Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Only one Good Thing about this release...) 『When Back to the Future came out as a Trilogy Box Set on DVD i was very disappointed. The picture quality is very good, the sound.... but.... Come one... Where are the individual Boxes with original Cover Art? For me this release is the only thing good that has... But in my opinion, picking up these movies to watch, i pick the Letterbox Edition on Laserdisc and most of the times the Muse Hi-Vision Laserdisc Edition and watch them in 1080i Full HD. The DVD or even Blu Ray cannot match the Laserdisc Cover Art... besides those are the Original Ones. Much better than DVD, natural and original colors, and it's the Best way to watch Back to the Future until now...
Let's see what Blu Ray brings to us, but i am expecting HOT Picture and Sound!! :)』
(I'M BACK TO THE 80'S!!!!)
(back to the future) 『Always enjoy the nostalgia of the first one since I was born in 1955. O.k. for kids except for language. Not thrilled when people use "for God's sake sake" or "God's sake" unnecessarily. The trilogy is fun to watch back-to-back.』
(Back to The Future) 『I have Back To the Future Dvd(double disc,2nd disc with special features) I should have brought the trilogy but I got the special edition, However, I can't Complain, The Movie is awesome, I grew up to this movie as a child of the eighties, and is one of the best movies of the Era.』
(This editions review (not of the movie, of the extras)) 『On this release of the great BTTF movie, you get a 2 disc edition with extra features never released on DVD, nor even on the 4 disc region 4 release.
Obviously the movie is there, it was always good quality and great 5.1 sound on the rest of the editions, and nothing has changed for this one. Now included is a whole heap of new extras.
There is an Audio Commentary from Bob Gale and Niel Canton. It is an actual commentary now, not just the Q&A audio that played to the movie, or separately as audio depending on which edition you had, that other one is still on here, but this 2nd commentary is brand new, not a re-run.
As far as I can tell, all the extras from the other editions are still here. I own a heap of copies of different releases for this movie, and I get a little confused with what was on what; but I know the American fans will be pleased that extra deleted scenes that where only viewable on the region 4 bonus disc (4th disc) are now included in this release. In particular, the full version of the scene when Doc is asked if he has a permit, and Marty wonders if he will go home gay. It's a great and funny scene.
Also included is the footage of the back to the future ride that used to be at Universal Studios. I went on that ride in 1993, and it was great to see it again. It has two videos for the ride, the first one is the video you would watch while waiting in line for the ride. It's like a news cast and security camera video telling you about Doc's 1 day ride into the future (fictional) and the second video is what you actually saw when on the ride as you chase Biff Tannin through time. Just take not that the ride itself, you sat in a 6 seat Delorean and it moved and rocked around, so it may lose some translation while your sitting on your butt.
If your not particularly interested in bonus features at all, and just watch the thing for the movie, then there is no reason to pick this version up. If you are like me, and love anything you can find of BTTF, you will enjoy this one. It's not just another cash-in release, it does actually have brand new features to enjoy.』 『Dr. Emmett Brown: Then tell me, "future boy," who is president in the United States in 1985? Marty McFly: Ronald Reagan. Dr. Brown: Ronald Reagan? The actor?! Who's vice president? Jerry Lewis?
Filmmaker Robert Zemeckis topped his breakaway hitRomancing the Stonewith this joyous comedy with a dazzling hook: what would it be like to meet your parents in their youth? Billed as a special-effects comedy, the imaginative film (the top box-office smash of 1985) has staying power because of the heart behind Zemeckis and Bob Gale's script. High schooler Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox, during the height of his TV success) is catapulted back to the '50s where he sees his parents in their teens, and accidentally changes the history of how Mom and Dad met. Filled with the humorous ideology of the '50s, filtered through the knowledge of the '80s (actor Ronald Reagan is president, ha!), the film comes off as aTwilight Zoneepisode written by Preston Sturges. Filled with memorable effects and two wonderfully off-key, perfectly cast performances: Christopher Lloyd as the crazy scientist who builds the time machine (a DeLorean luxury car) and Crispin Glover as Marty's geeky dad. Followed by two sequels.--Doug Thomas』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review ("Smokey, the cow horse" is his favorite book) 『This film is really kind of dumb. It shows a red neck kid in Oklahoma growing up. He seems to have more courage than sense. His is a very disfunctional life and he doesn't seem to have anything but one emotional problem after the other. I pretty much disliked the film, but for Disney it must have been an adventure in semi-realism?』
(the best version of a movie from a book) 『this movie has to be the best version of a book turned into a movie. everything that happened in the book, happened in this movie. five stars! i loved the book and i love this movie!』
(80's Movies Fan) 『TEX was a great Movie,I own THE DVD..A must See IF You're Matt Dillon's Fan :)
』
(Well made and sincere coming of age movie) 『Tex is a 15 year old Oklahoma farm boy with more than his fair share of problems .He is being raised by his elder brother in the absence of parents -his mother is dead and his father simply walks away from domestic responsibility .the movie is about how this personable and engaging -but not over bright -teenager strives to make sense of his world .It examines the pains and perils of growing up and Tex 's family life is not a bed of roses .The movie treats of themes untypical of Disney productions --booze, sex, fighting ,class distinction and economic problems ,school problems and the sudden need to grow up and assume responsibility more quickly than most . This is both the appeal and the problem of the movie-it is an adult look at children's lives and treats the issues seriously ,but tries to cram too much into a brief running time .Consequently the picture feels slightly overcooked and issue heavy . Still it is splendidly acted especially by Matt Dillon as Tex and by Meg tilly as his girl friend This is awarm hearted but not a sappy movie and its honesty ,sincerity and skill commend it to me ,but a little less plot would have made it better』
(living in bixby, ok.) 『it was such fun to go back and see how much bixby has changed in 24 years. even though a few things are still there, most are gone now, as one person said, by the flood of 1986. the university towers, the round building they go into for the drug transaction is where my jr.-sr. prom was held in 1977. it was a good feeling just to recognize thee places and bring back great memories from the old days..』 『This unassuming little coming-of-age drama features Matt Dillon in the title role as a sweet, slightly dim teenager living with his older brother Mason (Jim Metzler) in a rural Oklahoma town. With an absentee father and a deceased mom, the two eke out a marginal existence; things get desperate enough for Mason to sell his and Tex's horses to have enough money for groceries. Mason is ready to graduate high school and has his sights set on Indiana University and a basketball scholarship; he has little patience for his younger brother and his antics, feeling like he has to babysit him to keep him out of trouble. Tex's partner-in-mischief is Johnny (Emilio Estevez), while Johnny's sister Jamie (Meg Tilly) is the object of Tex's crush. The two live under the stern eye of their authoritarian dad (Ben Johnson), foiling any ideas Tex may have about Jamie. If this film seems reminiscent ofThe Outsiders, it's because it's similarly based on an S.E. Hinton novel; its tone and mood also calls to mind early-'80s kid dramas such asBreaking AwayandMy Bodyguard. It's a quiet little movie, capturing the boredom and tedium of small-town life nicely, with good characterizations and early roles by the Brat Pack. Dillon helped define himself early on with troubled-teen roles, and this is a fine example.Texis also notable because it was one of the first adult dramas to come from Disney Studios.--Jerry Renshaw』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (BORN GOOD!) 『This film impressed me with the tense plot and excellent acting from a relatively unknown cast. Corey Feldman is hysterical. The squemish might want to fast-forward through a disturbing scene where a woman gets her finger chopped in a paper cutter! Overall, I really enjoyed this picture.』
(ALL GOOD!) 『I really enjoyed watching this video. The actors were all really strong. I was surprised how good Corey Feldman is, and I haven't liked him since"Stand By Me."This picture deals with teens who rob a bank and essentially every thing that can go wrong does. The paper cutter scene is awesome...worthy of Hitchcock himself."Born Bad"is"all good."』
(Darn GOOD!) 『Corey Feldman is hilarious in this movie. I thought that all the clever plot twists and turns were great. The last half hour is intense. Although I didn't recognize some of the actors, I thought they all did a really good job. Definitely worth seeing!』
(Wow!) 『I think this action-drama was GREAT! At the end its really tense and I just shaked the last 15 minutes. Even if the end wasnt as good as you would like, it was still wort seeing it. And I think the actors did a great job, even if they warent famous.』
(Born Bad is all good) 『Sure to be a cult classic! This gripping teen crime drama got so intense at one point that my girlfriend squeezed the circulation out of my hand! Corey Feldman is funnier than I have ever seen him. The non-stop tension makes this picture worth buying on DVD. You will thank me later.』

Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Who knew?) 『I picked this book up on a whim after I read an article by Dr. French about a leadership exercise she did with her students at the Naval War College. The introduction was a real eye opener. I had no idea about the importance and integrity of military codes. I also saw how these ideals apply to other professions. The real strength of her work is the in depth scholarship which is accessible. I teach in a professional school and I have a doctorate degree, but I find much scholarship is poorly written and intensely boring. This book is neither. It is informative and relevent.』
(Let's be realistic...) 『Nice fairy tale :) I loved it, but check this out for a more realistic and in depth overview of a military culture: Men, Militarism, and UN Peacekeeping: A Gendered Analysis (Critical Security Studies). Enjoy the reading ;)』
(Lessons lost in our benighted age) 『Professor French has produced a fascinating compilition of the heroic ideals of some of the world's greatest warrior classes. Some examples, the Medieval Knight and the code of Chivalry, the Samurai and their philosophy of Bushido, the Viking and the role of Heroic Honor in the Nordic lands. You will also find the monks of the Shaolin Temple in here, and the Native American plains tribes (An entire book would be needed to cover the heroic ideals of all the indigenous American cultures!). The reason this book is so significant, is that the concept of Honor is virtually dead in our vapid, passive-aggressive, superficial "modern" society. Its a society dominated by hedonism, narcissism, and conformity. A society that has lost its sense of being and purpose, lost in the vast sewer of so-called "popular-culture". In ages past, warriors formed martial fellowships adhering to a code of just and honorable conduct, so as to defend their people and way of life. It was often the struggle of their clan, tribe, or nation, against alien aggressors who would otherwise anhilate them, aggressors who might even be willing to go to any extreme to accomplish that end. Of course, in reading history, there are just as numerous examples of warriors who belonged to these institutions, whose actions and behavior was contrary to that code which they alledgedly stood for...but they don't really count. Every institution has its renegades and generally wayward members. The important factor, is that the majority did adhere to these codes, as well as they could, and the righteous nature of honorable conduct justifies itself. Those who lack a code of Honor often commit all manner of atrocities without remorse. A code of Honor, then, often serves as a guide to civilized behavior, a guide to limit or prohibit needless destruction in a conflict. In our present age of mindless psycho-babble and "cultural-relativism" which lamely attempts to justify criminality, dependance, and ever-diminishing morality, we need a reminder of a higher philosophy of living, a concept of individuality, self-sufficiency, discipline, and self-respect. A previous reviewer, an obvious leftist, will naturally hate this book, as the concept of Honor conflicts with their perverse "alternative lifestyles"...their "if it feels good-do it" existance. The very concept is "childish?", in their point of view. As usual, some people just don't get the point. The warrior-quest is more vital now, to the human soul, than at any previous time in history.』
(An Incredible Book) 『This book literally blew me away. One of the most inspiring things I have ever read. By analyzing warrior cultures throughout history, The Code of the Warrior is an invaluable tool to teach people today what having a warrior code, or a virtuous code of ethics, is all about. You will walk away with a better understanding of the virtues of courage, integrity, loyalty, love, duty, honor and many others. And you will be inspired to develop your character to fight for what is honorable and true. An essential book for today's lethargic culture. If you want to develop your warrior potential and be a force in this culture for good, read this book!!』
(A warrior idenitity crisis?) 『Most of the editorial reviews on this book found in major media outfits praise this book. It is also praised by Republicans and conservatives.
I however find the book to be a bit of a stretch. The thinking is thin, the only deep, critical or insightful part of the book is the introduction and conclusion. The case studies, while braced with with that initial inquiry, are thin and one dimensional.
It assumes that the reader is somehow seeking a warrior identity, a mythic structure or meta-narrative. This is childish. It further makes these"mythic structures and meta-narratives"which somehow resemble the creatures and cultures of dungeons and dragons game, about every country except the US.
I think this book grew out of the authors flights of fancy, and she simply wanted a way to justify her D&D games.』 『Tackles the ethical issues and takes the reader on a tour of warrior cultures and their values, from the ancient Greeks and Romans to the barbaric Vikings and Celts, from legendary chivalric knights to Native American tribesman, from chinese warrior monks pursuing enlightement to Japanese samurai practicing death.』

(The Collectors Encyclopedia of Pattern Glass) 『i am not new to collecting depression era glass, i was really into it in the early 80's, but its been a while and i thought a few good books might help me brush up... i shopped around, read the reviews and chose this as one of two that i ordered... WAS I DISAPPOINTED IN THIS ONE! all this book is, is a large compilation of drawings, NO DESCRIPTIONS, NO PATTERN NAMES, just drawings... even if, no ESPECIALLY if you know nothing about depression glass, this is definitely NOT the book for you! i was completely disappointed... sent it back immediately, trust me, try warman's or Gene Florence if you want to actually learn something about depression glass...』
(My copy is worn from use!) 『I have found this book very helpful in identifying pattern glass. My copy is worn and soiled from being used so much. One of the best investments I have made in years...This book list hundreds of patterns shown in clear drawings. Great book for beginners.』
(A good, solid, reliable, pattern glass reference book.) 『Mollie Helen McCain's Field Guide To Pattern Glass is a winner, covering all styles of pattern glass and pairing small black and white illustrations with clear descriptions. Those already familiar with pattern glass will find it a good solid reference.』
(Two thumbs up!) 『This is the best book ive found yet, and I have many books on pattern glass, If your going to buy just one book on pattern glass this is the one! great detail, very large variety of examples,』 『This large comprehensive volume contains hundreds of illustrations of patterns represented according to molded characteristics - circles, stars, plants, flowers, etc. - so that collectors who don't know pattern names can easily locate pieces. Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Under Fire) 『Very good book which reports the true feelings of the Men and Women involved in Vietnam. Vert well put together.』
(What we do, and how we do it) 『Catherine stops the action with a great sense of timing. I'm not sure how she does it, but to show violence, heart break, and compassion is incrediable. As a Marine who was on Hill 484 where she took photos, Catherine gets it right. A must read for those who weren't there, her book explains the madness some call a political extension and others call war. Not for the squemish or the undecided, her photos show real people doing what they must to survive. About as real as you can get, and not be there that instant. Semper Fidelis』
(Still Waiting...) 『In no way would I ever take away from the effort and images that most of the photographers mentioned in this book accomplished. What I have always found disheartening (in this book and all previous books published of Vietnam photographs) is the fact that these photographers were pretty much first "shown the ropes" by military combat photographers that were in country. Many military combat photographers on many occasions saved these journalists' asses that were good photographers but were dumber than dirt in a combat zone. I'm still waiting for the book to be published using images of Vietnam by combat photographers that are filed away somewhere in the Dept of Defense archives.』
(This is Reality Folks!) 『I first met Catherine Leroy on the Bien Hoa airfield as the 173D Airborne Brigade prepared for Operation Junction City, the only parachute assult of that war. A diminutive blonde French woman, barely in her twenties, Ms Leroy was tough as nails and "cute as a button". I managed to take a photograph of her rigged in her parachute and "armed" with a pair if Leika cameras just before we boarded our aircraft (see the insert inside the back of the dust cover). Cathe was a no nonsense professional then as she is now. She and her colleagues have done a magnificent job of portraying the reality of war. "Under Fire" is a must read, not only for veterans of all wars but, especially for those other souls who have not experienced the realities of combat. Through first rate up close and personal photography, with associated narrative and comment, Cathe and her "band of brothers" have brought "great dignity to what might otherwise be viewed as a vulgar brawl". "5 - Star"』
(memorable photography) 『This is an important book. The photographs will haunt and amaze you. It's hard to imagine people could get that close to the action. You believe for a moment that you are actually there witnessing it.』 『In Under Fire, one of the most daring combat photographers of the Vietnam War, Catherine Leroy, pairs her work and that of other acclaimed photographers-âamong them Larry Burrows, Henri Huet, and Don McCullinâwith moving, evocative essays from an equally stellar roster of writers, including David Halberstam, Philip Caputo, Neil Sheehan, and Tim OâBrien.
Captured in the collected photographs is the full emotional spectrum of war. Through the cameraâs eye, we see the war from both the combatantsâ perspective and that of the Vietnamese civilians, for whom the conflict was a constant and horrendous backdrop. Some of the photographs are well known, verging on the iconic, others are less well circulated but no less evocative. All make indelible impressions on the viewerâperhaps more so now than when they were taken, thirty to fifty years ago.
The essays accompanying the photographs tell us about what happened to the photosâ subjects, both when the shutter captured them and since; about the challenges facing the photographers in the heat of battle; and how, in some cases, the photographers changed history by bringing Vietnamâs senseless violence to ordinary Americansâ doorsteps, thereby helping turn public opinion against the war.
Published to coincide with the thirtieth anniversary of the fall of Saigon, Under Fireis a potent, often poignant reminder of the men and women whose work helped forge the collective memory of a generation.』
