(Sex Machine [Live])

(Very disappointing live shots)

(Ah, James....)

(The real thing - totally hot, genuine and funky)

(**** Slack Jawed ! ****)
James Brown-Sex Machine [Live] *****

Okay first off, this is by far the best live album the Godfather ever released. Yes, even better than Live At The Apollo(1963), in fact it is much better. That was never one of my favorite live albums, I never understood what the big hype about it was, sure the story is cool but that doesn't make the performance any better. Now this, this is a live album.

All the intensity of Brown's legendary performances is captured. The vocals are audible 100% of the time, the band sounds just plain amazing here. That is the one thing the Apollo album had though was one amazing band, they never sounded so good as they did on that album, but they sound just fine here. Songs like 'I Got That Feelin' and 'Get Up I Feel Like A Sex Machine' come to life like you have never heard them before. Simply amazing performances. 'Give It Up Or Turn It Loose' is powerful. 'Its A Mans World' and the classic 'Please, Please, Please' are the best I have ever heard, and in fact this is the only version of 'Please' I can bare. But what seems to be the best on the album is the closer. 'Mother Popcorn' captured here is easily the best version of the song. Long been my favorite Brown song I have always felt that it would always make the best song to end a concert, and this why.

Sex Machine is a fantastic live, one of the very best of all time. The proof is in the pudding so take a bite.

Only the disc two of the original vinyl album contains real live material, and it's highly disappointing. If you want to hear James Brown at his best, skip this album and buy Live at the Apollo Vol. 2 instead. The studio tracks (6 cuts) were much better, but they are available on many compilations, and you don't really need this album.
James, you let me down, brother...I thought out of all the people in the world, you were gonna be the one that lived forever. I thought you were immortal, super-bad, and impervious to death. That's okay, man, I forgive you. You will continue to live on in my heart, my mind, and of course, in my soul with your great recordings. I know that wherever you are now, James, you are makin' it funky.

Thank You for blessing my life...

Maybe the reason i don't like hip-hop is because i heard this album (and many others) by the master of minimalism and soul. James Brown released a lot of hot albums, but this one oozes sweat and energy. That simple. Listening to this album is like standing at a primordial swamp at the dawn of creation: a TON of contemporary black music is directly indebted to and descended from J.B and especially this album. Just *$^@+++$&&!&!~ing buy it already
As a long time fan of Mr. Dynamite , I have collected a LOT of his recordings, and although I do especially love the Live Apollo shows especially 62 and 67 , THIS recording IMO runs circles around those two. It's the JB's with Bootsy and Catfish Collins and Bobby Byrd and Fred Wesley that make this record SMOKE !.........It's actually from two different dates and two different bands , but it ALL works !!!........If your a fan or a newcomer who wants to hear what " The Hardest Working Man in Showbusiness " is REALLY all about , then pick this record up ........You'll soon understand what all the fuss is about ....Enjoy !

After the legendaryLive at the Apolloand the even betterLove Power Peace: Live at the Olympia, James Brown could be forgiven if this 1970 live set disappoints. But this is Brother James, so skip the forgiveness.Sex Machineis the bomb, capturing a thrilling moment in Brown's funky revolution. The disc features 12 hot and sweaty, and sometimes slinky, live cuts recorded with the James Brown Band in 1969, plus three more studio jams (including a 10-minute title track) with his next band, the great JB's. "Can I get into it?" James shouts at the top. Oh man--does he even have to ask?--David Cantwell

(Very sexy!)

(there is nothing new in this DVD)

(GREAT SEX - GREAT INFORMATION)
Good info for women, and a great DVD that men can give to their girlfriends or wives if she's not adventurous enough. There are man-on-the-street sound bites from guys telling what they do or don't like which is a good primer for some women. Very hot setups show attractive couples doing everything from oral sex to many explicit positions. There is also a very erotic shower scene. The couples on the DVD are good-looking and seem legit... it's not porn but the scenarios are definitely very hot and I highly recommend.
There is nothing new in this DVD, unless you are a teenager or have very little experience in sex. Besides, the actors in it look like they are in 1980, very old-fashioned. Maybe it is fine with people who still live in eighties, for me it was a turn-off. Looks cheap and cheesy as well. I consider this purchase a waste of money and would never buy any other DVD of that collection.
If you are really interested in learning something new to spice up your love life and would like to see something attractive I suggest you get Kama Sutra The Sensual Art of Lovemaking in 2 DVDs instead. It is a real pleasure to watch, although not all of it is practical, unless you are an acrobat, most of it is useful and very beautiful.

What do men want? For years I've thought about this question and finally they've come up with a video that's going to give me all the answers, or so I hoped.
The video opens with an introduction by Dr. Bernie Ziebergeld explaining that his video is not about what EVERY man wants, but that it gives you some ideas of what many men want. It's a place to start at least. From there it goes into a man-in-the-street interview asking men what it is they want when it comes to sex.

The answers are really not all that surprising, one of which is that men want their partners to actually be interested in them and in sex in general. Apparently they enjoy it when the woman takes the initiative. "Being creative is important because it makes men feel that you care enough to share in the work of sex."
The video goes on to follow one couple, showing how the woman initiated sex with her partner by leaving a snapshot of herself in various stages of undress from the front door all the way to the bathroom shower where she waited for him. What follows is a shower scene where she washes him ... with slippery, soapy lather. (Note: Some soap can cause a burning sensation in the urethra) It's a very sexy scene. Matter of fact, I rewound the video and watched it again ;-) The couple then goes on to have sex while standing in the shower. Now I know this isn't always physically possible for some couples, but it was still sexy to see it work for them.
Back to the man-in-the-street to find out more of what men want again followed by a normal looking couple acting out one of the suggestions given by the men being interviewed. In all, there are five scenes acted out - Surprise in the Shower, Driver her Crazy in Bed, Fun in the Van, In the Jacuzzi, and An Erotic Birthday Present.
There was an interesting thing that happened in the Jacuzzi, as noted by Dr. Ziebergeld. The setup for this scene is that the man gets more pleasure out of pleasing his partner than in taking pleasure for himself. In that scene we see him pleasuring her orally by the side of the Jacuzzi, but the man never has an orgasm or full erection even though there is plenty of sexplay. Dr. Ziebergeld suggests the following for how men would like women to deal with this type of situation: "Respond by not asking anxious questions about whether she is turning you on or stimulating you correctly. Just go on with the show." I agree with this to a point. Making the situation stressful when it is happening is NOT a good idea. However, if it happens on a regular occasion, I think as a couple you should discuss what is happening.
What does it all add up to?
Overall, I enjoyed watching this video. It did give me some ideas for different things that I can do with my lover to enhance our relationship. It's important to be reminded every once in a while of what keeps the spark in a sexual relationship. If your partner is a bit shy and is not willing to tell you outright what he wants, Dr. Ziebergeld suggests that you tell him your likes and wants first. Your sharing will help him to do the same. That's good advice, but doing so is not always easy. Watching these videos is a step in the right direction.

(Love SATC)

(The girls get some action, but also a little wisdom)

(A Must Own Series!)

(One of the Best Seasons!)

(Where the show really kicks off)
I think in the 3rd season of SATC the series gets into its stride and it becomes the SATC that people have grown to love. It's a toss up which is my favorite between season 3 and 4 but my absolute favorite episode is Hot Child in the City found in season 3!
Containing eighteen solid episodes of laughs, bawdy doings, and occasional seriousness, "Sex and the City, The Complete Third Season" continues the whip-smart fun of the first two seasons while enriching the pot with additional flavors and nuances. While we do follow the progress of Charlotte's new marriage, this season is slightly more tilted toward the girls themselves- their feelings, their discoveries about themselves, the importance of their mutual friendship- than about who they're seeing romantically. I enjoyed that added attention to the inner life of the core cast. I also enjoyed- mild, broad spoiler here- how the season closed on a subtle grace note, with each of the girls facing a new, uncertain road before them, a road fraught with a little scariness (as they all seem to think to themselves, "what's in store for me?") but also laced with a little hope.
No matter what your age or life is like every woman can relate to one or all of these ladies. Romance, finance, and disagreements among friends.

I love having my series collection to watch whenever I miss New York!

You won't be disappointed in having this seasons episodes!

Now all I need is the Movie DVD! :) Coming soon....

Merna

Pocket of Pearls: A 30-day pocket workbook to start hearing a softer voice inside of you!

Season 3&4 rival each other, in my opinion, for best season. (Season 5 is definitely the most fun, and Season 6 is definitely the most serious of the bunch)

I love this season because the comedy is so fresh and fun. The storylines are great, and the fashion is in its most forward stage.
In this season, you will find such great quotes as: "I sound like a perverted Nancy Drew." Aidan is introduced and Big makes a steamy comeback, while Charlotte meets the man of her dreams Trey.

And the clothes in the 2 L.A. episodes are so outrageous: i.e. Carrie's neon green bathing suit and her hot pink sequin fanny pack.

Great season--must own!!!

In my personal opinion, season three of "Sex and the City" is where it really takes off. We have break-ups, escapades, love, and even a wedding! It definitely breaks the monotony of the girls just dating different guys and makes things interesting.
The third season was the charm for one of HBO's gold standard series, which earned its first Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series to go along with its Golden Globes for Best Comedy Series and Best Actress (Sarah Jessica Parker). The writing is as sharp as ever, with more trendy product placement than a Bret Easton Ellis novel and ribald banter that's a cross between the Algonquin Round Table and the Friars Club. One of this season's two principal story arcs concerned hapless-in-love Charlotte (Kristin Davis) and her pursuit of a husband; enter (if only...) Kyle McLachlan as the unfortunately impotent Trey. Meanwhile, sex columnist Carrie has a brief but memorable fling with a politician who's golden, but not in the way she anticipated. She then sabotages her too-good-to-be-true relationship with furniture designer Aidan (John Corbett) by having an affair with Mr. Big (Chris Noth), who himself has gotten married.

"Do we need drama to make a relationship work?" Carrie muses at one point.Sex and the Cityneeds drama to make it work, and Parker and Cynthia Nixon (as career woman Miranda), this ensemble's better half, give the show its pulsating heart as they wrestle with commitment and, in the episode "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," sadder-but-wiser breakups. On the lighter side, the sexual dalliances of "rude and politically incorrect" Samantha (Kim Cattrall) provide great fodder for comedy. LikeI Love Lucy, the series benefited from a brief change of scenery with a three-episode jaunt to Los Angeles, where Carrie and company encountered, among others, Matthew McConaughey, Vince Vaughn, Hugh Hefner, and Sarah Michelle Gellar. At its best, to quote one character,Sex and the Cityis "sharp, edgy, brutal at times, always a little juicy." It may be "very New York," but the sex and relationship issues it tackles are universal. For its devoted fans, the release of this 18-episode, three-disc set is, to quote Gellar's clueless Hollywood junior development exec, "chick flick big."--Donald Liebenson
Join Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) and her friends Samantha (Kim Cattrall), Charlotte (Kristin Davis), and Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) as they do weddings, funerals, and Bat Mitzvahs; Staten Island, the meat-packing district, and the Playboy Mansion. The third season fittingly includes a host of "A-list" celebrity guest appearances, including Carrie Fisher, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Hugh Hefner, Donovan Leitch, Matthew McConaughey, Alanis Morissette, and Vince Vaughn. So get ready to cross the velvet ropes and enter a world of...Sex and the City.

(A good flick.)
No real information in this film. But if you'd like to see this gal actually taking it in the pooper, then this is the film for you. She seems to like it. But apparently, she's a porno queen, so who knows. She has a man-face. You see a lot of poop in the film, but I guess that must be your thing if you're a rumprider

Three stars.

Informative, frank, and humorous! Nina Hartley guides you to backdoor fun with Anna Malle, Hank Armstrong, and John Decker. She doesn't call it "Anal Sex"--see why! See the how and why of this taboo and start your own journey into forbidden eroticism.

(It's very nice and smart)
This is my first plasma globe, and I choosed carefully between this and the other plasma globes. Fortunately I choosed the one, which I exactly wanted. It is smart, working very well all day and night, and very entertaining with it's glowing purple lightning and as it touches the inner surface of the globe it's becoming pink.

I'm using it now for 3 months and I haven't got any problem with it. The glowing-on-sound option needs to turn up the volume high enough.

Add the look of living lightning to your office, dorm or bedroom with The Plasma Globe. Place your finger onthe globe and watch the plasma flow drawn to your touch. This awesome 7" diameter globe sits on a black pedestal base and can be set to be on conti

One of the very funny lines comes from an officer watching through binoculars as Nick Holden brings a boat load of nurses back to the sub from a bombed island: "Wow -- now that's what I call scavenging!" The officer is played by Dick Sargent, the second Darin on "Bewitched."

Matt Sherman comments that he's a little concerned about Lt. Holden's influence and recommends a little less "Wow" and a little more "Tsk Tsk."

this is very relaxing and entertaining movie that does not get old after you see it a few times. highly recommended
I always did love Cary Grant and Tony Curtis - put them together in this movie and you have a something to laugh about - crusing around the pacific ocean in war time - on board of all things a pink submarime and what they got up to in getting her ready just to keep her afloat - here to the Seatiger and all the crew who rode in her - or as some would say here to all submariners may they keep our oceans free and safe.
I just love this movie if you haven't seen it and are a grant fan i would recommend you see it.
This is a must see for any Cary Grant fan. Five nurses on a sub labeled a pig boat , you have to see seeman Hornsbey to appreciate the humor in this line.

Blake Edwards's delightful 1959 comedy stars Cary Grant as a World War II submarine captain whose preference for a by-the-book command reluctantly yields to certain realities. Chief among those is that Grant's first officer (Tony Curtis, who impersonated Grant that same year in Billy Wilder'sSome Like It Hot), a shameless hustler, is better than the navy at delivering whatever supplies the ship and crew need to keep going. But when Curtis sneaks a handful of Philippine refugees and several gorgeous nurses onto the all-male sub, the skipper not only has to cool down his crew but deal with an unexpected feminine influence on ship protocol. The film is a great deal of fun, sprinkled with the director's trademark sight gags (including one of Edwards's best, involving a torpedo and jeep), and graced with his unmistakable lilt. Grant is in great form, his comic brilliance almost impossibly effortless.--Tom Keogh

(Boring and ridiculous)

(James Dean is a genius in this Giant Bore!)

(Giant)

(Giant)
"Giant" is a larger-than-life 1950s soap opera filled with all sorts of rivalries, oil derricks, class warfare, and cattle barons. Rock Hudson plays Jordan "Bick" Benedict who brings home an Easterner (Elizabeth Taylor) as his bride. Bick's sister, Luz, doesn't take none too kindly to new bride Leslie whereas ranch hand Jett Rink quite clearly does. Leslie herself is appalled that women are to be seen and not heard, and that no one seems the least perturbed that Mexican workers on the ranch live in squalid conditions.

This first half of "Giant" is very entertaining in the way that soap operas can be. The ranch, Reata, is expansive; the mansion they live in is a colossus. The performances are quite good, especially Mercedes McCambridge's tough, almost mannish sister, Luz. Everyone seems to both admire and fear that old Texas gal. James Dean can be downright endearing as down-on-his-luck Jett, especially when we see that he is trying to educate himself with school primers; other times, eyes sometimes darting, sometimes cast down, he spouts off wisecracks. Of course, any soap worthy of its name is going to touch here and there on social issues. Leslie gives a verbal whipping to the menfolk when they insist politics is a topic not suitable to female ears. She is also chastised when she attempts to secure medical aid for a Mexican mother and her sick child.

It is in the second half that the movie seems choppy. This is in part due to the rush of the years. The kids are grown; they go to war; they come back. Way too many years are crammed into these last 90 or so minutes much to the film's detriment. Young Jordy is a kid in one scene; you blink your eyes and he is Dennis Hopper wanting to go to medical school. Another blink and he is marrying his beloved Juana and treating the indigent. This speed allows little in the way of solid character development. The characters we do have from the first half of the movie are inhabited by actors who suddenly seem at a loss. Rock Hudson, and, to a lesser extent, Elizabeth Taylor, in no way naturally inhabit the advanced years of their characters. We never believe them to be middle-aged. (And their atrociously grayed hair! Is that the best aging effect Warner could do or afford? Even "Citizen Kane" did better years earlier.) I guess it's sacrilege for me to say, but even the iconic Dean is not much better in an almost hammy performance as the older and very drunk oil baron Rink; he's lost the ease and naturalness of the character's younger incarnation.

This second half does have some bright spots such as performances by Dennis Hopper and, more briefly, Earl Holliman. There is an extremely moving tribute to a fallen soldier. And then there is a stellar scene in a roadside diner in which cattle baron Bick finally takes a stand against prejudice and very nearly gets his teeth kicked in.

To me the film would have benefited had Stevens and the studio opted for a chunk of Ferber's book and not tried to cram in so many years. For me, it would have been more entertaining and more cohesive. The actors would continuously be playing characters closer to their ages and more in line with their abilities. Some of the best acting in the film are Holliman and Hopper playing characters of their generation, with young Dean and Taylor so true in the first half playing twentysomethings.

Though not without its flaws, the bottom line for me is that there are many parts that make this film worthwhile viewing, and this despite the surprisingly poor DVD transfer.

What is it all these people are praising? I saw nothing of the quality which they seem to see. Rock Hudson was ridiculous! James Dean and Elizabeth Taylor are too young to play their roles, no matter how much silver the make-up people spray into their hair. It was so long and boring. The blocking was clumsy and stilted. What else can I say? I could only get through one hour of this disaster. Academy Awards? Give me a break.
I love a good sprawling epic. This, however, is not one of them. It is boring, dated, and just plain bad. There is nothing engaging about Hudson or Taylor in this film. It excruciatingly plods along.

The two stars I gave it, are solely Dean's. It's sad this virtuoso performance, his last, is a part of this meandering mess. Dean plays a tragic figure in this movie. Plus, he is utterly convincing as an older man. Too bad his character wasn't the center of his own story.

My advice, if you are a Dean fan: rent it and fast forward to his parts. Skip the seemingly unending saga of the Boring and the Beautiful.

I am into some old movies, and always loved rock hudson in this. it also has james dean, elizabeth taylor.

i finally went out and bought the dvd. am glad i did.

It had been a long time since we had seen this film and had forgotten just how good it is. We enjoyed it to no end. What a great cast.

Thanks, NBK
