(Better than the first volume!)
(Perfect....Again.)
("Volume 2" Almost As Good as the First)
(Even Better Than the First Volume) I just love this album. I think it's even better than the first volume. Really worth buying!! After hearing the Ciara song "Click Flash" in the movie, I immediately sought out this volume. In my opinion it's better than the first, although the first one had some great songs (Jennifer Hudson's is my fave). "My First Love" and "Hey Baby" are the stand outs on this volume. Just got mine today - A glowing, lovely collection that compliments the fun movie. Recommended! At first listen, I felt Volume 2 was a bit of a let down from the first volume released a few months back. The first volume had some heavy-hitting songs that really were pulled from the biggest scenes in the movie while volume 2's songs are more obscure and (if you're like me) will leave you scratching your head wondering where exactly this or that song appeared in the film. Yet, after another listen, I have to say that this is a pretty good soundtrack and sampling of artists and songs that are lesser known but each is different and brings something new to the table.
The Good: I think the upbeat songs are much better than some of the slower songs. The faster-paced songs such as "We Got Love" by Ryan Shaw or the lesser known Janet Jackson track "2 Nite" are simply fun and help capture that whole 'Sex and the City' franchise vibe of being fashionable and letting go and being in the moment. "My First Love" by Craig David will definitely define many of the women in the film, and is relatable, in that it's harping on the whole theme of love and the lack of it in one's life. The variety of styles, genres and artists that aren't overexposed by the radio really is the driving force behind this release and makes it a fun work-out soundtrack or something to play in the background while you're working.
The Bad: There was something missing for me as a listener, and I can't put my finger on it. It doesn't help that you really can't place some of these songs so they sound random and you're unable to strike up a visual connection to a scene the music helped bring to life (a strength and appeal of the first soundtrack). There's also a lack of a really mind-blowing track like 'Labels and Love' by Fergie. This lead track of this soundtrack is 'Click Flash' by Ciara which sounds like an attempt to capture the funness of the Fergie track from the first volume ... but doesn't quite get there. I also felt the soundtrack loses steam by the end. The last four tracks are a bit dull and lacking and skippable, in my opinion.
In all, a decent soundtrack and probably a collector's item for Sex and the City fans. Check it out. I love this album! And not just because I'm a huge fan of Sex and the City either. The music on this soundtrack is just wonderful. You can't help but think of Carrie, Samantha, Miranda, and Charlotte when you listen to it. While the first album dealt with the big songs most everyone heard in the movie, this second volume deals with the songs that were largely used in the background of the film. Also, we finally get the fabulous song "Click Flash" by Ciara on this soundtrack. That song was used during the huge wedding dress photo shoot scene in the film. If you were one of the many people that picked up a copy of the first volume of music from the Sex and the City movie, this is a must have! And even if you didn't get a copy of that first volume, make sure you don't miss out on this second volume. I guarantee you will not be disappointed! Following the success of the first volume, which debuted at #2 on the Billboard Top 200 and which held the #1 soundtrack chart position for several weeks, volume two contains even more music from the hit movie from artists such as Ciara, Mutya Buena, Craig David, Goldfrapp, Estelle with Cee-Lo, Ryan Shaw, Janet Jackson, Allison Moorer, Katie Herzig, Elijah Kelley, Bitter:Sweet, Champagne Flutes, and Owen Brady. The success of the movie Sex&The City flows into another album, Vol. 2 - More Music! Following the success of the first volume, which debuted at #2 on the Billboard Top 200 and which held the #1 soundtrack chart position for several weeks, Volume two contains even 'More Music' from artists such as Ciara, Mutya Buena, Craig David, Goldfrapp, Estelle with Cee-Lo, Ryan Shaw, Janet Jackson, Allison Moorer, Katie Herzig, Elijah Kelley, Bitter:Sweet, Champagne Flutes, and Owen Brady. (Somewhat Interesting)
(Two dvd in one)
(OK I GUESS)
(Not just a back rub!) This has a couple of interesting tips and is actually really quite good especially if you are really new to it. This video does provide some good information, but the music and the acting of one of the couples is very cheesy! In fact, it's so corny at times that you laugh instead of being aroused.
The video does show full frontal nudity of both couples, and it explicitly shows both the man and the woman having an orgasm. This excellent video is produced by the Alexander Institute and is part of the Loving Sex Series. It is a very erotic "how to" video about sexual massage. The video has a creative format of two videos in one. One part is instruction in erotic massage techniques. The second part is watching a "real couple" watching the instruction and then practicing the educational techniques. This becomes a very erotic format and also provides some excellent instruction. The DVD is highly stylized and beautifully filmed. The only negative is an introduction from Bernie Zilbergeld of the Alexander Institute that comes off "academic" and therefore detracts from the erotic mood.
Different than other similar videos, this DVD does not attempt to provide a full introduction to massage. The video rather focuses only on erotic techniques and genital massage. The viewer is treated to watching the "watching couples" in playful practice of the erotic massage techniques. These sequences are both humorous and very erotic. The practicing couple is rewarded with very real orgasms.
This video can be purchased at many web sites and directly from the Alexander Institute.
The title should be Ultimate Sex Organ Massage. The entire 60 minutes of this video pretty much focuses on how to give a hand job (on a limp noodle most of the time) and how to finger your partner (some of which looked a little painful). If that's what you're looking for then I guess that's a good thing.
I probably should have purchased Lovers Massage from this series instead of Sexual Massage since the other review on here said Lovers Massage focused on whole body massage rather than strictly genital massage.
As far as production, its a fairly well done video and a whole lot classier and more sensual than porn. (Porns pretty sick if you ask me) There's nothing gross about the actors, even in the extreme close ups. I guess I would recommend it if you don't think 60 minutes of genital massage would seem drawn out to you. Otherwise, I would go with Lovers Massage like I probably should have. This DVD is very explicit in how to give genital massage as well as the rest of the body. It's informative and shot very well. This is definitely a massage you only want to share with your partner... my husband and I found some of the techniques to be highly stimulating and very arousing. There is some good information here if you want to show your lover you really know what you're doing. It was definitely a 5-star night for us! (NOT EXACTLY WHAT I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE)
(nice DVD for couples)
(A winner!) I like this video. The couples are attractive and there is little interruptions from the video creator. There is a long intro and then segments of the couples um, being romantic. It did the trick for us and greatly improved our sex life. I heard about this series of sexual videos on XM radio via the Oprah and Friends network. The hosts for the show were psychologists with a specialty in sexual problems. As I have gotten older, my interest in sex has waned and my husband's has increased...or so it seems. I wanted to do something to spark my interest so I can better fulfill my husband's expectations. Now, I am wondering if the hosts on the program have a vested interest in these videos. Or maybe it is just me. I was not really impressed with the content. Supposedly, these videos would treat the subject matter more delicately and the scenes depicted would be between loving, married couples. The "performances" were wooden and very staged. I saw very little passion displayed. But, I doubt I would be any better with video cameras stuck in my face while trying to be intimate with my husband. These videos are advertised and sold primarily as sexual-help instructional videos. They did not help me...sorry. much better than I thought it would be. my wife tends to like the more subtle approach to sex (like many women) and I thought this DVD would be a nice change from the hardcore stuff I like. I was surprised to see I too liked it. we have already bought another DVD from the same company, but have not viewed it yet. the items are really useful and reinforce things as "normal" that my wife had thought were too taboo. the only thing I wished it had more of: more graphic sex (but that might be getting away from the whole concept of the DVD in the first place). We enjoyed this DVD because the couples seem genuine and romantic but there's no holding back on the sex. The scenes are very explicit, but it is handled in a loving, affectionate way, not the typical porn approach. It's both instructive and sexy, and the couples are believable and attractive. The host, Dr. Patti Britton, is informative and likeable. Well worth multiple viewings! ADVANCED TECHNIQUES FOR KEEPING SEX GREAT! customer 's review (Terrible DVD transfer)
(disappointed, deeply...)
(A Movie for Young Intellectuals)
(hmm)
(Video Transfer is still poor for DVD) The transfer to DVD is terrible, and the video quality is sub-par. The image is fuzzy, the colors are faded or dark. It's impossible to turn off the subtitles, they are encoded in the picture. This is a bad DVD. Too bad, because I really enjoyed this movie. This is a lovely film, at least it was when I saw its premier screening at the MFA in Boston. I loved the characters&dialogue, had been eagerly awaiting its appearance as/on a dvd, but, while it's here, the transfer/compression of it blows. The image quality's so poor&the colors incredibly bleached out. I wan my money back&or a better transfer (preferably). To whom do I bring my complaint to? Do the europeans lack for technology? A poor transfer was also done to another great (foreign) film, a Spanish one, titled"Vacas", which is a great film, though, not on dvd. If you're looking for steamy sex scenes, forget it; while this movie does deal with sex, it does so through discussion and debate, two highly-regarded French art forms! (Perhaps a lot of the disappointment surrounding this film is due to the fact that the title was inversed when it was released in the U.S.: The French title is "How I Got Into an Argument (My Sex Life).") But don't write the film off yet; it is an excellent thinking-person's romantic comedy.Mathieu Amalric is superb as Paul Dedalus, the central character of the film. (Amalric is excellent in any movie, actually.) Paul is a graduate student instructor who is brilliant, but lazy, and undecided in all the major areas of his life. He is too afraid to dedicate himself to a career as a professor, so he has been delaying writing his doctoral thesis for years. Though he has been with Esther for ten years, that does not indicate any form of commitment on his end, as he will not let the relationship mature or change in any form; he cannot break up with her, and he cannot remain faithful to her. Paul idolizes his only friend, Nathan, a professor of the same age who is not as brilliant as Paul, but has had the admirable drive to at least complete his thesis and secure a teaching post at the university. At the same time, Paul despises his ex-best friend Frederic, who is nearly as bright as Paul, but has an obsessive ambition and forceful ego that have propelled him to department chair over Paul. Paul has affairs with Nathan's girlfriend Sylvia, and her sister-in-law Valerie (both of whom have emotional/mental problems of their own), justifying that each one is better than Esther because they either have a job, a place of their own, and/or educational goals (none of which Paul really has for himself). Paul fancies himself Esther's rock, and eventually dumps her because "no one can carry the weight of someone else's responsibilities." The story, which switches between the present time, a few months earlier, and a year earlier, shows how Karma whips Paul around a bit, and forces him to come to terms with his insecurities, his future, and most importantly, his love for Esther. Paul may be the main character, but Esther (a wonderful performance from the little-seen Emmanuelle Devos) is the true hero of the film. Desplechin's direction is so subtle, yet precise, that at the beginning of the film, we aren't even aware that we are seeing Esther through Paul's eyes: At first, Esther is needy, whiney, suffocating and ugly (a reflection on his esteem for her). But in the middle of the film, after the break up, we see Esther bloom. She all of a sudden becomes stunning, but not through any superficial changes. We see Esther as she truly is: Beautiful, intelligent, and completely self-sufficient, with an amazing and quiet courage. Paul may not be able to carry her responsibility, but all along, it was actually she who carried his. Her greatest fault, as well as her best quality and strength, is her love for Paul, which he is too blind to see at first, then later realizes. (Another credit to Desplechin's direction: Even when Esther is most angry at Paul, you unconsciously see him through her eyes, and see just how charming and intelligent she thinks him to be.) If you're a girl whose heart has been broken, you will relate to Esther's silent moments, her wailing moments, and her struggle to move on with her life. Don't expect things to tie up neatly; real life never resolves itself in simple, concrete ways, and neither do French films. Along with Esther and Paul's doings, we also peek into the lives of Paul's friends and family members, who are all in their mid-twenties and early thirties, and are similarly at crossroads-with-no-signs points in their lives. This large cast of characters plays out the problem of intellectual youth: As bright as they are about academic matters, they are ignorant when it comes to human relationships, including the way they view themselves. Probably also attributed to the otherwise admirable French qualities of discussion and debate, they rationalize or theorize too much on their problems and situations in order to avoid making decisions or taking responsibility for their actions. Do not be put off by the serious and cerebral topics of this film: It is extremely funny, but in an intelligent sort of way. Very little of the humor is physical or circumstantial (although it does have its moments where you will burst out laughing, such as the scene where the monkey gets stuck behind the heater, which a previous reviewer mentioned). "My Sex Life" also offers an alternative view to Paris; it is the setting for all of Paul's romantic moments, but the city has never looked so grey, which reflects the loneliness of the students' lives as they struggle to find love, while blind to the love that is already there. No glamourous scenes, no sunny makes-you-happy-to-be-alive moments; this movie is as gritty as real life, and just as interesting. Mathieu Amalric and Emmanuelle Devos were both nominated for Most Promising Actor and Actress Cesar awards (the French version of the Oscar)for this film. (Amalric took home the award.) the first hour of this movie satisfactorily grabbbed my attention, and based on the comments of other amazon customers, i expected it to improve considerably. it didn't.i knew a great deal of the movie would be conversations. unfortunately, most of them were rather banal. for substance, there was one glib quote by kierkegaard and one by kundera. some of the main character's reflections on the nature of relationship were somewhat insightful. however, most of the other talk centered, unfortunately, on the other characters' sexual ups and downs, which is not necessarily awful, if you like that sort of thing. aside from that, the acting was good, the actresses rather enchanting. although i did find the contrast peculiar, in the scenes in which they were totally nude and the males fully dressed, which was the standard within the film. First of all, I like this movie and had seen it on VHS before ordering it on DVD. I thought it would be a good movie to learn some French by turning off the subtitles since it has a lot of dialog and is long. I was wrong.Problem 1: You can't turn the subtitles off. This is ridiculous for as recent a movie as this. They obviously could have found a print without the subtitles and then offered subtle options on the DVD menu. Problem 2: The subtitles are in white. Again ridiculous - yellow or white with a thin black border obviously work better when against a white tablecloth or sheet (which happens several times). Problem 3: The video quality is terrible. I've watched 50 or so DVD's by now and this one is not up to par - it almost looks like it is raining in some of the darker scenes outside. They even left the annoying marks on the upper right for a film reel change in. I can't wait till all films are just shot digitally in the first place, so we never have to get stuck with these bad transfers again. My advice is to rent it, or if you have a player for the European region, perhaps their version is better. Paul (Mathieu Amalric) is a graduate student in philosophy, nearing 30 years of age, and in a state of stasis: mired in the now-stifling world of academia as a junior instructor, he's stuck on a thesis he can't finish and a 10-year relationship he can't end. When a former classmate turned academic rival is hired on as a full professor, it's too much for the self-pitying scholar. About all he can do is engage in endless conversations about heady French philosophers, drink, and escape his stifling existence in a series of sexual relationships with the gorgeous girlfriends of his buddies. Arnaud Desplechin's study of identity crisis on the cusp of adulthood is filled with so much neurosis, jealousy, guilt, denial, rationalization, and malaise that everyone's bound to identify with something. My Sex Life...is three hours long and the characters never stop talking; stripped of its character dynamics and spot-on behavioral observations it might seem like a Gallic apology for libido-driven male behavior. But Desplechin entirely justifies the entire three hours with a film rich in character, wry humor, and genuine affection.--Sean Axmaker Rerations < My Sex Life...Or How I Got Into an Argument >

customer 's review (9to5)
(One of the BEST comedies of all time!)
(9 to 5 - Sexist, Egotistical, Lying Hypocritical Bigot Edition)
(Welcome Back Ladies)
(IT'S ONLY ME, BUT:) I had 9to5 years ago on video and i could not get it on dvd here in Australia so i look on Amazon site and they had it i was so wrap about getting i.t has it is a fantastic movie i would rate the movie 5 stars i think its a fantastic movie There is NOTHING negative about 9 to 5. It is simply one of the best movies ever made! Dolly is precious; Lily is a stitch; and Jane, while I dislike her politics,is hilarious! Dabney Coleman is at his usual comedic best; and the supporting cast are all simply fabulous! The film is funny from start to finish and will be a cult classic for many decades; it is FUNNY! So get it soon and laugh out loud every time you watch it! Even though the office equipment used in this movie has gone out of style, the comedy still packs a punch! This special edition DVD also has some nice extras celebrating the most famous office comedy of the bunch. What a combo! Fonda, Tomlin, and Parton...who could have ever imagined that one (watch the DVD and you'll see how Fonda herself came up with the casting one enchanted evening).
When this movie was made (1980), the office secretary had no respect. As Fonda points out in the DVD's featurette, the best way to address serious issues and get them out to a large audience is through comedy. This one succeeds on all levels. Judy (Fonda) has just been dumped by her husband...for his secretary. To pay the bills, she takes a job as (what else?) a secretary at the Consolidated Corporation. No-nonsense office manager Violet (Tomlin) trains Judy and passes on some of her frustration at always getting "leap-frogged" over for promotions by the good-ol'-boys network, headed by her sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical boss, Franklin Hart (Dabney Coleman). Hart's personal secretary, Doralee (Parton), has made no friends in the steno pool because Hart has let it "leak" that the two are having an affair; the rest of the girls shun her for this.
When Violet accidentally pours rat poison into her boss' coffee instead of Skinny&Sweet, the antics begin and the office will never be the same as all 3 girls band together to make some changes.
Casting is amazing; Coleman is letter perfect as the slime-ball boss. Parton hits a home-run in her first movie as the heart-of-gold southern secretary who doesn't stand for bull-s&*t. Tomlin is excellent as Violet, especially in a fantasy sequence as a surreal Snow-White. Fonda is totally believeable as the clumsy defenseless woman dumped by a husband who is forced to fend for herself.
Extras include: commentary track with all Fonda, Tomlin,&Parton. Fonda is a little overbearing and is actually told to shut-up at one point. However, much of the excitement is due to how proud all three feel about this film, and how much fun they had making it. Not a lot of behind-the-scenes info, but just hearing the 3 together again is tons of fun. The featurette on the making-of again has all 3 reminiscing about the making of the movie, and includes flubs as well as how the movie came to be. A featurette on Writer/Director Colin Higgins is touching (Higgins has passed away), and all three leads agree on one thing: what a comically gifted and sweet man he was. It is obvious that much of "9 to 5"'s success is due to him. They all credit him for his humor and timing and belief in the project. A few deleted scenes, a gag reel (some of the footage also appears in the documentaries), theatrical trailer, and a karaoke version of the hit title tune round out this excellent DVD.
DEFINITELY one for your comedy collection! A few years ago I went to the 25th Anniversary screening of one of my all time favorite movies 9 To 5. It was held at the Egyptian Theater and it was loaded with a bunch of gay boys and gals reciting lines! It was one of the most surreal movie experiences I've encountered. When I was but a wee boy, Cinemax ran 9 To 5 nonstop and I swear I must've watched the movie every single time it aired.
Classic lines and scenarios abound in this rather topical comedy -
"I'm a murderer" "No, you're not." "I'm a murderess."
"They're going to fire me for this." "Don't get hysterical Violet." "I'm no fool, I killed the boss you think they're not going to fire me for a thing like that?"
"I've got a gun out there in my purse and up to this time I've been forgiving and forgetting, but I"ll get that gun and turn you from a rooster to a hen in one shot!"
And the road rage as the three travel down the dark LA streets with a corpse in the trunk of their big blue Buick! Oh, classic stuff!
At the time of the theatrical presentation, they showed bloopers and gag reels, a retrospective on director/writer Collin Higgins and had one of the co-writers present to talk about. One question that was brought up was whether Fox would make a new DVD version to celebrate the 25th anniversary. The writer, Patricia Resnick thought Fox wasn't even aware it was the 25th anniversary of the film, but lo and behold we get the Sexist, Egotistical, Lying, Hypocritical Bigot Version has been released!
I ran out to Tower the minute it came out so I could get my hands on my own copy. As I walked into Tower on Sunset Boulevard, those boys were playing the movie and reciting every line! It was once again a very surreal moment. Imagine a group of rather punk rock looking boys reciting feminist lines by the likes of Dolly Parton&Lily Tomlin - I love this place!
So now I tell you - run out and buy your own copy! The DVD contains commentary by all three of the leading ladies, and the co-producer. Plus the retrospective I talked about, some bloopers and a karoke version of "9 To 5" so we can all sing along to the theme song! Welcome back 1980 how I missed you! WHAT A WONDERFUL MOVIE. PARTON, JANE FONDA AND LILLY TOMLIN TOGETHER. THREE WORKING GIRLS WITH A SEXIST BOSS WHO PLOT AND CARRY OUT THEIR REVENGE ON HIM. JM With a nod to Preston Sturges's classic dark comedyUnfaithfully Yours(about a man who fantasizes about murdering his possibly philandering wife), this 1980 cotton-candy-feminist-vendetta film concerns a monstrous boss (Dabney Coleman) whose more capable underlings dream of ways of punishing him. That much of the film is particularly fun, but the rest of it descends into silliness when the women stumble onto a real-life opportunity to teach him a lesson. Fonda, the biggest star in the film at the time, takes a back seat to Parton's and Tomlin's showier roles. Written and directed by the late Colin Higgins (who made a lot of people happy in the '70s with his script for the belovedHarold and Maude).--Tom Keogh Rerations < Nine to Five >
