(Hilarious Comedy)
『This movie is deservedly a classic, but to me it's one of the great comedies of all time. I saw it in the theater when it was released, since on TV. I first saw it with 2 Catholic close friends. They were terrified. But when Linda Blair's head started spinning around, I just could not stop laughing. They looked at me and wondered, "What's wrong with him?" There are films I find really scary, most of which my wife is too afraid to watch (Hitchcock's Psycho, Jaws, Halloween, Alien), but The Exorcist always makes me laugh.』

(Scariest Movie..)
『Scariest movie yet Inaccurate and Offensive(antiCatholic-nasty scene) loosely based on a true story about a boy many years before. Lots of profanity and vomit, Yet yes it is very Creepy and Scary.』

(The scariest movie ever, reviewed on the scariest night of the year)
『Well, considering it's Halloween night and this is the last of my "31 Reviews For 31 Days of October" review-fest, I figure I'll end this countdown with one of the absolute most well-known horror movies of all time, and certainly one of the most horrifying, "The Exorcist". Although many quotes, stunts and ideas from this movies have been taken and parodied ("The power of Christ compels!" comes to mind.), this movie nevertheless has the power and terror that basically defines the horror movie genre.

Watching "The Exorcist" all the way through is more like an experience than watching a movie. For one thing, the general idea of the movie is a plausible concept, and having been to a paranormal speaker just last night, who ironically spoke of and showed a video of an exorcism for which she witnessed, this sort of thing is not entirely impossible, although it almost never happens. I don't want to dwindle on this part too much, but also regarding that I'm Roman Catholic, this movie definitely hits home with me.

But back to the movie itself. It kicks off with a scene that takes place in Egypt if I'm not mistaken, on an excavation dig with the foreign scenery setting a mood and atmosphere that carries throughout the whole movie. Starting the movie like this is an interesting idea, and a concept that hasn't been done too much by other movies, even though it works here. The acting throughout is phenomenal, alongside the special effects, which goes without saying. The whole movie plays out like a terrifying, dark, atmospheric nightmare and never loses its intensity or interest, even in the slower moments. I must say, even though I personally sometimes find it tedious to sit through a movie that goes over two hours long, I think "The Exorcist" definitely has the hudspah (spelling?) to make it pull you in for the whole thing. As dark and terrifying as this movie is, it most certainly still packs a brilliance, alongside talented writing and directing that makes it worth the watch.

In short, "The Exorcist" is a film that's just as horrifying as it is both groundbreaking and vastly interesting. Such a movie deserves to go down as one of the greatest horror movies ever made, and considering I'm a guy who's seen countless horror movies, I agree with that statement. Well, the review's about up, but for those that haven't seen such a heart-pounding, groundbreaking, interest-stirring movie yet, this is very highly recommended. And before you sleep, say some prayers just for safety!!! Happy Halloween, everybody, I'm off to smother myself in Halloween candies, household props and going around all evening in my pajama pants. Thanks for the time, and peace.』

(Try sleeping at night after watching this . . .)
『It's really hard to name every single horror film that's ever been made. Many deal with zombies, ghosts, serial killers, classic monsters like Frankenstein, and mutated species. Some are classic, others are mediocre, and several are ridiculous and dull. Out of all of them, only a few have been recognized as the greatest in the genre. The Exorcist, Psycho, and The Shining have been rightfully praised for the terrors that they have conveyed. Dozens of others have never topped them ever since they were released. While my favorite horror film of all time is actually The Shining, I can perfectly understand why The Exorcist is considered the best. First of all, is has an unusual storyline (back in the 70's, at least). Instead of ghosts or zombies or werewolves, it's demon possession. The body of a young girl is being controlled by a spirit from Hell. With every medical analysis being inconclusive, the mother has one last chance of bringing her daughter back. She brings in Father Karras, who has a crisis of faith, and Father Merrin, who has seen this sort of prediction when he visited Iraq.

So why is it that this is considered the scariest movie of all time. Well, the shock effects may be outdated to some, but it's the eerie atmosphere and the thought of being possessed that makes it truly horrifying. The silent, quick shots of the infamous "Captain Howdy" are also an addition to this ghoulish nightmare. You don't need loud and abrupt music or hardcore gore, all you need here is a creepy environment, a slow pace, and some fiendish dialogue from Regan/the demon. Mind you, there are some great modern horror films (such as Rec, The Evil Dead series, and the original Thai version of Shutter), but The Exorcist, The Shining, and Psycho are in top form when it comes to scaring the s*** out of you. The Exorcist, especially, is one that is truly scary because of its controversial subject matter. The finest, no doubt.

Grade: A+』

(Blu ray , In her soul ???!!!!)
『Ive watched the original VHS tape in 1991 , and then i saw the movie on dvd digital remastered , and thought there would be nothing better or could spread my heart ou like this dvd version .

WOOOOOOOW Bluray???? did we just saw the exorcist on blu ray , cant you imagine how it would be in Full HD with up to 7.1 surround and DTS true hd ?????

nope me too , just cant wait to see the blu ray version , yes yes dont miss it』

『Something beyond comprehension is happening to a little girl on this street in this house. A man has been called for as a last resort to try and save her. That man is the exorcist. Studio: Warner Home Video Release Date: 09/13/2005 Starring: Ellen Burstyn Linda Blair Run time: 132 minutes Rating: R Director: William Friedkin』
『Director William Friedkin was a hot ticket in Hollywood after the success ofThe French Connection, and he turned heads (in more ways than one) when he decided to makeThe Exorcistas his follow-up film. Adapted by William Peter Blatty from his controversial bestseller, this shocking 1973 thriller set an intense and often-copied milestone for screen terror with its unflinching depiction of a young girl (Linda Blair) who is possessed by an evil spirit. Jason Miller and Max von Sydow are perfectly cast as the priests who risk their sanity and their lives to administer the rites of demonic exorcism, and Ellen Burstyn plays Blair's mother, who can only stand by in horror as her daughter's body is wracked by satanic disfiguration. One of the most frightening films ever made with a soundtrack that's guaranteed to curl your blood,The Exorcistwas mysteriously plagued by troubles during production, and the years have not diminished its capacity to disturb even the most stoical viewers. Don't say you weren't warned!--Jeff Shannon

(Halloween.The Definitive Horror Movie-A Classic.)
『Halloween Parts 1 And 2, Are Definitive Horror Movie Classics,It is disturbing yes, Disturbing as you would see On any night of News Coverage on Television,or as Disturbing as People's everyday Declining Morals,But the movie is What Horror Movies Should be, Not meant to Glamorize Crime, but that there is Evil In the World sadly. This movie is not the typical Gore Zombie Movie,But it will creep you out!Not to mention the Eerie track!Donald Pleasence is awesome as is a Beautiful Jamie Lee Curtis Before she ruined her hair!』

(Fun To Watch)
『The first Halloween to me has a special meaning to me in that it was probably the first Horror movie I remember seeing. We used to watch this and laugh and quote scenes, and it was indeed frightening also don't get me wrong...but it had such a sense of humor and such lovable characters, there was more to this than just a slasher film.

Watching it as a grown up reveals so many flaws, we all know it was shot with a low budget by a young crew for the most part. Right from near the beginning when Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) is walking down the street you see trees that have green leaves on them all around, and then there's the mysterious rain that fell on Lauries block only apparently. Also Annie picks up Laurie at 6:30 p.m. when it's still pretty light outside, when in fact as I type this in Illinois it's only 6:15 p.m. and it's pretty dark outside. I am always hoping not to see a palm tree in the background, or the Hollywood Hills or something. Too bad they couldn't have shot the film at least in the midwest where it was set..today it was about 50 degrees and windy on Halloween, the trees that haven't shed all their leaves are a beautiful mix of yellow, orange, and red. The ground is littered with dead leaves wind blown or raked into piles on every street. It is a very amazing atmosphere in the fall with the changing of seasons. At least in the movie they are wearing sweaters and jackets to make it seem like there is a chill in the air.

Other than those minor issues perhaps, the film itself is really pretty good I think, the opening scene is the tragic night that started it all in 1963 as a young Myers stabs his sister to death. It then skips ahead to 1979 when Michael is locked up right before Halloween, and of course he manages to escape...which is a classic moment when the wonderful Dr. Loomis played by Donald Pleasance of course has had it up to here with excuses and why he was allowed to escape in the first place, Loomis is a nervous wreck throughout the film, with good reason. Him and the skeptical Sheriff are an oddball team at times trying to put a dent in Myers' rampage. Fav moment is Loomis staking out the old Myer's place and little Lonnie on a dare walks up to the front door and Loomis yells from behind the bushes...cracks me up every time I see it, and then while Loomis is enjoying his small victory, the Sheriff proceeds to scare the daylights out of Loomis.

A very interesting look at high school life in the late 70's also, with the trio of Laurie, Linda, and Annie. Laurie is the brains of the bunch, and one Ben Tramer is the object of her secret desire...but we never really see this character, can't help but think Ben doesn't know what he's missing in a smart, beautiful, shy...yet somewhat rebelious (smoking pot with Annie) Laurie Strode. Linda (played by P.J. Soles) is a favorite character also, a wild child, who smokes, lusts after boys, drinks beers, and says "totally" about a dozen times in the film. Just another reason to love this movie.

There's some violence of course, Micheal watches his victims, stalks his victims, and overpowers all that get in his way. To me it comes together with suspense and horror, plus a dash of comedy sprinkled in that make this one entertaining and totally fun to watch I think. Halloween just wouldn't be Halloween without seeing this one every year IMO.』

(Awesome)
『The video was new and in great shape. It arrived in a timely manner and the price was great. I would order from them again.』

(John Carpenter's movies are so awful)
『As a teenager I was enamored with films, particularly sci-fi and good horror. Everytime I saw a horror film and hated it, it was none other than directed by Carpenter. I don't care about the transfers, or the 1080 or the HD, I am basing this review on the film itself. Save the amazingly talented Donald Pleasence, perhaps in its day, this was terrifying. But when I saw it as a child, perhaps not too long after it was out, I was laughing at most of the film, on really how ludicrous it was. Absolutely terrifying to me is 'The Shining' or of course 'The Excorcist', this is just uniform B horror, and even that is giving it accolades it doesn't deserve. You can argue till the GOP find's a talking head not full of themselves that this was a unique approach to horror films which showed what you can do with a extremely minimal budget, a great score, and awful acting...use really grade school, first person type camera shots, and audience edge of your seat trickery...mehhh...give me 'Blair Witch' anyday....

Ridiculous. How many times is he going to come back to life, over and over and over and over and over and over again. The ending showing still shots of the house, some of the rooms in the house, MM's old house and heavy breathing......oh please...I know 14 year old's who make better cut films on their Hi-8's.』

Halloweenis as pure and undiluted as its title. In the small town of Haddonfield, Illinois, a teenage baby sitter tries to survive a Halloween night of relentless terror, during which a knife-wielding maniac goes after the town's hormonally charged youths. Director John Carpenter takes this simple situation and orchestrates a superbly mounted symphony of horrors. It's a movie much scarier for its dark spaces and ominous camera movements than for its explicit bloodletting (which is actually minimal). Composed by Carpenter himself, the movie's freaky music sets the tone; and his script (cowritten with Debra Hill) is laced with references to other horror pictures, especiallyPsycho. The baby sitter is played by Jamie Lee Curtis, the real-life daughter ofPsychovictim Janet Leigh; and the obsessed policeman played by Donald Pleasence is named Sam Loomis, after John Gavin's character inPsycho. In the end, though,Halloweenstands on its own as an uncannily frightening experience--it's one of those movies that had audiences literally jumping out of their seats and shouting at the screen. ("No! Don't drop that knife!") Produced on a low budget, the picture turned a monster profit, and spawned many sequels, none of which approached the 1978 original. Curtis returned for two more installments: 1981's dismalHalloween II, which picked up the story the day after the unfortunate events, and 1998's occasionally grippingHalloween H20, which proved the former baby sitter was still haunted after 20 years.--Robert Horton

(2 out of 3 is still pretty good)
『I loved the first NightWorld book and each of the three couples and their stories in it. This time around for NightWorld 2, only two of the three grabbed my attention. I didn't really care for 'Dark Angel'. I found it hard to get through that story, as I didn't like Angel or his manipulation on Gillian. I was worried that the other two stories 'The Chosen' and 'Soulmate' would lack as well.

I was happy to find that 'The Chosen' and 'Soulmate' were not disappointments and rank up (if not higher) with the first three stories from Night World 1. I really liked Quinn and Raschel's story. I liked seeing the 'bad boy' knocked off his high horse and join his soul-mate on the good side. I think that's why I liked Ash so much from Night World 1.

And I loved Hannah and Thierry. Their story was much more suspenseful and I really liked the reincarnated aspect of Hannahs story. And I think Thierry is by far the most romantic so far. I certainly hope we see him again in later NightWorld books. As Lord of the Night World, I think we will.

Definitely a great continuation in the Night World series and I very much recommend!』

(Fast read)
『The Night World series are fun to read. They can be a bit cheesy at points, but I still enjoy it! Predictable, but a really fast read. All the short stories have fun characters. Good to read in between the release of your favorite series.』

(Probably my favorite titles in the series)
『This is probably one of my three favorite titles in the entire Night World series aside from Daughters of Darkness. When I first read Dark Angel years ago, I thought the story was lacking and not decent enough, but recently I discovered that it was written in high school, so it could have explained why it wasn't up to par with the other books in the series. But I do suggest that you give it another chance because I ended up liking it, much to my chagrin.

As for the Chosen and Soulmate, absolutely love reading them. Highly recommended.』

(Addictive)
『You get going on these books and don't want to quit reading. It is something to
really think about, "Is this really a fantasy??" Is it Possible??
I love stories like this, have others I enjoy also. Good reading

(What I expected)
『I loved this book. The second story, The Chosen, is my favorite. It has shades of the Buffy-Angel romance, but I am not sure who created that story line first, of a vampire hunter/slayer falling in love with a vampire. Maybe someone was reading L.J. Smith and thought it would be better than the silly feature film. Who knows? Everything I loved in the first collection, I loved in ths one! Yes, it is well worth the small price! I was pleased with the romance and the cameos from characters in the first book. Dark Angel does the most for furthering the entire story arc, and Soulmate starts with a bang and keeps you waiting for more! I am so happy I didn't have to wait for these books seperately! It is so nice to finish one and go right into the next! I can't wait for April of 2010 for the finale!』
『This inexpensive omnibus contains three paranormal thrillers about vampires, shapeshifters, werewolves, and witches. Night World 2 asks provocative questions not often posed: What happens when a guardian angel turns out to be something less and much more frightening? What do you do when your mortal enemy is revealed as your soulmate? And can the Lord of the Night World's love save you from a foreordained death? Nonstop thrills.』

(Poorly written, for young teen girls ONLY!)
『What a bunch of drivel. Teen romance has fallen to a new low. But now all the longing and teen angst is directed at a vampire. Only my interest in how this author addresses the vampire lore kept me reading. It took me two MONTHS to get through these books when it should only have taken two days. I couldn't force myself to keep reading. Only a bad cold that had me confined to bed left me bored enough to finish. I can't imagine how they ever decided to make this series into movies. I guess when money talks, talent walks.』

『RECOMMEND RETAILER Great service from retailer who promptly delivered product, package in a way as to not damage product further.
RECOMMEND AURTHOR I am amazed at how much the author improoves her writting skill after her first book, the story will easily become a classic.
However I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT as BINDING IS INFERIOR. It is an unfortunate thing that todays publishers can get away with such inferior product, the binding is uneven and I suspect will show wear easily. Because of this I was left feeling very disappointed.

『Wow, so I must say these books are the worst things I have ever read. They are so predictable, I knew what was going to happen by the time i had read the first book. But the most upsetting thing to me was what the author did to Vampires, honestly I am waiting for her to write some book about leprechauns that stand 6"6 and and carry around pots of rhinestones. (I Just Loved This Book)
『The book was great and in my opinion better than the show!! I love how its narrated by Sookie, that gives me a chance to understand her better and understand why she is the way she is. I have read every book in the series and I must say each one was just as interesting as the next. Alot of Season 1 was derived from the book but it still has it own twist and turns. I dont want to type any spoilers but I do recommend it, it is a good enjoyable intense read.』

『The plot was good, but it took a while to get into it, unlike the other books, where you can see Charlaine got used to writing the character and took more liberties with language and explicit material. She seemed to take a while to get to the point in her writing, but that is my only complaint. Otherwise, it would have gotten a perfect score.』

(Mind Blasting)
『I loved this book. I have to say, I started watching the series first. After falling in love with True Blood, I had to check out the books. AND WOW, I am glad I did. The book is so fun to read, with laugh out loud pages all the way through. I think I love the books now more than the show. But the show did a great job matching Actors to the characters in the books. I am now hooked screen and paper.』

(Awesome book)
『You will want to read the whole series. It is a book series that you will want to read just to see what happens next. You won't be able to put it down.』

(I forced myself to finish it...)
『I'm still rather surprised at how huge this series has become. Surely it should be an amazing bunch of books to be so beloved. However, I had to force myself to finish this book. I've read the sample several times and never wanted to continue, but I finally decided to give this book a chance.

As a fan of the genre, I asked myself several times why this book (save a few choice pages) wasn't listed under young adult fiction. It just can't compare with other series in this genre. The plot was simple and cliche, the characters immature and flat, and the dialogue cutesy and shallow.

Has the author read any other vampire fiction? I really fail to see why Bill sleeps under a layer of dirt in the cemetery outside his house. Very little was explained, even the things that ask you to suspend what you know as vampire basics.

This book was everything I would have expected of a young adult book, but there is a reason I don't read YA fiction. I was literally falling asleep when I realized the bad guy was about to be revealed and I had to stop and think twice about whether I should shut off for the night or push through and finish up. That's how boring the whole thing was.

『Sookie Stackhouse is just a small-time cocktail waitress in small-town Louisiana. Until the vampire of her dreams walks into her life-and one of her coworkers checks out....

Maybe having a vampire for a boyfriend isn't such a bright idea.

A fun, fast, funny, and wonderfully intriguing blend of vampire and mystery that's hard to put down, and should not be missed. (Susan Sizemore)

Harris writes neatly and with assurance. (New York Times Book Review)

(A bit forced)
『I think this game is, most likely due to the new developers, merely trying to "be" a Silent Hill game, in every way except for the music. Mr. Yamaoka is an excellent musician when it comes to the Silent Hill series, but this forced game isn't worth being a platform to deliver said music.

The way that Silent Hill symbols, such as the Seal of Metatron are thrown about with seemingly no regard to their symbolism (i.e., Alessa making a floating Seal, to dispel fire, somehow, for some reason, which is just stupid. It would be like Jesus making a cross symbol to scare away a dragon, just nonsense, really.) was most likely due to the new developers going "Oh, goody, we can place Silent Hill items anywhere we want, a-one here, a-one here, and a-one here...", because they have never worked on Silent Hill before, and thus can't know it so thoroughly as the original developing team/s. The game is abound with "creepy little girls", but "creepy little girls" have never really been creepy, just silly, and since when did Silent Hill use such canned "scare tactic" type spooks? Right here, that's when.

The levels are full of locked doors, as usual, but now it is pretty much just every door between the door you came in through, and the farthest door from you in the new hallway, because instead of the maps being deceptively confusing, springing locked doors on you when you least expected it, they are actually extremely linear. They just hope you will try every door you come across between those first and farthest doors, so you can see how many locked ones they threw in.

Sure, the new developers were "real" developers, but it was pretty much a bunch of Silent Hill fans who had (hopefully) played the original games being allowed to make their own game and put the title of Silent Hill on it, which ultimately gives it a stilted, "fan-made" feel.

I could do that, and you could do that, and they would both be terrible, because we don't make the Silent Hill games, Japan's Team Silent does!

In regards to the items, having TVs, Toasters, and Typewriters in your inventory is pretty silly. Even though characters in other games could have hundreds of pounds of items, if you sort of discounted weapons, the inventory items you carried around weren't overly large. Maybe James had big pockets, I don't know, but he never needed to carry around televisions in case he felt like throwing one.

Edit: I also wonder if even the music is not as it *could* be, if Mr. Yamaoka was given some real, quality Silent Hill material to work with, instead of "Hey, can you make us another song for another dark evil hospital? And after that, a dark foggy night, if you would be so kind."

Almost everything I said above can also apply to Silent Hill: Homecoming, but that game had some really amazing graphics in it's defense.』

(Silent hill origins)
『The game was in good shape and arrived on time. The game itself is just-
Ok』

(Survival horror.)
『I like this game because it stays true to the Silent Hill series. You can find some flaws if you want to, but at least the creators of this game have put out a faithful chapter in the series. There are puzzles and limited ammunition and strategy. It hasn't turned into a shooter like some other horror games. Kudos to the makers of Silent Hill, I say.』

(A generally traditional Silent Hill entry with some unique elements)
『Silent Hill fans should by now have adapted to the fact that there are now various chefs cooking up new titles for the franchise. The first title to show the benefits of this diversity was Silent Hill Origins. Molded in general gameplay style around the traditional 3rd-person survival-horror adventure format, it also introduced some changes to the formula.

Firstly, the game manages to carry over the expected visual sophistication of the series to the PSP system. Only the less exquisitely detailed faces of in-game characters indicate a change in design priorities for the new title.

The game also controls very well in the classic Silent Hill mold of exploration interspersed with deliberately paced moments of combat. Origins adds in a near-universal system of weapon durability (the unique Silent Hill 4 introduced specific weapons that could break), as well as a great host of items about the environment to repurpose as weapons or even to throw at enemies. Not all is perfect here, however, as the attempted balance between breakable weapons and new weapon availability breaks down as one's inventory overflows with dozens of sticks, bars, and even multiple small TVs. Durability becomes less of an issue, replaced by awkward inventory management.

Another change is to the replayability and ranking systems of the game. Replacing the "10-star" ranking of older SH titles is a new set of challenges to meet (similar to Xbox 360 achievements). Each one in turn rewards a significant new unlockable, including weapons and several optional costumes for main character Travis.

Which brings us to the all-important "fun factor". Silent Hill Origins is not only a competent SH entry built natively around the PSP, but is also surprising fun to replay. After a challenging first playthrough, subsequent plays can be accomplished quite quickly and the unlockable weapons and different endings are worth the trouble to earn.

(Just when I was about to give up on PSP.)
『Finally a game that's worthy of gaming time. I just returned GOD of War which SUCKED and I was thinking GTA and Tom Clancy stuff are the only ok games on PSP when I saw this on sale for $9.99 at Gamestop. I periodically check for upcoming Resident Evils for PSP which aren't coming yet. This game takes me back to the old school style Resident Evils that I loved. I've barely started and all I can think is GREAT GAME.』
『The renowned Silent Hill survival horror series comes to a portable gaming system for the first time with a brand new adventure. Taking full advantage of the PSP system's graphics, sound, and portability, Silent Hill Origins will be the most terrifying game to arrive on a handheld system.# Spooky new effects and visuals never before seen in a Silent Hill game# New "Barricade System" allows players the ability to block off rooms from enemies# Enhanced camera system that improves the action and controls designed specifically for the PSP system# Brand new puzzles and mysteries to uncover』

(Maybe not for everyone but worthwhile for those with patience)
『I have been playing this in the middle of the night when the family goes to bed with some candles lit and the lights off. The experience is akin to reading a book with a vague but enticing plot with motion controls and CSTICK exploration. The attention to accuracy is exceptional and the sense of isolation and dread this game invokes in the right environment is downright creepy. Wii graphics have rarely looked better particularly the climbing scnes and a big plus for me is the excellent sound design throughout. The controls are not broken nor butter smooth just functional and implemented to push you down a fairly linear story that dodges, and weaves, and satisfies. I am surprised to find a game like this on the Wii as the market for titles with this much reading, factual history, and introspection required of its participants is almost microscopic. Give it a chance you might like it we need more like Cursed Mountain on every system anyway.』

(Great Graphics, Interesting Storyline...weak controls)
『Cursed mountain is a very well illustrated game that conveys the sense of being in an isolated and virtually abandoned Tibetan mountain village that has fallen under some kind of evil curse. I like the use of references to Tibetan culture and hope that more game designers began to work to bring more of these exotic cultures to life. I think the game could have benefited from using more of the rituals, for instance the Tibetan death ceremonies in the storyline and relying less on a "seek objects and do battle" format. Just walking around this local is interesting, until you have to do battle with the ghosts who have taken over the town.

As good as the Wii can be at some things, I find that combat is not always one of them. These battles involve coordinating several remote actions. Once you have added a spiritual component to your pick axe, (which happens very early in the game) you have to manipulate both the remote and the nunchuk in order to successfully combat the phantoms. The C button on the nunchuk must be depressed so that you can use your third eye and activate your spirit weapon. The B button on the Wii remote is pressed to fire your weapon and the A button must be held down to do rituals which involve moving the remote and/or nunchuk in specific ways to dispel the ghost once it is wounded.

This would be great if the Wii remote worked better. Finding the cursor (as you probably know from playing other games),especially with hungry ghosts bearing down, can be as challenging as aiming it. At other times your are able to aim it, but nothing happens in the game. The movements needed to completely dispel the ghosts are complicated and it is very hard to know whether you are doing them wrong or if the remote is just not fully conveying them. I found what works best is a frenzy of heavy shaking in all directions (including a strong wrist snap forward since this is the remote/nunchuk's weakest direction).

Seeing during combat is another issue. You are always following your character rather than seeing through their eyes. The + control pad is supposed to change to first person, but it doesn't do much and can not be used with the third eye in battle. The minute the third eye is activated your movement is also curtailed. When the attacker is close, you often find yourself blocking your own view of combat and looking at your back. Moving to the side makes it very hard to aim your weapon correctly.

Perhaps my least favorite thing about the game is that you are forced to submit to the auto-save feature. I hate games that make you replay major sequences over and over. To me that is boring, and very frustrating when you are forced to repeat major battle scenes.

As Wii games go, Cursed Mountain is a very good looking game, with excellent graphics and sound. It is reasonably enjoyable even with the flaws. Exploring the exotic locals and learning about Tibetan culture are interesting enough to make this worth playing.

(Cursed controls and tedious game that could have been much better)
『I have finally given up on Cursed Mountain. Not because it is too hard, because it isn't. Not because it has a terrible story, because the story isn't bad. It's the controls, and boy did the controls break this game. I don't know how far I am into the game, but it doesn't feel very far and I just have to give up.

PROS:
+++ Atmospheric graphics and sound
+++ Some genuinely creepy stuff
+++ Really cool concept

CONS:
--- Sluggish, unresponsive controls
--- Tedious level designs made worse by the slow and sluggish controls.
--- Very low resolution graphics. Looks good on a low-end TV but on my hi-def TV the textures are blurry and blocky.

GAMEPLAY: You play a mountain climber that must find his brother that disappeared on a mountain deep in Asia. Essentially, this is a survival horror title, and it has much in common, good and bad, with other games in the genre. Go around, smash pots, find glowing items to pick up, kill ghosts with you magical ice axe, use your third eye to see ghosts and blast them with your ice axe, and use wii-waggle gestures to break seals/spells. Somehow this should all work, but the gameplay does not feel polished enough. The game started to feel tedious very quickly, but I think the biggest issue is how the controls and gameplay intersect. The lack of level maps or exploration maps also annoyed me.

GRAPHICS: Sometimes the graphics look great and other times you feel like you are stuck in a low-res pixelated mess. The only saving grace to this game's graphics is the fact that the developer has some talented artists who can make low-res textures fit together nicely into an atmospheric ambiance.

AUDIO: Quite good. The voice acting of the main character and the monks is forced and strained, but the ambient audio effects and music are actually done amazingly well. Definitely the most polished aspect of the game.

CONTROLS: Sluggish and unresponsive. The old Resident Evil games feel more responsive than this game. I can walk faster than the main character can run, which makes no sense because the main character is professional mountain climber. Mountain climbers are nimble and strong. This guy feels like someone nailed his feet to the floor. The climbing sequences feel bland. The camera isn't bad but it isn't very good either. Combat is fairly uninspired and the collision detection for attacks makes no sense. Sometimes I manage to hit targets that I obviously missed while other times attacks seem to pass through without effect. I might as well flip a coin.

VALUE: I couldn't stand to play any more after only a few hours, so I don't rate the value of this title very high. I understand the game is fairly short based off of other reviews that I have read.

I was really looking forward to this game, but now that I've had a chance to play it I am pretty disappointed. I feel like the game wasn't quite finished, rushed out the door before the proper level of polish could be applied. I really hope to see this developer create another game, but I just hope they do a better job of it before putting the game out for sale.』

(Deep Silver knows how to scare ya)
『Too many games today are commericalized and not enough are done for the art form.
Cursed Mountain delivers where other fail or whatever.
That first ghost scared the daylights out of me =)
I got this game on a whim I know for fact the Deep Silver developer guy talking about this game over at Gamespot video had me laughing. 3rd party games on the Wii is what makes the Wii great. Looking for fast twitch muscle spazams or First person shooter games don't buy Cursed Mountain. Similar to RE4 in a way but I only played it for a hour the background music or ambient music is worth the price alone.』

(Its about time for wii)
『Great game for brand ip sorry 360 ps3 and they always hating on wii . wii fans go by it support wii so we rise higher after all this is the battle of the consoles.』
『This survival horror game follows an experienced climber who sets out to scale a huge mountain in the Himalayas in order to find his recently-lost brother. As he ascends the mountain, he encounters an ancient curse: the souls of the people who died in that region are stuck in limbo, caught in the Shadow World. Players must content with villagers, pilgrims, mountaineers, Buddhist monks, and evil ghosts and demons as they unravel the mystery of the location. And for what? The climber isn't at all convinced that his missing brother is still alive...』

(The RE that started it all!)
『It doesn't matter if you are a fan or a first time RE player. I wish I got it before, but never got around to buying a GC. To the true die hard RE fans this Remake is pure brilliance. I love the voices, characters, and breathtaking cinematics. Resident Evil is not a game you should over look because even for fans of RE there's new stuff to enjoy. I strongly recommend this to anyone seeking a survival horror game!』

(UCK)
『I liked Res Evil 4 and got this one and I just don't like it. I mailed it to my sister because I disliked it so much. I DID like that you could choose to be a female character but I have the same complaints as others (and THOUGHT I could get passed) about the controls. I like the character to be right in front of me and I am shooting from behind it. I don't like watching my character from a distance. Just preference.』

(Still worth your time....)
『it is what it is.... still an xcellent port that deserves your attention... fan or not.

5 stars, nuff said.』

(The old made new)
『So this game is almost exactly like Resident Evil 1. You still have trouble seeing enemies coming at you down the other end of the hallway. There are puzzles everywhere, and only limited inventory space, and limited ammo.

They did some things right though. The graphics are obviously much better. They got rid of the terrible acting job of the original and even managed to alter the set up of the mansion just a little. This game is for those who want to play the original without having to suffer through out dated graphics and bad acting. After having recently played the Director's Cut on the PS3, I wasn't in much of a mood to play the remake all over again. One of these days I'll go back and play it.』

(RE Review)
『I'm so glad that Resident Evil has returned to the Wii.It's even better than before, since the Wii controls are easier to handle, and there are new areas to explore.Resident Evil 4 set a very high bar that Nintendo will have a hard time reaching, but they've done a fine job with this one.』

『First, this is a great disc for demonstrating that Henry Mancini might have come to have a very different public image if Blake Edwards had not happened along! Hardly anyone knows that he began on Universal horror films. Second, Amazon has given him composer credit for every track here, but he did only two of them.

These tracks are not from original soundtrack recordings, but the performances by Dick Jacobs's Orchestra are spirited and competent and sound great - very 1950s. There isn't much available, actually, which IS 1950s horror or sci-fi, so this is a welcome collection just in that regard. Where else would one find anything from THE INCREDIBLE SHRINKING MAN, for example? The sound quality is immediate and dry in the way of pop records of the time, so don't expect to hear anything at all here similar to the huge, lush, Romantic recordings done by Charles Gerhardt beginning in the 1970s.

Although all of the selections are enjoyable, my favorites are the Salter and the Stein CREATURE excerpts (Salter's ascending 3-note motive for the "gill-man" is particularly memorable), the ferocious Dracula theme from James Bernard's HORROR OF DRACULA (first Hammer Christopher Lee/Peter Cushing Dracula film) and William Lava's title for THE DEADLY MANTIS. In fact, if it were not for this disc, I probably would never have realized that Lava had done the MANTIS score, because it is only the name of Joseph Gershensen, the musical director, which appeared in the film's opening credits.

This CD has a very short running time - less than 29 minutes. That upset me at first - enough, in fact, that I wrote to Varese Sarabande to complain, but I've since changed my mind. The time is short because 1) the original LP was short as was typical during the 1950s and 60s, and 2) for this re-release, Varese has excised sound effects which opened and/or closed the musical selections. Those that remain are not, in my opinion, obtrusive.

(This CD delivers the shivers)
『Nothing underscores the tempo and mood of a movie like good soundtrack music. In this CD, the listener is treated to a wonderful mix of genre music from Science Fiction and Horror films. Orchestra conductor Dick James makes the most out of instrument placement, musical arrangement and stereo separation.

If there is a downside, it can only be the absence of a theremin in"This Island Earth"and"It Came From Outer Space."Jacob opts for a jazz organ as an adequate substitute.

The only other problem is the occasional squeaky chair noises the musicians make. But this tends to give the music a"live"sound rather than studio perfection.

All in all, this is a wonderful collection that would accompany late night science fiction or horror reading perfectly.』

(Halloween Treat From The Legendary Team Of Rankin And Bass)
『The creative partnership of Arthur Rankin and Jules Bass were responsible for the creation of some of the most delightful holiday specials for television in the 1960's and early 1970's, with their Christmas and Easter offerings such as "Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer" and "Here Comes Peter Cottontail" now regarded as bona fide classics by successive generations of fans. The team produced only one "Halloween" themed story in the totally delightful "The Mad Monster Party" and it without fail every year made an appearance on our television during the holiday. Although Halloween itself is not really mentioned in the storyline of "Mad Monster Party" itself the combination of ghouls, favourite monsters from movie history and the marvellous Boris Karloff (voice only) make this film an ideal way to celebrate this holiday. Filmed in the wonderfully visual stop motion "Animagic" process so beloved of fans of this teams work "Mad Monster Party" like all Rankin and Bass specials boasts a first rate vocal team bringing the ghoulish characters in the story to life. Here we have the unusual combination of movie horror legend Boris Karloff providing the voice for Baron Von Frankenstein combined with funny lady Phyllis Diller voicing the other major character of the Monster's "Mate". The pair really make this film so enjoyable with their contrasting styles with Karloff's smoothly sinister delivery contrasting beautifully opposite Phyllis Diller's distinctive voice mannerisms. "Mad Monster party" is one of the very best of the Rankin and Bass efforts and shows the teams creative skills at their absolute peak making this ghoulish little effort which keeps it's tongue firmly planted in its cheek, an ideal way to enjoy Halloween evening..』

(I love this movie!)
『I was so happy with this transaction! I was looking for this movie and here it was and for a great price! I would buy from this seller again anytime!』

(monstamash relation?)
『just ok film which is the 1&only w/ the pet blob in its dog house brief scene near the end; dont know if it inspired the song monstermash or vice versa, still, unknown.』

(great classic)
『I admit I didn't open it yet, but I grew up watching Rankin&Bass animated shows and enjoy them so I'm sure I'll like this too!』

(It's (almost) alive!)
『Remember on Halloween when someone invariably handed out a pack of crayons or a small bag of pennies to trick-or-treaters? You were probably a little confused at first, then a little disappointed, but you probably used the crayons or spent the pennies anyway. Mad Monster Party is like Halloween crayons to me - not very exciting but certainly adequate.

The Pros: The sets and character designs are awesome - very detailed with
some mod 1960's touches (the Monster's Mate rocks a pair of white go-go
boots). The send-ups of classic Hollywood monster movies can be quite funny and clever, and the tongue-in-cheek nihilism of the ending makes for a memorable finale. In terms of the image and sound quality of the DVD, nothing seems to have been lost in the transfer from the original print and in fact may have enhanced the original audio/video experience.

The Cons: In between the gags and humorous references lies filler in a plot costume. In my opinion, the plot here is a distraction - Dr. Frankenstein is ready to retire and chooses his nebbishy nephew Felix as his heir. The monsters disapprove and in a series of alliances and betrayals attempt to exterminate the interloper. It's all rather uninteresting to me and kind of superfluous as the best parts (the titular party where a skeletal band plays and a monstrous food fight takes place; the picnic in the jungle where Dracula unsuccessfully tries to ambush Felix) seem to happen extraneous to the plot. In addition to the weak plot, the songs are tolerable but not very memorable. I doubt you'll be humming these tunes after the credits roll.

If you happen to find this DVD in your Halloween goodie bag, appreciate it for what it is, have a little chuckle, groove to the retro score, then gorge on the fat and calories of richer Halloween treats like Nightmare Before Christmas and Corpse Bride.』

『Love the classic monsters Frankenstein, the Mummy, Dr. Jekyll, the Creature, Dracula, the Werewolf, and the Invisible Man? They're all here in this animated, 90-minute video--and so are the vocal talents of Boris Karloff and Phyllis Diller. After discovering the secret of destruction, Baron von Frankenstein is retiring as head of the World Wide Organization of Monsters. He's handpicked his mortal nephew Felix to be his successor, and his fellow monsters are less than pleased. Even though Felix politely declines to carry on this family tradition, the monsters band together and double-cross one another in comic attempts to expel Felix from the group.

The "Rankin/Bass Animagic process" of using stop-motion photography with three-dimensional figures makes this video a visual feast for animation buffs, but it is outdated compared to modern animation techniques. Humorous details, like the count looking into a mirror to comb his hair and seeing only his comb reflected, permeate the video and will have viewers chuckling out loud and on alert for potential missed laughs. This video is best for children from about 5 to 12 years old or adults who want to reminisce over a movie viewed in their childhood.--Tami Horiuchi

(Be prepared for emotions)
『This movie is plain sad - and, I don't mean the movie in general - this is a {Class A} Godzilla movie, however, the only Godzilla movie that brought me to tears. Yes, I know it is only a movie, and Godzilla is just a man in a rubber suit - but, still... the ending sequence of the movie, where a flock of birds are made to lure poor Godzilla into a volcano, to supposedly die, well, it's just damn heart-wrenching!!! I swear, I cry every time at the end, and of course the ending music's sad as well, just makes it hard not to cry. Yes, I'm a 37 year old woman, and I cry to a dang Godzilla movie - so, I can't help it. The only other movie that makes me cry is at the ending of Dot and the Kangaroo - so, there you go.』

(GODZILLA FANS UNITE - BRING 1985 TO DVD!)
『THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST GODZILLA MOVIES EVER MADE! WHY HAS THIS ONE BEEN LONG OVERLOOKED FOR DVD RELEASE? GET ON THE STICK AND GET THIS DONE!』

("When Mankind Falls Into Conflict With Nature Monsters Are Born.")
『Thirty years later and it's still about radiation and models.

"Godzilla 1985" is a slightly updated version of the classic Godzilla movie: it's still a guy in a big rubber suit stomping around detailed models, and he's still embroiled in a plot with heavy-handed doses of the Japanese skepticism of radiation. (Given their history, I don't blame them.)

Here Godzilla once again emerges from the sea, and poses a peril to mankind. The Soviets defy the wishes of the Japanese government and launch a nuclear weapon at Godzilla despite the fact that he happens to be in Tokyo at the time. Collateral damage, anyone? The US military fortunately dispatches the Soviet missile with a missile of their own, while consulting with Raymond Burr who is reprising his role as Steve Martin. Burr advises that firepower is not the answer, and that a deeper understanding of Godzilla's motives are key to defeating him. With that in mind they immediately plan to lure Godzilla into a volcano.

Along the way we get to see some special effect typical of the genre. My personal favorite is the "Super-X" secret levitating craft, although Godzilla's encounters with the model boats, helicopters, planes, and buildings are still fun to watch. The best laugh of the movie comes from the drunk guy running from Godzilla after mistaking him for a restaurant waiter repeatedly. (I'm not making that up.) There is another customary device in this movie, namely, everyone in Japan seems to know everybody else. True to form, plot contrivances abound here.

The movie ends with Godzilla in the volcano, although we aren't totally sure whether or not lava can destroy him, as there is always another sequel right around the corner. Please note the sanctimonious voiceover work from Burr during the volcano-luring: it really wants to be deep, but it just doesn't work given the ridiculous onscreen image.

This is a great resurrection of the Godzilla franchise after a decade-long break. It is enjoyable if you like the giant-monster-attacks-models genre, which I do. For those fans I recommend the film wholeheartedly.』

(The legend completed)
『OMG, you have to get to the last scene and the closing theme. Man, I haven't laughed so hard in a long time. This is, clearly, not so much the legend reborn reinventing of the Godzilla myth that we'll see in the later series so much is it is the final say in the Godzilla we'd known and loved through the 60's and 70's; this film owes far more to the Kaiju of "Mosura" or "Smog Monster" than to the later epics. For one thing, this is probably the last time when SCIENCE is the hero, triumphing over beasts of men and monsters despite the lack of government funding ;)

True, the special effects in this film are a departure from the 70's fare, but that's what makes this film so special in the Godzilla cannon: It has the FEEL of a modern film but it has the ETHOS of the classical era. It is at once very modern and also quite at home with even the Godzilla's Revenge entries. I waited a long time to see this one (20 years!) and I was not disappointed. This film is, in many respects, "the missing link".

But that last bit, as soon as the techobeat started, I knew it was 1985 all over again, and when the lyrics hit? ... I'm still giggling. First class Godzilla, five thumbs up if I had them.』

(Ouch)
『There's not a lot to say about this movie except that the music is bad, the Godzilla costume is sad, his roar is terrible, and the story stinks.』
『In celebration of the 30th anniversary of the originalGodzillafilm, the lizard king returned to the big screen after a decade of inactivity for this 16th Godzilla feature. Originally released in Japan in 1984 asThe Return of Godzilla, this modern sequel sweeps away decades of sequels and even recaptures the awe and grandeur of the original film, while adding modern technology and increased military firepower. But let's not get too carried away: this is ultimately a classic Japanese monster movie, and the best moments are the Big G's rampages through Tokyo, knocking over buildings and crushing cars and trains underfoot. It's still a guy in a suit stomping through lovingly detailed miniatures, and by American standards it'll always have that delightfully cheesy camp element, but this painstakingly crafted affair is one of the easier such efforts to take seriously. And fear not, you can't keep Godzilla down for long: he returns inGodzilla vs. Biollante. American distributor New World Pictures dubbed and trimmed the Japanese version while adding new American scenes featuring Raymond Burr, who reprises his role as reporter Steven Martin from the originalGodzilla. The videotape also features Marv Newland's goofy animated short spoofBambi Meets Godzilla.--Sean Axmaker

(Antics run high)
『Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Thomas F. Wilson and Lea Thompson gave an entertaining watch in this sequel to the Back To The Future franchise. Robert Zemeckis embraces the fun and the antics and I really enjoy his ability to tell a story.』

(back to future II)
『Very enjoyable - more complex than other 2: watch all three several times: you'll pick up something new.』

(We gotta go back in time to save the future that we messed up when someone went back to the past and screwed it up. Yep.)
『The day after Marty gets back from 1955, Doc leaves in the time machine to go the future to the year 2015, only to return seconds later (though much more time has passed for Doc). Something terrible happens in the future to Marty's son. Thankfully Marty and his son are the spitting image of each other so Doc has come up with a plan to have Marty take the place of his son for a few minutes to make a correct decision to prevent the bad incident from happening. But while they are in the future, the Biff we know from 1955 and 1985 overhears Marty and Doc talking about their time machine. So Biff decides to change his crappy life by stealing the time machine and going back to 1955 with a sports almanac with all the winners of every sport up to the year 2000. So when Marty and Doc make it back to 1985, it's a very different 1985 than the one that they left. After figuring out what happened, they must once again go back to 1955 to prevent the almanac from being used by Biff so they can save the future that they know. Whew.

I'm a huge fan of the second movie of the trilogy. It used to be my favorite of the trilogy. Probably because of the flying cars and the hover board. Also the more in depth time traveling was definitely nice to have, even though you had to suspend a little bit of belief of how time travel works. Because honestly if Biff goes back in time and changes time, then time should've altered while Marty and Doc were in 2015. To me, the 2015 scenes were cool, but the movie becomes a lot better when they go back to 1955 again. It was a lot of fun to see Marty watching himself do the things he was doing in the first movie. Like when you see him low crawling under a window of the car that part 1 Marty is sitting in with his teenage version of his mother from 1955. Also it was funny to see Fox play multiple characters in this movie such as his son, his older self and even his daughter from 2015. Also it was amusing to see the 2015 Biff ragging on his former 1955 self for being dumb and sounding like an idiot. And also seeing the son of Biff, Griff, was a trip too. Because he's basically the same type of bully his father was in 1955, but more juiced up because of robotic implants. It was even nice to see Zemeckis do an homage to part 1 by having almost the same skateboard scene from part 1 in this movie also, but a more futuristic version of it.

Though it used to be my favorite of the trilogy, I'm starting to lean more to part 1 being my favorite, but part 2 is definitely a close second. Once again, this movie is a classic also and I highly recommend it if you loved part 1.

P.S. - From the first time I saw this move to right now as I type this... I want a friggin hover board!

(bttf 2=the film that explain the other 2 in the trilogy)
『what i really like about this film isn't the future-which illustrated somewhat depressing and too artificial and even the characters look unreal or too much made-up. its the fact that this film explain the first film and doc mention in this film that the date 5th november 1955 is a special CORE DATE in the time phase and in all the trilogy. a date in which doc fell and got his head beaten by the sink and then he saw the vision and idea of time traveling,a date in which marty's parents meet and fall in love(which we learn in the first film),a date in which a lightening strike the clock tower and shuting it down and then in this way the marty from first film goes back to the future, and a date that from unknown reason the old beef choose to come back and give the almanac to his young self.from the day after this date, the 3rd movie begin and in this movie we learn more about this core date 5th november and see another angle of this day that we couldn't see in the first film, angle of the other marty that comes again to this date and see the marty from the first movie. this is the amazing part of this film esepecially when the marty from the future has to do his mision-getting the almanac from bif-without disturbing the marty from the first movie making his parents fall in love.
like this fictional core date i think everyone has a core date in their lives when so many important events happen, events that start alot of eras in the future and affect strongly on our lives.

the second interesting thing is the "TIME PARADOX",which is a philosophy of its own, that mentioned in the film.this paradox described by doc as something that destroy the time continum and the universe, but when u try to think what happens if the 2 martys meet and the circumstances its a complex theory of its own-beyond the films. i tried to think what happen if the martys meet and realized that if they meet and the marty from the future alter the actions of the marty from first film,he won't get back to the future(probabely by missing the lightning that strike the clock, and the marty from future wont get to the future and wont return to the past and so on....the whole film destroyed(or universe as doc mentioned)! thinking about all this circumstances is more complex then physics and other sciences,if time travel was a reality there would be a new science that deal with this.』

(Fun movie, but like "TimeCop" there are paradox's run amok here...)
『First off, let me say I don't hate this film, but compared to the "Original"&Part "III", this one fails, not because its bad, but because you really have to suspend belief big time here, like most SCI-FI fans I have always liked anything that deals with time travel, so many ideas to play with, but in reality time travel would be quite dangerous,&this film makes that clear in more ways than one, but is poorly executed&here's why....

For starters this one picks up where Part "I" left off with Doc carrying Marty&Jennifer into the future to 2015 to save their future son from being involved in a robbery that will get him life in prison, this would of course be inpulsive to stop this, but from a realistic standpoint Marty&Jennifer's removal from 1985 would have altered the future of 2015 where they would not exist because of their removal.

Secondly, let's ignore that logic for a moment, Marty buying a sports almanac in 2015 would be inpulsive for anyone, I mean hey, why not place bets in the past, right, well old Biff does this very thing by stealing the almanac&the DeLorean&goes back to 1955&gives the almanac to his younger self thus changing everything from that point foward, when he returns to 2015, he is dying, again, his actions would have altered Doc&Marty's Twin Pine mall meeting in the first film thus altering Marty's trip to 1955&their trip to the future in 2015.

Now, let's ignore that logic for a moment, the hellish 1985 is done quite well&Marty&Doc's culture shock is fun, but it should have been done differently, with Doc returning from 2015 with the almanac&the 1985 Biff going back to 1955 with the almanac,&Marty&Doc chasing him back before he could give it to himself, this would have been more plausible, again, I don't hate this one, but when dealing time-travel, you have to at least make it believeable, a pre-destination paradox is really the only way to do anything dealing with time-travel, "Star Trek" always did this quite well, as does the "Terminator" films where Arnold&Reese's trip to the past actually set up their futures,&"Star Trek" was always careful about this, as was the first&third "Back to the Future" films where nothing is really altered seriously as in the case of the first "Back to the Future" where Marty interupts his parents meeting but does manage to get them together.

Another flaw in Part "II" is the future scenes, like "TimeCop" they got it wrong, which in essence sort of kills the magic a bit, unlike "Star Trek" or the "Alien" films where the future is set hundreds of years ahead, predicting the near future is always never accurate, Kurt Russell's "Escape From New York" suffers from this as well as Kubrick's "2001" as does one of SCI-FI's best "Blade Runner" if your going to do the future, at least do it in a time where we are all gone.

I hate to nitpick, but no matter how enjoyable&fun "Back to the Future II" is, I feel they should have left the future alone, aside from this, this one is enjoyable, but Part "I"&"III" are more believeable.

『Critics and audiences didn't seem too happy with this inventive, perhaps too clever sequel to the popular 1985 comedy about a high school kid (Michael J. Fox) who travels into the past and has to bring his parents together (or lose his own existence). Director Robert Zemeckis and cast bent over backwards to add layers of time-travel complication to this follow-up, and while it surely exercises the brain it isn't necessarily funny in the same way that its predecessor was. It's well worth a visit, though, just to appreciate the imagination that went into it, particularly in a finale that has Fox's character watching his own actions from the first film.--Tom Keogh

(Not as bad as everyone said)
『This is the first Saw movie that I purchased on Blu-ray and it was also the first Saw movie that I did not go to the theater to see first. After all the negative reviews I read from critics and fans alike, I was hesitant to purchase it. But I now have a Blu-ray player and I wanted to keep my Saw DVD collection up to date so I decided to shell out the extra bucks for the Blu-ray. Although it's not up-to-snuff with the previous films (especially 1 and 2), I don't think it is nearly as bad as everyone said. Maybe it wasn't worth the extra bucks for the Blu-ray but overall I found the film interesting, full of good Jigsaw traps, and I found it fun to watch. I heard the "Saw 6" is much better but I most likely won't see it until the Saw 6 Blu-ray comes out next year. Bottom line: maybe just purchase the regular DVD of "Saw 6".』

(The curse continues...)
『There is a curse throughout horror movie franchises (or franchises in general) condemning the fifth episode to mediocrity at best, or unfocused, mundane nonsense at worst. The fifth episodes of the following franchises: Friday the 13th pt. 5 (the "Jason imposter" episode), Halloween 5 (that corny man in black gimmick), Star Trek 5 (the lame Shatner directed ep), Leprechaun (okay, that series sucked to begin with), Hellraiser 5 (Craig Scheffer as a debauched cop, while Pinhead is over on the sideline), Return of the Living Dead, Nightmare on Elm Street... the list goes on and on.

Saw V is no exception to this rule. After a cool opening involving an fbi agent ingeniously beating a jigsaw trap, we get scene after scene of Scott Patterson walking around with an angry look on his face, Costas Mandalor in an exceptionally stoic offering as Jigsaw's apparent heir, flashbacks that make no sense (the chronology of the Jigsaw/ Hoffman link is especially convoluted), drab photography that lacks the flair of the Wan/ Bousman directed offerings, and an ending that is telegraphed from pretty much the opening scene.

Even the relevance of the "game" is not explained until Kevin Greutert's superb Saw VI. As it stands, the subplot comes completely out of left field. People looking for ingenious traps better stick to the other sequels as Saw V hasn't a single interesting gadget throughout its running time. And if you're a Saw fan the plot developments are not so germane that subsequent films would be confusing if you haven't seen this one.

Saw V is about the only entry in the franchise I don't like, and further proof that the number "5" should be omitted from the franchise index.』

(Emtombing the ones you Loathe.)
『The games have just begun - that was the credo that empowered the Jigsaw killer and it is also the truth that keeps onkeeping on. Even after what happened to Jigsaw during the last test he gave to a former employee (or partner, or whatever you want to call her), Jigsaw still has a voice and hands to do his dirty deeds. He also has a thing about police officers that has been explained to us in vivid detail, and we find out why this is - if we haven't already pieced that together. There is another game being played as well, one that talks about working together and one that the team of people placed inside this horror don't seem to get, and that is the lovely part about so many of these things. People are such bad listeners - just play the tape and take the game seriously, because this is their lives. The traps here are nasty little things, too, and they are loveingly deceptive because they al;low people to see what they should do but give them the freedom to choose. It is perhaps there, in that freedom of choice, that people mmake their worse mistakes.
As Jigsaw would say, let the games begin.

I've taken to the movies well because I thought they were all done really well, overcoming things like budgetary confines by utilizing Tobin Bell and the saw puppet as things that make the flesh quiver. They also have traps that have duality stamped into their very being, and this duality allows the games to become things that seem to be one thing when they are, in fact, tests that measure other items. I always liked that, enjoying the fact that people are challenged to see the world in different ways, and that some people really do have the means to their liberation. And the ones that do not seem fair, almost unfairly doing things to people with no way out, we see exactly how that happens. And the answers to that are brutal, and unfair on so many levels. Combine with that the acting prowess of some of the individuals involved (I think it takes a lot to become a victim and sell it to an audience), the impact of lighting and music and tools like flashbacks, and the underlying terror that has to be there when you find yourself listening to a tape recorder or a doll that holds the keys to your survival and you have a game unlike anything I would ever want to play. and seeing the places where all of these games have taken place and the extent to which planning goes into everything and it is impressive. Even the first kill, one that happens because someone really doesn't listen, is good stuff. And i love it - i love it a lot.

If you watch Saw, watch them in order. They stack together well, and the plot that expands through-out the series is one to keep track of. Seeing how the helpers become involved, seeing the different type of handywork, and seeing why tests are given oftentime build over time. Even some of the people who fail are added into newer tests, so you count anything out. I personally like all of that, and i like how Jigsaw has some of the greatest lines in this new realm of horror movies. Even the 5th installment, which would normally be bad in any other series, is great here.
I love them all.』

(I No Longer "Want To Play A Game")
『In 2004, the original "Saw" film breathed new life into the horror movie genre. Though enticing viewers with some of the most graphic horror scenes in cinematic history, the real "hook" of the film was its morality-play plotline. Using a tact rarely taken in the annals of horror movies, Saw actually created doubt in the viewers' minds as to whether the "victims" were exactly that. Though perverse, the demented Jigsaw killer was doling out justice in a seminal way that everyone can relate to (even if it horrifies their "good side").

With each subsequent film, however, that magic has been lost, little by little. While Saw II just fed off the hype of the original and didn't mess with the formula and Saw III was interesting for the "dying Jigsaw" plotline, the two most recent installments have failed to recapture that spark of the "original trilogy". Saw IV was just outright confusing, while this film suffers from two major maladies:

First, the departure from the tried-and-true formula of regular citizens being tested in their weakest area. Like I said, the strength of the first few Saw movies was the writers' abilities to make audiences think about the morality of what was reality transpiring. This film, however, doesn't really take that tact and instead just focuses on clearing up all the loose ends from the fourth release. Though perhaps a noble cause for hard-core Saw fans, this line of storytelling only served to irritate me, as Saw IV was where I saw the series begin going downhill and thus didn't want to go in that direction again.

The other notable departure is a moving away from the Jigsaw character. To me, Jigsaw is at the very heart of what the Saw franchise is all about, and the series really isn't active unless he is in it. The flashbacks in IV were interesting, but Jigsaw's presence in V just seemed to be an excuse to bring back Tobin Bell, not to advance the plot in any meaningful way.

Thus, I see the Saw franchise as being at a paradox right now. One direction would be to continue on with the "Jigsaw lineage" and further dilute the original material (the likely path in order to please the die-hard scrutinizers), while the other, more inventive approach would be to come up with something new. Perhaps someone subjecting one of these psychopaths to their own devices?! At any rate, Saw VI will likely be the measuring stone of the "Saw future" considering the failure of this installment.』

『How do you keep a horror franchise going when your villain has been unquestionably and irrevocably killed off? That's a conundrum any number of genre series have tackled--to varying degrees of success--and the problem facing the sadisticSawfilms in its latest entry,Saw V. The filmmakers' answer--faithful henchmen--is at first blush a savvy idea, as it allows the mayhem of original bad guy Jigsaw to continue unabated, despite the fact that he was dissected on a morgue slab in the previous film.Saw Vextends the premise by having disgraced detective Hoffman (Costas Mandylor from the previous two films) don the pig mask to unleash horrific tortures on another group of seemingly unconnected strangers. Scott Patterson (Aliens in America) also returns as Hoffman's Javert, a dogged fellow agent who escapes death in the fourth film and an ugly fate in this entry to continue his pursuit. All the elements that have made the Saw series popular with horror fans--the elaborate killing machines, the trompe l'oeil plotting, and the sociopathic judgments handed down by Jigsaw--are intact inSaw V, which is a positive for its most faithful followers, but a negative for just about everyone else.Saw Vcovers no new ground, expands no part of the mythology of the series and seems perfectly content to present a lifeless retread ofSaw IIIandIV. It also suffers from the absence of Tobin Bell as Jigsaw, who despite his top billing, is glimpsed only in brief flashbacks. Bell, who could be unsettling even in the stillest moments, gave the series a gravity that kept its least plausible moments in check, and Mandylor, though game, simply cannot provide the same. What's left is dreary and relentlessly downbeat, and to make matters worse, ends on an open note that clearly indicates that a sixth film is in the works, no matter how obvious that the diabolical ingenuity of the originalSawhas been worn to the bone by its sequels. Only diehardSawfans need to sign up for this round of Jigsaw's games.-- Paul Gaita

(Only One Song)
『I bought this primarily becuase I wanted the "Don't Fear the Reaper" song but was a little disappointed that it lacked the other songs from the movie and only contained instrumentals. Becuase the film was shot in New Zealand they used local bands for most of the songwork and then Danny Elfman for the instrumentals. Now I love Danny Elfman, but this was not one of my favorites from him. Unfortunately this one leaves off some really good songs from the movie and I'll just have to live without them or movie to NZ.』

(Awesome score!)
『"The Frighteners"is an excellent film, and is accompained by an excellent soundtrack. The score for"Frighteners"is an eerie score, with an excellent theme song.Danny Elfman makes another fine score that deserves to be in everyone's music collection.

Whether you like"The Frighteners"or not, this movie score is worth a listen, by anyone. If you buy this cd,you won't be sorry.』

(Dark Music From A Dark Man!)
『This is an Album that I enjoyed, the theme is just sensational, but I won't lie, you might get a little tired of it but it is still Danny Elfman! All together it is a great album and if your in to the darker side of Danny's music like me this is the music for you and I recommend it!』

(It's Elfman, all right, but not at his peak)
『This is one of those for the die-hard Elfman fans. I'm one, and even then, after my first listening, my reaction was:"That was a lot of noise."It's gotten better...it has to grow on you, I guess. If you're just shopping for some good listening music, keep looking. If you're an Elfman collector, yes, this one is still a worthwhile purchase.』

(It was....ok.)
『I dunno. I usually LOVE Danny Elfman stuff. But this album leavs me waiting for...something more. For one thing, it's a short score. The music isn't that catchy, either. I've listened to it over and over and only a few parts of the album stick in my head. The music, in itself, is good. Nothing wrong with it (the pianos in here are fabulous!), but it's just...not what I was expecting. The movie's really good, and this album has it's moments, but I've heard better. That's not to say it isn't good, just...not one of my favorites.

Plus"Don't Fear The Reaper"has been raped by some guys calling themselves the Mutton Birds.

It's fun to listen to, though. If you like Danny Elfman stuff, you'll dig this.』
