(Needs Removable Steam Vent)
(Mighty Rice Cooker)
(Just as I expected - Perrrrfect!)
(Love it) This is our first rice cooker. We were never big rice eaters before. When we did eat rice it was the 5 minute microwave kind or those boxed rice side dishes. We now eat rice several times a week. I can't tell you about brown rice or other varieties, but this machine will make white rice like nobodies business.
Here's a simple recipe I made up the other night.
2 cups rice - cook in beef broth if desired 1 can of red beans drained 2 lbs ground beef - browned 5 heaping teaspoons of sofrito tomato base Salt&pepper to taste
I just purchased one of the Zojirushi ns-zcc10 five cup units, and would like to post my comments in order to help others in their buying decisions.
If I was to rate the product on just the quality of the finished rice/grains, it would rate a six out of five. Everything that has been cooked has been superb, including the steel cut oats we had this morning. The electronics/controls are very easy to use, including the timer/delayed start. The unit does NOT take an extraordinarily long amount of time to cook rice compared to the old Hitachi we had. If you add the time for the 30 minute pre-soak ( which the Zoj does automatically for best quality), normal cooking time, then the 15 minute steam/rest period, they take close to the same time. You can cut out the soak time using the 'quick' function on the menu.
Unfortunately Zojirushi seems to have dropped the ball on a couple items.
The big one is no removable steam vent assembly. I cannot believe that other reviews ( that I could find) of this product did not mention this problem/design flaw. Since the vent is fixed in the outer lid, it makes it very difficult to clean properly. There is a rubber gasket that seals it to the removable inner lid that has a lip/ledge above, that is especially problematic. I have been cleaning it with a chopstick wrapped with a damp cloth, but it should be removable to clean under running water at the sink. The manual does not suggest any way to clean the vent, and it DOES get VERY cruddy, especially using the porridge function.
The second gripe I have is the use of aluminum on the otherwise very well designed inner lid. The removable lid itself is head and shoulders above some of the others we looked at, like the Tiger and Sanyo. It pivots in two recesses at the bottom, and snaps in at the top. The outer lid will not even close/lock until the inner lid is in place. But why use aluminum that is going to be scratched, is soft and will oxidize over time? I would have paid a couple of extra bucks to have a stainless steel inner lid.
Given the excellent quality of the rice this unit makes, I would probably buy it again knowing what I know now. But Zojirushi should/could do better in this price range. We bought this over the comparable Tiger brand cooker, but others may choose differently if clean-up ease means more to them.
This was one of the best wedding gifts we got: small, incredibly useful and sturdy!
In short, it cooks rice. Any kind of rice. And will keep it warm for as long as you can imagine (the longest we've left it was 8 hours, and the rice was still perfect when it came out..). It cleans very easily, you can program it to have rice ready for any time (For instance, we often set it for 7am, put the rice and water in before we go to bed, and when its time to go to work, the rice is ready to go!) and it will play a melody as an alarm.
I highly recommend this rice cooker. If ours broke today, we'd replace it tomorrow. Zojirushi NS-ZCC10 5-1/2-Cup Neuro Fuzzy Rice Cooker and Warmer, Premium White
This unit replaces a "National" rice cooker I purchased 15 years ago. This one looks like it's younger sibling. Neuro Fuzzy logic makes cooking rice so easy. No complaints. I really like the little handles on the pot. Please read the instructions, a cup of rice, their cup is different from a standard measuring cup. If you keep it plugged in, you won't have to worry about the battery.
Al Hawaii Very easy to use. Excellent!!! It cooks rice 10times better then our old rice cooker. Cook perfect rice every time with the Neuro Fuzzy Rice Cooker&Warmer. It features advanced Neuro Fuzzy logic technology, which allows the rice cooker to 'think' for itself and make fine adjustments to temperature and heating time. The spherical inner cooking pan and heating system allows the heat to distribute evenly and cook rice perfectly. It also features different settings for cooking white rice, sushi rice, brown rice and porridge or congee. Other features include automatic keep warm, extra large LCD display, clock and timer function, detachable inner lid and stay cool side handles.

(Dogs Love These!!)
(rscpa) A great tasting treat the cockers go crazy for. As soon as I grab the bag they come a running. I bought the sweet potato snacks on a whim at Target. Our beagle LOVED them. To the person who commented that the potato gets tough, they are supposed to be that way. Raw hide bones, pig's ears, etc. are much tougher and dogs don't choke on those either. Your dog won't choke unless it is a toy breed in which case you should consult with your vet about what treats they should not have. The toughness of the snacks is actually great since they take a while to eat and our beagle doesn't scarf one down in two seconds. Also, it's nice that they don't have artificial coloring or preservatives. I'm buying them in bulk now that I see Amazon carries all the flavors! I have a little Jack Russell and a Chihuahua/Daschund mix, and they both go crazy for these. I feel good giving these treats to my dogs because they're all natural and it's good stuff they're eating. They don't last long though....they chew them up in about a minute. They also love the banana/chicken and apple/chicken. The banana ones are probably their favorite. My dog seems to really like them, but the sweet potato gets very hard. The concern is they are about and inch and half long and really do not want to have my dog swallowing something that size and hard. As canines are gulpers, I am concerned. I will stick with the chicken and apple as it is much softer. Rerations < Dogswell Veggie Life Vitality Chicken&Sweet Potato, 5-Ounce Ounce Pouches (Pack of 6) >

(Great treat for dogs with food allergies)
(A Real Find)
(Great Product!!)
(Best dog treat yet!) great product. dogs look forward to us leaving the house so they can have one. My cocker spaniels love these dog treats. They have food allergies and these don't bother them at all. Thanks. 16 Oz. Sweet Potato&Duck Wraps! My dog is allergic to all grains and, consequently, he is unable to enjoy any of the popular commercial dog treats. For years I made treats for him out of his dry food but it was a messy, smelly process. What a relief for me and a thrill for him to find dog treats he really loves. Thank you Cadet! This is the 4th time I'm buying this product for my fussy babies. They luv it and it is their daily pm treat when I come home from work. I purchased this dog treat from the breeder where I bought my puppy and I'll be the first to say it is amazing. Not only is it healthy but delcious (well, my puppy seems to think so) Using these as treats I was able to teach her to sit, shake paw, etc in 2 days. She absolutely loves them and will do anything for them. She knows exactly where I keep them in the cabinet. I cut them into small pieces so I can work with her on training and give her a big one when I want to keep her busy. I recommend these to anyone and everyone! Rerations < 16 Oz. (Needs more music.....)
(Will want to see over and over!) This video is highly recommended as Elmo gets face time for the 30 minutes and has a multitude of various, entertaining and educational topics. I have purchased this item for my granddaughter of 18 month. She loves it and watched it almost the whole day.Items purchased on Amazon are always perfect qualities and fast delivery. As a customer Iam completely stafisfied with the handeling and services. Iam most honoured to be a amazon customer, who has the biggest dvd collections in the world.
Regards H.Tjia I just wanted to thank you for your quick service. My 1-1/2 year old grand-daughter loved them both, and she would not put Elmo down. They are both now in Poland where they live. Thank you again! What kid doesn't love Elmo? I could take him or leave him but my son seems to think he's great. This video is OK but I think they could have fit more songs into it. Get rid of the pointless Whoopi Goldberg and Julia Roberts segments (my son gets scared of the Julia Roberts part for some reason)---it's Elmo trying to scare Julia and I think my son gets scared......Other than that....is this really the 'best' of Elmo? I don't know...... I had the this on VHS for my older sons. My youngest son loves it and asks for "Elma" repeatly throughout the day. I also purchased Elmo's World dvds, but he MUCH prefers this one. If you only get one Elmo dvd, make it this one! TheSesame Streetcharacter has fun singing some catchy new songs (you and your toddler just might, too), explaining the difference between light and heavy, having a laugh over pictures and numbers, and sharing the screen with a good-natured Whoopi Goldberg and Julia Roberts. Of the various Elmo videos, this one really does have the choicest material and stands up to repeat viewings--a big plus with little ones.--Tom Keogh Studio: Genius Products Inc Release Date: 04/06/2004 Run time: 30 minutes Rating: Nr Rerations < Sesame Street - The Best of Elmo >

(Elmo is ALWAYS Awesome!)
(Delightful, fun video if you like Elmo)
(Terrific for Toddlers - Very Worthwhile)
(Babies&More) I was amazed by how enthused my 10 month old is with this particular DVD. We have other elmo/sesame street, but this one in particular caught my daughters attention. Maybe because we have 2 dogs? But the babies section is adorable as well! One of the best buys for her entertainment! we LOVE LOVE LOVE this DVD! I would recommend it to anyone who wants to "try" an elmo dvd. Elmo is ALWAYS Awesome! And with small kids you can't go wrong with animals and babies! My 18 month old granddaughter has limited screen time and is not overly interested in TV but she loved this video! It is clever and fun to watch. We did not like the "cartoon" segment so much but the video is definitely worth the money and I would defintely buy it again. We received this as a gift from some friends with a slightly older toddler. My son was not allowed to watch TV or DVDs until he was about 2.5 years old, and this was one of the first he really watched and enjoyed. He is the youngest and he loves the "babies" segment, in which toddlers and young children play with babies. My son learned how to interact with babies, and grew very interested in them, from watching this DVD. I think the DVD is very well-done and exciting for small children. We have seen it repeatedly, and each time, I really appreciate the fun imagery, the music, and especially the choice of subjects that hold such great interest for small children. A very good dvd for families with more than one child. Very entertaining for young children and educational. Sesame Street's cheerful redhead chuckles his way through this delightful 50-minute compilation of three favorite "Elmo's World" episodes. First come the babies: real babies, Muppet babies, and animal babies. With help from Mister Noodle, a cast of Muppets, and video vignettes featuring humans, Elmo discovers what babies can do and how to play with them. Next come the dogs. Once again, Elmo's on the move--this time to share important tips about respecting the family pet. The final episode examines life on the farm. Viewers will observe youngsters accomplishing daily farm chores as well as Muppet farmers and barn animals punning around. As Elmo bops around his house (simply drawn and "furnished" with color crayon sketches), he chats with Dorothy the pet goldfish, poses questions to Mister Noodle, and tunes in to his friendly television for helpful cartoons presented by "The Baby Channel," "The Dog Channel," and of course, "The Farm Channel." Educational and entertaining for the younger crowd, each segment explores its topic using a variety of creative, quick-paced methods, enhanced by an upbeat soundtrack. (Calling All Engines)
(Disapointed)
(Not Enjoyed at all by my Thomas/Diesel 10 Fan!) Our son loves this DVD and the corresponding book. It is a great story about cooperation and appreciating differences. And he loves anything Thomas. My grandson loves Thomas The Tank Engine and he has enjoyed this movie very much. The seller delivers as promised and the product was in perfectly new condition. Thank you.
Awesome video! My son is a huge Thomas fan and he wants to watch this over and over. A great feature length story! We have several Thomas DVD's and older videos that are enjoyed on our house but this isn't one of them. The story is good but the narration is so monotone it is beyond boring to listen too.
Unlike many, my son and I actually did like Thomas and the Magic Railroad. Yes, there were definitely weaknesses with much of the acting, dialog, etc. but my 2yo son LOVES Diesel 10 and really enjoyed the horse and dog in the live action segments. I liked the songs and appreciated some of the puns. The pace kept moving w/o being frantic. We also have the Complete Season 1 Set(British, Ringo Starr) and my son enjoys them. Gets all excited about the Choo-Choos! My husband and I really prefer those over more recent Seasons. We have a friend with some of the "new Thomas" DVDs and we found them inferior and so generally haven't bought them. I also can't stand the new theme song.
However, we went ahead and got "Calling All Engines" specifically because of the amount of Diesel content. However, my son won't even watch it. I find the interruptions for "activities" annoying- just have them as a DVD feature, not part of the main presentation. My son watches very little TV/Movies and I think he found the CGI animation stuff bizarre. I think he also was disappointed/confused by Diesel 10 having a different way of being/speaking from Magic Railroad. The change in voice actor isn't the issue- we often watch Magic Railroad in Spanish- more the way of speaking is like a total personality change. He didn't do anything but sit there throughout the majority of the movie. And then at the end when he finally spoke, he was sort of grumpy, not comically devilish. And I get that the whole point was Steamies and Diesels working together, but there was no process for Diesel 10 to get to that point. It's like he was simply neutered. Anyway, my son as so excited for me to put this DVD on and then stopped watching within a few minutes. On sick/lazy days he will watch Magic Railroad or the Season 1 DVDs all the way through. I did let Calling All Engines play through while we did something else, and my son never went back over to it. I put it on another time and he danced to Busy, Busy, Busy and then was finished. I guess this will be a good movie to put on when my son is begging to watch a movie and I'd prefer for him to do something else. ;) From now on we will just have to stick with Old School Thomas. I think I might have to invest in a Region Free DVD player so that I can watch the UK releases of the Complete Seasons from the early years. Summertime is always beautiful on the Island of Sodor. It is a busy time for all of the engines... but when the Steam engines and Diesels can't get along, and no work is getting done, the engines are in a terrible mess! Will the new airport get ready in time? Will the bridge get built? Can the engines save the day? Rerations < Thomas&Friends: Calling All Engines! >

customer 's review (Sing (1989))
(A classic 80's movie with great music...)
(I'm stunned at the positive reviews)
(Has its moments)
(I did wear out my first video!) I saw the end of this movie when I was a kid and a brief part of the song stuck in my head. With only that to go on, I was able to track down this movie after all these years. Now I own it! Some movies just stick with you like that. If you are a fan of 80's pop music, then this is a great movie to watch. It has a classic "good girl-boy from the wrong side of the tracks" storyline. The acting is superb, but Jessica Steen (the good girl) does give a great performance as do some of the other supporting actors. The movie is interspersed with great music that culminates with great musical numbers at the end. If you are a fan classic 80's movies, then this is a must see. There is absolutely no denying that is a horribly acted piece of tripe. There are no redeeming qualities. And to whomever mentioned things like Grease&West Side Story in the same post with this movie should be throttled and committed.
Don't waste your time. Get a GOOD musical. Oklahoma, South Pacific, Paint Your Wagon, Carousel, Grease, Moulin Rouge, Phantom of the Opera, Singin' in the Rain, and the myriad of others made in the 40's, 50's, 60's and beyond.
You will never get the time back you waste with this "film". This movie is a poorly acted attempt at a musical. The only redeeming part is the ending with the different high school classes performing their end-of-the-year presentation. That, alone, is worth the money. Midwest girl here that never heard of Sing before the movie. I loved it and had to replace my copy years ago. I would love to get a copy of the Soundtrack because I thought that was as great. customer 's review (Fun and light)
(Redneck Propaganda)
(excellent custer service)
(Torn Between Two Worlds)
(Nice romantic comedy) This is definitely a light romantic comedy. Reese Witherspoon plays an up-and-coming New York fashion designer with the perfect life laid out in front of her - including the perfect boyfriend. When circumstances arise that take her back to her roots in rural Alabama, her two worlds clash and the fun begins. While there are many humorous, funny parts there are also some heartwarming/thoughtful moments as well. Reese Witherspoon is great in this lead role and Josh Lucas is perfect for the part he plays.
Not "serious" film but enjoyable -- a good, entertaining movie. This movie is pure propaganda for the "south-will-rise-again" right-wing know-nothing worldview prevalent for most of the reign of Bush II. Southerners with their down-home anti-intellectual "authenticity" are pitted against "phony elitist" northeastern liberals. The southerners come out ahead in the end when Reese's Witherspoon's character, an up-and-coming fashion designer, leaves the son of New York City's mayor to return to Alabama and the redneck husband she had been trying to divorce. Predictable, not even remotely funny, downright depressing. I know Reese Witherspoon is from Tennessee, but she's supposed to be intelligent and not exactly a Rush Limbaugh disciple. I can't imagine why she didn't see through this script in two seconds and put it in its well-deserved place in the recycling bin. They service that was given was very good and I am happy with my purchase I will in the future order again. "Home Sweet Alabama" is a combination of humor and serious drama. Melanie (Reese Witherspoon) is young woman who left her past behind to pursue her career as a clothing designer in New York. Just when she is at the top of her game and is engaged to Andrew Hemings (Patrick Depsey), the son of the mayor of New York (Candice Bergen), things start to unravel. Returning to her redneck husband she finds that he is not quite ready to finalize their divorce. Amidst all of the comedy, Melanie gradually finds herself as she tries to complete the transition from the world she was born into to the woman she has created. While watching the film one enjoys following the self realization which gradually turns Melanie into her true self.
I won't say more because I do not want to ruin it for you, but on two levels, this is a most entertaining movie. Don't miss it.
The first time I saw this one, I thought Witherspoon's character was a little too unlikable for the lead in a romantic comedy, however, after watching the movie more than once I don't feel as much that way. This is a nice movie that still has a few surprises even though you kind of get the feeling you know where things are going. The one thing this movie is lacking that usually shows up in most romantic comedies is a seriously dumb moment in which the characters look goofy and completely unbelievable. That's a plus. The movie has fun with sterotypes about the south and big cities like New York without going too far over the line. It's definitely worth buying a copy of this movie for occasions when you want to watch a nice light movie. As formulaic, utterly inoffensive romantic comedies go,Sweet Home Alabamacould be better, and could be worse. It's a variant of Julia Roberts'sSomething to Talk About, with all the same strengths and weaknesses, and Reese Witherspoon is definitely its saving grace. As an Alabama country girl turned hot New York fashion designer, Witherspoon finds the genuine emotions hidden under a blandly familiar plot, making her character's romantic indecisiveness seem not only credible but disarmingly appealing. She's just agreed to marry the Camelot-bred son (Patrick Dempsey) of New York's no-nonsense mayor (Candice Bergen), but first she has to officially divorce the husband (Josh Lucas) she left behind years earlier... only to discover that their love is stronger than ever. The rest, of course, is a foregone conclusion, but with a sharp supporting cast and a few charming moments,Sweet Home Alabamawill satisfy anyone who prefers safe, reassuring entertainment.--Jeff Shannon This delightfully entertaining romantic comedy stars Reese Witherspoon (LEGALLY BLONDE) as sophisticated Melanie Carmichael, a rising New York clothing designer who suddenly finds herself engaged to the city's most eligible bachelor. But this is no fairy tale romance for Melanie. She has skeletons in her fashion-filled closet that include Jake -- the backwoods husband she married in high school who refuses to divorce her. Determined to end their marriage and sever all ties with her past once and for all, Melanie returns to Alabama. But home starts to tug at her heartstrings, and what she thought she wanted may not be what she wants at all. Rerations < Sweet Home Alabama [VHS] >

customer 's review (Sweet November - Since I was 12 Years Old)
(Feels like the first time)
(A Vivid Memory)
(November is the Sweetest Month)
(THIS MOVIE ROCKS!) Where do I begin to tell you what a relief to see that this classic has been made available for home viewing. It was 1975 and I was 11 years old watching late night TV when a movie, I have never heard of, came on and I was immediately drawn in. Truly captivated by Anthony Newley and Sandy Dennis. I was exposed to my very first tear-jerker and to say I was touched would be a complete understatement. For years, every week I would scan through my TV Guide to find it but to no avail. This was a day when all Movies did not go to VHS after it's release. In my 20's I actually went to see Anthony Newley live in "Stop The World I Want To Get Off" (which he wrote and starred in) at a local theatre. My quest was to meet him and ask when I will see "Sweet November" again. After the show I begged to go backstage to meet him and my wishes were granted. There he was, a little man in a grey sweat suit still drying his hair with a towel. He was thrilled that I asked and responded that he had just had lunch with the writer of the movie the other day and "Sweet November's" future came up. No plans were set in stone at that time, he said. Fast forward, Anthony passed on and low and behold the rebirth of Sweet November came to life with Keanu Reeves. Unfortunately to my dismay it couldn't hold a candle to the original which will always have a special place in my heart. I am now 43 and oddly my daughter (my Angel) was born in November. Guess what I call her? Buy this movie! Rich I just thought of this and bought it instantly. If you want to draw comparisons, do so with Backstreet and Madam X but NOT the Keanu Reeves version. Much as I adore Keanu, his cannot compare to the Anthony Newley/Sandy Dennis combination that was the first Sweet November. I saw this movie when it opened in NYC (in those days to see first run movies you had to go uptown to the big theatres - local theatres would get them about a month or two later). I was 17 and remembered the last time I felt my heart break for a movie was West Side Story. I must thank Barry Eysman who wrote his review in 2002. It said beautifully everything I would like to say. My eyes filled up when I read it. I think the thing that made the original characters so appealing was they were not drop-dead gorgeous with leading man/lady good looks. They were believable. I felt as if I knew these people or at least could know them and relate to them. Since I saw this movie, every time I smell a new perfume on someone that appeals to me, I say "you smell like the main floor of Bloomingdale's". My college sweetheart, with whom I have reunited after 35 years, and I saw this unforgetable movie as a Sneak Preview in 1968. It was the most beautiful, but heart-wrenching movie I ever saw. The two of us remember crying in the car for a couple of hours after leaving the theatre. This movie shows true love never to be forgotten, with an ending that we shall remember for a lifetime. How wonderful there are reviews by customers who so much like this movie. who have also longed to see it again and who have waited for it to be available. I too love it, have remembered it vividly ever since it was first released, and think it a great thing to have it finally here.Anthony Newley and Sandy Dennis worked beautifully together. Theodore Bikel is so comforting, strong and protective. It is a tender, sad and beguiling story by Herman Raucher, every bit the equal of his"Summer of '42"and that is complimenting it indeed. A rare and heady blend of deepest emotion, of what love can do to persons, and what the terrible thrusting of the end of the world causes--the bittersweet romance, the gone away, but not in the heart ever leaving, the one special romance that aches the soul is always the finest, the most cherished. Unabashedly bigger than life, very much an old fashioned"romantic film,"filled with happiness and passion, and captivating. I've loved Anthony Newley for most of my life. Sandy Dennis is one of my favorite actresses. It needed no remake. Keneau Reeves in the Newley role? Oh, please, no. There is just this one and only classic November. It is impossible not to weep when Charlie so desperately wants Sweet November to stay, to capture the fleeting time, and to make a calander with only that month forever on it, caught in amber. Which is what this film has done. How can anyone not fall in love with a story in which Charlie names the sweater Sarah makes for him, because he loves it,"Rex"? New York has never been more captivating. Michel LeGrand's music is sublime. Fall and Thanksgiving and Sarah and Charlie and a most creatively sided box, and snow falling on the skylight. What more could a person wish for? The final magnificent song by Newley and Leslie Bricusse, sung in that electrifying Newley voice that will never be equaled, as the snow comes falling down around him on a park bench, his final goodbye, encompassing all the knowledge Sarah has given to him, for all hellos are goodbyes in disguise, breaks my heart every time I hear it. There can be no better, wiser"sentimental education." Even if Sandy Dennis did not look like my first love, I would have liked her immensely--tender, sad and trembly always it seemed, a delicate rose at the beginning of Fall, all the more lyrical for that. But November can't stay; it's why autumn is so magical. Now that both actors are so sadly gone, we have this gift of love and innocence to remember them by; a study of the kind of affection that counts, that gets into the bones, and joyous memories edged with the patina of sadness. New York in autumn has always seemed the best place in the world to me. This film has proven me right. Forever bless Anthony Newley, a giant of the musical stage, a sad sweet wise clown whose heart always seemed to be breaking; nevermore so than here. And Sandy Dennis,"mostly woman, mostly child." The heart remembers, for that way, November is never"wintry and gray". Thanks to grand films like this, we see firmly, just why. THIS IS A GREAT MOVIE! BETTER THAN THE REMAKE WITH KEANNU AND CHARLIZE! THERE AREN'T ANY GROSS LOVE SCENES AND THIS ONE IS BETTER PLAYED OUT. IT'S SUCH A SWEET ROMANTIC MOVIE. THE ONLY THING I DIDN'T LIKE THE FIRST TIME I SAW THIS WAS THE ENDING. BUT NOW I CAN WATCH IT OVER AGAIN. :) Combining peculiar whimsy with elements ofBreakfast at Tiffany's,Barefoot in the Park, andLove Story, this enjoyably nonsensical romantic comedy has built a small but loyal following since its release in 1968. LikeSomewhere in Timeon a modest scale,Sweet Novemberwas a well-kept secret among hopeless romantics until a remake in 2001 (starring Keanu Reeves and Charlize Theron) made it ripe for rediscovery. Rarely have sweet schmaltz and tear-jerking melodrama been so delicately employed, and the whole thing would be utterly ridiculous if it weren't for the delightful casting of Sandy Dennis and Anthony Newley--both at the height of their popularity, and both irresistible in their fairy-tale roles. (The costars reportedly battled off camera, which might explain their oddly energetic chemistry.)Sandy is Sara Deever, nearly 23 and hiding a secret that will eventually explain her strategy of inviting a new man to live with her--with platonic affection--for one month at a time. It's romance on an installment plan, and Charlie Blake (Newley) is Sara's catch for November--a British businessman and aspiring poet who takes up residence in Sara's quirky Brooklyn Heights apartment. He's quick to fall in love, and his devotion grows touchingly intense when Sara's secret is revealed. Some will reach for Kleenex, others will roll their eyes, butSweet November--like Sara, in all her eccentric vulnerability--has the courage of its convictions. Just when you think it's going to end predictably, it throws a curve ball that's memorably poignant.--Jeff Shannon Rerations < Sweet November [VHS] >

(Small but beautiful.) It looks substantial in the online picture, but once it arrived it seems less weighty. I can't see how it once retailed for over $250 but it may be worth the $79 price. Ordered this product for a client and know have spec'ed it for several future jobs. It is a very well made and is has a nice finish. It is just the right size for those small remodel jobs that have limited storage. Great price on a really nice train (hotel) towel rack. Looks great in my newly remodeled bathroom in my 1872 house. Well made, works as designed. Easy to install. Well packaged and delivered as promised. The unit promotes an open classy feel as opposed to other shelving and cabinetry. I had invisioned it being a bit larger, but I am pleased with the quality. Mounting was a bit tricky because of the location of the screw holes in relation to the decorative tips on the top shelf bars. But it is so pretty! Happy to have made the purchase. Polished Nickel towel shelf with robe hooks. In the Paris Hotel or Train Rack style. Perfect for your bathroom, pool area, or laundry room. Solid steel construction with Polished Nickel finish. (My children (2 and 3) love it)
(Visually overstimulating, contrived story and phonemic mistakes)
(22 Month Old Now Knows Letters And Sounds By Sight)
(A great video for teaching sounds) I rented this DVD from Netflix some years ago, knowing next to nothing about it. While the medley was incredibly annoying to me, my daughter was riveted and actually learned the sounds of all the letters in no time! She always wanted to watch it and it really got her through that particular step a child takes before learning how to read. Now my son is that age (3) and he's having particular trouble with speech and letter sounds. I have high hopes that this DVD will be just the help he needs. This DVD is not fun for parents, it's incredibly repetitive, but it's perfect for pre-schoolers. Highly recommended! The letter factory is a great dvd for my children to learn their letter sounds. Even my 2 yr old sings the song all day, and recognized some letters. (we have only watched it a few times, but I can see the affect already).
This DVD is not one of the better learning tools out there. The audio and visuals are overstimulating and distracting from the message, the story line is contrived and hard for little ones to follow and the characters pronounce the letters incorrectly in many cases.
I can see that it might be entertaining for some kids, if they are used to fast pace animation and the unfortunate jump-cut editing pervasive in children's programming. But my 2.5-year-old was bored with it and didn't want to watch it again. He enjoys story-based programs (Curious George, Little Polar Bear, etc.) and lesson-based programs (Brainy Baby ABCs), so it's not a matter of his not being able to follow along. I think it was just too much unnecessary noise and action. I was a first grade teacher before my son was born, so I have a pretty good handle on teaching letter sounds, etc. I'm all about having children learn from many different angles, so thought this video would be a great addition to our learning routine. Actually, we hadn't really done much with the alphabet when we got this (at around 20 months), so this was his first introduction to the alphabet other than singing the alphabet song and a few flash card sessions.
Much to my surprise, within a few times of viewing this video my son was able to say all his letter sounds. After around 2 months of off and on viewing, he can now say all of the letter sounds just by seeing the letter. What's more impressive is that he can do this out of order, and he is beginning to decode words using the sounds! This is something that many kindergartners are just learning.
Of course, I think my son is brilliant (lol! Doesn't every mom?) but I'm more than happy to announce that this video is extremely well done, and I don't think that my son would be as far along without it, despite my teaching background.
When you use this video (and the others in the series, which we will start in on shortly) in conjunction with flash cards, teachable moments around the home/outside the home, etc...your child will be well prepared for school.
Go leapfrog! I've bought many videos including elmo, disney, and dora. This video is by far my daughter favorite and has helped her identify letters and their sounds. A+ Tad, Leap, and Lily hop from the pages of the amazingly popular Leap Pad learning toys onto the television screen in this attention grabbing phonics program. Tad's disappointment at being unable to help his family with an important presentation at the letter factory quickly turns to excitement when he meets Professor Quigley and joins each of the letters of the alphabet in their own fun-filled classroom devoted to learning their unique sound. Tad practices karate kicks with the k's, digs the vibes with the cool cat d's drumming on the bongos, and snores peacefully with the z's while learning to recognize each letter and the sound it makes. A catchy, fun song serves as a summation of each letter's "class" and entices even the most reluctant of toddlers (and their parents) to sing each letter's sound. An interactive game follows the program and gives children a chance to practice their newfound skills of recognizing letters and their sounds. Consumers expect great educational products from LeapFrog and this DVD won't disappoint. (Ages 2 to 5)--Tami Horiuchi Teaches young children letters, letter sounds and listening skills. (Great Movie for Children)
(arf arf, arf arf arf)
(great family movie) this movie is great for all ages. its funny and the acting is great ,the dogs are wonderful Cute movie. Our son loves animal movies and this is a definite must see for kids like him. Hotel for Dogs was a great movie. My grandchildren and I watched this together and we absolutely had a ball. The kids enjoyed it very much. It was wonderful hearing their laughter at the antics going on. I highly recommend this movie! Kids love dogs. How else to explain the success of last December's Marley&Me or this nondescript comedy based on the Lois Duncan bestseller? In it, two foster kids secretly adopt a dog and when he runs away, they find him in an abandoned hotel along with a few other strays. Naturally, they decide to care for all of them and hilarity ensues. By the way, if you enjoyed the book, a sequel is coming out soon. I'll bet a sequel comes out for the movie as well. Another one to share with the kids--and the dogs will pull at your heart strings too. Made me want to run down to the pound and adopt the lot of them... Cute movie, even keeps the adults entertained. Everyone deserves a loving family, but foster kids Andi (Emma Roberts) and Bruce (Jake T. Austin) have been placed with a flaky couple who care more for their aspiring rock careers than their foster children. Even though Andi and Bruce's mischievous tendencies repeatedly get them into trouble, the siblings are essentially good kids who care deeply for one another and their secretly adopted dog Friday. After a close call with the local pound, the kids end up searching for Friday in an abandoned old hotel where they find several stray dogs seeking shelter. The kids' compassion for the homeless dogs compels them to begin caring for the strays and they soon join forces with three other local kids to take in strays from across the city. Bruce is a clever inventor whose innovative gadgets ensure top-notch care and constant entertainment for all the dogs (as well as a multitude of laughs from the audience). Unfortunately, Bruce's and Andi's devotion to the dogs eventually causes them to pass up what may be their last chance for a better foster home. When the police storm the hotel and take all the dogs to the pound, the kids make a daring attempt to rescue the dogs that will likely land them in separate group homes. Can social worker Bernie (Don Cheadle) somehow convince the authorities, and perhaps a loving family, that the children were just doing what was right?Hotel for Dogsis a funny family film based on Lois Duncan's book of the same name and is appropriate for most ages 5 and older in spite of its PG rating for mild thematic elements, language, and some crude humor.--Tami Horiuchi

(dis-ENCHANTED)
(Great for ALL ages!)
(Great movie, very funny)
(GReat concept, poor execution) The movie was awesome. My kids loved it. The only issues I had was that when the movie was playing the disc would skip, and stop all of the sudden. There are a couple of marks on the disc after looking at it closer. Other than that.
I don't really think of Adam Sandler as a polarizing creature, but the prevailing sense seems to be that you're either in his camp or you're not, either you're entertained by his low brow, mush-mouth humor, or you're not. For me, it comes and goes. I've liked stuff of his in the past, really enjoyed The Wedding Singer - Totally Awesome Edition, The Waterboy, Big Daddy, Punch-Drunk Love (Single Disc Edition) and 50 First Dates (Widescreen Special Edition). But I've also cringed at LITTLE NICKY, MR. DEEDS, ANGER MANAGEMENT and now this one, BEDTIME STORIES. I had hopes for this one.
The cool premise is what drew me in. Adam Sandler plays yet another lovable underdog loser. Here, he is Skeeter Bronson, a lowly, ill-treated maintenance man toiling at the posh high-rise Sunny Vista Nottingham Hotel, which years ago used to be his pappy's humble hotel, before all the fancy remodelings. Skeeter visits his travel-bound sister (Courtney Cox) and is talked into babysitting her little boy and girl for a week.
His sister is one of those uptight broads who doesn't own a TV and reads to her kids from books like "Rainbow Alligator Saves the Wetlands" and "The Organic Squirrel Gets A Bike Helmet." Skeeter hasn't seen these kids in four years, what with the brother-in-law harboring a hate on for him, so there's some awkwardness in the air. Sis has banned TV and video games for her kids and feeds them crappalicious health foods. As a last recourse Skeeter begins to regale the children with his own invented bedtime stories - these tailored around his hapless life experiences - only to be startled when his fairy tales take on life and begin to impact his everyday reality. This being an Adam Sandler character, thoughts on how to capitalize on this magical phenomenon soon crop up. This being a Disney flick, the movie audience feels secure in that Skeeter will soon turn a corner and become that guy who does the right thing.
There's a subplot concerning an elementary school about to be demolished to make way for a fancy mammoth hotel. What are the odds that Skeeter's sister works at that school and that the projected hotel is actually a chain extension of the Sunny Vista Nottingham Hotel? Subtle are the inner workings of a Sandler flick.
Thing is, BEDTIME STORIES is one of the more kid-friendly flicks Sandler's ever been in, so from that angle, I guess I recommend it for the tiny tots. I do think they'll laugh themselves silly and, as usual with Disney, there are good family values to pick up on. However, the more sophisticated kids may turn their nose up at Sandler's predictable sense of humor - or not. It all depends on if you like potty jokes, dwarves kicking you in the shin or snot monsters slobbering all over you. Sandler is more restrained and does tone down the raunchy stuff, to merit that PG rating. And who would've thunk that I'd feel sorry for a defanged Sandler? And I guess, with the trend nowadays of injecting that hip, contemporary wink within all these fairy tale comedies, the film had to follow suit. But, unlike in Enchanted (Widescreen Edition), the SHREK flicks, and even Ella Enchanted (Widescreen Edition), the modern-day twists in the CG-heavy fairy tale sequences feel forced and unfunny, with Sandler's laziness stampeding over the film's few grace notes. And I couldn't help but feel that the guinea pig with the disturbingly huge saucer eyes was put in mostly as a running go-to gag, so that, if the kids aren't laughing - well, hey, kids, look at the funny-looking guinea pig!
Keri Russell comes in as Skeeter's co-baby-sitter and projected love interest, although there isn't much spark between the two actors. Following a certain romantic cliche, Sandler and Russell's characters are almost instantly at each other's throats and for much of the film engage in antagonistic banter, leaving me feeling lukewarm. Guy Pearce is over-the-top as the prissy, conniving hotel manager, although he does get a thumbs up for that one song and dance routine. Old Xena Warrior Princess herself, Lucy Lawless, is unrecognizable and wasted as the snooty assistant who hangs her star to Pearce's manager. Jonathan Pryce plays Skeeter's dad and Pryce is instrumental in nicely setting up the story, but then he disappears once Sandler comes into the picture. Courtney Cox is also wasted and not much in the film.
Also helping to sink the movie is that the fairy tale sequences come off as dull. There's a lack of wit and charm, and, after a while, a mind-numbing repetitiveness as we see the cast time and again play characters in Skeeter's self-absorbed fairy tale dramas. There's a scene early on in which Skeeter's cool dad states, "Your fun is only limited by your imagination." If only the screenplay writers had heeded their own advice. As it is, when I hear another line in the movie, this time coming from Sandler - "I'm like the stink on your feet -- I'll always be there." - I can't help but feel vaguely threatened.
On one hand, I liked Skeeter's ringtone, and I like that the flighty Paris Hilton type actually turns out to be an okay character. On the other hand, Rob Schneider makes his token appearance, and he's never been more unwelcome.
Maybe I've been too hard on INKHEART. I bought this movie for myself (52 years young) and enjoyed it immensely. BUT I felt guilty afterwards for keeping it to myself so mailed it to my grandkids. They loved it equally as well. What a wonderful movie. I never thought I would let my young children watch an Adam Sandler film, but when this came out, it looked really funny, and okay for my kids. My wife and I previewed it and it was fine for the kids. The kids watched it, and watched it.....and watched it. They are 4 and 5.5. They belly laughed (and so did my wife and I). There is nothing really that bad here and I thought the entire film was fun (a bit silly, but I like that, and it's perfect). My only disappointment is that I cannot find Adam Sandlers ringtone (wait until you hear it, it's hysterical). There are enough double entendres that adults as well as children will enjoy it. Also, this is a great transfer. If you like silly fantasy and good comedy, this is for you. If you are not a fan of silly fantasy, you will probably still like this enough to rate it 4 stars. If you have no sense of humor, then rent it first. ;-) I was looking forward to watching this movie as was my kid. I mean it had a great storyline, and the trailers looked good, but thats about it for the good stuff. I thought the character Sandler played was a boorish, rude and lazy person. I don't see where it is funny for him to shut the door in a womans face (twice) when she is being nice to him and talking to him. Yeah, let's teach our little boys to be rude. Sandler has to take care of his sister's kids for a few days and he do so in a careless manner and expects others to pick up his slack. He wasn't the type of character that you rooted for and had hope for. Of course, the movie writers make the pretty girl fall for him even though he has been nothing but rude to her. Ugh, disgusting. Yes, I realize it is a movie, but when the main character isn't endearing or funny, it isn't a fun movie to watch. The kids and supporting actresses were fine, so that was the only glimmer of light in the movie. What a waste of a potential good story. And Mr. Sandler, please learn what makes good humor, rudeness doesn't. A FAMILY COMEDY ABOUT A HOTEL HANDYMAN WHOSE LIFE CHANGES WHEN THE LAVISH BEDTIME STORIES HE TELLS HIS NIECE AND NEPHEW START TO MAGICALLY COME TRUE. A fantastical tale about a man who makes up bedtime stories for his niece and nephew only to find that they magically come true the next day,Bedtime Storiesis a funny and enjoyable film about finding happiness in unexpected places. Skeeter (Adam Sandler) grew up with his sister Wendy (Courteney Cox) in a small hotel run by his father Marty (Jonathan Pryce) which was eventually sold to Barry Nottingham (Richard Griffiths) with the caveat that Skeeter would someday assume a leadership role in the business. Expansion transformed the small hotel into the luxury Nottingham Hotel, but Skeeter is just a handyman with little hope of advancement. When his sister needs to leave the state for a job interview, Skeeter ends up sharing the responsibility of watching her two elementary-age children Bobbi (Laura Ann Kessling) and Patrick (Jonathan Morgan Heit), whom he hasn't seen for years, with Wendy's friend Jill (Keri Russell). Initially an awkward situation, Skeeter and the kids bond over bedtime stories which Skeeter and the children make up. When events in the story start coming true, Skeeter tries to spin the stories to benefit his life, but events take some unexpected turns thanks to the kids' wild imaginations and some strange translations between fiction and reality. New relationships flourish and in the end, Skeeter, Wendy, Mr. Nottingham, Bobbi, Patrick, and Jill each find happiness in a most unexpected place and discover what's really important in their own life. Also worth mentioning is the character Bugsy, a guinea pig with enormous eyes that's sure to have every child begging for their own pet guinea pig. Rated PG for mild rude humor and mild language, but appropriate for most ages 6 and older.--Tami Horiuchi Rerations < Bedtime Stories >

customer 's review (It's alright, but there are a few problems)
(Lightweight mask)
(dark and fairly comfortable)
(Pleasant dreams)
(P.O.S.) The biggest problem I have is with the strap. The strap is fairly wide and comes straight back from the vertical middle of the mask which is where the eyes are. Now think about the human head. What's in a straight line back from your eyes? Yes, the strap cuts right across the top of your ears. If I move the strap up the back of my head, it tends to pull the rest of the mask up with it, thus letting light in the bottom. Also the strap is made of stretchy material but it's a little "sharp" on the bottom edge so it can actually be painful on the top of my ears (I semi-solved this by wrapping the strap with Charmin Toilet paper on either side above the ears).
I also find that when I lay on my side as I tend to do, it pushes up the other way due to contact with the pillow and lets in a sliver of light around my eyes.
And to wrap it up, I typically wake up to find it pushed up onto my forehead. This is possibly just due to the way I sleep, but it kinda negates the benefits of wearing the mask. I've written reviews on many of these masks (read all my reviews to find them.) This one is good if you want something small and lightweight. It doesn't do a good job of sealing out light, however. I improved mine by making a scissors cut halfway up the nose. This allowed the mask to separate a little and settle down onto my face, blocking out more light.
Incidentally, the 'Sweet Dreams' and 'Lights Out' masks are the same. Pick the cheaper of the two. My only complaint is that the two pieces of velcro come together right in the back. So when you're wearing it and rest your head on the airplane seat, it feels like a button on the back of your head. Not a big deal if you turn your head to the side to sleep. Other than that, it's comfortable and dark. It's more comfortable than I thought, not much pressure on the forehead at all, and none on the eyes, but it works really well to keep out unwanted light. This does not block at all light. For example, when I was actually asleep this morning, and someone turned on the light, and I f***ing WOKE UP. Good job!
I already knew this so I ordered a "pretty in pink" sleep mask. It's the most flamboyant feaking mask ever but it will actually block out everything, I've used them before. Light as a feather, slim-line and very stylish, the Sweet Dreams Sleep and Relaxation Mask is a molded contoured sleep aid that offers full comfort without any pressure to the eyes. Mask features concave eye pockets to keep the sleep mask away from your eyes and allow for normal blinking and air circulation. Conveniently folds up into a complimentary 4 x 6 satin drawstring pouch with a pair of soft foam Earplugs. Mask Construction: Molded soft foam, surrounded by a polyester interlock fabric. Mask fastens with an adjustable velcro strap Care: Hand wash in cool water. Lay flat to dry. Rerations < Sweet Dreams Contoured Sleep Mask with Earplugs and Travel Pouch - Black >

(Hurrah! Truth in advertising at last--- it works!) Okay, let me start off by saying that my hair extremely dry, brittle and weak. From years of relaxing and over-processing it with color treatments and relaxers, my hair had grown rough and unmanageable. Even when I would wash it with "good" shampoo and conditioner my hair would feel very rough after rinse out. Especially considering I had colored my hair black about a week earlier. After my first time using Wen, I noticed a BIG difference, it was great! My hair was straighter, less frizzy, a little more volume and it actually moved *shock*! It also had this radiant shine that I don't think I've EVER seen before which is a huge plus.
With each wash, I'm noticing that my hair is getting better with time.I did exactly what the instructions said, except I use a shower/plastic cap after application (30+ pumps) and leave it on for at least 10 minutes or more. After I rinse it out completely, I'll add a few more pumps to my hair then massage and re-rinse (kind of like a rinse out conditioner). From there, I blow dry then curl with a Conair instant heat curling iron and apply oil sheen. I then brush and wrap my hair (and if it's night time I'll apply a silk scarf).
I don't use Wen as a leave in conditioner anymore because it might be a little much for my hair. If your hair gets easily "over-moist" or oily, you may want to switch shampoos between using Wen every now and then. After my third wash, my hair is AMAZING. It's so shiny, vibrant and silky that I'm thinking of getting a years supply. Considering what the conditioner has done, I can't wait to see how the Wen Hydrating Mask does. If you are thinking about using it, try it! Even if you get the smallest size available see what this great conditioner can do for you and you hair. This product is NOT for ethnic hair. I bought this for my 5 year old daughter's hair. It was the worst EVER!!!! While I am shampooing her hair, it feels silky, but after I rinsed it out...felt like solid wood...harsh, brass, and very stiff! I was so disappointed. I had to wash it several times after that experience, before it came back to life. I love it!!! I reccommend this to all my friends because is natural and free of chemicals.
I was a skeptic--I ordered it and after reading the many reviews tried it. I started with 8 pumps, I have shoulder length thick hair, and realized that my hair was "squeeky" clean without lather. I have now used it for 1 month and love it. My hair is shiny and healthy and I think is growing faster (no breakage?). I can even skip a day and just wet my hair down and style and it still looks and feels clean. The only down side is the amount required to use--I travel on business frequently and could never "carry on" my bags with all my toiletry items 3 oz or less. It is okay because I always check my bag due to size but it would not be possible to take it in a carry on. I just re-ordered from Amazon I had despaired of every ridding myself of the halo of wiry frizz... my hair is very thick&coarse (think horse mane!)as well as color treated; I could never get results until this product. I actually can't wait to redo it after returning from the hairdressers, where they use conventional shampoo. Another plus is that it definitely helps keep my color more vibrant (vs. shampoo). I do have to use quite a bit to get it saturated, but it really really works. I am down to using just this product and am so happy with it I can't see myself changing any time in the future. Sweet Almond Mint is the perfect balance of nourishing herbs and natural ingredients designed to hydrate and replenish hair that has been damaged due to shampoo and other harsh elements. May be used as often as necessary, it thoroughly cleanses hair and scalp without stripping them of their natural oils, providing it with added moisture, strength and sheen. www.chazdean.com Rerations < WEN Sweet Almond Mint Cleansing Conditioner - 16 oz >

(It Works!)
(Hasn't worked yet.)
(This product really works... your doctor is NOT always right!)
(Threelac really helps fight the Candida) Threelac is a life saver. I have had a bedsore on my buttcheek for many years. Nothing worked. But after taking threelac for three months, my sore healed up nicely. I started out taking Threelac for allergy and immune system. Little did i know that it also help my swollen joints and my nagging bedsore. I have tried EVERYTHING for intestinal candidiasis, and this is the only product that has actually produced results. I've been taking two packets a day for a month...I don't feel any different, and I still have that "yeasty" smell, although it doesn't seem to be as noticeable. With all of the medical expertise and prescriptions in this country, it's amazing that the only product that has made a difference for my wife is Threelac. Since she started using Threelac, she has gone from being physically miserable, basically bed-ridden and living on a diet of water, unseasoned chicken and steamed vegetables to living a relatively normal life. For months, she saw several different doctors and specialists and made two late night trips to the emergency room. Everybody had a different opinion of what was wrong and all the medicines they prescribed either simply masked her symptoms or made her even sicker. She finally diagnosed her own problem - a systemic yeast infection - and Threelac is the only product that has helped. Once you've identified Candida Albicans as the monster that is ruining your sinuses, you must monitor your environment to eliminate mold, and watch your diet carefully to avoid ALL yeast and fermented products. This is the road to recovery, but adding Threelac to your regimen daily really speeds up the healing process. I went from chronic debilitating sinus illness, punctuated with horrendous painful episodes of being unable to breathe, to a somewhat normal state of health in under two weeks with Threelac. Threelac seems to work with your immune system to overcome the Candida and helps your body resist the effects of environmental pollutants. Use Threelac and say goodbye to nasal inhailers, antihistamines, antibiotics. It's natural and it's safe. This dietary supplement contains live lactic acid bacteria. Three types of live microorganisms support your healthy life. Living, life-filled lactic bacteria support your daily health and beauty. Threelac is a lemon-flavored, nutritional food supplement composed of three live bacteria: bacillus coagulans, bacillus subtilis and enterococcus faecalis. Additionally, Threelac contains fiber, yeast (as food for the bacteria), and vitamins, all added to support your daily health and wellness needs.Threelac is recommended not only for the maintenance of your daily health, but also to help address the digestion of those whose normal meals tend to be irregular and off-balance. (These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.) Threelac is manufactured in Japan. customer 's review (The right one)
(Great Buy!)
(WOW!! Lightweight! great screen size and keypad...)
(A Superb Daily Driver)
(Great mini laptop/netbook for the money!) I love this product. I'm using it right now to write this review. It has some great features like multi-touch touchpad, built-in bluetooh connectivity, 6 cell battery, perfect screen size and it is light enough to take everywhere. My unit came with a small problem in the left button of the touchpad: the buttons are made of aluminum and it seems that the button is a little "curved" which makes it "clickable" only in part of it. It's no big deal, since I don't use it. I just use the touchpad itself to perform actions - right click, left click, scrolling, zooming, navigate back and forward in webpages and other actions. When I'd placed my order there was no picture of the product (now there is one) and when it arrived I got surprised by the "Sweet Pea Green" color. It's brighter than I expected which makes it look a bit like a toy. Now I'm used to it. I even like the color, but my next one will be black or blue. If you are not sure about the color I can tell you that it is very similar to the picture. I had looked around and done a lot of research before settling on this netbook, and I've been nothing but pleased after a month with the unit. I regularly get 5.5 hours of battery life, the keyboard took almost no time to get used to, and it runs plenty fast for all of my needs.
Excellent product! Okay, so first let me state that the only difference between this netbook and the 1000HA is bluetooth(not all that important)and the wireless-n connectivity. FYI wireless-n is supposed to be new wireless technology with greater range and faster connection speeds. I haven't hooked up to an -n router yet so i cant really comment on its effectiveness. The 1000HA is about $100 cheaper so you can make the decision for yourself. I'm sure there is a usb converter out there somewhere. So now lets talk about performance. I basically purchased this netbook because i will be backpacking in Thailand for about 20 days and also sometimes i get bored at work. The weight and size of the keyboard and screen are perfect. Downloaded and played back movies with ease. Also this is one of the few netbooks that is upgradeable. I easily just popped out 2 screws, and there's the harddrive and RAM slot. Pulled out the 1G and installed 2G RAM. I can say that this lil thing is fast; I can have a movie downloading, have one playin, surf the net, all without problem. Tiny fan doesn't make a sound. It can run a lil warm, but i wouldn't say hot. The black carrying case it comes with is very handy as you can also use it between your lap and the machine. The 7hrs. of battery life is really more like 5 1/2 hrs. Mousepad is fully customizable so you never really need to use the "stiff" buttons that everyone keeps whining about. 2 finger scrolling, 3 finger right-click, adjustable drag&drop settings, etc. The thing i like most about this machine is that it feels sturdy and well-made, not cheap and flimsy. Amazon user comments were very helpful and i got my machine much faster than expected via FedEX. I can't recommend this machine highly enough. Thanks Amazon!! EDIT 1/19/2008: The first unit I bought had a faulty hard drive and kept bluescreening and rebooting itself. Fortunately the retailer I purchased it from has a "no hassles" return policy so I was able to swap it.
---------------------- In this review I'll provide a summary and then I'll list the pros and cons of the eee PC 1000HD.
First of all I'd like to say that this is a delightful little daily use laptop. I got it earlier today. For the price, it's fast and stable. Its build quality is surprisingly good and the casing is stylish and aesthetically appealing. The battery life exceeds expectations for a sub-$500 laptop.
Just to get this out of the way up front, the keyboard is rubbish. It's utter trash. Although the letter keys are larger than those of earlier models, the layout, the missed keystrokes and the awful key bounce makes typing on this netbook a chore.
Pros:
* The screen is very bright and high contrast with not a trace of flicker. * The stereo speakers are decent, sufficient for casual listening. * The large, wide multitouch trackpad allows access to all areas of the screen without having to lift and reposition your fingers. * The battery life is superb at this price point (between 3 hours 45 minutes and 5 hours - be careful though and read the box carefully, some versions of this model have a 3 cell battery, some have 4 and some have 5 - don't depend on product literature because some stores will advertise a 6 cell battery but it actually says 4 on the box). * No built in crappy webcam (a webcam is an accessory, don't buy a laptop because it has one; it's probably going to be crap and it'll just take up extra system resources). * The product is small and light but has a decently sized screen. * Boot time is surprisingly short (which is good since you'll be rebooting Windows at least twice a month after Windows Update, whether you like it or not). * The product is very easy to setup, just snap in the battery, plug in the power chord and press the power button. * Build quality is superb. All components fit together well with no visible gaps or deformities. * There's plenty of storage onboard for all your files and documents so no need to carry an extra hard drive or thumb drive with you. * Applications load and react to input quickly. * This model is MUCH faster and more stable than the SURF models. Its speed and stability is surprising. * The video quality is SUPERB. It's the only laptop-type device I've ever used that can play full motion video over Remote Desktop. I use it to watch the TV card on my computer upstairs while I'm downstairs in the front room so I can watch two shows at once. :) * Sound quality is superb. The manual is correct in that plugging in a set of headphones or external speakers improves quality greatly. The internal speakers are okay but plugging in a nice set of headphones adds a lot to the experience. The onboard amp can drive my ULTRASONE PROline 550 S-Logic Surround Sound Professional Headphones nicely without the need for a headphone amp. * The microphone is excellent. I enjoy using Skype to make phone calls on this netbook. The acoustic echo canceling allows you to use the built-in stereo beam mic for audio and video conferencing and the snappy video performance ties the experience together nicely. I use Skype's auto redial feature so that I don't have to manually redial the phone over and over for hours to get through to the Oregon Department of Unemployment Assistance. * The beefy 120GB hard drive gives you room to grow. The hard drive comes partitioned into two drive letters, ostensibly so that you'll never run out of room for system updates on the system partition, however being a mature adult I used Norton PartitionMagic to merge the two partitions into one drive letter.
Cons:
* This is more about eee PC's in general: The model numbers are very confusing. Do I want the 1000A? Or perhaps the 1000H? Maybe the 1000HD? There doesn't seem to be any comprehensive list that compares the features and helps you to select the model you want/need, and most stores only carry two or three models out of the line. * The non-standard keyboard layout has me hunting and pecking a lot even though I usually type upward of 50 WPM. * There's noticeable key bounce so I have to use backspace a lot due to repeated characters. I counted that while writing this review I had to backspace repeated characters 27 times. * The right side shift key is the same size as the arrow keys and it's situated to the northeast of the arrow keys, so often I find myself hitting the up arrow key when I wanted to hit the shift key. * There's a dedicated "Prt Sc / SysRq" key but you have to use the Fn key to get Home and End key functionality. WTF? Seriously who uses "Prt Sc / SysRq" more than Home and End? * There are only four dedicated hardware buttons even though the strip they're on could easily accommodate eight more. The rest of the functions without dedicated keys (brightness, volume, etc) require you to use Fn + a number key. * If you're a palm leaner you'll find the "Intel Inside" and "Designed for Microsoft Windows XP" badges haphazardly slapped onto the lower-left of the deck scrape against your palm frequently. Pull them off and throw them away or stick them on the bottom of the base. * The status LEDs on the right side of the deck are excessively bright to the point that it's like having four little flashlights shined into your eyes. Put some electrical tape or other dark adhesive material over them. I used some leftover material from the decal I stuck on the lid to cover up the LEDs and to cover the eee pc logo on the lid. * The AC power adapter connector is flush with the bottom of the deck so placing the product on any soft surface such as a couch or your lap places undue stress on the connector, which I am sure will result in a loose/broken connector sometime in the future. I probably shouldn't complain about this since the manual says not to put the device on any soft surface, anyway. * The product runs too hot to be left comfortably against skin, so don't plan on having this device on your lap while you're watching TV unless you're used to playing the "balance the hot Intel processor based laptop" game. * The print on the keys is somewhat dim. Brighter lettering would help offset the garbage keyboard layout. * The left and right mouse buttons require too much pressure to actuate. * The display is much wider than it is tall, so while you can fit a whole web page on the screen horizontally, there's not much content room left vertically after the browser's toolbars and status bar, so it's a bit like browsing the web by looking at it through a slot. Some application windows don't fit on the screen and the "quick switch" button for resolution doesn't offer a high enough resolution to see the whole window, so you'll find yourself opening up the screen settings control panel and manually setting the resolution, awkwardly scrolling around the "virtual desktop" to access the window controls, then setting the resolution back to fit the screen. * The wireless adapter defaults to disabled in the BIOS settings after the BIOS is upgraded, so most users will assume after upgrading the BIOS that the wireless adapter just doesn't work anymore. To turn it back on you have to hit F1 at power on and enable it in the BIOS menu. * Lots of extra Microsoft garbage installed (Windows Live Messenger, MSN Toolbar, etc etc) takes a long time to uninstall. I can't imagine myself ever needing Microsoft SQL Server. * The netbook gets so hot it can burn your skin. The manual warns you not to let it come in contact with skin because it can burn you. Wow, that seems a bit like having a television that you can't look at because it will burn your retinas. I wish I were exaggerating but I've had to stop using the keyboard and let it cool down because it was hurting my fingers. Switching to "battery save" mode seems to help some and doesn't affect performance noticeably. I compared several netbooks before choosing this one. The Asus 1000HD which has the intel celeron, runs much hotter than this 1000H with the atom processor, based on my use of both for a week. This one has the webcam and bluetooth as well, where the 1000HD does not. I would suggest getting a wireless mouse b/c the mousepad is rather stiff. If you are just websurfing and using iTunes, you do not need more RAM. The keyboard size is fine for me, but might be a little too small for someone with big hands. Once you get used to the blue coded function keys, (home, pg up/down etc.) it's a breeze. The location of the right shift key is odd. For some reason Amazon had this listed at 6 pounds, but it's only 3.2. Mine came with a black carrying case, which I was not expecting. Amazon is the only site I found with the 1000H in colors. Bestbuy only had black. I like the white and the green for not showing fingerprints and dust. The 10" screen is plenty for most webpages. I love this for the size and weight, and highly recommend it. This Eee PC 1000H offers even more options to users for unique user experiences. Featuring up to 7 hours of battery life, high speed 802.11n connectivity and exclusive Eee Storage makes it the ideal traveling companion for outdoor activities. The large 10" display provides comfortable viewing, and a large keyboard makes for easier typing and relaxing usage. It is also available in 6 custom colored designs to fit your unique personality. customer 's review (Awesome bag)
(Keen Alameda 15" Bag) I ordered this for my husband, who was using a laptop for the first time. I did a lot of research, and am happy to say that it payed off. I have used it, too. He has a 15'' Macbook and it fits perfectly. The most important feature that this bag has (that others are missing) is the handle on top. It is great for getting in and out of the car, easily. It is also a great looking bag, and doesn't have that "briefcase" look. Is has the right amount of pockets inside for storing and separating. I highly recommend this bag. I purchased the Keen Alameda Bag as a gift. The recipient was extremely happy with the quality of workmanship. It is made to hold heavy loads with lots of places for items that an office worker needs to carry in addition to a laptop, paper and books. This horizontal bag with a protective vulcanized rubber bottom carries all you need for a trip to the local coffee shop or office. This hybrid bag uses recycled aluminum buckles and zipper and carries your laptop in a removable computer sleeve. It also contains a zippered CD pocket and letter size slash pocket for sleek organization. Rerations < Keen Alameda 15" Laptop Messenger (Limited Time Offer) (Bronze Green/Iguana/Sweet Pea) >

(Perfect for cooks and libraries seeking desserts with an exotic twist)
(Incredible book) An amazing book. My husband and I loved it so much we bought another copy for my mother-in-law. worht every penny The title of my review really says it all. Iuzzini showcases his awesome skill in this book, and the excellent photography backs it up. I just wish he had found a different way to make the chocolate spaetzle, because honestly, it looks like fat, black crispy chow mein noodles, and I think that visual should be enough for you.
He has tons of exceptional ideas, and executes them with the skill of a true master. Everything looks and sounds delicious, and each recipe is unique. I only wish I had thought of them myself!
It should be noted, however, that the recipes in this book are not for someone who is looking to cook for the first time. Some of the techniques are advanced, use ingredients that you certainly aren't going to find in your local grocery store, and several recipes have multiple parts gone over elsewhere in the book. Luckily for the layman, he offers several simple replacements for a good number of ingredients in several of the recipes.
If none of that phases you, then get this book. You will not regret it. this guy knows what hes doing and this book teaches u all the great tips. DESSERT FOURPLAY: SWEET QUARTETS FROM A FOUR-STAR PASTRY CHEF comes from an executive pastry chef in a celebrated restaurant and offers some unusual pairings of sweet with spicy, and innovative ingredients. Not for the traditionalist, DESSERT FOURPLAY features such unusual blends as Cream Cheese Ice Cream with a Papaya-Lime Compote, Chocolate-Pear Cake, Chocolate-Olive Panini with Balsamic Vinaigrette, and more. Perfect for cooks and libraries seeking desserts with an exotic twist, with influences from around the world and color photos to support them.
This book is packed with mouthwatering recipes and the presentation is stunning. This book will be my inspiration for a long time. The text is clearly written and instructions are easy to follow. I want my cookbooks to be challenging with great rewards. Highly recommended. Consider the strawberry: its familiar flavor and texture; its fresh, sweet smell. Now imagine the same fruit distilled and carbonated for a refreshing soda, slow-roasted for a reinvented strawberry shortcake, made into a creamy strawberry ice cream and a chewy strawberry leather, and combined with coconut cream and crisp chocolate pastry. Alone, each dessert is a taste of paradise, but together this fourplay, or tasting, created by Johnny Iuzzini, superstar pastry chef of the celebrated four-star restaurant Jean Georges in New York, is a sophisticated explosion of a familiar flavor that begins with the taste of strawberry rich on your tongue and ends with an effervescent tingle in your nose.Far from the conventional slice of cake at the end of a meal, Johnnys seasonal creations - four mini desserts in a quartet of complementary flavors and textures - are a culinary adventure. In Dessert FourPlay, he shares his secrets and inspirations, delivering standout recipes for incredible desserts that can be served alone or combined into his signature fourplay groupings, creating the perfect sweet finale for any meal. With the home cook in mind, Johnny offers tips on simplifying professional recipes and provides basic recipes for transcendent cakes, cookies, tuiles, ice creams, sorbets, granit?s, and more. These building blocks can be used to create magnificent multifaceted desserts, or they can be perfect desserts by themselves. Some recipes have surprising versatility: the shiny smooth chocolate glaze Johnny uses to ice cakes doubles as the ultimate hot fudge sauce; a lemony madeleine batter becomes a layer in a cake.Iuzzini pairs cool with hot, crispy with creamy, sweet with spicy, and the expected - chocolate, strawberries, and cinnamon - with the unexpected - chiles, beets, and chocolatey puffs. The result: desserts that refresh, inspire, and satisfy beyond expectations. (Could be better)
(It's a cookbook.)
(my favorite cookbook!)
(disappointed) This book was awesome. It was a birthday present and was very well received. It was in great condition and got here before the birthday. Will use them again, I love Paula Deen, and I love to bake. I am also pretty good at it. Most of the recipes are very tempting, but I do not like to use cake mixes and other pre-packaged food in my baking. I expected better from her.
Also, I have made 2 things so far. The orange brownies, and the pumpkin squares. While the brownies were very tasty, the baking time was way off, and the glaze is very thick - way too thick to pour, as she directs in the recipe. It's a very simple recipe, and I am sure that it was a mistake in the instructions.
The pumpkin cake was very good, but that was because of the icing. The cake itself was bland and tasteless, and crying out for additional spice and butter instead of corn oil. I belive that a cake needs to stand on its own, and the icing just enhances it.
That said, I'll still use the book, but I am aware that I will have to make a lot of adjustments. So it's a cookbook, along with many others. It does have easily found common ingredients and the recipes are fairly easy to follow. Not a bad buy. This is the first of Paula Deen's cookbooks I have owned, and wow! Recipes are so easy, and most ingredients are already in my pantry (really amazing for me!!) Tonight I made her gooey butter cakes, and what a hit! So far, haven't found a recipe we haven't liked! I love cookbooks, but normally only find a couple recipes I actually like in the entire book. Not this one!! My favorite!!! I was very disappointed by this book. There were very few photos (16 pages of photos for 120+ recipes). I expected higher class recipes from a restaurant (less use of canned Pillsbury biscuits, brownie and cake mixes, jarred ice cream topping, frozen whipped topping, and saltines). And way too many recipes call for coconut (with no note of possible substitutions or omissions).
I bought this book for my mom. I hope she likes it more than I did. Warmly effusive and dear yet gritty, Paula H. Deen seems mythically Southern. But this cooking luminary, proprietor of Savannah, Georgia's Lady&Sons restaurant, is the real thing. The Lady&Sons Just Desserts, her all-sweets follow-up toThe Lady&Sons Savannah Country CookbookandThe Lady&Sons, Too!, celebrates the Southern sweet tooth with 120 recipes, including traditional formulas for the likes of Brown Sugar Pound Cake and Lemon Chess Pie as well as best-loved restaurant innovations like Turtle Cake, Lemon Curd Pudding, and Gooey Butter Cake. ("These are very, very rich," Deen advises, "and a little goes a long way--even for piggies like me!") Lovers of the restaurant--which grew to prominence from $200 and lots of determination--as well as those seeking easy-to-fix temptations should put this book to happy use.Among its wide-ranging recipes,Dessertsoffers Carolyn's Jell-O Cheesecake, Lauren's Chocolate Drizzle Pie, and Hidden Mint Cookies--recipes based on cake mixes and other convenience foods. These creditable sweets are of course work saving, but are perhaps better viewed as solidly characteristic of their time and place. Equally particular are candies like Mamma's Divinity and Uncle Bubba's Benne Candy, and "other sweet things," as Deen dubs them, such as Banana Split Brownie Pizza, Easy Homemade Oreo Ice Cream, and Fresh Apples with Butterscotch Dip. With asides by Deen family members, including son Jamie's "Food Is Love" ("I am right this minute 20 pounds over-loved," he writes), useful tips (Deen provides an "emergency" recipe for sweetened condensed milk), and plenty of piquant anecdote (after Deen had rattled on endlessly to her grandmother about her intention to open a restaurant, the older woman paused and replied, "Paula, have you lost you damned mind?"), the spiral-bound book is not only full of delectable eating, it's lots of fun.--Arthur Boehm As Paula Deen will tell y'all, there's just no satisfying way to finish a delicious meal without a scrumptious, mouthwatering dessert! In this beautiful hardcover edition ofThe Lady&Sons Just Desserts,Paula -- author, restaurateur, and Food Network star -- devotes her trademark southern charm to a tempting collection of more than 120 delightful recipes, guaranteed to indulge any sweet tooth. Whether you're baking for the holidays or an after-dinner treat, there are crowd-pleasers here for any occasion. These are the classic down-home recipes that have made Paula beloved to her fans everywhere, from her signature Gooey Butter Cake and Key Lime Grits Pie to Pecan Shortbread Bars, Hidden Mint Cookies, and Iron Skillet Brownies. Whether you're whipping up an Old South Jelly Roll Cake for a weekday treat or baking the Apple Butter Pumpkin Pie or Christmas Nut Pie for a holiday celebration, these treats are as easy to create as they are to enjoy. The Basic 1-2-3-4 Cake -- in coconut (Jamie's favorite), caramel (Bobby's favorite), or chocolate -- makes a wonderful birthday surprise, and the Tennessee Banana-Black Walnut Cake with Caramel Frosting is a southern favorite sure to become one of yours as well. There is also a wide array of cookies, bars, and candy, including Savannah Cheesecake Cookies, Orange Brownies, Chocolate Brickle, and Creamy Caramels. Even the most time-pressed cook will find it a snap to create these from-scratch recipes, using Paula's tips for reliable convenience ingredients and time-tested shortcuts that will impress and delight family and friends. Filled with warm baking memories and family stories,The Lady&Sons Just Dessertsis already a kitchen classic. There are also helpful baking tips for measuring ingredients, storing leftovers, and even cutting a few calories, as well as tasty flavor variations and unique serving suggestions throughout. So bring the folks together to create your own memorable meals and occasions and remember to save room for dessert! (stunning)
(Very pretty indeed)
(Be Inspired)
(Artistic) This book is the best one I've ever seen of this type of publication. The pictures of these glorious cakes and petit fours are fabulous and you feel inspired just by viewing. I can't wait to attempt some of the featured desserts. I'm delighted by this book and so is everyone else who sees it. A great purchase! Wow what an inspirational book - so pretty, girlie and divine. I already have had success with one of the recipes. Beautiful ideas here. Has some nice designs that would work for a variety of events. She organizes her books in sections, cookies, minicakes, and large cakes. Her ideas are very fresh and pretty and also within reach for most people with a little experience decorating cookies and cakes. There are even a few designs that are more masculine, which can be hard to find. This book is small, but mighty! It is amazingly simplistic yet provides a wealth of inspiration for you creative ideas. The photography is breathtakking.
I think that with practice you can master the cookies, marzipan, gumpaste and fondant decorations in this book. Piping royal icing flowers is a bit more daunting. I would suggest a class or video for royal and butter cream icing flowers, Wilton How to Make Icing Flowers DVD because they can be a bit tricky (at least for me.)
This book provides six basic recipes for cookies, cakes and frostings. My hope is that you are purchasing the book for decorating ideas and instruction, not for the recipes. The author's decorating syle is clean, but very elegant. The book provides a strong decorating foundation -- you can use this as a springboard for your imagination.
This is the perfect book if you want to make your first decorated cookies or petit fours. If you are making your first tiered cake this book will provide inspiration, but you may need to supplement it with other sources for complete instruction. This is another of those step-by-step cake guides that was very well worth the money. This particular book kept selling out at Michaels so I had to go online and purchase. Definitely not disappointed

customer 's review (You can leave your shirt on)
(I HATE this shirt and it's stupid wolves!!!)
(Was It A Dream? Also: Missing Dog)
(Helped Me Win Money At The Casino)
(Lawn Statuary Delivery Driver's Delight) This isn't so much a garment as it is an aphrodesiac. The 3 Wolf design obviously accounts for the unrelenting hounding by submissive nymphets - what can't be so easily explained is the enhanced reproductive function. Whilst such an outcome may seem to conflict with modern textile theory I can attest after extensive research in which the Official 3 Wolf garment is compared with shirtless and regular 2 Wolf, that responsiveness, rigidity, stamina, frequency and even volume are all markedly improved by the Official 3 Wolf garment.
Fashion tip: khaki cargo pants + this baby = impress at any occasion I bought this supposedly "great" shirt for my ex boyfriend back when he wasn't an ex yet. He Lovvvvvvvved it! He wore it to the grocery store to get a loaf of bread. Ha! He got bread alright. He got himself a new girlfriend with the shirt I bought for that low life! Yeah, and she's younger, prettier, blonder, [...], makes more money, drives a nicer car, owns a nicer house and doesn't even have a drug problem! Whatever. Everybody LOVVVES the 3 wolf shirt. But only because you never think about those of us who are really HURT by this terrible Tee! Thanks for nuthin 3 Wolves. I want a refund and a new boyfriend! I don't know if this was a dream, but some time ago I purchased a three wolf moon shirt from a haggard Gypsy woman passing through our village. She seemed reluctant to make the sale even while noting that her own son, now passed on I gathered, had owned such a garment. She made some comment about "moonbane" and saying my prayers by night, or some such nonsense, as is wont of these superstitious types and I daresay probably abetted by a hint of dementia. But I digress. Later that evening while brushing my teeth I looked in the mirror and, strange as it seemed, the wolves seemed somehow different. I was tired and, I thought, sleepy but it seemed more that I was dizzy. When I looked again I saw that the wolves were now even more changed. They were beginning; it seemed to me, to change or morph: to begin to appear human. At the same time my image in the mirror seemed altered as well, distant, hazy, but my beard seemed fuller and the teeth I was brushing -- were they mine? So long, so much sharper. I don't believe I even made my bedchamber before entering the land of Nod it seems. The next thing I remember, but vaguely, only as images and sensations, was running free through the moonlit night and the forest floor. Everything colorless, black and white yet bright and clear. The sense of freedom and carefreeness was exhilarating. I met with "others" I know not what, like myself and we ran, fought, hunted, captured, killed and ate in a ravenous, otherworldly orgy of bloodlust and delight followed by - I'm sorry, but to be honest, as I must - the most carnal acts of "mating." The next morning when I pulled myself at last from the floor and the deepest, almost narcotic, sleep I have ever known, I was exhausted yet energized. I felt more ALIVE than I have ever known. The back door was wide open and muddy dog prints trailed across the tile though they seemed to change, grow larger as they progressed. After reaching the carpet of the den they just became only formless mud which finally disappeared altogether. I assumed this was the work of my canine companion, that rascal, Rex. Altogether quite strange indeed. Incidentally, Rex has gone missing and I am worried, as he developed an unusual bleeding of the [...] after the night of my strange and wonderful dream.
Sir Lawrence Talbot.
I went to my local casino two days ago to have a drink with a friend. I had an amazing experience I had to share with you.
First of all, I never gamble. I don't like the odds. But, we decided anyway to gamble away $20 dollars.
We looked around trying to decide where to blow the money. We looked at the card tables, the roulette wheel, and finally, the slot machines.
And then I saw it. A slot machine with a big wolf's head on it.
I instantly remembered the power of the wolf t-shirt and confidently walked over to the machine.
We put in our $20 dollars. It was a very complicated machine (to us) and we asked the grizzled woman at the next chair how to bet. She guided us expertly (like a wise elder) and we proceeded to double our money in the first two spins.
She recommended we cash out $20 to bank our winnings. We obediently complied (as if in a trance of wolf spirit and earth mother). We spun a couple of more times, won again, and realized that our glorious moment was complete.
We cashed out, more than doubling our money, and walked out of the casino feeling high. This is my first post on amazon in my entire life. If you can't buy this shirt, do as I did, and let it guide you throughout your life. I bought that shirt several years ago, long before it became such a mega rage. And let me tell you, each time I wore it while driving I only got green lights. Seriously, not a single red light on any of the days that I drove while wearing it. It was crazy. I almost never even had to touch my brakes, and since I made my living as a lawn statuary delivery driver, I was able to deduct the purchase price from my taxes. What a double blessing. But, be warned, the three wolves' didn't have the same strength if I wore the shirt under another shirt, such as when layering for winter. Doing that reduced the shirt's power and resulted in my getting only yellow lights when I drove. That made for some exciting but rather stressful days of driving. Sadly, I don't drive anymore and I haven't discovered what other powers my shirt has. (great for what you pay for)
(you get what you pay for)
(alright if you like scratches) These aviators are top notch with an exceptional mirror finish that looks great. For this price and for three of them, you wont find a better deal. Im still using my first pair. For the price, their a decent set of aviators. The nosepads of the ones I received were a little out of shape, but easily fixable with needle nosed pliers. They've lasted me quite a while. great sunglasses for the price. i went through about 9 pairs of these things when i was in iraq because they do get scratched up a lot going out on a tank every day, plus i gave away a couple pairs to my friends. but they are really dark, which is why i loved them, since iraq is located roughly thirty feet from the surface of the sun. They are cheap glasses and way to small for my head i ended up giving them to kids who think they are the sweetest glasses ever. The product was also shipped fast. three pairs were scratched, one pair to the point that they were useless, but for the price who was i to complain? i won't be buying any more, that's for sure. i don't know who they are but another store will be getting my business You can store a pair everywhere you need them: at the office, in your car and in your home. customer 's review (best chocolate ever)
(The best chocolate ever)
(Average chocolate, strong fillings)
(Delicious)
(dark belgian chocolates) i have to disagree with the reviewer who said these are not as good as godiva - no disrespect to godiva chocolates, i enjoy them, but imho these bury godiva or any other dark chocolate i have ever had. i treat my self to 1/night. great chocolate! This is the second year I ordered this assortment for Christmas gifts. My family now thinks I am wonderful. Thanks, Leonidas. These are definitely "mid-range" chocolates, not quite as good as Godiva or See's. If you're used to low-end chocolates like Fannie May or Russell Stover, you'll probably find these to be very good. However, if you're used to very good chocolates like La Maison du Chocolat, you'll be sorely disappointed.
I found the chocolate to have unexceptional flavor and a somewhat waxy texture. The fillings were mostly very sweet or alcoholic, which is a common practice to cover up mediocre chocolate.
I guess they're a good value compared to Godiva, although I think See's Candies has an even better value. Don't expect Leonidas to compare to a high-end chocolatier. I really didn't know much about this type of chocolate and took a chance and got a box. This was a Christmas present for my wife but after all the good stuff we read we had to break into it a month early. I thought to myself how much differently could this really taste than the American chocolate I am used to. It comes in a box that you get to unwrap and untie the bow. This chocolate is the best ever and after tasting and finishing off the entire box we couldn't wait to get another. That will have to wait though for the price but it was worth what we paid. Do yourself a favor and pay the price just to try it out. These made my Mom's day. She LOVES dark chocolate and this was a treasure trove for her and she can't thank me enough for sending these. She says they're smoother, less bitter and less sweet than Hershey's. customer 's review (Tasty gift)
(remembering Belgium)
("Awesome!!!! " said my daughter-in-law)
(poor shipping&handling)
(totally overrated) We sent these to my mother in law who is in a retirement community. She loves the chocolates and likes to share with the nursing staff and her friends. We lived in Belgium for a number of years. Tasting these wonderful chocolates took me back..... The chocs. themselves were delicious with all the sorts of fillings I enjoy. I also enjoyed the different chocolate surrounding the centres. Leonidas was a regular part of our lives and hope that I can enjoy these little luxuries again, more regularly. The delivery was extremely speedy too. I got these chocolates for my son and my daughter-in-law for their 10th wedding anniversary. My son said the chocolates were fantastic, and my daughter-in-law -- a gourmet in many categories including chocolates -- said they were awesome!!! And I give the company 6 stars for customer service. Shipping was horrible. They claimed they couldn't keep it cool for delivery to NY in the summer (How come Godiva can?)
Chocolates good, but........ (others can be better-maybe these were just handled&shipped so poorly that they were no longer good).
Gave as gift, I think I can probably do better. The Leonidas chocolates being peddled in the USA bear little/no resemblance to those available in Europe. After enjoying Leonidas in Germany (Aachen and Munich) for many years I placed an order here in New York State. What I received was (a) crudely presented boxes of (b) thick, hard-shelled (c) anonymous flavoured cream centres. With the exception of the coffee creams (which were more or less as I remember them from Europe) the rest of the box seemed to consist of two undefinable centres. Extremely disappointed with this order. The Godiva selection my mother received for Christmas was FAR superior in every respect -- packaging, presentation, appearance, texture, taste. I won't buy Leonidas in the USA again. Leonidas General Assortment...with a well balanced and representative selection of Leonidas' fresh butter creams, sinfully smooth truffles and delectable pralines, there is sure to be something in this assortment to please everybody, and is guarenteed to tantalize even the most discerning palates. customer 's review (More great stuff)
(fun and tasty)
(Flavorless)
(Never arrived)
(An excellent Christmas Gift for a loved one who loves popcorn!) I bought some of the same flavors in a different pack. I love the variety and my family loves them too. I am having to hide some of the flavors for myself. This package comes with the seasonings and I just love those. I am hoping to purchase several of those separately. I hope they come in larger sizes. Great stuff Wisconsinmade. I was very pleased with this product. The popcorn is delicious and pops well, and the seasonings are wonderful too. I bought this gift set for my boyfriend and wish I had just saved my money and bought a bottle of store popcorn kernels and a stick of butter instead. While the different types of popcorn kernels were novel, they pretty much all tasted the same. The "seasoning" added absolutely no flavor to the popcorn. The seasoning was so powdery fine, it just went straight to the bottom of the bowl. Even dumping a generous amount directly onto the popcorn in your hand didn't add any real, enjoyable flavor. And watch the cost of shipping, it can end up being almost as much as the actual product. As far as I know, the product never arrived. Can't say I will ever buy another product from this company. I was so amazed to have received my order so superfast, way early, for Christmas. I bought this for my eldest stepson. He loves to snack, and his most favorite snack would be POPCORN!
Love the unique packing, and marvelled at the unique types of popcorn with the accompanied unique seasonings. I never knew they have special types of popcorn, with seasonings?! Wow!!! This would make an excellent Christmas gift for your loved one! Or, great for any occasions!
Great Company, Superfast Delivery, they have an array of unique foods, lovely boutique like gift packs, etc.
Will definitely buy again from this Company.:) Fireworks Popcorn features their top four varieties of Natural Gourmet American Popcorn and four tasty popcorn seasonings in the Gourmet Popcorn and Seasoning Gift Set. Enjoy Wisconsin White Birch, Starshell Red, Savanna Gold, and High Mountain Midnight gourmet popcorn complemented by four natural popcorn seasonings. Developed exclusively for Fireworks Popcorn, the seasonings satisfy every craving from salty to sweet, from zesty to mild. They spice up more than just popcorn. (Perfect gift for a 2-year old!)
(What a hit!)
(Wonderful idea!)
(Fun, Durable Toy!) Gave this to my niece a few weeks ago for her 2nd birthday and she still loves playing with it. It's very well crafted out of wood and encourges her imagination and social skills to play with family and friends. She will even prop up her dolls and stuffed animals and have a tea&cake party with them. I have also noticed from singing the "Happy Birthday" song outload she now sings it by herself with the same melody and voice inflection we use when we sing the song. Overall, a nice item to be enjoyed over and over again. I bought this as a birthday present for a 2-year-old boy and he loved it! He loved decorating the cake and then sharing slices with others. It is such a cute gift and is nice for either a girl or boy. The wooden pieces were sturdy and looked like they could withstand repetitive play. I would buy this again as a gift for another young child and also for my own son who is 1 and a half (despite the recommended age of 3+). My three kids always liked to play "Birthday Party". So I got this birthday cake set for my daughters' 3rd birthday. Out of all the gifts she got, this was the one she wanted right after opening it. My kids play with it almost every day. Sometimes they pretend it's pizza too! My only complaint would be that there are not individual serving plates for the pieces of cake. My son has the Pizza "puzzle" like this, and my 4-year-old nephew loves it. Instead of getting him the exact same one, we just got him the Birthday Cake kit for his 4th birthday. He loves it, too! My only complaint is some of the things to put on the cake (gumdrops?) are kind of random...
My nephew has cerebral palsy and has a hard time with any fine motor skills, and this has been great therapy for him, because he can learn to cut, put the decorations in specific places without having to fit them into jigsaw patterns as with a real puzzle, etc. I would recommend this to anyone with kids who have a similar case of CP. I bought this for my daughter's 3rd birthday. Two months later she's still celebrating! She enjoys putting different toppings and candles on the cake, and "cutting" through the velcro with the cake server. I love all of the melissa&doug products because they are durable, unique, and fun. You are invited to Melissa and Doug's birthday party! Let the fun begin with this playful birthday cake. It has enough slices and toppings for every party guest the whole family can join in the fun. Now kids ages three to five can throw birthday parties year round.A Wish Come True This simple wooden toy fosters creative play and is a wonderful addition to imaginary kitchens everywhere. Use the wooden spatula to serve the cake and the fake candles to make a wish. This toy will make an excellent birthday gift for future bakers. The cake itself is painted white with blue icing swirls and has seven removable candles that fasten to the top. Three delectable toppings -- strawberries, jellybeans, and gumdrops -- can be added to the top and the cake comes in a decorative box kids love. This delicious dessert is already cut into slices that fasten together with Velcro and easily pull apart. It also has a bright red serving platter and each of the six pieces is about the size of a real piece of cake. Also, as a well-made and durable wooden toy, it withstands child play and the paint won't easily chip off, even if it is accidentally dropped. Storing all the pieces may be a challenge, but a party box is included to contain the candles and decorations. Features This birthday cake is a hit for those who like to help out in the kitchen. Children love redecorating and serving it using the wooden spatula. Unlike many of today's modern toys, it encourages creativity, as children get to design their own cake and parties. It amuses future hosts and hostesses for hours and is an exceptional value as a 33-piece set. This cake remains child's favorite for years and includes enough candles to celebrate a lot of birthdays. The cake has a 10-1/2-inch diameter. What's in the Box Includes 6-slice cake, serving plate, 19 toppings, 7 candles, wooden spatula and storage box.
Three delectable toppings can be added, and the cake comes in a decorative box |
It's a wish come true! This uniquely playful wooden birthday cake has enough slices and toppings for every "party guest" and enough candles to last for years! Includes wooden spatula and convenient storage box. Rerations < Melissa&Doug Birthday Party Birthday Cake >

(Great for letting your toddlers help with the baking!)
(minor defect)
(My girls love this toy...)
(Only one suggestion) We were looking for more wooden cookies for my son's cookie jar in his play kitchen. This are a very safe size (unlike the mini Haba sets)and are loads of fun. The only thing that I can guarantee will break in no time is the cookie tube meant for storage. It's made of cardboard and my toddler pulled off the wrong end and pretty much decimated it within a week. My 2 year old loves this cookie set. He plays with it more than all of the other Melissa and Doug food sets that he has.
The cookie's frosting Velcros onto the cookie and the cookies Velcro onto the tray. The set comes with a dozen cookies with frosting, a spatula to remove the cookies from the baking sheet with, a baking sheet, and a tube to put all your "unbaked" cookies into.
My son loves taking the cookies out of the tube, placing them on the tray, and baking them. Then he loves to use the spatula to get the cookies off of the tray and runs around the house giving everyone cookies.
We hear "Mama, I'm baking cookies!" come out of the playroom all of the time. This is a great little set and has given hours of entertainment to our little boy.
His second favorite Melissa and Doug food set would have to be the Melissa&Doug Wooden Sushi. The sushi set was his favorite until he got this cookie set for his birthday.
The only trouble we have with this set is that our dog loves to chew on wood; so we have to make sure to put everything away before we leave the house otherwise it ends up chewed. Hmmm...maybe these cookies are yummy even though they are wood. I am a mother of three (children ages 6yrs,5yrs and 17 months)wanting durable toys, that can hold up to rough play and teething. Overall, I was very pleased. However, the cookie tube is made of cardboard and the inside lining was unraveling when it arrived. I just reattached the paper that was pealing with some hotglue and the kids were ready to play. I am not convinced that the cardboard tube will hold up over time with removing and replacing the endcap (for storing the cookie dough). I wish the cookie tube was made of plastic, but my children are really enjoying slicing and making cookies, so I would still recommend the product to others. This product was recommended to me by a friend, and my girls love to play with it. They are always baking cookies! Because the cookies stick to the pan with velcro, it is easy for the girls to carry around. I am really happy I bought this toy. We love this toy, as we love all the Melissa and Doug toys that we have so far. My only suggestion is that the pan could be smaller to fit inside more play kitchen ovens. We have a fairly large play kitchen- the Little Tikes wooden kitchen, but the cookie sheet still won't fit in the oven. I think I might have my husband use his power tools ;-) to cut the cookie sheet in half, then sand and paint it again, and maybe add a lip to each of the cut sides. Then there will be two sheets and both kids can make their own batch. My daughter really works hard trying to find a way for the cookie sheet to fit into her oven and is so disappointed that it won't go. Then of course, she wants to put it into our real oven so we can't let her play with this toy unsupervised. Melissa&Doug Slice and Bake Cookie SetBake up a batch of fun! This realistic wooden set includes 12 colorful, detailed cookies with 18 toppings, plus wooden knife, kitchen mitt and cookie sheet. With over 30 pieces, this set makes a tasty treat for little bakers. Rerations < Melissa&Doug Slice and Bake Cookie Set >

Melissa and Doug(2007-03-13)

(Good one!)
(Chore chart)
(Great Way to Visualize Efforts)
(magnetic chore chart) I bought this for my daughter that is going on 14 months old. The list of chores that it comes with are reasonable and my daughter loves to get smileys when she is good. I love the two extra blank chore magnets. I used dry erase markers and add on things age appropriate. Even at a young age it makes her more aware that when she is good, there are rewards. Its really helping me with my daughter's progress....She even reminds me every night to complete the chart!!, the good thing is that you get a weekly progress not just a single one, so if she does ok by the end of the week she gets a reward... The Melissa and Doug Magnetic chore chart is great. I love that its very interchangable, my children pick out the chores they want to be responsible for each week so they don't get bored of doing the same thing. We use the bottom section to write what they're weekly reward will be with a dry erase marker. It is very sturdy and all in all a great product. We have two 9 month old babies and it is not as easy as it once was to give immediate feedback and reinforcement to my preschooler for a job well done. To top that off, it is more important than ever that jobs actually get done more independently (get dressed etc). This chart is a great way for my almost-4-year-old to receive immediate feedback when he completes a task. I like that you are able to change what responsibilities are important but I would like it if there were more spaces to put the current responsibilities. Excellent! One of the best products from melissa and doug that i've seen/purchased. one of the more reasonably priced ones as well, kids love it. Help kids understand the concept of behavior and rewards. This entertaining, magnetic activities board feature the innovative combination of magnets and wood. Includes a dry-erase board and 134 magnets depicting behaviors and rewards. Measures 16" x 12" when closed; 16" x 24" when open. Rerations < Melissa&Doug Deluxe Magnetic Responsibility Chart. >

(Debauchery is more fun - but does not a good story make.)
(When fantasies come true)
("Sweet" BDSM romance)
(super sexy...) If you are looking for a seriously good bdsm novel, look no more. Sweet Persuasion is such a book and it really, really delivers. It's all about fantasy fulfillment and then her own. I thought the set up was out of this world and, in a way, reminded me of Confessions of A Londo Callgirl (the series, not the book) but it is a lifestyle that, I guess, many go fantasize about. So, why not? I also liked the fact that it didn't just dive into it, but there was a good buildup in the tension. A good read! I also liked, for bdsm, Eager To Please, as well. Serena James is in the business of fulfilling fantasies. Whether it's a night as a high roller, or the childhood dream to act the princess aboard a cruise ship, Serena happily and wistfully fulfills whatever her clients desire. Happily, because she enjoys whenever a fantasy lives up to it's expectations and wistfully, because she wishes she too could just walk into a room and have her deepest darkest fantasy come to life. Though her fantasy is a little more complicated than setting up a dream night as the head chef in a restaurant. She wants a real life master she could kneel before and lay her head on. Who will take her, own her, and cherish her. Lucky for this lady she happens to know a friend who has the private number of the man who lives in a world where finding such a master is commonplace. When Serena's friend points her in the direction of Damon Roche, it's like serving up the lamb to the lion. To steal a line, "What a stupid lamb, and what a sick, masochistic lion." (I think that line sums up this story pretty nicely)
Damon Roche is a man who given up on his own personal fantasy. He loves the feel of a woman kneeling at his feet. He loves the feel of a bound woman submissively offering herself up to his control. Finding such a woman is easy. Keeping one is a different story. What he wants as a lifestyle scares off most women and so when his friend points him in the direction of Serena, he sets after her with predatory anticipation. He's willing to live the fantasy with Serena for one month, going a week at a time. Barely the first five days have past before the lines of this carefully delineated fantasy begin to blur and neither Damon or Serena know what is truth or illusion. Are they living out the fantasy of Master and slave? Or are they simply creating their own relationship in a world with no guidelines or rules?
Maya Banks can certainly write some sexy scenes. Some parts of this book had me squirming in lust. While others had my mind wandering in boredom. Plus there were others that had me going, "Ewwwww." Still, there was one scene that had me going, "Awww." Since all I heard before reading this book was about specific scenes - I'm going to spoil them and give my thoughts: Spoilers ahead!!!!!! ******************************************************
Maya Banks loves having her men feed and bathe their ladies. While I could do without the feeding part (but thank God she didnt have the women kneeling at the mens feet, being fed scraps from the table * waves to Jaid Black*) I certainly enjoyed the bathing parts and whenever someone takes a brush to Serena's hair. I looooooooooooove having my hair brushed so whenever I read about it in a book it instantly gets a thumbs up from me.
Damon likes to keep her naked and he enjoys having her naked in front of other people as well. But only in front of servants who never bat an eyelash over it or only in front of people who either live or know the lifestyle. He repeatedly tells her his aim is not to embarrass her and indeed, no one bats an eyelash over it.
The closest we got to multiple partners was the first anal scene. Damon had two men hold Serena down while he was having rough anal sex with her. Later, while he was coming inside her, the two men come on top of her. I could have done without the mention that some of the stuff landed on her face, but other then that, I found that scene to be damn hot. Damn. Hot.
Damon has a comfy cozy pallet made up for Serena that he places at the foot of his super masculine chair before a roaring fire. (I ain't gonna mention the absurdity of having both the fire and the air conditioning on. Nope. Ain't gonna mention it - though it was this type of pretension that rubbed me the wrong way with Damon) It's the infamous dog reposing before it's master scene. Truthfully? I kinda found it cute. Damon is working and he occasionally rubs his toes along her back. I couldn't help myself and had to let out a big, "Awwww."
The first whipping scene at The House was very hot. She hit subspace with a bang and I thought it was very erotic.
The second whipping scene was not as erotic as Maya Banks could have written - which was appropriate since it was created to be a scene of endurance and atonement, and ultimately about submitting with grace. Damon stands there before her and demands her eyes never leave his face. Micah is actually the one who administers this corporeal punishment. What happens to bring about this scene is that Serena does not call Damon when she knows she's going to be late. She's actually avoiding him and does this on purpose, knowing he will be worried. He's understandably pissed off. He's going to get her back later for it but in the meantime they have guests so he wants her to get dressed and come back to him. She's playing games and unsure of whether or not she wants this to be real. She decides she doesn't want this to be real and instead of changing her clothes, she comes down naked as a jaybird. As a slave. Since the party is full of men and women who live the lifestyle, they all know exactly what she is doing, and what message she is conveying. A big F U to all of them. So Damon punishes her publicly for her defiance of him and her shaming him in front of them. End spoilers!!!!!!!!!!!! ************************************************
Damon was very sweet in Maya Banks' first book in the Sweet series, Sweet Surrender, and I had problems imagining him as the type of man who would want Serena as he did in Sweet Persuasion. After finishing this book I still felt no closer in knowing what made him tick and while I can now envision him as the implacable master who desired instant obedience and devotion, it didn't mean I particularly enjoyed it. He was too GQ for my tastes. I like a man with a harder edge. A rougher refinement. Truthfully, he reminded me of Phury from J.R. Ward's BDB series. Try imagining that wet dishrag as a powerful dom and see if you can keep a straight face. It's kind of a drastic comparison and not a particularly fair one, but it's an image that kept popping in my head regardless. Neither Serena or Damon were personable enough to keep me centered in this story and neither were the BDSM scenes hardcore enough to keep my interest alive either. ETA: For a mass market produced book this was very hardcore so read at your own risk.
Julia, a character that Maya Banks is sequel baiting with irritated the holy crap out of me. I wanted to take a pair of scissors and cut her out of this book. Her idea of catching a man consisted of batting her eyelashes and showing off her cleavage. Since she was constantly saying that she was not a submissive woman, I was pretty disgusted by her "roll over play dead" attitude whenever the object of her lust walked by. And speaking of sequel baiting - I'm still waiting impatiently for Micah's book. If Miz Banks sets up MY object of lust with that twit Julia I will shoot something.
I also did not like the way Maya Banks brought about the end of this book. Serena's reasons for leaving Damon seemed pretty pathetic. She was hurting and it appeared to me as if she wanted to prolong the bleeding. The rather abrupt ending worked FOR me rather than AGAINST me. This type of relationship needed to be worked through on the daily and having them ride off into the sunset would not have been honest. Every relationship has problems that need to be worked through but their problems would not be about him leaving his socks on the floor in front of the laundry basket. So theirs was a relationship that needed to be lived through one day at a time. So while the abrupt ending and ambiguous HEA didn't bother me, I wish there could have been more of them talking. The initial buildup of their relationship started off with a lot of communication and I wish it could have ended that way too. All in all I would rate this book as a 3.75. 4 stars was too much because while I enjoyed several parts, I don't see myself rereading this book. 3 stars seems too low. 3.50 is a cop out I use when I don't want to go as low as 3 stars so I'm bumping it up to 3.75. Does that make sense? "Sweet Persuasion" by Maya Banks is a great book that makes me definitely crave for more. Serena's job is making the fantasies of her clients come true. But it's time to fulfill a fantasy of her own. For years she has dreamed of being under control of a dominant man, of being a slave to a master who pampers her, protects her and complies her needs and wishes. Serena's good friend Faith (from "Sweet Surrender" - a must read) knows just the right person. Damon Roche, a rich business man and owner of "The House" a club where sexual wishes are fulfilled, is no novice when it comes to dominance. Damon is more than willing to help out Serena but only if he will be the man to own her. What starts as a month of fulfilling a fantasy soon turns in a promise of a future together. But Serena is afraid if she really is the one that can give Damon what he craves for - a lifetime together filled with love, respect and dominance/submission. I absolutly love this book. It's hot, Damon and Serena are a great pair and learning more about Faith, Gray, Micah, Nathan and Julie was just great (all from "Sweet Surrender"). The dominance/submission part of the book is extreme but also very alluring and in parts even sweet and innocent. I can recommend this book to all fans of spicy romances who aren't afraid of some kink (all consensual of course). Next up in the series are "Sweet Seduction" (October 2009, with Julie and Nathan) and "Sweet Temptation" (April 2010, with Micah). I honestly can't wait to read these especially after I learned so much more about Julie in this book. Nathan better gets prepared to handle whatever Julie is planning. For five years, Serena James has filled other people's cravings while ignoring her dreams. Running Fantasy Incorporated has been a full time job so she placed her desires on hold and fulfilled her clients' fantasies.
Now she feels it is her turn to get her itch whipped. She knows whom she wants to dominate her, Damon Roche owner of an exclusive BDSM. Damon is euphoric with a chance to dominate Serena. However he also knows his lovely submissive is thinking short term; he plans on long term domination and tender caring of the woman he loves.
The latest "Sweet" BDSM romance (see SWEET SURRENDER) is a superb contemporary starring two fully developed lead characters whose ardent DS relationship ignites the pages. Serena is the more fascinating of the pair; as she has kept her submissive libido in check while running a fantasy business. Damon is typical of the erotic sub-genre as a strong dominant who controls his partner but makes sure she feels secure under his watch. Is it just me but do these dominants behave like some of the modern alpha werewolves who find their lifemates? Readers will relish Maya Banks' exciting erotic romance.
Harriet Klausner
These are two super strong and sexy characters that were perfect for each other. It was great to read about Damon again since I liked him so much in Sweet Surrender. I was glad to see him find his match.
Although I really did understand Serena's fears and her worries over the "realities" of a true relationship like this, I was sometimes irritated with her stubborness on the issue. It sometimes seemed like she was just thinking childishly and she was very intelligent and educated. I expected more from an articulate woman like her. BUT, it was still a super hot story. And if you read the previous story you would already have a soft spot in your heart for Damon so it was very sweet. He's a romantic and sexy man who knows what he wants and that was extremely evident throughout the story. Lots of steamy love scenes! (although, not to be too spoilerish...I wouldn't want to earn one of his punishments!! eek!! As much as the "lifestyle" can be appealing, not sure I could handle the potential public punishments...that's all I'll say about that!).
All in all, I LOVED the book. Love this author's writing style. Sweet and erotic all throughout and very satisfying. If there was one criticism, it would be that it ended a bit abruptly for me. I won't spoil it by saying what happened but once it did, that was it. No epilogue or blurb to give us a little something to taste once things were resolved. It's really kind of more a compliment because I absolutely adore this author and hate to see her stories end. I get so engrossed in the characters. So ending it so abruptly just made me sad. I CAN'T WAIT FOR NATHAN AND MICAH'S STORIES... The bestselling author of For Her Pleasure and Sweet Surrender delivers another winner-the kind of erotic romance readers are craving. For five years, Serena has run Fantasy Incorporated and devoted her time to fulfilling her clients- fantasies, but never her own. Until now- Her most secret desire is to give ownership of her body to a man. Someone who will command her, pleasure her, and have complete authority over her. So she seeks out Damon Roche, owner of an exclusive sex club and a man strong enough to make her do anything he wants. Anything. Rerations < Sweet Persuasion >

(Perfect!)
(I love this book and adore the recipes as well...)
(Interesting but redundant and poorly edited)
(felt like a mini trip to paris) this book made me laugh and wish that i was able to go back to paris. the recipes included seemed to be really delicious, even though i haven't made any of them...yet. It is so rare for a book to be just what you want it to be---this is one of those times! I had not consciously been aware of the author until recently when I stumbled on his blog. Read a few entries, read a few more, noted there were books involved and jumped on the current one. I can't wait to try many of the recipes and I have so enjoyed his wit and style as he describes Paris life for those of us who can only dream about it. ...however I find that reading this book late at night has been a challenge because I find myself laughing out loud and wanting to wake my boyfriend to passages to him. Having just recently returned from Paris, we recall many of the same funny experiences and can understand the joy of living in the City of Light along with the many challenges of living abroad. David's book also made me long for the delectable markets all over the city.
A great quick summer read! I like the way Lebovitz writes, but due to bad editing there are many redundancies (repeated sentences and thoughts expressed) and typos (misspelled words/phrases like "Associate Press" instead of "Associated Prress"). Bought the book and couldnt put it down, loved it. I felt like I got to go to Paris the way David writes. What great recipes as well. I have since bought two of his books. Scoops and Chocolate. Please write anotherbook David. Maybe about one of your trips to Italy to get coffee. Stay a while for us!!
Like so many others, David Lebovitz dreamed about living in Paris ever since he first visited the city in the 1980s. Finally, after a nearly two-decade career as a pastry chef and cookbook author, he moved to Paris to start a new life. Having crammed all his worldly belongings into three suitcases, he arrived, hopes high, at his new apartment in the lively Bastille neighborhood.
But he soon discovered it's a different worlden France.
From learning the ironclad rules of social conduct to the mysteries of men's footwear, from shopkeepers who work so hard not to sell you anything to the etiquette of working the right way around the cheese plate, here is David's story of how he came to fall in love with—and even understand—this glorious, yet sometimes maddening, city.
When did he realize he had morphed intoun vrai parisien? It might have been when he found himself considering a purchase of men's dress socks with cartoon characters on them. Or perhaps the time he went to a bank with 135 euros in hand to make a 134-euro payment, was told the bank had no change that day, and thought it was completely normal. Or when he found himself dressing up to take out the garbage because he had come to accept that in Paris appearances and image mean everything.
The more than fifty original recipes, for dishes both savory and sweet, such as Pork Loin with Brown Sugar–Bourbon Glaze, Braised Turkey in Beaujolais Nouveau with Prunes, Bacon and Bleu Cheese Cake, Chocolate-Coconut Marshmallows, Chocolate Spice Bread, Lemon-Glazed Madeleines, and Mocha–Crème Fraîche Cake, will have readers running to the kitchen once they stop laughing.
The Sweet Life in Parisis a deliciously funny, offbeat, and irreverent look at the city of lights, cheese, chocolate, and other confections. Rerations < The Sweet Life in Paris: Delicious Adventures in the World's Most Glorious - and Perplexing - City >

(One word... great...)
(Get to the recipe already!)
(I really like this book.)
(David knows his ice cream) I found the recipes to be easy to follow and the commentary was helpful and fun at the same time. There are some basic recipes to get started and then there are really gourmet recipes when you want to wow your peeps. Also the "serve with" recipes for sauces, cookies, etc. were a nice touch. I am in love with this book. More, please!!! This book might as well be the only ice cream book you'll ever need and want... especially if you like besides the usual (vanilla, chocolate, strawberry) ...something more off the beaten path. I must admit that I personally have always been drawn to the more unusual flavor combinations, so ice creams like Roquefort-Honey, Avocado or Orange-Szechwan Pepper are on my must-try list. But of course, you'll find here a little less "wild" flavors, like Coffee; Rum Raisin; Cheesecake ice creams plus a wide assortment of frozen yogurts, sherbets, sorbets and granitas. My favorite feature is the "Perfect Pairing" ideas concluding each recipe that suggest mix-ins, sauces (recipes included) or serving certain flavors together to make these desserts even more spectacular. I bought a new ice cream maker and wanted a book to compliment it. I debated between this book and Ben&Jerry's latest edition. I went with this book based on all the great reviews. I have to say I was greatly disappointed. The author goes on and on about how he discovered this recipe or what this recipe means or whatEVER! I just wanted to make some ice cream already! Most of the recipes are, well, weird. Who eats some of this stuff? The book is very nice quality too - too nice. It belongs in a library, not a kitchen. I guess I'm just a Ben&Jerry's girl afterall. So far I've only tried one recipe, but I liked it because it wasn't too sweet. I like that there is a variety of recipes from the basics to more sophisticated flavors. I also like that there is variety because he doesn't focus on just ice cream...there's also frozen yogurt, granita, etc recipes. Best recipe book I have come across for making ice creams, sorbets, sherbets, sauces, mix-ins etc. The only part I eliminate for ice creams is the cooling of the custard in an ice-bath. The Perfect Scoop - Ice Creams, Sorbets, Granitas, and Sweet Accompaniments by David Lebovitz"Ripe seasonal fruits. Fragrant vanilla, toasted nuts, and spices. Heavy cream and bright liqueurs. With novelty patterns and fashion appropriate details, your young star will shine all day and into the night. Reebok was founded for one of the best reasons possible: athletes wanted to run faster. So in the 1890s, Joseph William Foster made some of the first known running shoes with spikes in them. By 1895, he was in business making shoes by hand for top runners; and before long his fledgling company, J.W. Foster and Sons, developed an international clientele of distinguished athletes.
