(Red Elvises at their best!)
(Red Elvises Rock)
(WOW, Comrades, this is a great album.)
(More kick-ass rock 'n roll from Siberia!) Our favorite Russian Immigrant Elvis Impersonators are back with a more swing feel. Their English hasn't improved dramatically, but they exhibit wider range in this album. Of particular note are"Closet Disco Dancer"and"Painted Love."As a follow-up to their first album, this holds up remarkably well. There are no weak songs, and the tone is just as tongue-in-cheek. A slightly more serious offering, but still good fun. One of the best Red Elvises CDs I've had the pleasure of hearing. All the songs on this are great, although two pale to the same on the Live album (Red Lips, Red Eyes, Red Stockings and Closet Disco Dancer, specifically). Every other song, though, is pure perfection, from the beat of To the Top, the feeling behind Painted Love, and the odd lyrics of Strip Joint is Closed. A must have for anyone. This is a great album, great band. You should buy all their CD's and go see them live. They put on a Great Show! Four Stars Plus! This album is a terrific follow-up to"I Wanna See You Bellydance"(the Band's best album so far - a solid 5 star album, and the only reason I only gave this album 4 stars). Their music is campy and eclectic, combining a variety of genres, including swing, ska, surf-punk, boogie-woogie, and roots rock. They put together great music, but don't take themselves too seriously while they do it.Three of the band's four members hail from Russia (hence the band's name). On this album, the band, which features a Bass Balalaika, is complemented by a host of guest musicians and some great brass instrumentation. The band's lead guitarist can keep up with just about anybody, and he plays a mean bottle-neck slide guitar. The opening track on this album"Red Lips, Red Eyes, Red Stockings,"sets the tone for the album - playful and upbeat."Hanky Panky Kind of Love"and"Closet Disco Dancer,"which demonstrate the band's campier side, are light-hearted and just plain fun."Joint Is Jumping"and"Mamasita"will definitely have you moving your feet in no time. Igor could pass for a Russian Tom Waits on"Strip Joint is Closed." All in all this is a great, fun album. And if you like the album - you should see these guys live - they are even better! They put on a great show. The balalaika alone is worth the price of admission. Red Elvises have outdone themselves once again on their latest CD, which contains more of their irresistable blend of Russian melody, swing, rock 'n roll and just plain fun. This reviewer's favorite cut is"Closet Disco Dancer,"which is a real treat with the wonderfully humorous lyrics and addition of violins along with their usual guitars, drums and balalaika, but all of these songs are terrific, as are all three of their previous CDs. Red Elvises are multitalented vocalists and musicians, as this CD continues to prove. Buy it -- you'll dance, you'll laugh&have fun, you'll rock! Rerations < Better Than Sex >

(Not worth it)
(The Absolute Worst)
(ON WHAT WOMEN WANT - I WISH ALL MEN WATCH THIS DVD)
(ON WHAT MEN WANT) This is a good deal. Two of the DVDs are for women and two are for men, but all four made enjoyable viewing for us as a couple. Each DVD features instructional information, interviews with real people, and hot sexy scenes with good-looking real-life couples. It is obvious the couples care for each other and are not just porn actors. That made a big difference for us. This is a great tool for any committed couple - and for singles as well! These videos were nothing but low budget soft core porn. There was nothing of any use in them. They tell you to be adventurous and try new things.... now you don't need to buy them. If a man really believes that feeding me fruit is going to make me hot, he needs more than these damn DVDs that's for sure! Reviewed By: Jenne Dr. Lonnie Barbach is our hostess with the mostess for this foray into the world of what women want. As a woman, I'm the first to admit I'm not always sure what I want from a man, so I was more than interested in finding out what Dr. Barbach and the video itself had to say on the subject. To begin with, there is a short introduction where Dr. Barbach explains that this is not meant to be a definitive guide on the subject and is really just designed to give people ideas, some food for thought as it were. Actually, food featured pretty heavily in the first two scenes of this video. There are also some interviews with real women scattered throughout the film where real women are asked what they want from a man. If those do nothing else, they may well confirm what we were told at the intro, and that is each women is as individual as the clothes she wears, or the job she has. Scene one transports us into a bedroom where a couple begins to explore the delights of having a thoughtful man who knows how to cut up and prepare all manner of fruits. From grapes to mandarins he tenderly feeds his partner, before gently removing her clothes and feasting on her. I got the point here in that many women say they want their partner to worship and adore them and he certainly does that in this scene. Magically we travel back to real life interviews as we do between all the scenes in this video. I actually really like this touch as it adds some reality to the whole scenario. Next, we enter a kitchen as a man prepares, or more accurately attempts to prepare, a meal for his partner before she returns from a hard day at the office. Even though the meal wasn't the most appetizing looking thing in the world, the fact that he went to all that trouble just for her, certainly appealed judging by what she choose for dessert: Him -)) This scene was a little hard for me to swallow but it was erotic as she devours him. I would have liked to have actually seen the couple undress, but that said, it was worth watching because the sentiment behind it was right. A little effort goes a long way. Take note guys! The next issue that is talked about is trust. The scene cuts to an older women masturbating on her bed as she reads an erotic story. She's blissfully unaware that her lover is secretly watching through a crack in the door, although it's not long before he decides to join her. What follows next is actually as much about communication as trust in my book, although the two do go hand in hand. She directs him, showing what strokes she prefers and the results are satisfying for both partners judging by the smiles on both their faces. I actually thought this was a great scene for those who may be worried about sharing their masturbation habits with their partners. The basic message being if you share you'll get more out of the experience. Back to the real interviews and opinions before we go to the airport where a women decides to surprise her partner who has returned from a business trip. After picking him up, she reveals that all she is wearing beneath her coat is some lingerie. It's not long before they arrive at an old haunt of theirs and the windows of the car start to steam up. This was a really fun scene and the fact that the female took the initiative was a definite plus. Carrying on that theme, we move to sex in public places and anyone whose ever partaken in this particular activity knows just how exciting it can be. Here we join a couple that is sightseeing from a vantage point high above Los Angeles. This scene has all the elements that both partners will probably enjoy watching, like most of those in this series. The setting is romantic and yet offers the element of danger in that they are exposed as they make love with their clothes on. The fact that she has a dress on and no panties is definitely a plus here, as it makes for easier access, and is something that I recommend everyone tries at least once in their life. Now we move back indoors and to the familiar bedroom setting, where a couple is busy making love but with a difference. In this scene the women is in control of the situation. By in control, I don't mean in an S+M type scenario, I just mean it's obvious that she is comfortable with her sexuality and knows how to tease her partner and more importantly they both enjoy this. Hubby was captivated by a scene where the woman sits astride the man and uses his penis as a clitoral stimulator, then teases him by masturbating. The film finishes by once again returning to our real life interviewees who again try to sum up what they find sexy in a man, and teh women all seem to fail miserably. What's it all add up to? This was a well thought out video and one that I really enjoyed watching, as did my partner. I didn't think the title reflects what this video is about though. To me it wasn't so much about what women wanted but how you could introduce elements into a relationship that would serve both partner's needs. Men want passionate, alive women. Women want passionate, alive men was the message I got from this video and I'm not sure if that's what the producers were aiming for, but either way it's an erotic, sensual film that as a women I was able to really enjoy. I came away from this viewing experience ready to take control, try new things, or revamp old ones from our past. The fact that this video seemed to have a really nice pace and flow to it was a definite plus as well. Bringing out important points but not in the way many instructional type videos do. The emphasis was on making things fun and I for one fully concur with that sentiment. Reviewed By: Katie What do men want? For years I've thought about this question and finally they've come up with a video that's going to give me all the answers, or so I hoped. The video opens with an introduction by Dr. Bernie Ziebergeld explaining that his video is not about what EVERY man wants, but that it gives you some ideas of what many men want. It's a place to start at least. From there it goes into a man-in-the-street interview asking men what it is they want when it comes to sex.The answers are really not all that surprising, one of which is that men want their partners to actually be interested in them and in sex in general. Apparently they enjoy it when the woman takes the initiative. "Being creative is important because it makes men feel that you care enough to share in the work of sex." The video goes on to follow one couple, showing how the woman initiated sex with her partner by leaving a snapshot of herself in various stages of undress from the front door all the way to the bathroom shower where she waited for him. What follows is a shower scene where she washes him and then gives him a hand-job rich with slippery, soapy lather. (Note: Some soap can cause a burning sensation in the urethra) It's a very sexy scene. Matter of fact, I rewound the video and watched it again ;-) The couple then goes on to have sex while standing in the shower. Now I know this isn't always physically possible for some couples, but it was still sexy to see it work for them. Back to the man-in-the-street to find out more of what men want again followed by a normal looking couple acting out one of the suggestions given by the men being interviewed. In all, there are five scenes acted out - Surprise in the Shower, Driver her Crazy in Bed, Fun in the Van, In the Jacuzzi, and An Erotic Birthday Present. There was an interesting thing that happened in the Jacuzzi, as noted by Dr. Ziebergeld. The setup for this scene is that the man gets more pleasure out of pleasing his partner than in taking pleasure for himself. In that scene we see him pleasuring her orally by the side of the Jacuzzi, but the man never has an orgasm or full erection even though there is plenty of sexplay. Dr. Ziebergeld suggests the following for how men would like women to deal with this type of situation: "Respond by not asking anxious questions about whether she is turning you on or stimulating you correctly. Just go on with the show." I agree with this to a point. Making the situation stressful when it is happening is NOT a good idea. However, if it happens on a regular occasion, I think as a couple you should discuss what is happening. What does it all add up to? Overall, I enjoyed watching this video. It did give me some ideas for different things that I can do with my lover to enhance our relationship. It's important to be reminded every once in a while of what keeps the spark in a sexual relationship. If your partner is a bit shy and is not willing to tell you outright what he wants, Dr. Ziebergeld suggests that you tell him your likes and wants first. Your sharing will help him to do the same. That's good advice, but doing so is not always easy. Watching these videos is a step in the right direction. (There's Better!)
(I dig these sexy jazz tunes!)
(an amazing album! way better than the first!)
(Fun and Funky but not as good as the first) Ok, I own no other 'porn inspired' music to compare with Sex-O-Rama 2. My favourite was track one. Other than an all instrumental blues cd I made up from my own collection, I find Sex-O-Rama just as easy to listen to over&over. Really, it is a lot of fun.... A friend had bought a copy a few years ago,&I recently picked up one here at amazon.
You&your partner will laugh the first couple of times you give the cd a try, letting your imagination put the music to, uh, whatever you think would match the beat...
A very good buy. Quality music, don't let the campy cd title or 'over the top' song titles get in the way of putting this cd in your collection. Sex-o-Rama 2 is music INSPIRED by classic '70s adult film music. NOT the real thing... Even the picture of '90s darling Jenna Jamison doesn't really save it. A nice try, but better luck next time guys! For those of you who want to hear the real deal, I suggest DEEP NOTE: Music of 1970's Adult Cinema. DEEP NOTE is actual soundtrack goodies from the golden age of 70s adult films. Straight ahead jazz, soul-jazz, heavy funk, groovy fuzz rock, Bruce Haack/Jean Jacques Perrey style analog synth, and kitschy soundtrack cheese all lightly peppered with entertaining dialogue and served up in a gorgeous, eye-popping six-panel digipak -- 40 tracks, over an hour long... DEEP NOTE is an extra tasty portion of 1970s underground culture, the REAL DEAL, and a lot of fun!! I would only perhaps skip over 4 and/or 6, but for the most part, I listen to it over and over. I heard the first one, and I think in some ways this is better (less obviously wokka-wokka). these tracks are just so damn funky you just gotta groove when you here it! much less keyboard orientated than the first which is great because where the keyboards lack the funky wah wah guitars pick up this one rarely leaves my disc player! truly a group of gifted and creative musicians! More from Haywood Jablomi and his band. This time though the tracks are original ones BASED upon the funky sex-flix music of the late 60s.Track 6 is my favorite, but unfortunately as a whole the CD doesn't match up to the first SEX-O-RAMA. (Man, those Democrats are a noble lot)
(A remarkably unpleasant and dishonest film)
(Campaign 2008)
(Rich Cast and Story) This is the most amazing movie. Barack Obama was recently asked which movie he felt had the best presidential performance. He responded, "Jeff Bridges in The Contender". A must see movie. Love the price and I received it timely. As a political independent I really don't have much of a problem believing that the Republicans in Congress are the uncaring, sneaky bunch of politicians they are portrayed as in this film. What I don't buy at all, though, is the Democrats in Congress being the truthful, caring, altruistic bunch they're portrayed as here. For me, this film simply confirms the fact that the Hollywood elites are no more than a wing of the Democrat Party when it comes to political movies. The premise of this movie is, in a word, ridiculous. Pity really, as the acting and production are both pretty good. Even liberals should be offended by the simplistic pandering offered up in this pathetic outing. Two thumbs down. If you like American Theocracy, you will probably like this film. It plays to every stereotype, every simple-minded idea, every revisionist fantasy, every insulting smear and dishonest thing that the left has uttered for the past 50 years. Now, don't get me wrong, it skillfully packages them in a lovely box with lots of pretty wrapping paper (recyclable, of course!), ornate bows, and a lovely card, but inside, it is unequivocally a steaming pile of horse puckey.
Others here have dissected the deceit and dishonesty rampant throughout this manure pile. But let me add one more. When our poor, unfairly maligned female is blindsided in an interview, she walks off. And we are to admire her fortitude. When the lying and creepy bad guy is publicly chastised by his President, who calls him a traitor for disagreeing, he walks out, and we are to see his walk of shame as the perfect summation of his pitiful little life. Wow--talk about hypocrisy!
Personally, I'd love to see Hollywood tackle a real confirmation hearing. Show us how Robert Bork or Clarence Thomas had their character murdered and then disemboweled, a tactic previously unknown in Washington. (What Democrat has ever received such an attack?) Come on, Hollywood, show how a real person standing up for what he believes will get the machete wielding liars with crazed eyes after him!
No, that would be too tough. Rather, let's show a nice feminist atheist, whose poor little son is being indoctrinated by religious crazies to spout that baby Jesus created top spin, who believes we need military might only to intervene in the internal affairs of other countries, who, quite wrongly, believes that the never-mentioned-in-the-Constitution separation of church and state is to protect the state from fanaticism, who, I suppose, believes that babies aborted but living should be allowed to die, all the while with stirring patriotic music soaring behind her. The aroma is overwhelming! I'm choking!
Update September 2008: And folks, in case you haven't noticed, while one side says the other is using "coded messages" to attack their candidate, that same side shows no such restraint and heaps the uncoded messages against a woman. Wow--if only the film makers had examined their prejudices, they might have made a real movie! I guess this came out in 01, but watching it in 2008 is interesting, now that Hillary Clinton's campaign is over. This film is over the top in portraying partisanship, and way too preachy about the main character's rights as a woman to be treated like a man. Jeff Bridges is entertaining as the president. Hell, he should probably run. Given recent history like the Clarence Thomas/Anita Hill hearings, and such fiascos as the Bush nomination of Harriet Myers to the Supreme Court, the goings on in this movie are not entirely implausible. This was a really good movie. The casting was just perfect (even Christian Slater who was the weakest of the selections). I found the story very interesting and the performances were fantastic. I recommend it to any intelligent film fan. United states senator laine hanson faces stiff opposition from a powerful congressman in her bid to become the countrys first female vice president. Includes featurette and commentary by star joan allen and writer/director rod lurie. Studio: Paramount Home Video Release Date: 01/06/2004 Starring: Gary Oldman Joan Allen Run time: 127 minutes Rating: R Director: Rod Lurie Depending on your perspective,The Contendercan be praised and damned for the same reasons. A political thriller with an insider's view, it's deadly earnest in its defense of truth, justice, and the American way, but writer-director (and former film critic) Rod Lurie resorts to the same manipulation that his film purports to condemn. But with political savvy, a timely idea (a female vice president), and a cast of first-rate actors, this high-office chess game is unabashedly entertaining. You can argue with Lurie's tactics, but you can't fault his patriotic passion. In a role written especially for her, Joan Allen is outstanding (if a bit too saintly) as the Republican-turned-Democrat senator who is chosen by the president (Jeff Bridges) to fill a vice presidential vacancy. Bridges is a cagey chief executive, seemingly aloof as he gleefully challenges the White House's 24-hour kitchen staff but more than a match for the embittered and unscrupulous congressman (Gary Oldman) who plots to destroy Allen's character with seemingly dark secrets from her past. As a gender-switching response to the Lewinsky scandal,The Contenderasks potent questions with its impassioned plea for integrity in public service. That makes this a film well worth defending, and the stellar cast (which includes Christian Slater and William Petersen) triumphs over most of the plot's hokey machinations. The ideas are more compelling than their execution, however, and although Lurie's climactic revelation is a vast improvement over the reckless cheat of his previous filmDeterrence, it still threatens to tarnish the gloss of an otherwise fascinating film.--Jeff Shannon Rerations < The Contender >

(A great movie to feel good with.)
(A classic, great duo.)
(The Cutting Edge)
(awesome) This movie has many scenes where the leading man is in and out if bed with numerous women. It also has a fair amount of swearing. These things ruin a movie for family viewing. I was expecting a clean, romantic story. I rented this movie on a WHIM because I am a shoot-em up and gunsmoke lover. I found myself engrossed in the highs and lows , one liners and super acting displayed in this movie for a very enjoyable evening of entertainment. It kept my interest to the very last. I guess I'm just a sucker for love in the movies. I went on line and ordered the movie for my collection. Do yourself a favor and watch this movie, you will not be sorry. In some ways it's very much like A Christmas Card or A special Night, both of which I also bought. There is no need to cover the story line as others have done a far better job than I could have. This is a movie we watch at least twice a year.....we love the one liners. This is one of our favorites.....we lent it out and never got it back, so I am replacing it. As expected, an old plot, a very old plot, done with new technology, new faces and in color. Like an ice cream sundae, always good for a few minutes of relaxation, with no lingering negative after effects. I loved this movie. It was awesome. Its the frist in a set of three. The story is beautiful. It shows triumph over both personal and physical tribulations. And the loves story was beautiful. The stars were perfect for their parts. Cast well done. This is just and over all perfect movie. Moira Kelly (Dangerous Beauty, "The West Wing") and D. B. Sweeney (Roommates, Memphis Belle) star as polar opposites who unite on the ice for a shot at Olympic gold in this inspirational romantic comedy from acclaimed director Paul M. Glaser (The Running Man). Brimming with wit, charm and plenty of breathtaking sports action, The Cutting Edge is a real winner! She's a rich and refined pairs figure skater whose prima donna attitude has her skating solo. He's a brash, blue-collar hockey champion with a new injury and no future. With nothing in common but their dream of reaching the Olympics, Kate and Doug are each other's last resort. Reluctantly, they join forces, but its not long before the barbs ? and sparks ? start flying as the unlikely pair skate towards the opportunity of a lifetime: a chance at a medal...and a chance at love. As far as ice-skating movies go (or those that prominently feature the cold-bladed sport), this romantic movie is one of the best, thanks to utterly charming performances by underrated actors D.B. Sweeney and Moira Kelly. The couple play, respectively, a washed-up hockey player and a prima-donna skater who end up in doubles figure skating together at the Winter Olympics. Of course, the mismatched pair fall in love. In between, there's a lot of verbal sparring, talk of toe picks, and surprisingly skillful directing by Paul Michael Glaser (Kazaam,The Air Up There). Direction here is critical--unlike inFlashdance, where the dancing was done in the shadows, face and feet obviously shot separately--andThe Cutting Edgecredibly highlights the actors and their professional stand-ins. This is such a fun, sweet story that the facts the film takes liberties with--including the alacrity with which a hockey player takes to Olympic-level figure skating--are easily forgivable.--N.F.
