Mark Curtis has taken a complicated subject and in readable fashion made it understandable. Along the way he has told intriguing stories about the people he met during his travels - politicians and main street Americans. I finally understand some of the things I was most confused about during the campaigns. His astute understanding of the candidates makes him a first class political analyst.
Curtis gives us a view of the campaign that one probably could not find anywhere else. This is not an "insider" book written by campaign staffers with their own agenda, but rather a panoramic view of the entire race. Curtis melds his own observations of the candidates at campaign stops with "man on the street" interviews and discussions with political analysts into an entertaining and informative overview.
This book is a must read for anyone interested in the political dynamics that shaped this historic election.

Mark has done an outstanding job as a one-man operation following the complex issues and individual candidates and would be candidates. In person he is quick and perceptive, and his memory is also amazing.

He remembered the details of my book we talked about months ago "A Brooklyn Odyssey," stories of my growing up.

This book by Mark Curtis as he follows the 2008 election process, is truly unique. It reads like a series of journal entries in the remarkable march toward the November election of a president. Mark writes with the clarity and understanding of an excellent political analyst. The book is filled with insight, understanding, and dotted with humor to make it a great read. The only thing that might have added to make it even better would be to have included colored photos!

The 2009 Presidential Election is surely up there with the country's most historical events. And IDW jumps on the bandwagon with this flappable two-sided comic, which tells two stories that are only possible in America.

Barack Obama's autobiography is written by Jeff Mariotte and drawn by Tom Morgan, while John McCain's story is handled by Andy Helfer and Stephen Thompson respectively. This thin paperback houses some surprising information on both politicians, from Obama's lifelong search for his racial identity to McCain's military hardships and family woes. While both stories are brief, "Presidential Material" paints a portrait of two different men who are both worthy of recognition and respect.

This comic is unrated: Mild Violence, Adult Situations.

I purchased this rather unconventional souvenir of the historic 2008 presidential election. It has good, basic information about both candidates, but I will keep with my other Obama mementos.
The comic was more revealing about both candidates than I expected. McCain's wild youth and Obama's hanging out with some true radicals when he was young.

The art was a little primitive in spots. It was a good summary of both of their lives.
I have to admit I never intended to buy this for the satire,,I bought it for my grandchildrens children..A piece of history I will add to all the memorabilia I have collected from this historic election! If you like comics, it`s great but if you want to own a small piece of history here`s your chance! Add it to your collection or enjoy it at face value either way it was a great deal..
