The hard two piece ones are too hard and actually scratch the body more from grime that gets stuck in the case. They also don't have much shock protection for when you drop it. Never liked how any of these looked either.
Than I saw the speck candy shell. Looks nice. It's a one piece case. Gummy in the inside with a thin hard outer coat. The best of both worlds.

(Only one small problem with this otherwise excellent case) 『This case is stylish and does an excellent job securing and projecting your iPhone. The belt clip is much sturdier than most cases, and has not come off my belt once as quite a few other cases for assorted lighter phones have. The ratchet on the belt clip is also a nice feature allowing you to further customize the angle of the phone case in relationship to the belt clip.
People who saw this case commented on just how good it looked, and it does look like a very expensive item. It is a very luxurious way to protect your iPhone.
My only downside here with this case is a minor complaint. Because the case is two parts, one part attaching to the iPhone and that then sliding that into the other part of the case with the belt clip, forget about quick removal of the iPhone. This prevents fast use of the iPhone for something like taking pictures and receiving calls. If you use a wireless headset or earpiece this will not bother you when taking calls, but if you need quick access to your device for other reasons this could be a negative factor.
Overall though I am very happy with this case! It covers little of the basics so the book isn't useful to beginners. But the book's examples are mundane and "internet quality" - meaning I can find any of these example snippets with a simple internet search. Most of the book is actually example code with little text explanations. I find myself skipping through pages and pages of code - how many times do I need to see class declarations, import statements and properties declared and synthesized? Leave that material out of the book and leave it where it belongs - in the code. This book would be 1/2 the size and still not worth the read.』
(Factual, not fun to read...) 『I didnt find this book very readable. The author focuses on too many facts and there is no build up in examples or any flow as you go through the chapters. Sometimes concepts are used w/o explanation and maybe the author assumes that the reader is familiar with either Cocoa or XCode. If you are not familiar with Objective-C, which has a pretty interesting syntax (if you are a C/C++ or a Java programmer the experience would be the same) then this book may not work for you. The author covers these topics very quickly jumping through different concepts.』
(Should be labelled a "Galley Proof") 『It's not uncommon when dealing with rapidly evolving and trendy technologies to see publishers pull out all the stops and rush relevant titles through the publication process, but this title is worse than most. The organization is terrible, the prose is rambling, the examples are trivial at best, and the illustrative screenshots were done so quickly that real-world names and data have been "redacted" with black lines. This book should be labeled a "rough draft" or "galley proof" and should never have made it to a bookshelf. There are a few, isolated, redeeming qualities, such as a decent chapter on iPhone file systems and database integration, but they are the exception and not the rule. It's a shame, too, because if Ali had spent more than five minutes per page, he might have been able to generate some real, relevant copy. There's an updated version coming toward the end of 2009, so may it be better then. But as a collegiate instructor who has taught iPhone development, there are far far better titles to spend your money on.』
(not an effective learning book) 『I bought this to get started with iphone development. I am an experienced web and .net developer. The book takes a sequential approach, starting with objective-C stuff, moving into iphone development concepts. I read through the objective-C stuff, and started typing in the first iphone example. It didn't work and it was very unclear how to get it running. Also the code example (as other reviewers have pointed out) are horribly formatted with proportional font. Another critical issue is that it seems to written with no view to practical application, for example, the first examples build UI element from code as opposed to introducing the InterfaceBuilder tool.
If you are programmer looking to get into iphone development, I do not recommend this book. I instead got the "Mark/LaMarche" book which is much better structured and I am learning much faster with that one.』

Very strong signal quality (some times strong enough to overpower surrounding FM signals). I was very impressed with the product. The only issue was that it is incompatible to the iphone, which did not bother me because I still got my calls and the music faded into the background on incoming calls.
However 2 months later, one of them just died!!! I can see the LCD, change the channels and even charge the iPhone, but NO FM Transmission. It is pretty much a car charger for the iPhone.
The other one works pretty erractically - once in two weeks the LCD just goes blank, do FM transmission, no charging - nothing, just dead!!! The next day, it will work just fine, as if nothing is wrong with it...
I do hope they have improved the quality of their product....』

(Very Pleased) 『I am very pleased with the Satechi transmitter and charger. I had been using a "Griffin" I bought a year ago from WalMart for about the same price as I paid for the Satechi. The Griffin has a much weaker signal and does not fit snugly into my iPhone. Consequently. I was reduced to trying to find the best placement for it in my car to get the best signal and, more often than not, found myself riding down the road having to hold the unit together to get an adequate signal. And, after a two hour trip, my battery was significantly discharged. Very frustrating. Not so at all with the Satechi. First, it transmits a strong signal and I get clear and loud audio from my iPhone. It fits snugly into the socket on my iPhone - there're no static nor scratchy noises, and it doesn't tend to work itself loose going down the road. And, with the charger, after a two hour trip, I'm fully charged. Plus, it all rides on the seat next to me or in my cup holder with no problem. A refreshing improvement in the experience over the Griffin. The shipping was faster than I had expected, too. This sounds like a damn commercial, but it isn't.』

They are certainly easier than other means of getting your iPod to connect with a non-hardwired car radio. Cassette adapters, if you radio is so equipped, are clunky. FM modulators are expensive and require installation. On the other hand, the sound quality of many FM transmitters, especially in crowded urban markets, is notoriously mediocre. All that said, when I purchased this unit for my wife's iPhone I was pleasantly surprised. Installation was simple. It tucked right into the bottom slot on her iPhone 3G and stayed there snugly, despite the hard case. Even more surprising was the audio quality which was actually quite good. This BlueHarbor case is the FIRST leather iPhone case that really WORKS for me. The leather is durable yet soft. The contrasting stitching adds that extra "high-end" style to it. I use a protective hard case with my iPhone which adds a bit to its size, but both fit easily in this case. The magnetic clasp is much better than the usual velcro snap so I don't hear this "rrrrip!" sound when I take my iPhone out. When I bought the iphone, I bought a clear Speck protecting cover and a skin to go over the screen. So when I wanted a case to clip on my belt, I was looking for one that would work well with these. Other cases I have tried were too thin to work with the speck (which I like and knew I didn't want to give up).
When I saw the review for this product and that it worked well with a frogz protector, I thought I had found an answer. Nope.
This case is nice, and works as advertised. But I found out that it is difficult for me to pull it out of the case with one hand. It's just too tight. I ended up finding a case at lowly WalMart. Imagine that. I was able to test them in person at the store.
My advice is that if you are about to buy an iphone, spend some time talking to friends and researching the legion of skins, protectors, and cases that are out there to buy, and how they will all interact in combination. Pay close attention to those that carry the phone like you plan to, like, do they store it in a purse? Or in the pocket? or on a belt clip case? The way you use it will dictate the type of protection you use.
For me, I need a balance of protection against a drop and ease of one handed use.』
