(Poor Support and Product Fails to Work After Short Period)

『Bought the adapter about 6 months ago. It died after about 3 months. After trying for about two weeks to get to their support to respond they sent me a replacement. The replacement died after about a month. I have spent over a month trying to get another replacement through emails and telephone calls with no luck. Their support is terrible and evidently the adapter has an extremely short life. Don't count on their support or their products if you buy from them.』

(iPhone defender case is too snug)

『Getting your iPhone defender case into this armband will be a challenge. Strangely though, the iPhone without the case is a perfect fit. It appears that the armband is designed to fit a whole host of otterboxes of varying size, with the iPhone defender case on the larger end of what is compatible.

I recommend searching for an armband you can use without the defender case, unless you are adamant about not removing the iPhone from the case.』

『This is an excellent armband for use with the otterbox defender case. After I got my iPhone and defender case I thought for sure I was going to be stuck either with some universal case that didn't fit very well or I would have to remove my iPhone from it's protection to put it in a less protective armband that provided no protection from the elements when outside running. The only thing that I have found so far that keeps me from giving five stars is that the band gets a little distorted after a few uses, but that could just be the type of material that it is. All and all I am very pleased with this product and would get it again if I needed a replacement.』

『I purchased the defender armband so that I could bike with my iPhone 3GS while it was in my otterbox defender case. Unfortunately, the third time I used it the silicon armband tore at the corner as I was securing the device. Otterbox was extremely accomodating in sending me a new armband even though I did not buy it directly from them. Be very careful when you stretch the molded silicon in order to insert your defender case. Stretching the silicon armband to secure the corner of the defender case, especially if you have any fingernails at all (I am a guitar player), can cause the silicon to tear straight through, redering the armband useless. I should think women with long fingernails should be particularly careful.』

『This is a decent product for the price but its not great. The HD radio feature does not work that well and that was the main reason I bought it. Perhaps HD radio is not ready for prime time. Im thinking regular AM/FM radio is good enough and perhaps a BOSE radio would have been better.』

『I was moved to write this review after seeing the review that said this wouldn't work as an alarm clock. I use it as a clock-radio/alarm clock everyday, between the sleep function at night and the alarm clock in the morning it is excellent. I particularly like that the alarm can wake up with a diferent station than the one I went to sleep too, so I can listen to soft jazz at night and NPR in the morning.

I live in the countryside so we only have one HD station (WPSU/2) but the sound is excellent compared to the old FM broadcasts we used to get.』

『This was very disappointing. The sound is decent, but I was shocked to find that Sony did not include a dock adapter for any version of the iPod. Adapters for the iPhone were included.

Not only was there no iPod dock, but Sony also does not ship batteries for the remote. I would look at competitive products.』

(Clock radio with a FAN??)

『This is my 2nd attempt at buying an ipod dock.

This review is to just point out one thing that I missed but you may already know. This unit has a FAN! The FAN is on whenever the unit is on. It's not particularly loud, but it's also not silent and can be pretty distracting!

A fan in these kind of audio devices, especially a clock radio that's mean to be used in the bedroom, is just not acceptable!! We all know what happens to fans, they become louder and louder and breaks down eventually (sooner than you think it would, trust me. I have 2 computer devices failed because the fan failed in one way or another). Audio devices needs to be silent, period.

The power brick also emits a humming noise, although you have to listen closely for it. If you stand up and it's on the floor, you probably won't hear it. But I imagine it can be easily heard in the night if it's in your bedroom.

Other than the above 2 fatal flaws, the unit is pretty nice. Sound quality is quite good, the FM tuner is good, and the controls are fine. The antenna input is a standard F-type connector, so you can use your own antenna if you want.

I end up getting the cheaper Sony ICF-C1IPMK2 which I am very very happy about. I'll put up a review shortly.』
