(Beautiful scrapbook!)

(Wish they made more cover designs--I would buy all of them)
This product comes exactly as described and even in a heavier plastic box. Great style details and comes with 20 top-loading pages! Many come with only ten! Great buy. Highly recommended!
I love this scrap book! The pages are good quality paper that slide out of a plastic sleeve so it is really easy to apply photos and mementos and you don't lose any space to binder holes. I have purchased two--one for each of my children--and I only wish they made more cover designs so that I could keep using them as the children grow.
Oh soooo adorable! Our sweet pea collection will surely grow on you! Beautifully crafted with kraft papers, decorative ribbons, embossings, and tiny button embellishments, this collection is the perfect accent to any nursery décor. This scrapbook features embossed tip-on in a die-cut recessed window, buttons and ribbon trim. 20 top-loading sleeves with two 12" x 12" acid-free pages per sleeve.

(Fiesta!)

(great video for 18 month old)

(Great for beginners)

(Great Sesame Street video!)

(It is a real Fiesta)
This is a fun way for children to learn Spanish. Sesame Street is just great to teach kids and to keep them engaged. The songs are great and make one feel happy.
This really keeps my 18 month's interest- the songs are catchy and entertaining. It has Linda Rondstat and Celia Cruz! It is a fun video he wants to watch over and over- it lasts about 30 minutes. It is not an educational video per se, although he is repeating the words in spanish (like the numbers)..it is pure entertainment and fun.
My kids who are just beginning to learn Spanish have learned a lot of vocabulary from this DVD, highly recommended for second language learners!
We love this video - who doesn't love Sesame Street? - it is fun, upbeat and the songs are great. I don't know if my kids are really learning much spanish with it, but it is a great way to put the music and culture in front of them in an entertaining way!
My kids enjoy watching this video, it is a lot of fun, very entertaining and it is rewarding to see that they learned to count with it...
Movie DVD
Fiestameans party in Spanish, and Sesame Street is pulsating with activity in this upbeat preschool program featuring Latino songs. Jim Henson's Muppets join the fun while everyone's favorite, Elmo, learns the Conga- Wiggle dance. Maria, Rosita, and Gabi create floats and costumes; even Oscar reluctantly partakes in the festivities. The dialogue is sparse in order to devote most of the 30-minute show to singing and dancing during eight Spanish/English tunes, featuring special performances by Linda Ronstadt and Celia Cruz. Most of the music will be familiar, such as "Conga Counting Song," "Amigo," and "It Sure Is Hot." Kids will also learn greetings, familiar words, and numbers in Spanish. While some might wish for the addition of live-action scenes of Mexico or a more complex story line, the bilingual focus is solid and the ever supportive cast of Sesame Street grownups, kids, and Muppets make it a neighborhood worth visiting.--Lynn Gibson

(get it)

(Why no remastered deluxe edition?)

(the start of his future)

("ROCK-A-BYE SWEET BABY JAMES..." (sweet, soulful and bluesy acoustic perfection))

(i love Two Lane Blacktop, but this CD sucks)
i originally bought this for my mom, then i stole it back. atleast someone is listening to it
It's really a mystery as to why JT's 1970's albums have not been remastered. Carly Simons albums as well. There is no excuse for it WB and Reprise.
James Taylor is a genius. This is the beginning of something unbelievable, I have been following JT for many years, this CD really shows his greatness and also the start of something great to come.
Sweet Baby James (1970) is the second album from James Taylor, his breakthrough and his best. The sweet, bluesy acoustic guitar and vocals on this album are authentic and interesting. No, this isn't the easy listening JT of Handyman and Your Smiling Face fame, this is the down home and down-to-earth folk-blues singing and guitar picking JT. Of course, the quiet thoughtful folkie side of James Taylor is here, too. The themes are often reflective, and Taylor's sense of melancholy mixes well with his instinct to survive. He accepts his sadness in a realistic way by acknowledging it, but not letting it get the best of him.

The title song is one of JT's greatest, a two-part cowboy lullaby that's a description of James' car trip to meet his baby nephew (also named James) for the first time, and images of a young cowboy on the range.

And as the moon rises he sits by his fire
Thinking about women and glasses of beer
And closing his eyes as the doggies retire
He sings out a song which is soft but it's clear
As if maybe someone could hear

JT gets bluesy on Steamroller Blues, a song that starts as a one-man-band guitar and vocal blues, and shifts into a delicious and lazy rocking blues swing with help from a big brass band. Country Road is another one of Taylor's greatest songs. The Carolina boy sings of finding peace of mind on a country road in soulful tandem with his heavenly acoustic guitar.

I guess my feet know where they want me to go
Walking on a country road

Sunny Skies is a lighthearted tune, and JT does a remake of Stephen Foster's 1847 song Oh Susanna that sounds surprisingly good. Of course, the big hit on the album is the signature Fire And Rain, and JT has said the song was written in three parts. The first part is about his friend who suddenly died, the second part about his own battles with drugs and depression, and the third part deals with new found fame and fortune. The song has a particular and profound personal meaning for many people in the world, myself included.

Well there's hours of time on the telephone line
To talk about things to come
Sweet dreams and flying machines in pieces on the ground

JT gets bluesy again with the country-blues tinged Oh Baby, Don't You Loose Your Lip On Me. There's some great acoustic blues guitar and laid back blues singing here, and it sounds sweet and soulful.

Sweet Baby James is quiet, down-to-earth and folk-style bluesy. It's also sweet in a soulful and thoughtfully acoustic way. It's James Taylor at his singing-songwriting best, playing songs that are touching, fun, sad, contemplative and of the highest quality. If you get any of James Taylor's albums, this should be the one.

Two Lane Blacktop is my favorite movie of all time. I love James Taylor's acting in it. But, there is a reason he is not a successful singer. The evidence: Sweet Baby Jane. This is probably the worst CD I have ever heard, and I have listened to some bad CD's. I bought this CD because JT was in it, thinking it couldn't be too bad. I have never listened to it all the way through. I can't. Can't stomach it. There is virtually no intelligent lyrics, and I have absolutely no idea what the songs are about. This could have been called "Chronicles of the Tone deaf Drifters". Now, I have this album in my CD collection and people ask me, "What is that?" And, I say, "Oh, That's a CD James Taylor recorded back in the day." And, then they say, "Oh . . . Well, Should we . . ." And, I say, "No. NO! Don't ever listen to this CD. Ever. You would be better served picking lint out of your bellybutton or watching paint dry, because this CD is like that, with worse lyrics and less vivid accompaniment." But, that is probably the same reaction JT has now, when some random fan mentions this CD and he cringes, before putting his head in his hands, and saying "What was I thinking . . ."
The album that launched a thousand heavy-hearted singer-songwriters on their not-so-merry way,Sweet Baby Jameswas arguably the first shot in what became the soft revolution of the early '70s. A refugee of the Beatles' Apple label, Taylor struck commercial gold withSweet Baby Jamesby augmenting his acoustic guitar and soothing vocals with laid-back accompaniment (which included equally influential singer-songwriter insurrectionist Carole King on piano) and penning a slew of songs that drew upon folk, soul, and rock influences. "Fire and Rain" stands as the quintessential early Taylor tune: musically mellow and lyrically restive, it put Taylor in the Top 10 and set the tone for a popular school of '70s sound.--Steven Stolder

customer 's review
(A must for fans of the genre.)

(Great singer and actress all in one)

(I can see her in her voice!)

(She is so talented)

(Big Wow)
This is the perfect showcase for the multitalented vocalist. She pays compliments to standards, and makes a few unknown songs all her own.
The first time I saw Kristin Chenoweth in a movie was the TV "Music Man". Just lately I listened to the "Wicked" soundtrack, and after that, I've been listening to Kristin's CDs whenever I can. This one is a jazzy, Broadway-type CD with fun, engaging songs. She's a different type of singer, and while not everyone might enjoy her voice, I really do. If you like Broadway, jazz, drama, romance, or just fun, catchy songs, this is a CD for you.
Once you have seen Kristen Chenoweth in action (check out YouTube) you know not only what an extremely talented musician she is, but also how fabulous she is at acting out and conveying each piece to an audience. She is the WHOLE package! This CD is a great sampling of her extreme talents!
I hope she continues doing seperate albums on the side besides her beoadway albums. She sings in so many different stlyes and her voice is so beautiful in each. She gives such heart to every peice she sings.
A few years back I caught Kristin Chenoweth's socko boffo performance on a Boston Pops special on PBS and was suitably wowed. I had heard nothing but good things about her prior, but since Broadway is not my main musical interest, I admit I hadn't felt compelled to rush to check her out. Then a friend whose main musical interest is in fact, musicals played me a few tracks of the WICKED cast album, on which both Chenoweth and co-star Idina Menzel excelled (and were swell--hmm, maybe I should take up hip hop). All of that made me eager to hear Chenoweth's solo recordings, to experience--as it were--her full palette.

LET YOURSELF GO from 2001 is as good a sampling as you could hope for. A solid mix of peppy, witty showtunes and heartfelt ballads, all sung with what we critics and would-be critics like to call "genuine flair." She's got the stuff, and she knows how to use it.

Of course, all popular music is, at least in part, selling an artist's personality. Chenowith's impressive vocal prowess would not necessarily guarantee stardom if she weren't so charming and, as John Lahr observes in his liner notes, so downright wholesome. Like Bernadette Peters and rock's Cyndi Lauper, she has a somewhat comic, Betty Boopesque speaking voice, but is capable of turning around and blowing an audience away with sheer vocal power.

Employing all that natural charm and wit, Chenoweth can get away with vocalizing stunts that might seem way too show-offy on paper. Her take on "The Girl in 14G" has her alternating operatic trills with very convincing, very Ella-like scatting. In less hands, it might prove WAAAY too cute. But I defy any listener to listen to Chenoweth's triple-tracked vocal pyrotechnics and not be suitably impressed, if not fully enraptured. Ultimately, the song is about the sheer joy of singing, and Kristin Chenoweth's take on it conveys that joy. And if there's a little bit of showboating going on, well, it's done with warmth and humor and, anyway, the girl's ENTITLED.

The album is beautifully orchestrated and very well sequenced. A light hearted number like the above mentioned "14G" is followed by the sensitively rendered Rodgers and Hart number "I'll Tell the Man On the Street," which proves that the young Barbra Streisand did not OWN that song after all.

The inclusion of the Ogden Nash/Kurt Weill classic "Stranger Here Myself" did make me hungry for something even edgier, though. Yes, I could imagine Chenoweth doing BRECHT/Weill as well. In noting her wholesome appeal, John Lahr suggests that she is something of a throwback to an era of lighter, more innocent musical theater. I take the point, but I disagree that she would not be a good candidate for a Sondheim production. Lahr maintains that Chenoweth is not "desiccated" enough for Sondheim. But surely, he of all people would be appreciative of the benefits of casting against type. After all, the above cited Bernadette has been doing it for years. And even Cyndi made a her Broadway debut a year or so ago doing Brecht/Weill. I could well see the already versatile Ms Chenoweth getting a little, how you say, edgier?

Kristin Chenoweth won a Tony for the supporting role of Sally Brown in the 1999 revival ofYou're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, made a memorably vampy Lily in the 1999 television film ofAnnie, and had an NBC sitcom created for her,Kristin! Now she grabs the spotlight inLet Yourself Go, her first solo recording. She mixes torchy standards ("My Funny Valentine," "How Long Has This Been Going On?") with Faith Prince-style sauciness ("If"), gets to show off her operatic and scat chops in the miniplay "The Girl in 14G," and shares a light duet with Jason Alexander (reviving his musical theater career post-Seinfeld). Perhaps her "Stranger Here Myself" isn't the weightiest you've ever heard, but this is an enjoyable album with a good deal of old-fashioned class, expertly accompanied by Rob Fisher and the Coffee Club Orchestra.--David Horiuchi

(The Sweet Hereafter of Bogus Film Criticism)

(3 stars out of 4)

(Great Acting&Moving Story)

(bone chilling drama at its best)

(Hauntingly beautiful!!)
'The Sweet Hereafter' concerns the tragic effect of a school bus crash on the townspeople in a rural town. Many critics were afraid to judge the film on its own merits and placed it on a pedestal where they declared such a film "off limits" to any kind of real criticism. Unconsciously the subject matter affected their judgments. Here was a film about a very delicate subject--the death of innocent children. The characters in the film (parents of the deceased children) were all shattered. It was as if criticizing the film was akin to criticizing these parents as well as any parent who had experienced such a tragic loss. But from the point of view of effective drama, the film is virtually a complete failure. Very little of it rings true at all.

Except for some very nice cinematography and an affecting musical score, 'The Sweet Hereafter' plods along at a snail's pace. The director's intent is to display the range of emotions these parents felt in the aftermath of losing their children. But what is so profound about focusing on such grief? The main character, a negligence lawyer, goes around the town convincing the parents to join in a class action lawsuit against the unspecified person or situation which caused the terrible accident. Most of the parents he sees agree to join the lawsuit (a lot of these scenes with the parents are drawn out and could have been easily condensed). The lawyer finally encounters one man who gives him a hard time. This is perhaps the most dramatic conflict that comes up during the film. But this one towns person's opposition to joining the lawsuit is completely vague. Why is he so against joining the lawsuit? Why is so angry at the lawyer? Because he feels the lawyer is profiting at the expense of the townspeople? Even so, is it really believable that he doesn't want to get to the bottom of what happened as opposed to simply dropping the whole case?

The ending of the film is even more unbelievable. The negligence lawyer never seems to have a definitive plan to try the case. He alludes to various factors that caused the accident, such as a faulty guard rail or a defective bolt inside the bus. A real negligence lawyer would never have taken such a huge case in the first place without feeling that he could be successful. It almost seems like he thinks that he uncover the 'truth' during the discovery process. A real lawyer would have already had some tangible evidence (already uncovered) that would have convinced him to go forward. Furthermore, when the young survivor lies in her deposition, stating that the bus driver was driving too fast, the seemingly smart lawyer folds up like a deck of cards and decides not to cross-examine her. A real lawyer could have made mince-meat of her but he chooses to quit the case and leave all his clients in the lurch. In real life he probably would have been hauled in front of an ethics board.

And why does the young survivor decide to lie in the end? Why does she lie knowing that she is accusing the innocent bus driver? Why does she want to case to 'go away'? Is it that she's so traumatized by the accident that she simply wants to forget about it? Everything is left so open and vague in this film that we never understand any of the characters' motivations.

Lastly, there's a lot of lame talk (mostly over the phone) between the lawyer and his drug-addicted, rebellious daughter. Seemingly there's supposed to be some kind of parallel between the lawyer's personal angst and the angst of the townspeople (this is the lawyer's defense when that one townspeople berates him before the climactic deposition scene). All this conflict between the lawyer and the daughter is gratuitous and simply does not work cinematically. We hardly ever see those two characters together and their conflict is basically a separate story which has no real place in this film.

The Sweet Hereafter basically lacks substance. It congratulates itself for displaying the raw emotion of grief but lacks a central antagonist to engage us. An examination of grief in itself is not enough to sustain an entire story. Whenever conflicts do arise in this film, they are episodic, unclearly motivated and for the most part, lacking the ring of truth. If you're strictly into atmosphere and mood, this is the film for you. But if you're looking for a strong story arc with convincing conflicts, you will not find it in 'The Sweet Hereafter'.

The Bottom Line:

Overpraised in many quarters, The Sweet Hereafter is a well-crafted look into the lives of people who have had their lives racked by tragedy, but its clinical detachment and an unnecessary incest subplot prevent Egoyan's film from achieving greatness.

Many other reviewers have long said this story is depressing; it's true.

I found the movie quite disturbing, but real. The acting was raw and every character well developed and well acted. I did feel the story was flat and slow paced in parts and I did not like the ending.

This is not something I plan to own or ever watch again, but it is worth seeing.

The Sweet Hereafter is a film you're not likely to forget anytime soon. The movie portrays human beings as they can really be--greedy, confused after a huge tragic loss, in denial of guilt and more. The plot moves along at a good pace and the storyline is absolutely fascinating. Unfortunately, this movie is not for everyone since the plot is rather haunting and dark; this is anything but a family film. The actors do a superb job and the cinematography is excellent.

When the action begins, an ambulance chasing lawyer Mitchell Stevens (played by Ian Holm) races up to a small Canadian town after a school bus accident has cost the lives of most of the small town's children. Mitchell approaches the townsfolk to build a huge lawsuit against the people whom he believes he can determine to be guilty for having caused the accident. Perhaps the school bus wasn't regularly maintained--or maybe the manufacturer of the bus used poor quality bolts; Mitchell doesn't care, he just wants a piece of the action.

Of course, some embrace the idea of a lawsuit--but yet others want to forget about any trial and they make no bones about it. In particular, look for Tom McCamus who plays Sam Burnell, a father with a dirty secret and Sarah Polley plays Sam's daughter Nicole. While Sam wants the lawsuit to pay medical bills and probably make a buck off this lemon, his daughter Nicole is not so comfortable with this idea. We come to see that so many of the townsfolk have dark secrets of their own; and even the lawyer Mitchell Stevens has a rather troubled relationship with his daughter Zoë (played wonderfully by Caerthan Banks). There is also the very emotionally scarred bus driver who survived the accident, Dolores Discolt (Gabrielle Rose), who eventually makes it plain that she doesn't want to be judged in a court of law by a jury made up of people who don't know her at all.

As secrets and the rest of the plot unfold, questions arise: Will Dolores change her mind about the lawsuit and want it after all? What about the father of two children who saw the tragedy as he followed the bus in his pickup--will Billy (Bruce Greenwood) ever change his mind and decide a lawsuit is a good idea? And what about Mitchell's own relationship with his daughter Zoë--is there any hope for things to get better between the two of them? Keep an eye out for excellent, practically seamless flashbacks and flash forwards that really impress me with just how smoothly they are woven into the film.

The DVD comes with a plethora of extras: we get an audio commentary by film director Adam Egoyan; and there is a Charlie Rose interview with Egoyan as well. I especially liked the "Q&A" extra with several members of the cast. We even get some biographies and filmographies, too.

All in all, The Sweet Hereafter is an excellent film that I highly recommend. Reserve it for a time when you can handle a heavy film about people and how they can truly be when confronted with a seemingly insurmountable loss. You won't regret watching it.

I saw this movie after I had read about it in a list of 100 daring movies. It truly is, in so many ways. The scene with the school bus is one I will never forget. There are many layers to this movie, and I enjoyed them.
In synopsisThe Sweet Hereaftermay sound like a devastatingly unpleasant downer, but don't be discouraged. The real subjects of this luminous picture (adapted by director Atom Egoyan from Russell Banks's novel) are hope and renewal--avoiding the cheap emotions suggested by those clichéd terms. Like other Egoyan films (Exotica, for one), it's an intriguing sort of mystery, a puzzle in which the big picture is not revealed until the very last piece is in place. A metropolitan attorney (Ian Holm) travels to a small British Columbian town where 14 children have been killed in a school bus accident to prepare a class-action suit. With sensitivity and empathy, he approaches relatives with promises that the suit will give focus and closure to their grief. And as he investigates the circumstances of the accident, he not only uncovers a few local secrets, but dredges up some painful pieces of his own past. Slowly, deeper mysteries are revealed--eternal mysteries at the very heart of human nature: Who is to blame for a tragedy like this? And why do people feel such a need to assign blame? Is that how they give meaning to otherwise inconceivable events? How does one reassemble a shattered life? The Sweet Hereafteris too honest to offer bromides, but it shows how a few people struggle, as best they can, to answer these questions for themselves. DVD extras include audio commentary by Egoyan and Banks, a Charlie Rose interview with Egoyan, and a panel discussion with the filmmakers.--Jim Emerson

(4:3!!!!)

(Talk about Big Brother!)

(Another view of 1984)

(One of my favorites)

(Very good film and the wide screen anamophic is available!)
I knew going in that this was a 4:3 NOT 16:9 movie but I remember this movie from years ago and enjoyed it. Only 1 star because of the aspect ratio, 4 stars for the movie.

Note to studios: The dual sides DVDs with 4:3 on one side and 16:9 on the other side are bad enough but this is the 21st century. Get those movies out in their original formats!!!

While I'll admit that I haven't bought the film, I taped it when it was on t.v. a few years back, and reading the criticisms that it's not on the advertised wide screen, I won't buy it.

What I find most interesting about this film is that reviewers don't seem to notice the reality about Colossus which I believe is a Big Brother version of Government as a whole. Colossus was invented by a man who figured a computer could run things efficiently the only difference being is that those in Government can curb their feelings and care whereas Colussus is unable to care or feel because its a machine. But alas, Colossus got full of itself, just like Government, in its ability to control. Why is it terrible for a computer to be the same?

We threaten war with each other. Colussus wanted to stop war. How dare it!

We threaten to nuke people, but when Colussus actually did nuke a place in Russia, the characters were outraged. How dare this computer actually do what Man threatens with impunity with his own weapons invented soly for destruction!

Forbin didn't much care for Colussus 'watching' his personal life in his home, yet people have long accepted going into stores and being 'watched' by cameras, and speed cameras taking pictures of them. Only when we're personally affected do we become suddenly outraged by the lack of privacy not caring about others' privacy being affected.

Just as people are used to Government watching everything they do, down to even dictating who can and can't marry, Forbin and the gang will eventually get used to Colussus taking over and go "Wow! How did we manage without him!" just as people think that about a Government we always complain about when something goes bad, adores when everything goes right, while at the same time continually allowing politicians to run everything.

Colussus The Forbin Project should serve as a very real warning. Whether it be a computer designed by Man, or Government designed by people, we have to make the hard decision. Do we really need others overseeing us, or will we one day make a stand and start ruling ourselves without some form of Big Brother sitting on his throne for a change. Until that day arrives, Colussus-The Forbin Project is just a scary reminder of what's already happening.

This is a very interesting look at what could happen if computers are allowed to have control. It's a 70's view of the idea behind "The Terminator". A must have for classic Sci-Fi fans.
I had watched Colossus - the Forbin Project a number of years ago on cable and was immediately hooked. It became then and remains today one of my all time favorites.

I was impressed with how well thought out and executed this film was. One could certainly guess that the Terminator films, among others, were heavily inspired by this movie. Even if the goals of Colossus are far more altruistic for mankind than Skynet's.

It was truly interesting to see Eric Braeden so young. He's still immediately recognizable though, if you ever watch daytime soaps; all though one must admit Forbin is the complete opposite of today's Victor Nueman.

Then you have Susan Clark (wife of for NFL star Alex Karras), who would many years later be known as Webster's [adoptive] mom. And Marion Ross of Happy Days fame and Dolph Sweet of Gimme a Break!

You won't go wrong with the film. Personally, I think it's one of the best techno-thriller films out there - easily on par with the Terminator, Wargames, and the Net films.

Stay away from this ugly pan and scan and instead consider MGM's European PAL region 2 version (if your DVD player can handle it) - The PAL 2 is a near perfect, beautiful, anamorphic wide screen. You can find the PAL copy at Amazon UK or I bought mine from xploitedcinema.com. Colossus's plausible plot combines three elements - the cold war, computers running amuck, and a doomsday scenario. Many similar elements can be found in War Games, Star Trek (VGER), Andromeda Strain, Doctor Strangelove, The Day The Earth Stood Still and Fail Safe. The basic ideas and premise, acting, directing, and set design work well together and make for an exciting and thoughtful film. I particularly liked when the computer's first start to chat with each other and their tantrum-like demand for communication. Colossus never earned classic status - my guess that was due to a trite sounding title, a mostly unknown cast, a subjective ending, and a sometimes visable thin layer of Hollywood-cheese spread. Otherwise there is little to complain about the film - for the most part Colossus is a cool film and deserves high standing on all Sci-Fi lists.

(great soundtrack)

(Good intentions, bad script)

(FINALLY,THE LOST MAN IS FOUND!)
This is a good movie about explosive late 60s race relations. But the soundtrack is not listed on Amazon. So I will use the movie entry to review the soundtack.

Quincy Jones, one of the absolute best film composers of this time, wrote the Lost Man Soundtrack, and it is excellent. It holds a lot of soul and blues by unknown singers, and lots of electrified flutes and heavy fuzz bass. It is typlically outstanding work by Jones, who understood jazz and blues better than any composer of the period. He also understood how to exploit tone color to get the maximum tension from the film.

The music, however, holds up beautifully on its own, and I would encourage
anyone to seek out this soundtrack on vynal, until someone has the good sense to reissue The Lost Man score.

Starting with a gripping, truly firstclass title score and equally touching, well fotographed views of Philadelphia's poor downtown neighbourhoods, this film spirals gradually downward and left me disappointed. The script ist bad: Most of the time people stand around and don't really have to say much to each other - you almost feel pity for the actors who certainly would have been able to deliver better performances, if the script had allowed them to.
The movie is based on the same story as Carol Reed's Odd Man Out - in my opinion one of the best movies of all times. Odd Man Out focuses on the main character, his doubts, his desperation and the reaction of the people he meets as a helpless, severely wounded man on the run after falling off a getaway car rushing from the scene of a robbery he had planned.
The Lost Man, by comparison, does never appear to be really lost. He can contact his friends easily after he escapes alone from the scene of the robbery, despite a bullet wound he appears to be in perfect physical condition, and apparently it poses no problem to pass through road blocks as long as you have a social worker handy who loves you, does not question your motives - and owns a station wagon. I suppose that the attitudes of the characters can be explained by the political and social climate of the late Sixties but it is sad that nobody let Sidney Poitier do in this film what James Mason did in Odd Man out.

THIS MOVIE IS THE FIRST TRUE BLAXPLOITATION FILM, LONG BEFORE THERE WAS A SWEETBACK, SHAFT, OR SUPERFLY. SIDNEY POITIER'S PERFORMANCE, AS ALWAYS, STANDS OUT. AT THE TIME THIS MOVIE WAS ORIGINALLY RELEASED (1969), THE CRITICS AND THE PUBLIC CRITICIZED MR. POITIER FOR BEING THE PERFECT NEGRO IN HIS PREVIOUS FILMS (IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT, GUESS WHO COMING TO DINNER, THE SLENDER THREAD, DUEL AT DIABLO,ETC). HOWEVER, IN THE LOST MAN, MR. POITIER PORTRAYS A 1960'S REVOLUTIONARY WHO MASTERMINDS A DARING ROBBERY THAT GOES WRONG AND PLACES HIM ON THE RUN FROM THE POLICE. A FINE SUPPORTING CAST WITH A EDGE OF THE SEAT, NAIL-BITING CLIMAX THAT WILL LEAVE YOU BREATHLESS.FOR A FILM THAT IS CLOSE TO 40 YEARS OLD, THE MOVIE STILL HOLDS UP VERY WELL AND IS ANOTHER PIECE OF THE POWERFUL BODY OF FILM WORK OF SIDNEY POITIER.

(gable make facial expressions)

(Post-WWII Shift in Journalism Ethos Lends Heft to an Expertly Played May-December Rom-Com)

(Romantic Comedy)

(They Didn't Call Him the KING for Nothing!)

(Teacher's Pet)
If you love Gable movies, you will love this one. Gable's facial expressions in this movie are great, worth the price of the dvd..

Directed by George Seaton (Miracle on 34th Street), this coyly titled 1958 romantic comedy has more on its mind than mistaken identities and the May-December relationship at its core. Running a bit too long at 120 minutes, it's actually an intriguing look at the shifting journalism ethos of the late 1950's when hardcore, Front Page-style newspapermen were begrudgingly making way for reporters with college degrees. It should come as no surprise that Clark Gable represents the former as Jim Gannon, the no-nonsense editor of the fictitious New York Evening Chronicle, at odds with journalism teacher Erica Kane played with sophisticatedélan by Doris Day, who was just embarking on her most fruitful period as an actress with her near-classic pairings with Rock Hudson soon to follow.

Written by Fay and Michael Kanin, the plot has the self-made Gannon bristling at the thought of lecturing at Kane's night school journalism class. When his boss forces him, Gannon reconsiders when he sees that Kane is a pretty blonde but is soon forced to take on the identity of wallpaper salesman Jim Gallagher when she humiliates him by reading out loud to her class the nasty letter he wrote her. The ruse continues as Gannon decides to prove that journalism classes are a sham and that nothing replaces the first-hand experience of working in a newsroom. Things get complicated when he becomes her star pupil and sees his competition for Kane's affections, the dapper Dr. Hugo Pine, a self-effacing overachiever who happens to be a much-published psychologist, an expert mambo dancer, a polyglot, and a smooth bongo player. You can pretty much figure out the rest.

As Gannon/Gallagher, the 57-year-old Gable was near the end of his career, and he looks tired and paunchy here. Fortunately, he provides enough of his recognizable swagger and snap to get away with the hard-boiled aspects of the role. At this point in her career, Day had already moved securely away from the lightweight musical comedies that were her forte and into leading lady parts with surprising aplomb. Underneath the manicured schoolteacher veneer, she brings a wholesome yet mature sexiness to Kane that makes the age gap between her and Gable less of an issue than one would expect. Playing his standard role of third wheel, Gig Young does an agile turn as the too-good-to-be-true Dr. Pine. Nick Adams (who would attempt to seduce Day the following year as a carefree college boy in Pillow Talk) has a small part as Barney, the copy boy desperate to become a reporter, while Marilyn Monroe-wannabe Mamie Van Doren has a memorable bit as Gannon's showgirl squeeze. That is indeed a young Marion Ross (later Mrs. Cunningham of Happy Days) as Kane's secretary Katy. There are no extras with the 2005 DVD.

If you are a Doris Day or Clark Gable fan then you are in for a real treat. I thought this was a terrific movie that I remember watching years ago, and Amazon sells this at such a reasonable price.
Gable is a gruff, battle scarred, school of hard knocks Lion of journalism, running his pride of employees with as much feeling as the time he has to get out a deadline, which is to say, hardly any. But you can tell he's well liked so there's a soft spot there, proven by the two young journalist cubs he's keeping his very critical eye on. By orders from the top, he is forced to attend Doris Day's night class of journalism, where he had sent a very sarcastic response to her request to have him give a lecture. He gets one look at Doris Day and decides to sit in and listen. His reactions to her starting off the class by reading his letter are just priceless and had me laughing out loud. And then the fun begins. Bring in an over-educated yet extremely modest and self-deprecating, hilarious Gig Young as a rival for Doris Day and you've got yourself one big cat with his fur up! The cocktail lounge scene of Gig Young being able to outdance, outdrink and outbongo Gable, and Gables reactions to them, are absolutely priceless! Gable was truly a world weary lion at this stage of his life, but his comedic timing, acting and bearing still spelled KING. While watching this movie, I found myself always looking at him, even when someone else was in the scene. Doris Day and Gig Young were in their prime and were gorgeous and sexy, yet, I could barely tear my eyes from Gable. Joan Crawford said of him in a book she wrote, that one time she was at a cocktail party and suddenly everything stopped and everyone felt compelled to look at the doorway. There stood Clark Gable. He was just standing there looking around, yet his presence stopped the room. Presence! You've either got it or you don't. Gable had it! Long Live the King's movies. Watch it if you get the chance.
This is a delightful movie -- and CLEAN! I was disappointed when I discovered it didn't fill my TV screen (guess you can get it both ways but I didn't notice that on the order blank.)

I've watched it a few times since receiving it. Gotta love Doris Day and Clark Gable.

Jim gannon is a school-of-hard-knocks newspaper man who despises journalism schools .. Until he sees whos doing the teaching. Attracted to lovely professor erica stone he masquerades as a novice in her class. Soon hes her prized pupil all while trying to make her his own prize. Studio: Paramount Home Video Release Date: 01/17/2006 Starring: Doris Day Gig Young Run time: 119 minutes Rating: Nr Director: George Seaton
Clark Gable's bluff masculinity is a big part of the story and appeal ofTeacher's Pet, to such a degree that his age (near 60) doesn't seem like such a problem as he romances perky Doris Day. Gable is an old-school newspaperman who scoffs at the idea of journalism being taught in night school; hard knocks and shoe leather are his preferred textbooks. Naturally, Doris teaches journalism in night school. Gable masquerades as an inexperienced student in order to prove her wrong, which brings forth some fairly labored complications, presented in pedestrian style by director George Seaton. The film is too long for its own good, but as an illustration of movie-star value, it's a convincer--Gable and Day are completely, effortlessly within their established personas. Gig Young adds pep as a brainy psychologist (whose expertise extends to hangover recipes--he and Gable have a good morning-after scene). Doris sings the incorrigibly catchy title song over the opening credits, but stick around for Mamie Van Doren's nightclub rendition of "The Girl Who Invented Rock 'n Roll," a real eye-roller.--Robert Horton

(The Human Condition)

(Excellent!)

(olmoviebuff)

(Essential boxset for fans of American theater of the 1950s)

(A Boxed Set Named Tennessee Williams)
Tennessee Williams, along with the sensitivities of fine actors, enables us to empathize and identify with people--people who are recognizable to us. These people are ordinary people with all of their flaws and occasional displays of grace. Williams unflinchingly investigates the experiences that shape personalities. He brings us face-to-face with the rawest human emotions, the demons that sometimes drive each of us, and the compassion that people can feel for even the unattractive, mean, and hurting people with whom we interact. We may not have had the life experience Williams investigates in a play. Williams shows us, however, the many layers of complex weaving that makes a human being. We realize that the characterization in his play is not as cut-and-dried as we first thought. Are we seeing coping techniques and responses that we often mistakenly perceive as character weaknesses? Is submerged pain expressed as physical brutality? We can take with us the revelation that can find within us the ability to be more compassionate people. And that we have just been shown another person's technique for survival. "South" is a revealing interview of Williams and an informative, pleasurable time of watching him describe aspects of his life's work. This set of plays shines with the benchmarks performances of Elizabeth Taylor and Marlan Brando along with the unforgettable portrayals by Vivien Leigh and the inimitable Karl Malden and Burl Ives.
I got this as a gift for my sister who's a big TW fan and she LOVED it!
well worth the price. I have enjoyed watching the films and am pleased to have the collection containing Williams interview.
This is a terrific boxset, collecting six of the films based on Tennessee Williams's plays (plus another disc with the documentary "Tennessee Williams' South"). All the films are transferred with great care, and look quite wonderful. And the films themselves are fascinating, because (with the exception of BABY DOLL), they're invariably sanitized, as the major studios (Warner Brothers, MGM) struggled to constrain the unfettered imagination of one of America's most floridly uninihibited playwrights. Yet Williams' reputation as one of the premiere writers for actors allows some classic performances, starting with Marlon Brando, Vivien Leigh, Karl Malden and Kim Hunter in A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE, one of the most potent displays of Method acting which helped to revolutionize American film and theater. Kazan's hyperbolic direction of A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE is tempered in BABY DOLL, possibly the most charming film in the set (with terrific performances from Carroll Baker, Karl Malden, Eli Wallach, and, most hilariously, Mildred Dunnock). It seems incredible that, at the time (1956), BABY DOLL was the most controversial film of its year, with condemnation and cries of "filth" being bandied about. But BABY DOLL is a comic interlude in Williams' career. CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF is the most heavily censored, so that all the talk of mendacity makes the film seem mendacious, because no one is talking about what the film is really about. But all the actors go to town with their Southern accents, especially Elizabeth Taylor and Judith Anderson.

But if CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF seems antiseptic, that's nothing compared to SWEET BIRD OF YOUTH, which is alternately lurid and dainty. To watch Geraldine Page rip through in an absolutely corrosive and riveting performance is to see one of America's greatest actresses at her peak. THE NIGHT OF THE IGUANA is uneven, but, again, some of the performances (in particular, Richard Burton, Ava Gardner, and, especially, Deborah Kerr and Cyril Delevanti) are superb. The long sequence with Burton and Kerr talking about demons and love while Burton is tied in the hammock is one of the most poetic sequences in all of Williams, handled with great insight and power.

THE ROMAN SPRING OF MRS. STONE has worn well with the years, as Vivien Leigh gives an elegant performance as the aging woman desperate for love nad even more desperate for her dignity.

Of course, these are all works which could be done now with a greater fidelity to Williams' original texts, but it would be hard to beat the incredible performances, done (in many cases) in the original acting styles of the period (in STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE and SWEET BIRD OF YOUTH, many of the original Broadway casts were also cast in the films). This is a chance to see some legendary actors in the classic parts which they made famous.

He may be considered the great American playwright of the 20th Century, but until I got the boxed set of DVDs featuring adaptations of his works, I had never really been exposed to Tennessee Williams. This set of six movies gives a good sampling of Williams and shows why he got his reputation for both daring and excellence.

In chronological order by film date, the first film in the set (and probably the best) is A Streetcar Named Desire. This story focuses on the interrelationship of three characters: Blanche DuBois (played by Vivien Leigh), her sister Stella (Kim Hunter) and Stella's husband, Stanley Kowalski (Marlon Brando). Blanche moves in with the couple, fleeing from scandal in her hometown and with only a weak grip on sanity. The brutish Stanley is her natural antagonist, with Stella stuck in the middle. Eventually, however, Blanche and Stanley will have to confront each other.

Though Blanche may be the main character, it is Stanley who steals the show due to Brando's wonderful performance. After seeing this movie, I can understand how significant of an impact that Brando had in the world of movie acting; prior to Streetcar, acting performances like Brando's were quite rare. This is a great film, and the only Williams movie I was really familiar with prior to watching, both due to its immortal scenes ("Stella!") and the brilliant Simpsons musical adaptation (in "A Streetcar Named Marge").

Next is Baby Doll, with Karl Malden as an impoverished cotton-miller and Carroll Baker as his very young wife, the Baby Doll of the title. She has been viewing her much older spouse with increasing contempt and has held him to a promise that they would not consummate their marriage until she turned 20, an event soon to happen. Eli Wallach enters the film as both a business and romantic rival to Malden. For the time this movie was made (1956), this film was sexually daring, and though not as explicit as modern movies, it still holds up well.

Cat on a Hot Tin Roof features Maggie (Elizabeth Taylor) and Brick (Paul Newman) as a married couple on the edge. A deep secret has kept them estranged and there is the additional complication of the impending death of Brick's very wealthy and dominating father. Brick may be Big Daddy's favorite, but their problems threatens to cut Brick out of an inheritance he doesn't want; Maggie, however, has other ideas.

Newman is back in a different role in Sweet Bird of Youth as a young hustler who returns to his hometown as the lover/employee of an aging actress. He is hopeful that she will help him make it big in Hollywood, but he is also interested in winning back his old girlfriend, a goal her corrupt political boss father will do anything to stop.

Night of the Iguana has Richard Burton as a drunken reverend turned third-rate tour guide winding up at a hotel run by the widow (Ava Gardner) of an old friend. His job is threatened when a young tourist (played by Sue Lyons of Lolita fame) keeps trying to seduce him. As things fall apart for him, it's up to the widow and an artist (Deborah Kerr) to keep him from destroying himself.

Finally, there is The Roman Spring of Mrs. Stone, featuring Vivien Leigh as a recently widowed actress who takes a young lover (played by an early Warren Beatty). This is probably the weakest in the set, and the only one I felt rather bored while watching.

Actually, there is a problem that is consistent with many of these movies in that they often just seem like filmed plays. That is, everything seems very staged and there is little real action; the focus is on dialogue, which often takes the somewhat formal form you see in the theater. That is not to say that these are bad movies; actually, they are almost all good: Streetcar is a five star film, Baby Doll, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and Sweet Bird of Youth merit four, Night three and Roman Spring two. There are also a good number of extras in the set, including commentaries on Streetcar and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, a bunch of mini-documentaries and a bonus disc called Tennessee Williams' South. This bonus disc is an early-1970s documentary featuring interviews with Williams and various actors doing scenes from his plays; it is mildly interesting.

One does not watch Williams expecting happy endings and everything nicely resolved (although some of the films do end more upbeat than others, in part, I believe because of a Hollywood demand for such conclusions, despite how the plays may have been written). Instead, you get a level and type of drama that was rarely shown prior to the Williams. Overall, this set rates a high four stars; it may not be perfect, but you do get some good films that pushed the limits of what was allowed at the time.

Studio: Warner Home Video Release Date: 05/02/2006
A much-needed DVD tribute to one of the essential American playwrights,The Tennessee Williams Collectiongathers six Williams titles and one vintage documentary. Taken together, it's a potent introduction to the specific terrain (geographical and emotional) of this brilliant writer. The set is anchored by Warner's deluxe two-disc treatment ofA Streetcar Named Desire, which has copious extras (among them a fine 90-minute documentary about director Elia Kazan). The multi-Oscar-winningStreetcaris one of the better stage adaptations in film history, and it captures the electrifying Marlon Brando, re-creating his stage role, in the part that changed American acting: the brutish New Orleans sensualist Stanley Kowalski. Vivien Leigh won an Oscar opposite him, as the faded (except in her own mind) Southern belle Blanche DuBois, whose arrival in the Kowalski home leads to disaster.

Kazan also directedBaby Doll, which Williams scripted from a couple of one-act plays. This outrageous sex comedy casts the excellent Carroll Baker as the 19-year-old wife of middle-aged Karl Malden, who anxiously awaits the day he can finally consummate his maddening marriage; immigrant cotton magnate Eli Wallach shows up at Malden's crumbling plantation house just in time to take the bloom off the rose, as it were. Famous for being condemned in 1956,Baby Dollremains a very modern (and gloriously dirty) movie.Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, directed by Richard Brooks, faithfully brings three of Williams's indelible characters to the screen, even if the script discreetly changes the original stage text: the hot Maggie the Cat (Elizabeth Taylor), her reluctant husband Brick (Paul Newman), and Brick's rich Big Daddy (Burl Ives). All three performers act the lights out.

Sweet Bird of Youthreunites Paul Newman with director Brooks, and also showcases Geraldine Page's performance as an aging film star tagging along with young stud Newman to his Southern home town. Some of Williams' more depraved touches are toned down, but the milieu is unmistakable and the movie is intense. The Night of the Iguanagives Richard Burton perhaps his finest hour onscreen: as Williams' dissolute defrocked priest, playing tour guide in Puerto Vallarta to tour groups of nattering biddies. The movie has director John Huston's sympathy for life's losers, as well as a trio of women built to torment Burton's reverend: Ava Gardner, Deborah Kerr, and Sue Lyon. The Roman Spring of Mrs. Stone, based on Williams's novel, is not a great movie, but gives Vivien Leigh a good workout as a wounded actress dallying with Italian gigolo Warren Beatty.

Tennessee Williams' Southis a 1973 documentary featuring some marvelous observations from Williams, as he holds court for filmmaker Harry Rasky. It also has long scenes from his plays, enacted by good folks such as Maureen Stapleton, Colleen Dewhurst, and Burl Ives. Especially valuable is aStreetcarsequence with Jessica Tandy re-creating her original role as Blanche. Williams himself reads the narration fromThe Glass Menagerie, a privileged moment. This is not an exhaustive Williams set (Joseph Mankiewicz'sSuddenly, Last Summerand Sidney Lumet'sThe Fugitive Kindare among the best Williams films), but it maps out the steamy, tortured landscape awfully well.--Robert Horton

(A classic)

(An American Tail DVD)

(A childhood favorite.)

(Great movie about immigration)

(Masterpiece)
Bought to share with my son. Ofcourse he loved it and I still enjoy it as well, it takes me back to simpler days. Nice to see they enhanced with dolby for a nice home theater effect.
I received my DVD very quickly and in great condition. I would definately recommend this seller! I was very pleased!
This has been a favorite since I was a little girl. Watching it again as an adult I was not disappointed. It has a very charming story with lovable characters and great songs. You can't go wrong. I only wish it had the original art work.
I just love this movie. It was one of the very first movies I saw when I moved to the U.S. in 1991. I still watch it and cry and laugh. It reminds me of the ideals that my family as immigrants had about coming to live in the U.S. Its a favorite of my mother for whom I bought it for Christmas.
One of the best animated films of all time!!! Your collection is not complete until you own this one!
VOICE TALENTS OF: DOM DELUISE, MADELINE KAHN, CATHIANNE BLORE...ETC.
Don Bluth'sAn American Tailis based on the story of a young Russian mouse who is separated from his family in America and who later heads with his reunited kin out to the American West. It's pleasant, though not spectacular, and has its greatest problems in story development. Steven Spielberg produced with an eye toward creating animation hits outside of Disney, and he and Bluth certainly took a big step in that direction here. Kids like it a lot, and adults will warm to the sound of various familiar voices, such as Dom DeLuise as Tiger and Madeline Kahn as Gussie Mausheimer. It's also the source of the pop single "Somewhere Out There."--Tom Keogh

(Great price on a favorite)

(To the back of the room with you, Mund.)

(Mambo for Men)

(guys/girls)

(Mambo Cologne)
No matter how many colognes my better half buys, he always returns to Mambo for men as his favorite. My (women's) Mambo was one his favorites and when a male version came out I bought for him to try and he's been hooked ever since.
Mambo has helped me meet girls&guys, it's helped me have FUN, but it kept me from sitting in the nice chairs
at Gary's during the Superbowl. Yes, I had to sit on a stool in the back with faa faa. But, it was a comfortable stool. Or was, until Rchard woke me up with those damn cymbals. T-O-P-L-E-S-S. You got a problem with that?

This is the only cologne I will purchase for my husband. Very nice. The fragrance includes: orange, bergamot, musk, patchouli, sandalwood and spirited fir balsam. I would highly recommend it if you like a "musky-type" smell.
I bought this to meet girls and guys, whats your problem. Its driving the regular girls nuts.
The cologne is great. I have no problems with it. I received it within the shipping timeframe and the product was in great condition.
The soul of the fragrance is a rhythmic blend of lusty patchouli, addictive musks, irresistible sandalwood and spirited fir balsam.

(Enjoy Life cookies)

(Delicious)

(One star because they are soft)

(My daughter loves these!)

(blech)
These cookies are delicious. I originally started buying them for my daughters who both had wheat, egg and peanut allergies. They have both outgrown the wheat allergy, but I still buy them because they enjoy them so much.
These are some of the best cookies out there! I tend to eat an entire box at one sitting.
Oh am I absolutely heartbroken that these are so terrible. I thought from the reviews - so many, that these would be different than all the other natural, allergy free, gluten free, wheat free blah blah blah that I've tried. When there's one or two 5 star/4 star on this kind of product I don't order it because I chalk it up to either people who never enjoyed "fully loaded food" but have always been limited in diet and so in comparison to the other choices, they probably are good - or people like some I know who really don't care about taste, as long as it says the right thing on the package, they think it's great. Me, I've been modifying my diet relatively recently (a few years) due to severe allergies that literally make me feel like I might not recover from the reaction to some foods I have always eaten. Everything I eat since this started is like a cross your fingers and hope it's ok, pray while I suffer through a reaction and be thrilled when it's over, or add to the list of food I can still eat and do the "I can eat it " dance. Certain preservatives are a huge culprit but so are other things so it's always a test. I thought maybe I found one of those nothing bad in it foods that I could tolerate and would taste good. These are terrible -I won't know until tomorrow if I can tolerate them but it doesn't matter, I didn't even want to finish the first cookie. They deserve a star for being soft-that's rare in low allergen foods. But they don't taste anything like a snickerdoodle, they taste like a day old bran muffin with cinnamon on top and you can absolutely tell that they are "nothing in it" food - if not while eating it (which is obvious to me) the after taste is an absolute giveaway, just like all the rest. The only decent thing beyond soft is a little cinnamon taste but that can't overcome the non-sweet sweeteners that curse all allergy free products in my opinion and nothing can help the grainy texture. I'm truly heartbroken. I want a DECENT sweet that is safe! These are so grainy, cakelike but dry - not like a glass of milk could cure it dry - just grainy dry - must be the flaxseed. It's better than some products I've tried but not edible-at least not as long as I can eat other foods. My experience with allergy free food has not been the greatest so I try everything I can and some foods that are not free of everything are tolerated while some foods that are everything free can still give me a reaction, just less likely so I'd rather have low risk experimental food-it's just such a bummer when they aren't any good. I envy all of you who can enjoy them, I wish I could but the taste, the aftertaste and the texture are three strikes and just too much for me.
My daughter who is allergic to wheat, milk and eggs loves these cookies. When we are eating out and she can not have the food we have, I usually feed her meal before we go the restaurant and then she enjoys 1 or 2 of these cookies while we are having our meal. That way she is having something special and we get to eat out too without feeling bad that she is left out.
These are pretty terrible. Do yourself a favor and use some gluten free flour to make snickerdoodles yourself.

(great breakfast bar!)

(Good but very sweet)

(Great taste and price but early expiration date)

(great snack for toddlers)

(YUMMY!)
My son will be two in a few weeks and he has been eating these for breakfast for several months now. he'll eat about two or three of these bars in the morning along with his cup of milk. we love these and they're great to keep a some in the car in my purse...perfect little healthy snack!
Basically these are large fig newtons, cherry flavored. They're also small sized, good for toddlers and calorie-conscious adults, but be aware that they are less than 1/2 the size of an average cereal bar. I bought these thinking "healthy snack", but really I'd be better off giving my child some whole grain toast w/ jam and nut butter. These are convenient, though, but very crumbly/messy--not good car seat food IMO.
My daughter loves this product and it becomes a little treat.
The only reason I give only three stars here is because of the expiration date. When I ordered (April 09), the expiration date was about the end of July 09 (About 3 months away). I called the customer service but they said it is "the freshest" one. I don't know whether it is because they don't use preservetives or that is the freshest one in the Amazon warehouse. My husband helps eating them out now.

My kids (1 and 3 years old) love these. They make a great snack because they are not full of refined sugar, but still taste sweet.
My son, who is almost three, LOVES these. They are a great snack that I'm happy to give him and they make a great breakfast for mornings when there's not enough time for anything else. And, there's no high fructose corn syrup - I don't care what the commercials say - I still don't want my family to eat it.

(Brings back good times....)

(Taste Horrible)
I used to buy these at my hometown movie theater when I was a child and I was delighted to see them again!

When I received my box of Linda's Lollies in the mail I was overjoyed...they were just as delicious to me 15 years later!

I highly recommend these!

These pops were absolutely awful. My first try was the German Chocolate Cake, which barely tasted like chocolate and more like a mild root beer flavored candy. The second try was the Cherry Cheesecake, which tasted like cherry flavored cough syrup. The third attempt was the Coconut Creme Pie, which had a mild coconut flavor.

I gave up after the third attempt and shared a few of the remaining pops with some coworkers; most of them hated the pops as well, stating they tasted very artificial.

I was very disappointed considering other products of this nature appear to have higher ratings.

If you haven't had the pleasure of a Linda's Lollie you don't know what you're missing. Each set includes delicious handmade lollipops elegantly packaged and individually wrapped. Completely fat-free! No preservatives. They make a perfect hostess or housewarming gift! Tickle your palate with these flavors,...they're 'Lindalicious'! Linda's Lollies continues to dominate the Gourmet Lollipop marketplace. Linda Harkavy, owner and creator of Linda's Lollies, originated the concept of gourmet lollipops 18 years ago. To this day, Linda's Lollies remains the #1 choice of lollipop connoisseurs kids and adults, alike.

I give this product a 4-5/5 stars. We just got it a few weeks ago. My three kids are very pleased with it so far. The manufacturers are right about the weight, our youngest weighs about 76lbs and cannot quite make it bounce. I chose it, rather than the pogo stick for younger kids, so it would last longer for all three kids. The reason I gave this product a possible 4/5 is that the foam on the handle bars, while seemingly strong, also looks prone to break after a few of the inevitable drops on the ground. I will let you know by the end of the summer. Overall, a great buy!
I bought one of my nephews one of these for Christmas and he loves it!! So I purchased this one for my other nephew and he loves it also!! They have so much fun!!
My children weigh about 70-85 pounds. I weigh 118. And none of us could initially get the spring to compress enough to use the stick effectively--even when my 200-pound husband tried to help.
Use a lubricant. It makes a huge difference, but lighter kids will still need for you to break it in first.

I highly recommed this pogo stick...but they really should put the minimum weight or the weight range on the write ups.... I don't know any 9 year old that would weigh enough to do this. My 12 yr old (not skinny, not fat)can barely do it...but loves it..and it will last him a long time. He is below the minimum but close. So I don't think I needed the next one down...he would have out grown it too fast.
This was exactly what I wished to purchase for my Grandson to fullfill his birthday request. It was a big hit.
Hop your way to health and tons of fun with this durable pogo stick. Precision blue and silver foam covered metal pogo stick will last for years. It features replaceable non-slip, safety handles, foot pads and a rubber tip. Measures 41" high. Holds 80 to 160 pounds.
From the makers of the high flying Flybar, the Flybar Foam Master Pogo Stick is a modern design adaptation of the classic toy. It's sure to promote healthy and exciting fun for boys and girls of all ages. A great introduction to pogo stick jumping--perfect for the beginner and for intermediate riders--it's ideal for jumpers aged 9 years and older. It features a rugged metal frame covered in precision-made foam, replaceable non-slip foot pads, easy-grip handles, and a rubber tip to help you stay in control. As a safety precaution, it is recommended to always use a helmet.

Fun, exciting way to get exercise.

(3 year old grandson loves it!!)

(Great puzzles)

(Fun puzzles)

(Great!)

(Puzzles)
I ordered this puzzle set for my 3 year old grandson, along with some other puzzles. This is the one that he goes for everytime he is at my house. He loves it!! The box that holds the puzzles is just so neat and the top is sort of inset, so that it makes a nice place to work one of the puzzles. Each puzzle has its own compartment in the box also, which makes it very organized. Great buy!!!
My son is a young 3 and absolutely loves this boxed puzzle set. He had only played with different types of peg puzzles before receiving this set, so it has been quite exciting for him to learn how to put the 12 piece puzzles together. He feels so proud when he completes a puzzle all by himself and because he loves cars/trucks so much it is also very rewarding for him to see a cool fire truck, bus, train or race car in the finished product! This puzzle helps to build confidence, teaches strategic thinking and requires concentration from my little guy... great purchase!
My 2.5 yr old son loves these puzzles. I showed him the ropes a few times and now he sits and does all 4 one after another by himself. They are wood so they are holding up pretty well despite rough treatment, though the images are wearing away around the edges a little. We're going to get another set or two--it's a nice obsession.
My 2 yo loves this box-o-fun. He can clean up and organize the pieces all by himself because each different puzzles' pieces have their own symbol on the back. Great for toddlers too old for chunky puzzles but intimidated by too many pieces.
I purchased this set for my 2 year old grandson, he loves the fire engine. It is still a little difficult for him but he does make an attempt to put the pieces together. He doesnt get frustrated but does need help.
Set contains four wooden jigsaw puzzles inside, each in its own compartment! With this set of 48 wood pieces, you can create a puzzle for a fire engine, airplane, school bus and train engine.

(My 3-year-old daughter is a fan)

(Another great idea from Melissa&Doug)

(Grandsons delight)

(Christmas Present)

(Another great Melissa&Doug toy)
My daughter really enjoys this puzzle, which we gave her for her 3rd birthday. It's exciting to hear her tell us all the countries she wants to visit someday.
Gave it to my nephew for b-day present. He loves it. Not sure about durabilty, but for the great price--worth the educational value!
I bought this for my 3 year old grandson who loves puzzles. This one has a duel purpose, its a great puzzle and it teaches him the world. He has put it together many times since I gave it to him.
My four year old grandson was beside himself, when he opened this floor puzzle and two other Melissa and Doug Floor Puzzles, at our Christmas gathering. They were definitly a hit.
Our 3 1/2 year old daughter loves this puzzle. It's a nice large size with large pieces that fit together easily. This adds to our daughter's sense of accomplishment, and she enjoys the new challenge of a large round puzzle. Now she puts it together by herself and when she's done, we then discuss the different cultures of the children holding hands. This really adds more value and more time spent using this verses other puzzles.
Kids will love putting this puzzle together over and over again. The wonderfully illustrated circular floor puzzle introduces children to various cultures and helps them understand their world, and people from different ethnicities. This unique, multi-cultural puzzle measures 32" across. Colorful and made of durable cardboard.

(I can't get this story out of my mind)

(Sweet Discipline)

(Buy this book)

(Amazing!)

(Ahhh, sweet discipline...........)
Tight plotting. Good grammar. Excellent editing. Mostly DS, but more than a couple teaspoons worth of some pulse-poundingly realistic BDSM.A+ for the technical stuff.

The sex scenes were explosive and steamy, and definitely hotter for the excellent BDSM elements. Very well-done, those BDSM touches. From the confusion and muscle-pulling pain of one of the beginning sequences (her, the bar and darkness) to the explosive and wildly exciting final bit of playtime, this novel accurately portrays how it feels and what happens when one is falling into the silky aching heat of an enduring BDSM relationship.

Good story, too. Yes, there is a story in this novel and it does more than just carry the protagonists from sex scene to sex scene. The story is essential to the sex scene, actually. Who would believe this kinda thing at all, even in a sexy novel, without a halfway believeable story?

I finished this book and went to bed, where its heat and story line invaded my dreams. Even taking into consideration the tiny problem of her giving fully informed consent ahead of time (something that would [almost] always happen in reality--otherwise we call it a sex crime, right?) this is still among the very best BDSM-leaning erotic romance fiction I have ever read.

This book gets two very enthusiastic thumbs up from me! (Or should that be 'bottoms up'?)

All I can say is Wow! This book was amazing, smart, funny, and sexy. I love it and will re-read it as many times as I can. Highly recommended.

Terri

Wow! Usually authors in this genre are great at sex scenes, characters, or plots - never all three. Bonnie Hamre better hurry up and write more books; especially with these characters.
This has become a quick favorite and I have reread it several times. The humor is wonderful; I find myself laughing outloud at Norris' internal reactions and sarcasms. I sure could use a trainer like this guy.
Sweet Discipline starts out with Norris Brownell jealous of her friend Kendra and her svelte new body. Kendra had recently come back from a new spa called Sweet Discipline, some twenty five pounds lighter, and now Norris wants to try. Norris has gone to countless spas and gone through numerous diet and exercise regimes only to fall off the wagon after a few months. What's she's lacking is discipline, so she thinks this new spa sounds like just what she needs. Kendra insists the methods Sweet Discipline use are confidential and if she wants to go through the program, she'll have to sign the contracts blindly and just accept the fact they'll have her best interests in mind. Norris, happily optimistic that she'll lose some weight and get that cute office guy to finally notice her, walks into Sweet Discpline having no idea what's in store. Her trainer, Adrian, was not what she had in mind. First off, he's a man, and second, he's gorgeous and a domineering bully. He strips her and tells her all the things that are wrong with her, both mind and body. He reveals to her all the weaknesses about herself and she resents him for it. She'll show him, she thinks. After the first few sessions, her resistance melts away though, as do the unwanted pounds. As Adrian is conditioning her body, he's also conditioning her mind, making her more pliant and responsive. He introduces herself to the woman she's been all along. While his methods would surely raise the eyebrows of the Better Business Bureau, not to mention the police, they are most effective. Adrian sets goals for her and she meets every single one. Once she sees the results in the mirror and within herself, Norris begins to look forward to Adrian's punishingly effective sessions. After awhile, not even Adrian is immune to the new svelte and confident Norris and their training sessions start to grow more personal and erotic. When the contract for her stay at Sweet Discipline is almost over, Norris doesn't want to leave, but she's also afraid that she's just another client to him. Even Kendra was trained by Adrian. Or was she? Adrian reveals to her that he has both a public persona and a private life and she desperately wants to believe that she was special. Norris embarks on a new exploration of her psyche and her sexuality in a hot, kinky story that will leave you aching to sign up for some sweet discipline of your own.

Norris was kind of a haughty brat when she first starts out in Sweet Discipline but Adrian quickly cures her of all ills. His expertise in getting her to care for her body made me wish he was my physical trainer and his expertise in getting her to widen her areas of sexual exploration made me wish he was more than my physical trainer. While it was outlandish and ridiculous to believe that Norris would submit to this treatment, it was a strong indicator of her submissive side that allowed Adrian to completely take over her body and mind. Norris spends a lot of time alone, thinking about herself and her needs and wants and I found her thought process fascinating. The story held (in my eyes) only mild traces of BDSM, so it's not too far out there for someone just dipping a toe into this genre. Adrian might come across as arrogant, cold and robotic, especially in the beginning when you think he's just doing his job, but Bonnie Hamre gives us just enough whenever we need reassurance. Whenever things get too personal, Adrian gives Norris enough emotion and care to let her know that he's there for her, just as Bonnie is there for us.

The sex in Sweet Discipline was hot, very D/s oriented, which should be a given, yet it was still very respectful. Adrian might have been a hard, implacable man, but when Norris was in his care, he was one hundred percent focused on her and her pleasures. There is mild BDSM, nothing over the top though and a lot of interest in the butt. Also, despite the menage tag, there is no menage.

At the end of the story I didn't think Norris was completely sold to the idea of being his submissive. Basically, I felt like she still hadn't embraced the attitude of "no pain no gain" but I'm sure Adrian was more than up to the challenge she presented. I really enjoyed my first story by Bonnie Hamre and hope I come across her again. Enjoy!

Sweet Discipline By Bonnie Hamre When Norris Brownell registers at an exclusive diet spa to further her career and salvage her social life, she expects the usual regimen of diet, exercise and behavior modification. However, Adrian, her personal trainer, knows that won't do. He's determined to train her to discipline her body and her impulses for more than portion control. He wants her for himself. She's initially appalled and resistant to his methods, but as her body slims and her sensual needs expand, she finds herself dealing with cravings that only Adrian can satisfy. Norris may lose much more than just pounds at the hand of her sensual trainer. Note: Sweet Discipline contains multiple scenes of discipline and is not for the faint of heart.

(Cute Bedtime Story)

(Too cute!)
This latest children's book by Judy Sierra is a great bedtime story with wonderful illustrations. So imaginative using the alphabet with Big and Small letters. If you like this book, another bedtime story with colorful illustrations is Ladybug Baby Bug. You'll enjoy both of these children's books as a welcome pair to your homecollection.
This is a great book to read to the kids at bedtime. Its got great illustrations...and is absolutely adorable that the capital letters (mom&dad) put the baby letters (lowercase) to sleep...how stinkin' cute! ;) A definite must have for those that like ABC and bedtime books...
A fun read-aloud for little ones who are learning their ABCs.

It's sleepy time in Alphabet Town. But the twenty-six little letters of the alphabet all have something they need—or want—to do before big-letter moms and dads tuck them in. Not since the classsicChicka Chicka Boom Boomhas there been such an appealing way to teach the youngest child the ABCs while providing a one-minute goodnight story. Of course, Melissa Sweet’s animated watercolor, pencil, and collage illustrations may beg for a little more time to match up all the toys with the right letters, and Judy Sierra’s rollicking rhymed story will want to be heard again and again. Okay, so maybe it’s a three-minute story!

Your girl will be the coolest kid at school. Comfortable, cushioned, durable treads. But let's face it, this shoe is hip and stylish.
Reebok was founded for one of the best reasons possible: athletes wanted to run faster. So in the 1890s, Joseph William Foster made some of the first known running shoes with spikes in them. By 1895, he was in business making shoes by hand for top runners; and before long his fledgling company, J.W. Foster and Sons, developed an international clientele of distinguished athletes.

(teenage dream)
My wife loves this watch. Says that she still has a little time before she will feel too old for stuff like that :) Lots of functions, cool looking display (but not for people with vision problems - too pale), maybe a little too thick and bulky for a thin wrist, but pretty light-weight. Very nice modern watch.
A bold white strap and blue accents surrounding a silver-tone stainless steel case make the Sweet Poison Sorbet Watch #BG2001-7A from Casio's shock-resistant Baby-G Collection a sassy, captivating accessory. Sporty and contemporary, with a futuristic edge, this fresh and fun style offers 12- or 24-hour formats, five independent daily alarms, and dual LED lights with afterglow. It also showcases world time (29 time zones/48 cities), and has a 1/100-second stopwatch that measures elapsed time, split time, and first and second place time. There's both an hourly time signal and an auto calendar pre-programmed until the year 2099 to keep your day--and life!--on-track. Accurate, reliable, and easy to wear, this Casio original boasts the precision of quartz movement and is water resistant to 660 feet. This watch is protected by a one-year manufacturer's warranty.

(Low-calorie natural sweetener with no bitter aftertaste)

(Pretty good stuff)
SlimSweet contains a natural sweetener called lo han guo, also referred to as momordica grosvenori. It is produced from a sweet berry that grows in China. SlimSweet tastes very good, with no bitter aftertaste, and this company is offering lo han guo at a far cheaper price that any other company marketing this natural sweetener. However, it is important to note that this product is not 100% calorie free, as the product label seems to claim. The front of the label states that this product contains ".9 carbs per serving," which clearly means that SlimSweet contains slightly less than one gram of carbohydrates per serving. There is a very good reason that a serving of this product has been sized so that it contains slightly less than a gram of carb per serving: legally, if a serving of a processed food contains less than a gram of either fat, protein or carbohydrates, for whichever of them that is less than a gram, the manufacturer is not required to report its calories. This, however, is the unvarnished truth about carbohydrates, any carbohydrates: in all times and places, they have 4 calories per gram (technically, 3.8 calories, which rounds to 4.0). Even sugar alcohols and fiber officially have 4 calories per gram, even though they are counted as 0 calories by people on low-carb diets because the body can't digest them. For SlimSweet, then, a 1/5 teaspoon serving with .9 gram of carb means it contains not 0 calories, but 3.6 calories. That's not so bad if all you are doing is drinking tea or coffee and using a couple servings a day. But what if you want to bake with it? If so, you need to look at the larger picture: 1 tablespoon equals 15 servings (5 servings per teaspoon times three teaspoons per tablespoon), or 54 calories, and a cup of SlimSweet, which equals 16 tablespoons, is a whopping 864 calories. It's crucial to remember that if you choose to bake with this product and factor it in accordingly when you do your calorie count.

The second thing to remember in baking with this sweetener is that you will have to experiment to see for yourself if. to your personal taste, lo han guo lives up to the oft-repeated claim that, like stevia, it is 200-300 times as sweet as table sugar. In my experience, this is not true with either sweetener. Per my taste, SlimSweet is, maybe, 5 times as sweet as table sugar (which may be another reason why the manufacturer's lists a serving size of 1/5 teaspoon, because a serving size of table sugar is 1 teaspoon). Per my taste, stevia is, at best, 8 times as sweet as table sugar, because I use 1/8 teaspoon for tea or coffee where I might have used 1 teaspoon of table sugar. Translated for baking, I would use about 1/3 cup of SlimSweet (lo han guo) for 1 cup of table sugar and about 1/8 cup of stevia for 1 cup of table sugar.

There are several advantages to baking with SlimSweet (lo han guo) vs. stevia. SlimSweet is granulated to have the same texture as table sugar and it has no bitter aftertaste, which stevia can have if you use more than a tiny amount. Even knowing this, you will need to experiment if you want to bake with this product. For example, when I recently made a batch of chocolate cookies, I substituted 2/3 C. of SlimSweet and 1/2 tsp. stevia for 2 cups of table sugar and the cookies should have been sickeningly sweet, but they were not. They tasted just about as sweet as table-sugar-sweetened cookies. Their texture was also off. They were supposed to be chewy cookies, but they had the texture of ginger snaps. I believe this is because of some important chemical-reaction issues that come up when using this product or stevia as a sugar substitute in baking recipes: (1) table sugar reacts very differently with all the other ingredients in the baking recipe than various sugar substitutes, including lo han guo; (2) depending on how much sweeter than table sugar your sweetening agent is, you will use relatively less volume of it than you would of table sugar, which will require you to adjust the amount of liquid you use and the baking time and temperature you use.

Finally, you might want to know that Dr. Marcus Laux recommended lo han guo in his January 2007 health newsletter as a good sugar substitute, along with stevia, xylitol, sucanat, inulin, agave nectar/syrup, and rice, barley and brown rice malt syrups. A good source of stevia is Now and the price on Amazon is outstanding: Stevia Extract by NOW Foods - Natural Foods (45mg - 1 lbs. Powder).

I wasn't so sure about this, especially since it's kinda expensive. But what can I say, I like to try new things. It tastes like brown sugar, so it's good in coffee, tea and even baking things (I made oatmeal cookies with it last night with excellent results). It says a serving is 1/5 a teaspoon, but I like my stuff SWEET, so it usually ends up being 1 to 1 (1 teaspoon of slim sweet = 1 teaspoon of sugar) for me. I usually use a stevioside powder to sweeten my tea, and I usually use 1/5 a teaspoon for that.

Anyways, I recommend this product. It's definitely worth trying once.

SlimSweet is a great-tasting, all-natural supplement made from Lo Han, a cafefully harvested fruit found only in China. SlimSweet is 100% natural with a naturally sweet taste. No saccharin. No aspartame. No chemicals. No stevia. A Swanson Web Exclusive!
