He has an amazing voice and writes such beautiful music, and the combination is absolutely addictive! Edwin McCain is one of my favorite singers of all time. He will always rate at the top with me. Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Intimate is a FABULOUS CD!) 『This is ideal music for easy listening. It plays well as background, or for intent listening. Eleanor McCain has a beautiful voice that she employs well. Her songs are well-chosen&have depth&meaning. Fortunately, she doesn't try to showcase her entire range in each song, like some other talented singers such as Celine Dion, Whitney Houston&Mariah Carey. This makes Eleanor far more pallitable for extended listening. She outshines almost all other female vocalists. Her CD's are hard to find, so if you see one, buy it. You won't regret it!!! I would love to see more from this artist, including original works! 』 タイトル『 Lois&Clark: The New Adventures of Superman [VHS] >
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Bacon is mmm mmm good) 『Footloose is great! The DVD was awesome. better quality than I remember from the video i had when i was a kid. Definitley worth it!』
(Still good....) 『Still good after all these years. Kevin Bacon's interview is GREAT. AWsome songs made for the movie fit in perfectly.』
(YES) 『I bought this for my mom along with the Cd after we saw the Broadway production. She had never seen the film - I know OMG .. so got her this and she loves it. It's alot of fun to re-watch it again and if you loved it growing up, it's perfect for your DVD collection and you can find good sellers who have it for a couple dollars.』
(Awesome Movie!) 『I'll say up front that this movie has a lot of profanity in it, but it paints such an amazing picture of the kind of crappy situations that kids go through at highschool that the foul language is to be expected. The bad guy is evil, the good guy is misunderstood, and the female protagonist is a rebel. There's a lot of 80's dancing and styles, but this movie is still applicable to youth today.
This film teaches well the lesson of what to do when there is an unjust rule governing your society. This movie should not encourage rebellion, although if your child is not very bright then you might consider that as good reason to restrict this movie from them.』
(GREAT MOVIE BUT A BIT GRAINY) 『Not up to HD standards but still loved and enjoyed the film.. if your a fan go and get it just dont expect the graphics and sound to blow you away..』 『Director Herbert Ross (The Turning Point) pulled a winning movie out of this almost self-consciously archetypal tale of teenage rock rebellion. Kevin Bacon stars as a hip city kid who ends up in a Bible-belt town after his parents divorce. An ill fit for a conservative community where rock is frowned upon and dancing is forbidden, Bacon's character rallies the kids and takes on the establishment. Between a good cast really embracing the drama of Dean Pitchford's screenplay, and Ross's imaginative, highly charged way of shooting the dance numbers, you can get lost in this all-ages confection, and you won't even mind Kenny Loggins's bubbly pop. Bonuses include one of John Lithgow's best performances (a bit reminiscent of Jimmy Stewart), and Christopher Penn (who sure doesn't look the same anymore) as a good-natured hick who learns to boogie.--Tom Keogh』
『This video is divided into five parts.
Part One documents general flight deck activities aboard Forrestal in April 1967.
Part Two is an official Navy film about flight deck hazards. It was produced aboard Forrestal in 1967 just prior to the fire as a training film for flight deck crews. It features Squadron VF-74 and includes excellent footage detailing the hazards of working on the flight deck.Part Three is an official Navy training film produced in 1973, which looks at the Forrestal fire from the perspective of what the sailors aboard Forrestal did correctly and what mistakes were made in combating the fire.
Part Four consists of highlights of plat camera footage of the fire.
Part Five documents the aftermath of the fire. It includes sailors helping wounded comrades, viewing the destruction and cleaning the deck of the enormous amount of debris (destroyed aircraft) created by the fire.』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (I enjoyed the truthfulness of this film!) 『What Brad Mays has accomplished here is a truthful reflection of the chaotic primaries. The caucus frauds, the rush to hold the D.N.C. accountable and the many problems that came up in the first seven weeks of PUMA. This story is important, much of it was not covered truthfully by the MSM and there was much to tell. The film does a good job of observing the dedication of average American's to the voting process during this over the top extraordinary year. I am so relieved to see an accounting warts and all of this story. This film is an important document. You will not see this accurate a portrayal anywhere else! Do not miss this!!!』
(The Audacity of Demorcracy) 『This is the most dijointed bunch of go nowhere mishmash ever! Such poor editing as to make a person say huh? what? so where is the lead up the content the plan the end the middle?? It sucked!』 『The summer of 2008 saw the culmination of perhaps the most brutal Democratic presidential race in modern America history. Up until December of the previous year, New York Senator Hillary Clinton had been considered
a virtual shoe-in for not only the Democratic presidential nomination, but for a November victory as well. In the wake of the unprecedented May 31 Rules and Bylaws Committee division of Florida and Michigan delegates between Clinton and rival Junior Senator Barack Obama, angry Clintonsupporters stepped into an already ultra-hot battle with a no-holds-barred frontal assault. The most visible of these, P.U.M.A. (People United Means Action) PAC, took their battle to the streets of Washington, D.C., New York City and,
ultimately, Denver for the Democratic Convention itself.
This is the inside story of P.U.M.A. - its members and leaders. Starring P.U.M.A. PAC leader and founder Darragh Murphy and super-blogger Kim Riverdaughter Haas, and featuring dozens of other colorful characters, The Audacity of Democracy is at turns fascinating, infuriating, heart-breaking, and celebratory.Special 2-Disc Edition with Bonus Interviews and other material.』

(Well....) 『 I watch this to make myself an opinion as I am an "undecided" voter.
Definitely, John McCain should be regarded as war hero. No doubt about that.
I am not so sure about is political capabilities. The president of the United States cannot be elected based on sympathy and what he endured in Vietnam.
Watching this documentary, I cannot see what change he can make to the US.
A legend for the US army, but not presidential material. 』
(John McCain) 『Very good description of a great man!!!! What we need in this country in this time were values and principles have deteriorated. OBAMA BIN LADIN suffers by comparison.
Let's have JOHN MCCAIN FOR PRESIDENT!!!!!』 『Produced and broadcast on cable television before Arizona senator John McCain announced he was a candidate for the Republican nomination in the 2008 presidential race,Biography: John McCaintold the warts-and-all story of McCain's life and political career. The familiar chapters are all here, including the struggle between McCain's destiny--as the son and grandson of elite military officers--to serve in the armed forces with distinction and his more naturally wild and devil-may-care attitude. (McCain graduated from Annapolis fifth from the bottom of his class.) The womanizing and rebellious McCain ultimately married and flew missions dropping bombs over Hanoi, the latter resulting in his five-and-a-half years as a prisoner-of-war, enduring many hardships and constant torture. The familiar newsreel footage of a shaken McCain in captivity belies the terrible conditions he withstood when the propaganda cameras weren't rolling. When that harrowing part of McCain's story finally ends,Biographyexamines in fascinating detail the ups and downs of his political life, establishing a reputation as a party maverick but taking his lumps, too, with the Keating scandal. Along the way, McCain's natural honor and impish humor always shine through. On the other hand, one does get a glimpse or two of his legendary impatience and temper, chalked up to a Vietnam experience that taught McCain not to waste time and opportunity.Biography: John McCainincludes a short coda updating the original program with facts and details about McCain's campaign for the 2008 race.--Tom Keogh』 『Movie DVD』

『Like countless others out there, we've been inspired by the meteoric rise of Barack Obama and his campaign. In a time when America so desperately needed a hero, along came a man to show us a brand new vision of what America and the world could be in the 21st century. In many ways, Obama is the closest thing we've ever seen to a superhero... someone who has literally inspired millions of people simultaneously to step past fear, to be brave enough to hope and to go past cynicism and imagine what we could be if we were at our best. That's the stuff of legend! And Jailbreak Toys wanted to pitch in. So in that spirit, they created the Obama Action Figure, because every superhero should have one. 6 inches tall, 8 points of articulation, window boxed and made from phthalate-free PVC. An action figure you can believe in!
From the folks who brought you the Barack Obama 6" figure comes the presumptive Republican Party nominee, Senator John McCain. He's served his country with valor in the military and with dedication in Congress. Today, he seeks the peoples' mandate to serve America by election to the highest office in the land! Now you can host your own debates with the 6" Barack Obama Figure, stand tall for campaign finance reform or just work side-by-side to fix Washington with the senior Senator from Arizona. Standing 6" tall and articulated for striking political poses, this figure will soon become a valuable collectible to commemorate this year's historic Presidential election!』

(Great story of the old Metro Police) 『This book is a fantastic story of a Met Cop and his family on the North Shore/Boston Metro North area. I really enjoyed Mr. Atkinson's novel. He did a good job of telling the stories of Joe McCain as a Met Cop and P.I. Joe McCain was a shining example of a good cop and an example of the character that can only be developed in Boston. It was interesting all the rogues he would run into that we have come to know through the case of Whitey Bulger. I don't want to give away too much about the story because I highly encourage any true crime fan to read this book. I have reccomended this book to friends and no one was disapointed. One friend admitted he was brought to tears by the touching story. Buy this book, you will not regret it』
(A Breath of Fresh Air) 『I could not disagree more with the review by Publisher's Weekly! I thought that Atkinson did an outstanding job in depicting the Boston area and some of its most important members of the law enforcement community. Atkinson's vivid depictions of setting and his uncanny ear for authentic dialogue help to create a mesmerizing and hypnotic narrative about cop life and private investigation. In today's society, in which we find organized crime figures to be charming and endearing, and our heroes are limited to vapid low life reality television stars, Atkinsons tale of Joe McCain, a police officer to be truly admired, is a breath of fresh air.』
(Flavorful, fast-paced and entertaining) 『Okay, the title is a bit much. But I enjoyed this book tremendously. Some of the criticisms point to the elements I liked best. The routine cases, how they were approached, and the results were a revelation to someone who has no real idea of police work except what I've seen on "Cops" (constant action and crisis!). There was a new story on every page, and I wound up reading until 1 a.m. on a work day because I just couldn't help reading "one more page". The descriptions of the surroundings, the characters, the sounds and smells of the settings, conjured up a real sense of being there. I was fascinated by the character faults and virtues of the people in the book, as Atkinson tried to remain true to McCain's philosophy that most people aren't entirely good or bad. As a resident of the area, I finally understand the gang wars that were taking place when I was growing up (I remember the old Boston Record American newpaper with the crime scene photos splashed across the front). I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who lives in the Northeast, and to others who'd like a glimpse into how Boston politics are practiced in every profession!』 『For one year, writer Jay Atkinson worked as a private eye for the storied firm McCain Investigations, founded by the late Joe McCain, one of the most decorated police officers in Boston history. In this colorful narrative, Atkinson describes the cases he worked that year, chasing down an assortment of felons, thieves, and con artists, as well as the ghost of a real American hero, legendary cop Joe McCain.
Big Joe was the genuine article, a detective so committed to his work that a gunshot wound suffered in the line of duty took thirteen years to kill him.
InLegends of Winter HillAtkinson traces Big Joe’s career from the day he put on his Boston Metropolitan Police uniform in the 1950s through the heyday of his run-ins with mafiosi, bad cops, and ruthless killers, up to his death in 2001. Atkinson also follows the career of Joe McCain’s son, Joe Jr., a tattooed motorcycle fanatic who took up the mantle of his father and became a cop himself.
Legends of Winter Hilltakes you into an alluring and gritty world where heroes go unsung every day and moral boundaries aren’t always black and white.』

It faces squarely off against his fascinations with issues of ethics and authenticity, and shows him in a troubled frame of mind. I can't say how much editing was done recently, but this is technically the last book he published before his death so it's also got that grim recommendation.
By turns it's uncomfortably funny and fascinating, and it paints a portrait of McCain that's remarkably insightful in the light of the recent campaign. It's DFW at the top of his nonfiction game.』
(not timely after '08) 『...this essay, wonderful as it is, is a little outdated and, now, some of the things that DFW has written about mccain are patently false (eg: being locked in a box in the hanoi hilton for 4 years. yes, he was there, but he was not kept "in a box" every single day, as dfw says.) it's interesting, too, that this was written on assignment for rolling stone back in '99. contrast this with Mat Taibbi's RS article of this year, "mccain: the fake maverick."
that said, i love, love, love DFW's writing, and am so sad he is gone. purchase "consider the lobster" to get a more fully-rounded DFW experience. this essay is included there.』
(Originally from Consider the Lobster) 『So if you have any interest in his other essays, read that book instead of this one. While this is not a bad essay, note the timing of its re-release during a year when McCain is running for the Presidency of the US. Note also that Wallace, recently deceased, had changed his opinion of McCain, as per an interview he gave in May 2008: [...]』
(i didn't read the book) 『but author david foster wallace committed suicide two days ago. not sure what that says about the current state of presidential politics, if anything. rest in peace, david. a huge loss.』
(Important to know the context of this book was 2000, not 2008) 『Given DFW's recent tragic death (and the election timing of this re-release), I'd imagine alot of folks may now discover this book. What Wallace wanted current readers understand about the context, he told the Wall Street Journal in an interview from June 2008. Here's the excerpt:
"The essay quite specifically concerns a couple weeks in February, 2000, and the situation of both McCain [and] national politics in those couple weeks. It is heavily context-dependent. And that context now seems a long, long, long time ago. McCain himself has obviously changed; his flipperoos and weaselings on Roe v. Wade, campaign finance, the toxicity of lobbyists, Iraq timetables, etc. are just some of what make him a less interesting, more depressing political figure now--for me, at least. It's all understandable, of course--he's the GOP nominee now, not an insurgent maverick. Understandable, but depressing. As part of the essay talks about, there's an enormous difference between running an insurgent Hail-Mary-type longshot campaign and being a viable candidate (it was right around New Hampshire in 2000 that McCain began to change from the former to the latter), and there are some deep, really rather troubling questions about whether serious honor and candor and principle remain possible for someone who wants to really maybe win. I wouldn't take back anything that got said in that essay, but I'd want a reader to keep the time and context very much in mind on every page."』 『Is John McCain "For Real?"
That's the question David Foster Wallace set out to explore when he first climbed aboard Senator McCain's campaign caravan in February 2000. It was a moment when Mccain was increasingly perceived as a harbinger of change, the anticandidate whose goal was "to inspire young Americans to devote themselves to causes greater than their own self-interest." And many young Americans were beginning to take notice.
To get at "something riveting and unspinnable and true" about John Mccain, Wallace finds he must pierce the smoke screen of spin doctors and media manipulators. And he succeeds-in a characteristically potent blast of journalistic brio that not only captures the lunatic rough-and-tumble of a presidential campaign but also delivers a compelling inquiry into John McCain himself: the senator, the POW, the campaign finance reformer, the candidate, the man.』
