Gunner, our soon-to-be 6 year old English Cocker Spaniel, has many food allergies. Because of this, he is on a home-cooked diet and he is doing great! But it has been very difficult finding good, nutritious store-bought treats that he likes. Sam's Yams have been a blessing . . . he looks forward to to his "Big Boyz" sweet potato every night. And the best part is knowing that the only ingredient is . . . a sweet potato!!!! No artificial colors or preservatives. The only drawback is that he gobbles it up very quickly. It lasts him 5 minutes, if we're lucky. But, Gunner highly recommends them as a good, tasty, healthy treat!
Zach has food allergies, so this is just what the doctor ordered (literally). This is also one of the cheapest prices I have seen and delivery is quick.

My golden retreiver and my carolina dog love these chews. Unlike alot of dog treats, these are not made in China but the USA. I avoid dog food from China because of the unsafe food supply there. Also, sweet potatoes help firm up the dog's loose stools. This is an easy way to give them sweet potatoes when I don't have time to prepare some from scratch.
A great product. My dogs love 'em. No chemicals and a much healthier alternative to rawhide chews (especially since some rawhide actually comes from China).
My dog absolutely loves these treats and they keep her teeth clean; they do not emit unpleasant odors nor do they stain surfaces/fabrics (like pizzle chews do). I would recommend purchasing only one bag to start to make sure that your dog likes the chews; my mother-in-law's dog likes rawhide and won't eat these.
Made of very thick slabs of sweet potato, dehydrated. Designed for larger breeds, but smaller dogs will enjoy them as well and they will last them a good long time. Each slice is perforated in order to assist in the dehydration of such a large piece. The surface is hard so as to provide dental benefits, yet the chews have a texture similar to rawhide. Each chew has the nutritional value of half of a large sweet potato.

Our two year old grandson loves Sesame Street and Elmo, and the Valentine's Day DVD is no exception. The story line is easy for him to follow with his favorite characters. This was a winner for us to watch more of "Mo."

watches it often.
We rented this DVD and it's really cute! Both my 18-month-old (who is currently obsessed with Elmo) and 5-year-old loved it and neither of them minded any old material, because kids don't know or care about thiat kind of stuff. They wanted to watch it over and over again.
Only 10-15 minutes of new Elmo material. All the rest is 10 years old or older. REM and Trisha Yearwood are from Season 30 (1998). Not your typical Elmo's World video. I was disappointed. BUT!!--It was all new to my toddler, and the old bit with Grover asking children to explain "love" is very sweet. Worth adding to your Elmo collection, but don't get too excited about "all-new" material. I'd also recommend picking it up at your local Wal-mart for $9.99, instead of paying Amazon $12.99 (as of 01/13/09).

I have purchased most of the "Elmo's World" DVDs for my toddler, who is three years if age. He loves Elmo and counts and sings along with him during the video. I think that Elmo's songs could be a little more inventive, (when Elmo sits at his piano and just repeats the same word over and over I think it's odd--couldn't anyone write a chorus?) but that is my only complaint. Good, safe entertainment for toddlers is hard to find.
This is a good DVD. My 18 month old daughter sings and dances to this video. She will sit and watch it long enough for me to empty and refill the dishwasher...that's all I can ask for!
My Grandaughter love elmo. She is enfacuated with this one as all the previous one. I wolud certainly buy it again for a gift.
Another entertaining Elmo series- the bug series is pretty cute. It may help alleviate some buggy fears your little one may have.
My son is a year and nine months and really likes this DVD. It has plenty of stories and the characters are interesting. He was a little disappointed when Elmo is not on the screen but is getting to like the other as well.

My twins love this (1 year olds) and best of all my 4 year old loves it as well! She loves going to church and being familiar with the praise and worship songs....we both love listening to the songs as adults as well.
I have bought these DVD's many times as baby gifts for parents. They all say they are wonderful and they are as I have watched them.
The DVD is for a gift, so I did not view it, but the merchandise came within just a few days, as advertised.
Son asks for this one (Blue Praise Baby, please). We enjoy all of the series. Athough we do not even have cable or have any type of television reception we do play videos/dvds for our son. The tv is in our bedroom so is only on a an occassional basis. I like this series espcially for going to sleep or relaxing when teething or ill. We snuggle and I verbalize what he is seeing. He laughs and smiles, relaxes and goes to sleep. The music is soothing and we adults enjoy it too!
My 11 month old just received this from her aunt and LOVES is. As soon as she hears the 1st song, she knows it's her DVD and will watch the entire 30 min. She reaches her hands out, smiles, dances and "sings" to the video. It's very engaging, and even my 3 year old likes it too! I'll definitely be buying this for baby gifts...these are some of my favorite songs too!

A run-of the-mill and highly predictable police saga with lots of stereotypes and few surprises. Minorities and women are not portrayed in a particulary flattering way.
I must admit that I have never heard of this movie before, I was only a few years old when it came out and only came about it by accident. I'm a big fan of 70's and 80s police shows and movies and mainly purchased this due to Erik Estrada of CHIPS fame. The acting was great especially the leads, Stacy Keach and George C Scott, but had great supporting performances from Estrada, Jane Alexander, and Isabel Sanford of THE JEFFERSONS tv show. What sets this apart from other police movies is that the characters and situations are more real and believeable, not over the top action sequences, though the film does have moments of action and chases. The characters are very real, not 2 dimensional cliches of cops or bad guys. You dont have to be a police officer to enjoy but if you are, you'll understand and sympathize more. The film is enjoyable for anyone, and with the exception of some fashions, music and more technological advances in law enforcement, this film stands the test of time.
This is a favorite movie of mine. The casting was superb. Outstanding performances by all especially George C. Scott. I believe this was one of Scott's (Kilvinski) best acted but least heralded roles. He played the grizzled, wily vet passing on valuable knowledge and experience to the "wet behind the ears," rookie cop. It reminded me of my experiences with veteran F.T.O's. The sixth sense that vets developed during their careers was something to behold and aspire to. I have a lot of respect and admiration for the officers who spent most if not their entire career on the streets. That is what George C. Scott successfully portrayed. Kudos to the young Stacy Keach (Fehler) whose character matures and becomes jaded during the course of the movie. I believe this was Erik Estrada's best dramatic performance unlike the over-the-top, "CHiP's" character that he became famous for. One of the jewels in this film is Clifton James' portrayal of the crafty "Whitey" Duncan. The unique way he handles the domestic disturbance between the dysfunctional married couple, in front of his trainee (Scott Wilson), was not only hilarious but demonstrates the ability of cops who can think on their feet. James B. Sikking plays the overly ambitious,ladder climbing, and glory seeking vice sergeant who is oblivious to his subordinates' needs other than his own. This is a very realistic movie in terms of character portrayals, situations, and the dreaded fall outs of this job: divorce, suicide and being killed in the line of duty. Anyone wanting to be entertained with laughter, and emotion, plus gaining insight on what a cop faces on a day-to-day basis should view this film.
Just simply the best cop movie ever. I'm a Prince George's County police officer and this is the only cop movie I have ever seen that gets it 100% right. If you haven't seen it, get it. If you are a cop movie nut, you NEED this movie.
A good police drama with fine acting by all. This is not an action film like most current police-related films, but an absorbing film.

This movie is a must for everybody who wants to underestand the Czech nature. This is not the Prague, this is the village. The different faces of one country. The great Czecho-Slovak casting features the superb actors of the socialist Czecho-Slovak era. And we should not forget the Hungarian actor playing Otik. A very soft and pleasant journey through even more pleasant Czech village summer. I love this movie and I was looking long time to find it in English... Finally... I think I get it as Xmass present for my wife. She has to underestand... the Czech nature.
What a delight! Forget the Holywood for one night and see this marvel of cinematography. You will not only be entertained in the best way movie can offer, you will be educated about people of socialism era in east Europe as well. This movies portrays life, mentality and values of ordinary villagers, whose ambitions were simple - walk trough life with a little of joy and smile on the lips. The story has a bad guy too, of course, but people in this movie, so realistic and rooted, will capture your heart. The Oscar winner director Jiri Menzel put on the screen a life with all its dimensions and he did it great - again. And by the way - you will laugh your lungs out, providing you do not laugh only at Adam Sendlers.
It's not Hollywood - it's better! I tell everyone that I love this movie. If you are comfortable with English subtitles or can understand the Czech language, buy it. You'll want to see it more than once. If it's ever on TV in your part of the world (which is how I found it), don't miss it. After you see it, you'll be rushing back to amazon.com to buy it!
"My Sweet Little Village"is a fantastic portrayal of village life and mentality in Central Europe. Set somewhere in the Czech countryside during the 1980s, the film focuses around the village simpleton Otik and the portly farm collective truck driver who has to work with him. Along the way, viewers meet all of the often odd denizens of the village. Menzel is a masterful director as his film is both funny and endearing. The actors also do a fantastic job. What makes this film so outstanding is that it is an almost perfect reflection of rural life in this part of Europe, which anyone who has spent even a little time in the villages of e.g. the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, etc. can attest to.
This movie which is well known to Czechs does a wonderful job of capturing the spirit of a Czech village (under communism) and the subtle ways in which people managed to live under those circumstances. While some of the context may be incomprehensible to foreigners the insight provided is invaluable.

The program is very silly for Adults, but Kids stay glued to the TV watching the narration of wooden trains! It is very annoying for Adults!

This was a just a plain, nice story, one of those kind I tend to favor simply because there are no "bad guys" yet the story is still interesting. Sometimes that's nice to see.

I expected Ingrid Bergman's character, "Sister Mary," from what the liner notes on the video box said, to be a sort-of villain portraying a hard-line rigid nun but that wasn't the case at all. In fact, in her several philosophical disputes with "Father Chuck O'Malley" (Bing Crosby) I sided with her because she made more sense than the too-Liberal priest who never wanted any misbehaving kid to be disciplined.

The story is a little unrealistic in that a strong-willed business tycoon would not abandon all his business plans and hand over a brand-new million-dollar (today it would be many millions) building to a church. However, it's nice to see!

These kind of old-fashioned films are almost collector's items today.

Ingrid Bergman and Bing Crosby--she's Mother Superior, he's a priest. Lots of heart and humor and Bing's crooning. Excellent oldie!
Wonderful old movie, have to watch it every Christmas along with It's a Wonderful Life and Alastair Sim's Scrooge.

The Bells of St. Mary'sworks much better for its battle of wills between a parish priest and a head nun than the dopey musical interludes that pepper it, butBellsis still a winning, emotionally satisfying film. This sequel toGoing My Wayhas Father O'Malley (Bing Crosby) taking over the St. Mary's parochial school and finding himself at loggerheads with Sister Benedict (Ingrid Bergman, looking gorgeous even in a habit). There's a wonderful balance to all of this: O'Malley takes a more worldly approach to administration and is wrong just as many times as the nun is when she insists on a more biblical approach. About four subplots suffuse the film, including the story of a young charge from the wrong side of the tracks, and the deteriorating state of St. Mary's in the shadow of a brand-new building (the owner is played by the avuncular Henry Travers). OK, I'm getting older. I admit it. But come on, Dustin Hoffman in a romantic comedy? Now? With the great English actress, Emma Thompson... She'll tower over him. Who thought this up? It's got to be quirky or artsy-fartsy, and he's simply going to whine on my nerves.

Storyline: a divorced, music ad/'jingle toons' composer heads off to England to attend his estranged daughter's wedding. His job's going down the tubes, he's lonely, depressed, jetlagged, and his ex-wife and her super, perfect husband(of course James Brolin, really towering over Dustin) are there for the bride. He's tired and grumpy and sarcastic and out of place and apparently miscast.

He blows off Emma's character who's taking surveys at the airport but later runs across her at an empty pub. Her desolate life with frequent check on you calls from mom, the ever ubiquitous, ever solid British actress Eileen Atkins(super in "Crawford") plays back and forth in comparison with Harvey's life until they discover each other.

For a day or so, they're not alone anymore but are two very human, real people, not caricatures. In the 'making of' section, both actors relate how they wanted to be more like themselves and more natural. Neither all neurotic or goofy, but intelligent and complex. There's a few silly moments, but by in large, they mute the humor and the sentimentality balancing off each other. And there are no bad people in the story just poor first impressions and life decisions.

All the actors are good. His daughter played by Canadian actress Liana Balaban is perfect showing her longstanding hurt and disappointment with her neglectful Dad but still wanting (or hoping she'll want) him there.

This flick won't appeal much for the youngsters(less than 40?)unless they want to see a mature, romantic comedy without much language, no sex, no special effects, some predictability and with the wonderful English background and the superb craft of these two amazing actors.
I bought this because I love Emma Thompson and will watch anything that she does. This was a nice movie...not one of my favorites, but nice. With all the violence and vulgarism in the films that have been released lately..this one is enjoyable and about real people.
The actors were wonderful but the story was predictable and boring. I was really looking forward it because of the actors but was disappointed in the end result. Maybe I'm cynical tho because many people I know have said it's a "must see".
This is an extremely well acted and fun romantic comedy that we (my gal and I) enjoyed. I'm not sure its something we'd watch again,and the bonus features were slight and a bit going through the motions. If you are a fan of either of the stars then its a hit. If you like romantic comedies and are an adult I highly recommend it.
A pair of superb stars, Dustin Hoffman&Emma Thompson, click as the older parent age set of common people who have had enough of life to have suffered some success and some loss. More loss than win when it comes to relationships. They are both lonely.

Those of us who are older, who have been there, who've experienced long-term lonely, will not notice the beginning of the movie as being boring and slow, but instead a reflection of how life can become tedious and difficult to adults without a mate. They fall to trying to find rewards in jobs, senior parents, adult kids, books, etc.&of course fail. It's just not the same. Youth seldom "get it". It takes a couple to decades, midlife crisis age, and commonplace failings to be able to see the story behind the story. Those people will "get it."

The second half of the movie is brilliantly played by Thompson and Hoffman, strangers who meet in London by accident, who suddenly recognize a possibility of love, a second chance, a moment of winning, a time of relationship that might...just might...be extended long-term. This is a full-length movie version of REALITY TV but done so much better.

For those who just might be too young for this type of film...I strongly suggest that first you watch the Special Feature "An Unconventional Love Story: The making of Last Chance Harvey" prior to watching the feature. That will help young adults who have not yet experienced decades of life's failures, to grasp the significance of the subtleties in the acting, the interaction between the stars, and this entertaining but realistic love story.

This is a very good movie, but for the viewers who have "been there--done that" it becomes award winning excellent.

Anyone who’s seen the trailer for Last Chance Harvey can easily guess how it ends. In fact, the title alone is a clue. But the destination is hardly the point with movies like this; it’s the journey that counts, and this one is pretty entertaining. You could call director-writer Joel Hopkins’ film a romantic comedy, but it’s not especially robust in either of those departments. This is more of a character study, and veteran lead actors Dustin Hoffman and Emma Thompson are well up to the task of bringing theirs to life. Both are awkward, lonely, social misfits. Hoffman’s Harvey Shine is a bit of a schlub; his gig as a jingle composer in jeopardy, estranged from his ex-wife (Kathy Baker) and daughter (Liane Balaban), he flies to London for the latter’s wedding, only to have her tell him that she has chosen her step-father (James Brolin) rather than him to give her away. Meanwhile, Kate Walker (Thompson) spends her days trying to survey harried travelers at Heathrow Airport, answering her meddling mother’s constant stream of cell phone calls, and awaiting the all-to-inevitable onset of spinsterhood. Harvey has already brushed her off once when, having put in a humiliating appearance at the wedding and missed his return flight to America, he runs into her in an airport bar. What ensues--the initial repartee and sarcastic snarking, the gradual breaking of the ice, the burgeoning attraction, the complications and misunderstandings--is entirely predictable. But it’s also well done. These are people one might actually identify with; when Kate tells him, "I’m more comfortable with being disappointed. I rarely use natural sweeteners for anything, but this is tasty. It easily mixes into cold beverages. I use this now as a substitute for honey when I cook or bake. I have also tried it in coffee and tea. It is versatile. I end up using less to get the amount of sweetness I need. Since this is low-glycemic, it is good for those who are watching their caloric or sugar intake. There is no sugar high and then crash a little while later. Give this a try.
THis was recommended by a friend. Great product. We use it in coffee and tea. You can use less than you would of sugar so you save some calories. Best is all natural unprocessed sugar.
Fermented Agave nectar is a really refreshing drink with a twist of lime. I usually use a wine yeast when I make some. In Mexico they ferment an Agave drink called Pulque. The best kind of nectar to use in dark unfiltered, it has the most nutrients. I find it helps to add a little honey to get the yeast going. I use about 1/2 gallon of nectar to make a 3 gallon batch. It takes a long time to ferment like honey. You can also distill Pulque to make Teqkillya! A good addmixure plant to Agave nectar is Yarrow. Yarrow contains thujones, the active intoxicant found in Absinthe (derived from Wormwood) but without all the toxic sideffects. It can be 5% alcohol but with Yarrow added it'll feel more like 8% alcohol. Cactus prickly pears are also good to mix in Agave nectar fermentations but it's an expensive addition. There's nothing like it on a hot day. Yeah, I know most of you won't like my review. Oh well, I'll deal with it.
I just love to have Amber Agave Nectar in my coffee every morning and in my afternoon iced Latte with Soy milk. Its a healthier choise. The agave nectar will not mess up your blood sugars if you are a diabetic. Its low glycemic. But it does have some calories. I also cook with it. I've put it in cakes&muffins. I think its real good!

I use stevia packets for coffee and tea and I love it however the drops are not very good and do not recommend them
This is great! I've been adding it to things like iced coffee, lattes, and black cherry carbonated water. This has been helping to ween myself off of sweets. yay!
The bottle use to say 'Dark Chocolate'... so I don't know if this is the same.

My chiropractor recommended Stevia as an alternative to the artificial sweeteners I had been using. I had been having chronic migraines, which he deduced were a result of my use of Aspartame. Initially I was skeptical, but decided to give it a shot anyway. I am happy to say that since I now use Stevia instead of any artificial sweeteners, I'm headache free! Stevia comes in lots of flavors, even rootbeer, which I've used in sparkling water in place of diet soda - it's delicious and no headaches! What could be better ...highly recommend! (PS this is the best price I've found anywhere ...)
I hate artificial sweeteners, and I'm not absolutely crazy about Stevia, which has a very strong, sweet taste (different from sugar) but I really wanted to break my mocha habit and cut back on sweets. Two drops of this in skim milk and coffee makes an excellent substitute for my old heaping teaspoon of sweetened cocoa.

I'd like to carry this in my purse to change those impulse Starbucks Mochas into Skinny Lattes, but the bottle says to refrigerate "for freshness" after opening, so I'm not sure how perishable it is.

I absolutely love Altoids gum. While I've tried them all Peppermint is still my favorite! I started chewing Altoids gum when I used to smoke. The strong fresh flavor keep my breath fresh. I've since stopped smoking (Thank God!) but I still love this gum. I chew it after meals when brushing isn't available. I always have a tin in my purse. The fact that it's sugarless is a major plus, but the taste is Fabulous. I sincerely hope that they are not going to discontinue it as one of the reviewers commented. There is no other product on the market that even comes close.
This is my very favorite gum ever!! It leaves your mouth so refreshed and I would imagine leave you with nice breath. Love it, Love it, Love it!!!!!!!

You can never miss with these Melissa and Doug chunky puzzles. They are durable, easy to manipulate and a favorite of my two-year-old daughter. I buy them for my daughter and also buy them as gifts. So many babies get clothes at a shower; I buy these puzzles instead. Babies will be playing with them even before they are one-year-old. These puzzles are always welcome. I find the pets in this puzzle particularly endearing.
Melissa and Doug puzzles are great for toddlers who are learning how the world is categorized and put together. We own a standard poodle and our granddaughter constantly takes the piece out of the puzzle and says the dog's name. She's learning how to turn the pieces to fit them in the puzzle.

This is not a peg puzzle. The pieces are solid and large but not too large for a two year old to abuse. The pictures on front of each puzzle piece are also in the matching puzzle board. Each piece of puzzle is about an inch thick.

I have bought several for my nieces and nephews and they love them. The chunky pieces are great for little hands.
My daughter and I love the Melissa&Doug puzzles. This puzzle has nice big pieces that are easy for my toddler to grasp and the puzzles are always fun and colorful. I recommend the Melissa&Doug puzzles for any toddler.

(Excellent for letter recognition (the ABC song is not just a song))

I bought this for my son when he was about 26 months old. At the time, he could identify all of the upper case letters. With the help of this puzzle, he quickly learned all of the lower case letters. By the time he was 2 1/2, he could build this puzzle all by himself, as long as I made sure all of the pieces were turned over for him.
At first, I only gave him 3 or 4 pieces at a time so that he wasn't too overwhelmed. Once he got those pieces in, I gave him 3 or 4 more, until it was finished.
This is a great first puzzle because all of the pieces go left to right (excellent prereading skill). It's also easy to tell if the piece is upside down so it minimizes confusion.
I have bought this puzzle countless times for gifts because we love it so much. I continue to recommend it to family and friends. Soon, I will need to buy a new one for my son because after daily use, it is showing it's wear. But, it's held up very well over the last year and has been worth every penny.
A great puzzle for my 4 year old who loves trains and is learning the alphabet.
My 2 year old loves this puzzle. The puzzle is big, but she loves to see the train grow across the room. It's very durable, and she has learned both animals and her letters and can do the puzzle now by herself at 2.5.
This is a great puzzle for many reasons. First for parents this is a sturdy puzzle. We are in a puzzle phase right now and this puzzle is not showing any signs of wear. Second, the pictures are great. Some of the ABC animals are not ones that you normally find in the ABC books. Plus it is a train and with a boy, trains are always great.
This puzzle is a great beginning puzzle for a young pre-schooler. We bought this puzzle for our 3 year old. It is challenging for her as well as entertaining. I rated this puzzle 5 stars, but if 4.75 stars were an option, that would be a more accurate rating. It is not flawless - the main problem is that Melissa and Doug illustrated "X" with a fox, which obviously does not start with X. Admittedly, there aren't many animals that start with X. In fact, I can only think of xenops, and this is thanks to an ABC book my daughter had when she was younger. Further, every piece except for U is an animal - U is illustrated with an umbrella. This seems inconsistent. Unicorn would have been a better option.

Aside from these relatively minor flaws, this puzzle is fantastic. There are 28 pieces. Two pieces form the locomotive and the other 26 pieces correspond to a train car illustrated with a letter in upper and lower case and an animal (except for the aforementioned umbrella) that starts with that letter (except for the fox for x). The puzzle is 10 feet long, so you need a big space to put it together. My daughter loves how long it is. And I love that it is one long puzzle because this forces my daughter to think about the alphabet song, identify the letter that comes next, search for and find the letter she identified and then fit that letter into the puzzle. Before she got this puzzle, I *thought* she knew her letters and the alphabet. However, I realized that she didn't really think about each letter she sang in the song as corresponding to a with a letter in the written form. Similarly, while she could identify a letter as written when we showed it to her, she found it challenging to think about alphabetical order and hunt for the correct letter - she had to picture the letter in her mind in order to locate the letter. Thus, this puzzle was highly educational for her. When we first got the puzzle, each time we sat with her and sang the ABC song with her as we pointed to the letters. When we got to the last letter she had fitted into the puzzle, we would pause and ask what comes next. Once she identified that letter, she would search to it and we'd repeat our previous procedure, singing the alphabet song and identifying the next letter.

The pieces are very good quality and I can tell that they will last a long time. They fit well together but are not too loose. The peices are nice, chunky and thick. As I mentioned above, the puzzle is very long, so my daughter must sit on the floor and sift through the pieces to find the correct letter. This makes assembly of this puzzle particularly fun and interactive.

You really can't go wrong with Melissa and Doug products. I purchased this for my almost two year old son and he immediately loved it because it was "cars". He can easily do the puzzle and enjoys driving the pieces around on the couch. The colors are vibrant and the design of the puzzle is very sturdy and high quality.
Another wonderful Melissa and Doug chunky puzzle. It is durable and easy to manipulate. The large trucks and machines are appealing to both boys and girls and allow you to add interesting words to their vocabulary. These make nice gifts and are made to last.
I am a big fan of M&D toys - they are generally of high quality and seem to be hits with my boy/girl twins. As other reviewers have noted, the decals on the pieces of this puzzle do come off if they get wet/chewed on...so not good if your toddler is teething, or just likes to put things in his/her mouth still. But besides that, I really like this puzzle - my kids love to play pretend with the vehicles, making different sounds for each type. The "wells" that the pieces fit in are a bit shallow, so for younger toddlers (mine are 18-months), it can be a little difficult to get the pieces to stay in. I still like Melissa&Doug Large Shapes Jumbo Puzzle as a basic first puzzle for young toddlers.
My only issue with the new Melissa&Doug puzzles is that they are no longer painting the face and the backs of the pieces. They were much nicer before! But I guess it saves in manufacturing costs...so it's not all bad for those of us trying to conserve. It's also less paint to worry about your child ingesting, though I wonder what chemicals are in the wood itself? :/

Little ones love these puzzles, though! My daughter was really into them very early on, around 1 yr old, but my son didn't like them much until about 18 mos. So if you introduce these and they show little or no interest (other than chewing on the pieces!) then put them away for a while and bring them back out in a couple months! When children don't like or play with toys it's usually because they are not age-appropriate...so try again later!
My daughter LOVES this puzzle. She began playing with it and an animal Melissa&Doug puzzle when she was 6 months old. She still loves playing with them now that she is 13 months old. I am a preschool and kindergarten teacher and know the importance of puzzles in a childs development. These puzzles are great learning "toys." They work not only on fine motor skills but hand eye coordination and verbal skills. My daughter is just now figuring out how the pieces go in. Also, she loves to say "CAR" or "Vroom" every time she picks up one of the trucks. With the animal puzzle she picks them up and says the names of the animals and the sounds. Definitely worth the $$!

The baking book was excellent and has wonderful recipes in it.
The tips are very helpful and it just is what I had hoped it would be.
I am very, very satisfied.
This is a great cookbook with beautiful illustrations. The recipes are easy to follow. I've made several already, including the Whole Lemon Muffins and they are awesome. The pastries is what got me to buy the book; however, there are lots of recipes for other things that are worth trying.
I just recently purchased The Pastry Queen, and while I have not had the time yet to make any of Rebecca Rather's delicious sweets and pastries, she has some incredible-sounding recipes. I was surprised to find that she also included savory dishes as well in her book: tortilla soup, quesadillas, and salsas. The beautiful photograph on the cover suggests the book is all about pastry, but that is not the case.
The recipes are delicious; yesterday, I made the Sugar Saucers for my family and dipped them in melted bittersweet chocolate and they were a big hit. Beautiful photography, really different and creative recipes, and a folksy tone that makes me miss Texas (I'm from Austin but we currently live in frigid Ohio). Three minor complaints however: one, some of the recipes are ridiculously large and although you could halve them, it would be difficult to do so. Two, I may be just spoiled but in this nice, luxurious book with unusual and pretty food and where the book itself seems a guilty pleasure, I'd like a picture of each recipe. She describes this peach dulce de leche cake but no picture! Three, the tone is at times a bit too braggy and self-congratulatory and at points she goes from being the best baker on the block to being the person who just says she's the best baker on the block, if you know what I mean. All minor quibbles that are easily dealt with, but that keep this book from being the really incredible book that it could have been. And it passed the main cookbook test: all of the food made so far has tasted fantastic.
We visited the Rather Sweet Bakery in Fredericksburg, TX last year and I LOVED it. We ended up going there for breakfast every morning we were there. When I saw she had a book with the actual recipes from her restaurant I could not resist.

Everything I have made has been perfect. These recipes are not for the person looking to lose weight (butter, suger, YUMMY!), but they are absolutely delicious. I have not had one thing come out less than delicious. I love the scones, kolaches, and chocolate chip cookies (the best I have ever made or eaten). If I cooked from this as much as I wanted I would be so fat (but very happy). I swear this cookbook has made my husband and little boys love me more!!!

One note, most recipes make enough for a party, so I would suggest cutting the recipes in half if you are a family of 4 like us.

If you're a fan of Jill Conner Browne and her Sweet Potato Queen series, you will enjoy this latest addition. It came out with very little fanfare. I have always preordered her books and didn't even realize this one was out until I saw it at Borders.

I wouldn't label it as her best or chock full of all sorts of new stuff, but it is very enjoyable and a solid read. Taken for what it is- a funny, well-written and pleasant book, it is well worth the time.

If you've read and/or own the rest of the series, you'll definately want to pick this one up as well! I've been to a couple of her book signing, but have not seen one announced for this tome. If she does a reading and signing near you, be sure to check it out!

I am a reader and collector of cookbooks and I try at least one recipe from each book I keep in my collection. This book, I know, will become my holiday "go to" for my desserts. This book was also a great read. I am now looking for other cookbooks by this author. Loved the family history which goes along with each recipe. Because after all, food, tastes, and smells, provide memories.
This is a delightful book. I loved learning about her family, the pictures were a treasure, but the people are what touches your heart. And of course, the recipes. . . an added bonus! I intend to give this book as a gift to many, and treasure my own copy.
This book is full of wonderful recipes and stories. I read it cover to cover I couldn't put it down!! I made My My's strawberry cake the day I received the book. This book is a keeper.
I just got this book today having loved Sweety Pies -- this book is a fantastic read, great family photos and delicious and wonderful sounding recipes.
I have had this cookbook for approximately 1 year, and I bought it for its beauty and nostalgia. This Thanksgiving, however, I wanted to try a new recipe for Sweet Potato Pie, and I used this one.
This was, HANDS DOWN, the BEST sweet potato pie that I have EVER made.
It was WONDERFUL, and I am going to pass this recipe, and this book, down to MY daughter.

These were true to their purpose and super comfortable too as Keens should be! I wore them hiking in Hana HI on rugged terrain AND without even having "broken them in" and they were confortable from start to finish- no blisters! Awesome product and worth the price.
