Most will only remember the Escape Club for their late-80's #1 hit "Wild Wild West" - and that's a shame. In 1987, before they signed to Atlantic Records the band released their debut album, "White Fields" under the EMI label. In 1991, two and a half years after the release of 1988's "Wild Wild West" on Atlantic Records, the band peaked with the release of their 3rd and final effort, "Dollars and Sex" (also on Atlantic Records).
D&S's first single, "Call It Poison", enjoyed decent radio airplay and a healthy amount of exposure on Mtv (reaching #44 on the pop charts), but it's the second single "I'll Be There" that makes this disc worth any price you may pay. The top ten hit (peaking at #8) is sung from the perspective of a man beyond the grave to his love left among the living here on Earth. The song is both romantic and sad; haunting and inspiring. It's like the bittersweet ending to that movie that always makes you cry. Incentally, the song is rumored to have been inspired by the movie "Ghost" starring Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze.
While "I'll Be There" is worth the price of the disc alone - don't overlook the rest of this fine collection. The remaining tracks are excellent mostly up-tempo pop-rock with moments of dance, rap, reggae, and metal influence. "Edge Of Your Bed" and "So Fashionable" are fun, danceable rock similar to late 80's INXS. "This City" and "Freedom" are moody, atmospheric mid-tempo numbers with catchy, hypnotic choruses. And "Sugar Man" is a fun, almost island-style song - ironically about a serious subject: drug addiction. Every song on the disc is worthy of your attention, and the CD flows well making for an enjoyable musical journey. The disc is an easy "full listen."
While D&S is one of the more underrated and overlooked albums of the early 90's, it did earn The Escape Club a second well-deserved Top 10 hit with "I'll Be There" - allowing the English band to narrowly "escape" the dreaded lable of "one hit wonder."

This EP, because it's not really a full album, has a comical value for me, due mostly to the sampling of the reverand john hagey on"rape robbery and violence", and also due to big t on"f me hoghunter". Along with the comic value, however, there is also some really good music coming out of this EP. For the price, you couldn't possibly go wrong.』

The information is basic. However, for the more experienced it gives you some sensual scenes to get you in the mood or to get you and your mate talking about sex. Both volumes interview people on the street about oral sex, foreplay, anal sex, role playing, sex outside the bedroom (park, jacuzzi). Then you are given little sex scenes with very loving AA couples. The video will definitely arouse you. I learned something from the massage lesson. It's a very nice set with three pleasant looking couples with intelligence and confidence in the bedroom. I recommend it. I do have one fault with the company that made the video. The same set/video/dvd are sold with a different name. Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Flawed exploration of Chong, unflinchingly brutal exploration of the industry) 『`Sex: The Annabel Chong Story' is a sort-of-biography of Grace Quek, who under the name "Annabel Chong" became a porn star infamous for the "Greatest ever gang bang". Despite its title, we don't really discover that much about Chong's story, and the film is flawed in its presentation. But while it probably fails at its main job, it does provide a fascinating and penetrating look at the porn industry, and the way that women within the industry are exploited and degraded.
The biggest flaw here is that we're never given much insight into why Chong decided to subject herself to all this. We are told that she was gang-raped as a teenager, and later in the film Chong has an extended rant against the repressive social culture of Singapore. The message seems to be that Chong's porn career is an extreme form of liberation from these ordeals, with Chong herself spouting the usual clichés about pornography being empowering to women and not exploitative. Here is where I have big problems: Chong is clearly an intelligent young woman, and surely she cannot be so naïve as to believe that her pseudo-feminist rhetoric will resonate with male porn viewers. I somehow doubt that most menwho watch gang-bang porn would have enlightened views about female sexuality. On the other hand, Chong is clearly not some poor, uneducated type who desperately needs the money. So why does she do it, and what does she really think she's really achieving? Chong herself is not particularly forthcoming, and her comments are often confused and inarticulate. She is clearly emotionally messed up, but was this before or after she got into the industry? We can't say.
The rather haphazard nature of the production doesn't help in our understanding. While there is some interesting material here, it isn't presented in a coherent, logical manner. The film basically throws together a collection of interviews, clips of Chong, pornographic scenes, chats with her family and friends, and discussions about the industry seemingly at random. The large cast of porn directors and actors who wander in and out of the film don't contribute much either. Predictable lines about Chong's orgasms and reactions being 100% real (yeah, right) are trotted out, plus some half-hearted pleas for pornography to full legalised and accepted as legitimate art. The attempt by these guys to portray their craft in a positive light is particularly ironic, given the bleak picture this film paints of the industry.
While there are plenty of explicit scenes, `Sex..' is certainly not titillating. In fact, the overwhelming emotion from this is sadness and despair. Whether Chong really was naïve enough to believe she was making a feminist statement, or was so messed up she didn't know what she was doing, her pornographic career didn't bring her happiness, and it certainly didn't bring her respect. After her "gang bang", established porn actors regarded her as an upstart who was too stupid to take precautions against STDs, while directors simply saw ways to exploit a woman who would do almost anything on-screen. Chong is clearly depressed, uncomfortable and humiliated by the whole experience, and her claims that she "doesn't care" and "loves what she does" are so transparently false they're almost painful to witness. And involving Chong's mother the way they did amounts to little more than a cruel joke; it's deeply unfair to Mrs Quek and should have been left out.
So despite its flaws and its overwhelmingly downbeat nature, `Sex...' is still interesting for the unflinching look it takes at pornography. Seeing the way Chong is chewed up and spat out by the industry, only to have her come crawling back for more, is brutal and heartbreaking. While probably not intentional, this film manages to be the best anti-porn message out there. If someone as intelligent as Chong can get used and abused as badly as she does, it makes you wonder how other actresses fare. Four stars. 』

Sex: The Annabel Chong Story is one of those documentaries that could have been made much more professionally; it tells Annabel's story well but not as well as it could have. There are gaping holes in the story: for example, at one point in the film Annabel is raped by a gang of men and you can tell she is emotionally scarred by it. However, it gets little more than just one or two minutes of footage with very little voiceover by Annabel. However, the clips from her adult movies never seem to end; I often felt I was watching something more along the lines of an adult film instead of a documentary about this young lady!
In actuality, Annabel Chong's real name is Grace Quek. Grace was born in Singapore; and we first meet Grace after she has changed her name to Annabel Chong to make it in the adult movie business. Annabel is interviewed quite a bit and comes off as manic or having some attention deficit disorder at times; she often looks around at all angles as she speaks while avoiding looking into the camera or at the person interviewing her. We also see her remarkable drive to break a world's record for having sex with men--251 men, in fact, in just 10 hours--more than double the world's record which had been made by a "sex worker" in Amsterdam, Holland.
Annabel has her work cut out for her. Will all the men she has contact with be properly tested for HIV? It turns out that not all of it was "safe;" and ultimately Annabel must go for an HIV test that actually doesn't seem to faze her too much. Of course, when Annabel returns to Singapore to see her parents, she may want to finally tell at least her mother what she's actually been doing to finance her way through college. How will her mother take all this? And, if Annabel is to honor her mother's wishes, why does she return to the adult movie industry? We're left merely guessing; and that's something I don't like.
After all is said and done, however, the movie goes along at a pretty good pace and even with so many unanswered questions that would have made this truly special, you won't exactly get bored unless you're easily offended by the adult movie industry--and in that case you shouldn't watch this movie. We do get a very good sense of what Annabel's life was like when we meet some of her friends, in particular Alan, onscreen. We also see what Singapore is like when Annabel returns to her parents' home for a visit. Wow, Grace could never have stayed in Singapore; she was too different for that society.
There is bonus footage about Grace as well.
Overall, Sex: The Annabel Chong Story isn't a bad documentary; but I've seen much better documentaries. We essentially see a young woman driven to deal with her issues by having sex with as many men as possible and make a few bucks in the adult movie industry although she was never fully paid at least according to this film. I recommend this for people interested in these psychosocial issues. 』
(Pathetic) 『I came across this movie and it jogged a memory. I'd read this in the local arts weekley that Annabell Chong was coming to town to show her documentary and be there for a Q&A session afterwards. Having never met her (and still not wanting to meet her), I wondered why would someone want to star in the adult film industry let alone have sex with 251 men in less than 10 hours. She set a new world's record, outdoing (no pun intended) a sex worker in Amsterdam. What exactly is the point of doing this? I didn't know before and still don't know why afterwards.
Girls who star in porn movies are pathetic. Annabelle is no exception to this. She tries to come off as making some kind of pro feminist statement that she is having sex with so many men. What kind of statement? That she has no fear of AIDS? That she thinks so little of herself to preform on camera with not just one but all these others? Some may say "it's just work". Per Ron Jeremy, he assured the audience that all the guys participating were wearing condoms and had been tested. Is that supposed to make me feel better?! We only saw hints of the real person. Is she hooked on drugs? Was she ever forced to preform on camera against her will? Why does she keep going back, because she's ashamed? The possiblities are endless. And she said if she did get AIDS she wouldn't be sad, because she had an experience. I hope no one takes that seriously. But guess what? She's a cutter. She wants to feel something, release the pain inside.
Perhaps the scariest aspect of this is the unassuming interviews with her mother. Her mother clearly has no idea she is doing this. What would her reaction be? Would she even acknowledge that she knew her? What is she supposed to feel?
This is a haunting look at the realities of porn. A must see for anyone who thought it was glitz and glam.』
(The Girl Behind the Numbers) 『I saw SEX - THE ANNABEL CHONG STORY at a film festival when it first came out and, happily, Chong herself was there for a Q and A afterwards. The movie itself explores the interesting, and often contradictory, personality of Annabel Chong. Born Grace Quek into a traditional family from Singapore, Chong had, as it seems, a taste for something a whole lot more. The film tries to get at exactly what it is that drives a woman to gain infamy as the receiving end of the world's biggest gang-bang. Given the type of person who would aspire to such, it is not surprising that it does not quite succeed despite an admirable effort.
Chong comes off as troubled at times (she cut her arms with razors at one point), but, as a whole, more put together than coming apart. Pleasant and appreciative of her fans, she seems to have a decent sense of the moral quandries of her actions. The scene in which her mother discovers her daughter's true work is particularly tough. And the actress who breaks Chong's gang-bang record is so nasty and self-centered that Chong cannot help but seem like a decent person if only by comparison.
Chong never achieved true fame through porn. Her name is not as well known as, say, Jenna Jameson or Tera Patrick. But her films are so wild that she gains in notoriety among those who do recognize her what she lacks in name recognition. During the Q and A she seemed nice though a bit overwhelmed in front of so many people and being peppered with (for the most part friendly) questions. SEX - THE ANNABEL CHONG STORY is worthwhile for those interested in a bit more backstory to the porn scene.』

(A short but just as sweet season of Carrie and friends) 『The fifth season of the vastly entertaining "Sex and the City" features eight funny, sexy, and occasionally poignant episodes of New York chic-ness. In other words, if you've seen the previous seasons, there's no reason not to keep plowing ahead to the series' big close in season six (well, the big close until the movie that eventually followed). And contrary to some of the comments here on Amazon, season five is indeed priced lower than the other seasons due to its shorter length. To be fair, maybe the price reduction is a recent development. In any event, you can use the money you save to help spring for a good Chardonnay to sip while watching the girls confront dating troubles, baby issues (Miranda's little Brady sure is a cutie, endless crier or not), and engage in a memorable debate about whether Nathan Lane's lounge act piano player is gay or not. All frothy and all fun. After all, you can't just watch Henry VIII execute people on "The Tudors" all the time, as fun as fun as that can be, too.』

(the darkest and therefore misunderstood season) 『i completely 100% love the fifth season of sex and the city. true it is extremely short and overpriced but the 8 episodes are pure gold. A lot of the reviewers bemoaned the fact that this season suffers from a lack of laughs and is more serious and the characters feel unlike themselves. I tell those reviewers to take a closer look at the end of season 4, the journeys and behaviours of the four leads is completely truthful and relatably to real life after where we left them last. They are all burnt out, they have all had there hearts broken yet again and now they have realised that they are no longer as young as they once were and therefore feel terrified by the fact that they are still alone. I felt most for Carrie in this season, true she acts selfish towards some of friends at times in this season but she is so afraid of what will happen next after all that has happened - the breakup with Aiden and the departure of Big, that she reverts completely into herself and attempts to keep her friends static around her, as is witnessed in 'Luck be an old lady'. The other characters too experiences emotions that are unlike anything that has come before them. As Charlotte points out ot Miranda in the previous season just before Brady's birth that 'she needs to start letting people in' Miranda feels the full force of that this season when she attempts to balance both her social life with her family life and like Carrie fears what will come next. Charlotte is forced to confront the fact that her Mister Perfect fantasy of a husband was not a fantasy but turned into a nightmare, and that she must finally look elsewhere for the love and intimacy she desires so much. Samantha feels she loses a part of her identity upon opening herself to Richard and being burnt because of it, but it is only when we fall down do we stand up and learn how to be stronger as she learns in the final episode. This season represent a bridge between the fun wild days of the first four season and the more adult and mature world of the sixth season and movie. It also shows that to move on we must standup by ourselves and move forward into whatever murky future lies ahead because only through that do we grow as human beings.』 『It was a short but sweet fifth season forSex and the City, as HBO's resident comediennes found themselves affected by forces beyond their control--the pregnancies of both Sarah Jessica Parker (Carrie) and Cynthia Nixon (Miranda). A truncated shooting schedule to accommodate the actresses forced this season to be reduced to a mere eight episodes, and indeed, you can tell both actresses are expecting. (Carrie's wardrobe became more outlandish and more concealing than usual.) Still, the actresses and creators forged ahead, creating a handful of episodes that if short in content were long on emotion and laughs. Whereas the fourth season found all four grappling with various relationships, the fifth season focused on the perils of being single, with a new intensity lacking in the previous sexcapades. Carrie and Miranda wrestled with their solitary lifestyles, albeit with new attachments--Miranda had new baby Brady and single motherhood, while Carrie found herself in the world of publishing as the author of a real-life book of her columns. Charlotte (Kristin Davis) wondered if she'd ever find another man, while Samantha (Kim Cattrall) finally got rid of the one that had been vexing her far too much, hotelier Richard (James Remar). If the season as a whole felt less than the sum of its parts, those parts were some of the best comedy in the show's history, from Samantha's anointment as the "Michiko Kakutani of vibrators" to Carrie's stressful, one-degree-from-fiasco book launch party. (And fear not, Chris Noth's Mr. Big does pop up now and again.) The season's climactic episode, "I Love a Charade," found all four at the straight wedding of a seemingly gay pal (Nathan Lane) and contemplating their future with a wry, bemused tone. It was one of the series' best episodes ever, equally touching and funny, and grounded the show in an emotional maturity that announced that after all their wild travails, these women had truly grown up.--Mark Englehart』 『It's summertime, but that doesn't mean the women of Sex and the City are livin' easy. By sexualizing Kate Winslett and making her vulnerable through her nudity, it pushes us to both sympathize and eroticize her character, judging her despicable behavior much more difficult. But make no mistake: she was not powerless despite the movie's shameful attempt to make us believe she was. Nor is her "secret" remotely believable in the context of the times. I've reviewed the movie elsewhere, and am very sorry that so many viewers and reviewers think this is a profound treatment of the Holocaust or the human condition or anything at all:

I mean, it really sets a seriously sympathetic tone for a death-camp guard with unfortunate circumstances. I realize she wasn't well educated and had to make tough decisions in order to survive, but so did many people who came out of the holocaust ...Germans among them. Still, this film is well-acted thanks to the amazing performance of Kate Winslet (The Holiday) as Hannah Schmitz, the guard in question. Although I won't take anything away from the other actors in this film, particularly young David Kross as Michael Berg, the boy turning into a man with the help of Hannah's sexual appeal, I will say that, without Winslet, this film likely would've fallen flat, theatrically.
Set across generations of Germans and Germany, the story is loaded with historical interest surrounding the holocaust courts that were set up after WWII. Hannah, not surprisingly, is a keystone for the courts as they uncover what they think is her sole involvement in the ordering of the deaths of Jewish women in one of the camps. Circling back to her time at the camps as a guard, it is quickly surmised (by the movie watcher and Michael, but not the courts) that Hannah has never learned to read, so has those she's about to condemn read to her.
The condemnation is set up in a way that allows Hannah to remember those she's let loose into the gas chambers; a sort of penance for what she is "forced" to do. In a similar manner, she condemns young Michael to a life of lovelessness in that he can never forget her, his first true love. And when Michael goes to school to become a lawyer, he and his classmates are soon brought into the case involving Hannah, but only as spectators. But for Michael, much more is apparent. He has the chance to save Hannah from the courts but is forced into a moral conundrum: Is she worth saving? Is she deserving?
The story continues as we watch Hannah's prison years pass by. With her age comes knowledge and words. Michael sends her packages containing books on tape that he recorded for her, emboldening Hannah to learn to read on her own. Which she does. But is it too late for personal forgiveness and redemption?
The ending hits pretty hard at these core issues. Personal responsibility. Moral condemnation. Rule of law. Historical atrocity. All of these are intertwined to form a patina of the past that blurs the future.
The film is watchable mainly for the purposes of Kate Winslet. Her performance is absolutely stellar. But the pacing and mixed moral message were tough to swallow for me. I'm not Jewish, but I believe that the holocaust happened. And I believe those associated with it, in any way, do not deserve our sympathies. Even those supposedly "forced" into these kinds of situations. Where's the morality in that?』

There are apparently two selling points for this film. The secondary one is that it has "exclusive" live performances of nine songs by various artists including The Von Bondies and The Dandy Warhols. These performances, however, are shot with artless camera work and bad sound, and are worse than many amateur bootleg concert videos you can find on YouTube.
The primary selling point is that in this movie, the actors playing the young couple in love actually have sex. And it's shown in graphic detail. Quite graphic at times. Which means, I suppose, that it's a porn flick, in spite of its indie pretensions at examining the fluctuations of a romantic/sexual relationship, but it's a curiously passionless and unstimulating variety of porn at best.
Winterbottom's characters are unlikeable, which is allowable, but also uninteresting, which isn't. Watching them relate, in all ways, makes human relationships actually look off-putting.
There is little story here, and what there is is bookended around the song videos. It's as if the writer/director had so little story he decided to use the songs as filler material. The result, at 71 minutes, is one of the subjectively longest damn movies I've ever seen.
Every few minutes I clicked up the onscreen display to see how much time was left. It always seemed far too much, even at only three or so minutes remaining. At one point, I realized I'd actually picked up a book and started reading without thinking about it. That has never happened to me during any movie before. It was like my brain was seeking to bandage a wound in its stimulation.
Consider yourself warned. 9 Songs, in spite of its dull sexuality (I started to write carnality, but there's nothing truly carnal about it), is a complete bore. Watching a toaster will probably arouse you more.

The movie Pat and Mike deals with the success of women athletes in professional sports, and how some greedy male managers try to exploit them. In Desk Set, the story is about the effect of automation at work place and how it affects the jobs and lives of workers. You get to see a lot of lighter side of office environment.
When efficiency expert Richard Sumner (Spencer Tracy) is assigned to the research department of the Federal Broadcasting Company to evaluate work patterns, his eccentric behavior catches the imagination of researchers Bunny Watson (Katharine Hepburn), Peg Costello (Joan Blondell), Sylvia Blair (Dina Merrill) and Ruthie Saylor (Sue Randall). They begin to worry when Sumner informs Bunny that his mission is to improve the efficiency, but actually Mr. Azae (Nicholas Joy), the head of the network, approves a project to computerize the department and asks Richard to keep the project a secret.
Bunny admires a gown she purchases and all excited in the hope that Mike Cutler (Gig Young), her boss and suitor of seven years will invite her to a country club dance. However, circumstances prevent that from happening, and in the mean time Bunny start dating Richard. The date turns into business meetings for them as Bunny finds out that Richard is the inventor and patent holder of EMMARAC, an electronic brain. The women at research department get worried that their jobs will lost due to the machine, when they find out that half the payroll department gets pink slips after EMMARAC becomes the machine of the Payroll department.
On the eve of a big weekend, Mike break his date with Bunny because of a business trip to Chicago, and in the meantime on a stormy day, Smithers (Harry Ellerbe), the office gossip offers Richard and Bunny a ride and drops them at Bunny's apartment building. Bunny invites the soaked Richard in for dinner and gives him a robe to wear that she has bought as a Christmas gift for Mike. Mike's plane gets cancelled due to inclement weather and he visits Bunny's apartment and gets shocked to see Richard in robe. This is one of the funniest moments of the movie. However, later, at the office Christmas party, the research staff laments the fact that this will be their last office party. The air of congeniality is shattered at the research department when Miss Warringer (Neva Patterson), an assistant of Richard and a computer operator start working. Due to an error of the machine entire staff gets pink dismissal slips including Richard. This is another hilarious moment and the movie takes a jab at the competence of a machine replacing people. The staff obviously sad begins to pack up and refuse to answer the phones, which forces Miss Warringer to deal with the onslaught of calls. Richard then explains that EMMARAC was never intended to replace the research department, but only to help them do their job, and the project was kept secret because of an impending merger with another network.
William Marchant's play Desk Set was based on an actual CBS research librarian, Agnes E. Law, though the film's shots of Rockefeller Center suggest NBC. In Marchant's play there was no romance between Richard Sumner and Bunny Watson, but screenwriters Henry and Phoebe Ephron added a romantic story line to capitalize on the enormous success of Tracy and Hepburn screen relationship. The socialite-heiress Dina Merrill made her film debut in this movie, and Joan Blondell offers an excellent performance as Bunny's sidekick Peg.
This movie is set around Christmas time and movie-critics never mention this. I believe any movie set in Christmas time deserved to be treated as movie worth watching during Christmas time. You get to feel and enjoy the joyous occasion. The festive spirit is reflected in the office, windows, and doors being decorated with Christmas wreaths, Christmas Carols in the background, Christmas party at work with office Santa Claus is a very happy occasion.

Also, a minor annoyance is the fact that A. N. ROQUELAURE 's name is in FULL CAPS, both on this page and when the sample is downloaded to one's Kindle.

However, both have the makings of something deeper and more meaningful in the hands where they eventually fall. Remy doesn't know what to think of the singer/songwriter father who died before she met him. She knows exactly what to think of her artsy-flighty mom, at least until a new marriage begins to change her. She used to know what to think of her brother until his girlfriend started teaching him to wear shirts with collars and *iron them*! Her gal pals all have comfortable roles in their friendship and she knows what they expect from her. But as high school ends, things are changing. Relationships end both as expected and unexpectedly, so new opportunities open. Should you take a chance on a feeling that flashes through you in a second? Should you stand by the logic you've spent years developing? What happens if neither choice leaves you happy?
This outshines some of Dessen's other teen stories and has the courage to give readers an unconventional ending. As an adult reader, it's 4 or 4.5 stars for me, but the teens in my classes think it is much more of a 5 (or, according to one, a 6!) This is a good shelf selection for grades 8-12. Although Remy has been a wild child and continues to use her fake ID to purchase drinks, she is changing, so the book isn't likely to bother parents too much.』

"People weren't meant to be together forever..." would be a good way to describe how Remy, a high school girl, feels about love. After watching her mom go through four marriages and on her fifth one, who could blame her. Plus her dad left when she was a little girl. She hasn't had the best examples of love working and people staying together. So that's why she barely stays in relationships longer than a month. However, she never seems to not have a boyfriend. When she does have a boyfriend, she makes sure that she doesn't get too close so she doesn't get her heartbroken, like her mom. Then she meets this boy, Dexter, who she ends up falling in love with. I think you should this book just because it's one of those books where you actually can feel what the character is going through. This book kept me very interested. I never wanted to put it down. From personal experience, I knew what the character was going through, so I could relate throughout the whole book. I think this book is more for the relationship people. If you've gone through heartbreak, you'll know what Remy is going through, so I think that would help when reading this book. This book is definitely more for girls. It gets pretty emotional at some parts. Personally, I ended up crying, I related to Remy that much. I really think you should read this book, especially if you like the relationship books. This is one of my all-time favorite books.』

This Lullaby has a well-written plot - Remy Starr is a girl that's going off to Stanford when summer ends. She's had seemingly endless boyfriends that were all dumped. This is when Dexter comes along and completely changes her point of view. He's a musician, a first fault since Remy's father was a musician before he died of a heart attack when she was hardly three. I loved this book to a point that I almost didn't want to go to sleep if it meant putting it down. First thing in the morning - pick it up and read. Go and get this book, because in my opinion all teenage girls will love This Lullaby...』
