(Great puzzle for on the go.)
(Great for the Classroom)
(Lots of fun and travels well!) Excellent delivery and condition! My 11 yr. old grandson really enjoys this toy, finds it challenging and also has played with this item in school. My only complaint is that is not as durable (paper product)for long term use as I would like. My daughter (and her classmates) love this game! The different levels allow success at the beginning and challenges once the child figures out the game. I have bought several more as birthday gifts! I love this game. It is much nicer than regular paper and pencil versions. And it is great to take with me when I'm outside with the kids or during LONGGG bathtimes watching the kids. Even though it is a 5 x 5 puzzle, it still has three challenges per puzzle (rows, columns, and color grouping). If you are not great at sudoku, this is a great one to start with to boost your confidence. As My kids get older, I will teach them how to play. My students love sudoku puzzles, but the 9 x 9's are hard for the average second grader. So this is a perfect starting place. They experience success as they move up through the levels of difficulty. It makes a great gift for people who like to give "educational gifts" to their children or grandchildren. It travels nicely, too. It would keep children occupied in the car. Buy it! I've bought 5 so far! This is a nice little game that is great for travel. It has several levels so you can start slowly and work your way up to expert levels that are more challenging. I have two children, 10 and 14, and they both love it! It was my first experience with Sudoku and I can see how it can be addicting. Just like the traditional game, Sudoku 5 X 5 play begins with several given numbers. Players face the challenge of filling in the rest of the grid. But there's a catch -- each row, column and color-coded region can only contain one instance of each number. It's harder than it looks! Provides hours of addictive brain-building fun. customer 's review (Sudoku Cube - more of a novelty) It's a neat idea&colorful. However, it isn't as entertaining as a regular rubiks cube. Also, you can feel wiggle in the blocks&have to shift it around to get it seated so you can turn a row. I think it makes a fun novelty gift for a sudoku fan, but not a real mind bender puzzle. If you like Sudoku, you'll love Sudoku Cube! It features billions of combinations - with only one solution. Solve 18 different Sudoku puzzles simultaneously on the cube. There are six vertical across three sides (3 + 3 + 3), six horizontal across three sides and six regional - one on each side. (Loved it!)
(Fun Read)
(puzzles within puzzles) Shelley Fredont is the author of five Linda Haggerty Mysteries and also pens romance novels under the name Gemma Bruce. She is involved in many writers groups, including the Mystery Writers of America, Romance Writers of America, New Jersey Romance Writers, and the Kiss of Death RWA chapter. She is also past president of the New York/Tri State chapter of Sisters in Crime. She is a Sudoku aficionado, and loves puzzles of all sorts. She hails from Ridgewood, New Jersey.
In this first Katie McDonald mystery we find the heroine, on break from her think-tank, classified, mathematics position in a think tank, arriving in her home town at the behest of her old friend Professor P.T. Avondale. Katie was a "geek" in school, which made for a lonely existence until the Professor took her under his wing. He runs a puzzle museum, and Katie arrives on the scene to find the museum in extreme disrepair and under the threat of repossession by the bank. Katie knows something is amiss, and when she finds the Professor stabbed she enters into a tension-filled relationship with the new Chief of Police:
"'Cut it out, you little termagant. I'm trying to help.'
That voice. She shook her head. She recognized that voice. She stopped struggling. Made herself look up. Chief of Police Brandon Mitchell stood over her. The light from the flashlight turned his features into Boris Karloff. She took a step back. 'Oh.'
'Oh,' he mimicked. He stepped away from her, leaving chill air in the space between them. 'Would you like to tell me what happened and why you felt compelled to clobber me?'"
THE SUDOKU MURDER is an expertly crafted whodunit with heart. Katie is an inspiring heroine, as she grows into her predestined role in life. The sexual tension between her and the Chief has the reader silently screaming, "Oh, for Pete's sake, get a room, will ya?" Shelley Freydont writes with a sense of humor and a brisk plot. Her characterization of Katie's hometown is smack dab on, and the sweetness of the murdered professor permeates the entire novel. We'll look forward to more Katie!

When I saw sudoku turned into a mystery novel, I had to read about it. And I must say, this book was very good. I really liked the characters and plot. I definitely look forward to reading her next novel which I see in coming soon. Can't wait! This is a good book for that rainy day when, on vacation, you have nothing to do. A little contrived, but what mysteries aren't. I enjoyed the book. This well-written mystery grabbed my attention from page one. Katie is reluctantly drawn into a small New England town murder mystery full of intrigue that rings true, believable quirky characters and all. What with the popularity of sudoku, as well as all puzzles, The Puzzle Museum, almost istelf a character in this plot, will make you yearn to visit. The surprising plot twists will keep mystery lovers, as well as sudoku fans reading way into the night. I look forward to the next Katie McDonald mystery.
“This intriguing first in a new series from Freydont (A Merry Little Murderand four other mysteries featuring dancer Linda Haggerty) introduces mathematician and Sudoku whiz Katie McDonald. Katie, a self-professed geek who works for a hush-hush government think tank, returns to her hometown of Granville, NH, at the behest of her former mentor, P.T. Avondale. Katie is shocked to find Avondale frail and preoccupied, his beloved puzzle museum in serious disrepair and dire financial straits. Before Katie can make sense of the situation, she discovers Avondale murdered in his office—slumped over an unfinished Sudoku puzzle that may provide a clue to the killer’s identity. She tops the brash new police chief’s suspect list and decides to solve the case on her own, not only to clear her name but to save the Avondale museum from the wrecking ball.Readers will want to see a lot more of the intelligent and endearing Katie.”—Publishers Weekly Rerations < The Sudoku Murder: A Katie McDonald Mystery (Katie Mcdonald Mystery) >

(Good for everyone!)
(Great book for kids)
(From the Board Games Editor at BellaOnline.com) This is a great book on Sudoku for kids. The book includes 151 puzzles. All the puzzles are 9x9. The solutions are at the end of the book. The puzzles are categorized in six levels starting at Level One (Brain Tricklers) to Level Six (Major Meltdown).
The first 17 pages of the book are dedicated to strategy with tips, rules, and hints. One drawback is that this book does not include simple 4x4 puzzles like the two books "Kindergarten Sudoku" and "Kids' Sudoku for Dummies".
My first grade niece really enjoyed the puzzles in Levels 1&2 by herself, and enjoyed doing those in levels 3,4&5 with some adult help. Level 6 puzzles completely took over the holidays among the adults, and pretty much made getting anything else done impossible.
My 4 yr old is hooked on Sudoku. He has both the 1 and 2 books. #1 was from Grandma and he told her 2 months after she gave him the book that he didn't have any fun until she got him the book. It has helped him with his fine motor skills (writing his numbers) and keeps him just as entertained as computer games or television. If your family, like mine, has noticed a discernable lack of breakfast table conversation since the sudoku craze hit the United States, and your kids seem a little bit put off by the fact that Mom and Dad both have their noses buried in a sudoku, why not quiet them down by shoving this lovely little book under their noses?
In all seriousness, though, this is a great sudoku book for kids or beginners. The puzzles start at VERY easy and move to what an adult's easy-intermediate level would be. Remember that math skills are not necessary for sudoku-it's a logic puzzle which just happens to use numbers (they're used entirely symbolically) so if your kid hates math, they still may very well enjoy this book.
Again, this is not JUST for kids, people who've never tried sudoku before may enjoy this book as it starts off at a super-basic level. THE KID'S BOOK OFSUDOKU Sudoku is the puzzle craze that's sweeping the nation. Now you, too, can become a genuine Sudoku genius! This book tells you exactly how to get solving. It includes more than 150 puzzles, ranging in difficulty from brain ticklers, that will get you started (and addicted), to brain bogglers for scorchin' Suduko-ers. (Nasty Mensa)
(Difficult but...)
(A stumper!!!!) I bought this for a friend, who had paid twice the price at a large chain book store, for others in this series. She loves this set of books, and this one she loved as it was challenging. I like the puzzles very much. They were the challenging kind that I have been looking for. My minor complaints are that the print was too small and that there was not enough room to write in the margins. Of couse, it might help if my eyesight was better. Mensa Absolutely Nasty Sudoku Level 3 (Mensa)
I like to think of myself as a sudoku whiz and this book has me humbled. It's difficult but not impossible. It's a matter of patience and logic that will win the day against these absolutely nasty puzzles. I finally found some really difficult sudoku - they take time! But from the write-up I was expecting to get some explanations on how to solve using the more complicated techniques. It would also be nice if the answers included reference to which of the more difficult techniques were used to solve them. I finally found a sudoku puzzle that can't be done in an hour. An awesome book.
The difficulty level soars, as even more tricks get added to the mix: X-Wing; Swordfish; XY-Wing; XYZ-Wing; and the Gordonian Rectangle. Rerations < Mensa Absolutely Nasty Sudoku Level 3 (Mensa) >

customer 's review (Fun With No Fluff!)
(Better interface than most)
(I LOVE Sudoku Gridmaster)
(THIS IS SO FUN!!!!)
(Sudoku Gridmaster-An ok game for the DS.) Sudoku in a video game should be straight forward, easy to grasp controls, and a font that's pleasant to look at at. Sudoku Gridmaster has all of this. Plus you can test to see where you rank (ie bronze, silver, gold, platinum) after completing a certain number of puzzles in Normal or Hard mode. This version is MUCH better than Platinum Sudoku in my opinion, even though there are only 400 puzzles here. The puzzles are similar to the Nikoli versions Original Sudoku. I highly recommend this game. I would have to say that given all of the sudoku games being produced, this one is second easiest to play (other than Brain Age). But then again, you don't have to go through the Brain Age interface to get to play sudoku. Would be better with random puzzle generation, as once you've beaten them all you can only better your times or reset the whole thing. I play it all the time - it will stay in my game library! This is the most addictive Sudoku DS game that I own (and I have them all). I only wish they would come out with a second edition. Being able to highlight blocks and numbers really helps my playing. I have found that playing Sudoku Gridmaster has honed my overall playing skills. When I go back to Brain Age, I can solve puzzles more easily and efficiently as a result of playing Gridmaster. I can barely put it down. I'm almost finished solving ALL the skill levels and I'm planning on starting over again. Highly recommend this game. Carol I REALLY like this game. Sure, it isn't as good as Brain Age, but it is still really fun and the puzzles are GREAT!! I don't bother writing my answers. I just use the numbers. It's much easier. From what I've heard, it's better than the other Sudokus on the market and very convenient when waiting at the airport or doctor's office. You can't please everyone, but they did a pretty decent job. I actually love the version on my phone of all places. It's simple and let's you focus on the game. :) HAPPY SUDOKUING!!!!!
This was the second game I bought for my Nintendo DS. I was looking for something to play that would pass some time during long plane rides. This game does the trick!
So what's to like about this game? Hey, it's Sudoku. Chances are if you are considering buying this game, you know what Sudoku is. It may not be the most interesting game for the DS but it's a good puzzle game that forces you to use your brain. Second, you have different levels of difficulty. I started at the practice level and have now worked my way to the easy level. Third, there are a ton of puzzles to play so you don't have to play the same few puzzles over and over.
And what's not to like? Like some other reviewers said, the background and music are pretty boring. If this doesn't bother you, you have nothing to worry about. Also, I can't play this game for a good amount of time. I only pull this out when I need to pass some time.
If you're looking for a good Sudoku game and don't mind annoying music and unpleasant background colors, this is a good choice. However, I'm sure that there are better Sudoku games out there. Sudoku Gridmaster brings the most challenging elements of the hit puzzle game to your DS! This number-based puzzle game has taken the nation by storm -- walk into any airport or train station and you're likely to see someone with a Sudoku book. Now you can challenge yoursefl to solve this collection of number puzzles. See if you can become a real Sudoku master! Earn stars to unlock new rewards and challenges Rerations < Sudoku Gridmaster >
