I only had this item for two months before it broke. One entire row stopped working. I tried resetting and it worked for one game. I also do not like the fact that it does not have a backlight.
Almost every game ends with four numbers that are interchangable. I will be tryng another brand.
I bought the unit for my husband who is a big Sudoku fan. All is good except that the font of the puzzle is way too small for him, so I don't think he even finished one game. I tried it myself, and it became very tiring for my eyes after a while. We are very disappointed, but I still gave the product three stars, as I think it's a good concept, but just not right for us. Someone with young eyes may find it good.
Sudoku game is better used for traveling and it is easy to carry in your purse or suite case. The size is more suitable for a person with small hands and the light helps when you want to stay up late to play in the dark when you can't sleep.
The product was a christmas present for my son. He was so excited to open it only to find out that it didn't work. What a dissapointment. I am now in the process of returning it.
Are you kidding me with this one? Two major complaints: One - no backlight on this tiny device. I will go blind if I use this often. Two - there is no way to make possible choices before entering a final number. A very necessary option when solving the more difficult puzzles. Another drawback is that the grid is not visible. The given numbers are underlined and the numbers are drawn like the old analog numbers. Not happy at all with this much-anticipated Christmas gift. It is going back for a different model.

While the product was just what it claimed to be online, I have to admit that I was let down by the quality. It just seemed very cheaply done and considering I bought this as a gift for my sudoku-loving husband, I was disappointed.

I was introduced to this game by my sister who uses it in a classroom for high school children with learning disabilities. I have an acquired brain injury and am always looking to stimulate my thinking. Although, I thought sudoku puzzles were to hard and i would never be able to do this. The coloku has cards to set up games with in levels from easy to exteme. My daughter, who is a math teacher can do the extreme. Needless to say I can't. The whole family can play as well. I am hooked on colorku.
I bought this for my daughter, and she spends hours with it.... much less on TV, I might add. The game is sturdy, packs away well, and is very much mental challenge for her. I am really pleased with it, and so is she.
ColorKu Solid Wood Puzzle by Mad Cave Bird Games

Repeat of the others' reviews. Great for all ages, strong quality, etc. I'm buying more as gifts ASAP.

If you use the clear marble holder, they can be difficult to remove and place on the game board, so I resort to a box or bowl to hold them.

It is a twist that you can't jot "possiblities" in the boxes like you can with traditional number sudoku.

Also, I find that the greens are hard to distinguish light from dark - not on the marbles, but on the starter cards.

I originally bought one for my mother from a different retailer that arrived after Christmas. When it arrived I liked it so much, that I just kept it. The one I ordered from from these guys went to my mother. She really enjoys it too. The only complaint we have, is that on both games, the greens are hard to differentiate. I am going to use a marker to help remedy the situation.
I tried soduko many times and couldn't get my head around it. I kept trying to add the numbers... I tried colorku once and was hooked BIG TIME. If you are a visual person, this is the game for you. Coming home after work, it is the perfect unstressing game. My husband and I play a game every night and it is wonderful, because NOBODY LOSES! We can even play 3 together. (My 8 year old granddaughter loves to play with me!) I highly recommend it! And if you like soduko, here is another way to play it!

The backlighting was very good and useful. However, even after sporadic use, the unit started to act up. Now after about 10 uses it locks up and more frequently than not, certain keys will not go into the squares no matter how hard you try. Resetting does not help and it happens at any time. Now of course, it is a few days after the return policy has expired and I have a piece of junk.. Don't buy it, you will probably be sorry. If you do buy it , i hope you get at least 11 uses out of it.
I like the product, but it is a little difficult to use. The pointer is too soft and I often need to press extra hard to get the correct number entered. Overall, its about what I thought it would be, though.
I love this Sudoku game,I play it all the time. The game is cheap, fun, and it's small. An added plus is the back light.

I've read all the reviews before deciding on ordering the product. I am shocked. How can anyone rate it as a good product?? You have to keep the screen under a certain angle to see the numbers on the screen. One wrong move and you see all the numbers in every cell. Without the light, you cannot see anything at all on the screen. Plus, the touch screen responds poorly to the stylus. I guarantee if you buy it, you'll hate it and want to return it!

This device is really nice. I like the fact that it does not have a lot of light to the screen, because that would make batteries go out faster.

The description makes it sound large, but it really isn't that large. It's a nice, portable size. The dry-erase pen slips neatly into the back of the device, easy to keep up with and out of the way.

The instructions seem clear, and it has various proficiency levels and plenty of games. Seems like a good way to play Sudoku!
The device seems to work just as advertised. Have had zero problems with it. I bought it for my wife and she loves doing suduko problems and so she has enjoyed it.

It has 4 navigation buttons for moving around and then 9 buttons to enter in numbers into the puzzles. It also has buttons for solving certain squares for you or to check to see if you are right so far. By using those buttons you are penalized on time. You can also select the level of the puzzle that you want to do, so this should be challenging for all levels of suduko players.

Overall a good product for a good price.

Brain age is pretty fun. I wish that it had more games than the few games it has.
Since I acquired the Nintendo, I have enjoyed many games. Brain Age is the one that makes me feel like I am doing something of value. It guilts me into returning each day to see if I improve my scores. I can't vouch for it improving IQ but it does seem to teach us to improve on the tasks presented so if life ever presents a stroop test... I'm an ace.
I enjoy the math but so far it can't read my handwriting so I fail in all of the handwriting portions which makes my brain age lower than it should be. I bought this to keep my brain active and I think the math helps that. I am working on the handwriting.

I looked for this game for over 6 months in various places for my husband and finally decided to get it here and pay the extra postage, which made it really expensive. I guess it's out of print, or however they say that for games. He likes it really well as he's a sudoku junkie. It says that the games are savable but he can't figure out how to get back into them after he's saved them.

Else that, it's the only one he plays.
I have purchased a couple of games,but I find this one to be totally useless.
Who wants to play 8 squares ? and it is just too difficult to select the number from the side panel.
I much prefer the BrainAge Sudoku.
I am presently looking for a Sudku ONLY game like Sudoku Classic
I read quite a few reviews before purchasing this DS version of Sudoku. For the price, it's a great DS game with a lot of different versions of Sudoku. One thing to note, you have to remember to turn off the eraser after making a change.
The Ultimate Puzzle Games - Sudoku Edition is the best Sudoku software I have tried. It has many choices for puzzles: the Classic 9 x 9 grid with Easy, Medium, Hard and Extreme levels of difficulty.

It offers also the Eight 8 x 8 or Mini 6 x 6 grid with Easy and Medium levels. Has also a Junior grid which is a 4 x 4 with an Easy level. It offers from the very basic, beginner level to the extreme hard puzzles.

If you get interrupted and cannot finish the game, YOU CAN SAVE IT if for later by pressing the START button on the DS console. A Menu opens offering a Game sub-menu with choices for Restart Puzzle, Solve Puzzle or Quit. Next is the Options sub-menu with the choices for SAVE, Reset Best Time, Music, ERROR HIGHLIGHT, Background and How to Play.

Besides this, when playing the game you have on the screen icons that allow you to pencil-in or erase candidates, erase entries, undo last move or redo last move.

I have played the Sudokus that come with the BRAIN AGE games and prefer the ones from the Ultimate Puzzle Games Sudoku Edition. The BRAIN AGE software frequently has trouble recognizing the numbers I am trying to pencil-in or enter, showing a 9 when I am trying to enter a 4, a 1 instead of a 7, and so on. It is quite annoying. With the Ultimate Puzzle Games Sudoku Edition I DON'T HAVE THIS PROBLEM, the numbers are tapped in, they are not "written" by hand.

Also, the BRAIN AGE Sudokus do not offer the different kinds of Sudoku puzzles the Ultimate Puzzles Sudoku Edition offers, nor do they have the unlimited number of puzzles this software can create.

The Ultimate Puzzle Games Sudoku Edition software is the one I prefer and I highly recommend it as the best.

This is a great game. It was well protected for shipping. This game alowes you to place small numbers in the blank squares to help you solve the puzzle. MOST GAMES WORK FINE. ONE IN A WHILE THE LOADING FEATURE LOCKS UP AND WE HAVE TO UNPLUG THE WII FROM POWER SOURCE AND RESTART. IT SEEMS TO BE NOT DOING IT NOW, SO WE WILL SEE. OTHER THAN THAT GAMES ARE GOOD. DO NOT KNOW HOW TO PLAY SOME OF THEM AND NOT MUCH DOCUMENTATION TO HELP YOU IN THAT AREA.
This wasn't what I was expecting, the board games are ones that is a lot less popular so I didn't know how to play some of them. I would think twice before getting it.
There is nothing complex about this game, or actually series of games. However, it is a lot of fun to play because it can be very challenging. Even on the easy level, the computer is a tough opponent. Enjoyable for people of all ages.
I bought this game thinking it would have to have at least some redeeming qualities, but I was wrong. I am a big fan of chess and thought that at the very least I would have that. I found it absolutely ridiculous how difficult the AI was for chess. On the easiest level it took me ten games before I finally beat the computer. The game is good for the kids, as it incorporates classic games like "Connect Four", "Battleship", and "Checkers", and if you want to play against other human players, the set-up is good, but the AI on this game is ridiculous. I wouldn't suggest this game to anyone who isn't looking for a frustrating time.
The games are what I expected, but I am disappointed in the overall quality. It appears to be a poorly translated game. So some of the terms used don't necessarily mean what you expect them to. It's a lot of guessing...

And some games just aren't right unless you have a big screen, which I don't. There is a boggle-like game, where you select words from a table of letters on the screen. on my 32 inch TV, the letters are so small, my eyes go buggy after awhile.

I'm a puzzle nut so anytime I find puzzles on the internet I usually have to buy them. This one is great and has a bunch of really fun ones and you can pick them from easy to hard and same shape to very odd! I highly recommend this game to any puzzle crazy person out there!

Up stepped the makers of this puzzle game
And fixing up jigsaws just won't be the same
No need for a table, no pieces to lose
You make them as easy or hard as you choose
Set them up simple for kids who're in training
Or horribly hard for the days when it's raining
And although a million is not quite correct
There's really no reason for you to object
It lets you upload your own pictures you see
Which is awesomely clever, I think you'll agree
Choose your piece thickness and choose your piece style

Pros:
1. No pieces no lose, no tables to commandeer
2. You sort your pieces in "trays" just like you would do on a table. You can have as many trays as you like.
3. No threat of someone messing it up when you're not around. You can save your puzzle and go back to it later.
4. You can set the level of difficulty to suit your mood. There are four levels of difficulty.
5. It even plays music while you work (you can turn it off)
6. Fun for the whole family (unless you upload x-rated photos)

Cons:
1. It's not quite as good as the real thing, but it comes close.
2. When you've played the easy stages with the pieces the right way up and a background image to guide you, it's hard to make yourself graduate to the hard stuff.
3. You can't experience the sweet sensation of finding mistakes, because once a piece is in the right vicinity it jumps gleefully into place, and can't be dislodged. Not sure if you can turn this off, but I'm going to see if I can.
4. There are several categories of puzzle themes, and you need to load each section individually. This is a bit of a pain, as you have to close all IE or Firefox applications to do it.

Recommended for puzzle lovers who are short on puzzle-fixing space, and people who'd like to be able to do puzzles on a laptop while commuting. A great way to utilise some spare time.

I got this CD for my mother and she has really enjoyed puting together the puzzles that it contains, but what she enjoys the most is the fact that she can take her own pictures that she has downloaded onto her computer and create her own puzzles.
I bought this puzzles because I don't like having jigsaw puzzles taking up table space until I can get to it so this solves that problem by saving it. I have vision problems so the fact that you can make the puzzle pieces as large as you need is terrific for any one who has vision issues. You can also decide how many pieces you want your puzzle to be so you determine how easy or difficult it will be. I am happy with the variety of puzzles on this disc. I highly recommend this puzzle for all ages.
My husband and I both enjoy puzzles and have purchased several of the Puzzle Master puzzles. Consequently when I saw the 1,000,000 on the Puzzle cover I was estatic, I expected at least 2 discs of puzzles. My husbands birthday was coming and I wanted to give him something he would enjoy. He has completed every puzzle on the Puzzle Master 1 thru 5 puzzles which we already have. I bought the Puzzle Master 1,000,000. Disappointed is not even close to how I felt...cheated is more like it. There are not even as many puzzles on this particular disc as on previous discs. They want you to make the 1,000,000 puzzles from your own photos. What you really purchased is maybe 100 puzzles and many of these are repeats from other versions of Puzzle Master. I will no longer recommend Puzzle Master.

Sudoku has always been fascinating but the quality of each puzzle is dependent on its author. This is one of the best I have come across and highly recommended to everyone.
Thumbs down. Didn't even finish the first game. It was so hung up on graphics that it forgot that the purpose was the game itself!
I needed a sudoku source generated without the internet (my employer's server blocks all sudoku puzzles!) The layout is marginal. The rows and columns are difficult to read.

The easy puzzles are ok but the medium is too hard. They require notation which I associate with the 4 star or hard level.

The game was cheap and it is better than nothing but there must be better products on the market.
I had just started doing Sudoku puzzles. I was trying to find some on the internet to print and do when I came across Amazon and Sugoku Puzzle Addict during one of my searches. I couldn't believe the price and I knew it was too good to be true. I thought for sure there would end up being strings attached. Love all the puzzles and the variety of difficulties. HATE the binding. Pages are coming out. The back of the book came off the spiral. We've resorted to ripping out the pages we've finished with to try to keep it together.
The puzzles are great, and the quality of the paper is high. But I bought spiral-bound thinking I could fold it back on itself to work one puzzle at a time. The construction of this book does not allow that and it gets tiring to hold the whole book open while you work puzzles. This book would make a nice-looking gift for someone, but it's not very comfortable to use.
This book contains 400 Sudoku puzzles to meet all skill levels from easy to difficult. The pages are high quality print that is easy to read, even erase when neccessary. The margins are wide enough for making notations or marks to aid in solving each puzzle. The only negative item is with the spiral binding. It is oversized and does not allow the book to lay flat when open.

If you are looking for extremely difficult Sudoku puzzles, this is not the book for you. Everyone else that enjoys mental exercise and pleasure from solving logic puzzles will be pleased with Will Shortz's little black book.

This sturdy puzzle book is great. We have two of them in the house because neither of us can leave it alone for long. The spiral binding is a must- have. (I paper clipped the top of the spiral closed.) The pages are of substantial quality and are completely eraseable (although I don't recommend the eraser on your pencil - it smudges - a big pink eraser is best). The printed numbers are large and easy to read. The puzzles themselves are very challenging and interesting - I would recommend this book to anyone.
I purchased this book as a gift for my husband since he just got hooked on the game. All he does now is play in his little black book! I guess it could be worse!!! He absolutely loves this book. I would recommend it highly to any one. Be careful though, it is pretty addicting.

I wasn't getting any kick from the "medium" level any more, so ordered this one. YES, they are hard! Good puzzles.

The printing, though, is rotten. It's on cheap newsprint-type paper (don't use a felt-tip pen) and with so little margin that it's really awkward trying to write on the left-hand pages. A third of the book is answers, printed just two to a page. What a waste. Who uses them anyway? For the same amount of paper, they could have printed 8 or 15 answers to a page and made more margin on the puzzle pages. But then the book wouldn't have looked so thick - a marketing fooler that fooled ME.

Well, I've gone through quite a few sudoku books and thought I was hot stuff. Then Ferocious Sudoku book assaulted my ego. Well, if you're looking to step up to the big leagues, this is the book; I haven't found a tougher one.
This book gives you 100 "difficult" puzzles and 100 "very challenging" puzzles. Although there's no official grading system for Sudoku puzzles, I've done about half the puzzles in this book and I would say those descriptions are accurate. The "difficult" puzzles are hard enough to make me think but not so hard that I've had to use notations to solve them, and the "very challenging" puzzles usually require me to make notations and I've even gotten hung up on a couple of them.

The book is big enough so that the puzzles can be easily read yet small enough that it will fit in your laptop case. It's also very fairly priced for the number of puzzles you get.
These puzzles aren't as hard as I had hoped, but are better than most books. Well worth it, and will pass the time as desired.
