I bought the sheets and the comforter, along with some wall-clings, a hamper, lamp and other accessories. He can't wait to go to bed each night! He LOVES his Spiderman room. The sheets were a little rough when I took them out of the package. But I washed them with a double shot of fabric softener, and they came out nicely. And he loves them so that's all that matters!!!』 『Spiderman Themed Bedding』

Well, their music can be a little irritating for me sometimes too. You can turn the tables on them while you listen to this CD in the car. HaHa! But my 8 year old loves "The Phantom of the Opera" song and sings along with it. She'll say, "Play it again, mom!" She is not totally corrupted yet by the pop culture. Ha! I should have exposed my older kids to music such as this while they were young too.』
(Great CD) 『It took awhile to get to me but it is a good as i hoped! Very satisfied』
(Phantom of the Opera Movie and CD) 『Received both movie and the soundtrack CD. I was not disappointed. They are amazing and beyond my expectations! I love the songs and listen to them frequently. Will definitely be purchasing the written music book for the piano so that I can enjoy playing them also.』
(Love the music) 『Love the music, the orchestra but geralds voice doesnt live up to the phantom. His acting was pretty good but his voice paled to compare with hugh panaro a/o Michael Crawford. Then again Ive been a phantom phan since my mother bought me a music box of masqurade. Christines voice does portray her innocence, which is good. When I got the soundtrack and played the song with phantom, I was let down but then I saw the movie and His acting does make up for his voice. So, I do like the soundtrack. If you are waiting for Hugh panaro s phantom cd, forget it. Try youtube. 』
(Great music) 『I loved this movie, and couldn't get the the music out of my head. The CD is good, there are some parts on the tracks that are hard to hear at a normal level though.
I can't wait to see it in the theatre! 』 『For better or worse, Andrew Lloyd Webber's adaptation of Gaston Leroux's gothic horror/romance novel has done for stage musicals what Spielberg'sJawsdid for fish stories, with worldwide sales of its original cast album approaching 25 million. While director Joel Schumacher's film turns on his typically ambitious visual verve, its new film soundtrack recording has been paradoxically focused in scope, yet beefed up dynamically via the brawny presence of a hundred piece orchestra and The London Boys Choir. This single disc version showcases all ofPhantom's key songs (a deluxe, double-disc edition is also available), with Gerard Butler imparting a welcome, youthful sensuality to his Phantom, making a fine foil for Emmy Rossum's ever-conflicted Christine. Original show orchestrator David Cullen has fashioned compelling new contemporary arrangements to frame Webber's songs -- which now conclude with the lilting, upbeat new ballad he wrote for the film, "Learn to Be Lonely," sung by Minnie Driver.--Jerry McCulley』 『The Phantom of the Opera, Soundtrack』

His shows are a different pace and he has a more scholastic way of interacting with kids it seems. No offense to Joe, he's a great performer too and the 2yr old is just as engaged with him, but Steve's rythm was consistent on virtually every episode for the years he did the show.
This DVD is all Steve so if your a Joe fan you won't find him. After several searches and reading several reviews this one seems to be the only DVD which offers Steve exclusively. As for content all the episodes are educational and engaging so really can't go wrong. Great product!』

(All Steve. No Joe) 『After researching all the blue's clues DVD's. This is what I was looking for. 4 Episodes with just Steve. Besides the Blue's Musical Movie this is the only DVD to my knowledge with just Steve. No offense to Joe. My 20 month old will almost watch the whole thing&the best part is it's one of those DVD's that just automatically loops. Which is great in the car. If your a Blue's Clue fan or more particularly a Steve fan then this is the DVD for you.』
(I have a secret crush on Steve.) 『As with most Blue's Clues, these episodes hold my son's attention, are educational and really emphasize problem solving and creative thinking. The colors are bright and clear, the music is catchy, and the characters are likable. (Unlike the idiots who populate "Blue's Room" episodes. Ick.)
You'll probably be forced to watch the shows multiple times, and you can amuse yourself contemplating Steve's cuteness. Also? There's a pink snail hidden in every episode, so you can test your powers of observation looking for him. 』

(Stranger Safety DVD) 『Super DVD. I recommend it to every parent with little ones. I thought the show was kind of corny but the kids loved it and the points really stuck with my kids now 5 and 3. They love to watch the show over and over and talk about safety points and review who their safe side adults are. I realize what I thought was corny was exactly what makes the movie appealing to the kids and helps them remember all the right things. Every parent should own this and play it frequently.』
(Excellent presentation) 『I am very happy with this product and have recommended it to friends. My children really have taken to the message.』
(Perfect!) 『I love this DVD! My son (4 years old) and my Niece (8) have watched this together. She got the message after watching it twice. It's taken him a few more viewings. He loves this DVD and asks to watch it all the time. Now when we're out he's always making sure he's close to his "safe-side adult". It's everything the description says it is and it's not too annoying to watch as an adult (you know how it is). I highly recommend this to kids of all ages.』
(Stranger Safety DVD, Safeside DVD) 『They arrived quickly and in great condition. The kids have been entertained by the videos and not scared. I am able to discuss issues with them using the video and ask them questions. With all the crazy people out there, you can't prepare the kids enough.』 『Kid safety is an important, yet often difficult topic of discussion between parents and children. The Safe Side's"Safe Side Super-Chick" is a decidedly zany host who successfully combines slapstick humor with serious, practical safety tips for kids. "Safe Side Super-Chick" breaks the population down into three quickly discernable categories: "Safe Side Adults" that kids know well and can always trust to keep them safe, "Don't Knows" like the mail carrier or the lady at the park and "Sorta Knows" like a coach or a schoolmate's parent. As "Safe Side Super-Chick" interacts with "Don't Knows" and "Sorta Knows", she offers seven specific safety tips to keep kids safe and, with the help of real kids, details simple, concrete actions and phrases that empower kids in a variety of potentially dangerous situations. Best of all, the presentation is never scary, but always extremely funny--that means that kids ages 2 to 10 will actually enjoy learning about safety. Kudos to Julie Clark (creator ofBaby Einstein) and John Walsh (host ofAmerica's Most Wanted) for creating a safety video that's highly entertaining, informative, and practical.--Tami Horiuchi』 『A message from John Walsh: I'm the host of a television show that I wish wasn't needed. But it is. Thankfully, 38 missing children have been recovered by our work at "America's Most Wanted." In 1981, the lives of my wife Reve and I were changed forever. Our beautiful son Adam was abducted from a mall in a nice area of South Florida. Sadly, two weeks into the biggest search for a child ever in Florida, our son was found murdered. In my quest to find justice and fight back for victims, I lobbied Congress to change the laws and to change how police search for missing children. I'm proud to say that the movement I started is still going strong. There's a national organization dedicated to helping children (National Center for Missing and Exploited Children) and now this country and its media are beginning to understand that our children need to be informed about how to stay safe. In 1981 not much was known about child abduction and exploitation. Parents knew very little and, tragically, children knew even less. Today we're proud of the awareness that children have about the dangers that face them. Children see images everywhere of kidnappings and exploitation. We only need to think about what we've seen in the past year--pedophiles in the clergy, Internet predators, and others who are in positions to take advantage of children's trust in them--to know that kids are still being victimized at an alarming rate. I hope that's about to change. As a crime fighter and host of a popular TV program that has saved lives, I'm proud to be teaming up with a woman who knows how to teach children. Kids want to know what to do, and parents need to be prepared. Like me, Julie Clark is a parent who cares. She has a proven track record of teaching kids. Her passion and experience make this series of safety videos for children something that parents and kids will want to watch. Now parents and kids will do what I've been doing for more than 23 years--they'll fight back.』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Chase mugs his way through another Vacation movie.) 『Saturday Night Live alumnis Chevy Chase in his 20th film released in 1989,stars in National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation;the third installment in the franchises' long and still continuing history.Chase on SNL is not much different from Chase on the big screen,as he displays an alarming lack of range relying mostly on his constant mugging and less than stellar one liners. In fact he was better in his element on TV and(providentially)his career has waned into almost oblivion on the big screen since the early 90s. The film really can be pared down into about four distinctive "plotlines".Find a Christmas tree, insert gags, take tree home.Get out Christmas Lights, insert gags, turn on said lights.Irritating relatives arrive, insert gags, relatives are ok in the end.And finally, want raise, insert gags, finally get raise.Picture ends with a slow pull back shot of Chase looking vacantly into the night sky and proclaiming"I did it"....cue in music. Simple is the word and the mostly moronic humour is the byword throughout.Admittedly most of the Lampoon films were made with the cheap laughs in mind and nothing more. They don't pretend to be anything higher than what they are and you gets what you sees. The pacing here is also one of stops and starts.Just as it starts to get a head of steam on it it slows down for a shopping trip or a conversation with a relative. Technically the film has been remastered very well and is shown in its' original theatrical ratio. The special features,if you can call them that(especially for a so-called"special edition"),consist of the trailer and some pretty lame commentary by members of the cast(Chase not included). The DVD case itself is also very cheap...no expense spared here;no expense at all! If you are into the National Lampoon flicks, especially those with Chase then this film is up your alley. If Chase looking at a buxom girl and saying"I was just blousing,er browsing" is your idea of comedy, that is of the very simple, low and frat house type of "humour" it really is,then this is for you; no doubt. For those expecting more,it warrants a big pass.』
(A cult classic!!!!) 『My wife and I can watch this movie over twenty times each season and not flinch! We pretty much have the dialogue memorized after all these years and it's still as funny as ever. A must see for the holidays!』
(Fun Christmas Story) 『This will one day be a classic. At least for me, it has made me laugh. It has a bit of everything about the Christmas Holidays, in particular, the insanity of shopping. Family is great and this movie shows that at this time of the year, we need to take the good with the bad (cousin Eddie). I already had the movie but wanted to upgrade to blu-ray (the price was right) and give the other copy to my son, who happens to have the same warped sense of humor as his old man. A fun family movie except near the end the big kahuna, the word Ralphie( A Christmas Story) escapes Clark Griswald mouth when he loses it. Delivery was as promised. The only negative I found is, with both copies, something was/is not right with the sound - I need to turn up my system to the top to hear. Only DVD that I need to do that with. Why??? Dunno.』
(Not Christmas Without It) 『This is our family FAVORITE!!!! It would not be Christmas if we didn't watch it at least once.』

Every time I watch this movie I find something else to appreciate - from the creative writing to exaggerate the sentimental traditions, to the hysterical performances of the entire cast. Complications, of course, are inevitable. Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (very moving story) 『Lorenzo's oil - more than just a great movie.: An article from: Medical Update is a very moving real life story. It is the emotional journey of the parents of a boy afflicted with a very rare hereditary neurological disorder. Their efforts prolonged their son's life by several years and resulted in the discovery of an oil that can cure the disease if taken early enough in the diagnosis. Susan Sarandon and Nick Nolte offer a wonderful portrayal of these determined parents.』
(Great educational film) 『I have shown this film many times in the high school Biology classes that I teach. The movie does an excellent job following the true story of a family struggling with the genetic disorder ALD. It is sad and painful reminder of the uncertainties associated with genetic disease. My students really enjoy the film and it really puts a face and story behind genetic disease.』
(The Critics of This Movie Are Ignorant) 『Two of the people who gave this movie a bad review (one star) said that the movie was not factual, and even suggested that the oil doesn't work in most ALD patients. I did a web search of only .edu websites and found that the two reviewers are wrong. Lorenzo's oil only works in about 2/3 of ALD patients, that's true. And it only works if those patients start taking the oil *before* the onset of symptoms. But they couldn't be more wrong about the huge breakthrough that Lorenzo's oli represented in the study of ALD. It's just that the cure turns out not to be as simple as was initially hoped.
Do a .edu web search of the following:
Bradley J Stith PhD Lorenzo's oil
He is a professor of biology at Colorado University who thinks that the movie is a great teaching tool for getting students interested in the field of biology. He also discusses every aspect of ALD, the movie, and the oil itself.
Now, as to the charge that doctors and nurses are portrayed negatively in the movie. That's only partially true, because for every doctor and nurse who was portrayed negatively, there were doctors and nurses who were portrayed positively. The doctor who finally diagnosed Lorenzo (in the movie) is played entirely positively, as are all of his nurses and assistants. And the doctor who is in charge of the dietary studies (in the movie) is portrayed only partly negatively; later he even helps the Odones "off the record" in their unprecedented experiment with Lorenzo and the oil. Two of Lorenzo's home care nurses are portrayed partly negatively and partly positively. For that matter, Lorenzo's own mother was portrayed partly negatively because her obsession with Lorenzo was making her start treating her own family members badly in some ways. Of course, she can be excused because she was a panic-stricken and desperate mother.
Don't listen to the naysayers. All of their claims are off-target. This movie is on my list of top ten films ever made.』
(Depressing, yet hauntingly beautiful) 『Back in my High School years, I had to watch "Lorenzo's Oil" in Biology class. I thought I would be bored straight through, but it caught my attention. Now I can see why it's so good. It's a hauntingly beautiful film that would most certainly cause tidal waves of tears for those who are easily saddened. Nolte and Sarandon are fantastic as the couple that would never give up on their own damaged son (although Nolte's accent can be a bit laughable). Samuel Barber's "Adagio for Strings" is a nice touch as well. I would only recommend this film to those who are interested in science and good drama, but not to those who would NEVER want to see a kid's life being torn apart by a rare disease. Keep in mind that it's based on a true story; that's what makes this film more mesmerizing than it is.
R.I.P. Lorenzo Odone』
(Bookbug) 『This story about parents researching a treatment for their son's incurable and untreatable ALD disease in spite of a general lack of real support is inspiring. They persevered when their support group leaders insisted they needed to accept their son's death. When doctors were horrified that anyone without a medical degree would experiment on their own son to find a cure - even though the result of NOT trying and evaluating possible medications was disability, dementia, and death, they didn't give up. This medical drama is well produced. It will keep you on the edge of your seat and cheering to the end. Although the story isn't finished yet, the "end" is satisfying and challenging.』 『With this powerful 1992 drama, director-producer George Miller (The Road Warrior) proved that a movie about a disease doesn't have to be a typical disease-of-the-week movie. Based on the real-life case of the Odones family, the story concerns 5-year-old Lorenzo, suffering mightily from an apparently incurable and degenerative brain illness called A.L.D. His parents, an economist (Nick Nolte) and a linguist (Susan Sarandon), refuse to accept the received wisdom that there is no hope, and set about learning biochemistry to pursue a cure on their own. The film becomes an intriguing scientific mystery mixed with a story of pain, grief, and the strain on the two adults. In other words,Lorenzo's Oilis similar to all those medical-mayhem TV flicks but with some key differences: a pair of great actors in Sarandon and Nolte--who actually do some of the finest work of their careers here--and Miller's bold and typically inventive direction. Miller, a doctor himself, refuses to shirk from the chaos and horrors of a child's agony, and he makes us hear the death chains rattling behind images that would be purely sentimental in another director's hands.--Tom Keogh』

(Need a sixth star for this movie;) 『In my view there are three really great movies: 1) Wonderful Life - especially this newly re-worked version in color (ohhhhhhh........ Donna Reed as a young girl........ what a dream !!) (Much like the woman I married :) ) 2) Gone With the Wind - Scarlette my love ! . Life is very hard and painful for a lot of people in the US today and because the US middle class has been gutted they have no money to buy the things developing countries make and the crisis is worse in those countries as a result. . However, there is always having faith in God as a choice (yes or no). It's always a choice......... essentially "to be" or..... "not to be". These are the same choice. When we have nothing else but faith which enables the possibility of hope then we have nothing else and nothing else. . It's that simple. . 』 『Now perhaps the most beloved American film,It's a Wonderful Lifewas largely forgotten for years, due to a copyright quirk. Only in the late 1970s did it find its audience through repeated TV showings. Frank Capra's masterwork deserves its status as a feel-good communal event, but it is also one of the most fascinating films in the American cinema, a multilayered work of Dickensian density. George Bailey (played superbly by James Stewart) grows up in the small town of Bedford Falls, dreaming dreams of adventure and travel, but circumstances conspire to keep him enslaved to his home turf. Frustrated by his life, and haunted by an impending scandal, George prepares to commit suicide on Christmas Eve. A heavenly messenger (Henry Travers) arrives to show him a vision: what the world would have been like if George had never been born. The sequence is a vivid depiction of the American Dream gone bad, and probably the wildest thing Capra ever shot (the director's optimistic vision may have darkened during his experiences making military films in World War II). Capra's triumph is to acknowledge the difficulties and disappointments of life, while affirming--in the teary-eyed final reel--his cherished values of friendship and individual achievement. It's a Wonderful Lifewas not a big hit on its initial release, and it won no Oscars (Capra and Stewart were nominated); but it continues to weave a special magic.--Robert Horton』

(Quite possibly the best season yet...) 『Hugh Laurie triumphs again in his sarcastic, cynical ways. Season five captivates the audience with not only his new team, but new and inventive problems in his patients, and himself. One of the best and my personal favorite drama series on TV, it's worth the low price. Recommended for anyone with even a hint of sarcasm in their bones, but not for the weak at heart.』
(House Season 5) 『Very good season with a surprising end despite some of the obvious subplots and predictable endings to some of the episodes. The characters' stories start to take over the show and the "diagnosing" takes a back seat to some of the "drama", but still a good season.』
(HOUSE, BEST DR ON TV) 『HOUSE IS THE BEST MEDICAL SHOW ON TV. HE MAY BE A CRAZY DR BUT HE IS ALL FOR FINDING A CURE EVEN IF HE DOESN'T LIKE PEOPLE. I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE A DR LIKE HOUSE.
I NOW OWN ALL 5 SEASONS AND EAGERLY AWAIT SEASON 6. I HOPE HOUSE CONTINUES FOR YEARS.
TERI』 『Studio: Uni Dist Corp. (mca) Release Date: 08/25/2009 Rating: Nr』 『Housebegins its fifth season on a somber note. With his girlfriend, Amber, dead, Dr. James Wilson (Robert Sean Leonard) finds his friendship with the cantankerous Dr. Gregory House (Hugh Laurie) to be more strained than ever and temporarily leaves the hospital where they work. He eventually returns, which is a good thing, because Wilson is the closest thingHousehas to a moral compass. The writers of this drama do an admirable job of inserting elements of well-placed comedy into the often-intense vignettes. Otherwise, House wouldn't be such a likable character. In fact, without the humor, he can often be downright despicable, especially to those he supposedly likes the most. Viewers learn that his lack of bedside manner (in and out of the hospital) probably was passed down from his father (R. Lee Ermey, who makes a brief appearance).
All 24 episodes--which originally aired during the 2008-2009 television season--are included in this five-disc boxed set. A few of the episodes are tainted by a soap opera vibe, particularly the ones concentrating on the romance between Dr. Eric Foreman (Omar Epps) and Dr. Remy ""Thirteen"" Hadley (Olivia Wilde). Based on the first four seasons, Foreman's behavior seems way off. While love can change a man, it doesn't seem likely that Foreman would change this much--not even for someone as compelling as Thirteen. But House's boss, Dr. Lisa Cuddy (Lisa Edelstein), has a juicy story line involving her quest to have a family. The struggles she goes through to adopt a baby depict how challenging it can be for women--even those who excel at everything else--to have it all. But her story line also shows that she is more resilient than she gives herself credit for. For all its medical jargon and scenes set in the operating room,Housereally is about relationships more than anything else. That's why when another character tragically dies this season, viewers take the loss to heart.--Jae-Ha Kim

However, what I DON'T love about Season 3 is the way Showtime/CBS set up the DVD! Unlike Season 1&2 you CANNOT skip the opening credit/theme song and go directly to the start of the episode. This is highly aggravating. I understand how this could be a small annoyance to some but this really gets under my skin. If you've seen the opening credits once, you don't really need to see them again. Plus I hate that Blood Orange part. Gross. You can fast forward the credits but you cannot chapter skip, if you chapter skip it'll start mid-episode.
Also, the Special Features are lacking. Why no Gag Reel? Why do we have to put the disc in the Computer to access other features?
Dexter is a great show and I will continue to watch it, I'll keep my review at 5 stars but if I had to review Disc Setup and Features, I would give it a 1!』
(Dexter season 3) 『This is a great season with a twist ending! Dexter is the best thing to happen to tv since Buffy the Vampire Slayer!』
(Dexter) 『this is so good! keeps you guessing and makes you root for the killer! if you like your heros dark - this is for you!!』
(Further interesting developments in the life of Dexter) 『The third season of Dexter moves right along where the last season left off. Distrrict attorney Miguel Prado (Jimmy Smits) becomes Dexter's new friend, though he becomes a little too interested in Dexter's shadowy life. All through the season Dexter (Michael C. Hall) also gets closer to living a normal, domestic life as he and Rita are about to get married. Dexter must learn to adjust to this new aspect of his life as he loses more of his freedom, and his ability to lead a double life becomes more complicated.
As with past seasons there is one major new serial killer to deal with. This time there is the Skinner, so named because he leaves his victims missing patches of their skin. One major change in the third season is the fantasy sequences with Dexter imaging what his father is thinking, as he gives his son guidance, ideas, or arouses guilt. In past seasons flashbacks were used when Dexter was remembering his father. This fantasy elements adds an interesting sub layer to Dexter's thought processes, and perhaps could also be saying something about how Dexter is dealing with the trauma's of his life through fantasy, or perhaps even through split personality. Is this a crack in the Dexter psyche? the beginning of a sort of psychosis, even as he is supposedly becoming more normal. The third season offers just as many thrills, and twists, and intriguing characters as previous seasons in this continually fascinating TV series.』
(Pals or Hermits: The Choices one makes) 『Everyone wants a friend. In Dexter's case its not that different. Considering all the things that are going on in his life - his brother (Season 1), the Bay Harbor Buther (Season 2), and the things that happened between himself and Rita (Paul, Lila, the changes in rita's characters, and other surpises) its only normal to want someone to share with. But to share your firend with your dark passenger, explainign things that stay better by darkness - that can be a problem.
As far as Dexter goes, I have to say that it has remained one of my favorite shows on television. There have been so many plots that have surprised me, from the things with the Ice Truck Killer to the way that Dexter slipped the noose in Season 2, and things continue to grow from here. Now we have Dexter attempting to make sense of his life as Rita grows, thinking about what a family is and how it could fit into his world. Rita has undergone changes as well (I've foudn some of those bad, but that is totally an opinon of my own), as have so many of the characters that Dexter calls "friends." Of course, these firends are just cover and Dexter mixes it up with somoen that promises him more than that. The development of this story, coupled with the already great stroytelling that Dexter brings to the scrceen, is amazingly fresh. The acting is superb, too, with everyone from the sister that still feels the torment of rejection to the drinking frinds and lab partners that have storylines all their own. In many ways this sets the show apart because, unlike other series, it does not ignore the things that happen to the people around Dexter. It merges them and changes them, making waves that sometimes help and sometimes threaten.
I personally give the show my highest seal of approval, noting just how fast I went throught the seasons on DVD. They are addictive things, and they are not horrific like they could be. Bloody - yes, horric - not so much. Even people in my family that can't stomach some CSI episodes watch the show with passion. As I write this I have already entered the fourth season as well, with even the newest addition to the force (one Quinn for a likeable Dokes)making this reviewer happy. Sometimes I feel like I have Dexter fever, even wanting a "bowl till you Bleed" team shirt. It truly makes you love it in ways you wouldn't have thought possible.』 『Dexter is an American television drama series that airs on American premium channel Showtime. Set in Miami, the series centers on Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall), a serial killer governed by a strict moral code who works for the Miami Metro Police Department as a blood spatter analyst.』 『Showtime's breakout hit seriesDexter, about a lovable psychopath, a serial killer who targets only the scummiest of the scum, hits its stride in season 3. Dexter Morgan, played with nuance and glee by the outstanding Michael C. Hall, begins the season somewhat chastened by the events of the previous season--where whiffs of his secret life became known to others and he was nearly found out. "I need to find out what it's like just to be normal. If that's something that's even possible for me," he muses, as he tries to settle in to domestic life with girlfriend Rita (the baby-voiced Julie Benz) and her kids.
Yet Dexter is soon back to his compulsion for seeking out criminals who've somehow escaped traditional justice. Hall, one of TV's most talented actors, manages to make Dexter's off-kilter moral compass totally believable, if not quite sympathetic. The rest of the cast is stellar, including Dex's sister, Debra, played by Jennifer Carpenter as the seemingly more combustible Morgan--a hot-tempered Miami detective in the same division where Dexter toils in the background as a blood-spatter specialist. Deb wears her heart on her sleeve, as a cop and a sister, and her deep love for her brother is a key part of what makesDexterso human. (And Carpenter's chemistry with Hall is amped by the fact that in real life, the actors are married.)
Season 3's breakout guest star is the amazing Jimmy Smits, who plays District Attorney Miguel Prado, a polished pillar of the community, an ambitious politician--and a guy with a secret every bit as dark as Dexter's. As Miguel and Dexter peel away each other's unsavory layers, Dexter tries to tamp down Miguel's blistering desire for revenge, and Miguel begins leading a double life--one that could threaten Dexter's life and family as much as the growing list of bad guys in Miguel's crosshairs. The other main star ofDexteris the city of Miami, its teeming beauty and corruption celebrated in equal measure, and its blistering sun shot without tempering. The city is so integral, visually and viscerally, that it's impossible to think ofDexterbeing shot anywhere else. The set's best extras--engaging interviews with cast members Hall, Benz, Carpenter, Lauren Vélez (Lt. Maria Laguerta) and David Zayas (Det. Angel Batista)--must be watched on a computer, for reasons that are unclear. Still, the interviews are must-sees for allDexterfans. It's a killer season. --A.T. Hurley』

When the 1st episode of "The Prisoner" was aired by ITV in September 1967 in the UK (June 1968 in the USA by CBS), "Sgt. Peppers" was still at number one and the Summer of Love was in full swing. All things seemed possible - and at the same time - with the Vietnam War, Race Riots and the escalation of Government control over personal lives - many things seemed slightly sinister too...
Enter into this volatile soup the cocky and charismatic actor Patrick McGoohan fresh from his global TV success as John Drake in "Danger Man". The distinctly voiced actor (born in New York, but raised in Ireland and Britain) had a mind-bending idea for a new "spy" TV series limited to only 7 episodes. "The Village" would be a self-contained world where no one had a name but a number - and would act as a sort of containment home for retired secret agents that big-brother Government wanted to control and keep an eye on. Each week would see a new Number 2 trying to crack Number 6 (McGoohan) through ever more elaborate means. It was a brilliant pitch and Lew Grade (head of Independent Television) thought it was "...crazy enough that it might just work...". But come February 1968 when the truly-out-there final episode "Fall Out" was aired, McGoohan was on the defensive and practically being run out of his own country by angry and confused fans... How utterly cool!
First to the details - UK-released on BLU RAY in September 2009 (Oct 2009 in the USA with different packaging) - this UK-only packaging is a wide box-of-chocolates shaped set with two compartments - the first contains a near-300 page paperback book entitled "The Prisoner - A Complete Production Guide" by ANDREW PIXLEY. It was originally produced exclusively for NETWORK and their 2007 remastered DVD box and is reprinted here; the second inset has a 6-disc BLU RAY clip box (each disc features a different picture). It contains all 17 episodes (the complete series) and has copious amounts of extras including input from those involved, previously unseen behind-the-scenes footage and several commentaries by the production crew.
While the paperback is fan-obsessed with details and a truly informative account, it is completely devoid of any photographs, which I feel is not just disappointing, but does this otherwise fantastic presentation a major disservice. While there are loads of pictures on Disc 6 (in High Def) and fabulous complimentary features too - it would have been nice to trawl over a really good book featuring photos of those superb production values. No disrespect to the author whose work here is incredible and must have taken years of research, it just that all words and no visual make it a very dry read (probably too cost-prohibitive).
But that minor niggle quickly pales into insignificance once your eyes see the frame-by-frame fully restored 35mm print. Presented in 1:33:1 aspect and filling the full screen - it is ABSOLUTELY GLORIOUS TO LOOK AT - and puts many a modern production to shame. I noticed maybe only one or two occasions where the image had lines or some other stock fault - for 98% of the time, the digitally restored high definition print is faultless and a constant joy and revelation to look at.
Filmed in a real-life folly called Portmeirion in Gwynedd in Wales (fans still visit the town in Prisoner regalia), the entire seaside town was the dream of architect Clough Williams-Ellis who purchased the peninsula in 1923 and began building his own Mediterranean village there complete with an English twist. Portmeirion had in fact featured in previous "Danger Man" episodes and McGoohan and his family had often holidayed there. With a budget of£50,000-per-episode, a large uniquely clothed cast of extras and an entire town bathed in summer sunshine to play with, the extraordinary location and production values collided to produce a vision that stuns to this day.
The clarity is AWESOME... There's a scene in Episode 1 "Arrival" where McGoohan is offered a chair in Number Two's lair - a hole in the floor slides across and up pops a stool - but this time you can clearly see that the hole is cardboard - and not steel. In Episode 2 "The Chimes Of Big Ben" when Nadia Gray wakes up as Number 8, you can see her hair is immaculate and her eyelids are heavily pasted in blue makeup... (the episode also features Finlay Currie as the General who was Magwitch the Convict in David Lean's masterpiece "Great Expectations") - and on it goes!
Although made in the late Sixties and featuring those kind of dated hair-dos and fashions, "The Prisoner" rose above that by virtue of its premise - and in fact viewing it some 42 years later - because of this, its still staggeringly relevant - especially on the core subjects of individual freedom and Governmental control...
I've reviewed quite a few superlative restorations before this - "North By Northwest", "The Italian Job", "Cool Hand Luke", "Saturday Night, Sunday Morning" and "The Loneliness Of The Long Distance Runner" (see reviews for all), but this takes the gong.
"The Prisoner" on BLU RAY is bound to make many fans go weak at the knees and will hopefully draw in a new generation of lovers for one of the most extraordinary television programs ever made.
Like William Shatner and Star Trek, McGoohan had a notoriously spiky relationship with the character and TV series that defined and pigeonholed him for decades...but you can't help but feel that Patrick is up there right now beaming down at this wonderful box set.
Is "Number 1" that part of you that capitulates - as McGoohan seemed to suggest when the mask was finally unveiled in "Fall Out"? I don't know. But that's what "The Prisoner" is like - it's thought provoking, contemporary and still stunningly brilliant. And now it has the box set on the definitive format that it has always deserved.
Reissue of the year - in any format.』
(Great Picture, Sound Quibbles) 『I just got the set and right away, I agree with other reviewers - the picture is great! I never thought it could look so good. I'm constantly pausing the show to enjoy the image.
The stereo sound is another matter. Right during part 2 of the opening, ("Where am I?" "In the Village."), I hear that remastered sound "anomaly" that plagues restored movies. When the Rover bubble comes up, there's a swooshing, swirling, muddy sound like it was played in a revolving cylinder. I noticed it again in "The Chimes Of Big Ben" when Number 6 starts putting the radio speaker into the small fridge. When I went to the mono track, the sound was back to normal. Thank you, A&E, for keeping that option! I'm sticking with mono from now on.
That swirly sound in DVD movies is most often heard during explosions. It bugs the heck out of me. If the sound engineers can't improve a sound, why don't they just leave it alone? I'm only running this through a home stereo, so I don't know if a fancy 3.1 or 5.1 audio setup would correct this.
The only other quibble is why the episode theme is so much louder than the rest of the show. I love the theme music, but why the difference? (I've only watched "The Chimes Of Big Ben" so far).
In summary, it's a great product. Okay, one more quibble. Why did they change the logo? I love the Prisoner typeface, so why remove the eyecatching original? To make it like the remake, I suppose. The same is true of the Mission: Impossible DVDs and the Invaders DVD sets. (I had a hard time finding The Invaders set on the shelf because the title style was so bland).』
(EYE popping Blu-RAY editon.....) 『Hello Folks,
rather that discuss this legendary series , I'm here to report (after release and purchase) that this is a stunning looking Blu-Ray. There was much conversation before the release as to if it was the better UK version or simply a rehash of previous domestic standard DVD and video and its obvious to the eye that this is the best available and actually shockingly terrific looking. If you are a fan upgrade immediately...its 50% off and worth every penny. You can read about the series on many other reviews if you are not familiar with it but I figure most people looking for the BLu-Ray version know the show and are asking...about the quality. Its GREAT!』
(Awesome picture and sound, bad subtitles) 『Let me start by saying this set looks amazing! The quality is a huge improvement over the previous dvd version and the sound is also pretty good although some will be upset that there is no hd audio track. The extras are pretty good although a large amount of them are in standard definition, a bit disappointing for a somewhat pricey blu-ray set. I would have been pretty much completely happy and given the set 5 out of 5 stars had I not discovered the terrible job of subtitling that was done - My wife is from Japan and sometimes has problems understanding accents so she asked that I turn on the subtitles for her. Pretty much every line is paraphrased. With a show this intelligent and considering all the wit and sarcasm that comes from Mcgoohan something is definitely lost in translation. They even paraphrased one of the shows most famous lines: I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed, or numbered! My life is my own. With as much money as I paid for this you would think they could pay someone to actually translate correctly :( 』
(Amazing Picture Quality-Like Watching It For The First Time) 『Other reviewers on this site as well as countless websites and books have discussed the brilliance of this television show, so I will not be discussing the show itself but rather the picture and sound quality of this amazing edition. I have been a long time fan of this show and have the collection on regular DVD and have seen it in various runs on television. Watching the blu-ray edition, however, is almost like watching it for the first time. The picture quality, the colors, the sound are all astonishing. The bright colors are brighter than ever but I also noticed all sorts of little details in the background that I had never noticed before, and you really notice the excellence of the soundtrack (please note my comments on the sound are based on the mono sound not the 5.1). I think the degree of picture detail is why it felt like it was watching a new show. If you are a true fan this is a must have and really if you are a fan it would be worth buying a blu-ray player just to watch these.』 『If a top-level spy decided he didn't want to be a spy anymore, could he just walk into HQ and hand in his resignation? With all that classified knowledge in his head, would he be allowed to become a civilian again, free to go about his life? The answer, according to the stylish, brilliantly conceived 1960s British TV seriesThe Prisoner, is a resounding no. In fact, instead of receiving a gold watch for his years of faithful service, our hero (played by Patrick McGoohan) is followed home to his London flat and knocked unconscious. When he awakens, he finds himself in a picturesque village where everyone is known by a number. Where is it? Why was he brought here? And, most important, how does he leave?
As we learn in Episode 1, Number 6 can't leave. The Village's "citizens" might dress colorfully and stroll around its manicured gardens while a band plays bouncy Strauss marches, but the place is actually a prison. Surveillance is near total, and if all else fails, there's always the large, mysterious white ball that subdues potential escapees by temporarily smothering them. Who runs the Village? An ever-changing Number 2, who wants to know why Number 6 resigned. If he'd only cooperate, he's told, life can be made very pleasant. "I've resigned," he fumes. "I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed, or numbered. My life is my own." So sets the stage for the ultimate battle of wills: Number 6's struggle to retain his privacy, sanity, and individuality against the array of psychological and physical methods the Village uses to break him.
So does he ever escape? And does he ever find out who Number 1 is? "Questions are a burden to others," the Village saying goes. "Answers, a prison for oneself." Within this complete 17-episode set, all is revealed. Or is it?--Steve Landau
Also on the disc The 17 episodes are contained on four Blu-ray discs, and they look fantastic. This is older footage (1968) that really shows a marked improvement in high definition. Audio can be played in either Dolby Digital 5.1 or the original mono. Bonus features are included on the episode discs and on a fifth disc, which is a standard-definition DVD rather than a Blu-ray disc.Don't Knock Yourself Outis a 95-minute documentary from 2007 about the history ofThe Prisoner, including the early career of Patrick McGoohan and how a trip to Wales forDanger Manhelped him discover Portmerion. New interviews with the original cast and crew are complemented by archive footage. There are two new featurettes--"The Pink Prisoner" and "You Make Sure It Fits!"--as well as production-crew commentaries on seven episodes, archive textless materials, extensive images and production archives, and a 30-second promo for the 2009 AMC miniseries.--David Horiuchi』
『Since its CBS debut in the summer of 1968, the masterful British TV series THE PRISONER has captivated American audiences. Now A&E presents a definitive aficionado's edition of the cult classic which is considered one of the most innovative TV series ever filmed, for the first time in breathtaking Blu-Ray. Fully restored from the original film elements with newly remixed 5.1 surround sound and featuring hours of bonus material never released in North America, THE PRISONER: BLU-RAY EDITION is a fitting tribute to the creative vision of the late Executive Producer and Star Patrick McGoohan.
After resigning from a top-secret position, a man (McGoohan) is abducted and spirited from his London home to a mysterious place known only as 'The Village.' Village Residents, known only by numbers, are held captive because each possesses valuable knowledge. The Prisoner, now known as Number Six, battles to protect his mind -- and his humanity -- while struggling to discover the identity of Number One and escape captivity.

I have a compact microwave and the larger bags won't fit. This was not only a great deal, it is a healthy single serving snack that has aided me in my weight loss. Salty/Sweet, fluffly, perfectly done in less than 90 seconds. So glad I bought it.』
(Try it before you buy a large quantity) 『I bought three boxes of the Kettle Korn ("Slightly Swee&Slightly Salty") flavor at my local grocery store. Nobody in my family likes this flavor at all. It's actually going into the trash, that's how bad it tastes.
Our tastes may be different than yours, so go ahead and try it. Just don't buy a lot of it without trying it first.』
(Perfectly packaged popcorn for single people) 『Say that 10 times fast! It's true though. They really put just enough kernels in the bag to satisfy you without feeling like you should have made 2! I love the Kettle Korn flavor too! If you've never tried it, you don't know what you're missing. It can be very addictive so maybe you better not try. Neah! Go right ahead! It's popcorn - a great healthy snacking alternative to chips, candy, and other junk food.
Tip: It says not to use the popcorn button on your microwave which is good advice but if you check that booklet thingy that came with yours (if you can remember which drawer it's buried in) you might find that your popcorn button has multiple size settings like my Samsung model does. All it takes for me is to press the popcorn button 3 times to select "Snack size" and it comes out perfect every time - none burnt or scorched and only a few kernels unpopped.』

Just the thing to enjoy while watching a TV show or movie.』 『Orville Redenbacher's Gourmet Popping Corn is the perfect snack to share with the family, and it's available in Movie Theater Butter, Butter, Butter Light, Smart Pop! 94% Fat Free, Kettle Korn, and many other great flavors.』

cons: no external memory no external batter you have to baby it because of the screen scroll wheel either moves too fast or too slow i paid an arm an a leg and then the touch screen cam out ! lol search is kind hard converting video almost isnt worth the time』
(Completely worth every penny) 『Apple iPod classic 80 GB Black (6th Generation) OLD MODEL has got to be my favorite portable music, video, and photo device. The reason for me purchasing a iPod classic and not a iTouch is because I have always enjoyed watching movies more than anything else; ofcourse you can watch movies on a iTouch with a larger screen. But the highest amount of GB is about 26 GB on the iTouch.Unlike its predecessors the Apple iPod classic 80 GB Black (6th Generation) OLD MODEL has even greater battery life for watching movies, and will last about all day. Except playing games does lower the battery quicker because it requires more interface, and is just battery consuming. I have only about 25 GB space left over on my iPod.With all the movies, shows, music, pictures, and more. I use this iPod everywhere I go. While on the my way to College or just plugging it to my car. I have not hade any single problems with my iPod and will recommend this product to anyone who enjoys a quality product for your buck. Also purchased the iPod 30 or 80 GB iPod Classic Bundle 15 accessories. Was also worth every penny check it out if your deciding on this product. If you do enjoy movies and do not want to pay about 4.99 for each movie on iTunes. Then you might want to purchase a iPod Video Converter. I recommend Xilisoft Video Converter, but you might need to purchase a registration code. This product will save you in the long run of purchasing movies on iTunes. It will burn DVDs to your iPod in just a little amount of time with no extra payments needed.』
(Awesome) 『I was hesitant to buy a refurbished Ipod, but Im so glad I did! Works just like new, as long as you plug it into Itunes and "update the software" (which is free to do) there are no problems. Looks new, comes with new back chrome plate which was nice. The plate doesnt have the apple logo on it however :( its just a blank plate. Came with everything (charger, headphones, warranty) which was awesome because it was all included in the price, (which was cheap for an Ipod) Does everything I need it to do and works like new. Would definitely recommend these guys (Ipod Zens) to anyone!!』
(Great Buy, Seller is Great) 『Couldn't be happier, product came in time expected in great shape and haven't had one problem with anything. Very Happy....』
(I can't imagine buying any other mp3 device) 『I bought this 160 GB ipod two years ago, and this thing is just a tank. It never fails and I use it every single day of my life. I seriously wouldn't understand anyone ever buying an mp3 device that isn't called "iPod". I measure a purchase in its ability to innovate, and to last for a very long time under heavy usage. I have hauled this thing to work, school, clubs, restaurants, and friends houses while dropping it, sitting on it, and jogging with it down the street. It still starts every day without a hitch, and mocks me and my inadvertent attempts to slow its never-ending production and execution. Seriously, why would you consider anything else? If you have a huge music collection as I do, nothing else substitutes for this 160 GB model. Mp3 perfection.』 『With 80 GB of storage, iPod classic gives your music and video room to move. Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Ok value) 『I agree with other reviewers that the red on this suit is a burgundy or plum, not a fire engine red like you may expect, but my 7-year-old is still pleased with it and I was pleased with the price, so I still consider it a good value. I didn't have any problems with holes or stitching as others have, and our suit cape did come with a velcro fastener, unlike a previous reviewer's experience so I don't know if they modified the costume based on feedback or not.』
(Superman Muscle Costume) 『Great costume... great quality and lots of fun!!! My two year old loved it. It washes well also.』
(Look elsewhere for luxe...) 『I bought this product for my almost 5 year old son, and paid appr. $[...] plus shipping. while he loves it I found two major flaws - first the seams were so poorly sewn I had to mend no less than 8 holes even before my son was able to wear it. Second, the cape hangs around the neck creating a strangulation hazard, and this is especially so because the cape is long and gets easily stuck. Come on - superman doesn't walk or sit - he flies, jumps and runs! I cut the cape open in the front and sew snap buttons on the shoulders so that it falls off if it gets stuck. velcro would work too. Bottom line - I spent hours fixing a brand new suit and would never have ordered it knowing that. Unfortunately it was too late to return and buy another one. Oh, and I agree with the other reviewer that it is not red at all - much more maroon than the pictures indicate. I still give it 2 stars because my son is absolutely loving it.』
(Excellent quality!) 『I was very pleased with this costume. The quality is very good. This costume will last a long time. Everything you see in the picture...chest, boots, belt, cape, etc. is what you get. Fabulous Superman costume! My son was very happy he got to be is favorite Super Hero =) Thank you Amazon for the great deal!』
(My Son Wont Take It Off) 『My son will not take this costume off. I figured that purchasing this costume for a lower amount than I could purchase it at the store, that something would be wrong with it. When I received it, it was still in the plastic bag and in great condition. My son loves to dress up and I am sure it will be well worn by the time he grows out of it.』 『Its not a bird or a plane it really is Superman in this Awesome Muscle Chest Kids Costume. (Great Toy for Manny Fans) 『This is an awesome toy for Handy Manny fans. My girls (aged 5 and 2) have had it for nearly a year and it rarely goes a day without being used. They love the tools and use them to measure and "work" on other toys. My youngest sings the hop hop jump in song when she puts the tools back in the toolbox. I recently got another one for my nephew who just turned five, and he adores it just as much as my kids.』
(Great Toy, hours of entertainment) 『My kids just love this toy. I have both 4 year old and 1 year old daughters. Manny can hold each one of the toys or clip to his too belt. Tons of phrases. I do find myself picking up the tools throughout the house, but they do all fit right back in the toolbox. Item description says not for under 3 years old due to choking hazard, but by 1 year old is fine with it, and she puts absolutely everything in her mouth. I don't see a way she could choke on it.』
(He likes it!) 『It seems to be well made and durable. Have had it for about 2 months and my son still plays with it. He likes putting the tools in the tool box and on the belt.』
(Great Toy) 『My son turned 2 in November and got this for his BDAY. He loves it. There are 25 different phrases. Some come from pushing his belt buckle, and some come from moving his thumb. It has really helped develop my sons vocabulary. He mimics everything that Manny says. They small toys fit easily into Manny's hand. Some of the toys fall off of Manny's belt, but not all of them do.

Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (The Fallen!) 『I really needed to get The Fallen for my TF collection. One of things that disappointed me even before I bought this figure was the fact that the ROTF toyline doesn't have any Ultra Class figures. Ideally, the Fallen should be bigger than the a regular Voyager class... so either Ultra or Leader.
Kinda put off by the fact that this hands can't hold anything (gun/spear), and not really impressed by the 'solar panels' around his head and arms. Beyond that, the concept with his feet are really cool and he poses pretty well.
The transformation to the jet was one of more difficult ones I've done, but not impossible. I think the jet mode is really lame though... as some others mentioned, they made the robot and figured they had to come up with an alternate mode and just force-fitted the alien destroyer mode. It's not bad, but not great either.
That said, I think this is a pretty cool toy. Very sinister looking and movie accurate, but even otherwise... you can imagine him to the be arch-villain behind Megatron.』
(A great toy to some...) 『Overall, this is a great toy, but it does have some downsides. Here is a list of pros and cons:
Pros: Great articulation and detail. It also has many moving "Mech-Alive" features that do not negatively effect the toys value.
Cons: These wouldn't matter to the average buyer, but the toys paint scheme is a tad inaccurate to the movie. He is an odd shade of dark green, and not matte black, and he lacks the reflective turquoise on his headdress spikes. He also lacks the spear he has in the movie, but a you could find one around your house.
Pro/Con: He transforms, which he lacks the ability to do in the movie and comics, which is a bonus for some, and a burden for others.
The cons might make the pros look fewer and far between, but if paint accuracy isn't that big of a matter, this toy is perfect. If paint does matter, don't get me wrong, this is a great MOLD for you. Hasbro has designed a more accurate, flame deco version, which will be released around November, just in time for the Holiday Season.』
(ROCKS!!!!!) 『I LOVE THIS TOY i got this at wall-mart and had so much fun with this buy it!!!』
(ROCKS!!!!!) 『I LOVE THIS TOY i got this at wall-mart and had so much fun with this buy it!!!』
(Really Cool!) 『This is one version, of two, of The Fallen in toy form (the other form being approximately a 4 inch tall figure), and this figure is really neat! The Voyager series is quite possibly the best version of the Transformer figures we get with this particular movie. The figures run at about $23 depending on where you buy them.
I also bought the Optimus and Megatron figures of the Voyager editions and, this also goes with The Fallen, the figures all feel cheap. The plastic is extremely lightweight and it's tough to keep the figures from staying in their vehicle modes (Optimus) without the aid of a rubber band. As much as I love these figures I will say right now that the Transformers toys from the 80s were of better quality than these. These feel like toddler toys that will break apart at any second when you handle them.
That's the only downside to all of these figures. Otherwise, these figures are still worth the $23 as they are very well detailed and are a nicer alternative to purchasing some of the more expensive models of the toys. Although, with The Fallen, this is the top of the line. This figure is articulated in many areas and the feet are closed together by springs so it would be easier to transform it into The Fallen's vehicle form. To get the feet flat you simply have to set the figure up on a flat surface. But the spring-loaded feet make the figure look even cooler if you set it up on the edges of boxes where one or two toes are flat while the other toes are grappling the edges of the boxes.
The "solar panels" on either side of The Fallen's head can be folded to the back of his head to give a more authentic look to the figure. The transformation of the figure isn't all that easy so you'll want to keep the instructions that come with it.
Overall, the figure is exceptional and highly recommended for any collector or fan of the Transformers toys! The appendages look great as well as the paint job!』 『For millennia, he has waited. Thousands of years have dragged by as he recruited proxies, one by one, to scour the cosmos for the artifact he required. Now he finds he must return to the primitive, flesh-slug infected planet on which his quest began. Nothing will stand in his way this time. If need be, he will scour the surface of this disgusting world clean in the fire of his rage, and search through the blasted rubble for that which he seeks.』

I decided to buy this after looking some very good pictures of this decepticon on Flickr... give it a try, you won't regret it.』
(Not durable enough for my kid... parts break off easily) 『THe parts break off easily and it was poorly made, the other one is bulkier but get it instead of this one. i do not reccomend this toy even though the jet form is cool.』
(Fantastico!) 『wow my first voyager, always thought they were just bigger but they have a little more going on than the deluxe class. with starscream theres more to the mechalive movement, and that oh so sweet transformation lasts a little longer, nd he is bigger, so compared to the deluxes hes more to scale. awesome cybertronian paint job, and i love that he finally has hands, theyre very menacing, his legs support him very well and the head sculpt looks great, he has missiles and gatling guns on both arms. my only complaint is pose ability limited by joint articulation in the arms and no torso movement. but thats basically how he handled in the movie, both of them. get him, hes the one you love to hate.』
(great toy!) 『Written by my 11 y.o. son, a big fan of the movies: This toy is so cool! It's very easy for me to stand up and the missiles are really cool! I think the mech alive thing is really nifty. The transformation is not very hard. overall it is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!』
(Difficult to work, bad instructions) 『the box said this was for 5+ year olds, but this is a very complex transformer with many small parts that need to be rotated to go from the fighter jet to Starscream. It took my son and his buddy about 2 hours to figure it out, with my help in between. The instructions are, sorry to say, crap. The printing budget must have been cut, because, although it is a large sheet of paper, but each step is so small and not really clear. They should have used both sides of the paper and made each step larger. Even I am having a hard time deciphering what needs to be turned which direction. My son (9) seems to have mastered it now, but my younger one (7) is still having difficulty with his Ironhide.
Caution: Although they look cool (and they are), be prepared for some frustration over how tight the pieces are and how bad the directions are. I would not give this to a 5 year old unless I had a lot of patience to assist.』 『The moment his sensor net registered MEGATRON going offline, STARSCREAM knew the battle was over, and the AllSpark lost. If your child likes Dora the way my daughter does, you have seen most of these stories on the boob tube already which makes it all the easier to compare the stories in the book to the actual episodes--unfortunately, this is a battle the book loses. Unlike Dora on Noggin, the interaction in the book is minimal and the (already plot thin) story lines are truncated. I don't necessarily regret buying it since she seems to enjoy it so much, but I have to admit I dread it when I see her running to me with this collection to read.』

Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Exploring the heart and mind of the homeless and mentally ill) 『Writer Steve Lopez comes across a homeless street musician playing surprisingly-well-rendered renditions of classical pieces on a 2-string violin to the accompaniment of city traffic, car horns and the screams of the mentally ill. Lopez wonders how such a talented man, Nathaniel Ayers, could have come to be on the streets. Through his LA Times newspaper columns and eventually this book, Lopez explores a story of hope lost in madness and hope reborn through the devotion of a friend.
Lopez's story was crudely simplified in the movie version. But in the book, the themes that Lopez's wrote about ring true. Mental illness was devastating blow to Ayers's aspirations. As the rare black city kid enchanted by classical music, he followed his dreams through long hours of practice to the Julliard School of Music. There, schizophrenia derailed his plans and sent him muttering and paranoid into the streets. Lopez masterfully portrays the precarious existence of the homeless, who need to fend off police, rats and each other for a measure of peace. But Lopez also comes face to face with his own naïveté. Thinking, hoping that Ayers could eventually give up the streets and regain his place in the concert hall, he runs into obstacles put up by Ayers himself. Getting him to live indoors, Lopez discovers, is not just a simple first step back to the concert stage. Ayers fiercely resists any attempt to remove him from the streets, where he feels a measure of safety and control.
"The Soloist" is not a feel good story in the usual sense, with a clear-cut happy ending. Instead, it is a story of the little victories that can be achieved with love and persistence, and the way that our minds and hearts are bettered by the victims we seek to help.』
(My speculation was incorrect! Buy this book!) 『I had never seen the movie when it came out. I never even thought about reading this book until I had an assignment in my English class that required me to read it. I thought that a novel written by a columnist would be stretched out and boring, but I couldn't have been more wrong.
If you have seen the movie and are debating whether or not you should buy the book, you HAVE to buy it. The story is much more interesting when it is told by the author, Steve Lopez.
If you have seen the movie, and you didn't like it, then read this book- it will make up for the time you wasted watching the movie. There is much more detail, much more sympathy, and a better understanding of the characters in the text of this novel.』
(Troubling) 『I just finished the book, and I live in Los Angeles, so I can definitely relate to the issues Lopez talks about.
One thing I have to comment on, though, is that although I respect Lopez's caring and compassion, not only for Nathaniel but for all of those struggling with homelessness, I really had a problem with Lopez's relationship with Nathaniel, and I believe Lopez got in over his head. Although his articles and meetings with those on the forefront of the homeless movement are admirable, I think his one on one friendship with Nathaniel is risky, even a bit dangerous. Lopez is not a doctor, as he is the first to admit, and who knows what he would have said or done that could have pushed Nathaniel over the edge. One example is bringing Nathaniel to his home for Easter. Sorry, but I find that a bit bizarre, unnecessary and potentially dangerous for Lopez's family. Once Lopez made the acquaintance of Nathaniel, I think he should have left the rest of it to the professionals, rather than getting in over his head dealing with an illness he does not understand.
I would have liked to have seen Lopez's efforts go towards combatting/writing about the entire homeless issue, rather than spending all of his time with this one man. Not to be cynical, but I really don't think Lopez would have spent the time and effort with Nathaniel if the latter's story wasn't interesting enough to be fodder for a bunch of newspaper columns. There is definitely some narcissim there on the part of Lopez.
So although the book is well written and Nathaniel's story is fascinating, I am bothered enough by the whole relationship to only give this a two star review. 』
(Great book, and movie!) 『I heard the movie was coming out through a local NAMI chapter, so I decided I had to read the book before the movie came out. The book was great! Lopez is an excellent journalist/storyteller. My father was homeless for several years due to schizophrenia prior to his passing. Reading the experiences in this book brought back many loving memories of my father, and the choices we had to make as a result of his illness. I enjoyed both the book and the movie, and highly recommend both.』
(I liked this book) 『I saw the movie "The Soloist" and then read the book. Both are very good. The book, like most books that are made into movies, goes into greater detail than the movie does. This book not only is about friendship, but you get a better understanding of mental illness. Also, this book gives the reader an idea of how bad the homeless situation is.』 『Now a major motion picture-"An intimate portrait of mental illness, of atrocious social neglect, and the struggle to resurrect a fallen prodigy." (Mark Bowden, author ofBlack Hawk Down)
This is the true story of journalist Steve Lopez's discovery of Nathaniel Ayers, a former classical bass student at Julliard, playing his heart out on a two-string violin on Los Angeles' Skid Row. Deeply affected by the beauty of Ayers's music, Lopez took it upon himself to change the prodigy's life-only to find that their relationship has had a profound change on his own life.』

It has a unique, fun cast of characters, incredible, one-of-a-kind plot, and reads like it isn't hundreds of pages long! So I've got to warn readers - this isn't a kid's book. I don't know any kids who liked this book; they thought it was scary. It's a little dark, and some scenes are pretty intense. This book isn't obscene, it doesn't have sexual content, and it isn't gory. It just doesn't have a tone or situations that are appealing, instead of frightening, to kids. Think about it; all those books you love are DANGEROUS! The evil characters can come out and take you hostage! Not something for kids who scare easily. What's more, only one character, Meggie, is a child. All the other characters, including ones who play as big a role in the story as Meggie, are adults or in their late teens. It's a great book, as long as you don't go in expecting a kid's book.
』
(Jenna Lake Tapps says"great book") 『The name of this book is Inkheart. You would think that a book called Inkheart would be about an Inkheart or dark and creepy stuff. Well if you think that this book is about that kind of stuff you are wrong. This book is about fantasy stuff. When I first started this book I was hooked. I thought I was not going to like it but I was wrong. Inkheart has over 500 pages. It was written by Cronelia Funke. In the story Inkheart it's about a girl named Maggie. Maggie's fathers name is Mo. Mo can read people out of any book. When Maggie was little her mother wanted Mo to read her favorite book. When Mo started reading three strangers appeared out of nowhere in their living room. Mo stopped reading and Maggie's mother disappeared. Mo looked everywhere for her but he could not find her. A couple of years past and Maggie found out that she had the gift too. Mo read another book and a stranger came out. Maggie met one of the strangers. Cornella Funke is a great author. My favorite part of the book is when Maggie made everything good. I liked it because it was very detailed. I think this book teaches you that you can do anything. Never give up. Some books in this series are Inkspell and Inkdeath. I thought that this book was a very good book. My rating out of a scale of one to five I would give it a five. 』
(Awesome read!!) 『I purchased this during the summer for my kids to read and listen to the audio. This way they worked on reading and listening skills. We would listen to the CD's in the car and on trips and read at bed time. They loved it. I enjoyed it also and had to go back and read what I missed. My kids are in 6th and 7th grade and have to read so much during the school year I try to break it up with a book on CD to help the larger the book the better. The story was awesome and not hard to follow enjoyed every minute of it.』
(One of my favorites) 『I only buy books which I really like alot. This story is so much more than the movie and the sequels only get better and better. You have to get all three. The characters are endearing especially Dustfinger and the story has enough action and suspense to keep everyone happy.』
(Less than I was expecting) 『This book had such potential, but I really felt like it was all over the place. I expected to just devour this book. Instead it took me 3 days to read once I finally got started. I never felt really afraid of the villain Capricorn, at least as not as much as I felt I should be. I know its a children's book, but it felt like the author didn't want to you to feel much of anything for the characters. The characters I felt were developed the most were the secondary characters Basta and Dustfinger. The plot was an excellent idea, but if felt like the author wondered how to make the book longer with very little in the way of substance. The best part was the last 100 pages or so. There is finally felt like something was being accomplished. It was there the book redeemed itself. I will probably continue to read the series, but only because I want to know what happens next, not because it was a fantastic read.』 『Meggies father, Mo, has an wonderful and sometimes terrible ability. When he reads aloud from books, he brings the characters to life--literally. Mo discovered his power when Maggie was just a baby. He read so lyrically from the the bookInkheart, that several of the books wicked ch
