3 Things

1st the puzzles are impossible even on the easiest levels. I went online to use a Sudoku solver. Any one that uses normal solution techniques couldn't solve them either. There was one that brute forced it and it came up with multiple solutions for one puzzle - which tells you that logic won't work

2) the screen is imposible to read in any light

3) there is no way to annotate possible values. With the puzzles being so hard you have to translate them to paper so you can list possible values. At which point why do you need this game - just buy a book
I got this product for free from a rewards site. Please be aware that you cannot see the screen to play it. There is no light either if you would like to play it at night in a dimly lit room. Thank goodness it was free or I would be sending it back.

The industry needs to realize that making a toy as inexpensive as possible is not the way to make money. Sure, this thing is only selling for five bucks, but I would gladly pay fifteen for something that actually WORKED! I was so excited when this item came in because it looked like so much fun. You cant even turn this thing once without the individual cubes wanting to snap out. After every turn, you have to put the pieces back into place.
pieces are very fragile and pop-out while turning. Very hard to rotate. So difficult to rotate that you loose the interest in the play.

This puzzle is one of the most difficult puzzles I've ever seen....

It's not Sudoko, and it's not rubik cube..
It's a new type of puzzle which is really intersting and challanging.. I really like it... :)..
If you are clever enough I advice you to try it...

But be careful while you are playing with it.. I recommend to remove one of the corners and put inside the cube some Vaseline, otherwise it might be broken while moving
I enjoy a challenge, but this toy is really difficult to solve. Sudoku puzzles and Rubik's Cubes are fun, but combining them makes it nearly impossible to solve. I think it would help if each side were also color coded, but with it being entirely black and white, it makes it more difficult than it should be. It's also somewhat difficult to turn. It's a cute toy, especially if you like Sudoku puzzles and Rubik's cubes, but don't expect to solve this puzzle.
I got this for my little brother's birthday and he seemed to enjoy it at first, however, he later became obsessed with solving the cube. He grew increasingly more distant and eventually stopped talking to friends and family. It got to the point where he was down to 75 pounds because he refused to eat; While he was furiously twisting the diabloical block, it broke apart, sending numbered shrapnel across the room killing both our parents. Oblivious to our parents life-less bodies, he locked himself in his room, determined to repair the cube and complete it's unholy puzzle. I could only hear animal-like howls and shrieks through the door. I haven't seen my brother in twelve years. I'm selling our house; I'll probably just brick up the doorway and plaster over it.

This item is dangerous and should be banned from sale in the US.

I was thrilled with this when I unwrapped it Christmas morning! However, I have a [...] handheld from WalMart and like the options of my ceap one much better. With this expensive one, you cannot pause...the unit "goes to sleep" after 3 minutes, you cannot put in a "let's see if this number will work" number, you cannot tell by looking at the screen what numbers are given and what numbers you have input.

Figuring out how to use this is also a long process.

Overall, I will stick with my [...] one!

After my initial disappointment that newspapers remove their crossword puzzles from their kindle editions, I found that someone finally found a way to make puzzle games work on the kindle. Its sudoku, just like the name says, you just click on the square and type your number. There is even a button to check your answers and get hints, an improvement upon the the newspaper version. Whats more I noticed they found a way to update the game even after I bought it. I used to have to press the menu button twice if I wanted to get a hint, but this has been fixed. I look forward to further improvements from the authors of these puzzles.
I downloaded this title to my Kindle yesterday. Even though 10 sudoku puzzles for $ .95 is an extraordinarily bad deal, considering that you can get books or magazines containing hundreds of puzzles for a few bucks, I was intrigued by the prospect of playing on my Kindle. I am sure that we will soon see selections of sudokus, crosswords and other puzzles for the Kindle that will be worth the money. However, this title, while intriguing, is definitely NOT.

The problem is not with the Kindle functionality, which seems to be fine. I am not even bothered, as some seem to be, that your Whispernet needs to be turned on, because the puzzles are actually downloaded as you play them. I subscribe to a newspaper and a couple of blogs, so I keep my Kindle online all of the time anyway, and am accustomed to recharging it every three or four days, or more often if I am using it a lot.

The problem with this collection is that the sudoku puzzles themselves are poorly designed. It looks to me like the "authors" have little to no understanding of sudoku at all. I am sure they got some completed grids from the solution section of a sudoku book and tried to make the puzzles "their own" by simply changing the givens, the numbers already filled in on the grid before you start solving. The problem is, they didn't realize that if you don't choose the given numbers carefully, you can end up with more than one possible correct solution, at least for some grids, where there are subsets of numbers that can be interchanged without violating the rules that stipulate that each digit can only occur once in each column, in each row and in each three-by-three box.

So far, I have solved three puzzles -- the free sample, and numbers 2 and 5 from the ten I purchased. In all three cases, I solved the puzzle down to such an ambiguous outcome. In the case of the two easy puzzles (the sample and number 2), I got to a point where there were four cells left, two in one box and two in another, in parallel rows, and the two numbers needed to complete the puzzle could be entered in either order to complete the puzzle successfully. At that point, all you can do is guess which solution the authors intended. In one case, I got the message that I had completed the puzzle correctly, and in the other case, I got a message saying I had four boxes filled in incorrectly, even though my solution was every bit as valid as theirs.

The moderate puzzle (number 5) leads to a slightly more complicated outcome, with 10 boxes involved in what are potentially two different but correct solutions. Again, when you solve the puzzle down to this point, you have essentially successfully solved it, no matter which of the two ways of completing it you choose, but you will get the message saying you were correct only if you choose the solution the authors intended in their apparent ignorance.

The technology is there, and the Kindle should be a good tool for doing sudokus and other puzzles. However, unless you enjoy frustration, I would recommend that you stay away from this particular series.

I think this game is just what the Kindle has needed; a fully functional game that can be played easily using the five way controller of the Kindle 2.

Unfortunately, since you do have to momentarily turn on the wireless to load each individual game, you will not be able to use this while traveling outside wireless areas or while on an airplane.

Having said that, I think it is great that someone has finally made a game that can be played on the Kindle (especially one so mentally stimulating like Sudoku!)

My personal interest in this is to supplement my newspaper subscriptions on the Kindle that don't come with the puzzles you would otherwise get with a physical subscription. With this I get to satisfy my momentary impulses to either read an interesting article from a newspaper or play a quick Sudoku game.

Also, once you are done with the games that come with this, the author has published two more volumes with more playable games.
This 'book' basically just contains links to a sudoku webpage and instructions on how to use the 5-way controller to enter the answers. While the puzzles do work well you have to have wireless on to use them which drains the battery quickly. I was hoping for something you could play with wireless off.

I think this is a great book of sudoku. Puzzles are a nice size and book is a good size to carry about. Just a fun puzzle to do when you have a few extra minutes. Warning, you may get addicted. Thanks!
It is a fun way to start Suduko. My husband is pretty good and is doing the hard ones and I'm starting with the easy. I wish at more strategies for solving them. It has some basic ones that I figured out on my own but not intermediate to advanced strategies. But it also isn't a teaching book. The answer key in the back appears to have a mistake. On the on bonus 12 square ones the answers have a 13 but no 12. But It wouldn't affect solving them and you can check your work without looking at the answers.
I look for Sudoku books with three qualities. First, I want puzzles that have only one solution. If I find a book that includes puzzles with more than one solution I discard it. Two, I want books with grids large enough that I can enter candidates in the cells. Third, I want books with challenging puzzles. Many of the descriptions on Amazon omit such info.

I prefer grids that are about 4½" x 4 ½". The grids in my newspaper are about 3" x 3" (which is tolerable because not many candidates are needed).

Shortz's Sudoku Easy to Hard # 3: The puzzles have only one solution; the grids are 4½" x 4 1/2", and 25 are "Light and Easy," 25 "Moderate," 25 "Demanding," and 25 "Beware! Very Challenging."
You have to think so it's a good thing and something to entertain and or keep you occupied especially on long trips.
I was challenged and happy with this book of sudoku until I reached the special "Giant Sudoku" section at the end. This section features a 12x12 sudoku grid in which you are meant to fill in the numbers 1-12. However, the initial setup includes the number 13 in all puzzles!

Other than that, the book provides a nice ramp up from easy to challenging.

I like these puzzles, but found that I could complete all of the super-fiendish ones in the back (ok, I screwed a couple of them up). Generally they are nice airplane puzzles, would like to see a whole book of super-fiendish puzzles, though.

These puzzles are of similar difficulty to the "hard" sudoku that appear in the newspaper on the weekend, perhaps even a little more difficult. Most of the puzzles I've done so far required at least one or two guesses to solve, so be sure to use a pencil for each guess in case it doesn't lead you to the solution. Sudoku is a fun way to pass the time, and I am looking forward to spending lots of time with this collection of puzzles.

New York Post Su Doku Fiendish (Wayne Gould): The puzzles have only one solution; the grids are about 3½" x 3 ½". There are 200 puzzles in this book; 190 "Fiendish," and 10 "Super Fiendish." Gould does not need to make "pencil marks" and assumes the rest of us don't. Hence, small grids for fiendish puzzles.
I have to admit that I do love Wayne Gould's puzzles, which is why I bought this book sight unseen. Being an addict of very difficult sudoku (or "Su Doku", as he calls them), I looked forward to his worst. This is written after solving the first half.

Mr. Gould is of the solving school that thinks marking up the puzzle gets in the way of good solving. He challenges the solver to find his carefully hidden clues, all of which can be found without marking up -- if you have a better memory for numbers than I have. This is great fun, and I appreciate and enjoy the challenge. The downside is that for people who like REALLY hard (grid coloring, logic chains), these puzzles are not fiendishly hard.

I highly recommend this book to those who are trying to learn how to solve very difficult puzzles that can be solved by traditional techniques. It is filled with interesting and varied puzzles, and you will find some much harder than others because they test different solving methods. For an advanced solver, it is certainly much more fun than the average book.

Lots of puzzles. Good variety with a clean presentation and a few extra mini-games that extend playability. If you love Sudoku this is the one to get.
Really fun and encourages addiction.

pros - more sudoku games than you can shake a DS at.
the mini games are fun, too.

cons - no option to turn off the coach.
pencil marking is very tiny and hard to read and edit.
Only tracks a single player.
auto-save is weird, you have to go out to the main menu before the "Saving" message is displayed.
This game if fun, the only thing that I really didn't like was when I tried to write a number in the game had problems telling witch number I was writing.
I recentlly got hooked on Sudoku and had to have this for my DS. This game is great. Not only does it have sudoku but some other challenges which are also fun. I love the fact that it has help tips for those puzzles which are a little more advanced than I can handle. I would recomend this to all sudoku lovers.

This is not your easy Mah Jong, kids may have difficulties with this but adults will find it intriguing! You'll sometimes have to quit with dismay that you were not able to finish a very hard game but, keep at it! A good challenge for the mind.
These games are so much fun, they're totally addicting.
Just when you think you can't solve a puzzle- it happens.
You solve it and move on to the next!

This game is indeed a challenge, I already had The Curse of Ra and completed all levels except 46, couldn't break code so if someone out there was able to get this level I would love to hear how, Am just starting the other Ra games, so will be interesting, and challenging, I am 52 years old, so it goes to show you are never to old for video game challenges. thanks

Don't buy this game if you enjoy the format of Ninetendo's Sudoku game in Brain Age. This is terrible! I can't believe these guys would release a game that is so cumbersome to use as to make it useless. I ended up using paper and pencil because this game was nothing but a total guess and lacked the ability to use small numbers to strategize as to which numbers actually belong in the square. A TOTAL waste!!
I certainly wish that I had read all the reviews before picking this game up. I agree that the fonts are terrible - it is very hard to distinguish the numbers. So it's more frustrating to play than anything.
The navigation is also clunky compared to the sudoku in the Brain Age game.
I was sumoewhat shocked to see that there were so many bad reviews on this game. I am addicted to it. I do agree that on a couple of the sets the numbers are hard to distinguish but other than that I really love it. I play it every single day. So it was 10 bucks well spent for me. :)
Was a bit difficult to figure out at first; once you get going on the game it is hard to put down. This is different in the way you move from cell to cell, doesn't allow you to make notations, different backgrounds are nice but once I found one that makes it a bit easier to move I won't switch it now.
I agree with the other reviews that this is the worst sudoku out there. It's allready all been said: the numbers are too similar to each other (especially the 3's and 8's) and being required to use the gamepad to navigate to an open square is aweful. Don't buy it.
