There are basically no reviews out there so I felt like I was taking a chance so I thought I would leave a review to help others with their decision.
Initially when I played the game through the box I thought there was no way my son could play this. He cannot read more than the basics yet. Judging from the disk on the front, the game appeared to require reading. I decided to investigate further - this is a gift, I didn't want to break into it if I didn't have to but I felt it was necessary. After flipping through the 'disks', there is a huge selection of different topics that span over a large age range. A 5 year old could play this with some help but overall I would think this is more useful for a child who is fairly good at reading. There are a couple of disks that are appropriate for the younger group, like color recognition, shapes,&some puzzle-like discs but most are geared towards a 3rd or 4th grader.
I was surprised to see that the electronic game itself is extremely simple. The game flashes a group of lights that correspond with items on the bottom edge of the disk. Then the light will stop on one of the 8 spots&you are supposed to input the correct answer. You use a spinning wheel to adjust the number that you find on the main body of the disk. For example, one of the disks has flags on it. It shows the names of 8 countries along the bottom&the light stops on one, then you look to the flags&decide which one the lighted country name matches&then you input the corresponding number. The electronic game itself doesn't say anything more than a few words, it isn't specific to each disk at all, it is just the canned answers each time you answer a question right or wrong. It 'knows' what disc you are using because you input that in in the beginning, again using the spinning wheel on the left of the game but that is as far as the interaction goes - that was a bit of a disappointment.
Overall, I think my son will enjoy it but I was originally a bit put-off by the way it worked. I expected the electronic aspect to be more advanced, especially since the game is pretty expensive. I think if I would have known what I know now, I might not have ordered it. But the educational value is very high once my son can play this independently. Although it has 35 disks, they only have 8 'questions' each&so t will have a limited play-life unless I buy more of the disks that so far I cannot locate more than one set of Mathematic set (for $14 or so).
The item does work well&the disks appear to be fairly sturdy. They pack nicely in the back of the game. It would make for a great travel activity or game as it does allow for up to 2 players.
So, to summarize - works well, portable, simple concept but educational game/toy for a target age of probably 7-10. Some limits to play for the little kids&limited by the amount of available disks. I think my son will enjoy this but I wonder how many other children would play this instead of their Gameboys or Xboxes - it might just be too simple for the typical plugged-in kids??

(Stay away from this "rubik's' sodu cube imposter) 『This cube is made very cheaply. The cube does not move easily at all, and feels quite junky. If you find it for a dollar, that is still too much money. Your best bet is to find an actual Rubik's cube. Then peel off the existing stickers. At that point, clean it and replace the old stickers with Sudoku numbers (or whatever theme you prefer).
This review only pertains to the very colorful, goofy numbers version of the Rubik's style Sudoku cube. There is a black and white version of which I have no familiarity. To be safe, I would still recommend making your own from a Rubik's brand cube. Maybe even try a 4x4x4 or 5x5x5 cube for your custom made cube.

I recently started practicing Sudoku because Bridge, Pinochle, etc were not mentally challenging enough.
I read two other books who talked like a cross between a lawyer, and a mathematician. I will not give the names of those books because I am talking about THIS book.
I like this book because he gives strategies you can use such as cross hatching, virtual cross hatching, X wings, XY wings, and jelly fish, and more importantly he has a puzzle on the page right there so you can put those strategies into practice right then and there.
I do not like writing in books so I copies the puzzle and worked them on a dry erase board.
With this book I have gone from the easy puzzles up to moderate, and now I am working the easy to moderate squigly Sudoku's in just a few short weeks!

On the surface, this looks like a very capable version of computerized Sudoku, which is exactly what I was looking for. I wanted something with LOTS of puzzles, some variety in difficulty levels, the ability to print, and an intuitive GUI for playing. This version does all four of these. For that, it is to be commended - it has the features most serious players will desire.
That said, the implementation and additional features make this game a less than ideal choice.
One of the most annoying features is that it requires the CD to be in the drive when playing, and for some that is inconvenient.
More of an aggravation, though, are the sounds for the game. There is background music that serves only to be distracting. There also happens to be a voice element to announce the numbers as they are placed - the voice sounds very much like you would imagine for an anime schoolgirl that's entirely too happy for her own good. I cut the speakers for that one. With no sound, gameplay is a lot more pleasant and is acceptable.
The game allows the player to show mistakes during play. HOWEVER, once that setting is turned on, it is not possible to turn it off except when there is no game being played. For players that are learning to play, this is fine, but once a player knows the lay of the land, either the current game needs to be quit in order to toggle this setting, or it needs to be turned off at initial launch.
In the box with the CD was a bright orange card that stated that there was an update to the game available to patch a problem with printing. While I realize that this likely went in the box after the golden image was sent to the duplicator, it still is annoying to find that your brand new game is already outdated.
I looked for another Sudoku game the very next day and found a better one with more features, a better interface, and a smaller price tag. If you want a good Sudoku game for your computer, I cannot recommend Play at Joe's Sudoku Challenge unless there are no other options available. Your money is better spent on other choices.』
