Sex Slaves play anarcho-sleaze punk. They are obviously in love with rock 'n' roll and learned to party, play and yes even dress by listening to Hanoi Rocks, early Motley Crue and every other sleaze rocker you ever heard of. Not out to change the world they come across like they'd rather drink the planet dry, one bar at a time.
My intro to this mob came from a freebie disc given away with Classic Rock magazine and the aforesaid disc was entitled Sons of Guns. Basically it was a collection of similarly minded bands who could all claim to have been influenced by the sleaze metal of early Guns 'n' Roses. Sex Slaves were well suited to such a compilation.
In summation this album has a number of very very catchy tunes and big chorus touches. Lead cut We're Going Out Tonight, Contagious and All Night Long are very indicative of the direction of the band and so would be good tracks to listen to a sample of or download (legally of course..). The sound of the album can further be illuminated by the names of the band members - Eric 13, Del Cheetah and J Bomb. And by the fact that they've covered the Iggy Pop/James Robert Williamson written number Search and Destroy. And they were supposed to be the support band for the aborted Vince Neil solo tour of Australia in 2006 (canned due to low ticket sales - natch). And if your still now sure what your getting here take a gander at the cover - two strippers kissing.
The musicianship isn't up to Yngwie Malmsteen or Joe Satriani standards but it is 100% appropriate for this style of product, good time music for pounding down the highway on the way to your next great gig. The vox have that youthful swagger alternating between utterly sincere yelling, anarcho punk sneer and the sort of 'I can't sing but darn it sounds good in the context of this band' bravado that carries so many frontmen through their careers. There is hardly a let up of the high energy attack and even when things do slow down and even when the album does segue into something less upfront like One More Night the delivery is still upbeat despite the somewhat plaintive tones of the track.
I actually picked up this 2nd hand obscenely cheaply and always associated it with brainless good times. And that's a compliment. Highly recommended if you can pick it up cheap cos it's a party album through and through. Rerations < Bite Your Tongue >

(Comeback)
(Lust or Love? Which is it in this passionate story with a British twist?)
(Very Slow Moving)
(another Woody Allen's best movie ot his carrier) Woody Allen, known more for his comedies, tries his hand at a crime drama here. However, some parts of the movie are not as believable as they could be. For example, in this age of DNA testing where even a hair is enough to tie a criminal to a murder, how the police don't find anything that makes Wilton (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) culpable to the crime is implausible. Moreover, Wilton's decision to kill Nola (Scarlett Johansson) comes as a bit drastic and extreme to the viewer. And a drug addict killing an old woman for a just a few medications in her bathroom cabinet is improbable. The movie is sprinkled with analogies to tennis which are good, but that's not good enough to give it more than 3 stars.
The critical buzz about Woody Allen's latest film, Match Point, is that it's his best since (fill in the blank), and, to a degree, that's true. The last of his films to attain even a limited greatness was 1999's Sweet And Lowdown, with the magnificent performances of Sean Penn and Samantha Morton, and the last flat out great Allen film was 1992's Husbands And Wives. But a case can be made that this film is his best since 1989's Crimes And Misdemeanors, the film which is its most obvious philosophic and narrative ancestor. That said, in a sense, this film is also sort of a `Best Of' Woody Allen film, which reuses many of the best scenes and motifs of his best work. There is the obvious nod to Crimes And Misdemeanors, in that this film follows a murderer who gets away with his crime of killing his mistress when she gets too clingy and demanding. But, there are nods to Interiors, with the end shot of the film, as the protagonist gazes out a window into a vacant sky, Annie Hall with the scenes of tennis, and several others. Also, as always, there is Allen's `grand idea' that propels the film; in this case another one he has used before, that of luck being the single greatest determinant in someone's success or failure writ small or large, not ethics.... Whether or not this terrific film signals a quality fluke, for Allen's stealing shamelessly from earlier great outings may belie a creative bankruptcy (although one could argue the reassemblage or collage is creative in its own right), or a renascent final Silver Age to bookend his Golden Age (1977's Annie Hall through 1992's Husbands And Wives), only the next few films will herald, but I'd love to see Allen stay away from New York for the next four or five films, and really push himself hard narratively, in a final creative burst. The editing of the film is very crisp, and at only about two hours, the film feels far longer and richer, in the best sense. The English countryside is also beautifully filmed by Allen newcomer Remi Adefarasin. As said, without Crimes And Misdemeanors' comedy, this film does not approach the universality of experience that film does (recall the philosopher in that film's documentary within a film, and his narration over the final wedding scenes), but it is still leagues above the usual crap Hollywood puts forth.
Jonathan Rhys-Myers and Scarlett Johansson star in this smoldering story of lust, desire, and wealth. Chris, played by Rhys-Myers,is a tennis pro scraping out a living giving lessons, when he meets the son of a wealthy British family and develops a romance with his sister, Chloe, played by Emily Mortimer. Graciously accepted by the family, he becomes engaged to Chloe and is offered a lucrative position within the family's corporation.
Enter Nola, played by Scarlett Johannson, the sensuous American wannabe-actress involved with Chloe's brother, and the fireworks begin. Defined by dramatic opera arias that form the backdrop of the story, passion erupts between Chris and Nola in spite of the fact that Chris is now married to Chloe and living the kind of life that only money can buy.
Intense, brilliant drama written by Woody Allen that kept me on the edge of my seat! It moved so slowly I almost turned it off a couple of times. The ending is terrible. Save your money. Saw the movie twice to really enjoy both the acting and the story. It is a must if you love W.A. and the British culture and drama as well; Buy it!!!!!!!!! The passion of mad love and the cold calculations of social climbing collide in Woody Allen'sMatch Point. Former tennis pro Chris Wilton (Jonathan Rhys-Meyers,Velvet Goldmine) stumbles into good fortune when Chloe Hewett (Emily Mortimer,Lovely&Amazing), the daughter of a wealthy businessman, falls in love with him. But when Chris meets Nola Rice (Scarlett Johansson,Lost in Translation), a much deeper passion is stirred--and his desire isn't deterred when he discovers that Nola is already dating Chloe's brother. But when their affair threatens Chris's increasingly cozy lifestyle, Chris begins to consider a drastic solution.Match Pointstarts deftly and ends with cunning; though the middle bogs down in banal plot mechanics, Woody Allen fans have justly hailed it as a comeback after Allen's last few cinematic stumbles. Despite weaknesses (Allen still seems to have lost touch with the mundane realities of life; his characters operate in a strange, weightless world of wealth and privilege), the strong performances and clean direction carry the movie through. Also featuring Brian Cox (X-Men 2,Adaptation).--Bret Fetzer Chris a former tennis pro social climbs into the world of the british upper crust when gets engaged to one of his wealthy tennis students. But chris is not the type to leave well enough alone&soon he falls for nola a sexy american actree who is dating his rival tom chris soon-to-be brother-in-law. (Taming of the Shrew)
(Its just a movie.)
(The Taming of the Shrew)
(wonderful) The chemistry between Burton and Taylor is magnificent. Loved it, Loved it, Loved it! This movie is a classic. It is one that I have wanted to get for ages. The chemistry between Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton makes the whole movie that much more exciting. I could watch it over and over. If you like an old fashioned movie with a lesson to be learnt, then this is the movie for you. And that is all it is. You get the Taylor and Burton being their big star selves. You get very good supporting performances. You get a signature big plush production from Franco Zeffirelli. You also get a very skimpy serving of Shakespeare to go with the heaping plate of stars and stuff. I would be surprised if I did an actual count and found half the text in the movie script. Large sections of the primary story line and even key speeches, such as Kate's final speech about duty to husbands are hacked up or omitted. I am not a purist or completist, still I was amazed at how much star pandering and material production value tromped all over the play. It does manage to be funny from time to time. But taken as a whole this movie is for fans of Taylor, Burton, and good looking movies for their own sake.
Fortunately, one can do better, much better.
If you want to see Taming of the Shrew with great acting, great direction, broad humor, and most of what Shakespeare wrote, I recommend the Broadway Archive DVD of William Ball's San Francisco ACT production with Marc Singer. This is the best and funniest production I have ever seen. (Yes, it is actually funny.) I urge you to get it while you can, there is no better. I plug it here because I do not think it is well known and it should be. I was overjoyed to find that this production that I saw on PBS(do not let any politicians kill PBS) before there were VCR's was not lost to the public forever.
Taming of the Shrew by Franco Zeffirelli allows its viewers to experience the epoch, in which the drama develops. Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor bring the drama and the essence of comedy to this production. Again, Zeffirelli invited us through this espectacular production to be part of his own experience and luxury that overwealms ourselves. This is probably my favorite Shakespear redition. I love to see Burton and Taylor play off of each other. Shakespeares fiercely funny battle of the sexes. Special features: widescreen version mono sound languages: english spanish portuguese subtitles: english spanish portuguese chinese korean and thai talent files and theatrical trailer. Studio: Sony Pictures Home Ent Release Date: 05/22/2007 Starring: Elizabeth Taylor Richard Burton Run time: 122 minutes Rating: Nr Liz and Dick (a.k.a. Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton) almost seemed to be importing the psychodramas of their marriage into this 1967 film (of course, the same was true of every film they made together). Adapted from Shakespeare's play and directed by Franco Zeffirelli (Romeo and Juliet) with his usual eye for sumptuousness, this version ofTamingfeatures a particularly boisterous, bawdy, fun performance by its stars. (Great Movie, Sweet Price)
(Great Chick Flick)
(Not worth watching more than once.)
(Someone Like You) Alas, despite the stellar cast, this was a lame and puerile film. But... I wanted it in my library because, in part, it was shot in one of the penthouses in my building, and I remember the staff being furious when, for an entire day, the service elevator was only occupied by the film crew, equipment, Greg Kinear and Ashley Judd.....all for a couple of minutes of actual screen time. The DVD was in perfect condition, amazing price, fabulous vendor. If this film was not, in fact, shot in YOUR building, I would not go there. At all. This is a great romantic comedy to watch with your special someone. The cast is wonderful and keeps you engaged throughout the film. Great movie all women will appreciate - so typical of men and the games they play. This movie just didn't connect with me that well. It had some pretty funny parts, but is was just a little too crazy/weird for me. The ending was a little too unrealistic for me as well. I think the actors did well with what they were given. This movie is just what it appears to be, a fun entertaining way to spend an evening. The premise of the New Cow Theory is funny brought on by being dumped by a man yet again. Ashley Judd always provides the audience with an excellent performance. It doesn't matter what role she tackles, it is always solidly done. What a choice - being able to choose from Greg Kinnear and Hugh Jackman! It would be a no lose situation.
Studio: Tcfhe Release Date: 01/13/2009 Run time: 132 minutes Rating: Pg13 Despite its foregone conclusion,Someone Like Youis an agreeable romantic comedy about how people construct elaborate defenses to cope with emotional anguish. Based on Laura Zigman's novelAnimal Husbandry, the movie is purely formulaic, with a heroine's best friend (played here by Marisa Tomei) and other supporting roles that come straight from central casting. Even the lovelorn heroine is standard-issue for the genre, but as emotionally devastated talk-show booker Jane Goodale, Ashley Judd brings intelligent charm to a role that could have been maudlin and pathetic. For a while, Janeispathetic: after being dumped by her seemingly devoted boyfriend Ray (Greg Kinnear), she turns heartbreak into a hobby, creating self-assuring theories about male behavior based on the mating habits of cows. She comforts herself with the certainty that all men are scum, when really she just can't accept rejection.Cast adrift, Jane accepts a roommate offer from her womanizing colleague Eddie (X-Men's Hugh Jackman), who's been nursing his own heartbreak with lots of casual sex. You can see where this is going, and actor-director Tony Goldwyn (following his underrated dramaWalk on the Moon) doesn't offer any surprises. But Goldwyn is alert to the comedy of human foibles, and the movie peaks when Jane's defenses are down and Judd's appeal shines at full intensity. At her best, Judd makes an average script better than it has a right to be, and while Kinnear perfects his smarmy routine, Jackman matches them both with star-making sincerity.Someone Like Youwon't win any awards for originality, but it's universal in its comedic sympathy for the brokenhearted.--Jeff Shannon Rerations < Someone Like You >

customer 's review (never again...)
(Very weak scent)
(Sex in The City L.O.V.E)
(Sex In The City Love Eau De Perfume)
(Great Product, Shipping was fast!) the one star is for wonderfully quick delivery. however, the perfume i received was either extremely old, watered down, or defective-whatever the case, it smelled nothing like the usual and my phone calls were not returned when i contacted the perfume company's customer service... I bought all 3 bottles: love, lust and kiss. One of the bottle cap's side loops are broken(the thing that looks like an antenna). The overall design is nice but doesn't look good in 3.4Oz size. It just looks bulky. The bottle cap is made of plastic and has scratches on them. One of the cap doesn't fit well where I have to push real hard to get it in place (lousy cap design).
The scent is disappointing. I sprayed on my wrist and also on a paper to compare all the bottles but I have to put my nose really...close (touching my wrist) to be able to smell the actual scent. All 3 bottles have bad top and middle notes. Eventually 'Kiss' top notes gave me nausea. 'Love' and 'lust' have better smell after awhile. I like 'lust' the most.
Eventhough it's Eau de parfum but it performs like Eau de toilette. So be prepared to spray more. I purchased this perfume (along with lust) a few days ago and I already received my order today!! The shipping was in a VERY timely manner. Now as for the perfume, it smells GREAT! The "Love" scent has a citrusy/floral scent...Something to use when your going out with the girls or with that special someone. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my whole "order" experience! I thought this perfume was surprisingly fantastic. For the price and the quantity, are you kidding? And it's such a generous amount, I could use it forever and it will never go down. It smells fresh and clean with a little floral, just right, not over whelming or overbearing. This was a great investment, would make a great gift, or for yourself~ The Product was great. Everyone wants to know where i purchased it. The shipping was fast and you get what you purchase. Love by Sex In The City Designer:Instyle Usa Eau De Perfume Spray Women 3.4 Oz.
