Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review
(from an optimistic 11yr old point of view)
『So, I am writing this as a parent, with my son's point of view. He was disappointed to see such poor reviews on this toy. We purchased in intentionally without prior reading of reviews. He wanted to give this toy a '4' but I felt there is some merit to the break-apart issue. He acknowledges that the toy is fragile but it is a small toy which totally resembles the character from the movie. He believes that the "whole snaps-apart/ pops/back- together" is all part of playing with Transformers and you should learn to accept it as part of playing with such a intricate toy. He has been an avid, crazy avid collector of Transformer toys since he was three; so I value his working/ playing opinion in these matters. Aloha&Enjoy your toys!!』

(Do Not Buy)
『Just like the other people said - this toy literally falls apart as soon as you open the package and it will not stay together. The legs do not snap in securely and will not stay in at all. We are returning ours. This is the only Transformer we have had a problem with - we have a lot of them and the rest of them are all great.』

(Falls Apart...Terrible Toy...Should Not Be Sold)
『I rarely give a bad review. But this toy is terrible.

The parts literally just fall apart with the slightest movement. In robot mode, it can not even stand up on its own weight. This is literally one of the worst toys I have ever seen. You literally can not play with this toy at all. It just falls apart.

Hasbro, shame on you!!!』

(Dont buy this product!)
『Purchased this at Walmart, opened the package which was not damaged, and the toy literally fell to pieces. The parts snap in, and fall right out they are not a snug fit. The parts get lost easily and trying to transform it without loosing or breaking pieces is impossible.

If this product was bigger in size I can see it being more durable and the pieces working better, but otherwise would not suggest buying this.』

『SCALPEL has a massive database of anatomical data for millions of creatures across the universe. He can disassemble anything that doesn't struggle too much in a matter of minutes, and usually puts it back together with only a few parts in the wrong place. He serves as medic to the DECEPTICON army, but most DECEPTICONS prefer to suffer in silence rather than allow SCALPEL to work on them. Add this DECEPTICON defender to your collection! Convert from robot mode to microscope mode and get a close-up look at the AUTOBOT enemy! Recreate exciting movie scenes -- or stage new battles of your own -- right there in your living room!』

『I have the 34DD. it needs 3 hooks in back like the 36DD has. It's so stupid that it has only 2 hooks! I had the 36DD but recently found out my bra size is really 34DD, so I ordered it in 34DD and SURPRISE! It has only 2 hooks. It's a great bra, great shape, great support, but not with 2 hooks. With 3!』

(Really fun toy!)
『This was a gift for my great nephew, who is 8 years old, for Christmas. He immediately put the mask on and started playing with the sword! Flashing lights, great sound effects, he was having the time of his life! I'm glad I got this for him. Thanks!

(GREAT TOY FOR A GREAT PRICE)
『I bought this for my 4 year old son for Christmas - Not only is it cheaper on here than stores, the delivery was standard and was EXTREMELY FAST, MY SON LOVES IT!!! All my kids and their friends play w/ it and they LOVE IT!!!!』

(Now This Is Cool!)
『Looks can be deceiving. This looks like a cheap sword and mask halloween set. However, it is actually pretty good. The mask looks realistic and fits fairly well. I really enjoyed the sword though. There have been similar sword toys that do similar things, but this one executes well.

When the sword is swung from side to side, it makes cool "sword-like" sounds. The sounds are of a sword fight, and they are activated with each swing. The sounds vary, so it does sound realistic. My son is having a BLAST with this toy, and enjoys showing us his swordsman "prowess".

There is a special button that sounds like the user is being "charged up". Then when released, along with alot of fast swinging, it sounds like you are executing some sort of Killer Sword combo that often leaves the user in a ninja like pose when it ends.

It was a little pricey, but for the fun it brings my son, it was well worth it.』

(Perfect Chritmas present)
『This is a Christmas present, so my 4 year old son has not opened yet. But everytime we go into the store, he looks for it and makes me promise that if Santa doesn't get it for him, that I must. This is one item in his list that has not changed. I am looking forward to Chritmas morning to see him happy.
It look durable, it has light and sound. Small accesories are not sutible for small children (as mine). But I will let him play with the sword and mask and hide the rest until he is older or for when he is playing under supervision.』

(Hours of fun)
『I gave this toy to my five year old grandson and he played with it for hours. The sounds the sword makes are realistic and fun. His one year old sister was also attracted to it and loved to put on the accompanying hood. Seems to be well made.』
『Become the legendary SNAKE EYES. The powerful ninja trained by the mysterious ARASHIKAGEâ¢* Clan⦠Master of the Katana sword⦠And member of the elite G.I. JOE team.

Now, you can really get in on the action with this exciting playset! Put on your SNAKE EYES character mask and feel what itâs like to be the G.I. JOE hero! Then grab your sword and ninja star accessories to take on enemy forces! Press a button on the sword for lights and weapon sounds, swing the blade for electronic sword sounds and then launch a surprise attack with the hidden âmissile launcherâ and its two missileaccessories. The enemyâs getting stronger, but now with you in on the action, the G.I. JOE team canât lose!』

(My favorite book)
『Force: Dynamic Life Drawing is a good book for artist who are interested in conveying strong poses. I've seen and read other books that will go over strong poses, this book happens TO BE ONE of them. This book helped me a lot when I do figure drawings or 2D animation. If you're familiar with the "S" or "C" curve gesture drawing, he will go into details of it metaphorically. One metaphor that I loved was the mountain skiing and how it represented rhythms. Mattesi will discuss perspectives, overlaps, straight vs curves, sculpting forms, animals and more. The drawing examples in the drawing is very stylized which I like and you can tell by looking at the front cover. I love reading the introduction because it's motivating.』

(Extremely helpful!)
『I just finished taking a life drawing for animation class. It was a great class, but in the beginning, I was really frustrated to tears. Drawing motion isn't something that can be taught easily. It's a really abstract concept that takes a lot of thinking and planning on the part of the student. I was at wit's end when I found this book. Boy, did it help! Mattesi takes an abstract concept and turns it into something not only I could understand, but immediately apply to my work. Within the week of purchasing, I could all ready see results in my drawings.

100% worth the money!』

(Great book to study rhythm and gesture.)
『If you have been wanting to improve the rhythm and gesture of your sketches and drawings, this is an important book to add to your library. I traced most of the sketches in this book, and felt an immediate improvement in my intuitive use of gesture and rhythm. It is very dynamic indeed, and books like this are hard to come by.』

(A must have for any artist.)
『In my drawing classes, I've always wondered why my drawings looked so boring and lifeless. I knew they were missing some sort of boost, but I couldn't figure out why. After I've read through this book, I can honestly say drawing figures has been so much easier. The book clearly explains the fundamentals of what gives any pose and powerful feel of flow, even for simple standing poses. Reread the concepts if you need to, and study what's going on in the sketches. Once you master applying his lessons, your characters will have much more life even in the sketch's earliest stages. Don't just look at the images in this book. Analyze and study its construction. It will pay off.』

(Useful for animators and life drawing)
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R2P6YUFG1T6SNZHere's a very useful book not just for animators, but for anyone who do character drawings. It's called Force: Dynamic Life Drawing for Animators, authored by Michael D. Mattesi.

First of all, this is a book for intermediate and advanced artists. Foundational knowledge of anatomy is required to fully appreciate and follow along with the lessons.

This book is about creating realistic poses for life drawing. Examples show how forces inside the body and outside (gravity or objects) act on the human figure, and how the body reacts to the force.

There are lots of tips and illustrated examples on strong and memorable poses, such as the using of structure and form, overlaps, foreshortening, silhouettes etc. The explanations are clear and simple, even very sketchy illustrated examples bring the point across with very few lines.

While many instructional drawing books teaches how to draw, this book teaches how to think before drawing. Whenever I draw, I always remind myself of the tips to help prevent my characters from being too static.

Additionally, there are also chapters on handling clothing, drawing on location and drawing animals.

There are more pictures of the book on my blog. Just visit my Amazon profile for the link.』

(Poor editing)
『Paradise is certainly one of the greatest achievements of English literature. And as an editor, Tesky seems to disregard this fact. First of all, he omits critical punctuation from the poem, which can seriously alter your understanding of what is going on:

"[God} made the stars/ And set them in the firmament of heav'n/ T'illuminate the earth and rule the day/ In their vicissitude and rule the night/ And light from darkness to divide." (VII. 348-52)

This is clumsy editing, and cross referencing other editions will show that the comma between "the night" and "and light" is retained; without it, the sentence makes little sense.

This is only one example of the gross injustices done to Milton's poem: parentheses where parentheses do not belong, misspellings, unnecessary footnotes (literally half of the footnotes you will find merely tell you that two words are elided), and omissions of information that could be helpful. It seems as if Tesky delights in telling you things you either already know or can infer from the context. Tesky's modernization of Paradise Lost is awkward and ill-managed, insulting to the unfamiliar student, and to the memory of Milton.

Tesky does, however, include a glossary of biblical and mythological terms which may be unfamiliar to many (but which were much more recognizable to Milton's contemporaries), and this is hardly found in many editions of Paradise Lost. Tesky also gives critical articles on subjects as diverse as the character of Satan, gender distinctions, and even the agency of the angel Abdiel. While there is alot to learn from this edition, scarcely any of it comes from Tesky himself; he ends up doing more damage than good. In my opinion, stay away from this edition.』

(With a name like Milton it has got to be good.)
『This is perhaps the highest achievement of the English language, so despite an editor's best efforts, it is extremely hard to improve upon. Because Milton was essentially a self contained encyclopedia, the footnotes (which are detailed but not verbose) are very helpful in explaining some of the more obscure references included in the text. My only gripes are that in certain areas (as the editor wholly admits) the syntax has been changed, slightly altering the mood and at times the message I believe Milton had in mind. Also, the in-depth information regarding the names of characters and places that was included as footnotes in the second edition has been moved to a glossary in the third edition, making reference a little more difficult. All together an excellent text however, and one that makes enjoying Milton's genius that much easier.』

(New edition (by Teskey) omits material found in older edition (by Elledge))
『I am not a Milton scholar and my comments need to be understood in that light.

Having read the previous Norton Critical Edition (edited by Scott Elledge, (C) 1993; Paradise Lost (Norton Critical Editions)) several years ago, I was looking forward to reading this new one (edited by Gordon Teskey). The new edition is printed on heavier paper, which is nicer to read and less prone to bleed through when I write on it. But to maintain the same size and heft, the newer edition is about 100 pages shorter (587 vs 685). Almost all the critical essays are carried over from one edition to the next. But omitted material includes:

A number of Milton's other writings, including 7 sonnets and excerpts from a number of his essays.

An essay about the religious and political issues at the time of Milton

A brief biography of Milton

Explanations of Milton's conceptions about the universe, Physiology and Psychology, Reason, the Scale of Nature, Angels, God, Freedom, etc.

A more complete set of relevant readings from the Bible (the new one omits the readings from Matthew, Luke, John, Timothy, and James).

I found these materials enormously helpful in understanding Milton and Norton's decision to delete them makes the new edition much less useful. I would have preferred, personally, that they delete some of the critical essays about PL, rather than the explanatory materials to help readers get through the book in the first place.

Finally, Teskey's notes are not nearly as helpful. About half of them discuss how the syllables of Milton's words should be counted. Here's a comparison of the notes to book one, lines 43-46, in each edition. From Teskey, page 5:

44: Pow'r: power, pronounced with one syllable: 'paar.'
45: ethereal: has three syllables: 'eth-ear-yal.'
46: hideous has two syllables: 'hid-jus.'

and so forth. Some of his notes explain odd words, ideas, or allusions to biblical or classical texts. I am certain that his emphasis on explaining Milton's syllabification is important to some readers, but it matters little to me.

By comparison, Elledge's notes almost never discuss syllabification. They are full of information explaining the text. From the same set of lines (p. 9):

43: Impious. The L word means disrespectful of one's parents or one's country as well as of one's god.
44: ethereal: (Gk aithein to ignite, blaze) of the ether, the element supposed to fill the outer regions of the universe; not earth, fire or water, it was not earthly but heavenly, and eternal.
46: This image of a meteorite is more distinct in the description of Satan's fall at 745 ("like a falling star"). hideous: causing dread or horror. ruin (L ruere to fall violently) ruins, rubble; fall destruction. combustion. Cf Combustible. line 233.

Elledge's notes are fuller, richer, and far more helpful to me. Knowing what "etheral" means and how it fits into Milton's cosmology is far more interesting and helpful than knowing that he pronounced it with three syllables.

In short, I would encourage folks to look for a copy of Elledge's version of this Norton's Critical edition. I found it far more helpful than Teskey.

Perhaps when Norton issues a second edition of Tewsky's work, they will restore some of the missing material; until they do, I will continue to use Elledge.』

(A cosmic battle)
『I used the Norton critical edition edited by Scott Elledge

We will discover in these pages a profound rendering of the cosmic battle between good and evil, man's fall through disobedience to God, and Satan's perversion on mankind.

Each line serves a purpose, so in order to inhale this sublime poem to its fullest it will be necessary to slow down. Immensely valuable to understanding this difficult poem is the editor's explanatory summery going into each of the twelve books (chapters) and the numerous footnotes.

The second half of the book contains a biography, an historical evolution, other writings, and a critical analysis of Milton by multiple revered authors with a wide degree of beliefs.

Wish you well
Scott』

(Worse than the old Norton--no longer the edition of choice)
『People I admire have told me they consider Teskey a brilliant scholar, but what he has done with this Norton Critical Edition is a real disappointment. In short, the annotations, the ancillary texts, and the critical readings are all less helpful than the old Norton edition (edited by Scott Elledge). Elledge sometimes could be a bit pedantic, giving too many Latin etymologies and such. But Teskey has simply abandoned the original audience (first-time readers of Paradise Lost). He doesn't gloss such difficulties as "ravin," "all I," and the odd etymological use of "pontifical." He omits such indispensable ancillae as Elledge's 33-page selection from Milton's "On Christian Doctrine" (and also Doctrine&Discipline of Divorce, and much else). He takes the best critical readings (Lewalski, Fish) and cuts them down to excerpts too tiny to matter much.

That really concludes my argument against choosing Teskey. He also commits howlers in Latin, Greek ("Greek leukos also means joyful"), and English ("tradition" in X.578 construed as a verb; faulty modernizations like "condemn" for "contemn" in IX.306 and "shown" for "shone" in X.1096).

For a Norton Critical Edition (i.e., the extra primary and secondary texts), choose Elledge; its advantages in learning and help far outweigh any of its defects. Perhaps, though, the most helpful Paradise Lost edition for the target audience (first-time reader, well-annotated) is now David Scott Kastan's generous reworking of Merritt Hughes' edition.』

『This Norton Critical Edition is designed to makeParadise Lostaccessible for student readers, providing invaluable contextual and biographical information and the tools students need to think critically about this landmark epic. Gordon Teskey's freshly edited text of Milton's masterpiece is accompanied by a new introduction and substantial explanatory annotations. Spelling and punctuation have been modernized, the latter, importantly, within the limits imposed by Milton's syntax.

"Sources and Backgrounds" collects relevant passages from the Bible and Milton's prose writings, including selections fromThe Reason of Church Governmentand the full text ofAreopagitica.

"Criticism" brings together classic interpretations by Andrew Marvell, John Dryden, Victor Hugo, and T. S. Eliot, among others, and the most important recent criticism and scholarship surrounding the epic, including essays by Northrop Frye, Barbara Lewalski, Christopher Ricks, and Helen Vendler.

A Glossary and Selected Bibliography are also included.

(American Girl Rebecca Mini Doll)
『I just love buying these dolls on Amazon. They are
such a great buy! I have been collecting them and buying them as gifts for all the little girls in my family and my mom.
They are well made and great smaller versions of the
bigger American Girl dolls! I love that they include a book w/them!』

(My daughter received it for Christmas)
『In general, manufacturers are focused on selling their merchandise, including dolls, or beer, or cigarettes, or whatever else. So one needs to be wary of what the products might do to society as a whole. My daughter explains to me that the American Girl (AG) dolls have interesting social histories and lessons as background. My problems with such products are manifold. First, if these dolls have social lessons for young girls to learn, then they should be egalitarian and affordable for poor little girls as much as rich little girls. This, these dolls are not. Second, certain "collectible" items become inherently prone to addictive behavior, which is of course a very welcome development for the manufacturer. Recall how cigarettes have been spiked in terms of nicotine and other forms of addictive potency, in order to get a consumer "hooked." I do notice the very same tendencies with these dolls. Third (and last for this discussion), I believe young girls (and boys) must be encouraged to open their hearts and minds to the world, its beauty and its many inequities, and attempt to find happiness with simplicity, contentment, creativity, and the spirit of sharing. To me, having an expensive doll collection (or even less, an expensive car collection, or other things of that nature) does not fit that definition.

The Rebecca mini AG doll, however, is relatively inexpensive, and in that sense, a more equitable offering to young girls who have not yet moved on to tackling the great issues of life.

(Cute little doll)
『The minute my nieces saw the little dolls, they just hugged them and started to play.』

(A Great Idea!)
『My daughter has begun to collect the mini American Girl dolls. She has enjoyed them very much. You not only recieve a miniture version of the original doll, but you also recieve with it a hard cover copy of the first book in that doll's series. We purchased two in this transaction - one for my daughter and one for her friend. Her friend's mother called and said that her daughter was so excited. Previously she had purchased the original size doll, for each book series, when her daughter completed reading the series of books for that doll. With the present economy and their families financial situation though, they are no longer able to do this. Her daugher was so excited when she recieved Rebecca and told her mother that now she can collect the mini dolls and still continue her American Girl doll collection! Amazon offers a great deal on the dolls. In my opinion it's the way to go!』

(American Girl Mini Dolls)
『This was a good way to get this product. I just wish it had come with the first book of the series or something, like it is often packaged for other vendors. But it came quickly.』
『This 6 1/2 inch doll brings Rebecca's world to life on a smaller scale. She arrives dressed in an outfit authentic to her era. She comes with Meet Rebecca, a miniature 3 inch version of the first book in her series. Mini book is enclosed in plastic holder under the cover.』

(A lot of pre-programmed actions)
『plenty of fun actions, and a lot of them require good deal of balance. A very nice toy to own at the current price tag. It would be better if it has the teach mode which allow you to put the joints in any angle you like.』

(A Fun Toy for All Ages but Too Fragile and Expensive)
『Got this toy for my son's 10th year birthday. It was his greatest excitment for almost 2 weeks and he played with it constantly - trying to figure out different ways of controlling it.

Well, his little 4 year old cousin came and got his hand on it - dropped it and the parts misaligned. It took us a while for us adults reading the instructions and re-calibrate it but never was the "same" again. As result, he stopped playing it and now it is in the box gathering dust in the toy grave yard.

A nice, fun, and technically advanced toy but definitely not durable. Not sure it is really worth the money.』

(Fun, cool, and entertaining)
『Tomy I-SOBOT Robot is a hoot to have around on a rainy day. It can get a little boring after a while (few months of playing with it), but there are a lot of things to get involved with the programming aspect of it.

Easy to use, but you have to punch out all the codes (commands like A-A-BB-BB-AB) for special moves. The manual isn't as easy to read cause of it's compact size, so it makes it hard to look up the codes all the time. Overall good toy, and I would get another one for a friend.

(I-Sobot's Review)
『I got I-Sobot for my 9th birthday. I think I-Sobot entertains me well with his music, movie scenes, dances, karate, and imitations of animals. But I was disappointed by I-Sobot's walking and spotlight. Walking was a little more on the good side than the bad. Sometimes he walks and sometimes not. The charger oftentimes turns off randomly. I think I-Sobot was well built and passed most of my expectations. I-Sobot was easy for me to learn and also fun. I-Sobot is definitely one of my favorite toys.』

(Amazing toy robot, but not quite a toy or a robot)
『The "wow factor" of the iSobot is formidable. The first time you see this little guy moving around with his elaborate mechanical fluency, it knocks your socks off. "Wow!" you think. "It's a real robot!"

But, it's not. Yes, it's range of motion and articulation are stunning (but for a robot that can stand perfectly on one leg, its walking is kind of underwhelming). Though, mostly iSobot just runs through a lot of pre-programmed schtick that gets a little tired after a while. When you actually try to do things with it in Program Mode, you quickly discover its limitations. iSobot can really only do what it's been built to do and adult robot hobbyists are likely to exhaust that pretty quick. And, while it is fairly durable, it's far too sensitive and expensive to let little kids play with it like a regular toy.

So what is iSobot? An amazing demonstration of what is possible in bipedal robotic design. As such, it is impressive and fascinating -- but it's not something you can tinker with to explore the frontiers of home robotics or let your kids bang around. iSobot is curiosity. A high-tech knick-knack. A really, really awesome one to be sure -- but just understand that when you buy this, you're buying a piece of history rather than something imported from the future.

If you're an early adopter-type drawn to techno-toys that are way ahead of their time which seem quaint in retrospect, you must have iSobot in your collection. Otherwise, the "wow factor" might wear off in a few weeks leaving you with "buyer's remorse."

- mattmchugh.com』

『He might be pocket-sized, but this miniature high-tech humanoid robot packs a huge punch. i-SOBOT is a 6.5-inch biped bot that's fully articulated, features voice command recognition and can speak a vocabulary of over 200 words and phrases. What's more, he can dance, perform his own special karate moves complete with self sound effects, and can motor forwards, backward, side-to-side or diagonally. He'll even lay down when he's had enough - and get back up again when it's time to go.

i-SOBOT is powered by 17 customs developed servo-motors and 19 integrated circuit chips. He features a built-in gyro sensor and comes fully assembled, ready for action. He can be controlled in a variety of ways: by pre-programmed actions, user programmed actions (done easily with the LCD remote control), or by real-time remote control or voice commands. Robot requires 3 "AAA" rechargeable batteries; remote requires 4 "AAA" batteries, all included. Measures 6.5" tall.』
There's no shortage of fun with the amazing i-SOBOT, the World's Smallest Robot. Packed with over 200 words and phrases, and more than 200 pre-programmed movements, this robot can do everything from saying goodbye to dancing the hula. Recommended for kids aged 10 and up, the i-SOBOT is ready to rock 'n' roll right out of the box.

(PICKLE ORNAMENT)
『We started a new tradition. Whoever finds the pickle on the tree receives another present. It was real hard to see the ornament on the tree with its lights on, but that added to the fun. The pickle is as pictured , so it blends into the foliage( needles) of the tree. PURCHASED AT AMAZON.』

(Pickle ornament)
『This ornament was exactly what I was looking for. It was a gift and the recipient was very pleased. It came well packaged and in a timely fashion. It is a small size but that is what I wanted. I just wish it came in a box or container that I could store it in from year to year.』
『As the timeless legend says, a pickle, a symbol of good luck, is to be the last ornament placed on your decorated Christmas tree. On Christmas morning, the first child to find the pickle receives an extra gift from Santa. This teaches children to appreciate all the beauty and tradition of the Christmas tree, rather than rushing to see what Santa has left! Be the first to start this tradition in your family. (Excellent album !)
『Simply, excellent album. The music of Ketelbey is inspiring, calm and takes us to special and misterious places. Don't miss this CD.』

(An excellent piece of work. Go buy it NOW!!!!!)
『I was introduced to Ketelbey's work by the late Guillermo Figueroa of the famous Figueroa Family group from Puerto Rico. In the few couple of years I worked assisting him, then the conductor for a Youth Chamber Music Orchestra, Don Guillermo helped me rediscover good classical and contemporary music, and introduced me to some great works like the one in review. The recordings are old school but the music is haunting, timeless and beautiful. I highly recommend this cd, and like Don Guillermo told me about 10 years ago: "Give it a chance, you don't have to be a great musician to appreciate great music"
How right was He!』

(I listened to Ketelbey's music as a child)
『These songs are emblazoned on my soul ever since my mother (now 82) played them for my sister and I. Each every cut (on her 33rpm album now unplayable for years of listening) left mystical moments and cherished memories for us all. Would love to be able to purchase 2 more copies if the label re-released"In a Persian Market, etc./Faris, London Proms". Anyone looking for a treasury of magical soul-lifting music should be sure to purchase this classic.』

(Practically purrrrrrrfect in every way....)
『I recently purchased this video because the one I once owned from these games,(taped from tv), was taken to the dump, by mistake, but not by me!!! I hasten to add. I live in the UK and it is impossible to buy these videos here, the only ones we can generally get are the Torvill&Dean tapes....I was delighted to be able to purchase this through Amazon and I bought it primarily for the Tara Lipinsky programme(unforgettable!)....A couple of previous reviewers noted their irritation at the Scott Hamilton commentary, but for me it was the opposite, I found it enhanced my viewing of the tape, I like to hear the commentators getting caught up in the moment and expressing their joy or otherwise at the programmes. I thought this tape was excellent, very enjoyable from beginning to end, with plenty of highlights, and although we get a limited number of full programmes the main one was there for me, and the very reasonable price I paid for the tape and shipment to the UK was well worth Tara's programme alone..I love figure skating and I have many competition tapes which I have taped from tv...unfortunately, it is a minority sport here and not held in the same high regard that it is in the USA and Canada....so I say for anyone thinking of purchasing it, go ahead, I found it great value for money.』

(would be better if scott would have kept quiet)
『i taped eevrything during the actual olympics, but i like to purchase videos like this because sometimes they cut the commentary out which is what i would have enjoyed on this tape. scott hamilton although he may be a great skater is so annoying in this video that everytime he screached over a clean jump by tara, it made me angry. what i didnt like was that scott contradicted hismelf several times in this video and it was obvious he had favorites. if you are a fan of michelle&tara and missed their programs this tape provides what u r looking for :)』

(Perfect for me...)
『I thought this video was a great taste of the Olympics. It had MK's and TL's both short and long programs and Illia Kuliks, Todd eldgredge(cut the middle out), Elvis Stoyko(cut the middle out), and Phillep Candeloro. The only thing i didnt like, was that Scott H. hosted and commented and i thought that it was the MOST annoying commenting i've ever heard. Overall, this was a great video, and i reccomend you buy it!』

(Great Highlights of the Nagano's Competition!)
『The movie gives you a good flavour of the 1998 Olympics best routines. However, it is much focused on the ladies competition, leaving, for example, the pair's short programs completely aside and some 2nd and 3rd places routines with plenty of cuts. I also wish I could have seen Bonaly's complete routine and not only her fist ever done back flip on ice. Anyway, it seems to be the best offer for those who like keeping the best olympic rountine for some time.』

("Extremely Scary!)
『"House of Wax" is based loosely on the 1953 horror film of the same name starring Vincent Price. While driving a group of college friends break down in an old deserted town. They eventually come across a house, which is actually a house made out of wax, and unknown to them killers live there. The plot sounds insane, but the movie is actually quite enjoyable, especially if you like films that depict young people being chased by crazed killers. The special effects are intelligent and the performances are strong, headed by "One Tree Hill" hunk Chad Michael Murray. The movie is also known for the screen debut of Paris Hilton, who unlike what the critics say, is actually a good actress. Afilm clip of Bette Davis from "What Ever Happened To Baby Jane?" is used in the film when the characters come across an old run down theatre. The movie grossed over $68 million at the boxoffice and made another $42 million on DVD so the film was a commercial success. The DVD comes with behind-the-scenes featurettes on the making of the movie, the trailer is included, and an alternate opening comes with the set. "The Long Island Press" says of "The House of Wax" that, it's a "hot, sexy, deliciously creepy horror film".』

(Halfway decent film)
『I have to admit, this movie is really not that scary. There are a couple predictable moments when you find yourself jumping against your better judgement, but beyond that, it's just good makeup. However, House of Wax seems to be unintentionally entertaining. The acting is amusing because it is just THAT BAD, and Paris Hilton's death scene is classic. The sets were pretty well done, and, even though you could see the end scene coming from a mile away, I still thought it was a thrilling conclusion. Overall, I think this film completely missed the mark for horror and drama, but I still found myself enthralled and wanting to watch the rest, which is why I'm giving it three stars. If you're looking for a quality film, which it sounds like some of the negative reviewers were, you won't find it here, but, if you just want a entrtaining movie and have nothing else to do, this is your kind of film.』

(A whole lotta wax)
『This movie is not an exact remake of Mystery Of The Wax Museum (1933) and House Of Wax (1953). It is a movie that has a different but mildly similar story. Whereas the 1933 and 1953 movies took place in a big city, this 2005 movie takes place in a very small and remote town in Louisiana. There ARE some similarities to the 1933 and 1953 flicks, but the similarities are loose at best. I have to wonder why they titled the movie House Of Wax, which is the same title as the 1953 movie. Maybe it was name recognition to get people in the door at the movie theater.

To me, this movie is a cross between The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and the Friday The 13th movies. Right from the beginning of the movie it had The Texas Chainsaw Massacre feel to it, then the Friday The 13th feel kicked in a short time later. Much like these movies (and so many slasher horror movies including Halloween), House Of Wax features a group of teenagers or twenty-somethings who are partying and just trying to have a good time, whether its at a campground, a neighborhood, or wherever. Then somewhere along the way they run into trouble and a killer stalks them. In this movie, six college friends have their car break down in a remote area. They had been on their way to a football game. They discover a small town when they are looking for help. On the way to this small town, two of them catch a ride with a creepy, mentally sick stranger. I have no clue why these people would trust a creepy stranger like the one in this movie, or any stranger. You gotta see him to know what I'm talking about. In town there is a museum called House Of Wax. This building is literally made of wax - the walls, floors, everything. Inside are wax mannequins. To sum up the plot, the kids run into not one but two wax sculpting killers who are brothers. There is lots of blood and gore. The goal of the killers is to make wax sculptures out of the captured kids (much like in the 1933 and 1953 movies). The kids try desperately to escape the museum and the town unscathed. Four of the kids are killed off. The ending is over-the-top and memorable. This movie has lots of good special effects and props.

This movie stars the attractive Elisha Cuthbert, Chad Michael Murray, Brian Van Holt, Paris Hilton, Jared Padalecki, Jon Abrahams, and Robert Ri'Chard. The musical score by John Ottman is pretty good. There are a couple of "current" type of heavy rock songs in this movie that will someday date this movie.

Paris Hilton has a lesser role in this movie compared to some of the other actors. In my opinion, she did a pretty good job acting. I must say I'm surprised to see the overall rating of this movie at 3 1/2 stars after 266 reviews. I thought it would be higher. After reading a lot of the lower rated reviews it is clear that a lot of people dislike Paris Hilton. It goes beyond acting ability, which some people question, while others praise it. I think a lot of it has to do with pure jealousy, unfortunately. She's young, rich, and famous. Again, she doesn't have a huge role in this movie. But she's in this movie, bottom line, and a lot of people don't like that. She probably was put in to sell movie tickets and give the movie a boost. Personally, I forget about who she is and judge her acting ability and the character she played, which I thought passed the test. In real life she comes across as a stereotypical blonde bimbo. People can't see past that. It doesn't help that in this movie she has a striptease scene that really sticks out like a sore thumb compared to what the other actors are doing. It almost felt to me like her striptease scene was put in the movie as a sort of self-promotion. Back in 2005 she was the hottest name out there and a tabloid story every day it seemed (and still pretty much is). I've read lots of reviews where people love the fact and are gleeful that she was killed off in this movie. Some of it could be because they disliked the character she played, but some of it could be just because she's Paris Hilton.

This DVD comes with many extras, including a B-Roll and Bloopers Video Cast Commentary, an on location segment about the design of the House Of Wax, the visual effects, an alternate opening, a gag reel, and the theatrical trailer.

If you want to see a unique and creepy horror movie thriller, then I recommend this movie. This movie is better than I thought it would be. You might agree with me. And keep an open mind when it comes to Paris Hilton.』

(Mixed bag)
『House of Wax certainly had an original idea. Even though there was already a Wax movie (made over 50 years ago) this movie was still very entertaining. It had enough gore and twistedness to make it interesting. Even though I like horror movies, some parts of this movie were hard for me to look at (a good mark of a horror movie)

I didn't understand why the wax couldn't simply have peeled off Wade's skin instead of taking his skin along with it. Poor guy, he deserved better.

There were a few things about the movie that just didn't work. The scene where Paris Hilton was stripping for her boyfriend went on too long - it was clearly fanservice so boys could ogle her - but she did a decent job trying to fight Vincent off. I found the idea of a literal house of wax to be silly. Over time the floors would sag, the walls would bow, etc. (that's a lot of wax!) And the very ending with the revelation of a third child was just cheesy. I suppose it meant we can look forward to a sequel of this...

Overall a decent horror movie, most of it was good and creepy and I would have given it a higher rating if not for the bad things that I pointed out.』

(house of wax)
『very good movie great cast good special effects and you get to see paris hilton impailed through the eye socket most definatly worth your money』
『You know the one about the group of horny kids who get offed one by one? Yeah, so do director Jaume Collet-Serra and his screenwriters, who have updated an old Vincent Price flick and sandwiched it between hearty slices ofThe Blair Witch Projectand variousFriday the 13thfilms. Lots of WB and Fox network hotties--including24's Elisha Cuthbert,One Tree Hill's Chad Michael Murray, and, well, Paris Hilton--have car trouble and stumble onto a town populated by real killer personalities. The R-rated result is fairly gruesome and, though no one ever quite looks frightened enough, Collet-Serra knows his way around a jolting suspense sequence or two. Cuthbert and an unintentionally funny Murray (striking ludicrous poses as some kind of real toughie) act more like angry ex-lovers than the fraternal twins they're supposed to be; Hilton acts bored while her real-life video scandal is exploited for ironic kicks; and the film heads shamelessly over-the-top with each new twist. As an exercise in bloody mayhem, it has a few novel touches, but you can easily find better scares.--Steve Wiecking

(Great Classic NBA Video!)
『BOTTOM LINE:

This was one of the biggest selling sports videos of its time (1989), and for good reason; it captured all of the unbelievable moments, moves, highlights and dunks of a Young Jordan - from his days in UNC, to his historic rookie year in the NBA to the days when he was a scoring machine!

Witness MJ start the whole marketing mega-trend that (sadly) helped make all of these new young athletes the overpaid crybabies that they are today. lol

(These are visions of what might have been)
『And if you're doin' drugs, stop it. Come Fly With Me captures the legend of Micheal Jordan in an exciting, and honest video. Fans of Jordan are priveledged to old commercials, and excellent NBA footage that demonstrates exactly why Jordan's star shines so bright. Narrated by Jay Thomas - who does a surprisingly nice job - the video illuminates Jordan's passion for the game as well as the pride in his family that drives him to succeed. It must be nice to be a natural at something...at anything; however, to watch Jordan take on the world's best and make their skills seem childlike is an amazing feat. The video actually offers to viewers a incredible insight into life and hard work. Come Fly With Me is able to be enjoyed, and understood by fans of any age.
Mr. Jordan - your video is inspirational!!! That's the ticket!』

(Best basketball video ever!)
『I used to wear this video OUT at Blockbuster when I was younger, great old school basketball video. COME FLY WITH MICHAEL. Back when the NBA was actually fun to watch.』

(Jordan, the early years)
『If you have any doubt who the greatest basketball player of all time is, watch this video. This film was made nearly 15 years ago and it still wows me. I'm from Chicago so it is a Windy City bias. But it is true he is the best. Before the championships and him beating the Bad Boys, Jordan dazzled fans all over the nation with his 360 dunks, sick layups, incredible game winning shots and his winning attitude is what made up of Jordan before he won his six titles. This video also details his early life with his family, his daily battles on his families Basketball court with his older brother Larry. Him getting cut from his varsity high school team and his eventuall stardom at Laney high school. His successful run at North Carolina, with star teamates, James Worthy and Sam Perkins. Him winning the 1982 NCAA title against Patrick Ewing's Georgetown. Also relives his 1984 Olympic gold medal. Him being drafted third by the Bulls. Being passed over by the Portland TrailBlazers for.... Sam Bowie!!! The video also goes over Micheal's dramtic rise into stardom in 1984-85 where he won Rookie Of The Year. He then breaks his foot in early 1986 and he came all the way back, despite the Bulls front office telling him not to do it.He came back with fire, when in the 1986 playoffs, he scored 63 points against a team with four hall of famers, Bill Walton, Robert Parish, Kevin McHale, and of course, Larry Bird. This video is a gem to own, for any basketball fans, and MJ fans. Also, you can find this video on the Ultimate Jordan DVD collection, which I also own. You will love it.』

(A MUST HAVE FOR JORDAN FANS)
『One Word: Bestsportsvideoever.

Awesome highlights from his early years. The dialogue from this video and the calls of the announcers will stick in your head. If you play basketball, Every time you touch a basketball you will try to immitate highlights from this video. If you are a Michael Jordan fan, you absolutely MUST have this video. If you aren't a Michael Jordan fan, you still should have it. Best sports video I have ever seen. If you are a Michael Jordan fan, you will not be able to take this tape out of your VCR.』
『It's showtime!Come Fly with Mepacks in 50 minutes of breathtaking basketball highlights of the man considered the greatest basketball player of all time: Michael Jordan. Produced in 1989, before Jordan's first championship with the Chicago Bulls,Come Flycovers Michael's middle-class childhood in North Carolina, his rise in the NCAA ranks with the University of North Carolina, and the first few professional seasons with the Bulls. But if it's athletic wonders you seek as opposed to lots of factual details, you'll be well satisfied. This video clearly was designed to celebrate, not necessarily sketch out, the man and his history.

Early footage of Michael will delight longtime Bulls fans. Included are interviews with family members, school mentors (we meet the coach who made the now-famous cut of Michael from his high-school junior varsity team), and 1980s Bulls coach Doug Collins (complete with frizzy 'fro), and plenty of slam dunks, athletic ballet, and "Wanna Be Like Mike" charisma. Missing is mention of fellow University of North Carolina teammates James Worthy and Sam Perkins, as well as a decent hip-hop soundtrack (the music is early sports documentary cheezola), but these are small flaws compared to the man's jaw-dropping aerobics. Footage of the slam-dunk contest alone--where Jordan captured his own goal of taking off at the free-throw line and dunking at the hoop (complete with legs bent back in Air flight)--will leave viewers grinning and shaking their heads. His energy is endless, his creativity self-renewing, and his athleticism graceful and magical. This video is a fun peek into the youthful Michael now so far behind us.--Karen Karleski

(Walk Hard, Dewey Cox!)
『I remember when this came out and, even tho I really like John C. Reilly (GREAT character actor!), I had no desire to see it. Then my brother was talking about the movie and he couldn't find it at our local video rental so I told him I'd look for it out on amazon.com. Found it, bought it and, just to humor my brother, I watched it with him. LAUGHED MY A** OFF! While this movie may not be for everyone, it's definitely worth checking it out. JCR is BRILLIANT in this role. Thanks for letting me share.』

(This Movie Was Great)
『I love this movie it was sooo funny.. I loved the part about reefer that was probably the funniest part along with everything else i guess lol.. John C Reilly is one of the funniest actors i have ever watched he is above Parr in every movie hes in and Walk Hard is definitely no exception. Highly Recommended』

(Walk Hard: The Story of Dewey Cox)
『Spoof movies have been around for as long as the art form of film has been entertaining people. From Charlie Chaplin to Woody Allen to the Marx Brothers and Mel Brooks, film makers have been spoofing other movie forms to satirize society and politics. Spoof movies have made us laugh while also showing us the error in our ways and the inherent stupidity found in our societal ways. Unfortunately, the form has taken a beating with the "[Insert Genre Here] Movie" series which has driven the genre into the mire. But when Judd Apatow joined with Jake Kasdan (a co-collaborator on Freaks and Geeks and Zero Effect), what they came up with should have turned the genre up on it's ear.

After the accidental halving of his brother, Dewey Cox learns how to play blues guitar and starts writing songs. At the age of 14, he insights a riot with the song "Take My Hand" and leaves home to seek stardom. Dewey's discovered by Jewish businessmen in a club where black folk go to dance erotically when Dewey fills in for the regular act when he gets laryngitis. Making a huge splash with his first single, Walk Hard, Dewey goes on the road and we follow him through the ups and downs, the relationships, the drugs, and the destroying of multiple public and private bathrooms.

Jake Kasdan and Judd Apatow do a great job of making this movie feel like a real biopic and not just a series of skits formed together to make a movie. They present each time frame with real authenticity, injecting the 60's with the whimsy we've seen in past movies, and the 70's with the "grooviness" we've come to expect of this kind of movie. The music feels authentic as well, feeling as if it's been written throughout the time frames seen in the movie.

But you don't go into a parody for the dramatic elements, and for the comedy this movie has great pedigree. It fits in handsomely with other Apatow comedies like Knocked Up, 40 Year Old Virgin, and Forgetting Sarah Marshall. John C. Reilly, fresh off Taladega Nights, shows off more of the comedic chops that he had shown in that movie, while also bringing a dramatic pedigree to the role not typical to this kind of comedy in recent years (he was nominated for an Oscar for his role in Chicago). On top of that, it seems as though everyone in Hollywood wanted to be involved in this movie as this movie boasts one of the largest lists of cameos I have ever seen in a movie including Paul Rudd, Jack Black, Jack White of the White Stripes, Lyle Lovett, Jewell, Tim Meadows, Justin Long, Kristen Wiig, Craig Robinson, and Jonah Hill just to name a few.

As with any biopic, whether real or fake, though, this movie seems to loose it's away as the main character loses his way as well. It becomes more frenetic and loses pacing later on, but seems to catch itself before straying too far. Also some of the characters are underdeveloped as usually happens in biopics as you try to cram in characters that truly effected the main characters life. Luckily, the movie never feels as though it's dragging, and remains consistent with the laughs throughout.

While Walk Hard was a critical hit, it unfortunately, it bombed at the box office where it deserved more of an audience. I highly recommend giving this chance if you like comedy and musician biopics. While funny, the movie never feels as though it's making fun of the people presented in the biopics it's skewering like Johnny Cash or Ray Charles. A word of warning, as with any Apatow flick one can expect a large amount of vulgarity including full frontal male and female nudity, a lot of cursing, and more than one person getting cut in half, so this may not be a movie you want to watch in front of the children. For those of you who can get around the aforementioned vulgarity (or embrace it as I do) you will be justly rewarded!

4/5』

(Awesome movie and great music)
『There's nothing I can say positive about this movie that the other reviews haven't. From 'He's only 14!' to the last frame of Dewey clutching his chest, this movie rocks. The comedy is crazy in parts, yet subtle in others.

The one thing that really stood out at me, is the number of running jokes in this movie. Dewey's wife says he'll fail no matter how much he accomplishes, he tries each new drug in the bathroom, his music changes after each new drug, he's never home but has dozens of kids, he busts up bathrooms each time he gets peed off, his dad keeps saying the wrong kid died, he mispronounces the first two drug names 'reefers' and 'cok caine', and there's another one or two I found but can't think of.

This is a great movie, and the best comedy I've seen in years.』

(Was surprised I liked it so much.)
『Warning, mild spoilers ahead! (Very mild, don't think they will spoil anything)

I bought this (or rather the bilingual Japanese version) from Amazon.co.jp, which is why it doesn't list me as having purchased it through Amazon.com. I bought this in the hopes that I could share it with students in a university Media class that I teach. I didn't have much in the way of expectations, mainly because I knew next to nothing about it before buying it (I don't know if it was even released theatrically here), but I found that I really liked this movie. I never thought I would like a film where not 1, but 2 people get halved with machetes -- I never, ever, ever, ever, never, never thought I would say that. But there you go, never ever say never.

What is this movie? A parody of Walk the Line? A genre by genre comedic dance of the history of American popular music? A tour de force for John C. Reilly? I think it is a bit of all of these things. I think one of the most important things about this film is that it shows that Reilly is much, much more than a sidekick for Will Ferrell. He is a genuine talent. I loved the fact that after the elementary school aged Dewey Cox, it is always Reilly, with no intermediate stage actors, playing the character. Somehow I found it really funny when the 6 foot 4 , 40 something Reilly, was playing 14 year old Cox asking his mom not to embarrass him in front of his friends.

Much like Jerry Lee Lewis, Cox gets a twelve year old girlfriend, but she is played by a 30 something year old actress. Utterly absurd (but not in the derogatory sense). Like many good movies, the supporting cast makes a big difference. Tim Meadows, SNL alum (the Ladies Man) was very good as the drummer who was with Cox since the beginning of his career, and was his gateway into spiraling decline by enabling his drug use, running the gambit as enabler from pot in the 50s, to Viagra in the modern day. How about Harold Ramis (I didn't recognize him until his 2nd or 3rd appearance) as a Hasidic record producer, or David Krumolz (Charlie from Numb3rs) as long time agent. Jack Black as Paul McCartney? Frank Muniz (Malcolm, form Malcolm in the Middle) as Buddy Holiday? This film was fun from a "Who the hell is that!?!?" name that cameo, perspective. --Please don't complain that Jack Black has almost no physical resemblance to Paul McCartney, that and his accent is spoofalicious, it is part of the gag.

Speaking of which, one of the cool things about this film was its effective use of the running gag. It is so easy to overuse or misuse such things, but from Meadows continuous admonition of "You don't want any of this!", just before he pulls Cox into a new form of drug abuse, to Cox's tendency to tear sinks out of bathroom walls as a metaphor for despair, to his father's horrible mantra, "The wrong son died!", somehow they seemed to play all these jokes pretty well. This film was all about hyperbole. It really seemed to capture so much of American music, and troubled musicians, by showing intentionally exaggerated to the breaking point versions of different character types.

I can't understand the 1 star reviews given to this film, but I guess you can't argue taste, perhaps especially so in terms of humor. Either you get it or you don't. I think I got it. His wife, 13 or 14 years old at the time, already with a several kids (though remember, the actress is in her 30s), using as her telephone sign off, "I love you, you're going to fail!," or Cox not realizing that bigamy was illegal ("What, even if your famous?") was pretty genuinely funny.

I hope that this film makes a lot of money as a dvd, gains a following, and maybe cult status, because apparently it didn't get much notice in the theaters. I really want the powers that be to be encouraged to allow more, similarly creative stuff, and for John C. Reilly (and Harold Ramis, and Tim Meadows, and the other creative folks too numerous to mention) to be in a lot more things. This is not a Ferrell&Reilly comedy, minus Ferrell. This is its own, pretty cool thing that should be judged on its own (in my opinion) very high merits.

『The Pixar-like roll of Judd Apatow (The 40-Year-Old Virgin,Knocked Up,Superbad) continues with another sure-fire hit. In charting the meteoric rise, catastrophic fall and Lazarus-like rise of rocker Dewey Cox,Walk Hardparodies the classic Hollywood bio-pic, cashing in mostly onWalk the Line. John C. Reilly, one of Hollywood's most solid character actors, makes the most of his Golden Globe-nominated star turn as Dewey, whose road to stardom is paved with a childhood tragedy that claims the life of his prodigiously talented brother ("The wrong kid died," is his father's mantra), instant stardom (his first record is a hit just 35 minutes after it was recorded), sex and drugs, and the inevitable "dark (effen) period" that leads him to rehab. Reilly gets solid backup from current and formerSaturday Night Livealumni, including Kirsten Wiig as his incredibly fertile first wife who has no faith in his musical aspirations ("You're never going to make it," she cheerily ends one phone call); Tim Meadows, never better, as Dewey's drummer, who, in one of the film's best scenes, does a poor job of dissuading him from trying marijuana); and Chris Parnell as his bass player. Jenna Fischer leaves Pam back atThe Officeas Darlene, Dewey's virtuous duet partner. Hilarious cameos giveWalk Harda great "Hey!" factor: Hey, that's Frankie Muniz as Buddy Holly. Hey, that's "Kenneth" from30 Rock. Hey, there's Jack Black and Paul Rudd as--no kidding--Paul McCartney and John Lennon revealing "a rift in the Beatles." Some of the jokes are obvious (come on; the guy's last name is Cox), others inspired. But the decades-spanning music, echoing the styles of gritty Johnny Cash, romantic Roy Orbison, obtuse Bob Dylan, trippy Brian Wilson, and even a bit of anachronistic punk rock, is as pitch perfect and affectionately observed as inThe Rutles,This Is Spinal TapandA Mighty Wind.Walk Hardearns its R-rating, particularly for a sure-to-be-talked-about scene of hotel-room debauchery. But: Hilarious? Outrageous? Twisted? To quote the title of one of Dewey's hit songs, "Guilty as Charged."--Donald Liebenson

(Beware of strangulation!)
『Any figure 8 harness is dangerous!

I was trying one of these on my cat, so she could get used to it before we had to go anywhere using it.

She immediately got her back leg caught in the chest strap, while scratching at it and trying to get it off. This tightened the noose around her neck dangerously tight! The more she struggled to get her leg free, the more she choked herself!

Thankfully, I stayed in the room after putting the harness on her, to watch her. I was able to free her within a minute of her entanglement, but she was traumatized by the whole experience and I feel lucky that she was not injured.

If you think about it, any harness of this design is a potential strangle noose. No matter how much slack you leave around the cat's neck, if the chest strap gets caught on anything, the neck strap will tighten.』

(Great product as long as your cat isn't too chunky)
『I'm experimenting with getting my cats used to this harness, in preparation for summer walks. (Collars just don't cut it for the little Houdinis.) First, the bad news: while it fits my 11 pounder (small chest, big butt) just fine, the 14 pounder (height-weight proportionate) is uncomfortable in it. As recommended by others, he's getting the small dog model.

Other thoughts:
- I'd be very surprised if my cat could wriggle out of it.
- The cat seems OK with wearing the harness. Not happy. But willing to live with it.
- It looks nice.
- The clip is a little small. My cats are shorthairs, and I'm pretty dextrous, but fastening the clip when it's in a mound of tummy fur is kind of a pain.』

(I'll have to be different here, my cat hates it)
『It is relatively easy to adjust, allowing for a wiggly cat, and easy to put on if it's adjusted to larger than the minimum size, which is what I was looking for as my cat really struggles with putting on a regular harness. It would get five stars if this was all I had to say, but then people who need to see this review might miss it.

I think the problem is that my cat is too small for it. As I mentioned, she doesn't like having a regular harness put on, but once it's on she seems to forget it's there. With this harness she lies down on the spot as if she's too heavy to move; she doesn't jump around and play like she normally would. She just barely has an 8" neck and 12" chest, so I believe the plastic pad lying well over both her shoulder blades is uncomfortable to her.

I am also unable to adjust it as small as it really needs to be because the smaller sized neck that can go with a 12" chest does not appear to be accounted for.

My cat's small size makes it difficult to put the harness on if it's adjusted as small as it can go because the head loop is then too small to pull over her head either direction, but still too big for her neck. Having to adjust and readjust each time I put it on defeats my purpose in purchasing this model, since she again struggles during the adjustment.

Basically, if your cat just meets the minimum size requirement listed, wait until s/he grows a bit for this harness, perhaps until s/he has a 14" chest, or look at a different harness. I'm still looking for something that will work well for my cat (who is admittedly unusually small).』

(Nice harness, easy to get on cat)
『This is a great harness and is so easy to put on your cat -- just slip the smaller loop (the one without the buckle) over your cat's head, and then clasp the other loop behind their front legs/around their tummy. The flat plastic connector (the thing in the middle that looks like a black Pringle chip) sits on top of their shoulderblades. Besides being fully adjustable, which is awesome, the best feature of this harness is the swiveling ring -- so your leash never gets tangled or twisted, no matter which way your cat might turn.

Our 6-month-old cat (5.5 lbs) just barely fits into this harness (as in, it's almost too big for her), so it's probably not for smaller cats. She's not sure she likes it yet and rolls around on the ground once in a while to try to get it off. While she's wearing it, I give her treats and we play with her favorite toys in hopes that she'll start associating the harness with happy feelings. I'm confident that she'll acclimate to the harness and we'll be walking her in no time!』

(serial murderer's playground)
『It's a time-tested classic horror-movie setup: a disturbingly dark apartment with severed parts of lifeless mannequins strewn all over the place. Cue the horror-flick music, and break out the ketchup.

Seriously, these sets have all the look of a microsized, serial murderer's playground! When I got an up-close view, THAT was my very first impression. My daughter unwrapped it, and I was immediately repulsed, wondering what Mattel designer was quite THAT disturbed! To me, the concept barely borders on sheer insanity. And the toy? There is absolutely no advantage over the more normal ones, and some disadvantages. The pieces get lost, like always, but that's a bigger deal than with the tiny clothes. At least you can always buy more sets of clothes. Even if they were available, how would you feel buying a few spare body parts?? (shudder) Creepy. The disturbingly dismembered dolls also take up surprisingly more storage space than just the normal dolls and clothes. Because of that, they're not as size-handy to take along for family visits, playdates, etc. My daughter doesn't find them nearly as fun to play with, and every time I look at them, they're STILL simply disturbing (Yes, it is worth mentioning again.). I don't care how many combinations the set can make, when I see "pop-n-swap" I'm specifically not buying them. And since someone doesn't really like them as much, these will likely disappear in favor of normal-doll clothes and accessories! I can still vote with my money.』

(Fun for everyone!)
『This set was relatively easy to remove. The girls LOVED to play with it, they had hours of fun. I'd recommend this to any of my friends.』

(We love pop and swap, but they don't sit right)
『We love to play polly pocket, and the only down side to these dolls (the pop and swap) is that when you try to sit them in their seats, they might pop in half. But we still love them, and continue to purchase them.』

(HARMFUL message to young girls!)
『I saw this product while shopping with my young daughter. What a TERRIBLE message to send to young girls, on SO many different levels - not only does it teach our girls that women are in and of themselves an accessory which can be "swapped" for a better model when we tire of the one we have, not only does it encourage women to see themselves as a collection of parts, which can (and should) be analayzed as separate entities, each requiring scrutiny, but there is an underlying image of violence in seeing women's body parts separated by little plastic bubbles. Please, DO NOT buy this HARMFUL product for your impressionable young girl!!!』

(My 4 year old loves it)
『My daughter wanted this for her 4th birthday. I got her 2 different sets. She enjoys them and play with them frequently. She is able to put the pieces together. She was frustrated with other Polly pocket toys because she really couldn't dress them herself. She was thrilled with this toy!』
『It's a real fashion frenzy with this set that contains four Polly Pocket dolls and tons of dance-themed mix 'n match fashion pieces. Create over 400 unique looks from head to toe on every doll. Includes four 4" dolls and lots of Pop 'N Swap fashions.』

(Poser 6 Review)
『I got frustrated trying make humanoid figures in Blender, so i purchased Poser6. From the outset the default figures are very good. It didnt take me long to learn how to add hair, clothing and deform the figures. But thats as far as i got. There are so many variables that affect the final render, such as lighting, skin textures, etc. This package is for experienced users. I have since sold my Poser package, as it was far too complex for what i expected.』

(poser 6)
『this product is extremely difficult to learn. I recently purchased two more expensive manuals ro learn the process and also the tutorials the company has are beyond the average users learning.』

(Merits Need to Be Proven)
『In theory and ideal this an incredibly wonderful package with great expectations.Since personally I have not created anything better, yet,it is difficult to ridicule, but I must say the bugs should have been minimized before the next version was released which no doubt is plagued with the aforesaid problems. The copy I received was not full functioning as they set claims for it to be and appeared less than a demo version which was available for free. Many of its claimed functions did not,i.e. realistic hair design and motion, animated movement(walk path acted like fly by,but was interesting, thought provoking),charactar foldrs wouldnot open and import from Shader was null and character creation was non existant. It has a face morph which does layer faces onto some heads, feature morh works limitedly(aging, facial nuiscances) but would not export to working scene image and were stuck in creation room.Customer service was great need,I did admittedly pester them daily with reports of bugs and failures with detailed actions as atempts of work arounds.Import export features too limited for productivity or usage.Concidering I had purchsed a several hundred meg GPU card for such works with multipipe lines this was very perpplexing tool(or toy) to deal with, animation was never simple for quality in film or video,』

(Shade LE?)
『I received the bundle but there is no installation key for Shade LE.

I noticed the someone else's review stating this same problem is no longer visible so I figured I'd post it again.』

(Much room for improvement...)
『As has been previously pointed out, Poser 6 seems to have been designed by a committee of people..that did not much like each other.
The user interface is pretty terrible. It seriously needs revamping to a more Windows-like format.

The cration of figures yields very good results on the other hand, although additional content can run into big bucks. Be warned.

My biggest beef with Poser 6 is with applying clothing to the model. It is ludicrously hard to do. It is TEDIOUS to the point of suicidal depression. There has GOT to be a better way.
Actually... there is a better way: placing the artical of clothing in position , the "shrink-wrapping" it around the figure, using the polys of thye figure itself as a guide. I do not have the coding skills to write such a sub-routine myself, but there are plenty of people that do.

Poser 7 is supposed to be coming out this year right in time for Xmas. I REALLY hope efrontiers is not doing a rush job on getting Poser 7 out in time. That was done with Poser 5 when it was released and proved a serious botch job. Poser 6 is only a marginal improvement over it's predecessor. I am hoping 7 will be a REAL improvement.

What the program REALLY needs is a complete, top-to-bottom redesign; from scratch. What we have actually seen so far is new versions of the same old thing; a patch, on a patch, on a patch.』

『Poser 6 brings the art of figure design and posing right to your desktop, with an innovative UI to make working with the human form easily accessible. Included human and animal models come ready for you to start designing and posing immediately. You can click-and-drag to interactively sculpt faces, pose body parts, or create various ethnic varieties. For those who require finer control, full body morphs, facial expression morphs, and bone rigging are easily accessible for any figure. All features and models are provided in a natural 3D environment for realistic depth, lighting and shadowing on any figure in any pose. You can pose any figure by clicking and dragging a body part. With Document Display Styles you can view and design your figure in silhouette, outline, wireframe, textured, and more. The program lets you manipulate individual body parts, including the full body, facial expressions and fully articulated hands, and interactively sculpt and design figures in real time, including the body and facial expressions. Object-level Collision Detection helps with posing and avoids collisions when animating.

What's New in Poser 6?
  • New Figures
Poser 6 introduces James and Jessi, new figures with amazing realism to bring a new level of photorealstic content to your artwork. Both figures accurately depict the human form, have lifelike skin textures, and full morph target sets to design your own custom figures with facial expressions. Also included are new boy and girl children figures, Ben and Kate, who complete the new Poser family. The new Poser figures come with photorealistic texture maps, full body morphs, facial expression morphs, and are fully rigged for posing.
  • More Content
Poser's Content Paradise now includes a host of top content providers, to bring you a diverse range of Poser 6 models, textures, poses, character packs, utilities and free stuff. A redesigned interface makes finding Poser content faster and easier than ever before.
  • Enhanced UI
Poser's innovative UI is centered on a productive room-based environment. Individual Pose, Setup, Materials, Hair and Cloth rooms provide easy feature access for each step in the creative process. In addition to rooms, Poser uses floating palettes and windows. You can customize your Poser workspace by hiding/displaying and relocating controls anywhere you like. You can even save up to nine different screen configurations for the entire Poser workspace.
  • Shadow Catching
Poser 6 introduces several new features to support artists in rendering more true to life shadow effects. For example the NEW Shadow Catcher feature enables you to separate shadows from their underlying surface, and put them virtually anywhere. These new features make image composition and integrating 3D figures into graphic design easier.
  • New Toon Outlines
The New Toon Outline feature uses post-processing during rendering to draw an outline around the edges of cartoon images. Poser 6 offers customizable outline styles, enabling you to further personalize your cartoon shading look. Add a distinctive style to any cartoon imagery for comics. Now you have the choice to add outlines to any cartoon imagery you create with Poser. This feature's effect is most dramatic when combined with a cartoon shader node. Configurable Cartoon Shading preview styles allow you to approximate the final render results as you work.
  • OpenGL
OpenGL delivers accelerated performance when previewing anything from cartoon to photorealistic 3D figures. Now you can display vivid textures and lighting in real-time when designing figures. You can even render high resolution images using the OpenGL Preview renderer. There are accelerated previews for your 3D scenes, so you can see vivid textures and lighting in real-time. This feature works with all Document Display Styles, including wireframe, cartoon, and more. You can render out your 3D scene display with the OpenGL Preview renderer, and easily switch between SreeD Software and OpenGL Hardware for scene previews--which means you can maximize your system's resources and spend your time creating rather than waiting.
  • New Ambient Occlusion
Ambient Occlusion makes figures seem as though they are in the natural lighting environment of the real world. Ambient Occlusion is available on every light to create accurate soft shadow effects, thus giving scenes a new degree of realism. The new Ambient Occlusion shader node makes figures and objects appear as though they are in a natural lighting environment. Ambient Occlusion darkens surfaces within a scene whose exposure to light is blocked by other objects. This effect uses raytracing to calculate the degree to which other objects within a scene occlude the ambient light of a surface at a given point. Surfaces with more occlusion will be rendered as darker than surfaces with little or no occlusion. You can set Ambient Occlusion lighting for all objects, or select lighting effects focused on specific parts of your scene.
