Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Pioneer VSX-919AH-K) 『Follow along with others who have reviewed this receiver. I am not an expert at setting up these things and had no problems getting it going. Used Toslink to hook up audio from Dish 722 and still had to use audio cables to get sound to second system for sound distribution through house. Don't know why one input could not be spread throughout system...Only gripe...Enough sound venues to satisfy anyone's taste. Video pass-through shows no degradation that I can see. Unit does get HOT!!! I have mine on a single shelf with about 4" of headroom and 3" of sideroom and it still gets so hot that it is very uncomfortable to hold your hand on top pf the unit. Hope this was built into the design, as it won't last long otherwise. I researched for several weeks before deciding on this unit...Glad I got it..Don't think you will be disappointed...』
(Great sound, but be careful.) 『In a nutshell: sounds great, amazingly complex to set up and operate, unintuitive controls and some minor things that just don't work. For example the iPod connection simply didn't work, and my emails to the company went un-returned. I also run my set-top box through it, and while it works it does so only after a good deal of fiddling. I am happy about the sound quality, but wish I did a bit more research and found a product better thought through.』
(Good Receiver! Tricky setup for unconventional hookups) 『I have had this receiver only for a few days. The primary reason for getting this receiver was for its HDMI switch since my 5 year old Panasonic Plasma only has 1 HDMI input. It is a replacement for a Yamaha HTR-5750 receiver that I have had for about 5 years. Other than the Cable HD DVR, I wanted to connect a Mac Mini to my TV through an HDMI connection along with mini Optical output that mini has. I have a 6.1 sound setup using the Onkyo speakers. The setup was not hard since I am used to hooking up A/V receivers, however it took me a good 2-3 hours to figure out the configuration especially on how to config assignable inputs. The problem is Kuru Link. It's On by default and prevents matching an HDMI input with one of the Optcal inputs for example. After figuring this out, I had another issue when suddently no sound was coming from the Mac Mini. After wasting some more time and tinkering with inputs, it dawned on my that you have to toggle through Audio inputs to select Digital as the Audio Input. This experience left me rather bummed. May be I should have read the whole Manual but it is not properly laid out. Any way, now it is working good. The switching between DVR and Mac Mini is faster than I though it would be. The Sound itself is very detailed and you hear a lot more surround effect. However it is not as warm as the Yamaha but I may need to tinker more with EQ. The MACC setup works rather well, but it misdiagnosed the size of my speakers as Large and also errored out a couple of times on the polarity of connections in Auto mode. I had to fix these errors and use Manual MACC. The banana plugs is a good idea as it is rather tight at the back...however, it is a one time thing so it didn't bother me that much.
I also looked at the higher end model 1019AH-K and it does seem appealing especially after great reviews on CNet etc., but I don't need upconversion and the extra HDMI input.
I'll probably be modifying my review once I get more into my new toy.』
(Great Receiver for the money) 『I purchased this Pioneer receiver after a lot of research of reviews for sub 1G receivers. Actually I was going to originally buy the 1019ah but decided that I did not need the additional HDMI input and saved about $100. I bought this unit for my new Home Theater system and it currently is powering two PSB-45 Tower speakers, matched with the PSB center and a Polk Audio PSW505 Sub and I am very pleased with the sound quality! My friend who is quite the audiophile has a 20g plus NAD system in his Home Theater and I must say that although his sounds very good, I cannot hear such a huge difference in quality of sound. The sound is top notch, music fidelity and clarity is true and precise, and I can hear instruments and notes that I could not make out before in my music. Of course having good quality speakers is crucial too, and if you are going to invest in this receiver dont skimp on the speaker selection either.
If there are any Cons it would be the non back-lit remote, it does make it hard to read in my darkened theater room, and the cramped access to the speaker connectors on the back of the unit, but if you use banana plugs it should be a non issue.
Another review complained about fan noise in his 919ah, I have not had any issues with mine, and have not heard any fan noise from my receiver, so perhaps his has a bad fan motor that would not be difficult to replace since it looks like a standard 80mm comp fan? This receiver is priced right and has all the options most people would need for very good sound reproduction and home entertainment. I highly recommend!』
(Excellent anchor for your mid-range Home Theater) 『I bought the 919 to replace a 3-year old Pioneer 1016TX-V that served me very well, but was hamstrung in its HDMI handling capabilities. As my home theater was expanding, I needed more HDMI inputs and the ability to convert analog inputs to HDMI without the use of additional output cables to the TV.
While the 1019 would have been the logical choice for me (coming from the 1016), it provided more capability than what I required, since I will not require playing a digital source in a second zone nor do I believe in tasking a receiver with video scaling (that should be the domain of the TV or input source, such as a Blu-Ray player). As such, the 919 fit the bill. I did consider the Onkyo RC-160, but have never liked how hot Onkyo receivers seem to run, and was discouraged by some early professional reviews indicating sound quality that wasn't up to par.
Set-up wise, the 919 is a snap if you've dealt with other Pioneer receivers. I had previously done installations with both a 1019 and 819, and as such was versed in the setup of current Pioneer VSX lineup.
The Advanced MCACC does an admirable job of calibration, on par with Audyssey, but like Audyssey, still required some fine tweaking of the center&subwoofer levels, along with the crossover frequency. I will note that it correctly identified the size of all my speakers - something the MCACC on my 1016 did not do.
With a Sony S350 outputting bitstream to the 919, it correctly identified and ostensibly decoded the requisite HD formats, producing a sound quality that seemed to be a level above what my 1016 was capable of - even my wife remarked on the perceived difference! The difference was subtle, and could be attributed to the way each receiver was calibrated, but it was still noticeable.
The iPod/iPhone interface is something special, not only because an adapter cable itself is included, but that that adapter cable hooks into a non-proprietary, can-be-found-anywhere USB port. Kudos to Pioneer! If you ever lose the cable, I'm sure you'll be able to find a relatively cheap knock-off replacement here on Amazon.
A special note about the iPhone/iPod interface: on the 919 and 1019 it is graphically based, but on the 819, it is completely textual and rather displeasing to the eye. Something to take into account if that is important to you.
I was initially hesitant with the 919 due to its MUCH lighter weight and more compact package as compared to my old 1016, but I'm now suitabily impressed. Overall, the 919 is a great buy, especially since you can find it for $350 or less as of the writing of this review. The only improvement I would make is to add one more HDMI input. 』 『Take advantage of the internal decoding of advanced HD audio formats to truly enjoy a full HD viewing experience. The VSX-919AH AV receiver can convert analog video signals to HDMI. And with an HDMI repeater (3 in/1 out), a single HDMI cable is all you need to transfer both video and audio digitally to the receiver. It features an iPod digital USB connection that provides direct plug-and-play enjoyment of all tracks stored on your iPod or iPhone, without the need for a docking station. When connected to a Blu-ray player via HDMI, the VSX-919AH uses a proprietary PQLS technology for a jitterless transmission, resulting in high-quality sound.Navigation becomes easy with the receiver's intuitive and fresh looking GUI (Graphical User Interface).』

(ipod speaker system) 『My 9 year old daughter loves this speaker system for her ipod. It was so easy to set up and use and sounds good as well. She had it figured out in about 3 seconds. The remote is awesome and super easy to figure out. Also..and important to her, it looks really cool in her room!』

Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Who on earth would market such a poor design?) 『Had high hopes of using this thing on bicycle rides, but an pretty disappointed in the item. Within 2 weeks the strap holding the iphone into the case broke. The speakers sound distorted at full volume. The battery compartment is a joke - it takes about 15minutes to get the batteries in and out. The case is too small to put anything else inside other than a naked iphone - it will not hold an iphone jacket if you use one so it is necessary to take your phone out and put the jacket somewhere else. Battery life appears thus far to be pretty short - about 3 commutes into the city and back (that would be about 5 hours of playing time). It could also benefit greatly by a way to secure the item to a handlebar. Great idea, only very poorly executed.』
(iMainGo 2) 『The sound quality is pretty good for such a small speaker. You are not going to get a great deep sound like from a stereo system, but it does the trick if you don't have anything else to hook your ipod up to. My only gripe is that when you zip up the speaker case with your device inside it is pretty fat. I wanted something to put in my pocket, but its just a bit too big for that.』
(Excellent Portable Sound System for Ipod Touch) 『This hand held speaker system is excellent. It's the perfect size, small enough to squeeze in my cargo shorts, or a purse for you ladies. The sound is clear/crisp and loud enough to easily rock out a room. I've taken it everywhere; beach, camping, hiking, for yardwork, etc. Great for just slapping it on a table in front of yout to have quick access to changing songs while you have friends over, versus constantly getting up to change CDs.』
(Majorly disappointed) 『Based on the reviews, I expected to be blown away by this unit. Not so much. I am getting distortion on virtually every song when the volume is not much above a whisper. I did try adjusting the music settings on my Ipod, but nothing helped very much. Maybe I have a defective product, but I am not going down that path. I recommend the Sony TRS-88, which I bought to replace this unit. The sound quality is far superior - no distortion - and it has a volume control and AC adapter.』
(works great for what we need it for.) 『Got this case so my son with Down Syndrome could boost the sound of his I Pod, and use the Proloquo2go app. It works well and very portable for his needs.』 『Amazing sound digital amplifier Titaninum high output stereo speakers tuned porting for enhanced bass. Fits all iPods/MP3 players and iPhone Zune (2nd generation) with new memory foam.』

Play Clay Ocarinas, Santa Rosa CA, USA
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Great Songbook for iPhone Ocarinas Too!) 『I recently got the Ocarina Application for my iPhone. I was getting frustrated looking for one song at a time on the Internet, then I found this book on Amazon and ordered it. I had always wanted to learn to play an instrument, but never did. Finally after buying this songbook, I was amazed that I could literally start playing my iPhone Ocarina right away. Within a few days I was playing all the songs in the book, since they are all time favorites. I highly recommend this book for all ages. If you've got the iPhone Ocarina bug, you will want to get this songbook!』
(Amazing Songbook, Amazing service.) 『To begin with, this book is has a very nice introduction into the history of the Ocarina. It's followed very good guide on tones and scales. Most books lack the information this one has on that matter. So count me impressed on that.
The songs themselves are a wide variety, with a little something for all occasions. If you want to be well rounded in your Ocarina playing, this songbook is a must. It even includes some holiday songs.
The fingering charts are easy to understand, in size and picture quality. Each page has some neat little graphics that add alot of charm to the book as well.
All in all, this is an excellent book, and has something for everyone who loves playing Ocarina in it. Even if your a beginner, this is the book you need to buy.』
(IMPRESSIVE!!!) 『I love this book...I am trying to master the ocarina, and this item is truly teriffic! It makes learning fun! Great song variety,user-friendly,and of course, helpful. Very fast, and friendly service! I will use this seller again!』
(Best Ocarina Book) 『101 Songs for the Ocarina is a fasinating book for musicians and non-musicians alike. One need not know how to read music to learn to play the little ocarina flute like a pro. By following the clear diagrams of which of the 4 holes to cover for different notes, the reader can quickly learn to play any of the songs in the book. Since the songs are all well-known, the player will know without notation how to play the rhythm. As a music teacher, I can really appreciate the ease with which a student can learn to play this intrument using the book 101 Songs!』
(Great Songbook) 『I had an Ocarina for years and didn't learn how to play it, until I got this songbook. Everything is in here and I played all the songs one after the other. I like the selection of songs. Other Ocarina songbooks I looked at had just kiddy songs and folk tunes, but this book has songs from the 60's, international songs, songs from movies and musicals, classical music etc.
The history of the Ocarina flute is interesting. I didn't know it was from Italy and was invented so long ago. This songbook also shows you how to take sheet music and change it to fingering charts, if you read music. But you don't have to read music to play the songs, they are all in fingering charts. Over all - highly recommended for kids and grownups who are young at heart. 』 『This is the biggest and best Ocarina Songbook for the 4 hole Ocarina in the world today. The songs can be played on the iPHONE as wll.
Author Ruthie Bitton is a well known Ocarina maker and musician. Her follow up songbook is called "100 New songs for the Ocarina"
The songbook has 101 popular songs, folk tunes and even Classical music. It also has the history of Ocarinas, Scales and full instructions on how to play the Ocarina. The book is illustrated.
With this book, you can instantly play all the songs; The songs are arranged in fingering charts, so there is no need to read music. Even a 6 years old kid can instantly play all the songs. It is a lot of fun and teaches kids and adults a lot about music.

It goes step my step and shows you how your I Phone operates and gives you tips on how to get the most out of it. It is a little short on illustrations so some one that has a hard time picturing thing in their mind might have a trouble. The title may miss lead some into thinking it is how to hack your I Phone and it gives you a few tips on that, but it is basically an I Phone operating guide』
(Great Mix of Beginner and Techie Content) 『Great Mix of Beginner and Techie Content
As an iPhone user since summer of last year and a current user of a 3G phone, this book presents a great resource for someone who is just starting with an iPhone to someone fairly savvy. The content that covers the general usage of the phone is a lot better than any documentation that comes with the phone and there is a lot of information that you pick up along the way.
At first, I thought some of the earlier chapters were a little basic. As I was reading, I was surprised at the number of things that I picked up which now seem painfully obvious that I never knew before. Things like unlocking the phone faster or better using the iPhone stereo headset. After those chapters was a lot of meaty content.
There are a couple chapters on better email handling and browsing on the phone. For email handling, there's a good overview of how to setup mail on the iPhone and through iTunes as well. In Safari, I learned a few things for moving around and managing pages.
The next section is about prepping media for use on the iPhone and about the iPod functionality. There is also a section for hacking the iPhone. While this is a section that requires keeping current outside of the book, it is a good base of knowledge to know what to look for.
My usage of photos and the camera had been pretty limited before reading the book. Two things I took out of this section was the idea to use the iPhone more as a slideshow player than a camera (since I generally don't like the phone's camera) and to use Flickr to upload the pictures that I do take. The end of that chapter includes a dozen of oddball uses of the camera and some of them are really oddballs.
The book itself has an attractive layout and is easy to go through. There is a good mix of content and call-out tips which provide plenty of information for getting the most out of the iPhone. This book covers both Windows and Mac.
All in all, it's a very practical book that gives plenty of overview and great nuggets that will enhance your experience on the iPhone.』
(Got me through my iPhone learning curve in no time flat.) 『Since they've come around, I've been one of those people that have had to have the latest and greatest phone. I've had just about every high end PocketPC or Smartphone available. And I've really liked them. I had one of the 1st gen iphones (4gb) but b/c I was on T-Mobile, it was little more than an iPod (and I use a Zune so that wasn't even very important to me). I had an unlucky streak though and broke the last two iMate Smartphones I had within a few weeks of each other so was left using a Windows Mobile 5.0 device. A coworker was going to return his iPhone and offered it to me for a decent discount and i figured what the heck, I'll give it a try.
At first though, it was of little benefit. That's b/c I was on T-Mobile not AT&T and knew veyr little about the iPhone. After looking around the net, I saw this book had really high ratings and was available for the Kindle. So while I was eating dinner, I bought it. A few seconds later it appeared on my kindle and I dove in. I started making notes of what all I needed to do to get it working on T-Mobile and a few other things. I had struggled for a few days trying to get it working to no avail. I was having a lot of trouble getting it to sync with my ultra mobile pc running vista. With this book on my Kindle, I returned home and dove in. About 2 hours later I was up and running. Not only did I have the phone working but I had the ipod synced, and internet connectivity. It took me all of 10 seconds to fall in love with Safari. So chapter by chapter I kept reading. In all, I ended up doing a late nighter b/c I was learning how to do things on the iPhone that I either didn't know about or couldn't get working. Navigation went from being a pain in the a55 to a breeze. In no time I had it synced with my Outlook contacts too... and it even pulled in each contact's picture if it was available in my Outlook profile.
So in just a few hours, I went from not being able to make calls or use the iPod to basically having a smaller and faster version of my ultra mobile PC. In fact, now that I've gotten so familiar with it, I rarely use my ultra mobile b/c it's just another gadget to worry about and have to keep charged.
The book is very easy to read and while I'm not a technical novice, I was completely unfamiliar with Apple products. It got me right over the learning curve in just a few hours. Every single thing I had wanted to do with the iPHone was explained - perfectly I may add, in this book. Additionally, the book amazingly gets right to the point of everything and gives it coverage commensurate with the importance of the feature. It really holds your hand through some of the more difficult things (like getting it working with other networks) but doesn't belabor issues that aren't all that big of a deal.Every other book I can think of on how to use any given mobile device, be it a camera, zune, xbox etc is the opposite - it covers the basics in painful detail and tends to cover the important stuff lightly. Maybe it's just that what I consider important is the same stuff the author did, but I think pretty much anyone new to the iPhone will be left feeling the same way I was. (the best example I can give is with respect to the warnings and explanation of the warranty. If you're a none AT&T user, you don't want to do anything to void the warranty and end up being left out to dry. So I was really hesitant to just indiscriminately try things I found on the net. By specifically addressing this issue, explaining the downside and upside, the author makes it clear they understood what you're facing and then she proceeds to explain it in enough detail that you won't be (or at least I wasn't) afraid to give it a try).
If you have an iPhone already and are well versed in all of its features, then you probably don't need this book although there will be a few things you'll find helpful (particularly in terms of navigation). If you have a AT&T Contract and only use bread and butter features then you'll be in the same boat. But if you're new to iPhone and particularly if you're on another network, and you are of the "I can't live without my phone" mindset, this book is absolutely for you. It's written to that type of user specfically and she does a superb job in that respect
Considering the price for the Kindle edition in particular, it was one of the smartest buys I made in a while. Without it, I would very likely have just given up on the iPhone, and now I've definitely become a major fan of it and would really hate to not have an iPhone. All because of this book.』
(Nice blend of techie and practical information...) 『So you've taken the plunge and bought an iPhone. You've read what passes for an instruction manual, and you're amazed that everything just seems to work. But you *know* there's more that you're missing. Taking Your iPhone to the Max by Erica Sadun does a very good job in walking you through all the major parts of the iPhone interface, explaining how they work, and giving you plenty of "hidden tips" along the way. I changed a few ways I do things on my iPhone after reading...
Contents: Selecting, Buying, and Activating Your iPhone; Interacting with Your New iPhone; Placing Calls with iPhone; iPhone Messaging; iPhone E-mail; Browsing with Safari; Preparing Your Media in iTunes; It's Also an iPod; iPhone Photos; Google Maps and Other Apps; Hacking the iPhone; Index
Since the "instruction manual" included with the iPhone is about eight panels of a fold-out piece of paper, you're not going to get much in the way of instruction when you buy the thing. You can download the PDF guide from Apple's site, but how often did you ever read the manual of your prior cell phone? Thought so... Sadun presents the information in a much more relaxed and understandable format. Rather than a simple "do this, this, and this", she explains why things work the way they do, as well as some things that aren't common knowledge. For instance, there are a number of service shortcuts you can use to get information about your AT&T account. *225# will give you the balance of your bill, *646# will give you the remaining number of minutes on your account, etc. I'm sure you can dig up that information somewhere, but it's all nicely formatted and presented here in a logical, cohesive manner. Personally, I hadn't known of (or remembered) about punctuation dragging, where you touch the .?123 key and then drag your finger over to the punctuation character you want. Since it's a single character action, the keyboard immediately returns to the alpha setting. I find myself doing that all the time now.
While the book is well-suited for the non-techie phone users, there's also coverage of the jailbreak process and how that works. She references that technique in a number of places, and explains where you can find certain directories and files if you've got command-line access to your iPhone. As this came out before the official Apple API release, you won't get any coverage of it here. But when you get down to it, the people who will use the jailbreak method probably won't want to play by the restrictive rules of the official API anyway. :)
This wasn't the first iPhone book I've read, but it was no less valuable than the first one. I find myself picking up new tips and tricks that I didn't remember or that didn't stick the first time. And given the size and style of the book, it hits a nice blend between pure tech and hand-holding newbie. Due to a sprained knee last weekend, I started on the list and this week, the first two books came in. The first one to be read, Mobile as 7th of the Mass Media by Tomi Ahonen.
So I simply made a goal for myself with this book: that I would take only one day to read it front to back. And that I did. 4hrs even it took, and this was the hardest book to read that I went straight through. Simply put, there were so many points that stuck out that I found myself stopping to reflect more and more - not just about mobile - but what it means to live in a connected generation.
Mobile as 7th of the Mass Media is a bit more than 300 pages of statistics and perspectives about the rise and impact of mobile devices as litereally the most pervasive new technology in the last 100 years. Ahonen chronicles not only the history of mass media to this point, but how each media interacts with one another, statistically reaching more and different people, eventually growing out from the media the preceeded it, to something else world-changing. We are in the 7th iteration of mass media in repsect ot mobiles (or cellphones), and its in this 7th interation that we have and will continue to see the most disruptive changes to our lives across every social and economic strata.
From a literary perspective, this is a very thick book that does a great job of presenting facts and figures, then rounding perspectives in a global manner to the reader. Its very hard to read this book only in the perspective of "I don't see this in my neighborhood," because the effects are so far reaching. And at the same time, some of the repeated analogies and metaphors might turn off those who are looking at this as more of a story of why mobile is a mass media, rather than the way it is written - how mobile is a mass media and what those effects can be.
From the perspectve of a mobile and web technology writer, I can say that this is (a) required reading, and (b) reflective reading. The perception of what is "good" and "far reaching" online can be missed when we see that the Internet, laptops, and even email constitute a much smaller frame of connectivity than what we tell others or learn for ourselves. Simply speaking, Mobile as 7th of the Mass Media gives every reason for one to reevaluate why they are analyizing mobile technology, and truly see it first through the eyes of all its uses (real and potential) and why the media themes leading up to mobile will have to walk alongside or get ran over.
While it is that I read Mobile as 7th of the Mass Media in the course of 4hrs, I would recommend this not only as reading material, but short-term reference material. The facts and figures are bolstered by solid research that is constantly being checked and rechecked. And at the same time, the baseline of information provided will endear the reader and analyst alike to better speak about mobile towards its intended aims, and not frame it in the perceptions of other media.
I would not recommend Mobile as 7th of the Mass Media to someone who is not into mobile, web, or connected services. This is not sociology in that respect. I would recommend it to web developers, business analysts, economists, teachers, and parents of technological teens as a means of pointing them to what is to come (quickly).
It is in this respect that Mobile as 7th of the Mass Media is a great book. It does not pertend to know the "why" of mobile, but rather the "what" and "how" and then "what's next" aspects of understanding it. This foundation makes not just for better device users, but better and more empowered world citizens.』
(21st Century Media strategy must read) 『Tomi Ahonen's new book is a media mapping gift for organizational leaders world wide. He has outlined a rigorous and documented structure for publishers, governments, corporations, activists, and individuals to understand the 21st Century media maelstrom and to implement mobile strategies immediately.
By enumerating all the unique issues with mobile, and its ability to cannibalize the power and effectiveness of the older 6 media types, Tomi is giving moguls and newbies alike a matrix to understand a world where a Twitter user with SMS is now 100000X more effective in 30 minutes than Reuters et al can be in the new 'user generated media' universe ---untracked by Google for 48 hours or longer it seems.
Tomi's experience and sharing of deep market research in Finland and in Korea and with dozens of other mobile markets, is another gift for CEO's and CMO's in this book.
With 3 billion and soon to be 4 billion mobile users messaging, receiving intelligent network based SAAS alerts, and navigating to local language websites configured for mobile; Tomi is giving SME's and desperate media executives the needed framework and linkages to coordinate the 7 media types seamlessly.
As with many things with the world in tumult, the march of mobile as a 10 to the X political, economic, social, and educational bulwark continues with billions of messages per day etc and new business models.
Tomi's book is a complete marketing and strategy class under one cover. I had to read it twice to understand many of the innovations bubbling quickly in the youth markets of Japan and Korea. Those who read it, and ponder its lessons for their affairs with mobile enablement will be enormously enriched and informed of leading trends and innovations. The media dinosaurs who will not read it, will continue their death spiral and their eclipse. This book is on the top shelf of my library and is equal in power to the Cluetrain Manifesto in its voice of authority and prescience. Basically, every MBA student in 2009 needs to read this book. Every CMO needs to roadmap the difficulties of this economic cycle with its principles.

(Excellent coverage of Mobile's impact on the Media industry) 『Tomi is a great spokesperson for the mobile industry and this book reflects that. Building his case step-by-step, he puts forth the case for mobile as a compelling mass media channel detailing the evolution of media itself and how mobile differs, enhances, and excels. For folks looking to become familiar with the intricacies, it is a brilliant primer. For people already in the industry, it has stats and case studies that one can learn from. Highly recommended.
Chetan Sharma』 『With the subtitle of Cellphone, Cameraphone, iPhone, Smartphone,Tomi's latest book takes readers to a journey of the most advancedcontent and media services deployed on mobile phones in the mostadvanced mobile telecoms countries such as Japan, South Korea, HongKong, Finland etc. He goes through the taxonomy of the seven massmedia, with an emphasis of what lessons can be learned when newermedia were introduced. These lessons he applies now to the 7th media, mobile, with compelling arguments for why just copying television, newspaper or internet content to mobile is not enough. The book starts by setting the stage by examining the overall industryand the consumers of mobile content in four chapters. Next Tomidevotes two chapters into explaining how to build compelling contentto mobile, and exploding the myths of the limitations of supposedlytoo small keypad and tiny screen. In the book he then devotes achapter each to the most promising early media content types: music, gaming, TV, internet, advertising and social networking. Tomi explainswhat works and what doesn't when deploying content to the mobile. Healso includes a chapter on SMS text messaging. In the book Tomi expands his 5 M's mobile service theory to 6 M's. Hediscusses the seven unique benefits of mobile as a mass media channel, and he discusses how mobile phones have evolved through the 8 C's. Heconcludes the book with essays on related matters such as disruptivefactors now creating new opportunities, and a chapter on discussingwhy the American industry lags the rest of the world in mobiletelecoms. Like Tomi's previous books with us (Communities Dominate Brands,co-authored with Alan Moore and Digital Korea, co-authored with JimO'Reilly) Mobile as 7th of the Mass Media is also a hardcover book, which runs 322 pages and is packed with 16 case studies,up-to-the-minute statistics, end-user analysis, and real worldexamples.』
