character.
Similarly with the torso chapter, she shows you how to sculpt the male torso and the female variation. She also gives you techniques for sculpting the "heroic" or well-muscled male torso as well as adding realistic "fat" pads for the overweight figure.
Her arms and legs chapter are very detailed and you do get the development of the "heroic" arms and legs if you want to pursue that type of figure.
Chapter 8 details how to sculpt in smaller scales. Most of the book prior concerns 1/6 scale. In chapter 8, she gives formulas for the "base units" that enable you to sculpt in 1/8, 1/10, and 1/12 scale. She also demonstrates techniques for sculpting in these smaller scales.
Chapter 9 shows you how to make costumes in clay, which is truly amazing and almost worth the price of the book alone. Her figures look like they were dressed in fabric instead of clay. So if you can't or don't want to sew for a figure you sculpt, you can dress them in "fabric" as textured, with draping and folds as real as the real thing.
Chapter 10 demonstrates "finishing touches" which is the painting and wigging of your figure.
The instructions are exceptionally detailed and EXTREMELY well photographed. The photos and descriptions are why this book gets a 5-star rating. It's as if the author really cared that you do well with your sculpting and wanted to give you enough photos and description to do it.
The only "negative" I would give this book is that it needs to be spiral bound. I own the original self-published book- and yes, this is a reprint of Ms Dewey's original which has a different cover - but I bought this copy to take apart and put into a binder so I could lay it flat to reference while I sculpt.

It was extremely brutal, senseless, and ruthless violence against Jews and others.
What amazed me wasn't so much her story, but it was her transcendence from victim to an educated, joyful, caring, generous, and still beautiful lady.』
(Brilliant) 『This young-adult book is not the first Holocaust memoir I've read, but it is perhaps the most brilliant. Not an easy read, of course, none of them are. I had to put it down several times and go off and do something else to forestall an overdose of grief and anger.
Especially affecting is the fact that she was but thirteen when her family was shipped to Auschwitz. Only the infamous Dr. Mengele saved her from the gas, telling her to lie that she was sixteen, and only because his racist mind doted on her blond hair and blue-green eyes. He'd apparently never seen a Jew who looked Aryan.
All the pertinent details of the camps are revealed, slowly in dramatic fashion, the recreated scenes and dialogue becoming more historical fiction than a recitation of actual events. Her story of strength and survival in the face of so much cruelty and heartbreak is inspiring. Some of us really can survive almost anything. But, in the end, she was left with much pain to work through:
"My friends, my family, all those achingly dear to me, my entire world, rose up in smoke, vanished."
Her dedication is especially touching: "...to the children in Israel who, unsung and unacclaimed, risk their lives every day just by traveling to school...the only guarantee that a Holocaust will never happen again." 』
(Racial Prejudice is Absurd - Faith Helps in Trying Times) 『 The author, nee, Elli L. Friedmann, was born in Somorja, Czechoslovakia. I was born in Chrzanów, Poland. Elli and I became victims of the German invasion to our respective countries, at the age of thirteen. Both of us have experienced and witnessed atrocities of the Nazis and their collaborators like the Arrowcross in Hungary and the Volksdeutsche in Poland. The many episodes of manifested evil as well as human kindness narrated in "I Have Lived A Thousand Years" are similar to mine. Still, I am moved to tears reading Elli's tribulations. It is indeed a very impressive memoir.
In the book (page 151), Herr Zerkübel, the factory director in Augsburg selected Jewish girls with blond hair and blue eyes for the most intricate duties. He believed that the color of hair, skin, and blue eyes were indicative of superior intellect. This assumption is just racial prejudice at its core. I have met many bright and mediocre blond girls alike with or without blue eyes, from many faiths. I have met many brilliant and less than average African Americans and others from different ethnicities. Racial prejudice is irrational and has no logical basis.
Laura, her tenaciously devout mother's reaction to the German oppressive edicts is compelling. When the Hungarian police handed over her son Bubi to the Germans she said, "Hungarian, Germans - what is the difference. God is with us; He is with us everywhere." When the Germans cut off her daughter's beautiful braids, the mother said "It's nothing; hair can grow, with God's help." When the Jews were forced to wear the yellow star the mother said, "What is a yellow star on a jacket? It does not kill or condemn. It does not harm. It only says you are a Jew. That is nothing to be ashamed of... Aren't you proud of being a Jew?"
The author spent her school years in concentration camps rather than in classes, but the book proves her to be a highly educated person and an excellent writer. "I Have Lived A Thousand Years" is a short book, but very descriptive and extremely gripping. It is a personal and gut-wrenching story. It should be read by young and old alike.
The book reinforces how faith can help us in arduous times and in it, there is a lesson for all of us to learn. We must learn to recognize hatred and it must be stopped. As a Holocaust victim I can attest that every Jew was a victim, but not every victim was a Jew. I am at liberty to state that prejudice is absurd. Voltaire also warned us when he said, "...those who make you believe in absurdities can make you commit atrocities." Failures to stop prejudice have lead to the Holocaust and other instances of genocide. If left unconstrained in the future, it will continue to lead to unfathomable events. And one day these events may profoundly affect our self and our children.

(Great reference book!) 『I have been studying pre-algebra (hoping to move to on to algebra soon) in order to prepare myself for an assessment test. When I saw this book while researching what books to buy so I could study and get myself up to date after many years away from school, I thought it would probably come in handy.
I had been over 1/2 way through my other book when I got stuck on a word problem. Because it was an end of the chapter quiz, I had the correct answer, but not the detailed explanation of how they got to the answer. I was already getting frustrated when I saw this book sitting on the bedside table.
I pulled the book and opened it for the first time, hoping I would be able to find what I was looking for without having to read through the chapters looking for it. What a pleasant surprise! The book has an index showing types of problems and where to find them. The problem I was having issues with was about calculating "age" so I went straight to the age section, hoping they would have a problem that was similar enough to the one I was stuck with so I could figure out what I had to do. There it was, among the 5 or 6 problems, there was one similar enough that I was able to figure mine out. I was very, very happy!
To be honest, that has been my only experience with the book so far, but in my opinion it was an experience worthy of writing this review.

I must say that this is one of the worst toys I've ever had the pleasure to take out of the box..., although there was no pleasure in untying 20+ plastic parts just to get them out of the package.
Once assembled, it takes very little effort to break it apart under normal play. There is a tub of clay included in case you want to mold your own version of Vilgax, since he is NOT included with his own battle ship. Do not fear however..., there is a clear plastic Ben 10 action figure with a skate board that will hold your child's attention for all of 10 seconds!

(Michelle Kwan) 『I am a big fan of figure skating. Michelle Kwan on Ice is a package where you can make interesting routines. To make sure your jumps land you have to have good coordination with the mouse. If your hands cramp up or you get nervous; you have to work at it. I had no luck making an original face(it looked like a space alien). I was almost stuck with the original but was able, somehow, to get the default copy of Michelle Kwan(phew!!). This reviewer is not a computer maven or a motor moron. What makes the package more difficult than it has to be is that there is no hard copy manual. There is a downloadable manual using Adobe Acrobat that comes with this software. Make sure you have the required hardware. The hard copy manual is available for $5. Right now, I don't know the limits of the music selection. If creating a skater becomes easier and music can be added it could be a more enjoyable game for myself. If it is just a matter of clicking your mouse at the right time...

The sizes run small on this. You might want to get a size or two larger. So much better then the rental skates -- the blade is sharp and not all dinged up. The boots probably aren't as comfortable as more expensive boots, but my daughter hasn't complained and the skates have dramatically improved her skating.
I also bought the mens skate that is basically the same model and just paid for shipping one time as sold by skatebuys through amazon with one checkout. The sizes also run small on this -- I wear a 9.5 to 10 shoe and bought a size 11 skate which fits just right. I haven't skated on sharp blades for over 20 years -- it's great(I didn't pay for the extra sharpenning and they are plenty sharp). The boots could be a bit more comfortable especially the upper tong -- but as they break in they are getting more comfortable.
