It's on sturdy board of some kind with fabric connecting each piece and has a ribbon for hanging. The illustrations are beautiful and there are so many details to explore. She had seen it at a chain store so I had to come on-line and find it. She is almost 2. She loves to sit in it and read. She loves that adults don't fit in it. When her friends come over they have trouble sharing it because it is so popular. She is not supposed to but many times she has climbed on the back of it and it has been pretty sturdy so far.』

(It's a comfortable foam chair that is difficult to keep clean.) 『The good: Near as I can tell, my one-year old finds it comfortable. The solid color blends in well with the rest of the room.
The bad: The cover is not washable. There is a zipper that would allow you to remove it and the chair comes with a note saying the only reason for the zipper is to let the manufacturer put the cover on and it should not be removed. That makes keeping the thing clean a bit difficult. Also, the chair is also quite light, and being light, it can tip over easily; standing on it can be dangerous. Finally, it is a bit pricey, probably it's somewhat unique.
Bottom line is I'm glad to have it and feel it should cost under $50 and have a removable/washable cover.

So I bought the download of "Oh, Lady Be Good" and then listened to it in iTunes- from the very first second, I could plainly hear the surface noise that old vinyl records have- scratches and pops. There is none of this noise in the samples-they must have a denoiser for sample playback, which to me is an underhanded trick to be pulling-the samples should sound exactly like the download version you order on the same page. Even the instrument's tone is weak and thin compared to the sample.Shame on Amazon!』
(The Notorious A.R.T.) 『Artie Shaw has been playing in the background of my life for almost 48 years and until very recently, I never bothered to tune-in thinking the Big Band Impresarios (Goodman, Shaw, Miller) that ruled from the late `30s through the early `50s (when Alan Freed's Rock and Roll meteor nearly drove them all to extinction) had more in common with the febrile somnolence of Guy Lombardo on New Years Eve than Ella Fitzgerald or characters so coolly named "Bunny" Berigan or The Moon Maids.
The Essential Artie Shaw is a relentless, high-octane collection of the Big Band period's most complex and improvisational jazz and swing. After repeated listening the overall impression that emerges is music that moves far beyond words - completely capturing the mood of America during epic conflict - restiveness, resolve, hope and genuine sentiment. A political science graduate course in 4/4 time. Astounding and wonderful.
Unlike some of his contemporaries, Shaw was an obsessive perfectionist who insisted on micro-managing the arrangements for almost all of his prolific output - often going through tantrums of scorched earth - hiring and replacing legions of band members who couldn't get it right. Whatever the human toll, the arrangements and definition are air-tight and beyond brilliant given the technological limitations of the day.
Personally, Shaw played the tortured hedonist to full effect - running through eight wives, gallons of scotch and a tobacconists share of Lucky's that would have given any Rap artist pause. And just for maximum shock-value, quit the business entirely at the peak of his popularity in 1954 to write novels and poetry - foregoing millions in bookings and recording contracts.
Fortunately for us, what he left behind is a dazzling legacy of clarinet-infused be-bop that has been painstakingly re-mastered and choreographed on this double-cd Essentials collection.
Artie Shaw was certainly an artist before his time and if he were around today might feel right at home reincarnated as Soulja Shaw or Notorious A.R.T. Whatever the result from that collision of styles, it would have only confirmed that maybe, just maybe, your parents were much cooler than you ever gave them credit for.

(genius--and at a bargain basement price, too !!!) 『The Essential Artie Shaw is a wonderful two CD set of the music that made Artie Shaw one of the very best big band leaders the world has even known. This music is very special even today and it's a great way for people to discover the infinite talents of Artie&His Orchestra. The quality of the sound is very good; and the artwork impresses me.
"Begin the Beguine" starts off the first CD with a huge hit for Artie Shaw&His Orchestra. I love it! The brass sounds great in this musical arrangement; and listens for "Deep Purple." "Deep Purple" features the great Helen Forrest singing her heart out as Artie and his band mates play flawlessly. Helen's voice never sounded better and her excellent diction bolstered her performances very well. "Oh! Lady Be Good" is yet another number that only Artie Shaw&His Orchestra could play so well--they were THAT good.
"Georgia On My Mind" has a somewhat jazzy arrangement that, mixed with the big band sound, really makes this number fly. "Any Old Time" and "April In Paris" shine just as brightly, too. "Softly, as in a Morning Sunrise" was a huge hit for Artie Shaw; and just one listen will tell you why. "Softly, as in a Morning Sunrise" is a major highlight of the first CD. "Blues in the Night" sounds great; and when Oran "Hot Lips" Page joins in to sing the lyrics it sounds even better than any instrumental version I've veer heard.
The second CD continues the hits. "Frenesi" was another major hit for Artie Shaw&His Orchestra; I always liked this tune. "Take Your Shoes Off, Baby (And Start Runnin' Through My Mind)" again features Oran "Hot Lips" Page; and it all works very well. "Indian Love Call" was a huge movie hit; and when Artie Shaw does this tune he does great justice to this number. "I Can't Believe That You're in Love With Me" along with "Star Dust" shine bright; Bette Davis always loved "Star Dust" and when you hear Artie Shaw&His Orchestra perform this there'll be no secret as to why Bette loved it so very much. Although "Streamline" is actually an alternate take, it sounds blissful to me and I think you'll enjoy this number if you like this type of music.
"What Is This Thing Called Love?" showcases just how well Artie Shaw&His Orchestra could play a most romantic ballad and make it swing; and listen for "Alone Together" which gets a very sensitive treatment by these great artists. The second CD ends strong with Artie Shaw&His Orchestra performing "Nightmare." "Nightmare" is a number Artie and his mates sometimes played at the beginning or the end of a radio broadcast.
Overall, The Essential Artie Shaw is a wonderful compilation of Artie Shaw's best work with the members of his orchestra. I highly recommend this for fans of swing and big band music. 』

They have a James Bond sexiness in their music, along with a mixture of trip-hop, bossa nova, and vocal jazz. I don't think I'll ever get sick of listening to this album (or any Bitter:Sweet album, for that matter; but unfortunately, they only have one other album, if we don't count the remix album). I like Portishead, but I somehow don't really like any of the other bands that people who like Portishead usually like. The only other band that comes close to Bitter:Sweet is Saint Privat. I could listen to Bitter:Sweet and Saint Privat for ever... I was in search for something fresh and Bitter:Sweet came to my rescue. I hope I can see them perform live one day! In that case it was tracing the roots of country blues through well-known old time country bluesman Charley Patton via Bob Dylan tribute, "High Water Everywhere" on his latest "Bootleg" volume. Here, the route to reviewing folk/rock lyricist and singer Richard Thompson, known back in the day as part of the well-thought of British folk group Fairport Convention, is a cover of his classic working class love song, "1952 Vincent Black Lightning' covered, and covered very well, by American folksinger Greg Brown. But that is where the comparisons end. In the case of Dylan's tribute I was able to review Patton's early work very favorably. Here I am, frankly, stymied.
I was not particularly a fan of Fairport Convention back in the days, although anytime I heard them then (or now, when played on a local oldies folk radio program) I was always impressed by their harmonics. When I asked others about Richard Thompson as a solo artist I thought I was confronting the Second Coming with the profuseness of the praise for his work. And that is where the problem is. His lyrics, as "1952 Vincent" shows, are incredibly well thought out and richly evocative. (How about that combination, right?) However, his presentation, mainly the result of over-production, leaves me flat. So, I guess, and it will not be the first time this has happened, Google for Thompson's lyrics and find out who covers his material. Here I will say that three songs really stick out- "Needle And Thread", "She Sang Angels To Rest", and "Sunset Song".

(A Fine Return To Form) 『I've been a Richard Thompson fan for about 20 years though I haven't been too excited about his output of recent years. This album however has rekindled my interest. In Sweet Warrior, Thompson returns to his unique, lyrical folk-rock-punk style. His vocals, which are an acquired taste, to say the least, never sounded better. The guitar work is as always, nothing short of brilliant,(imagine Mark Knopfler on steroids). Great band of backing musicians as well.』

Each song has a story to tell - each one is pure enjoyment. If you are a RT fan or just beginning to explore his music this is a great CD. His voice is pitch perfect, emotions with his singing voice, and to each song. One of my favorite RT's CD's. Think this is perfect match for the music lover who enjoys the lyrics as much as the song. This is not a 'yeah, yeah, yeah' singer songwriter. His songs have meaning. I can connect with each song on some level in my personal life. He speaks/writes/sings of life, stories told in words, music that surpasses any artist or is on par with the greats.』
(Absolutely brilliant!) 『There is not much more that can be said about this superb release from former Fairport Convention guitarist Richard Thmpson. He just gets better each time out. "She Sang Angels To Rest" is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. If the test of a great song is its ability to stir emotion in the listener, then Thompson has certainly accomplished that with this beautiful tune. The album moves perfectly from the rocking "Needle and Thread", which was a great choice to open up the album, to the hilarious "Mr. Stupid", to the tongue in cheek "Dad's Gunna Kill Me"---a tune about everyone's REAL Dad, to the excellent shanty, "Johnny's Far Away", which makes me want to go order a Guiness in a little Irish Pub ever time I hear it.
Truly not a bad song on the entire collection. Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Humorous, But A Little Too Dated) 『 I really wanted to like this film. It had personal sentiment for me as my mother's name was "Adeline" plus I had high regard for Irene Dunne every since I saw her star in "I Remember Mama."
Yet, despite that positive attitude going in, this wasn't something I'd watch again. It wasn't bad; just too dated and I didn't care for Irene's soprano voice. Yikes, that women hit high notes that rattled my fillings! At least she looked good: the most attractive I've seen her in her younger years. The film, though, as a whole, had a very dated appearance.
Billed as a musical romance, I was impressed with how much humor was in this movie. As for leading men, I knew Donald Woods from "A Tale Of Two Cities" but he never struck me as forceful enough to be a leading man. Louis Calhern, however, always was credible at the detestable villain, as he was here once again.
I'm being generous here, giving it three stars.』
(Dunne Sings Kern--and that's enough!) 『Though the fact is not much remembered today, Irene Dunne was one of the leading musical stars of the 1930s, and she shines in this filming of Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein's Broadway musical. The plot is silly--Hoboken beer-garden singer becomes Broadway star--and the supporting cast is not always the best (although Hugh"Woo-Woo"Herbert is in fine form, if you appreciate his humor), but the music is glorious and Dunne does it full justice. The songs include the well-known"Why Was I Born?"and"Don't Ever Leave Me,"but for me, the highlight is the lesser-known gem"Here Am I."Sadly, the print of the movie is not in the best shape (lots of nicks and scratches), depriving us of a full appreciation of what looks like some really stunning black-and-white photography. Still, all in all, the film remains an enjoyable experience. And Dunne and Kern's contributions make it memorable.』

I never expected them to be so scared of a Strawberry Shortcake video. When I was young the Purple Pieman just wanted berries for his pies. Here he's out to steal everyone's dreams! Now my kids are going to have nightmares about some mean guy trying to steal their dreams while they're asleep.
Aside from the scary parts, the plot just rambled. It seemed like they were constantly adding ideas - in a very disjointed manner - to fill up air time. The story was weak and did not appeal to my children. They actually asked me to get rid of the DVD after it was over.
Why do some children's shows seem to feel the need to have a "bad" person in them? Can't writers be a little creative and come up with stories that don't include evil characters? Maybe an older set of kids would enjoy this movie, but it's definitely not suitable for younger audiences. Blue's Clue's, Winnie the Pooh, and Backyardigans are all children's shows that have been able to write interesting and creative story lines that model how to overcome adversity without including gratuitous evil characters. We'll be sticking with them instead of Strawberry Shortcake.』

The vignettelike tales are interspersed with comments by jazz aficionados and critics, but this is less a Zelig-like mockumentary than an extension of the self-absorbed portraits of Deconstructing Harry and Celebrity. The lazy pace drags at times and the script runs dry between comic centerpieces--the film screams for more of Allen's playful invention--but there's a bittersweet tenderness and an affecting vulnerability that is missing from his other recent work. Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Cult Movie Waiting To Find it's Cult) 『Dusan Makavejev's SWEET MOVIE is a masterpiece of outrageous cinema that falls somewhere between the disturbing surrealism of Buñuel and Dali's UN CHIEN ANDALOU, the ironically vibrant color that Lynch uses in the opening of BLUE VELVET, and the subversive dark humor and scatology of Water's PINK FLAMINGOS. I was intrigued with a review I read, then I discovered that it featured Otto Muehl, a mysterious artist and sexual offender who was featured in Amos Vogel's classic book FILM AS SUBVERSIVE ART - which I read 25 years ago while studying film in college.
Muehl filmed his "happenings" like a lot of people in the 1960s, but his "happenings" were like unfettered Id explosions of sex, bodily fluids, food and vomit. Just the stills in the books had something about them that made me realize this was the guy who took cinema right up to the edge in a free form that made Jean-Luc Goddard's films look like Hollywood blockbusters. These classic, seldom seen films can be viewed on Muehl's website.
SWEET MOVIE has two plots that kind of converge: First there is the Carole Laure, as Miss Canada, who wins a "beauty contest" where the women are screened by a gynecologist on stage to see if they are virgins. PULP FICTION fans should note that when the doctor looks at Laure's vaginal, it glows like the famous suitcase. The contest is staged by the mother of a wealthy milk tycoon (John Vernon). After a bizarre concept of foreplay, it is revealed that the tycoon has a golden penis. Laure freaks out so bad that the mother has a servant take her to a secret room where she is further humiliated, then stuffed into suitcase and sent off as luggage on a plane. A good chunk of the film follows this luggage bag going all over Europe.
Inter cut with these two stories is gruesome black and white documentary footage the Nazi's shot of the discovery of the mass graves from the Katyn massacre, where 21,000 people were Polish citizens were killed by the Soviets.
Meanwhile Anna Prucnal play the Captain of a ship filled with sugar and candy, and it also has a giant head of Karl Marx on the front of it. Makavejev's original concept was to have Marx's mouth in the water, so you couldn't tell if his was swimming or drowning, but when the boat was launched his who face was above the waterline. Prucnal picks up a sailor, Potemkin, in an obvious homage to Eisenstein's famous film of the same name. She warns that if she falls in love she will kill him. She also seduces three young boys, first with candy, then with a striptease in a scene that I'm not even sure you could legally film today - think TIN DRUM times three.
Meanwhile Laure finally finds herself at the Eiffel Tower where she meets "El Macho," a romantic singer who lip-syncs to old records. She is eventually taken in by Muehl's commune. After a dinner where everyone eats and then joyously throws up, I believe it is Muehl himself who is naked and pees on camera and a bucket of feces is poured on him as he screams and cries like a baby. Please note, I am not talking about special effects; he is peeing, and those are actual feces. Makavejev has noted that while that wasn't exactly what he was looking for, it was a collaboration between him and the infamous Muehl, so he left it in with all the ugliness.
The grand finale there are two of the most beautiful scenes in the history of cinema. The first is of Prucnal and Potemkin having sex in a bed of sugar, where she stabs him - lots of red on white in the shot - and buries him in the sugar. The second is, rather than feces, Laure is covered from head to toe in chocolate for a commercial and makes designs on her nude body with it.
The police stop the ship and have the bodies of the children Prucnal are discovered murdered. They are laid out in plastic body bags on the shore, which is edited with the bodies from the massacre being laid out in the same fashion. After all the black and white footage, the scene comes back to the children, who come to like and seem to be leaving their "cocoons."
I'm sure I'm missing some of the point, as this was made for a young audience behind the iron curtain 30 years ago, but I get enough to love the bizarre beauty of the film. Not only is it obviously subversive, a strange humor runs throughout the film, and it is beautiful. Makavejev wanted to make the film a "love letter to color film," and he succeeded in spades.
It's one of those films that's hard to describe in words; the poetic beauty and crazed comedy have to be seen to be understood. I would throw it in that group of films that dare to wallow in their own creativeness, no matter how alienating it might be to the general public, like the ANDY WARHOL'S FRANKENSTEIN, ANDY WARHOL'S DRACULA, HEAD, THE TRIP, BENEATH THE VALLEY OF THE ULTRA-VIXENS, and even the subversive porn films like PARTY DOLL A GO GO or ULTRAFLESH. It's a cult movie looking for it's cult. If you got this far in the review; BUY IT!

(from scatology to eschatology) 『I have to begin by admitting this is not an easy film to watch. To the regular viewer, the scatological overtones are gratuitous, to say the least. However, watching this film within its politico-temporal context, one can see that it is rather mis-characterized. Allow me to explain my journey in watching this film:
Like many of you, I decided to watch it just because Criterion put it out. I've known Yugoslav cinema to be rather colorful and did not mind a bit. As things started, I immediately saw the transparent pointers to cartoon-like representations of the US, Soviet Empire and even Western Europe for good measure, and the end-conclusion/state of each one of the systems. Alright, assuming the film was made in the '90s, I said to myself, "For the sake of completeness and honesty, where is the depiction of the Yugoslav tragedy?"
Indeed, post-WWII Yugoslavia had been an interesting historic anomaly. Its president, the Croat Iosip Broz Tito, who had won the best anti-fascist credentials leading the partisan fight from the mountains, managed to steer his country clear of the two major blocs on a third way. In other words, he was a socialist leader of a socialist country, within a socialist geography, who did not take orders from the Soviet bloc. Tito's Yugoslavs were enjoying most freedom--of thinking and movement--from all socialist countries. Then in 1991, 11 years after Tito passed away, Yugoslavia went up in flames. So, I'd have expected a bit of self-reflection from an Yugoslav director. Then, pausing briefly, I checked the production date and was stunned to see it was turned in 1974.
To put things in perspective, in 1974, the Cold War was going strong, Richard Nixon resigned as President of the United States, and Solzhenitsyn was deported From Russia. Now, why is this last point relevant? Because, before Solzhenitsyn made it to the West, large numbers in the western intelligentsia had been pro-Soviet, going as far as denying the atrocities perpetrated in the name of communism. So, you can imagine, it took a talented Yugoslav director, and a visionary in many ways, to say it all in "Sweet Movie," as we all have come to witness at high speed as we entered the 1990s. Yes, hear from any former subject of (East European) socialism and "eating s*h*i*t" was an usual metaphor describing the official discourse. Yes, many young and idealist had been figuratively drawn in by the sugar of, and then devoured by, the Socialist Revolution orchestrated by Moscow. And, yes, here in the west, a lot from what we do is put a mask on things to sell more/better.
So, unless one can watch this film taking into account its context, Dusan Makavejev and his "Sweet Movie" will get maligned. Context accounted for, this is an important document that stands the test of time and art. Yes, this can be art, the type that calls for attention not to itself but to the greater dangers we face as society at one point or another. Scatology is a means to militant art. In fact, Makavejev turns scatology into eschatology, and so should the viewer.』
(Disturbingly erotic and erotically disturbing...) 『Sweet Movie is like the crack baby of Salo, or the 120 Days of Sodom - Criterion Collection and Pink Flamingos. With such a surreal quality to it, Sweet Movie keeps you glued to the screen no matter how disturbing the subject matter may be. Interlaced between all of Sweet Movie's disturbing images are stock footage of Nazi medical experimentation which blur the lines of the movie's fictional degredation with real life human barbarianism, which takes away the ability to say its just a movie. Before giving the impression that Sweet Movie is a pure exploitation film with the singular goal of offending the viewer's senses, I must add that it is at the same time a powerful and beautiful film, with bizarre imagery and situations. But it is still pretty messed up. I recommend this movie to anyone with a strong stomache and an interest in arthouse/exploitation cimema. And if the content in the movie doesn't bother you, like some reviewers have noted, then congratulations, you've reached a greater point of desensitization than I have.』
(Excess) 『When I saw "Montenegro" all those years ago, it never really occurred to me that such a fantastic, idiosyncratic, and mysterious movie would actually come from a director that made other movies, too. It's just one of those things where each movie seems so ultimately different that it isn't feasible that there could be more of the same.
"Sweet Movie", to put it quite simply, is about excess. It's the story of two women, one a psychotic roaming candy-making pedophile boat woman, the other a delicate model/constant victim of sexual faux pas and impotency. The movie is filled with food, sex, and the gore that comes from food and sex. As the victimized woman finds herself in increasingly ridiculous situations and the psychotic woman puts people in others, many forms of abject art (revulsion/attraction, spewing and eating, killing and fornicating) keep a loaded bullet to the face of the viewer, mixed of course with a fair share of political asides and cultural themes (such as this: the fact that religious people appear scattered throughout the movie and are no more surprised by the activities of the characters than anyone else).
This movie falls squarely between something you'd expect from Alejandro Jodorowsky and Juzo Atami. Unlike Jodorowsky's work, however, the symbolism has a lot of weight, and unlike Atami, there's a lot more ambiguity. Dusan Makavejev is one of the most post-modern filmmakers out there, constantly asking questions that previously didn't exist, and then proving that there's no answer to them. This movie comes closer to a strong theme than "Montenegro", but it's full of a lot of self-awareness that purposefully deconstructs the very notion of "theme". (A Mariachi singer in Paris is filmed, and through distraction is shown to be lip-syncing. Later in the film he's actually supposed to be singing--and again is shown to be lip-syncing.)
In the end, it's hard to know what exactly to feel about this movie, minus revulsion for those of weak stomachs. It's both beautiful and intensely repulsive, which is a feat in either direction.

Several weeks later, FourPlay, is still on my kitchen table - not covered in a film of dust as I might have expected, but doused in sugar, caramel and tuile batter. FourPlay turns out to be quite a clever book; it's a book that you can actually use...
Let's start back at the beginning. Johnny Iuzzini is the Executive pastry Chef of the three-starred Michelin Restaurant Jean Georges in New York. At Jean Georges, Johnny's desserts arrive as four mini tasters served together. These creations may be inspired by a single ingredient or by the season, each a collection of delicious tastes, textures and techniques.
His desserts in FourPlay follow the same methodology as those at Jean Georges, so, when you look at the pictures in the book you might think that you are set for a visual feast and nothing more. But when you look a little deeper, the chef has written a book that puts the creative ball in the reader's court. It's a book of options.
You can choose to recreate one of the many quartets such as the Strawberry FourPlay; Strawberry Soda, Strawberry Ice Cream with Strawberry-Lavender Leather, Strawberry Shortcake with Roasted Strawberries&Strawberry Gelée, Coconut Cream&Crispy Chocolate or follow a simpler route and be inspired by one these components each of which shape up to be a great standalone dish.

I just wish he had found a different way to make the chocolate spaetzle, because honestly, it looks like fat, black crispy chow mein noodles, and I think that visual should be enough for you.
He has tons of exceptional ideas, and executes them with the skill of a true master. Everything looks and sounds delicious, and each recipe is unique. I only wish I had thought of them myself!
It should be noted, however, that the recipes in this book are not for someone who is looking to cook for the first time. Some of the techniques are advanced, use ingredients that you certainly aren't going to find in your local grocery store, and several recipes have multiple parts gone over elsewhere in the book. Luckily for the layman, he offers several simple replacements for a good number of ingredients in several of the recipes.
If none of that phases you, then get this book. You will not regret it.』

The outside sweet and tasty (the cover blurb) the inside just a puff of air (the narrative).
First of all Goldy really needs to age If Arch is a few months shy of his 16th birthday and she is 34 she managed to get deep enough into college to start her studies in her selected major - meet John Richard - get married and have a child remarkable she did all this by the age of 19 !
Okay that aside Where was the true mystery in this one and where was the justice. You hardly could care about anyone that got killed cause we never got to see any side of their character that would have made us the reader want to see the killer caught. This whole Sandee thing was just silly - she steals the church's vehicle camps out in the home of a wealthy vacationing couple (what no security system!) and runs around doing what ? and how stupid was the part where Goldy confronts her and realizes that Sandee will be able to clear out (HOW ?) before the cops can close in. Of course most of Goldy's confrontations were stupid - She gets her hair chopped off gee I know I live in mortal fear of a serial killer chopping off my hair !
Oh and the drug dealing in the library - anyone investigating that ? !
Do we ever learn why the librarian careened down the slope out of control or was it just because she was upset - Yes most people do go skiing after a workplace murder.
Marla may be wealthy and all that but really Goldy wrecked a car and a coat to the tune of 65k and Marla just decides to fix Goldy's hair ?? Goldy is still a caterer right ? She seemed to say to herself an awful lot that "Julian will handle it" hope he never decides to get a life. Also underage drinking etc that is never brought to the attention of the parents considering one of the men is sitting at their luncheon table.
Let's face it we all thought that Hermie and Smithfield were going to be villains but alas they just turned out to be unpleasant people and stupid parents. Thank goodness at least Julian was able to resist the charms of their out of control 14 year old.
I know also that I and most of my friends encourage our pastors to stop over for a meal get drunk, swear and spill their guts.
I agree with another reviewer that I can't believe that every wealthy person on the planet treats everyone with disdain. In this day and age of celebrity chefs I doubt if Goldy would be treated the way that she is. I also thought Tom was a cop a good cop I would hate to tell him anything in confidence since apparently he can't keep his mouth shut and he needs Goldy between making brownies to solve his cases. Come on get the series back on track - Make Goldy put down the coffee cup, bring back the Marla that I loved, let Arch stop popping up every two seconds, make the mystery something actually worth solving or retire the series before it slips into an abyss. Shame on you Ms Davidson for not respecting the intelligence of your faithful readers more.

(tedious, poor characterization, outrageous action) 『Of all the Diane Mott Davidson stories, this one is my least favorite.
First, as other reviewers have said, the author is constantly "reviewing" what just happened, without advancing the story. Second, none of the characters develop at all -- not John, Julian, Arch, Marla, or anybody else. They are barely window dressing in this book. Third, Goldy acts like such a complete and total fool so many times, it's ridiculous. When she knocked on the door of the person she thought was the killer in her hideout, and then basically stole a client's car and cell phone, I just about wanted to throw the book out the window. If I were her husband, I would have arrested her myself. Fourth, the other characters, who are all trying to keep an eye on Goldy, somehow disappear from the author's imagination. Many times Goldy does something reckless and I am thinking to myself, "um...where did Marla go? where did John go? where did Julian go? Are they all just watching Goldy be stupid? Or do they just have their eyes closed?"』
