『Imax Power IMP500 3G 3Gs iPhone&2nd Generation iTouch External Backup Battery
The product is exactly what I needed. The size and ease of use is so great. I had opportunity to talk to the people at Imax Power regarding an issue and the customer service was so personal and the response time was immediate. I traveled coast to coast with this charger for my iPhone 3Gs 32 and watched movies and TV shows almost the whole time with the security that I had this little jewel close by. The LED lighting system and the on-off capability make it so practical. It's so great that it doesn't just give you power, it recharges your device...multiple times before recharging the pak itself. I had actually ordered and returned a couple of battery chargers made by well known Apple support companies, but found nothing I was happy with until Imax! Reliable product, reliable customer support!!! I'm concerned about the fellow who gave it only one star without having used or seen the product, particularly when, in one review, he gave another similar product 5 stars because it helps him get around when he is "drunk."』

『Ok, so I bought this from the manufacturers own site and they asked me to leave a review here on Amazon. I waited a month so that I could give a better review.

I must say that I like it so far. It is very portable and easy to use. I have carried it to school with me and I can plug my iphone into it and stick them both in my inside coat pocket without much bulk since the cord that comes with the device is a retractable rope type cord rather than a basic plastic coated one which allows me to easily lay the battery pack against the back of the iphone merely doubling the thickness of the iphone. This isn't bad at all considering how much extra battery time you get.
It is very easy to take with you anywhere and so long as you keep track of the separate AC plug end you won't have any problems with it.

The Battery Pack has an On/Off button that must be held down for 2-3 seconds to turn it on or off so you will not accidentally activate it while it is stored away. So no slow drain of power that you didn't count on.

The cord system is both excellent and a little confusing. It comes with a retractable rope like cord with different tips that you can put on the ends depending on the device you are using. Overall it is a great design, though the USB tip plugs into the batt pack when you charge a device but when you go to charge the batt pack you have to reverse the cord and plug the USB tip into the AC plug end. It isn't really a problem or anything it just seems a little strange, but I trust there was some design reason for it. Being able to use the same cord for multiple devices is nice but it does mean that you have different tips that you have to keep track of. However you only really need to worry about that if you are carrying multiple devices on you, but most of us are not doing that I presume so the average customer should be ok with the tips that they need to use.

I had just switched from my old Motorola KRZR to my new Iphone show I decided to use the mini USB tip that comes with the Batt Pack to charge my old KRZR as a test. For some reason it wouldn't work and would actually shut off the BAtt Pack. This may be a result of the phone as I was experiencing other odd problems with it prompting me to get a new phone.

I have experienced no problems with my Battery Pack when I use it with my iphone.

If you are looking for a portable battery device for your iphone I recommend this one!

『When I decided to take a trip to India, I started to look for a way to charge my iPhone 3GS on the long flight, as well protect my iPhone from possible power surges that could damage my iPhone, if I were to plug it directly into an Indian outlet. After doing some research on Amazon, the IMP500 seemed to fit the bill. So far, I haven't had any problems with the unit. It charges my iphone 3GS as advertised, and it seems to have a rather large capacity because I've charged my iPhone twice and there appears to be no change in the battery meter indicator. However, I think that the meter could be more legible. I like the form factor, and the case looks attractive. The on/off button is a nice feature so that the unit can keep its charge. Finally, the fact that so many different adaptor tips were included was very nice. All in all, a rather good unit that serves my purposes well.』

『I haven't yet used the product but after the emails and phone calls i just got I think i will be pleased. I ordered this and had a question about the "free gift." I emailed the company, 10 mins later got an email re: the question then received a phone call about 20 mins later. The gentleman was very helpful and answered my questions without hesitation. I leave for an overseas trip soon and I will let you know how the product holds up but right now I am very impressed. I love companies that stand behind their product.』

『I purchased this product in April 2009 directly from the Imaxpower website. It is so handy to have for keeping my iPod touch charged up. I have taken my iPod on long business trips with me and have been able to watch videos and movies for 4+ hour flights with several layovers in between without ever losing power.

The customer service for this company is outstanding! Two weeks ago, for some mysterious reason, the battery pack stopped transferring a charge to my iPod. I contacted customer service - on a Saturday night no less - and received a reply within 30 minutes! They exchanged my IMP500 for a new one with no questions asked. I mailed my defective battery back on a Tuesday afternoon and had a new one in my hands by Saturday morning! Keep in mind that I live in Northern Wisconsin and had to mail it all the way to southern California. The quick turnaround made my jaw drop!

For the one week when I was without my IMP500 did I fully realize how amazing this product is! It is SO nice to not have to be tethered to a computer every time I need to charge my iPod. I never realized, either, how short the actual battery life on the iPod is all by itself. I've become spoiled by my IMP500! I'm used to using battery draining functions on my iPod like video watching, web surfing, email without ever having to worry about running out of battery life thanks to the IMP500!』

『I give three stars because I think the product would probably work well for some applications, but for my application (running while streaming music through a Droid phone) it gets one star.

The receiver is behind the head, which seems like a nice way to keep it out of the way. But if the Bluetooth device is in front of me, as it would be if I'm running and holding it, or if it is clipped to my waistband or in a pocket, the connection is choppy. A choppy connection is essentially useless for music streaming. I'm returning the product. I may get something else later, but for now I'll continue using my iPod headphones.』

『I read a lot of information about this particular product. I needed a wireless headphone, but this one was a bad choice.
It did not set up as easily as some said, and it continually breaks connection when I finally did get it to work. Only works on my iPod. Would not work on my iMac in my office where I needed it. It would be fine on the iPod, but the disconnection makes listening to music frustrating. I don't even use it now.
The design of the headphones where not as pictured on the information either. It did not have the red on it which made me think that I received something less that what I ordered. Very disappointed and will probably not order technology online again.』

『Awesome product. If you are a workout fiend who enjoys doing more than just wandering on the treadmill or doing 4X8 bicep curls then you've probably more than once had your headphones and ipod (etc) give you fits whilst doing box jumps, clean, snatch, KBs, or any other fitness exercise. No more for me. I had given up for the last six months after having an ipod stolen twice in one month. When I got my new DROID phone (shameless plug for great phone) I figured I would try something new. Awesome. I can put my phone in the corner of the gym, but not somewhere where it will get stolen (duh) and get my Crossfit etc. on. As long as you don't wander too far you can rock out and do some real work with out having to listen to the Britney spears or Elvis Pressley that the gym staff seems to think is great for working out. I can say the only problem I have is my huge head 7 3/4 is pretty big hat and it streches these things. Motorola needs to suck it up and make two sizes, maybe M and F. In the mean time just focus that discomfort to your workout. If youare comfortable working out you aren't working out anyways.』

『Easy to set-up and use. Easily hooked into the network and worked seamlessly with my iphone. As to the comments about lack of instructions, it is a scale, not a computer. This is on the cutting edge of what is developing with telemedicine, with wireless BP cuffs, glucose meters and activity meters, like the Phillips and GRUVE products.』

『I recently purchased this scale on Amazon and I've been very happy with it -- not only with the scale itself and the web-based interface for tracking progress, but also with the team behind it. Whenever I have come across issues with the web-based interface (to be expected as its a new product), members of the team respond to my issues via their online forum almost immediately and make changes almost immediately. That, to me, is what makes this a great product instead of a good product -- a responsive team that listens and engages in dialog with the customers. BTW, the website works as advertised, but there were small little things that bothered me. Other quick things:

- The process of connecting the scale to my password-protected wireless network was amazingly simple. If you've had problems connecting webcams, etc. to your wireless net, don't let that stop you from trying this. It was really smooth and easy.

- The automatic user recognition is great. It's nice that I don't have to select user1, user2, etc. by tapping on the scale.

- I don't use the iphone app much, but I love that it's there and will probably use it more once I get closer to reaching my goals. It's a great thing to look at before walking into a donut shop. :-)

- It is a beautiful device. I love great design and I think great design should be rewarded.

I guess you can consider me a fan and I hope they will make more connected products in the future.

(A scale that keeps getting better and better)
『The Withings Wi-Fi scale is a fascinating step forward in the use of Wi-Fi to share information for the consumer's benefit.

I purchased my scale from the Withings web site but it was shipped from their U.S. Amazon store. It appears to be one of the first scales to ship within the US as I received it in early October 2009.

After the scale is configured for your Wi-Fi network, and the account on the server is set up, the process of weighing goes like this: Step on the scale. The scale will fluctuate for a moment while adjusting to your weight. After a few moments, the scale should accept a weight, and then display a bar moving across the display from left to right as the data is uploaded to the server. When the bar display is complete, the scale then displays your Body Fat % and then displays your BMI. If the scale has a problem thinking that the person on the scale is not centered, there will appear an arrow in one of the corners where it believes there is too much weight and it would like you to adjust your weight away from that corner.

The scale is a pretty straightforward device and will not require any in-depth learning but some users might desire a user's manual as there is none beyond the slip of paper that instructs you how to insert the batteries. A pdf document that a user could download would be a great addition for those that would like to better understand what the capabilities are for the device and how they can make best use of the product. After all, this scale is not a cheap scale and most users who purchase it will be technically minded with curious wonderings beyond what is obvious. Withings does have an online forum for ongoing discussion and if you have a question, visiting the forums helps as there are always other users who are experiencing the same issues or have found an answer for something you may come up against.

The scale has the ability to recognize more than one user. There is an algorithm that the server uses to determine which user is on the scale as it expects each user to have a significantly different weight and/or body fat % composition than other users. If it can not detect which user is on the scale from 2 different users, the scale will show an arrow so that by adjusting the users balance on the scale, the user can indicate which user they are. If there are 3 or more users using the scale, this process will not work and the users must each 'claim' or 'refuse' the weight on the web site for their tracking. Unfortunately, having a single user claim that weight will not remove it from the other user's records and each other user must also remove the 'unknown user' weight.

Because I have an iPhone, I was intrigued by how I (or others that I allow) could watch my weight change and body fat changes over time. It is impressive how quickly the iPhone receives the weighing data and Withings has been smart to use a badge on the WiScale application to notify the user that new data has been received. I have not noticed any Alerts yet on the iPhone but they are aware of that capability given that the preference exists within the iPhone settings.

For the techies that like to take things to the next level, there is a capability to download a CSV delimited file containing your weighing history. The file is perfectly formatted to slide right into your Excel program.

There are a couple of things that I expect to see happen as Withings moves to version 2 of their software. Currently, there is no ability to upload data to the server so as to benefit from having historical data that you have accumulated prior to your Withings scale purchase. Manually entering historical data is limited in that the server does not accept data with the precision similar to what the scale records. Withings says that this will be fixed in a future update.

A feature that is missing is the ability to indicate that the user is an athlete and that the Body Fat should be analyzed with that significant difference in mind. Many users who choose a scale such as this might well be expecting this recognition by the software.

The Basal Metabolic Rate would also be a nice feature that may be included at a later time but is not currently calculated or shown.

Withings Scale Pros:

Withings Scale Cons:

Not the cheapest product that does this kind of analysis but one of the more innovative.

Executive bottom line: The scale has some fun potential but it should be recognized that technology does not necessarily bring about increased accuracy. I've rated this scale with 5 stars because it is what it appears to be, the design is beautiful and the scale uses technology in innovative ways. The scale has potential for becoming an an awesome product as Withings has the capability to enhance its current capabilities easily. Let's hope they continue to give us even more as time go on.』

『I've been extremely happy with this product! With the unit fully charged, it will take my iPhone 3G from about 1/4 charge to a full charge in about 45 minutes. It's an extremely simple design. It has a mini-USB connector on the bottom labeled IN which is where you plug it in to charge, and then a full-sized USB connector labeled OUT on the top where you connect your device's USB cable. The IN port has an LED indicator which is RED while the unit is charging and GREEN once it's fully charged. On the face of the unit near the "copper top" there's another indicator light that is GREEN while charging your iPhone/Blackberry/RAZR and RED once charging is complete and the unit is drained.

『First- I'm using this in the kitchen as an AM/FM radio as much as a charger/player of music for iphone (so I can't speak to its value as an alarm clock), and I've had it for about a month now, using it daily. It replaced an older high quality radio with the bonus of being an accessory for the phone.

I think it is just about perfect. Important to me is radio reception and Sony quality and AM&FM antenna ensure it is great (check my other reviews- they're largely for radios). I listen to a mix of NPR (radio but also streaming and podcasts off iphone) and music and sound is perfectly good/loud enough for kitchen&adjacent dining room. Love how the remote integrates with iphone controls. Tiny footprint takes up little space on counter. Big display of time with dimming options make it visible from a distance and can serve as a nightlight if you'd like.

Cons: echoing others, the slide-out charging tray is slick but seems a bit flimsy. The remote isn't fully functional unless iphone is in ipod mode (unless I'm missing something). A few of the controls (like presets) are on the back, out of site. This probably works well for bedside alarm clock but not for kitchen counter. It is a bit pricy but you get what you pay for. The external AM&FM antenna are great but make for a cord mess.』

『This is by far the best alarm clock I've ever had. It's nice and small as not to waste any more real estate on your night stand than necessary. It has a remote! The remote really does come in handy for controlling the Ipod/Radio/Vol etc, considering I intentionally make the alarm hard to reach so that I don't just keep pressing snooze. It has an actual antenna, like the ones you get with stereo systems and such, so it picks up stations really well. It has a digital tuner, so you can actually see which station it's on as opposed to guessing if the line is between this station and that. Furthermore it allows up to 20 presets, so you can store all your favorite stations and cycle through them with the remote. It automatically sets the time and updates it when daylight savings takes effect. It lets you set your alarms for only weekdays, weekends, or both so if you only want a alarm for work then you can do so Mon-Fri. Also, when setting up the alarm to wake to radio for instance it allows you to specify which preset to wake to and at what volume to play it at. Overall just an amazing alarm clock. My one gripe, which for most people will probably not be an issue is that the power cord has a transformer on the end of it and it is not detachable from the unit, this presents a problem if your nightstand has a hole in it designed to feed the cables through so that it looks nice, since the transformer is too large to fit through nearly any cable management hole, my night stand has a hutch on it so I can't just let it hang off the back, rather I have to loop it around the front in a very awkward and messy looking configuration. With that said, I still love it, and I'm sure many people don't have a hutch on there nightstand so this likely won't be an issue.』

『I was looking for a small clock radio that could also play an iPod. This SONY ICF-C7IP fit the bill almost perfectly. My main beef with it is that it's not especially intuitive to use. And, the buttons along the side and back of the unit are too discreet and easily pressed when holding it to set the alarm, causing me to do stuff I didn't mean to do. Without a bright light, you can't see what their functions are.

Being able to program 2 different alarm times AND separate weekend times are terrific features. I also love the automatic time set and daylight savings time adjustment. No more worrying about forgetting to change the clock twice a year.

Unlike some reviewers, I don't find the brightness of the clock to be too bright. I keep it on its dimmest setting and that's perfect.

Given the size of the unit, the sound is decent. I didn't really expect much from it in terms of high fidelity and don't plan on listening to my iPod through it much. Its main use is to be able to wake up to music or podcasts that I've chosen. I'm not even that worried about its ability to pick up FM stations, though it does that reasonably well. Without an AM antenna hooked up, I can't receive any AM stations. That's a total non issue for me, as I never listen to AM these days.

So far, I've found that my 3rd generation 30GB iPod, 5th generation 80GB iPod, new 160GB iPod, and 2nd generation iPod Touch all work perfectly in the dock and with the supplied remote.

In all, once I get accustomed to the placement of the buttons and how to set the alarm, it will serve my needs just fine.』

『For the record, this game is first rate. Sadly, my expectations for this particular Brain Quest product were not met. I suspect 8 year olds will find the DVD game more challenging than most 10 year olds. The depth/range of questions asked would offer more of a challenge had the game been grade specific, such as other Brain Quest products. That being said, the game is enjoyable and family friendly. Have fun learning, just not much of a challenge.』

『I bought this DVD game for my boys and me to play together. Great family game. Not only are there questions for my school aged children, but there are questions for parents as well. Often times in trivia type games, families can't play well together because the questions are either too hard for kids or too easy for adults. The parent questions are challenging for adults and the kid questions are age appropriate.
There are also short "video games" embedded in the game. They are not of the caliber one would expect on the newest game consoles, or PC games, but they are interesting enough that my boys fought over the remote when they came around.
Giving this game 4 stars instead of 5 because on one question the audio and the video didn't sync up, the question on the screen was different from the question stated on the audio track. Also one "video game" was impossible to control with the remote as shown on screen.
Overall an entertaining way to spend 30 minutes as a family.』

Another great book, but this time it has been especially helpful for me.

First I solved a vexing printer problem caused by the loss of the AppleTalk software. It
was as if David Pogue had me in mind when he wrote the "troubleshooting moment" on page
548. Within five minutes I was again using my rock solid LaserJet 5M. So huge and so easy once
you read his clear explanations.

Then on to my Mail Utility problem. And sure enough, there was an initial discussion which lead
me to an unexpected section of the book that solved that issue.

Now I'm about to tackle my Safari 4.0.3 dissatisfactions, but want to let others know just how much
this book returns an element of FUN to the whole Mac experience.

It seems this has become a bipolar experience - first Apple releases a new OS with little support and
then Pogue provides the missing manual explaining what it is all about. This works for me.』

『This is a great book with a ton of info on most of Snow Leopard. I'm an experienced Mac user, and was initially worried that the book might be a little too introductory for me, but it's not. I jumped to SL from Tiger so I was looking for something to give details on the new features. In that respect, the book delivers. It also gives all sorts of tips for almost every program included in OS X. I was a little disappointed that it didn't include coverage of iPhoto (IMO because he wants to sell iPhoto Missing Manual books), but beyond that it's pretty comprehensive. Perhaps a little too comprehensive actually; he includes a Unix crash course chapter that IMO is likely to give users just enough rope to hang themselves. But overall it's a solid title that I'm glad to have on my shelf.』

『As a computer scientist, I have read a plethora of programming books that attempt to teach you a particular framework, language, or programming technique. "Beginning iPhone 3 Development: Exploring the iPhone SDK" far surpasses them all in regards to ease of information consumption. I tried many times to learn iPhone development, but I could never find the right book, tutorial, or site to help me get started. Most of Apple's documentation is great for the advanced iPhone programmer, but they are quite lacking when it comes to users who are just coming to the platform. This book was just what I needed to propel me into iPhone development.

The book explains everything very well, and if there is a concept that they are not yet ready to introduce, or if it is out of the scope of the book, they make sure to inform you of such skips AND provide you resources that will assist you in discovering that particular part of the technology.

All-in-all this has been a wonderful book that is easy to read and easy to follow. They also offer up-to-date source code at their forums in case you are having trouble or if there is an error in the book. You can even submit corrections/errata for the next edition!

If you are considering moving to the iPhone platform, I would highly suggest this book to you.』

『If you intend on learning iPhone development, then go ahead and buy this book without thinking twice. It covers all the basic aspects of iPhone development through a very complete series of examples, it gives you a lot of valuable information and it is well written and easy to follow

In a word: raccomended』

(Excellent Beginners iPhone Book, assumes Objective-C knowledge, some errors in sample code)
『Before you buy a programming book you should learns what's its intended audience and you should read the reviews to know if it's a proper fit to your background. The book assumes no prior knowledge of Java or C++ like some competing iPhone development books, but it does assume that you already know Objective-C. In my case, I hadn't worked in any flavor of C since college.

Therefore, I read Stephen G. Kochan's excellent "Programming in Objective-C 2.0" Programming in Objective-C 2.0 (2nd Edition) before starting with this book and I had no problems. Although I took many C and Unix courses in college (many moons ago) my programming experience is mostly with VBA and databases on Windows PC's, so if I was able to understand the material, so should many of you with experience in more advanced development languages such as Java or C++. Note that Kochan's book is intended, as an introductory programming book, and it does not assume any previous programming knowledge of any kind, including "C". If you were a raw beginner in computer programming, I would strongly recommend Kochan's book before you try your hand at this one.

I started reading the first edition and I switched to this one when it was published. This edition corrects many of the typos and sample code errors from the first edition but unfortunately it also introduces some new ones of its own. For the first edition, the authors did an excellent job publishing errata on their website but for this edition none has been published as of this writing. I suspect the author is very busy working on other iPhone development books he has coming out in the near future. Still, I was able to use common sense to work around some of the minor errors in this edition. Most programming books I've seen in my career have errors of some sort and you should always lookup the errata from the publisher's web sites. Having read both editions, I believe the authors seemed to have done a good job updating their samples to SDK 3 conventions.

Finally, other reviewers have criticized this book for not covering some details. As the title states, this is a "Beginning" book. When you finish reading this and you want to learn more you should read the Apple documentation or other iPhone sub-topic specific books. I look forward to reading the author's upcoming "More iPhone 3 Development: Tackling iPhone SDK 3". The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because of the remaining errors in the sample code and the lack of errata (as of this writing) for this edition.』

『This book is good for explaining the basics of the Objective-C language. A number of books out there assume that you already have this knowledge and jump directly into examples. I'm glad I bought this book.』

(Much more than an Excellent Book!)
『I graduated as a mechanical engineer in 06' and during that time took one class on C programming. Being that it was 8 years ago and I guess you could say I was a beginner as a programmer. I was looking for a book on Objective-C back in December of '08 and after a lot of research ended up choosing this book. At the time I had read numerous good things about the book but I was unprepared for what I was actually getting. Learning computer programming is tough but this book is an excellent step by step guide to taking you comfortably from a beginner to someone who is comfortable with the Objective-C language. I started the book in March of this year and soon after was searching for answers to the exercises in Google. I ended up finding the authors forum for the book which has been worth ten times the price of the book and it is all free. There are numerous sections where you can get the answers to exercises, ask for help, make suggestions, help other etc. The really great part is the authors involvement. I have been a member since April and have over 100 posts on the site as I came across things I had further questions on. I would say at least 80% of the time the author was the one who responded and in less then 24 hours and most times less than 12 hours. Steve has a real passion for teaching and in my opinion has a real knack for doing so.

I just finished the book today. My approach was probably more thorough than most. I first read the chapter, then reread it taking notes and then completed the exercises at the end of each chapter I also completed all of the program examples in the chapters. There are claims in the reviews that you can get through this book in 3 weeks which I find awfully hard to believe. I spent on average 7-10 a week on the book and it took me eight months to complete it. I also took advantage of the live lessons which are available online. There is a series of 16 lessons which walk you through the book. The author guides you through the book using the material from the book and there is also additional information. Conveniently it was close to the time I was finishing the book and served as a great review of what I had learned.

While waiting for this book I picked up a copy of Learn C on the Mac and read through it. I will say that this book helped refresh my memory and did give me a good head start. I would read this again first if I had to do it over again. I am not saying that you need to learn C first I am just saying having a base knowledge didn't hurt me.

All in all I really can't say enough about the author, the forum, the book and the community of people who are behind this book. If you are looking for a way to learn about Objective-C and you don't choose this book I think you are making a big mistake. I really wish that Steve had a book on iPhone programming. I only hope that my next steps are met with as much support and dedication as I have received from Steve. Thanks Steve!』

『I bought this book because I wanted to start writing Mac Applications (maybe iphone apps down the road but not right now). I come from a background in web languages (css, html, MySql, PHP) and started programming in ActionScript many years ago. If you have done any programming in the past then you should totally be able to get through this book with ease. Kochan explains aspects of the language very clearly and if you have questions he still responds to people on the book's forum site. Overall, very happy with the book. Got through it about a month and am now starting a book about Cocoa and then moving on the application design principals and then the various Mac Cores (point is that this book is probably not enough to make a 'real' application with an engaging interface and all the bells and whistles. 『I have two taken college courses in C++, and decided to try out Objective C. This author, and book, were highly recommended on many forums. I am very happy that I picked it up. It is a very good book (I am through Chapter 4), the language and examples are very simple to follow. The C++ books I own are not in the same league. If you want to learn Objective-C for iPhone or OS X programming, you would be hard pressed to find a book equal to this one.
Also, Stephen Kochan is hosting webcast classes of this book, which are equally awesome. This man knows his languages, and is also an astute teacher. Tough to find these days. Go with this author and you will accomplish your goals in a timely fashion.』

『As soon as the iPhone SDK was released most people that you spoke with said that it was a necessity to learn C/C++ before learning ObjectiveC. This never made sense to me and I didn't believe it. It was only Steve that said that it wasn't true. Objective C, while a superset of C, does not require you to learn C first. Steve's book does not require prior knowledge of other languages and teaches you step by step the necessities of the language. His WebCast series offered on [...] is a great way to actually listen to the author in a classroom (online) and watch him develop examples for the subject that he is discussing. He also allows for a short question/answer time during and after the class. He is very conscientious and monitors the forum on his web site and answers questions there to people that are reading his book and that take the class. I highly recommend both the book and the class.

『The Wifi USB connector was very hard to set up. Windows warned me that it is not a Microsoft compatible product, though it seems to work fine.

I spent about 3-4 hours trying to get it to connect to the internet. I had to create a network bridge and make sure it was set as an access point. The manual isn't very helpful, it tells you what should happen, but not what to do if it doesn't happen.

After the initial set-up, it works quite well with my Nintendo DS and Wii.』

『For a little bit more than a single-user MobileMe account you get 4 additional MobileMe accounts... these are "junior" accounts only in the sense that they have 5GB of storage vs. 20GB. Otherwise they're identical to the single-user MobileMe (and, yes, the primary account on the Family Pack still gets 20GB).

MobileMe has come a long way in the 8 years since its debuted and is finally delivering great value. If you have an iPhone, the Find Your Phone feature is worth it by itself. But there's tons of other stuff-- syncing, a great email service (with the best webmail interface out there), easy file sharing (with a free iPhone client for accessing your file), easy photo sharing, and more.

If you split the costs 5 ways this becomes very affordable and even more worth it.』

『With 4 Macs and 2 iPhones and 3 users, I don't know what I would do without it. It's made life soooo much easier with the synchronization capabilities. that alone is worth the renewal. I even have the synchronization happening on the single Windoze machine in the house -- and it works perfectly for us. Honestly, I don't use the email aspects of this, but I probably should. I did extensively use the iDisk features -- until my idiot IT people blocked it.

Some things I'd do....add more capabilities for Apple TV (I have 2). Have the ability to suck in Gmail/Hotmail into MobileMe mail (maybe it does???). Need an easier way to do "back to my Mac" -- having NAT issues, and I know they can engineer MobileMe to reduce some of this, like Go To My PC does.

Yes...it's pricey. But you get what you pay for, if you use those features. Sure, you can get them from Bill Gates and his followers, but they're a hassle to use and you need to play with 3rd party software, and it's simply a pain. That's why I got rid of all but 1 of the Windoze computers. I have spent less than 10 hours in the past year fiddling with software and setups. I used to spend 10 hours in a week with something that started erroring out with Vista.』

『I like the program becuase it allows me to be creative. I can make very professional looking web pages, or very simple pages. It allows me to add as many graphics as I would like and more. The only problem with the program is that it does not come with easy to follow instructions, and it is difficult to find how to use some of the advanced features. I think that more tutorials and videos on how sertain features work would make this an out standing porgram.』

『Everything about it is a 10 however, you do get a watermark on the screen that is a bit annoying but that can be fixed by spraying a very, very light mist of baby power on the inside of the Otter Box screen before you place the iPhone in it. Go to YouTube under Otter Box and you'll get many videos showing you how it's done. I have both the yellow one and the black one and they are equally cool and everyone who sees it, loves it.

The watermark was fixed on my first try so I'll still give this a 5 star rating, it a Hummer. And I must add that Amazon had the best price by far and the best service too.』

『Pictures would have you believe this a near mil-spec case, protecting your phone from shock, moisture and dirt. Not even close. Specifics...Once assembled around the phone, the unit easily falls out of included belt clip. The two little ears on the belt clip do not securely hold the phone and case in place. At best, this is a case you store in your pocket or purse, although the case makes the phone quite bulky. With the phone in the case, the charge cord cannot be connected, or at least we can't get any of the multiple chargers we own to work (we own 11 I Phones). The outer rubber housing, meant to absorb shock is thin...far thinner than standard Otter Box soft phone cases and the inner yellow shell is made of hard, unyielding plastic, so I doubt if this case offers much real protection if your IPhone is dropped from any height. This is one, poorly conceived design meant, I suspect to look tough but not much else. The Otterbox Defender Series 3 case fails in every way and given how poorly it performs, it is grossly overpriced to boot.』

(iPhone defender case is too snug)
『Getting your iPhone defender case into this armband will be a challenge. Strangely though, the iPhone without the case is a perfect fit. It appears that the armband is designed to fit a whole host of otterboxes of varying size, with the iPhone defender case on the larger end of what is compatible.

I recommend searching for an armband you can use without the defender case, unless you are adamant about not removing the iPhone from the case.』

『This is an excellent armband for use with the otterbox defender case. After I got my iPhone and defender case I thought for sure I was going to be stuck either with some universal case that didn't fit very well or I would have to remove my iPhone from it's protection to put it in a less protective armband that provided no protection from the elements when outside running. The only thing that I have found so far that keeps me from giving five stars is that the band gets a little distorted after a few uses, but that could just be the type of material that it is. All and all I am very pleased with this product and would get it again if I needed a replacement.』

『I purchased the defender armband so that I could bike with my iPhone 3GS while it was in my otterbox defender case. Unfortunately, the third time I used it the silicon armband tore at the corner as I was securing the device. Otterbox was extremely accomodating in sending me a new armband even though I did not buy it directly from them. Be very careful when you stretch the molded silicon in order to insert your defender case. Stretching the silicon armband to secure the corner of the defender case, especially if you have any fingernails at all (I am a guitar player), can cause the silicon to tear straight through, redering the armband useless. I should think women with long fingernails should be particularly careful.』

    (How can you not be happy with this?)
    『I use a golf GPS app on my iPhone and after shutting down most of the phones functions I hit the dead battery mark after 13 holes. I tried the Mophie Juice Pack-Air which is a slick package but at $80 it only charged my phone to 80% and so back it went. The Encore gives me a 1 full charge with the phone starting at less than a 10% charge, has a replaceable battery, and only costs $12! I can run the iPhone with all functions on and walk off the course with a 75% charge still left. Yeah, the Encore is not built like a tank but who cares? It only costs $12 and it works!』

I had had that model for while and saw a good opportunity to upgrade since I found I was always running out of power, especially when geocaching in the field.     『I was hesitant purchasing this product based solely on it's looks (how will it compliment my iphone?) and was considering the better looking (and more expensive) APC product. Good thing I went with this.

    The biggest difference between this product and everything else is that when you have your device connected (let's say iPod) and you're using it, it actually grabs the power from this product first, not the iPod. Most of the other products will only charge once you stop using your iPod. That means you can enjoy your iPod and have it fully charged at the same time. This has saved my life many times over flying 6-hours from coast to coast.

    Also, having the dual USB is awesome. I've now invested in the mini retractable USB cables for my iPhone, Blackberry, Nintendo DS and PSP and have used all of them successfully with this product. I also have them all in a tiny little Muji bag so it's small and convenient.

    I'm only giving it 4-stars because it really isn't pretty. But then again, it functions so well, who cares.』
