『The little ball is great and has not broken on me yet. I have had it for over 1 year. The video is great and you can really feel the burn on your abs the next day.』

『Aside from the atrocious smell of this thing, it is pretty good. This made me realize how out of shape I really am. The crunches are SO much more intense with this than without.

It took about one month for the vinyl-chemical smell of this to subside. Another issue I found, is that it tends to lose air slowly, so each time I use it I must re-inflate it a bit. Perhaps that is normal, I don't know....I never had one before.

『this has got to be the absolute WORST microwave popcorn I have EVER had. Lots of unpopped kernels. The "butter" was more like "seized" glop (warm, lumps of lard). I threw out the first bag after eating a small handful. I took the rest of the order to work for those who appreciate this type of thing. It didn't disappear very quickly, so maybe I am not the only one that thinks Orville Redenbacher's is a HUGE WASTE of money.』

(Sound problems)
『The biggest problem I had with this device is that after an hour of recording, the sound and video do not sync. I didn't have the problem on shorter videos, but when you're trying to get dozens of 2 hour home videos on to the computer, it's a big problem. I had to capture sound as a separate file, take the sound file into another software package, stretch it out to match the video, then recombine it with the video.

Rather than return the product, I worked around the problem because I tried multiple other products, including Dazzle's video capture devices, and one by Roxio, and they all had worse problems. I used this thing for a few weeks, let it sit for a couple of months, then it didn't work after that. Waste of money. But like I said, I've tried a bunch of different devices and none of them seem to work well.』

(Terrible device)
『This device does not work. I spent ages trying different software and running troubleshooting tests, and the bottom line is that this device is manufactured in such a way that it does not draw enough power from the USB port to keep the video and audio in sync.

And no, it's not a problem with my processor being slow, and yes, I use USB 2.0, and yes, I have repeatedly tweaked my software capture settings. But this device cannot keep video and audio in sync. The only way to do it is to set software to drop video frames in order to sync up the audio. And take a wild guess what happens then. Yup, super-choppy video.

I will probably try to use this to record my audio cassettes onto my computer to convert to mp3s, but this is all the device MAY BE good for, and that remains to be seen.』

The device worked really well, it was easy to use and the quality was good. I don't use it very often but it comes in handy. The problem is, these People have pulled a trick which causes any older version to simply not function, causing you, in theory to purchase their latest version. Seeing as how I don't use this very much and I would like something that would still function a couple of years from now, when I do buy another it won't be from them. Sorry ADS.』

『The Roku SD does exactly what it's supposed to do: stream Netflix offerings to your television in standard definition. This is the 'no frills model' and the cheapest Roku offering. There are three: Roku SD, Roku HD and Roku HD-XR. (See my reviews to read about all 3.)

Being the 'low end' Roku offering, it only provides standard RCA (red/yellow/white) composite video hook-ups. NO HDMI hook-up here! For that you need either the Roku HD Player or Roku HD-XR Player. Both can provide HD streaming and stereo sound. The HD-XR can also stream over a 'n' network and has a usb port (although no known use for that port as of yet).

This device will allow you to enjoy Netfix wirelessly or via a wired connection on your home network. It will work at b or g network speeds, but not 'n'. It will not stream content in high definition, but would be perfect for someone with an older television and no plans to upgrade. It also saves you a bit of cash (about 20%) from the price you'd pay for the HD version.

This unit will not give you the best audio and video, but it was never made to do so. It will give you Netflix content on your television (provided you have a Netflix account) and allow you to enjoy over 17,000 movies, documentaries and television programs. Roku's are great, but you do need to find the one that's right for you!

NOTE: None of the Roku devices are currently DVR's, have built in modems or diversified mass media players or storage units. Also, THIS UNIT WILL NOT STREAM AMAZON ON DEMAND, but the Roku HD and Roku HD-XR will!』

(Deceptive description)
『This device works fine....BUT... Setting is up is not exactly as advertised. IT DOES NOT HAVE A BUILT IN MODEM SO.... it needs to be connected to AN EXISTING ETHERNET SYSTEM IF ONE IS ALREADY AVAILABLE. That's the problem. In my case I had to figure all this out and when I had, procure a wireless router to allow the necessary connection to my PC's modem (in another room). That done, it seems to work as advertised... BUT... not without a lot more work and some expense (the router) than "SETS UP IN MINUTES" would have you believe.

I have already made this same complaint to NetFlix by phone (for all the good that will do).』

『I previously had Netflix but I cancelled it because I was tired of waiting for DVDs in the mail, I didn't think that I was getting my full money's worth and could probably get a better deal renting from RedBox locations. But when the folks at Netflix mentioned that there are Netflix-ready devices out there that could allow you to play their "instant" movies, I was intrigued. I have an older Mac laptop at home and I can't play the instant movies on it (only Intel-based Macs can do that). And, I was never really happy with watching TV shows and movies from other networks like ABC or NBC on that computer anyway. The lag-time is too long and the images were choppy and usually inconsistent. So, deciding to give it a try, I re-upped my Netflix subscription for $8.99/month (the cheapest plan for UNLIMITED instant viewing) and ordered this Roku box thing (buy the way, roku is "six" in Japanese--whatever that means???) Anyway, I remember waiting anxiously everyday until it arrived at my doorstep. (You should know that my wife thought I was crazy for spending 80 bucks on something that I had no idea how worked). But man, o man! She got quiet and got to smiling real quick! Was it ever worth the wait!!! I do not work for Netflix or Roku, so get that out of your head. I teach middle school. I am a regular Joe that loves to watch movies. This thing is like having a 17,000 item DVD collection right inside your living room. The quality of movies is amazing (like DVDs - except there's no subtitle option, which I like reading sometimes) and there is no delay in the image at all (at least on my AT&T DSL connection). If you wait to get this thing, you will be missing out on a major addition to modern technology that I know will be as common as the remote control in a few years. I love it!!! And, when you add movies or TV shows to your Netflix instant queue, you don't have to watch them one at a time. You can cycle through your choices, just like spinning a wheel--a poster image of the movie appears on-screen--and stop on the choice that interests you at any given time. Dude, I am rushing through this review just so that I can get to watching my movies again. As of today (11/15/09) it is certainly true that Amazon's video-on-demand is listed as "coming soon" in the Roku home screen, but don't wait for that! Many other companies and services are in the pipeline, so don't be left out!!! At least through Netflix, Roku rocks and I ain't lying, cousin!!!』

(Great Holder for the iPhone)
『I ordered this item just before I went on vacation. I wanted to try it on the Plane trip to Arizona. The product is made very well and is very versatile. Once I settled in on the plane I pulled out my In Your Face holder. I clipped to to the tray table and moved the flexible neck into the position that was best for watching movies on my iPhone. (NOTHING Else Comes Close)
『I've had my IN YOUR FACE for about a year now and don't know how I lived without one, so I bought a second for my desk. Now I'm going to get a third for my travel bag so I ALWAYS have it with me! In the car I attach it to the hand break so that my iPhone is high enough for me to use for directions and making calls. My eyes rarely leave the road and when they do it's for a very short time.

At home I attach it to my desk and my iPhone is never contending with the other objects on my desk. It is up at eye level and that makes it much easier to work with.

On the plane, I actually can watch a movie without cricking my neck or holding the iPhone up. It's way more comfortable.

I've tried other holders but they are just inferior. The clamp on this allows me to attach it to just about anything. I LOVE THIS!』

(Handy, but could be hardier)
『I have had this product for about six months now. I purchased it originally to mount my iPhone 3G to my wheelchair. This product's versatility allowed me a wide array of places I could mount it to secure my phone in a usable position. But I was somewhat limited by the weak strength of the clip. As a result, I had to also secure the flexible shaft with a strap to keep my phone from moving around too much. For me this was a minor detail, considering mounting to a metal tube is a difficult thing to do with a spring-loaded clip alone. The clip design is such that it is very good at clipping to flat surfaces due to the use of hinges and rubber pads, but not so much so for curved surfaces.

My main complaint is their use of plastic for the clip. I thought I was paying the extra money to upgrade from a cheap plastic mount to something more durable, which unfortunately was not the case. It was not long before part of the spring-loaded hinge was broken irreparably, whereas metal construction would have been more appropriate for such a vulnerable area (hinge between the two halves of the clip and containing the spring).

Regardless, this product will serve most people well for occasional and even moderate use, but may not hold up too well to prolonged everyday use.』

I just bought this camera in October '09 s a replacement for older point and shoot. I haven't had a chance to explore all of it's capabilities, but it is easy to use. I can't wait to test it out underwater next season. I did try the panorama stitching capability with the software that came with it, and it works quite well, providing a seamless 3-D picture. I like the size too, fits in a pocket or in a small case on the belt. I also have a DSLR, but this camera is nice for when I don't want to lug the big one around. Oh yeah, and the 720p video is a great little feature. Not quite as good as my 1080i Sony HDD camcorder, but more than adequate capture the moment. For the price this is a great camera and I would definitely recommend it.』

The quality of the photos is really good, the waterproof system works with no problem and the HD videos in daylight are truly amazing. One of the things I really like is how long the battery life is. I thought the lithium battery would be a problem, specially when you go out on vacations and you don't have a place to plug the charger all the time. Anyway, this little battery lasts so much that's not an issue. This is the perfect camera. Totally Recommended.』

(More Than I Expected)
『This is my third Lumix. We have a more expensive LX-2 -- top of the line in its time -- which is an excellent almost-pocketable camera. I also bought a cheaper FZ-28 for hiking, which is disappointingly noisy. This camera is /very/ nice for what it is. It's smaller than I expected, which is a good thing. It's also lighter than I expected. It's not a tank, like some of the Olympus cameras. [I'm neutral whether that is good or bad.] It tends to flare some since the lens is covered by a piece of flat glass with no sun shade, but as long as you watch where the sun is, that's not a big problem. I have gotten it wet while hiking but haven't yet taken it underwater. There are lots of YouTube videos from people who have. I expected the door for the battery and SD card to have some kind of lock on it (like the Sanyo waterproofs) so one doesn't accidentally open it underwater. If someone made a camera condom for this model, I'd probably use it just to cover the door. It exposure brackets only +/- 1 E.V.; I'd prefer 2 so I could shoot HDRs when the situation requires it.
But it takes _wonderful_ video. The raw video on a large screen television is gorgeous. It has a nice wide lens, adjusts focus and exposure quickly (and in small increments). I use AVCHD Lite with a Mac. The first time I used it as a videocam was at a dog show. I posted the results on YouTube under "Beck - Best of Breed." Most recently I shot "Moanalua Valley Trail - After the Rain" with it. I'm very pleased with its macro capability too. I bought the green color; it's subtle and doesn't look cheap or industrial. It's rugged enough that it gets used a lot. Although I bought a second battery, the battery for this camera is not a skinny little toy. I've never had an issue with the first battery running down but I tend not to use a flash.
I'd recommend this camera if you regularly do any kind of outdoor activities and take an extra second or two to see where the sun is relative to the camera.』

『I am a fan of American Apparel products, this hoodie is one of those reasons.

it is really warm and velvety on the inside and has bright colors that make it stand out in a positive way.

if you are getting rich/bright colors like red though, be forewarned that they will leak on the white draw strings, so maybe try to avoid wearing the hoody in situations that it will get filthy so you can try to avoid washing it to many times and causing the bleeding to be more of an issue.

『This transformer, and most of the others, are just too difficult to play with. they are hard to transform. It took some intelligent adults looking at the diagram for 30 minutes just to transform it once. the pieces pop off easily and it will not last long. I would not recommend to anyone.』

『I bought this for my son's 5th birthday because the age is listed as 5+. It is so hard to change it into the robot, I can't even figure it out with the instructions and I'm an engineer. Lots of frustration and disappointment for my 5 year old. Maybe for a 10 year old, but not for 5.』

(A fun surprise)
『I wasn't interested in the characters of Skids and Muddflap at first. I watched a review on both these toys online, and they seemed to have enough poseability and interesting transformations to pick up. The vehicle mode looks very nice. It's a very nice painted green, while inner robot mode seems to be green plastic. Even that looks nice. Transforming him can be a little weird at first figuring out the right place to put everything. One thing I am noticing that Hasbro is doing more of is giving these figures tabs to help with placing all the parts correctily. Just know that you have to seperate the roof to fold the backpack correctly. It seems like it will break, but it's solid. He can stand fairly well with the help of the folded car sides that make his bottom legs. Robot mode looks like a good mold. I like that they even painted his buck teeth. The enlarged, articulated punching hand is kind of cool. I haven't noticed anything that would seem too fragile, so I think Skids is better suited for children than the other movie figures.』

『This game is perfect for the whole family. We all play together from ages 2 to 65. It has helped my now 3 year old learn his numbers. The game cards and chips are very durable unlike many other sets. The DVD presentation really keeps everyone's interest. I highly recommend it.』

The game is fun, the music and visuals on the DVD are bright and, well, DISNEY, and it's finally a game where she can really follow it, thanks for the colors and characters. She doesn't yet know double digit numbers, but the characters and colors bridge this gap until she learns them. Even if she didn't know her letters she would be able to play, due to the system they've created here. We played it last night before bed, and the first thing she said when she woke up this morning was, "Let's play BINGO!" Because of the DVD, she can play it without me, too, which is another plus. The pacing of the DVD is perfect for her. I couldn't recommend this game more and know she will play it for years. I am curious now about other DVD games.』

(Entertaining, Long and Extremely Strange)
『Despite my initial surprise in finding that Stephen King's writing was not that of many popular contemporary writers I am beginning to wonder why everyone loves his stories. I enjoy Kings' writing, full of rich detail and great word choice but the two novels that I've read haven't had the gripping plots I was expecting. Though IT was very unique in many ways the novel became so strange that I often found myself wondering what King was talking about.

I found King's combination of flashbacks and present day events as the story progressed to be fascinating. Though it was sometimes confusing I enjoyed the structure of the novel. Moving between the Loser's childhoods and their adult lives made the novel much more interesting, presenting the reader with two similar but also separate plot lines. King seamlessly melts past and present by beginning a sentence in the presents and finishing it in the past. IT had a very unique layout of text that I found entertaining to read.

While the plot may have begun as something compelling, after 1090 pages I was certainly ready to close the book. The different descriptions of events began to grow tedious and I found myself wondering when the book would finally end. When the end did come I was thoroughly confused by the origin of Pennywise/IT as well as the meaning of the "macroverse" the "turtle and the "deadlights".

IT provided many interesting plot turns and I often found myself unable to put it down. However, the novel was simply too long. I am a person who enjoys reading long books but I found that the bulk of IT was nothing more than unnecessary and often tedious fluff. Many readers would find IT entertaining but you must be willing to invest the time and patience necessary to finish this sprawling coming of age horror.

『Chuck Palahniuk is the now generation's Kurt Vonnegut: a slyly brilliant writer more concerned with telling a great story than necessitating the dictionary. We find an array of characters who are not us--people whom we will never be and probably never wish to be, but somehow to whom we are directly connected.

I found the plot moving actions to be hilarious, but like a great magician, these were largely sleights of hand so he could drop the boom that--good, bad or ugly, we are only the composition of our actions and inactions--both having equal consequences.

『Choke is about contradictions and irony. About the yin and the yang, the back and the forth, the dichotomous relationship that produces the amazing and bizarre in life, but when related to addiction results so often in pleasure and pain.

Understandable yet ridiculous, the give and take of addiction manifests itself in many ways throughout Choke. Medical professionals probably feel the elation saving a life or fixing ailments, but are conversely disgusted knowing how that plunger handle got lodged up there - despite the patient's protests. With the subtopics of sexual addiction, religion, and hospital visits in this book, the previous metaphor is disturbingly appropriate.

A med-school dropout, Victor diagnoses strippers' melanoma as incurable cancer and picks up women at sex addicts' meetings for fun. He wears a scratchy wool costume at a colonial reenactment village to pay the bills, most notably his mother's medical bills for Alzheimer's. Outwardly his fellow employees look and act as if transported into centuries past; realistically, however, most discretely yearn for the comforts and addictions of their current lifestyles. Told through a thick haze of self-loathing, Victor is no different from others; his sex addiction is known but he can't beat it off.

When salvation is within grasp, the addicted still don't really want help, which is Victor's issue. Reliant upon others for salvation or help, he pretends to choke at restaurants to get free meals, but primarily to create heroes and earn some extra cash while making himself feel better. With his ruse, however, he tempts fate: if the choking is fake, everyone else thinks it's real; when it's real be careful, lest one end up as the boy who cried wolf.

Told interspersed with oddball childhood recollections of leapfrogging between foster parents and his mother's abductions, Victor is almost predisposed for the codependency on which every aspect of this novel tramples. When the walls come crumbling down around his life, however, pleasure and pain is felt throughout the "colony."

Perverse and heart-warming, chock full of lists of bizarre trivia, this is classic Chuck Palahniuk. If you're familiar with his work, you'll understand and love it. If not, I highly recommend this book for the slightly twisted looking for an original concept with a twist of dark comedy.』
『Victor Mancini is a ruthless con artist. Victor Mancini is a med-school dropout who's taken a job playing an Irish indentured servant in a colonial-era theme park in order to help care for his Alzheimer's-afflicted mother. Victor Mancini is a sex addict. Victor Mancini is a direct descendant of Jesus Christ. All of these statements about the protagonist ofChokeare more or less true. Welcome, once again, to the world of Chuck Palahniuk.

"Art never comes from happiness." So says Mancini's mother only a few pages into the novel. Given her own dicey and melodramatic style of parenting, you would think that her son's life would be chock-full of nothing but art. Alas, that's not the case. In the fine tradition of Oedipus, Stephen Dedalus, and Anthony Soprano, Victor hasn't quite reconciled his issues with his mother. Instead, he's trawling sexual-addiction recovery meetings for dates and purposely choking in restaurants for a few moments of attention. Longing for a hug, in other words, he's settling for the Heimlich.

Thematically, this is pretty familiar Palahniuk territory. It would be a pity to disclose the surprises of the plot, but suffice it to say that what we have here is a little bit of Tom Robbins'sAnother Roadside Attraction, a little bit of Don DeLillo'sThe Day Room, and, well, a little bit ofFight Club. Just as withFight Cluband the other two novels under Palahniuk's belt, we get a smattering of gloriously unflinching sound bites, including this skeptical bit on prayer chains: "A spiritual pyramid scheme. As if you can gang up on God. Bully him around."

Whether this is the novel that will break Palahniuk into the mainstream is hard to say. For a fourth book, in fact, the ratio of iffy, "dude"-intensive dialogue to interesting and insightful passages is a little higher than we might wish. In the end, though, the author's nerve and daring pull the whole thing off--just barely. And what's next for Victor Mancini's creator? Leave the last word to him, declaring as he does in the final pages: "Maybe it's our job to invent something better.... What it's going to be, I don't know."--Bob Michaels』

『Even though you're told it's a 24X32 poster, you really can't begin to imagine its size until you see it in person. I personally bought it to decorate my classroom and I have noticed several of my students have asked, "Miss who's that chick? She's pretty." It's a great way to get younger people interested in Hepburn of Capote's Breakfast at Tiffany's.

What I liked most about the poster was that it had a photo-like quality. The black and white picture is clear and unlike those cheap posters you buy at the mall, this poster seems to be a life size picture of the famous movie star.

For the clarity of details, beauty, and size, I think it's a great deal.』

『My son loves the Elmo's world DVD's so we have a large collection of them. When I purchased this I did not realize that one of the three segments is the same as one of the segments in the "What Makes you Happy" Elmo's World DVD. Had I known that I probably would have purchased a different DVD with three segments that he does not already have. The segment that repeats itself is the dancing segment. Anyone with a child who loves Elmo's World knows that you'll end up watching the DVD's over and over again. He doesn't seem to mind seeing the same segment than twice in two videos, but it can drive me crazy. Other than that this is just as good as any of the other Elmo's World DVD's. I like that it introduces books since my son started watching this before he was interested in having us read him any of his books, and now he seems more interested in his books. I highly recommend it if your child likes Elmo.』

『I loved this move as a kid so I was excited to show my own kids. When we started the movie it was all wavy on the screen and had a blue tint. The sound was messed up as well. I wonder if it was a boot-leg copy?? It was delivered to my house all wrapped in newspaper for protection so maybe it was damaged in transit? There was no return address or instructions for sending it back, so I couldn't even return the movie. I paid over $40 for this movie - I guess buyer beware!!』

『I ordered the Platinum version DVD of Beauty and the Beast from HorseCrazy. The sound raced and was so distorted we couldn't watch it, and my grandchildren were very unhappy. I sent three emails to the vendor and haven't gotten a reply. I certainly won't do business with HorseCrazy again.』

『Neither our Blu-Ray now our DVD player will play this DVD without "Angle On" and "Angle Off" appearing repeatedly in the upper left hand corner of the screen. I have never seen this with any other DVD I have ever watched. Seller denied that it was a bootleg copy, but I'm pretty sure it is. Other than the above annoyance, the movie itself is ok, but agree with some others that the colors do not seem quite right. Dull and washed out come to mind.』

『I've seen the majority of the "classic" Disney animated films, and "Robin Hood" (1973) does not come close to them in quality. The story features Robin Hood taking on King John, whose brother, the true King of England (King Richard), is off on the Crusades. King John is outraged after being robbed and tricked by Robin Hood and retaliates by increasing the taxes in his kingdom. This back and forth continues for awhile until Robin Hood finally triumphs. Yawn.

The quality of animation of "Robin Hood" is not drastically better than what you would see in the typical 70s Saturday morning cartoon. The character designs are rather generic and undistinguished, particularly Toby Turtle, Sir Hiss, and Robin Hood himself. The plot is quite boring and certainly is not clever enough to entertain adults, although it may entertain easily amused children. Clearly, the film's low budget hurt it greatly. The only positive aspects were a couple of decent songs (especially "Not in Nottingham" by Roger Miller) and the conceit of making all the characters into animals. I haven't seen a few of them, but "Robin Hood" is my least favorite of all Disney animated films I have seen.

Note: I rented this DVD, so I don't know what extras were offered aside from those on the disk, which included a cute Mickey Mouse cartoon and a couple of lame children's games.』

(Gritty Realism And Incredible Acting Make This Miniseries A Rousing Success)
『Though most people may be drawn to this HBO miniseries for its look at the founding fathers and events of our nation in the early years of existence, I would like to add another reason (well, two actually): the gritty realism that the period is portrayed in, and the incredible acting that really brings the characters to life.

Now, don't get me wrong...this series is indeed a fascinating look at the formative years of the United States of America through the prism of John Adams' existence. Though those events now take on an air of legend, viewers will quickly take pleasure in seeing the events not portrayed as overly epic (unless they actually were!) but as the real-life struggles of some pioneer thinkers.

However, what continues to stick in my mind after viewing the entire series is how "real" the entire experience seemed. From the macro level (like the general living conditions and attitudes towards women/slavery) to the micro level (the crude nature of medicine and the sound of flies that can be heard buzzing in almost every scene), it felt as if I really had been transported to that time period.

Also not to be overlooked is the incredible acting throughout the series. Paul Giammatti (Adams) is one of the most underrated character actors of the modern day, and yet he is matched word for word by Laura Linney (Abigail Adams). The actors portraying such characters as Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, and George Washington are even able to bring forth the traits of the real-life luminaries they are portraying.

Thus, I would recommend this seven-part miniseries to pretty much any viewer who has any interest in historical topics whatsoever. Experts on the period will enjoy the realism of the series, while more casual viewers will just be transported away to a life that, while difficult, produced men and women that turned the U.S. into a nation to be reckoned with.』

『We missed this show when it was released. We had heard that it was a fabulous and very accurate portrayal of the events surrounding our founding as a nation. Our family LOVED it and highly recommend it for family viewing. There is one "love scene" between John and Abigail that wouldn't be appropriate for younger children and a couple of surgeries that were graphically portrayed so keep your remote handy to fast forward.

The production values are magnificent, the character development is excellent and overall it made us want to buy the book and read it as well.』

people of that time had and makes you feel more patriotic...

John Adams and Thomas Jefferson were friends,
adversaries,and then friends again.

An Uncanny Fact is, John Adams and Thomas Jefferson died on the
same day JULY 4th 1826..on the 50th anniversary of our Independence.
I never knew that.

The acting was impeccable.....

I think anyone that is interested in History will enjoy this series...
some nudity and intense scenes...not for little kids...

『Shonda Rhimes outdid herself this season with the Denny-Izzy storyline. It was practically a movie in and of itself with Ms. Heigl&Mr. Morgan playing their ill-fated romance to death DO US NOT part. On the other side, Izzy seems to finally made of man of the chip on his shoulder bigger than a boulder Dr. Alex Korev. Also well played by Justin Chambers

Meredith&Derek became almost secondary characters until Derek's breakdown following an unsuccessful surgery - which was not a bad thing as the show tended to rest a little to heavily on McDreamy&Mare and there on-again off-again silliness. Meredith was much more interesting interacting with her Mom's diaries, dealing with her mixed feelings for the "chief" and with her "person" Christina Yang. And speaking of my favorite cold-hearted surgical resident, we finally found out a little about how she got that way through her sudden passion for McArmy surgeon Owen Hunt. McKidd was a perfect addition to the cast&a great foil for Yang, who needed a man with a little more angst than Mcdreamy&McSteamy provide.
McSteamy&little Gray gave Gray's the comic turn it needed to keep from drowning in the drama, with Lexie showing Dr. love 'em and leave 'em Sloan what it feels to be the woman in the relationship. Also bringing up the comedy factor was the adorable Sara Ramirez as Dr. Callie Torres, who when not fixing broken bones was exploring her sexuality with both genders.

Chandra Wilson deserved special praise for taking Dr. Bailey to a whole other level in Season 5. Watching her compassion while hold a dying child, or like a little girl at Christmas with her new medical equipment or facing divorce she was all over the place emotionally. What a performance.

Eric Stoltz was brilliant as the psycho under Meredith's care, while James Pickens, Jr., as Dr. Richard Webber is the glue that holds it all together as the chief of staff of Seattle Grace. I hope next season we see a bit more of Dr. Webber&his wife, especially in light of his confession to Meredith about how his relationship with Ellis and effect on her.

T.R. Knight was marvelous as George found himself trying to catch up to his fellow residents and looking for his place in the medical world.

Still miss Dr. Preston Burke, and appearances by Kate Burton as Meredith's Mom, but not so much Addison Montgomery.

Cristina (Sandra Oh, never better) is still picking up the pieces from her ruined engagement to the departed Burke (Isaiah Washington). To help her, or maybe to throw her for another loop, the series introduces the gruff, macho military doc, Owen (one of TV's sexiest hunks, Kevin McKidd).

Yet series creator and still active writer Shonda Rhimes unveils story arcs about midway through the season which have the surgeons' operating room dramas intersecting with the characters' private lives--with waves of heartbreaking results. Fans may take issue with "Dead Denny" (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and his endless visitations--complete with sex--with Izzie (Katherine Heigl)--but as the season builds, Izzie's mystery illness, and her deep love for Alex (Justin Chambers) are treated with delicacy and respect, and Denny's character both reacts and ultimately supports. There's a wedding--a fairy-tale one--celebrating the show's 100th episode, and the love of the characters, and the pain they've overcome to get there--are equal parts of the very human, very lovely, result. The season finale is among the show's best ever, with the fate of two beloved characters, George (T.R. Knight) and Izzie, left unknown and laden with sorrow.

The set's extras are a treat, including a rich 20-minute feature on the filming of the 100th episode. Oh exclaims of the gorgeous wedding cinematography, "I hope I'm lit like this for the rest of my life!" 『One of the greatest films of all time, GWTW is a fascinating depiction of Southern life during and after the Civil War. This review, however, is for the product, not the film. I give the product four out of five stars for the following reasons:

1) This edition comes with many extras, even a recreation of the program used 70 years ago. Also included is a sample of the original motion picture soundtrack and roughly eight hours worth of bonus features, including documentaries, commentary, and more. While the product description mentions ten 5"x7" water color pictures (which it does include), it also comes with recreated telegrams, letters and more from the cast, crew and production company.

2) The film transfer is beautifully done. The film flows smoothly and is featured on two DVDs. While that is rather annoying, having to get up and change DVDs or wait as the player automatically shifts between the two, that sacrifice for the beauty of the film is well worth it.

3) The price is rather high for what you get. I love the film and had no problem paying the money for it, but the price is still rather high. Taking into account all the facts that there are only 150,000 copies out there, the price seems rather reasonable for such a "rare" item. Even with that, it's still rather high.

All in all, definitely worth the value you put into it. One quick side note here before I finish. The film IS presented in original format, which is FULLSCREEN. Films prior to 1953 were not shown in theaters in what we now know as WIDESCREEN. This was developed in the early fifties during the television boom to help add to the experience movie-goers wanted. EVEN WITH THAT IN MIND, the set is great and I highly recommend it.

(70th Anniversary Collector's Edition Blu-ray WOW!)
『I usually don't like purchasing collector's edition boxes as I don't usually care for the extra items and they are bulky to store. The boxed set of Gone With The Wind impressed me though. It is elegantly packaged in red velvet box and the extra items are awesome as well, like the David Selznick memos about choosing among Clark Gable, Gary Cooper and Errol Flynn for the role of Rhett, the hardbound photo book and souvenir program reproduction. The price at Amazon was also almost half the regular price, so the purchase was well worth it. Best of all, I got the set yesterday on the day of release, even though I used the free-shipping option. I noticed that Amazon is now using Ontrac for delivery and the orders seem to arrive much quicker.

Now for the blu-ray itself...the transfer is simply awesome. The color correction and clarity are breathtaking. I actually noticed wrinkles on Vivien Leigh and Leslie Howard's faces, which make you realize that they were actually older than the roles they played. The film is in the original 1.33 aspect ratio, which was common for movies in those days. I know some people are looking for the widescreen version, which this film was not originally shot in. If you have a good HDTV, the solution is simple by viewing using wide zoom to fill the screen. You lose part of the top and bottom details, but there's usually not much there. I do mind when they crop the sides to make widescreen fit regular screens (pan&scan) as you lose lots of details on the sides. However, if you want to see this movie in its original glory with all the details, then watch it in the original aspect ratio. I also like that the whole movie is in one disc for continuous viewing without having to change discs. You know how long it sometimes takes to load a blu-ray disc, but this one loads fast as they don't have the elaborate menus to slow it down.

There are many extras on the second disc and the only one I viewed so far was the restoration process, which is always fascinating to me because of the age of the movie.

Overall, this collection is well worth the purchase. I just wonder what they will come up next for the 75th anniversary. Maybe by that time HDTV's can display at 8000p and we'll end up seeing more details than available now.』

『David O. Selznick wantedGone with the Windto be somehow more than a movie, a film that would broaden the very idea of what a film could be and do and look like. In many respects he got what he worked so hard to achieve in this 1939 epic (and all-time box-office champ in terms of tickets sold), and in some respects he fell far short of the goal. While the first half of this Civil War drama is taut and suspenseful and nostalgic, the second is ramshackle and arbitrary. But there's no question that the film is an enormous achievement in terms of its every resource--art direction, color, sound, cinematography--being pushed to new limits for the greater glory of telling an American story as fully as possible. Vivien Leigh is still magnificently narcissistic, Olivia de Havilland angelic and lovely, Leslie Howard reckless and aristocratic. As for Clark Gable: we're talking one of the most vital, masculine performances ever committed to film.--Tom Keogh
