Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Great Album) 『I got introduced to Edwin McCain when I was 16 years old in 1998 during an episode of "Dawson's Creek". Yes, I went there. This was a time era when I was all about Jewel, NSync, and others. Anyway, I ordered this album from BMG Music(still owe them money for it) and almost immediately fell in love with it. It had to grow on me because-where I'm from- this genre of music definitely isn't acknowledged. However, after spending some restless nights with it, I loved it. Edwin McCain has this voice that moves me deep within and I couldn't help but to find this album on here and leave a review for it. Some of my favorites are "Grind Me In The Gears", "Rhythm of Life", and "Holy City". 』
(misguided roses) 『this is a great album by Edwin McCain the price was good music was even better thanks to Amazon for being there for us keep up the good work』
(Misguided Roses - Edwin McCain) 『I'm one of those audiophiles that purchase an album for one song when I want it. In this case it was Edwin McCain's "I'll Be". The CD does not disappoint, and the song is a wonderful medley about love and relationships as well as commitment. I'll explore more of Edwin's work on this album as time goes by, but I recommend it for anyone that wants to expand their music library.』
(Amazing Album) 『Misguided Roses is without a doubt the best of Edwin McCain's albums and one of the absolute best albums in my collection. Every song on the CD tells a story that never fails to reach out and touch the listener. Like many others, I discovered Edwin through the hit song "I'll Be" (included on the album) and became a fan because of the quality of his lyrics and music. I've listened to every album Edwin McCain has put out and have yet to find one that I didn't like, but this one stands out head and shoulders above the rest. The lyrics of this album have an amazing thought provoking quality to them that really shows off his talent and makes you marvel at what a well written phrase can do. It went a long way toward teaching me how much depth good writing really has and how much possibility there is in the written word.
Oh, by the way, don't miss the hidden track at the end of The Holy City. It's amazing and, coupled with The Holy City, is worth the price of the album.』
(Beautiful lyrics and great music) 『Edwin McCain is a great songwriter, and he has the voice and the band to back it up.
One of my favorite lines from any of his songs is from "I'll Be":
"The strands in your eyes that color them wonderful stop me and steal my breath. Like emeralds from mountains, thrust towards the sky, never revealing their depths."
Edwin McCain is a very underappreciated artist. I don't understand why he isn't more popular. Maybe he is too hard to pigeonhole. He's not just folk. He's not just blues. He's not just soul. He's not just rock. He's not just pop. He's all of these things in a perfect blend. Whatever you want to call him, he's worth a listen if you like mature music with a cohesive range of styles and moods.
If you like this album, I would also highly recommend his album "Honor Among Thieves".』 『Edwin McCain landed a major-label contract on the strength of his sets opening shows for his old South Carolina buddies, Hootie and the Blowfish. McCain's major-label debut, 1995'sHonor Among Thieves, featured a duet with Hootie's Darius Rucker, and closely resembled the Blowfish formula of earnest soul vocals over acoustic-led folk-rock. On the followup,Misguided Roses, McCain tries to put some distance between himself and his famous mentors by adopting a fuller, more amplified pop-rock sound. It's an approach that shows off McCain's handsome tenor and his knack for writing catchy choruses, even if it does nothing for his melodramatic lyrics.
Recorded in Nashville with session vets Matt Rollings and Kenny Greenberg producing,Misguided Rosesgains its full textures from the tightly packed layers of guitars and keyboards. If these mid-'70s, Southern-California arrangements remind one of the second-generation Doobie Brothers, you won't be surprised to find Michael McDonald matching his grainy, blue-eyed soul voice with McCain's on two numbers. And when McCain comes up with a Top-40-radio hook as effective as those on "I'll Be," "Darwin's Children," and "Holy City," you might find yourself wishing you didn't understand English so you could enjoy the music without hearing lines as stilted as "Emeralds from mountains thrust towards the sky."--Geoffrey Himes』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (A shepard among sheep) 『Edwin McCain is the freshest sound in a long time. They have captured a sound like no one else's. And they aren't"too cool"to sing ballads. I very much enjoy listening to them and have made them one of the groups I would love to learn to play on my guitar.』
(Intriguing! Written from deep within the soul...) 『I have just recently come to know Edwin McCain. I fell in love with his music the minute I heard his single"I'll Be"and he has fascinated me since. Everyone I know either has the CD or is ready to get it the minute they hear it. I played it for a friend of mine and by the end of the night he was ready to run out and by it! Edwin McCain reaches deep within and writes purely from the heart...he takes his own views and experiences and eloquently transforms them into a heart-felt song. He also is blessed with the good fortune of having a few fantastic musicians to accompany him. They really help bring out the emotion and have proven to have no limits! I am ready for more!』 『Edwin Mccain Releases his Third Album, 'messenger'. Features the Diane Warren Written 'i Could Not Ask for More'&an Acoustic Version of 'i'll Be'. As two of them Begala and Alter are clear Obama supporters there is imbalance in the discussion. Alter especially criticizes the new McCain as having betrayed the old McCain that Alter admired. Schieffer who will moderate the final Presidential debate is more neutral, but he too like the other panelists suffers from a lack of humor and wit. It is a kind of 'old boy' discussion in which they mostly nod their heads at one another as they explain once again that Sarah Palin has 'energized the base' and Obama needs a bit more firewater in his appearances. Their recommendation is that Obama attack McCain on his flip- flops which have made him less a maverick than he pretends to be. They do not worry so much about outlining a strategy for McCain though they do strongly recommend that he stay away from the low- road approach. They claim it will play havoc with him if he is elected. And this when they acknowledge dirty politics and unfair attacks have been part of Presidential races since the days that Jefferson sent his minions to tell lies about Adams. It would have been fairer to do this program with at least one out and out McCain supporter , even if he did not have at the moment a new book to sell as each of the panelists did.』 『A discussion about the 2008 Presidential Election with Bob Schieffer of CBS News, Jonathan Alter of Newsweek and Paul Begala of CNN.

It's nice to hear the other side of the story...so persuasively and carefully documented. I don't think I'll ever believe anything I read in the newspapers again without a huge dose of skepticism.』
(A frightening political system perpetrates and perpetuates fraud on the uninitiated voter.) 『This book seems to be well researched and makes the point that selective, one-sided, political arguments--political propaganda actually--are the norm in Congress, the Executive Branch and the Justice Department. I think we thoughtful voters realize all that and find it despicable, but what can we do about it? More about this later.**
As you read the book, you realize how much lobbyists run the country and the majority of our politicians. Greed often seems to be the lobbyists' and the politicians' bottom line. I don't come away feeling sorry for Abramoff, though I do worry about how much lobbyists can greatly influence the direction of the country.
The discussion in the book does make me wonder how much we really need to know about McCain's POW days, though I don't agree with those who argue that if he became president in Jan. 2009, he could eventually, possibly, be blackmailed by those who know the whole truth about his so-called collaboration with the N. Vietnamese while he was their prisoner. Of course, the KGB archives could have additional negative info about McCain's days as a POW and could TRY to blackmail him, but at this stage in his life that might be a futile gesture on the part of the KGB. We would know their motivation and perhaps wonder how we ourselves would have withstood inhumane treatment.
**Our beloved country is a mess. I'm discouraged, and I sometimes wonder why anyone bothers to run for office any more. Campaigning is a dreadful system AND BORING for viewers. But as a registered independent, I would argue that we need to register and vote our concerns but first by (1) studying the issues and the politicians, (2) canceling out the many lies spewed out by the candidates and their staff members--who apparently think we voters are stupid--and (3) by daring to speak the truth ourselves since much of the MSM doesn't, as you note from daily readings and Mr. Chafetz' book.
I gave the book only three stars because of the appalling lack of editing throughout. I often had to read sentences three or four times to figure out which words were missing or incorrect, and there were a lot of those! Publishers used to hire proof readers to do such editing, but I guess those individuals are a dying breed who cost the publishers too much money? There's that bottom line again. Still, I think the book is worth reading and do recommend it.』
(It ain't necessarily so.) 『A few years ago, Gary Chafetz wrote a book on a notorious malpractice case in which he countered the easy, even lazy, journalistic narrative that dominated the headlines. The story had it that an elite Harvard psychotherapist led an unfortunate, confused working-class medical student to despair and suicide. Chafetz' research uncovered a quite different, and more plausible, story that re-focused he narrative and largely exonerated the psychotherapist from the most serious charges leveled against her. It also told a story of a successful professional, who had done much excellent work and was destroyed by the financial costs of defending herself. In his new book he examines Jack Abramoff, whose name has come to exemplify the rotten core of K Street Republican politics. Chafetz's book should be read widely, not only because he casts doubt on this most recent narrative of villainy...this time the story of the evil, powerful lobbyist who has robbed and defrauded naive Native Americans, but also, and more importantly, because he deals quite harshly with the role of John McCain in the affair. According to Chafetz, McCain's desire to destroy Abramoff arose more out of a personal grudge than from his desire to root out corruption nd in the process he was both unethical and dishonest. McCain, in Chafetz's analysis, shows a vindictive and deceitful side, one far from the "straight talk express" so beloved of the sound-bite corporate media. One doesn't have to accept all Chafetz's argument about Abramoff's activities to appreciate what he has accomplished in writing a carefully researched book against the grain of common wisdom and even against such fair-minded commentators as Bill Moyers. It may be that a very flawed man operating in a deeply flawed political culture has been made a scapegoat while another greatly flawed man is now the Republican candidate for the presidency. At any rate, voters should see this book soon.』 『Gary Chafetz is a liberal Boston journalist who set out to chronicle the scandal involving conservative gun-for-hire and super-lobbyist, Jack Abramoff. Instead he uncovered a Shakespearean tragedy of deceit, betrayal and political vendetta in which the true villains are Presidential aspirant John McCain, the Washington Post newspaper and the U.S. Department of Justice--all of whom participated in the railroading of an innocent man. Chafetz benefited from exclusive and unconditional access to the jailed Abramoff and to many never-before-released documents. The blizzard of stories originating from the Washington political machine painted Abramoff as an implausibly greedy lobbyist who cheated Indian tribes, bribed politicians and corrupted the political process--a fascinating tale but, ultimately, untrue. The true story, as Chafetz recounts in The Perfect Villain, is even more riveting and compelling.』

It's like Meghan McCain Captivated John McCain in this book like his days in the POW camp. And what really gets me going is the awesome pictures by Dan Andereasen. Meghan's intense and stunning imagery in her writing combined with Andereasen's pictures have transported me to a simpler time, one with John McCain. I was there to witness John's birth in Panama, and I was even there to witness the beginning of John's presidential campaign. It's like me and John get each other, and this booked helped a lot. The book has also shown me what a great man John is, and how much this man means to me. After I read this book I gave it to my son to read, and he loved it too. And he is planning to vote for the Grand Old Party in 2024. So in ending this review I want to thank Meghan McCain for writing this book.』
(The John McCain we don't know) 『Wonderfully written by the daughter of John McCain. You could feel the love put into this book. Great history lesson for kids and adults alike. I highly recommmend it.』
(It's great!!) 『I bought this for my niece. She loves it. She is 7 yrs old and enjoyed reading the book. She says she likes to read it over and over. In fact, she has read it 3 times.』
(John McCain's story of his life in war and peace) 『An excellent young readers book written by a daughter that really loves her dad. I can relate from her story how extensive that love is when I compare it to my own dad and how great he was for me all through his life.
Meghan tells about her dad's birth in Panama, his young life when he was a fighter and not a "go along with" person. He did not like to follow rules and knew in his mind what John McCain wanted and if it was the right thing for him and his friends and family, it was the way he thought and acted. When he went to the Naval Academy he had to learn to follow rules. The story goes through John McCain's schooling, his father and grandfather that were in the military, and his choice to also join the service and help his nation. He had several brushes with death while flying, but the utmost incident was when he was shot down in the Viet Nam war, captured, and suffered through more than most of us could ever endure.
In his years as a prisoner, staying when offered a release because of his background, but refusing because he knew others that were there longer deserved a release more than him. He suffered more torture because of this. When eventually released he decided on a political career and winning several elected positions that brought him to the chance and eventually actually getting the Republican Presidential Nomination.
No matter your political opinions, the trials and tribulations that John McCain endured are a fantastic story told by his loving daughter in a style that young readers will enjoy. 』
(A really beautiful book about an American hero) 『This is a children's book for all ages that focuses on the character and heroism of Republican presidential candidate John McCain. Written by his daughter, it's a lovely tribute to her beloved father. The illustrations are gorgeous, and the book is written with fairly simple language.
Our 4- and 12-year-old daughters both enjoyed the book. Much of it was over the head of the 4-year-old, but she didn't have any trouble paying attention until the end. The 12-year-old had learned some things about Senator McCain at school, but she wasn't aware of the fire he survived or all of the details of his captivity. She's obviously beyond picture books, but I think she enjoyed the family time.
In short, this book is a nice keepsake of the past election and its subject a true American hero. I'm glad my family has a copy.
』 『Born the son and grandson of military men, Senator John McCain from Arizona was destined for a life serving his country in the armed forces. Like many great men, he occasionally struggled with authority, but once he found his true calling -- flying naval aircraft -- his ideals and commitment to his country took him far.
From the low point of five years as a prisoner of war to the high points of raising a large, happy family and being chosen as the Republican nominee in the 2008 presidential election, Senator McCain has lived an incredible life driven by a love of his country and a desire to serve it to the best of his ability.
This picture book biography, written with great love and insight by his oldest daughter, writer Meghan McCain, shows us the public John McCain and the personal John McCain in a way we've never seen before -- making this American hero come to life before young eyes.』

Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Suggestive, speculative "what if" scenario) 『Patterson postulates what could have been done differently in The McCain Election camp to capture the 2008 Presidential election. His premise is rather simple and quite frankly probably correct. McCain (according to Patterson) was first the unlucky recipient of poorly timed economic and political events that, while no fault of McCain, were poorly handled by his election camp and things that they could have controlled were poorly decided (the selection of a VP running mate).』 『Had John McCain simultaneously chosen Condoleezza Rice as his Vice Presidential running mate (instead of Sarah Palin) and Mitt Romney as his Chief Economic Advisor coming out of the Convention, the Republicans could have actually won the 2008 Presidential Election; even in the aftermath of the Wall Street Economic Meltdown(based on an objective analysis of Presidential Exit Poll Data). This assertion is primarily based on three highly plausible suppositions that would have emerged, demographically, had Rice been chosen as the Republican Vice Presidential candidate, that could have decisively altered the outcome of the 2008 Presidential Election of Barack Obama.
In particular, Rice’s presence on the Republican ticket would have cut across and appealed to several crucial demographic constituencies that no other Republican possibly could in 2008 (or, for that matter, in 2012 either). Moreover, the selection of Rice would have averted the devastatingly negative Voter impact ofSarah Palin’s perceived lack of readiness to become President that endured through Election Day. Whereas, had Romney been “onboard” as an equal member of such a political triumvirate paradigm, the frantic and impulsive vacillations displayed by John McCain that excruciatingly transpired in the two weeks following the onset of the Wall Street Economic Meltdown in mid September 2008, need not ever have occurred.
Further, this book will examine how John McCain and the Republican Party, during the 2008 Presidential campaign, allowed themselves to be essentially handcuffed and effortlessly painted into a corner by Barack Obama and the Democrats on several major campaign issues for which justifiable, principled departures from rigid Republican Doctrine did, and still do, exist today.
Additionally, the personality traits of both McCain and Obama are analyzed as a basis for projecting their respective presidential crisis decision-making potential; based on observable behavior and reaction to events that occurred during the 2008 campaign. A similar analysis details how both McCain and Obama, at crucial times during the campaign, allowed their respective insecurities and/or petty vindictiveness to cloud and potential jeopardize even their most overriding, single-minded ambition: To be elected President.
The daunting (and maybe insurmountable) outlook confronting the Republican Party in 2012 and beyond will also be explored. Indeed, for the Republican Party, after 2020, the future looks even more bleak; at which time, if nothing materially changes, the Democrat Party will dominate the White House as the only remaining viable National Political Party.
As to the immediate future, a valid and objective Voter Expectation of the Republican Party is that their criticism of the Obama Democrat Administration will be accompanied by thoughtful, comprehensive alternative solutions. Moreover, it is axiomatic that Voters will, typically, not opt to“change horses in the middle of the stream” unless 1) the party in power seeking re-election is perceived not only as a troubled presidency (1980: Carter); but, as an additional prerequisite, 2) the opposition party a) has detailed alternative solutions and b) can articulate them (1980: Reagan).』 タイトル『 Peace Flag USA Stars And Stripes Logo HI RES Logo Men's Sweat Shirt Small thru 3XL >
