There is now a whole new generation of Boulez fans that has acquired its enthusiasm for Boulez's music from the works Boulez has written since 1970, from music that a friend of mine refers to as "Boulez lite." More or less contemporaneous with Boulez's most original, ambitious, and fully realized work, Pli selon pli (1962), Figures, doubles, prismes (1963; 1968) is anything but Boulez lite. This teeming work is an exhilarating ride, brilliant demonstration that Boulez was once one of the great contrapuntal masters. The elegant and ceremonial Rituel is simply not in the same league.
It's good to have recordings of the five extant Notations on a single disc, and Notations I, III, and VII in particular demonstrate that Boulez still has some of the contrapuntal and developmental powers that were at his disposal in Pli selon pli and Figures, doubles, prismes.
Figures, doubles, prismes receives a thoroughly assured and gleaming performance from Robertson and his virtuosically secure forces, although I still prefer Boulez's own magnificent Erato recording.
-david gable 』
(Robertson steps up to the podium and reveals a splendid take on Boulez's music) 『On this Naive disc, David Robertson conducts the Orchestre National de Lyon in seven pieces by Pierre Boulez. Most of Boulez's music has been conducted by the composer himself, but here the old master lets a younger generation tackle his music. The result is highly satisfying.
The first piece here chronologically is one of Boulez's most problematic. "Figures-Doubles-Prismes" (1963/1968) was first conceived in 1957. Karlheinz Stockhausen was writing his famous piece "Gruppen" for three orchestras at the time, and Boulez was interested in the unorthodox arrangement of the performing ensemble. Boulez's own approach was to use a single orchestra but to mix its segments up, with brass and wind inside the string section, resulting in exotic combinations of timbre. The result is rather disappointing, with nothing like the glittering colours of his earlier piece "Pli selon pli" or his next one "Eclat", but it does reveal a more confident pacing and powerful sense of motion that was missing from his rather lethargic 1950s works. A clear dramatic arc, however, it does not have. Boulez still hasn't finished the piece in nearly a half-century, and listening to it one can immediately tell that it's still very much a sketch for something else.
The notion of dividing the ensemble up continues with "Rituel" for orchestra in eight groups (1974/75), but here only each group is heard at a time for most of the work, and Boulez calls it "large-scale chamber music". The piece was written in memory of Bruno Maderna, a Darmstadt figure who is nearly forgotten now but who was a close friend and inspiration to many composers who came of age in the 1950s. With its solemn pace and sad, mournful tones, the piece serves as a strong antidote to that usual conservative accusation that serialism "can't communicate anything." This is Boulez's vastest work in terms of percussion, with a large amount of exotic drums, cymbals, bells, wood blocks, and so forth on the stage. Its fifteen sections consist of highly mobile even-numbered intonations, unconducted after Boulez signals their starting points, contrasted with strict conducted responses. Over the course of the work, we move from one orchestral group to another, exploring all of its timbres even though the melodic material is intentionally limited to create a feeling of sorrow. I'm familiar with Boulez's reading of the piece on a Sony disc, and I'm happy to say Robertson conducts the piece just as well.
In the second half of the 1970s Boulez wrote a brief piece for cello ensemble called "Messagesquisse" and announced his attention to expand it into a concerto for orchestra. What he came up with instead starting in 1980 was a tremendous surprise, and ended up being his most frequently-performed set of works: the "Notations" for orchestra. Five so far (I-IV and VII) they are based on twelve Webern-like piano miniatures written in 1945 while Boulez was still a student. The music was tremendously expanded in orchestration, but always retains the original at its heart. One has said of the orchestrations that it was almost as if Boulez looked at the original score with a magnifying glass and discovered more notes. The frenetic "Notations II" was only 30 seconds long in the piano original, but in orchestration was expanded to four times that length, and involves every single player in the orchestra in nearly every single barline. Much of the playing can't be immediately noticed by the audience, but serves to thicken the overall texture and power of the ensemble. Pieces I and VII are the most subtle, where the landscape of the music gradually changes on the surface, but if one listens more deeply, dozens of busy operations are at work like tadpoles in a tranquil stream.
The "Notations" are Boulez at his best, glittering textures, powerful crescendi, exciting glissandi; it's no wonder that many orchestras (such as the CSO) regularly play one or two of them to open their concerts. I was pleased that Robertson conducts them better than Barenboim, who appears on two previous recordings of the pieces. But after hearing a few bootleg recordings of Boulez leading various ensemble, I think that Robertson conducts them even better than the composer himself. Individual elements can be heard here much more clearly, and there's never any sense of muddiness.
The liner notes consist of an interview of Boulez and Robertson by Jean-Pierre Derrien. It's a very friendly introduction to the concepts behind the work and the challenges they pose for a conduction. An analysis, however, it is not, and those interested in the complex organization of "Rituel" would do well to pick up Dominique Jameux's study of Boulez and his music.
If I don't rate this five stars, it's only because my favourite works by Boulez are "Eclat/Multiples" (on a mid-price Sony disc everyone should get), and "Repons", "Sur Incises" and "...explosante-fixe..." (all on DG). Still, the three pieces here are worth hearing, even if "Figures-Doubles-Prismes" still hasn't been resolved.』
(The pupil outshines his master in a superb Rituel) 『In many ways, this is a very well-planned recording, as it features three works by Pierre Boulez, conducted by his American protégé David Robertson with the French orchestra he directed for four years, the Orchestre National de Lyon.
The disc begins with perhaps Boulez's best-known orchestral work, Rituel in memoriam Maderna, written after the death of the Italian composer-conductor who had been a father figure to Boulez and several other post-war modernists. This was the first Boulez work I heard, and it made an immediate impact on me that probably has not been equalled by any of the Boulez that I have heard subsequently: its directness of expression, emotional depth, easily comprehensible form and concentration on melody perhaps make it the most likely of Boulez's works to enter the orchestral repertoire. Over around twenty-five minutes of musical call-and-response, a melody is elaborated against a backdrop of slightly irregular percussion, the melody moving from a single oboe to larger and larger orchestral groups, until after the climax this process is reversed, and the music returns to where it began. This work has been recorded several times before, perhaps most memorably by the composer himself shortly after its composition, but I find this recording outshines both the composer's and the other readings I've heard (Barenboim, Zender). Robertson's gentle pace, tenderly shaped phrasing and eye for detail make this a powerful and emotionally intense experience and remind one that there is more to Boulez than his "iceman" image. (It would be interesting to hear Boulez record this work again--judging by his recent rerecording of Le Marteau sans maitre I suspect that a contemporary Boulez interpretation would be very similar to Robertson's.)
The next five works, from Boulez's orchestral Notations series, have a typically complicated gestation. As a teenage composition student, Boulez had written twelve short piano pieces named Notations, which were lost for many years before being rediscovered. Many years later, he started to expand each of these pieces into larger works for orchestra: I-IV appeared in 1980, VII in 1998, and more are promised (though, typically, much-delayed). The Notations so far completed tend to alternate between two styles: one rather dreamy, detailed, floating slowly between harmonies (I, III and VII) and the other fiercely violent, rhythmic and sharply accented (II and IV). The order of performance of individual pieces is left up to the conductor, though for the first four pieces the order I-IV-III-II seems to have become commonplace: Robertson adds in the more recent VII between I and IV, which makes musical and logical sense, and indeed he is particularly strong in the slower works, his unhurried approach bringing out both their warmth and the considerable detail in the writing. II and IV fare slightly less well: though under Robertson they are vigorous and rhythmic, they cannot match Abbado's earlier live recording (of I-IV) on his Wien Modern disc for sheer virtuosic energy andélan.
The closing work on the disc, Figures-Doubles-Prismes, is less essential Boulez than what has gone before. A sort of concerto for orchestra, it lacks both the sheer beauty of Rituel and the energy of Notations II and IV, though there are many fascinating details in it. Here, Robertson is in competition with the composer's own recording, and his brisk, uncomplicated approach is a contrast to Boulez's rather slower reading. I couldn't really pick a favourite between the two, though perhaps the composer's reading is slightly more characterful.
This disc can be warmly recommended for an outstanding performance of Rituel and for the best complete Notations available: fine performances of works which might well surprise those who have so far not warmed to Boulez's music.』

This is great for Dodger fans. As a Yankee fan I was most interested in their two confrontations in 1963 and 1981. Both were very memorable to me. The Yankees also played the Dodgers in the 1977 and 1978 World Series but the Dodgers were on the short end of those series, so they are not included. In 1959 the Dodger won in only their second year in Los Angeles. They beat Al Lopez's White Sox in 6th games. This was the beginning of the Koufax and Drysdale Dodgers but the pitching hero was a reliever named Larry Sherry. Casey Stengel's Yankees only lost the American League pennant twice in the 1950s and both times it was to a team managed by Al Lopez. First the Cleveland Indians with the pitching of Feller, Wynn and Lemon in 1954 and then to the White Sox in 1959. In 1954 the Indians amassed an amazing total of more than 110 wins in a 154 game season and so a Yankee team that won as many games as any in the 1950s lost out. 1959 was the only bad year that the Yankees had under Stengel and they finished a distant third that year.
In 1963 the Yankees still had Mantle and Maris and Skowron, Howard and Berra. They were the defending World Champions but got swept by the Dodgers in the series due to phenomenal pitching. Mantle did hit his 15th World Se3ries home run off Koufax in game 4 to tie a record that Babe Ruth held at the time for most World Series home runs.
Three of the games were pitchers battles with Ford battling Koufax twice and Bouton against Drysdale. But the Dodgers were able to win each game. A young Al Downing picthed the other game.
1981 was another interesting year. It was a strike year with a split season where there was a playoff in each league between the teams that won each half season. I think Cincinnati had a better overall record than any team in the National League but because of the peculiar format they didn't even get into the playoff since their record in each half was not the tops in the league. It was Fernando Valenzuela's rookie season and the popular Mexican was the National League Rookie of the Year and Cy Young award winner. The excitement due in part to the large Mexican-American population in the Los Angeles area led the media to refer to this as Fernando mania. He was able to lead Lasorda's Dodgers to a victory over those Yankees that Tommy's team couldn't achieve in 1977 or 1978.
The 1988 Dodgers were the team led by Orel Hershiser and Kirk Gibson. They beat a strong Oakland As team. Gibson was unable to play in the Series but in the nonth inning of game 1 the Dodgers had the tying run on base with two outs. The As had brought their ace reliever Dennis Eckersley into the game. Lasorda decided to pinch hit with Kirk Gibson. Gibson hobbled up to the plate and if he hit a long "extra base" hit he would be lucky to make it just to first base.
Amazingly, Gibson made contact with a fast ball and somehow got the leverage to hit it into the right field seats at Dodger Stadium.
Jack Buck was calling the game for the national network on radio and was so stunned that he uttered the famous line "I don't believe what I just saw!"』
(The Dodger Glory Years) 『Having grown up a Dodgers fan, the '81 and '88 championships are part of my youth. However, I had never seen much footage on any of the other championships that they won after moving to LA. With the exception of the '65 series, every game is shown in detail.
1959: Dodgers beat the White Sox in six - Only their second year in Los Angeles, this team has been compared to the Amazing Mets because of the unlikeliness of their season. It shows the bridge between the Brooklyn Dodgers (Duke Snider, Johnny Podres, etc) to the '60's Los Angeles Dodgers (Don Drysdale and Sandy Koufax... including Koufax's first postseason start.) The credits show the narrator as "Vince Scully"... the familiar voice of the Dodgers for more than 50 years.
1963: Dodgers beat the Yankees in four - Ahhh... to sweep the Evil Empire (even on video) is sweet! Scully is back (now known simply as Vin) to walk us through the four game pitching demonstration. The first game saw Koufax break a record for most strikeouts in a World Series game (15) and the Series as a whole showed a grand total of four Yankee runs.
1965: Dodgers beat the Twins in seven - This is the one series that seems to be missing footage. Both game 2 and game 4 are rolled up into one single replay from the respective game with a very brief overview from Scully. Probably the most interesting thing about this series is the fact that both the Dodgers and Twins brough their Game 5 pitchers, Sandy Koufax and Jim Kaat, respectively, back for Game 7 on two days rest. For the Dodgers, that meanst skipping Drysdale's start... a HOF'er in his own right. Even more incredibly, Koufax pitches a complete game shutout!
1981: Dodgers beat the Yankees in six (at the time, it was only the second time that a team had lost the first two games and then won the next four) - This series recap shows more than just a scoring / highlight replay of the games. For the first time in the series of videos, the producer attempted to "set the scene" and provide some drama to the storyline. While I think all of these recaps are taken from their original productions, it does show the differences in how the game was marketed in the late 50's / early 60's versus the 80's. The other nice feature is that is does show some very limited highlights from both the Dodgers and Yankees earlier playoff series (including Rick Monday's dramatic homerun against the Expos).
From a series perspective, it showed games that I had seen in the original broadcast, which brought out a flood of, "Oh yeah... I remember that!" feelings. From Ron Cey's diving catch of a foul bunt and doubling the runner off first in Game 3 to Cey getting hit in the head with a pitch in Game 5 to the controversial decision to remove Tommy John after four innings in Game 6 (just prior to the flood gates opening), the moments are there. It also included three straight one-run victories by the Dodgers while playing in front of their home crowd.
1988: Dodgers beat the A's in five - What can be said about this series that hasn't already been said? Obviously, Game 1 is one of the all-time classics in World Series history. Jose Canseco's second inning grand slam became the A's only runs of the game (and, ironically, Canseco's only hit of the series). From that point on , Dodger relievers held Oakland in check and the offense got just enough to set up Kirk Gibson's dramatic homerun in the bottom of the ninth. Games 2 and 5 showed the mastery that was Orel Hershiser that season (he ended up as the winner of the World Series MVP, NLCS MVP, and the Cy Young winner for that season.) This truly was the little team that could.』
(Just what I was looking for) 『For a long time I have been wanting to find some footage of the old Dodger teams playing but MLB have made it hard to see it but this DVD has a lot of what I was looking for.』
(Finally) 『After wearing out my VHS versions, MLB productions have finally put their WS films on DVD. As al ifelong Dodger fan I wish they had also included the 1955 WS. Also why haven't they made all of the other MLB team Series available. Still need the Mets, Tigers, Braves and Indians I think. But the quality is still there on the new DVDs ans having them all in one package is great for a baseball lover like me. Also think MLB productions should put out more box sets of famous series like the 88 or 91 or maybe a playoff package like the 86 playoffs or the the 2003. Anyway if you love baseball like me you should pick these up』
(You can sell those tapes now.) 『Over the years, I bought all those World Series videos for the Dodgers that now go for $50-$100 apiece on auctions, Amazon and elsewhere. Now they are all available in all their glory on this two-disc DVD set.
No special music or extras here (which would be welcome), just the tapes transfered to DVD with narration by Vin Scully throughout except for the 1988 Series narrated by Bob Costas (complete with the puns but without the Gatorade drenching he got after the game where he said the Dodgers had the worst team in Series history on the field).
Since I have the original tapes, I was able to make a direct A-B comparison with the DVD set and the quality is very similar. No disappointments here but remember the old shows done in the late 50's and early 60's aren't up to par technologically with the later shows. Still it's a welcome set to those who have been searching for those VHS tapes of Dodger World Series Championships.

Then in 1988, the Dodgers upended the powerful Oakland A's (led by Bash Brothers Jose Canseco and Mark McGwire) after a storybook home run by gimpy Kirk Gibson off A's closer Dennis Eckersley. Also key was the pitching of Orel Hershiser, who won two WS games after setting a major-league record with 59 consecutive scoreless innings during the regular season. 『Legendary basketball coach John Wooden, who was revered as the "Wizard of Westwood" while guiding UCLA to 10 national championships (including an astounding seven in a row), presents his philosophy for success in life in this intelligently produced video that transcends the world of basketball. After a notable career as a college player at Purdue, Wooden graduated in 1932 and became an English teacher. And his love of literature and his thoughtful nature are very much on display as Wooden, at the age of 90, sits before an intimate audience and presents his "Pyramid of Success." In Wooden's system, attributes such as friendship, initiative, poise, and confidence all build upon each other to create the pinnacle of "great competitive success." Wooden, speaking in a gentle and articulate manner, offers anecdotes from his decades of coaching, and punctuates his lessons with dramatic vintage game clips showing some of the great players he coached. Appearing in interviews to speak of how much they learned from Wooden are Phil Jackson, Bill Walton, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. In an age when college basketball coaches are often in the public eye for their atrocious behavior, Wooden's thoughtful manner and gentle humor are all the more remarkable. Besides imparting lessons for ballplayers (and others), this is an insightful look at Wooden's remarkable personality.--Robert J. McNamara』

Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Stewie Review) 『Pretty funny! My wife loves Stewie on her desk. BUT, the USB cord is *way* too short!! The USB cord is less than 2 feet long, so limits where you can place Stewie. USB cord needs to be at least 6 feet long -- was very surprised how short it was.』
(Beware Mac users!) 『Stu needs to load a Windows-only driver to animate, or eminate, or do anything at all. Maybe someday I'll get a PC to go along with him!』
(Very good) 『My son love it, but I have a problem with my windows XP about it. When I run the program it gives error about like "0.00 ...." I found, it gives error because of windows regional settings, fix it. It very funny now...........』

Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (This is not a toy, but it's fun anyway) 『I'm not sure why I'm being asked to rank a tie as a toy except the it is a perfect gift for some of those grownup guys that are still boys at heart. The lamp does indeed light up causing grins and the desire to show everyone else what it can do. (At least it's not a frog or a spider!) The purchase arrived in a very timely manner and was presented very nicely in its own tie box ready for wrapping as an early Christmas present. I would recommed this present for any man who still likes being a kid.』 『A Christmas Story Movie LEG LAMP Light Up NECK TIE. Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Very satisfied) 『This item is wonderful, i wore it with my halloween costume and it made me feel great』
(runs to big) 『I have small hips and I went exactly by the products sizing and the shaper was too big... it doesn't do anything for me and I couldn't return it so be carful』
(Good control but...) 『I was impressed with how the waistshaper was able to hold my tummy in. Unfortunately the diamond patterns showed through my wedding dress, so I returned it.』
(Boning a little uncomfortable) 『I liked this item better when I removed the front 'boning' which is flexible metal, but then, I bought this because I had abdominal surgery and need compression for the permanent hernia, so I have to wear something all the time. It still has good shaping without the boning.』
(Now it is gone !!) 『Flexees Women's Firm Control Waistshaper Brief #3939 The night of the big party arrived and everything was in readyness except my figure. I slipped in to my new Flexees Control Brief and felt it's compression right away. After adjusting things my figure looked great especially under my new strapless dress.
The Flesees stayed in place till the evening was over and after a very few minutes you did not even know it was on. It gave me the look that gave me confidence and a lot of compliments all night long. Other items I have tried do not come close to doing the great job that my new Flexees did.
Marie』 『Create curves with the help of the Flexees long torso waistshaper. Its easy to wear pull-on style provides firm control from the torso to the hips and it has slimming control panels at the front and back.』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Love it!) 『This bra is comfy and my son loves to look at the designs. My only complaint is that the eyehooks don't really stay on at night, which can cause a little mess if you leak out and your nursing pad has moved. But, I love it so much I will be ordering more!』
(another purchase) 『I purchase this bra after my twins were born and it held up just great. Two years later with my new born I was looking for a bra that would provide me with the support I need since I wear a size 38DDD. This time I purchased 2. The cotton is great since it does not hold in moisture and irrtate my nipples making breastfeeding painful.』
(Goddess Nursing Bra) 『As a Plus Size Woman without the Plus Size Cup size (I'm a 46B) it is very difficult and almost impossible to find bras normally and it was even harder when I started shopping for nursing bras. I wanted something without underwires yet with good support for when my milk comes in after delivery. I started wearing this the day after it came and this bra has all the features I was looking for. It is comfortable enough to sleep in in and I can open and close the cups easily one handed. I also liked the added bonus of the grafics designed for the babies benfit. The price was right too. I would recommend this nursing bra to anyone.』
(nursing bra) 『A decent bra for a fuller figure; has nice wide straps that don't dig in. Also has three hooks for hooking up the cup; however they are not as easy to work with as some of the plastic hooks most nursing bras have. This is not a seamless bra, so it has stitching across the cup which was a little uncomfortable for me. For the money, you can go to Walmart and get their brand of nursing bra for about 1/3 of the price.』
(Great) 『Pros: great price, true to size, well built, comfortable Cons: the straps are very wide so much so that they end up showing on regular t-shirts, the degigned area seems to stretch out a little after some wear and tear, however it doesn't really affect the bra, the hook for feeding is like the back of a bra so it does require 2 hands to fasten unlike other ones that can be done one handed, only a slight inconvenience though.
all around a very comfortable bra, i recomend for everyday use, but not the sexiest thing around.』 『Boasting a playful print design, intended to keep babies visually stimulated while nursing, this bra offers a great maternity design that goes up to larger back sizes.』
『This is a vinyl decal that can be applied to just about any smooth surface. These decals are made from the highest quality vinyl to give you many years of use without fading or peeling. Detailed application instructions are included.』

A lot of the illustrations in the book are from Wizards of the Coast. Francis Tsai is a concept artist and you can find his work on teamgt.com.
This book is not really on art techniques, there are no step-by-step tutorials to follow along. It's one that gives ideas to think about when trying to come up with a character.
That being said, the writeup for the book is pretty good. It gives a lot of ideas on things that can be changed or added to enhance the characters. It can be on costume design, colour combination, using silhouettes, thinking like the character itself, etc. All come with nice illustrated paintings as examples.
This book is more of a resource book that's great when brainstorming for ideas.
If you're looking for techniques, check out ImagineFX's book called Fantasy Workshop: Mastering Digital Painting Techniques.
There are more pictures of the book on my blog. Just visit my Amazon profile for the link.』
(Technique) 『It's difficult to find a book that specifically addresses the actual techniques of illustration and one that gives a step-by-step tutorial on how to work with the paints and materials in fantasy work. This book doesn't provide that and glosses over technique. It concentrates more on material for you and your imagination to draw from when creating fantasy characters. If you know technique and are looking for ideas, this book will work for you. Still waiting for the book that gives practical info I can use regarding applied technqiue.』
(Taking Your Art to the Next Level) 『If you're interested in improving your artistic abilities from someone who really knows what they're doing, get this book.
The author does a fantastic job of explaining how drawing is not just a creative process, but also a thoughtful and deliberate one. He gives great expert tips and hints on how to convey the feeling and mood of the character you're developing. Some of the tricks include how to focus attention through detail or lighting; how to leverage other elements in the artwork such as secondary characters or scenes to build the story around the main character; how powerful something as simple as eye contact can be. They are all tricks that make intuitive sense once you're aware of them, but probably wouldn't have occurred to you before.
In sum, Tsai's book and tips can have a transformative effect on your artwork. Your art can go from being just a picture on a page to something that creates the maximum visual and emotional impact on the viewer that you intended. It's worth it!』
(Like no other) 『I've read many fantasy drawing books, most of which only teach you archetypes in western fantasy. this book is very useful for helping you come up with your own concepts and applying visual techniques to better get your point across. highly recommended even if you aren't drawing elves or dwarves.』
(Well written and worth it) 『First off, there's two pieces of advice to any aspiring artist/illustrator:
1. "Wanna be a good artist!? Draw! Wishing won't make it happen!" - paraphrasing R. Crumb
-and-
2. Practice, practice, practice...
There, that's it. Anything else from art school to books like this are optional.
So why, especially during a tight financial time, did I eagerly plunk down US$20 for this?
Because it is well written, full of good illustrations by some artists I really like - and - full of good and creative and inspiring advice. I'm a hobby illustrator, although some of my political cartoons have been published (and I mean for $) but am always striving to improve my skills and my favorite subjects are of course in the fantasy/scifi areas.
I've skipped a lot of the recent books, considering them too juvenile, such as the MangaMania series, though those are nice. My other favs are the "Drawing and Painting Fantasy Figures", "Drawing and Painting Fantasy Worlds" and the classic "Encyclopedia of Fantasy and Sci-Fi art techniques".』 『Presents 100 exciting and ingenious ways to design and draw better fantasy figures--from developing characters to adding costumes, props and backdrops. You don't start with the stupid oval that you fill in with features. You start with the features and then work out from the center. Crazy cool! I have taught drawing classes using the ideas and techniques found in this book and the students (adults) amaze themselves! By far the best portrait book I have found.』
(Head Review) 『The item is a text needed for an online class I am taking. It's only been 4 weeks and I have already learned so much. It was a good investment and I will use it for many years to come. It is an excellent resource for head drawing.』
(Drawing The Head) 『This book is extermely well written and very easy to understand. It can be used by the beginner as well as the professional. The author gives many useful tips that can be applied to many phases of art work』
(The best portrait drawing book) 『Excellent book with beautiful examples, all very well executed. This is not one of those books where the author is mostly showing off his skill and you get the feeling you wasted your money on something that didn't fulfill its promise. This book really teaches you, step by step, how to draw portraits. Starting with explanations about the materials you'll need, how to use them and keep them intact. From basic drawing to fully finished portrait and even beyond that, like mixing different portraits together or mixing animals photograpy with real-life portrait drawings.
If you are an artist looking for a REAL portrait drawing book, this is your best choice. It has everything.』
(Drawing faces) 『Very good book! Drawing the head is not very difficult but it requires more precision especially when drawing a real person』 『In this innovative guide, master art instructor William Maughan demonstrates how to create a realistic human likeness by using the classic and highly accurate modeling technique of chiaroscuro (Italian for "light and dark") developed by Leonardo da Vinci during the High Renaissance. Maughan first introduces readers to the basics of this centuries-old technique, showing how to analyze form, light, and shadow; use dark pencil, white pencil, and toned paper to create a full range of values; use the elements of design to enhance a likeness; and capture a sitter's gestures and proportions. He then demonstrates, step by step, how to draw each facial feature, develop visual awareness, and render the head in color with soft pastels.』

(I love my copy!) 『I love my copy of this book. It makes quite a lot of sense, in my opinion.. And Enoch is quoted throughout the bible... I, personally, believe a lot of it, but it's definitely not for everyone. I like reading extra biblical literature. I never take offense to it, well, no more than I would the Left Behind Series... If you take it with a grain of salt, it's a good read. Definitely not for those that like getting their knickers in a twist over religious beliefs... Just take it as what it is&you'll get some kind of enjoyment out of it!』
(A false prophet wrote this book) 『"Beware of false prophets" is repeated endlessly in the New Testament. This book and its author is a good example of why. The book is filled with New Age references and references to false religion, using such terms as "karma" for example. Any Christian should seriously beware of this book. I myself am sorry I spent money buying it.』
(Great info. that no one else will tell you!) 『This is a wonderful book! Great info. that no one else will tell you. It really opened my eyes. If you are ready to go to the next level then you should read this book.』
(Excellent!) 『I loved this book and bought it for 8 other people. Unfortunately some out there in there superiority complex will tear this book apart but as they say The Truth hurts and none get more angry and arrogant than those who are faced with it. Great book a must read for anyone interested in Angels.』 『Did rebel angels take on human bodies to fulfill their lust for the "daughters of men"? Did these fallen angels teach men to build weapons of war?
That is the premise of the Book of Enoch, a text cherished by the Essenes, early Jews and Christians but later condemned by both rabbis and Church Fathers. The book was denounced, banned and "lost" for over a thousand years-until in 1773, a Scottish explorer discovered three copies in Ethiopia.
Elizabeth Clare Prophet examines the controversy surrounding this book and sheds new light on Enoch's forbidden mysteries. She demonstrates that Jesus and the apostles studied the Book of Enoch and tells why Church Fathers suppressed its teaching that angels could incarnate in human bodies. Contains all the Enoch texts, including the Book of Enoch, and biblical parallels.
Fallen Angels and the Origins of Evil takes you back to the primordial drama of Good and Evil, when the first hint of corruption entered a pristine world-earth.

Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (WAY OVERPRICED) 『My 5 year old loves this toy. We bought ours at Wal-Mart for $5.00, NOT $45. That is a crazy price for this 4" tall figure. Wait until after Christmas. I've noticed that things usually seen at reasonable prices have been jacked up over the holidays. It is a lot of fun for my son and my 8 year old also wants one but he recognizes that we'll have to wait to find one that's affordable. I gave it four stars because they love it but this price is ridiculous.』

So I can't really answer the questions of how much fun, educational, durable it is. I believe my nephew who is 8 yrs old will enjoy this very much.』
(AWESOME BUMBLEBEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) 『THIS IS SWEET! UNLIKE THE OTHER BUMBLEBEE'S OF REVENGE OF THE FALLEN RIPOFFS THIS IS WAY BETTER THAN ANY BUMBLEBEE! SAM WITWICKY IS ALSO FUN TO PLAY WITH I ALSO RECOMMEND Transformers Movie 2 Human Alliance - Sideswipe w/ Sergeant Epps AND Transformers Movie 2 Human Alliance - Autobot Skids with Mikaela!!!!!!!』
(Fun toy but not durable - lasted two weeks) 『My 5-year-old son received this Transformer as a gift, and he was thrilled with it, until it snapped in half near the back of a front fender (after only two weeks of play time). Now the toy is unusable. We are very disappointed, as he loved playing with Bumblebee and Sam. My son has lots of other Transformers, and he does not play roughly with them. It's a shame that this toy didn't last long, given that it is so expensive.』

First off, Bee is a great Transformer, he's my fave, he's adorable. So when I got this Human Alliance, I was blown away by the accurate detail...WOAH. They really got it right with this one. The design is right down to the tee compared to the movie. I love it! Players will love pretending to be one of the various characters in the show, such as the fiery 12-year-old leader "Dan" or the wise "Marucho," and they gain a deeper understanding of the cards and warriors as they play.
The Starter Pack includes instructions, making it an ideal way for newbies to get started with this fun and exciting game. The game itself is fairly straightforward, but if your child has never played before, you might have to help him or her to understand the rules -- after reading and understanding them yourself. While some of the plastic Bakugan pieces are small and could easily get lost, others, like the Bakugan Deka, are as big as a softball.
The Starter Pack comes with three Bakugan and three cards -- perfect for kids who are new to the game and who want to try it out. The illustrated instructions are easy to follow.
Exciting Magnetic Action The Bakugan come in lots of colors and varieties that make them fun to collect and trade. Most of them are pocket-sized and easy for your child to carry around and bring over to their friend's houses. Having a magnet that activates the warriors is a clever idea that adds excitement to the game. The Bakugan Launcher (sold separately) is a great accessory, with three shooting modes ("curve," "angle, and "distance"), but it doesn't come with any instructions.
Room for the Imagination We like that this that this game combines skill (aiming your Bakugan) with strategy (placement of the cards). We also enjoyed the way the warriors pop open on the magnetic cards -- although sometimes they do it even when they don't land on the cards. Being unfamiliar with the TV show, we felt a little lost at first in the world of Bakugan. But with the help of the colorful, animated Bakugan Web site, we got the gist of what the game is about and how to play. Our attempts to fire the launcher proved somewhat difficult and instructions would have helped. But the launcher isn't necessary. Kids can simply roll the Bakugan like marbles for a fun and action-packed game with their friends.
