(Works just as well as the Apple cable)
『Our original Apple cable suddenly quit working and we had no way to charge my iTouch 1st gen. I had never had to buy this cable before so I was shocked that Apple was charging $20 for it. I found this one online and thought for the price I would give it a try. It has worked just as well as the original cable, charging my iTouch just as quickly and easily. I bought 2 so that I would have a backup this time. The package arrived 3 days after my purchase without expidited shipping. So far it performs just as well as my original and I am very happy with my purchase.』

They work fine, but the end that goes into the iPod/iPhone is a little larger&klunkier than Apple's low profile plug. This means that if you're trying to plug it into an iPhone or iPod Touch that is wearing a case, it might not fit all the way through the opening at the bottom of the case, causing it to not "click" in and lock all the way. At least this has been my experience.』

『I've ordered two of these... both of which I had to send back. :-(

I currently use a PAC Aux-pod interface (same manufacturer as this Pass Through) that I had used to power and play my old 4th gen ipod directly through the car stereo in my 2004 Toyota Camry, and wanted to use the same system to play/power my new iPhone 3G. (Like most legacy equipment for the older iPods, the Aux-Pod will play, but not power, modern iPhones...) So this Pass Through is basically and adapter/cable extender, that when you plug into the Aux-pod, allows you to pug on an IPhone and power/play.

My first order arrived and seemed to work OK for the most part, but every time I plugged in my iPhone, I received the warning message that "this device is not designed to wok with the iPhone" and asked if I wanted to "switch to airplane mode to reduce interference". Regardless, it did seem to work OK mostly... playing songs AND charging. I did notice that there was occasionally a little static interference when playing music from the iPhone and using the Pass Through. However, notably, my iPhone never did fit snugly into the Pass Through, and after a week or so, the iPhone stopped charging, and I sent back to Amazon.

My replacement arrived, and it displayed the same warning, and still had the static, but the adapter fit more snugly, and I was more or less content. However, again, after a few weeks usage, the powering capability died, and while Amazon accepts the return, they will not send a replacement stating "As it seems that the problem with this item is more widespread than we originally thought, we are not able to send another replacement. Please note that it is not our intention that we should not replace this item for you, but we don't want to disappoint you by sending you a replacement which may still be defective." Though it appears they are still listing the item for sale... hmmmm....

So, I'm going to look for an alternative, and contact PAC.

Either way, can't recommend. :-(』

『A book such as Damon Brown's The Pocket Idiot's Guide to the iPhone can really only have two possible purposes: to give a potential user information to help them decide whether and what to buy, and/or to provide information to a user that goes beyond the manual in helping them to make the most of a gadget. Unfortunately, this book succeeds in neither of these goals.

The closest Mr. Brown comes to discussing whether one should buy the iPhone is a small suggestion that it might not hurt to wait to buy it until some of the inevitable first-round kinks are worked out. Other than that, he mostly spends his words raving about how utterly cool the iPhone is and how no one could possibly not want it. He ignores such basic and essential information as the fact that you must send your iPhone in for servicing in order to replace the battery, something that users might want to know before deciding whether to plunk down their money.

As for providing additional information to users, well, let's just say I did a quick comparison of this book to the actual iPhone manual from Apple. The manual does a far better job of exploring the programs available on the iPhone and how to use them in depth. For example, Brown's information on using the iPhone to check your email is limited to a brief paragraph or two saying you can use it with such services as Yahoo! and Gmail, while the manual explains in-depth how to access your mail. In fact, the only thing I saw better information on in the book was the use of iTunes in creating playlists and buying music. This hardly seems like the best use of space given that iTunes is one part of iPhone's package that most users are likely to already be familiar with.

In short, you can do better with the manual and a quick Google search than you can with this book.』

『This book was useless to me. I truly cannot fathom the person that it would benefit. I returned mine the day that I received it. I was forced to rate the book to submit this review. I wanted to give it no stars but the lowest that I could do was a 1.』

『Probably the worst book ever on iPhone or Android programming.

Actually scratch that, because it doesn't say anything meaningful about writing software for mobile platforms. The "chapters" inside are 1-2 pages long each and are as made by cutting and pasting marketroid articles you will find in ComputerWordl/InformationWeek or even newspapers targeted at general population. There is no technical or usable information whatsoever.

Bad typography (if that is not apparent from the cover). Big fonts, no illustrations, no info on the author or reviews. The title of the book printed inside is different from the title on the cover!

Consider yourself warned. I was so lucky I didn't buy the book but borrowed it from the library... Waste of time, I pity the next innocent readers.

The heading is
"Mobile Application Development 100 Success Secrets" which
"... is NOT about the ins and outs of Mobile Application development. .."
" This book is also NOT about Mobile Appication Development' best practice and standards details. Instead, it introduces everything you want to know to be sucessful with Mobile Application Development"

But how to be successful ?

The author compiled 100 articles, each one page and a few lines long, (proper formatting can make each article, typically less than 400 words, fit into one page) for the so called top 100 questions found in forums and the author's consultancy and education programs.

I think probably all mobile developer can answer 90% of the questions far better than the author. Take for example, on page 78,

"The Secrets of an Effective Mobile Application Development Tool"

The first half of the article is opening remarks, which need not be shown.
The second half is very short as you know, can be easily be included below:

"What is the general proeductivity feature of the tool?
"Of course, you would want to have a tool which productivity rate is at par with the best tools. When you make an evaluation on the tools that you are making, it is best that you check on the capability of the tool to produce better results.
"Is the productivity feature matching with the price of the tool?
"As a businessman, money plays a verfy important role. It is e3ssential that you carefully assess whether or not the money that is to be shelled out from buying the tool is highly compensated with what it can provide you as the user.

Did you learn anything from these lines. I find only part of the last sentence useful.
"... whether or not the money that is to be shelled out ... is highly compensated"

Judge for yourself. Unfortunately, only the book cover is shown for you to judge.

『I liked this case when I first got it. The colors looked great and it looked real sharp with the apple logo showing through. However, in less than 2 weeks the white parts started turning yellow. It looks so gross now that I can't use it any longer. It protected decently, not great, but that was what I expected from such a slim-fitting case.』

『This case feels very nice in your hand because of how it's made, and I'm sure it will protect the phone well....but the color of the pink stripe is not what I expected at all. I thought it would be a darker hot pink, like magenta, but it's a bright hot pink, almost orange-y. I also was not pleased that the price of the case went down about $5 between the time I ordered it and the time I recieved it. Not worth what I paid for it.』

『In my opinion, every case out there detracts from the beauty and feel of the iPhone and this is no exception. If you must use a case this is a pretty good choice. It's far better than most cases on the market, most of which are just hideous.

The material has a good, smooth feel although it doesn't feel as nice a the iPhone itself. I think it could be thinner.

『Let me start off by saying i didnt buy this case with many expectations, as you shouldnt for the price. I bought the white one. And the reason i give it 3 stars is because the white begins to discolor into a dirty off-white over time. ive owned the case for about a month. on the back the apple symbol is not protected and will leave a ring on your iphone if not cleaned regularily. However, this case is very lo profile, sleek, and when i first got it, sexy. in retrospect i would have gotten a different color. and the vibrate/silence is blocked a bit to turn on vibrate for people with big fingers, but isnt too big of a nuisance. this case will not protect the screen from a drop. for scratch/wear protection this phone is great, but for drop and rugged use protection, keep shopping. just my 20 cents :P』

『Purchased both black and white case. Using the white one myself, love it. Guess I will have to let you know about the dirt thing. I found the phone itself to be very slippery. Dropped it twice before initially buying a sponge like case, which hung up when trying to get it out of belt holster. The shield gives you decent protection, still "smooth" but with just enough texture to make it easy to grip and not slip from hand. You really won't know it's there, seems like part of the phone. About to buy a red one for my wife.』

『Bought this FM transmitter after some online blogs few months ago for my iPhone 3G. I thought it came with a 3-year warranty so it wouldn't be too bad even if something went wrong. It turned out everything went wrong. The product was ok to begin with. I managed to get a couple relatively clean channels and used it for about a couple months. Then the transmitter started producing pretty bad static noise and eventually gave up (no longer in sync with the radio and would not even charge the phone).
Now the worst part, their customer service is NON-EXISTANT. I filled their online forums 3 times in past two weeks but nothing came back from them. Apparently they don't care about their customers. I finally fed up and threw this piece of crap into garbage can. My advice to you, the potential buyers, forget about buying this thing online, try local Best Buy and pay little extra for something else, you have much better chance.

『I ordered this using my Prime membership and opted for the overnight shipping. Total shipped was less than Contour charges for it on their site without shipping!

I knew from looking at their site that it came with a holster and belt ciip but I wasn't prepared for them to work so well together with the case. I love how I can snap the case into the holster in any direction. It fits in screen in or out and also with the home button to the left or right. It basically allows for unlimited placement options in the holster. The case snaps into the holster quite easily but with a satisfying and reassuring soft snap. It also comes out of the holster in an equally smooth fashion. The belt clip on the holster can be installed for landscape or portrait orientation of the phone on your belt. I prefer landscape so this was a welcome feature. Another cool feature of the holster is that it has a cut out area for the volume and silent controls to be operated while the case is in the holster. Finally and this is something I just discovered, the holster doubles as a stand for the iPhone. At least in landscape mode (I didn't try this in portrait mode) the holster and belt clip allow the case to stand at a nice angle. This works no matter which end of the clip is on the desktop, a nice feature that Contour does not mention on their site.

The case itself is a thing of beauty. The finish on it is silky smooth and it snaps together so perfectly that the seam between the front and back halves is not very noticeable at all. I really like the coverage that they gave all of the ports and openings on the phone. The headphone and dock plugs fit perfectly, and the membranes over the volume and power switches actually improved the feel of both for me. Overall the case adds very little bulk to the phone and gives it a sleek all black look that I really like.

This is a really well thought out and designed case, Highly reccomended!』

『The is the best protective case that I have found. It installs very easily and protects buttons, earphone jack, and sync port. The only problem I've found is that the rubber insert that covers the sync port eventually splits off from the rubberized backing of the case. Actually, I've found I prefer it without this cover, since before it had to be opened with each charge or sync cycle. Included is a plastic belt clip that works fine if you prefer carrying the iPhone that way. Personally I've found that my pocket works out best.Hardskin V3 for Apple iPhone (Black)』

(A very protective understated iphone case)
『Contour seems to have corrected the faults mentioned by critical reviewers. The "silent" switch is now easily accessible to my rather stubby fingers, and the rubber switch covers do not impede use whatsoever (in fact I prefer the response when I have the covers on). The case clicks together with a satisfying and reassuring firmness and the fit is so precise that there are places where it is difficult to discern a seam.

Originally I got this case because I thought the rubberized layer would add a shock-absorbing quality to the very positively reviewed Contour 3v polycarbonate shell. What I did not expect was how convincingly protected the iphone is when placed in the holster with its very secure and positive belt clip. This convinced me to constantly carry my iphone in this fashion.

My wife thinks it looks great.

Con: It does not come with a screen protector.

『I got this for my iPhone 3G, only to discover that it does not fit the 3G. My mistake to be sure, but the V3 in the title makes it easy to confuse.』

(Solid case, with one minor (and surmountable) exception)
『This is a solid case. It snaps together sturdily, and it has a great feel. It is slightly rubbery, but much less so than other cases. It doesn't stick going in or out of my pocket, but it gives me a better grip on the iPhone (which is really slippery without a case!)

The case is mostly rigid, with a bit of flexibility. It's quite thin, and doesn't make the phone too bulky to easily pocket. There are covers for the power switch and the volume buttons and the dock, but I don't use them.

The case looks great, visually. It is great for people who want their iPhone to be inconspicuous. It has a nice matte finish, and the "Countour" logo text on the back is small, and done in a way that it doesn't look like text at all... it just looks like a little swoosh with some vertical lines. Very much appreciated.

The only problem I've had with this case is that the opening for the ring/silent switch doesn't extend down enough towards the back of the phone. So while it is easy to flip to switch to "silent," it is hard to get it back, as the switch sits flush against the start of the cover, and it is hard to get a fingernail in between the two. I remedied this with a pair of cuticle trimmers and a knife. I literally cut down about 2mm and now I can easily flick the switch. The modification took about a minute, and didn't particularly require a lot of skill.』

『This wasn't a bad deal at all, I gotthe flip case and tune band for like 20$. The flip case alone is sold for about the same price at retail outlets. Theflip caseis nice and works good with dress apparel. The arm band on the other hand is made of flimsy rubber and virtually unusable, because it flippidy flops all over the place even if you're just doin the dishes. So myadvice would be to get this if you want the flipcase but not if you want it for the armband.』

(Excellent Quality and Price)
『After looking around for an armband for my iPhone I was unable to find anything I was willing to take a chance on either due to questionable quality or price. Then I find this offer from Grantwood Technologies providing not only an armband but also a leather carrying case, both at the price of what I was seeing for a single iPhone case. So I bit and ordered the set.

I have been very happy with this purchase. Not only is the armband exactly what I was looking for (good construction, solid fit) but I have found the leather case more handy than expected. It is also well built. In addition, I really like the material the armband is made out of. It doesn't get slippery during a workout and has a nice feel.

As far as criticisms go, I have few. Leather case does stay closed through the use of a magnet. Thus I had some concerns about it inadvertantly erasing either credit cards or thumb drives. But to date, this hasn't happened.

『I got this package mostly for the leather case, but the armband was a bonus. For the record, the armband iPhone holder was a clear white, not black. Why they cannot make a slider case with an armband I do not know but I don't use the armband simply because I prefer to dock my iPhone except when I travel.

The leather case protects the iPhone well. An iPhone with an InCase brand slider on it still fits perfectly. My only concern is the magnets that hold it shut. You should always be suspicious of magnets near electronic devices, but they do not seem strong enough to effect the device.

There is nothing wrong with the belt clip. It works perfectly.

What I want to say most is that Grantwood's customer service is exemplary. They send you an email right away and give you the order specifics so you can notify them if it's in error. They also respond to replies! The item was shipped immediately after my order was placed and arrived a day earlier than expected. I will be happy to buy other products from Grantwood.』

『I bought this item mainly to use the flip case. The main problem was the difficulty in clipping the case to my belt. The clip was too short for me to manipulate and pry open to insert into my belt. The clip is very strong. This is a plus point as it clips well on the belt but the clip is too short that one will find difficulty to clip on the belt. In the end, every time one has to use force and manipulation in order to clip it. As time goes by, the case torn from the clip. Now i can't use the flip case anymore....(used for 3 months only)
The silicon skin is satisfactory. There is a small defect that i noticed. At the bottom part of the skin near the "Home" button of the Iphone, the "U" shape skin silicon is retracting up a little bit, so it affects my typing on the iphone keyboard.』

『I bought this to use with a new 3rd generation iPod Touch. It sounds very good, and lets me rotate the iPod to watch videos in lanscape mode. The sound is good for a system this size. The internal rechargable battery has a good life, and it charges from a mini-USB connection, so I can use a common adapter for cell phone, iPod, and speaker.

The holder for the iPod seems a bit flimsy to shove into a suitcase, so careful packing is needed. Though it wasn't documented in the manual, I figured out that the holder can be popped off to route the audio cable for the Touch. It comes configured for the iPhone.

Viewing angles are limited by the mass of the iPod. It has to tilt a certain amount, or none at all, or it will fall. If there's a way to shift the base, I haven't found it.』

(Extreme Noise Isolation (Plus There's Music Inside))
『After losing my noise canceling Audio Technica ATH-ANC7 headphones on a trip, I was miserable. I was forced to turn my music up to turn the outside world down. After 3 months, I just couldn't take it. Did a few days worth of research and decided on the HF5s finally.

WOW!!!

These earphones are exactly what I've always wanted, just never knew existed--excellent music inside my earplugs. I'm bad at handling noise that is out of place (neighbors stomping upstairs, blasting TV downstairs, extremely loud individuals on the subway (+ the subway noise itself), car alarms...). These guys completely block all of it out. I can sit and study in the middle of a cafeteria and not hear a soul. I'm no longer that grumpy old guy (24 is the new 75) that asks everyone to "pipe down you noisy kids." The noise isolation is so good that my wife constantly surprises me even if she's trying to get my attention--I just don't hear her calling me--as she comes up to me.

As far as the sound quality goes, these are far superior to the AT (just like in the noise dept). There's no hiss of the noise cancellation and the music is just much more clear. So many little sounds are heard hat I just didn't know were part of the music or the show. I'm periodically turning around when I think someone's behind me--nope it's just the 3D sound that these things give off.

PROS:
*Sound Isolation. 10/10. I use extreme ear plugs and these are better (plus there's music inside).
*Small Package. 10/10. Completely fit inside pinna (outer ear), so there's nothing protruding. Can sleep in these comfortably if so inclined.
*Sound Quality. 9/10. I'm not at all an audiophile. I just hear much more detail in a lot of the music I have and the shows I watch. May seem a bit 'tinny' for some, but that's 'cause they're not dull and bassy.

CONS (small issues):
*3-flange earpieces. Will scrape ALL of your wax out if you don't really clean your ears. Get gunked up quick. Keep cleaning those ears.
*3-flange earpieces. May be a bit uncomfortable if put in dry or slightly off. Have to make sure to push in all the way (stop BEFORE it hurts).
*Rubbery cord. Kind of annoying. Grips tables, so it won't slide when you lean on it or try to push it over a bit with a textbook or something. Harder to untangle (not slippery).
*Cord transmits movement sounds unless wrapped around ears. Should be preshaped or stiffer at the ears to make wrapping easier. Not perfect as is.
*L/R designation written in least visible place on earphone--underneath, in thin white lettering. This is a pet peeve, the chords or phones can easily be marked by a tiny something to distinguish between them.

Conclusion:
These headphones provide me with complete noise isolation and excellent sound quality. They have been tested in cafes, NYC Subway, home, office. If you're looking for quiet, stop looking!!! Plus there's music inside!』

『I have had a set of Etymotic Research ER6i's before, so I knew the comfort and sound quality would be excellent on this pair of earphones. The triple flange design is both comfortable and secure, and gives a noticeable drop in ambient noise, even without the earphones playing music. The microphone seems to have good sound quality, with no one I talked to noticing any degradation in sound quality. Having a conversation wearing them takes some getting used to, as the sound from these earphones seems to be inside your head, but with time it feels normal.』

(Great but customer support could be better)
『I sent Etymotics two emails before i bought my pair of headsets and didn't get a response until a month later. Which was that no, the remote didn't work with the Ipod Touch. However, I bought these anyway and they work perfectly with the Ipod Touch, so really, customers support not only is slow but then not really interested in giving the right answers. Does not bode well for the day i'll have an isssue with these.

Other than that, the remote/mic is a bit heavy and dangles off the ear but it's really not that big a deal.

Sound is amazing, better than any other headset i've tried, and it's not even their high-end product. They improved the bass rendering significantly, it's now right where it should be I think.』

『Really, fellow iphone users in search of the perfect headphone, there is no comparison. Yes, they are more expensive, but sometimes you do get what you pay for. Each pair comes with four different ear insertion tips, not just different sizes, but each a unique kind to insure a good fit for any ear. They're well built, sound great, function flawlessly with your phone and the customer service is GREAT! As a New Yorker, who walks a lot and rides the subway, I'm constantly stuffing them in my pocket, so I can clearly attest to their durability. Yes this has caused some breakage issues, but on two occasions I've returned them and received new headphones! While many of you will never experience their return policy, because they really are durable, it's nice to know it's there. I've had "V-Moda Vibe Duo", and they stopped working within two months, while the customer service was responsive, the new pair they sent me were dead in less time. I have a pair of Sennheiser MM50 earbuds, no they haven't died yet, but their poor design and flimsy construction doomed them to the only in an emergency category. If you're in search of new headphones, make the leap you won't be sorry.』

『The sound is great, although they are not as comfortable as the Etymotic Research ER6i Isolator In-Ear Earphones (Black) I used to have for my iPod.

The main problem is that they failed on me twice, with the same problem: suddenly with no bad treatment on my part, no more sound on the right ear. The first time, customer service sent me a replacement right away, but the second time they didn't bother answering.

Updated: the customer service is actually great, they had a little delay, but they are sending me another pair, no questions asked. I will give them another chance!
