(Smells great)
(soft, subtle scent)
(orange oil extract gives pleasant smell to air) I use this in my homemade laundry detergent and I love it! It smells wonderfully sweet without being overwhelming. Oil smells great. Use sparingly if you are using to make your own laundry detergent. More than a drop or two in your mix can stain clothes in the wash. I've used this in my humidifier at work... it smells great. Just how you would think, sweet orange. I bought this to use in my car as a freshener and in potpourri in my home. Nice, not overwhelming. Place this in your humidifier to add the clean fresh smell of orange to the air A zesty, sweet citrus aroma, Sweet Orange is cheering, refreshing, and uplifting. Orange, like all citrus fruits, plays an important role in Chinese medicine. It is used for brightening dull or oily complexions. As a skin conditioner, it soothes dry, irritated, or acne-prone skin. Aromatherapists use Sweet Orange to treat muscular tension, poor circulation, obesity, water retention, bronchitis, colds, constipation, and stress-related symptoms. In vapor therapy or diluted in a bath, Orange oil can be an effective booster to the immune system for colds and flu, eliminating toxins, nervous tension and stress. (Excellent toy)
(I am wowed..)
(Cool Toy and Kinda Nerdy) I found this toy by accident after searching for a stacking toy for a two-year-old. It is terrific! She quickly learned how to build with it, and her older sisters and parents love it, too. They fight over who gets to build with it. Now I need to buy some of the expansion kits so they can build bigger and better. We've bought Wedgits for our own kids (both boys, 3 and 4), and we've bought them to give away. They are so much fun to play with and they keep the kids occupied for a very long time. They love to build up and out, and they like trying to build the pictures on the box. Great gift for yourself or someone else! My 2 year old loves this toy. She sits and plays with this set for an hour or more at a time. It's great! I opened the box, looked at the odd looking pieces and thought how can one play this toy. But boy, was I wrong? my whole family, grand parents, parents, kids, all had so much fun making shapes out of this toy. It is remarkably easy to make complex shapes. I will give this toy 10 stars if I can. The pieces are very solid and sturdy.
Wedgits is a cool toy, a great alternative to other conventional blocks. The starter set is made up of 15 colorful pieces. It is easy enough for the little ones because unlike Duplos you do not need to press hard to stack them. They are also light enough that even if the blocks fall it won't hurt their fingers. There are myriad of ways to stack them that it is really a fun way to encourage creativity and motor control.
The box says for ages 3 to 103. My 2 year old is having fun with them along with her older brother who is 4. I love tinkering with them too but as with the older kids, it could have been more fun if there are more pieces. Early Einsteins emerge with Wedgits. Simply put, Wedgits distinguish themselves as a manipulative masterpiece. This set is just right for your toddler and continues to provide building fun for years to come. Winner of over 7 awards for educational value. Wedgits invite complex thinking, experimentation, and construction. They refine spatial orientation, perceptual skills, dexterity, and the understanding of geometric concepts. Possibilities with these bright, primary colored, chunky plastic pieces are endless! The blocks of this manipulative toy wedge together so that children can find endless ways to build, balance, stack, or nest them horizontally and vertically. Wedgits blocks appeal to all ages. No educational toy rivals the fun as the youngest artisan learns while building as high as possible&knocking them down in a noisy clatter. As your little genius grows, so do the creation possibilities with this unique toy. Use your imagination or the design booklet to form amazing structures&shapes. (Simple to Complex) Wedgits Starter Set includes 15 intriguing pieces. All Wedgits blocks are 100% compatible. Great Minds Are Built With Wedgits! customer 's review (Very disappointed)
(Good, organic seeds)
(Not sure, because it was a gift)
(Easy route to an excellent herb garden.)
(Well Done) I will never order from this company again. The amount they charged for shipping such a small package was outrageous. When I placed this order, I also placed 2 other orders, book orders, with other vendors; their shipping rate was much cheaper and I received both book shipments the day after my herb seeds arrived. You pay this huge shipping cost to be sent FedEx yet I received my book order via postal service at a much better rate and almost as timely manner. Plus I placed my ordered because of the reviews, others wrote stating that their seeds arrived in small pill type containers, my ordered arrived in plain white seed packets. I was giving this as a gift and very disappointment. I would have been better off if I had gone to a local nursery and purchased seed packets. Again, I will never use this company again, a huge rip off!!!!
They come in cute little hard plastic boxes (kinda like pill boxes) for easy and dry storage. I gave as a gift and am not sure of their satisfaction at this point A good selection of herbs. All seeds germinated. Arrived in a strip of well marked plastic containers. I used only half of each herb and reserved the remainder for replanting as many herbs are annuals. Great product. Arrived promptly, every thing was separated into labeled pill box like containers, and by the end of the month all but one of the plants has sprouted. The plants did not come with growing instructions, however they were easy enough to find online. QUALITY&QUANTITY GUARANTEE Each Packet comes with lots of seed, grow herbs indoors and outdoors! Plenty of seed to experiment with and grow a full herb garden! Our seed is also Guaranteed to grow! (BEST LEARNING TOOL!)
(Simple Fun That Won't Bug Mom)
(What a great discovery!!) My 18 month old loves "NUMBERS NURSERY". After watching it two times, he was reciting 1-5, and within a week he has learned 1-10. I don't know if it was the video or his age, but I was amazed at the results. It keeps him entertained, as does all the Einstein videos! Teaching babies the numbers 1-5 is great and all, but I am beyond perplexed why in the world Baby Einstein stopped at the number 5. Do they really think that babies can't learn more than that? Good grief! They are just getting started there! This DVD is very entertaining. Indeed,it is mostly entertainment as the numbers one through five will be mastered in very short order there by making it pure entertainment. Save your money and buy Rochard Scary's Best Counting Video Ever. It is just as entertaining (if not more so) and goes to number 20, withj lots of cute dialogue that babies love. Similarly, check out Leap Frog Letter Factory (for letters) and Trebellina (for music). You won't be disappointed. NUMBERS NURSERY IS THE BEST! My husband and I are both teachers and we love Baby Einstein educational videos. Although the numbers nursery says that it goes 1-5; there is a special tab on the menu that shows a video for numbers 1-10. My daughter is 16 months and is able to say and recognize numbers 1-10. Of course we worked with her individually but the numbers nursery video is also a great asset as well. It is an extension of what you are already doing with your child. DEFINITELY BUY THIS VIDEO. YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT. These movies are well loved by my little girl ever since she was 3 months. (she's 10m now) They capture her attention and are a big help for those "bad days." Plus they're instructive and refreshingly simple with soothing classical music.
BE Numbers Nursery is great fun with no obnoxious songs that get stuck in tired mothers' minds. I highly recommend it over some of the other B.E. videos! Great for Baby and Mom! I had heard of Baby Einstein in passing by other people but since my children are grown and in college...except for one that is in High School I didn't have to be in the new ways of teaching children(babies) how to learn their numbers and shapes. Now, that I'm a grandparent I started looking for different ways that I could not only entertain but educate my grand child. I came across Baby Einsten Numbers and Shapes Discovery Cards. Wow, how things have changed in 22 years anyway my grad daughter seem to be captivated by the colors...it was then that I saw that two different videos(dvd) went with the cards(this being one of them and Baby Newton) to help re-enforce what the children see on the cards and vise versa.
When I first showed my grand daughter the video she was anything but intrested but I put it in a little later after she had ate and took her nap and she was just enthralled by what she was looking at on the tape.
I wish they had these when my children were growing up but one thing is for sure my grand daughter will be a Baby Einstein baby...I have already ordered other products and can't wait for them to arrive and watch my grand daughter's face.

(Your little one's gonna loooooove it!)
(My son loves it!)
(My two year old's favorite!) What can I say?? My almost 3 year old is obsessed with this video!!!! She knows all of the songs and dances, and wants to watch it over and over, and has 100's of times. I definitely recommend this one, a good mix of high energy and a few slow songs too. While this is probably one of the original Wiggles DVD's it was nice to see them without any of the new special effects that they've gone to. My 14 month old grandson loves it. It's one of the few things that he'll slow down and watch. I'm totally satisfied with this dvd. I bought several wiggles at a time. and this! this is the one of best dvd to me and my little girl(22 mos old). 'Rock-a-bye your bear','Here comes a bear','uncle noah's ark','Quack quack' are my daughter's favorite. I'm sure this is also top dvd of tots. Moreover, there are three live songs - 'wave to wags', 'five little ducks(sung by murray), 'wiggle medley(?)'. I fell in love with these guys and their passion for tots. I really appreciate their efforts and what they've done. Every moms should buy this for their little ones. I love wiggle time for my 2 yr old son. You should definitely purchasd this one. Wiggle Time was the first video my two year old showed any interest in. The Wiggles have catchy tunes, bright colors, and silly antics. The actions (dancing), work like a toddler workout video. (*Wonderful Music* That's Stood The Test Of Time!)
(Presumptuous title-But a great compilation)
(great music even after all these years)
(Enjoyable) This was absolutely wonderful. It was used as background music for a 100th birthday part and it fit in perfectly! It truely is the only big band cd you will ever need!
When I was a small child I remember hearing songs like "In The Mood" and "Stompin' At The Savoy" and taking an immediate liking to them even though they were recorded some 30-40 years before I was born.
As an adult and listening to them now on THE ONLY BIG BAND CD YOU'LL EVER NEED, I'm amazed that those songs haven't lost their magic or charm. In fact, I like them even more. You just can't help listening to this CD and not tap your foot and/or bob your head.
The beat is infectious and uplifting and I see why this music has such a long shelf life. Add songs like "Sing, Sing, Sing," "It Don't Mean A Thing," "Tuxedo Junction," "I'm In The Mood For Love," and "Ya Gotta Try," though the latter was recorded in the 70s by a modern big band, and the CD lives up to its name.
Of course, I'm sure that this is just a great appetizer to even more tasty treasures waiting to be discovered in the swing/big band category of music.
The songs included were recorded from 1927-1977. The reason I deducted one-star is because of the murky sound quality on some material that was recorded before the 1940s. I know that this is a limitation from the source material and can't be helped, but I also know that some customers won't appreciate that muffled sound.
I'm sure that most--if not all of these songs--have been re-recorded by other orchestras/bands but with this CD you get the originals.
THE ONLY BIG BAND...CD comes with a small booklet with an intro and information on each track to learn more. Very enjoyable. Might I also suggest Hooked on Swing CD. This came out in the 80s and contains re-recorded medleys of some of these classic swing/big band songs and sounds great! The perfect intro to this music of yesteryear! I'l get the one thing that I didn't like out of the way and then address what a great disc this is. The title, probably meant tongue in cheek, implies that this compilation is the beginning and end of all the big-band recording you will ever need. Ironically, because this disc is so good, it contradicts its title. If you like a certain track, let's say by the Glen Miller Orchestra, you want more than just the three tracks presented here. That will obviously require you to look for some more recordings. OK, enough said about that.
This is a great compilation of recordings from the big-band era. To anyone even remotely interested in this era and style of music, there probably aren't any long-lost favorites that are unearthed here. But the selection of songs is very broad and gives a wonderful taste of songs you may have lost touch with.
I have several Glen Miller discs but don't have any Cab Calloway. Now I have a little bit of his work and can look to finding more that fits my taste.
Digital recording is a wonderful thing but it can only transfer cleanly what it has to work with. There are a couple of times when you can tell that the original recording just couldn't capture the sound. Therefore the CD has the same limitations. Luckily these moments are very few.
This will not turn your neighborhood rapper into a big-band enthusiast but if you or someone you know has a spot in their heart for big-band swing, this is a fantastic collection. The Only Big Band CD You'll Ever Need isn't completely comprehensive; but as a single CD retrospective it works. The quality of the sound is rather good and the artwork is excellent. We get a good sampler of what made people dance back in the era of the great big bands.
"Chattanooga Choo-Choo" starts the CD off with a huge hit! We get this classic tune performed by some really big names from the big band era: Glenn Miller, Tex Beneke, Paula Kelly and The Modernaires. "Chattanooga Choo-Choo" has a fine side dish of swing that works very well for this number; and Tex Beneke really sings his heart out on this number. "Stompin' At The Savoy" stands out just as brightly; Benny Goodman&His Orchestra never miss a beat and Benny's legendary high standards for quality control produce this marvelous hit. We then get "Take the 'A' Train" by Duke Ellington; and that's grand. "Take The 'A' Train" sounds just as fresh today as when they first recorded it; and the band handles the quick tempo changes very well.
"Tempo And Swing" by Lionel Hampton&His Orchestra packs a full punch that makes you tap your toes even in our times; and listen for "In The Mood" by Glenn Miller&His Orchestra. "In the Mood" was a huge big band hit but no one ever did it any better than Glenn Miller did! "Bill's Mill" showcases the wonderful talents of Count Basie&His Orchestra; "Bill's Mill" may not be as famous or well known as "In The Mood" but it's a fine piece of music anyway. I predict you'll like it.
"Ya Gotta Try" has a great jazz arrangement by Buddy Rich&His Orchestra; and it sounds really good even today. "Ya Gotta Try" is a tune I really like. Of course, Duke Ellington and his mates return to do yet another snazzy number entitled "It Don't Mean A Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing)." I love it!
"(I've Got A Gal In) Kalamazoo" comes to us courtesy of Glenn Miller&His Orchestra with Tex Beneke, The Modernaires and Marion Hutton. Tex Beneke sang so well; he deserves to be remembered more than he is today. "I'm In The Mood For Love" shines bright as Tommy Dorsey&His Orchestra perform it with panache; the brass is used well on "I'm In The Mood For Love" and this enhances the natural beauty of this number. The CD ends with "Sing, Sing, Sing (With A Swing) (Parts 1&2)" by Benny Goodman&His Orchestra; what a great way to end this album!
Although the CD gives us nothing but outstanding big band music; it really isn't the only big band CD you'll ever need. This is best used as a starter CD for people wanting to get better acquainted with big band music so that they can then find more CDs by the specific artists here--and by other artists of the big band era, too.
I tend to value quality over authenticity and so the poor sound of this CD is a negative for me. It was great to hear the Benny Goodman rendition of "Sing, Sing, Sing" as it is one of my favorites, that I've only listened to recent recordings of. Great songs, yes. Any collector should have a CD like this on their shelves. Rerations < The Only Big Band CD You'll Ever Need >

customer 's review (Must see movie)
(Being there.)
(Uncut Dvd Please!!!)
(Please release it on DVD!)
(One of the greatest cavalry charges ever) This is one of the most exciting war time epics I have ever seen. Visually stunning with a memorable score by Mario Millo. This is the true story of the last mounted charge in history. Australian Lighthorsemen attack the German-Turkish stronghold at Beersheba during World War One. Excellent in every way, and one of the most exciting charge sequences ever committed to film. While I love this movie, I don't think it is as good as the Aussie classic,`Gallipoli'. Having said that, it holds a very special place in my heart.
When `The Lighthorsemen' premiered in Australia in I think, 1988, I was in the process of interviewing a dozen or so local First World War veterans (they are all gone now). One, Douglas Ellibank-Murray, rode with the 12th Lighthorse Regiment during WW1 and participated in the charge at Beersheba. He told a fascinating tale of his time with the 12th after having enlisted as a young drover (cowboy), along with his horse.
While Doug` was happy to speak about his service and the assault on Beersheba in particular, he would not talk about what happened when the Aussies reached the Turkish trenches. This, despite my persistent if gentle probing. I suspect that things happened there that Doug` wanted left alone. There has been talk of Turkish soldiers having `surrendered' then firing on the Australians. It has been reported that some arbitary executions were carried out in response.
One of my life's greatest pleasure was to accompany Doug to the movie's local premier where he was, of course, guest of honour. While quite frail, he appreciated all the attention, especially from the young ladies present. He was still a charming and quite handsome man, not unlike the 19 year old, blue eyed and blonde haired drover who had enlisted back in 1915.
I watched Doug closely out of the corner of my eye throughout `The Lighthorsemen' and the only time he appeared to become animated was when the actual charge was underway; he was moving about quite a bit and I suspect, he was there again.
After the movie, Doug offered a number of technical comments including the fact that the Turkish trenches were inaccurately portrayed as relatively straight, when in fact they were of saw-tooth construction.
The fate of the `whalers' (the name given to the horses, most of who had come from the AUSTRALIAN State of New South Wales). Many were in fact `put down' rather than end up pulling a `gypoe's' (Egyptian) cart in downtown Cairo. Doug was in a bit of a state worrying about what would happen to his own beloved horse until approached by a Britsh officer who had admired the horse and wanted to take it to his next posting in India to be used as a polo pony.
After assessing the `Pommy' officer and his handling of the horse, Doug agreed. The officer wrote to Doug for many years telling him about the horse which was eventually retired and died of old age in India.
Doug Ellibank-Murray was a lovely man and then a living legend of that famous day in October 1917. This film has long been a favorite for me, even without the 15 minutes an earlier reviewer described. There is no excuse for a beautifully filmed movie such as this not to be available on dvd in its entirety. This film needs to be released on DVD with anamorphic widescreen treatment. I'm so tired of waiting for it. As many other reviewers have pointed out this is a fantastic film and one that should be seen by anyone interested in horses in wartime. The real issue is how to see it at it's best. If you want to see all of it the only choice is the American release on laser disc. This is in the full original widescreen of 2.35:1, but of course has analogue video and on the big screen it is quite grainy. The recent Australian release on DVD is a disgrace. It has good digital video but is cut to 1.78:1 and critical parts of the film are of course cut off. They have minimised this slightly by opening up the top and bottom a little so I suppose the actual cut may be nearer 1.85:1 but the grand vistas REQUIRE the full 2.35:1. The famous charge looks ridiculous at the cut back ratio. One can only hope that whoever has the rights to this film in the US will do the right thing and give us a deluxe full size release as soon as possible. I am sticking to my LD despite it's shortcomings. The Australian DVD will be better than tape but whoever decided to issue it in such a truncated version should be ashamed of himself. customer 's review (Remember this is a MOVIE...)
(Please Someone put this out on dvd)
(walking dead again)
(The Walking Dead)
(Only the military could bring them together) I always have to debunk those negative remarks when it comes to military movies. First of all, the U.S. government is not going to allow a true movie to come about any mission. Secondly, the director got the idea from someone who was obviously involved in this situation so don't blame them, blame the person who told it. Black Hawk Down contained fallacies itself. Don't believe me? The next time you watch a "military" movie, watch it with a servicemember: They will find something wrong. ACTUAL REPRESENTATION IS NOT ALLOWED.
I enjoyed this movie immensely: The actors work well together and it imparts the idea that everyone has a reason for joining the military. It is interesting and I am happy to have it as part of my movie collection. This movie was a really good movie to sit down and just enjoy. If you take it as a military movie you might get pissed but itsa just a great movie. Please somebody put this out on dvd once more into the breach we go is my motto I believe to my view that the movie was great to a point. Semper Fi, Mac! It is a crying shame that the producers of this piece of crap chose to use this title. First Battalion Ninth Marine Regiment nicknamed"The Walking Dead"has been done a tremendous discredit by having their name associated with such Hollywood garbage. Read the book instead and don't waste one penny on this junk. The real story of 1/9 would make a tremendous movie. A preacher fleeing a town in which he murdered his wife and her lover, a teenage boy showing his love to his high school sweetheart, a former meatpacker trying to get money to start his own business, a mechanic trying to get onbase housing and fleeing housing discrimination in L.A., and a trigger happy guy fleeing the mob. This crew unites in The Marine Corps on a rescue mission that turns out to be a decoy mission. Hoover (Eddie Griffin) makes the movie enjoyable while Sgt. Barkley (joe Morton) keeps it military. Cole ( Allen Payne) keeps it real with the tiki and his insistence on not calling Muhammad Ali Cassius Clay. This movie covers the Black Veteran in Vietnam in a dramatic way. Starring Allen Payne and Eddie Griffin, five young marines are on a deadly mission in a desperate struggle for survival. How did they get to be there - and how are they going to get out alive? customer 's review (Mediocre Eddy/MacDonald Fare)
(Not as good as their other movies....but)
(A TEPID, MEDIOCRE FILM...)
(The Title Says It All:"Bitter Sweet")
(A grocery list would sound wonderful !) The wonderful voices of and personal chemistry between Nelson Eddy and Jeanette MacDonald always makes a movie worthwhile.
The story revolves around Sarah Millick (Jeanette), a young English woman who on the eve of her arranged wedding, abandons her wealth&social position to elope with Karl Linden (Nelson), her Viennese music instructor and a struggling composer.
Living on love alone proves a challenge to the couple and provides both the humor and the tragedy of the story. Bitter Sweet provides several fine songs for both singers and they make the most of them. However, the script is weak and the unsatisfactory ending, which includes the shortest duel in history, spoils the enjoyment of the rest of the movie and leaves the viewer with a feeling of emptiness.
If you are a fan of Nelson and Jeanette, don't pass on this one, but you'll find the story isn't up to their talents.
Jeanette and Nelson movies succeeded more when done in black and white, and especially where Nelson was the hero and Jeanette the kind of damsell in distress..but there was always adventure...great sets and great singing... In Bittersweet, Nelson does'nt look like himself compared to other films, maybe his health was not the best ... i even remember this film from my youth and even then i knew that this one was not like the others. Hey, Nelson and Jeanette only made 8 films together ...so Bittersweet for all fans is also a must see and a keeper for the collection. This movie, while cinematically colorful, is a mediocre offering by the usually radiant singing duo, Nelson Eddy and Jeanette MacDonald. Here, Ms. MacDonald plays the role of Sarah, a Victorian era, young Englishwoman who is about to enter into an arranged marriage with Harry, a stuffy Englishman. Sarah also has a voice teacher named Karl (Nelson Eddy) with whom she makes beautiful music and falls in love. On practically the eve of her wedding, she and Karl declare themselves to each other and run away together to his native Vienna after getting hitched. There, she lives the impoverished life of a young wife happily married to a struggling composer, as Karl finishes writing his cherished operetta. While in Vienna, Sari, as Sarah is now called, makes the acquaintance of two individuals who are to have a great impact on her life, a rakish Baron and member of the Austrian Emperor's dashing Hussars (George Sanders) and a simpatico English Lord (Ian Hunter). Unfortunately, the Baron ultimately tries to seduce the unwilling Sari with catastrophic results. This film was understandably a flop, as it pales alongside this singing duo's other cinematic pairings. Jeanette MacDonald is radiant as always, but as she was nearly forty years old at the time, it is difficult to believe her in the role of a young woman in her late teens. Nelson Eddy played the role of Karl as it he were in a state of near catatonic shock. It is hard to believe how he could sweep any woman off her feet, much less anyone as vivacious as Sarah. In fact, the acting in his death scene was little different from that when playing the living Karl in love with the woman his dreams. George Sanders, however, is excellent as the scheming, villainous Baron, and Ian Hunter is charming in the role of the English Lord. Still, these two performances alone could not save a film that was doomed from the beginning by a weak screenplay, third rate music, and uneven performances. In fact, one of the scenes was downright embarrassing, with Jeanette MacDonald singing a dreadful song with a bizarre French accent. Moreover, the death scene was over in the blink of an eye, as if Nelson Eddy could not disappear from this film quickly enough. It was quite bizarre and totally lacking tension or cinematic fire. It was totally anti-climactic. This film was apparently based upon a Noel Coward operetta. Until I saw this film, I had no idea Noel Coward was a composer. Now I know why I had never heard of his music, if this is an example of it. Still, those who are fans of Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy will find some redeeming value in this sentimental mish-mosh. If, however, you are not a fan of theirs, deduct one star from my rating. "Bittersweet"is NOT a favourite of mine... hard to say whether it or"I Married an Angel"is my least favourite J/N flick. Still, due to Nelson's presence, it is somewhat bearable. I really adore both Nelson and Jeanette, don't get me wrong. What I really didn't like was the fact that the entire thing seemed tossed together without much thought or plan for a plot. Like what point did that Tokay scene make?? I mean, it was adorable to see him bouncing Jeanette on that table, but usually the songs and scenes in their films serve some purpose. The storyline in general is just rather obscure.Jeanette's gowns I found a bit much - it seems Adrian must have been in a wild mood a couple times... some were okay: I really liked the blue one she wore at the beginning and the satin ones she wore at Schlick's. The apricot one at the last café scene was the best! The purple one in the Tokay scene drew all attention away from anything else in the scene and drives my eyes buggy with those perfectly matched, zig-zagging stripes. Good for a laugh only. I loved Hawwy and Jane. Even though they were both despicable. I thought the scene where Jeanette breaks down trying to sing that song for Herr Wyler was very touching. And I love the part where Nelson's two friends start pulling out the pawn tickets. The look on his face when they said,"That's for the bed,"was hilarious. And Jeanette,"Oh, Carl, it's just the bed!"Men and their strange values. And of course the scene when he carried her upstairs was darling. I laughed so hard the first time I saw him toss her over his shoulder and cart her the rest of the way up. I too hate that Nelson has to die... they adored each other so much... and it WAS too abrupt. Somehow though I start laughing, because I think of one website where a lady put a picture of Nelson in Jeanette's arms in the death scene, with the caption,"Carl! How many times have I told you to stay away from sharp objects??!?"(Of course, she meant it as a joke.) Honestly though I hate that he dies. It's despicable. George Sanders is despicable. Despicable is my current buzzword. This movie overall is NOT despicable, simply not Jeanette and Nelson's best example of collaboration. If you are new to Nelson and Jeanette, I would recommend"New Moon"or"Maytime"as good films to start with. Save this one for after you become a fan, so you can watch it with a little more sympathy and leniency than otherwise you would. This pair could sing a duet grocery list and I would love it ! I was born in their heyday (30's). Jeanette MacDonald more than any other musican influenced me to pursue a singing career.Sure, the acting might be uneven, costumes not proper (but this is NOT uncommon for Hollywood) Who cares? These two singers are front and center. I guess I'm sentimental but I love all their movies even with other singers like the wonderful Allan Jones. Seeing Jeanette and Mr. Eddy in live concert in Wichita Ks was a highlite after seeing them as a child in so many movies. Don't be too hard on these movies. Listen to the wonderful voices and music. Forget the rest. Think how fortunate we are to have them on film! Rerations < Bitter Sweet [VHS] >

customer 's review (Broke after half a day...)
(Worth EVERY penny!)
(kids love but won't stay on all night) I purchased this because my 2 year old loves to look at the moon. I unpacked it and it worked literally for 5 minutes, it went out and never worked again. Changed the batteries, nothing.
I got a replacement. The second one worked for a full day (Yay!) then stopped working. Again, changed batteries and NOTHING!
So I decided to open up BOTH of them. In the first one, the wires were loose and one light burned out. On the second one, all the wires were attached but it was dead as a doornail.
I thought maybe I just got a dud with the first one. Nope!
Useless, worthless and a complete waste of money. My 22 month old and 6 month old sons share a room...they LOVE this! My older son asks for his moon to be turned on even for nap time. This is a wonderful buy! My son insists on having a light on in his room all night long. we got this as a gift and it is a very good night light but unfortunately you can't set it to stay on all night long. So when he wakes up and it is dark he freaks out and wakes us up! Product works just as advertised, but not quite what we need. Turn your room into an authentically detailed 3-D lunar landscape. After your child is all tucked in for the night, Moon in My Room creates a peaceful, glowing effect for a night full of sweet dreams. Its whimsical effect is fun for adults, too!Features - Automatic or annual function shows 12 main phases of the moon
- 15-minute audio CD provides a guided tour to the moon
- Auto shut-off

customer 's review (Home Sweet Home)
(Surprisingly effective)
(Odor Eater that reduced my Carbon Footprint)
(Worked immediately) After a year of sewer gas odor and little response from the town of Sturbridge we can now sit outside in our gazebo and enjoy the fresh breezes of summer. Since installing the Sewer Oder Sweetfilter there has been no offensive sewer odor and my neighbor has also installed one eliminating their oder problems. It will be interesting to see how long this product stands up to the amount of odor vapor I have seen exiting the vent pipe. We've owned two houses, and in both houses, we've needed to address septic odor problems that occur outside the house. It's no fun to be having dinner on your patio, only to have nasty septic odors wafting around your nose. So, we tried this, and it works like a charm. It's been in place for several years in our one home, and it's still working. Installed it on a friday. Wedding was on Saturday. Wind blew our way, but stink stopped immediately.
Thanks Ten stars!! After some repair to my sewer, the gas smell coming from my roof was overpowering (it used to sneak out somewhere else). I could barely walk out my door. I had the gas company come out, because I couldn't even imagine what could smell that awful, but they said no gas could be found except from my sewer vent. My plumber said he knew someone who had tried this unit, so I tried it. Within minutes of installing it, the smell was gone. I was fairly desperate, and didn't know what to do. This was a simple and inexpensive solution to a very foul problem. Sweetfilter is a newer style sewer vent filter that resists freeze-up and eliminates sewer odor overnight. Sweetfilter is built with the same materials as your vent pipes, with no metal parts to corrode and our frost proof "easy to install" coupling. Zeocarbon hydrophobic media prevents entry of odors, water, aerosolized pathogens, and VOC's into your environment. Sweetfilter is shipped ready to slide over your vent stack.90 day money back warranty, 5 year manufacturers warranty
First, all drain and sewage waste from your house flows into the sewer or septic yard tank. Secondly, as water flows into any drain, foul, corrosive, toxic gas laden, air is displaced and must be vented (H2S - hyrdogen sulfide and methyl mercaptans), or the water will not go down the drain. Many homes (especially mass produced houses) have been designed to minimize plumbing costs. One major efficiency is the use of branch venting for fixtures in close proximity. Although less expensive initially, it makes sewer odors far more common. In many areas it is now law that all drain pipe roof vents are fitted with activated carbon filter vents when a new house is constructed. However, they can be installed into existing systems. Often this is necessary to assure proper "odor free" operation of the vent pipe.
The PEC Sweetfilter requires no special tools for installation and simply slides onto existing drain vent pipes on your roof with universal fitting included with your purchase. Constructed of black coated PVC and auto-regenerative granulated Zeocarbon , the PEC Sweet Filter eliminates septic tank yard odors for up to 5 years without recharging.Sweetfilter works in any position, even upside down. Slide units over existing cold air roof vent stacks, yard vents, or "candy canes". Use screwdriver to rotate clamp screws clockwise evenly until secure against stack.

(Nice Movie)
(Predictable)
(Nice love story /comedy for the boomer generation...)
(REVIEW FOR AGE 45&UP...you'll get it, you may have been there) OK, I'm getting older. I admit it. But come on, Dustin Hoffman in a romantic comedy? Now? With the great English actress, Emma Thompson... She'll tower over him. Who thought this up? It's got to be quirky or artsy-fartsy, and he's simply going to whine on my nerves.
Storyline: a divorced, music ad/'jingle toons' composer heads off to England to attend his estranged daughter's wedding. His job's going down the tubes, he's lonely, depressed, jetlagged, and his ex-wife and her super, perfect husband(of course James Brolin, really towering over Dustin) are there for the bride. He's tired and grumpy and sarcastic and out of place and apparently miscast.
He blows off Emma's character who's taking surveys at the airport but later runs across her at an empty pub. Her desolate life with frequent check on you calls from mom, the ever ubiquitous, ever solid British actress Eileen Atkins(super in "Crawford") plays back and forth in comparison with Harvey's life until they discover each other.
For a day or so, they're not alone anymore but are two very human, real people, not caricatures. In the 'making of' section, both actors relate how they wanted to be more like themselves and more natural. Neither all neurotic or goofy, but intelligent and complex. There's a few silly moments, but by in large, they mute the humor and the sentimentality balancing off each other. And there are no bad people in the story just poor first impressions and life decisions.
All the actors are good. His daughter played by Canadian actress Liana Balaban is perfect showing her longstanding hurt and disappointment with her neglectful Dad but still wanting (or hoping she'll want) him there.
This flick won't appeal much for the youngsters(less than 40?)unless they want to see a mature, romantic comedy without much language, no sex, no special effects, some predictability and with the wonderful English background and the superb craft of these two amazing actors. I bought this because I love Emma Thompson and will watch anything that she does. This was a nice movie...not one of my favorites, but nice. With all the violence and vulgarism in the films that have been released lately..this one is enjoyable and about real people. The actors were wonderful but the story was predictable and boring. I was really looking forward it because of the actors but was disappointed in the end result. Maybe I'm cynical tho because many people I know have said it's a "must see". This is an extremely well acted and fun romantic comedy that we (my gal and I) enjoyed. I'm not sure its something we'd watch again, and the bonus features were slight and a bit going through the motions. If you are a fan of either of the stars then its a hit. If you like romantic comedies and are an adult I highly recommend it. A pair of superb stars, Dustin Hoffman&Emma Thompson, click as the older parent age set of common people who have had enough of life to have suffered some success and some loss. More loss than win when it comes to relationships. They are both lonely.
Those of us who are older, who have been there, who've experienced long-term lonely, will not notice the beginning of the movie as being boring and slow, but instead a reflection of how life can become tedious and difficult to adults without a mate. They fall to trying to find rewards in jobs, senior parents, adult kids, books, etc.&of course fail. It's just not the same. Youth seldom "get it". It takes a couple to decades, midlife crisis age, and commonplace failings to be able to see the story behind the story. Those people will "get it."
The second half of the movie is brilliantly played by Thompson and Hoffman, strangers who meet in London by accident, who suddenly recognize a possibility of love, a second chance, a moment of winning, a time of relationship that might...just might...be extended long-term. This is a full-length movie version of REALITY TV but done so much better.
For those who just might be too young for this type of film...I strongly suggest that first you watch the Special Feature "An Unconventional Love Story: The making of Last Chance Harvey" prior to watching the feature. That will help young adults who have not yet experienced decades of life's failures, to grasp the significance of the subtleties in the acting, the interaction between the stars, and this entertaining but realistic love story.
This is a very good movie, but for the viewers who have "been there--done that" it becomes award winning excellent. Anyone who’s seen the trailer for Last Chance Harvey can easily guess how it ends. In fact, the title alone is a clue. But the destination is hardly the point with movies like this; it’s the journey that counts, and this one is pretty entertaining. You could call director-writer Joel Hopkins’ film a romantic comedy, but it’s not especially robust in either of those departments. This is more of a character study, and veteran lead actors Dustin Hoffman and Emma Thompson are well up to the task of bringing theirs to life. Both are awkward, lonely, social misfits. Hoffman’s Harvey Shine is a bit of a schlub; his gig as a jingle composer in jeopardy, estranged from his ex-wife (Kathy Baker) and daughter (Liane Balaban), he flies to London for the latter’s wedding, only to have her tell him that she has chosen her step-father (James Brolin) rather than him to give her away. Meanwhile, Kate Walker (Thompson) spends her days trying to survey harried travelers at Heathrow Airport, answering her meddling mother’s constant stream of cell phone calls, and awaiting the all-to-inevitable onset of spinsterhood. Harvey has already brushed her off once when, having put in a humiliating appearance at the wedding and missed his return flight to America, he runs into her in an airport bar. What ensues--the initial repartee and sarcastic snarking, the gradual breaking of the ice, the burgeoning attraction, the complications and misunderstandings--is entirely predictable. But it’s also well done. These are people one might actually identify with; when Kate tells him, "I’m more comfortable with being disappointed. I’m angry with you for trying to take that away," one senses a real person in there, which helps raise Last Chance Harvey above its conventions. --Sam Graham Fennessy

(My daughter is afraid of the angry Duck character)
(New Cover; Same Video)
(FABULOUS DVD...)
(Happy!) I got this for my 14 month old son. He didn't seem to be interested in it when we were watching it. Yes....I know he is 14 months old but if he is interested in something I can tell. We have watch educational videos that caught his atention this didn't. I won't say buy it because someone else child may like it but my didn't. I am giving it 3 stars only because I bought the entire series and unfortunately my daughter refuses to watch any of the dvds. She is so scared of the angry duck character that she starts screaming in terror the minute I try to insert the dvd into the dvd player (she is 3 years old).
They could have made him look and sound a bit nicer, because probably many children will have that problem. Too bad because I really find the program very good. I waited 1 month and paid extra $1 for this DVD thinking it was something brand new. This is the same video from 2003. (The same senario with the Talking Words Factory DVD)
The video itself was good. Very educational and quite interesting. Your child will learn each alphabet and its sound along with Leap, the little brother. For each letter, the sound of the letter is demonstrated with something funny&easy to remember. (Example: "A", a monster appears and the A's say "Ah") Of course, there is a catching tune enforces the letter&the sound. There is a little summary after every 4 letters and the video ends with a finale with all the alphabets.
My 22months daughter likes the video and would like to watch it over&over.(Too bad it doesn't come with repeat play) She is trying to imitate the sounds of the letters now. I can see the video is doing some good. I bought this for my 3 yr old son. He is already spelling words thanks to this great video. Leap Frog know how to get kids attention. I really like this video. My son knew the vowels after the second time he watched it. He loves the songs and the game, and is sounding out the words well. Teaches young children about vowels, consonants, word building, rhyming, and vocabulary. Genre:Children's Video Rating:G Release Date:9-DEC-2003 Media Type:DVD Building words is an exciting and empowering experience for young children (and frogs) who have mastered individual letters and their sounds. When young Tad wants to nominate his Dad for a "Best Dad" contest he asks his brother Leap and sister Lily for some help filling out the application. The three young frogs go see Professor Quigley at their Father's Talking Word Factory for a little instruction and get to watch the "Sticky-ick-o-rama" and the "Word Whammer" machines at work. Tad quickly discovers that vowels act as the glue that sticks letters together and then learns to combine individual letter sounds to make three-letter words, use common ending sounds to create rhyming words, and blend letter sounds to make even longer rhyming words. Phonemic awareness, vocabulary building, and rhyming are entertaining and fun thanks to familiar Leap Pad characters, colorful animation, and short songs. An interactive word game challenges young viewers to fill in the missing first letter in a variety of three-letter words. (A bit of Sunshine in a Box)
(Auntie Mame) This role was made for Rosalind Russell! While always a fan of Lucille Bsll's wrk, this non-musical Rosalilnd Russell version is unbeatable. She inspires in every way, including individuality, laughter, and openeess to the world around us. This version also included an amazing supporting cast, including: the incomparable Peggy Cass (as Agnes Gooch; a young Larry Hagmen, Billie Burke, Forrest Tucker and everyone else around Mame/ Even as a child ( who had my own personal Auntie Mame in my life), I was inspired to "Live!live! Live!" Thank yu me for showing me, even as a child), that "life is a banquet and most poor suckers are starving to death". It inspired me and still does...in sptie of what anyone thinks. Thanks Patrick and Mame Dennis! If you've nto seen this you are missing out! Very happy with it good move Rusand Russel is the best This is a wonderful film and has long been one of my favorites. Rosalind Russell gives a classic performance as Mame Dennis in the film version of the play that later was used to create the musical "Mame". The film runs the gamut from wacky comedy to some wonderful pathos as Mame takes over the raising of Patrick, her orphaned nephew. I've always gotten a special kick out of the scenes between the young boy and Mame, they are so well played and have a special magic all their own. More than a few tugs at your heartstrings too. The film is wonderfully scored by Bronislaw Kaper and this edition of the DVD includes a special feature where you can watch the film only with the music, no dialogue. That is just great as far as I am concerned as I think this is a truly fabulous score (overlooked for an Oscar) and it's a treat to hear it by itself. The film was nominated for Best Picture (lost to "Gigi"), Rosalind Russell was nominated for Best Actress (lost to Susan Hayward but Ros did win her third Golden Globe for the role), and the major technical awards in 1958 were swept by "Gigi". The direction is a bit stagebound by todays standards but don't let that stop you from enjoying this marvelously witty comedy with a top notch cast. I had an Auntie Mame in my life and before she died recently I gave her a copy of this movie and we watched it together and laughed and reminisced together and just enjoyed the movie and each other's company. Then she was gone. I'll always treasure that day and the memories I made with my Auntie Mame. Don't pass up an opportunity to enjoy true entertainment - and have a few tissues handy too! This entertainment was indeed magic, great humour and acting, with excellent creativity, colourful and bobmbastic ("Life is a banquet") and the whole story had GREAT HEART! Would have prefered full screen. Remember darlings, "Life's a banquet, and most suckers are starving to death." That tag line sums up this exuberant and immensely amusing 1958 comedy that can be seen repeatedly, as it never grows stale. Rosalind Russell plays the flamboyant aunt who takes in poor, orphaned Patrick, played with sophisticated ease by Jan Handzlik. Mame, all glitter and martinis, raises her nephew in a world filled with acceptance and her oddball literati friends. Nothing is too bohemian. This unfolds in colorful episodic segments that allow us to watch Patrick grow as Mame oversees his unusual upbringing while she juggles a few spouses and an extended household. Russell, who created the title role for the stage, simply shines. She is bright and brassy, but never goes too far over the top. Peggy Cass is a comedic delight as her befuddled secretary, and Coral Browne brings class to the production as her best friend. This was based on the exuberant stage play, which in turn was based on Patrick Dennis's humorous, bittersweet novel. The screen version was written by the clever duo of Betty Comden and Adolph Green. Not to be confused with the pathetically lackluster musical version starring Lucille Ball (1974), simply entitledMame.--Rochelle O'Gorman AN ORPHAN GOES TO LIVE WITH HIS FREE-SPIRITED AUNT. (Great !!)
(MAGNIFICANT!!! A MUST-HAVE!!!)
(Listen up everybody! Do you have Excema?)
(High quality product in plastic container...illogical!) This is fine for the money but I like raw Manuka Honey better under different label. This brand is "runny" and not as "silky smooth" as I am used to. Would I buy it again, certainly if the other brand was not available. Love this Honey for it's healing properties. I have used it on small cuts and it does heal the skin more quickly. Also, used it on my chapped and dry lips. I apply it at bedtime and it goes to work right away; not to mention, it tastes good too. I will continue to buy this product and try other items in the product line. My dad had a very large pressure sore (bed sore) on his buttocks after spending over 2 months in the hospital. His home-nurse suggested using honey. After researching, I came across Manuka Honey and decided the $28 price tag would be worth it IF it helped.
My dad's sore was HUGE and DEEP. Unfortunately, I never photographed it or measured it but it was BIG and infected and very serious.
It has been 3 weeks (THREE WEEKS) that my dad has been applying the Manuka Honey on his sore. Every time the sore gets dirty from a bowel movement, the Aide reapplys the honey and dressing. I'm guessing his dressing gets changed 2 to 3 times per day.
I see my Dad weekly and at the 3rd week, I was SHOCKED to see the dramatic improvement. The sore is only about an inch in length and not very deep at all when it was about 6 inches long and very deep (I'm guessing at the size since I never measured it.But it was Huge!!).
I am a believer. They say, seeing is believing. Well, I have seen, I continue to see, and I truly believe in Manuka Honey. I can't say enough about this product.
It is a shame that doctors and pharmacies make consumers pay for medicines when there are alternatives.
I hope this review helps some of you who are doubtful. It has and continues to help but dad. Try it!!!! It's a miracle indeed!! I buy on Amazon a lot and for some reason, I kept seeing this honey. I read the reviews and decided to buy some for my sister who has some kind of skin condition on her hand. Her skin was rough, red, scaly, itchy and she has had it for about a year. Sound like ECZEMA???? She has tried prescriptions and over the counter stuff with little success. I bought this and brought it to her and I said "You are going to think I am crazy, but this honey is going to heal your hand." She told me that within 18 hours, the swelling had gone down significantly. Within 5 days, it was much, much better. And, in about 2 weeks, it was practically healed, except for her skin looking a little different color due to the trauma to it over the year. This stuff is amazing!! She just put honey on it and covered it with a big bandage.
Oh, and btw, who cares if it is a plastic container. You can't have it all. This quality product should be in a glass jar. Plastic is cheap and this product deserves better. The worst thing is, plastic containers can leach toxic chemicals into the food they hold. It appears that they are unwittingly sabotaging their own product. Due to label info, the jar's shape and the "wrongness" of a plastic container, I had assumed the jar was glass. I won't buy it again.

(Great price on a great product)
(Splenda is the healthiest sugar substitue there is.) Be sure to call splenda if you think there are no calories in this product. I was surprised to find that if you use more than 3 packets, there ARE indeed calories in this product. Please call spenda.
Spenda does taste similar to sugar, but the price is going up and up and up and up and up. One must wonder why the price is going up on a weekly basis?
And yes, I like splenda, but NOT NOT NOT from this vender. They ship via slow boat to china if you have a subscription and the price is not stable, it goes up at their will. Horrible shipping and amazon doesn't really care. So if you use prime, don't subscribe if you don't want to wait weeks for your product. ONLY PURCHASED BECAUSE PRICE WAS KILLER, ON A SPECIAL, CAN GET 2000 PACKETS AT SAMS FOR 20.00 If your need for Splenda sweetener does not go into the 2,000 or 4,000 packet srea, and/or you use a lot, but prefer to have your Splenda fresher, and not store it for a longer time, this 700-pack container fits the bill very nicely! The corrigated cardboard carton is just as sturdy as the larger packet sizes come in -- far stronger than the flimsy, just-above-paper type cardboard the 400 pack, (and lower amounts), come in, at the supermarket. Plus --it's quite a good buy, especially if you subscribe. Subscriptions get you a few cents off the price at the Splenda website itself, and even getting it at Amazon, one carton at a time can save you money -- sometimes, a great deal of money. (Can you believe it -- at one site, (which shall remain nameless), 700 Splenda sells for.....$59.00 ? (!!!!!) Believe it -- it's sadly true -- I bought it there, once, about 2 years ago, (before I got wise to shopping for Splenda here at Amazon). I checked that website yesterday -- they are STILL selling Splenda 700 packets for $59.00 !!!!! ) :
Even my local supermarket sells Splenda 400 for......$15.99! (Even that is almost twice as much!)
So, be wise -- economize! If the 700 Splenda packet size is what you want, get it here on subscription, at Amazon.com. It's a very sweet deal! (And no -- I am NOT being paid by Amazon to write this! Just trying to pass on an "economizer tip", in these hard times. My "good deed for the day", as it were. (And though I'm not at all religious, I do like the idea of trying to do a Jewish "mitzvah", every day when I can!) : )
You can't beat Amazon's price on Splenda. And using subscribe and save makes buying it a breeze. Splenda No Calorie Sweetener, Granular, Individual Packets, 700-Count Box Splenda is the best sugar substitue there is. Is doesn't have any after taste and I even bake with it. I love it--- and we use it for just about everythig. Cool and fill them with your favorite sugar free pudding. splenda sprnkled over strawberries. I even use it in my spagetti. Thank you Bubbie Splenda No Calorie Sweetener Packets are individual portions found in the familiar yellow packets. They are a great way to sweeten beverages and sprinkle on cereal, fresh fruit, and more. Each packet of Splenda No Calorie Sweetener provides the sweetness of two teaspoons of sugar; 24 packets of Splenda No Calorie Sweetener provide the sweetness of one cup of sugar. Each packet of Splenda No Calorie Sweetener has no calories and no carbohydrates per serving. (For cooking and baking, you may find Splenda No Calorie Sweetener, Granular a more convenient option. (Madhava Organic nectar) Agave Nectar is much more versital than honey when used as a sweetner. Gave a bottle to a neighber and she used it in her cole slaw at a recent picnic. Needless to say, her slaw was a great success. Highly recommend this product. This stuff has a grate taste. Great in tea or on pancakes. Also helps keep me from over doing it and messing up my blood sugar. A great product at a great price. I prefer this product to the honey that I used to use because it is less sweet and it does not crystallize. I love this product--it is so much better than sugar, and tastes the same. No chemical substitutes for me. Product is excellent and customer service is very good. customer 's review (Nice!)
(Surprise, surprise, surprise)
(Fantastic for computing on the go)
(Lean, mean and green!)
(Good but hard to type) Upgraded from the 701- size difference is just enough to be more comfortable for viewing and typing but still ultra-compact. This windows xp version is compatible with more software than the linux one... This 901 has given lots of surprises. First surprise, it has the built-in bluetooth. In the spec, there is no one word mentions it. Second surprise, it supports dual monitor. Third surprise, it includes good software such as Microsoft Works and StarOffice. The only downside the 8GB SSD is slow. The computer may pause once in a while if the 8GB SSD is running. To get the reasonable performance, you may need to invest another $90 to $200 to upgarde the SSD HD. To me, I bought this one for email and internet browsing. I do not want to put much money to it. I just replaced the 8GB SSD with a Super Talent 32GB SATA SSD that only costs $87.
After upgarding the RAM and SSD, I paid about $400 for this 901. Some may say it costs as much as the 1000HE with a 160GB HD and 10" LCD. Yes, it is true, but I still like the size of the 901. It was a Wired article about netbooks that sold me on the idea by comparing full-sized, full-power laptops (like the one I'm typing this on now) with SUVs, and netbooks with more efficient just-what-you-really-need compact cars. And the truth is, the vast majority of the time all I need is this netbook. People have an SUV for the one day a year they need all that cargo space or room for five people, but there's the other 364 where they're spending a fortune to move one person and a briefcase. But if you can't afford to have two cars, you can probably afford to add a netbook to your computer collection, so while you travel you have something light, easy, with a long battery life, sturdy so you won't worry so much about jostling it, and fully functional.
Much is made of the size of the keyboard and I know a lot of people try it and find it unsuitable for typing, and add on a roll-out keyboard. But I think a lot of those people just didn't try it long enough. After a few hours I really can type at almost my full speed (and that's about 60-80wpm) on it, and I can move between it and my full-sized keyboards without problems. If anything, I have a harder time with the touchpad, even though I have long experience with touchpads. A Bluetooth mouse works a treat to address that without impacting portability.
While the lightness and compactness are much ballyhooed, and the longer battery life is oft-cited, what's really impressive to me about this has been the sense that it's solid and sturdy. I've owned a dozen laptops in my time and most of them eventually succumbed to some problem with the screen, often in the hinge, leaving me feeling like I had to treat it extra gingerly. Maybe it's the smaller size and weight, maybe it's the better construction, but the Eee feels like I just don't need to think about that.
In fact, I took my Eee with me on a short vacation recently, and in addition to using it extensively in the hotel, restaurants, etc., I used a copy of Microsoft Streets&Trips on it with a USB GPS. It was so much nicer than either a full laptop (so heavy, running hot on my lap, feeling fragile, and struggling with power adapters) or a dedicated GPS (so limited, no mouse or keyboard, awkward software and interface, small screen). I think the Eee is an ideal GPS unit, and not least because when you get there it also can do everything else.
About the color, it must be said that it's pretty icky. It's not just a green usually associated with baby food, or what comes up after babies eat baby food, it also has a pattern of pixellated leaves on it that just looks like a bad smudge. The inside is white and has the same pattern in the same green. That said, it's better than plain old white or black. But I wish they'd do a nice blue, or the red model wasn't always out of stock and priced too high, or even a nicer green. They've realized we want some colors, I don't know why they don't make more of them.
One final word: if you're going to use an SDcard or thumbdrive to move your important data between your Eee and another computer, by leaving the data on that medium all the time, invest in a higher-performance card like the SANdisk Extreme III. I didn't think it mattered, one SDcard is the same as another, right? But it really does matter a lot. And they're really not that much more expensive. I bought this little netbook to replace my larger, heavier one basically for emailing, browsing, writing, etc. I love the color and the size. Has lots of great features. It fits in my current purse. The small keyboard definitely takes some getting used to and the touch pad is extremely sensitive! I am going to buy a small mouse to use with it. I have mistakenly sent several emails without meaning to by lightly going over the surface. You will need a lot more memory. I bought the recommended 2G memory. I didn't attempt to install it; asked the engineer at my work to install it for me along with Microsoft Word which I needed since I am writing a book. He confirmed it is a good netbook. All in all, I love my Eee PC! OH, BTW, it comes with a nice black soft case so don't order the green one they recommend unless you just want it! I didn't realize it came with one and ordered the green one so now I have a spare! This is a good net book. Really nice, cute, and worth the money I paid. It's just a little too small to type on sometimes, but once you're used to it. It's fine.
The processor will sacrifice speed for battery life sometimes, so the machine may exhibit temporary freezes sometimes. customer 's review (My little ballerina loves this toy)
(Not really worth the price...)
(My daughter loves it.)
(Bella Dancerella Disney Princess Dance Studio)
(A Big Hit With My 4-Year-Old Princess) My 4 year old daughter received this set for Christmas. She was already taking pre-ballet lessons, so this was meant just to give her some extra fun at home between classes. She loves the toy. I don't think it really teaches her to dance, although I am not concerned about that since she is taking dance lessons already. What it DOES do, though, is give her some fine examples to watch and try to imitate. It also gets her out of just watching TV and actually doing some exercise. The mat is...well...kind of useless, but she likes it. It does have the positions on it and she likes putting her feet on the foot prints. And the rather large and somewhat clunky wand she uses for all kinds of pretend play. Still, she will dance with it trying to imitate the girls on the video. I did not pay this very high price for the set, though. It is frequently on sale. I found this for my 5 year old daughter on clearance at Walmart a few months ago and put it away for Christmas. She's played with it for a few hours and the dvd prompted me to come here and see what others thought. The dancers move too quickly for her to keep up and the wand only lights up and makes noise while you are pushing the button. There are hardly any appearances by the actual princesses, and only then they are clips from movies she's already seen 100 times. I purchased this for $12 and think it is about worth it, but I surely wouldn't pay the current price of $50. I wasn't going to review this toy, but after reading the other reviews, I felt really bad and wanted to give a good opinion on this toy. My daughter is almost 4 and is loving the dance mat, wand, and DVD. The first time she watched the movie, she couldn't do the dances at all but was perfectly happy jumping around and making up her own moves. She plays with the wand constantly and pretends she is a princess with it. Even my 6 year old son steals the wand from her and plays with it. After a few times watching the DVD, my daughter is really starting to get the moves. I am so impressed. I didn't think she would catch on so quickly! My 1 year old daughter also loves watching the DVD. She bounces around and claps her hands to the music. Our whole family is loving having this toy!
Just so you know, we didn't buy this item on Amazon. I actually got it at Wal Mart on clearance for [...]! I couldn't believe it! What a steal of a deal. I don't know if it was an accident that they were selling it for so cheap, but I can't believe how expensive it is every where else! The main girl on the DVD is so cheesey and a little annoying for me to watch, but like I said, my daughters (and even my son though he would never never admit it) love watching it. I am so glad we got this! I think the other reviewer are being a little too hard on it! But maybe I would too if I payed [...] for it! :) We just bought this for my niece and she loved it. She had a ton of fun looking and playing with the wand. I was impressed with the quality of the wand, it lit up for each princess and had different sounds. My daughter received this as a gift for her 4th birthday so unlike the reviewer whose daughter went to the store and bought this with her own money, we had no expectations. My daughter is a princess through-and-through... loves dress up, loves fancy things, loves her princesses and castles... and she LOVED this gift. I wouldn't say she takes it out every day but when she does, she goes through the whole video and it is very adorable to watch her trying to imitate the dance moves. I don't expect her to learn to dance from this DVD but am happy to see her up and moving, even though she is still "watching TV". It's not too expensive and I would definitely recommend this gift. I am buying this for my 3 1/2-year-old niece who is also another "princess". My other daughter (I have twins) is not into the princess dress-up as much as her sister and still likes this DVD. Hope this helps - I would definitely recommend this! Loaded with delightful melodies and amusing animation, the Disney Princess Dance-Along Studio takes you on a magical princess journey. Girls can discover new dances, sing songs with Belle and friends, and learn how to act like a real princess. Studio features six songs, including favorites like "Under The Sea" and "Beauty and the Beast." Includes a 30-minute DVD, Magical Glitter Princess Dance Mat and musical light-up wand with three enchanting Princess sounds and colors. Outfit not included. Requires 2 "AA" batteries, not included. customer 's review (The right one)
(Great Buy!)
(WOW!! Lightweight! great screen size and keypad...)
(A Superb Daily Driver)
(Great mini laptop/netbook for the money!) I love this product. I'm using it right now to write this review. It has some great features like multi-touch touchpad, built-in bluetooh connectivity, 6 cell battery, perfect screen size and it is light enough to take everywhere. My unit came with a small problem in the left button of the touchpad: the buttons are made of aluminum and it seems that the button is a little "curved" which makes it "clickable" only in part of it. It's no big deal, since I don't use it. I just use the touchpad itself to perform actions - right click, left click, scrolling, zooming, navigate back and forward in webpages and other actions. When I'd placed my order there was no picture of the product (now there is one) and when it arrived I got surprised by the "Sweet Pea Green" color. It's brighter than I expected which makes it look a bit like a toy. Now I'm used to it. I even like the color, but my next one will be black or blue. If you are not sure about the color I can tell you that it is very similar to the picture. I had looked around and done a lot of research before settling on this netbook, and I've been nothing but pleased after a month with the unit. I regularly get 5.5 hours of battery life, the keyboard took almost no time to get used to, and it runs plenty fast for all of my needs.
Excellent product! Okay, so first let me state that the only difference between this netbook and the 1000HA is bluetooth(not all that important)and the wireless-n connectivity. FYI wireless-n is supposed to be new wireless technology with greater range and faster connection speeds. I haven't hooked up to an -n router yet so i cant really comment on its effectiveness. The 1000HA is about $100 cheaper so you can make the decision for yourself. I'm sure there is a usb converter out there somewhere. So now lets talk about performance. I basically purchased this netbook because i will be backpacking in Thailand for about 20 days and also sometimes i get bored at work. The weight and size of the keyboard and screen are perfect. Downloaded and played back movies with ease. Also this is one of the few netbooks that is upgradeable. I easily just popped out 2 screws, and there's the harddrive and RAM slot. Pulled out the 1G and installed 2G RAM. I can say that this lil thing is fast; I can have a movie downloading, have one playin, surf the net, all without problem. Tiny fan doesn't make a sound. It can run a lil warm, but i wouldn't say hot. The black carrying case it comes with is very handy as you can also use it between your lap and the machine. The 7hrs. of battery life is really more like 5 1/2 hrs. Mousepad is fully customizable so you never really need to use the "stiff" buttons that everyone keeps whining about. 2 finger scrolling, 3 finger right-click, adjustable drag&drop settings, etc. The thing i like most about this machine is that it feels sturdy and well-made, not cheap and flimsy. Amazon user comments were very helpful and i got my machine much faster than expected via FedEX. I can't recommend this machine highly enough. Thanks Amazon!! EDIT 1/19/2008: The first unit I bought had a faulty hard drive and kept bluescreening and rebooting itself. Fortunately the retailer I purchased it from has a "no hassles" return policy so I was able to swap it.
---------------------- In this review I'll provide a summary and then I'll list the pros and cons of the eee PC 1000HD.
First of all I'd like to say that this is a delightful little daily use laptop. I got it earlier today. For the price, it's fast and stable. Its build quality is surprisingly good and the casing is stylish and aesthetically appealing. The battery life exceeds expectations for a sub-$500 laptop.
Just to get this out of the way up front, the keyboard is rubbish. It's utter trash. Although the letter keys are larger than those of earlier models, the layout, the missed keystrokes and the awful key bounce makes typing on this netbook a chore.
Pros:
* The screen is very bright and high contrast with not a trace of flicker. * The stereo speakers are decent, sufficient for casual listening. * The large, wide multitouch trackpad allows access to all areas of the screen without having to lift and reposition your fingers. * The battery life is superb at this price point (between 3 hours 45 minutes and 5 hours - be careful though and read the box carefully, some versions of this model have a 3 cell battery, some have 4 and some have 5 - don't depend on product literature because some stores will advertise a 6 cell battery but it actually says 4 on the box). * No built in crappy webcam (a webcam is an accessory, don't buy a laptop because it has one; it's probably going to be crap and it'll just take up extra system resources). * The product is small and light but has a decently sized screen. * Boot time is surprisingly short (which is good since you'll be rebooting Windows at least twice a month after Windows Update, whether you like it or not). * The product is very easy to setup, just snap in the battery, plug in the power chord and press the power button. * Build quality is superb. All components fit together well with no visible gaps or deformities. * There's plenty of storage onboard for all your files and documents so no need to carry an extra hard drive or thumb drive with you. * Applications load and react to input quickly. * This model is MUCH faster and more stable than the SURF models. Its speed and stability is surprising. * The video quality is SUPERB. It's the only laptop-type device I've ever used that can play full motion video over Remote Desktop. I use it to watch the TV card on my computer upstairs while I'm downstairs in the front room so I can watch two shows at once. :) * Sound quality is superb. The manual is correct in that plugging in a set of headphones or external speakers improves quality greatly. The internal speakers are okay but plugging in a nice set of headphones adds a lot to the experience. The onboard amp can drive my ULTRASONE PROline 550 S-Logic Surround Sound Professional Headphones nicely without the need for a headphone amp. * The microphone is excellent. I enjoy using Skype to make phone calls on this netbook. The acoustic echo canceling allows you to use the built-in stereo beam mic for audio and video conferencing and the snappy video performance ties the experience together nicely. I use Skype's auto redial feature so that I don't have to manually redial the phone over and over for hours to get through to the Oregon Department of Unemployment Assistance. * The beefy 120GB hard drive gives you room to grow. The hard drive comes partitioned into two drive letters, ostensibly so that you'll never run out of room for system updates on the system partition, however being a mature adult I used Norton PartitionMagic to merge the two partitions into one drive letter.
Cons:
* This is more about eee PC's in general: The model numbers are very confusing. Do I want the 1000A? Or perhaps the 1000H? Maybe the 1000HD? There doesn't seem to be any comprehensive list that compares the features and helps you to select the model you want/need, and most stores only carry two or three models out of the line. * The non-standard keyboard layout has me hunting and pecking a lot even though I usually type upward of 50 WPM. * There's noticeable key bounce so I have to use backspace a lot due to repeated characters. I counted that while writing this review I had to backspace repeated characters 27 times. * The right side shift key is the same size as the arrow keys and it's situated to the northeast of the arrow keys, so often I find myself hitting the up arrow key when I wanted to hit the shift key. * There's a dedicated "Prt Sc / SysRq" key but you have to use the Fn key to get Home and End key functionality. WTF? Seriously who uses "Prt Sc / SysRq" more than Home and End? * There are only four dedicated hardware buttons even though the strip they're on could easily accommodate eight more. The rest of the functions without dedicated keys (brightness, volume, etc) require you to use Fn + a number key. * If you're a palm leaner you'll find the "Intel Inside" and "Designed for Microsoft Windows XP" badges haphazardly slapped onto the lower-left of the deck scrape against your palm frequently. Pull them off and throw them away or stick them on the bottom of the base. * The status LEDs on the right side of the deck are excessively bright to the point that it's like having four little flashlights shined into your eyes. Put some electrical tape or other dark adhesive material over them. I used some leftover material from the decal I stuck on the lid to cover up the LEDs and to cover the eee pc logo on the lid. * The AC power adapter connector is flush with the bottom of the deck so placing the product on any soft surface such as a couch or your lap places undue stress on the connector, which I am sure will result in a loose/broken connector sometime in the future. I probably shouldn't complain about this since the manual says not to put the device on any soft surface, anyway. * The product runs too hot to be left comfortably against skin, so don't plan on having this device on your lap while you're watching TV unless you're used to playing the "balance the hot Intel processor based laptop" game. * The print on the keys is somewhat dim. Brighter lettering would help offset the garbage keyboard layout. * The left and right mouse buttons require too much pressure to actuate. * The display is much wider than it is tall, so while you can fit a whole web page on the screen horizontally, there's not much content room left vertically after the browser's toolbars and status bar, so it's a bit like browsing the web by looking at it through a slot. Some application windows don't fit on the screen and the "quick switch" button for resolution doesn't offer a high enough resolution to see the whole window, so you'll find yourself opening up the screen settings control panel and manually setting the resolution, awkwardly scrolling around the "virtual desktop" to access the window controls, then setting the resolution back to fit the screen. * The wireless adapter defaults to disabled in the BIOS settings after the BIOS is upgraded, so most users will assume after upgrading the BIOS that the wireless adapter just doesn't work anymore. To turn it back on you have to hit F1 at power on and enable it in the BIOS menu. * Lots of extra Microsoft garbage installed (Windows Live Messenger, MSN Toolbar, etc etc) takes a long time to uninstall. I can't imagine myself ever needing Microsoft SQL Server. * The netbook gets so hot it can burn your skin. The manual warns you not to let it come in contact with skin because it can burn you. Wow, that seems a bit like having a television that you can't look at because it will burn your retinas. I wish I were exaggerating but I've had to stop using the keyboard and let it cool down because it was hurting my fingers. Switching to "battery save" mode seems to help some and doesn't affect performance noticeably. I compared several netbooks before choosing this one. The Asus 1000HD which has the intel celeron, runs much hotter than this 1000H with the atom processor, based on my use of both for a week. This one has the webcam and bluetooth as well, where the 1000HD does not. I would suggest getting a wireless mouse b/c the mousepad is rather stiff. If you are just websurfing and using iTunes, you do not need more RAM. The keyboard size is fine for me, but might be a little too small for someone with big hands. Once you get used to the blue coded function keys, (home, pg up/down etc.) it's a breeze. The location of the right shift key is odd. For some reason Amazon had this listed at 6 pounds, but it's only 3.2. Mine came with a black carrying case, which I was not expecting. Amazon is the only site I found with the 1000H in colors. Bestbuy only had black. I like the white and the green for not showing fingerprints and dust. The 10" screen is plenty for most webpages. I love this for the size and weight, and highly recommend it. This Eee PC 1000H offers even more options to users for unique user experiences. Featuring up to 7 hours of battery life, high speed 802.11n connectivity and exclusive Eee Storage makes it the ideal traveling companion for outdoor activities. The large 10" display provides comfortable viewing, and a large keyboard makes for easier typing and relaxing usage. It is also available in 6 custom colored designs to fit your unique personality. customer 's review (Loooove it! Beautiful!)
(Beautiful Chart!)
(Growth Chart...A Big Hit!)
(Looks great) I Loooove this chart. I didn't expect it to be this nice. Seems durable... and I may even use it for my next child. Definitely worth the money. Buy it! Like some other reviewers, I was surprised by how nice this growth chart is. I thought it would just be laminated paper with a ribbon attached. Oh no. It's on sturdy board of some kind with fabric connecting each piece and has a ribbon for hanging. The illustrations are beautiful and there are so many details to explore. I'm going to get one for our baby who is coming soon. i love this chart! excellent value for the price.
the theme is great for my son, and it's really colorful with nice detail. the ribbon is already attached for easy hanging. and i also like that i can store it in the keepsake box after he's outgrown it.
i highly recommend this, or any of the growth charts from this line. i also have the flower-themed one for my daughter and love it just as much! This is a very nice growth chart, which will make a beautiful keepsake for my daughter as she grows up, the illustrations are cute and it folds into a notebook size for storage. (Amazing bra, but don't -74$ for it!)
(Not Bad but Not a Dream Either)
(Money Well Spent) The same great bra as the best-selling Tisha Dream bra, but with elegant scalloped lace at cups and straps. Mesh at sides. Back hook closure. Style #965. The service was excellent and so was the product. It was delivered very promptly and wrapped very well. I LOVE this bra! Size and color of this design are difficult to find here so it was with great delight that I was able to find it. Service provided was topnotch and professional. I'm not ganna bore you with a lenghty review on how great this bra is as all I wanted to say is that there is no need to pay 74 dollars on it here in amazon or in a department store like dillards or Macy's. Search for it on EBAY and I guarantee you that you'll find this same exact bra, same brand, model and everything, BRAND NEW with tags, on ebay for 30 dollars or less. Just search for "Le Mystere" and then customize your search further to suit your needs. I have purchased about 3 of its sister bras and 2 of this exact bra now, for all less than 30 dollars each, the most amount being 29.99 and the least amount being 22.00! Including shipping! If you like this bra, you'll LOVE its sister bra the 9955 model (it's basically the same, just without the lace, I like it better) If you, like me, cannot afford to pay 74 dollars each for 5 of the best bras on earth, there is no need to, even if you can afford to, why waste the money? with ebay you can get it for much less than half the price on the tag. A lot of sellers will even take Money Orders, just ask them.
All I will do is suggest that you take that trip to Macy's or Dillars just in case...and to save yourself some trouble...and try on the bra yourself so you know what size to get online.
I have a review on here that's almost the same as this one, just more lengthy.
http://www.amazon.com/Mystere-Womens-Dream-Tisha-9955/dp/B000RN2CCE/ref=pd_sbs_a_1
I'm telling you, I've tried many many different kinds of bras and they were all either uncomfortable, not lifting enough, and/or cheap quality and didn't last long. This bra is the one! It's perfect, lifts like you wouldn't believe, don't show under T-shirts, and best of all long lasting, and now you know where you can get them for way less than half the price that you'd buy them on here. All you have to do is take the trip to a department store that sells them to make sure you know the size that fits you best.
This bra is okay but I dont know if okay is good enough for the money spent... Sorta comfortable but it depends on your position. It took a bit of adjusting to make it feel good to start with. Im not ecstatic but I'll keep it for when I am dressing up. I also ordered the one without lace so we'll see how that one feels when it gets here. I am a late 20's 34DD (or E) with a small child and comfort is soooo important to me. This is definitely not an everyday bra for me. This is by far the best bra I have EVER owned. I know it's pricey but believe me you get what you pay for. I am a 36 DDD, and have never found a bra that was comfortable. I always thought I needed a bra with thick straps to comfortable but when it fits properly around your torso, it doesn't put the same pressure on your shoulders. Buy one now. You will not regret it. Constructed of lightweight microfiber, this Le Mystere bra features seamless cups topped with stretch scalloped lace. It has a three-row, two-column back closure. SHATILA FOOD PRODUCTS
customer 's review (DO NOT ORDER!)
(Trying to save it but ...)
(great treat!)
(Baklava as good as home made)
(A Heaven on Earth MUST HAVE!!!) I'll be honest the product itself is good, but Shatila is the worst service you can find online. They will never return your emails and their staff are computer illerterate. If you call they are not very helpful. The person I talked to could not find my orders or emails I sent them (I sent 3). I was told they will ship whenever she finds the order (that was about 5 days after I spoke to them and 12 days after I ordered).
They will arrive in the required time line, but you will get them at the last possible day they are required for you to receive it. They ship over a week late with 2 day air. I wonder if I would have ever received it if I didn't call and complain. A small guilty please I got on sale. I received it about a week and a half ago. I was surprised at the size of the box and tray the thirty pieces were packaged in. Very, very generous sized pieces.
So, I'm trying to save it by eating a piece or two at a time. Savor the flavor, since it has been quite some time since I've had any baklava. And, oh my, is this ever good baklava!
My suggestion is to put the box in the refrigerator. Take it out at least 20 - 30 minutes before you indulge. That way it brings these wonderful pieces to room temperature and the flavor comes back to full richness.
So, as I said, I'm trying to save it but ... the last fifteen pieces keep calling out to me.
DO try this baklava. It is really quite special. I sent the Baklava to my mother who is 90. She and all of her friends just couldn't believe how good it was. I will order it again. The city I live in has a vibrant Greek community. This baklava is as good as much of what I have tasted locally. It is better than any other "store baught" I've ever had! Over the top scrumptious mouth watering delicacy fit for the King of Kings!!! Order processed, baked, and shipped in 2 days, but shipping took 7 through FedEx, hmmm. Presentation was in very good taste also. Talent, Talent, Talent!! Will order more to share with others if I don't indulge myself first. Go Shatila, Go!!! customer 's review (Can We Please Have Less than One Star????)
(Delicious flavor-great gift idea)
(Delicious Creative Flavors)
(Peach Flavored Lollies From Linda's Lollies)
(Delicious lollipops) I was really excited to try these lollies. Don't be. Most of the flavors taste nothing like their names. They are overpriced and extremely poorly packaged. If you think you are going to get some nice thing like the picture shows, GUESS AGAIN! They arrive dumped in a plastic bag, which has been dumped in a box and dropped from a great height. For the kind of shipping they want it would be reasonable to expect a better presentation. These do last for a long time, which isn't really a plus since the flavors are nasty. If only they could get together with the people that make Jelly Belly and get some flavoring from them..... We buy these at a local farmer's market and they are a real treat. The flavors are unique. If you like jelly bellys, you'll love Linda's Lollies. We pick up extra to give as gifts to children. They love the big ball on top and can tell that they are more than an average lolly. As a fan of the "After Dinner Linda's Lollies" I thought I'd start a new adventure and try 48 exciting flavors. These are perfect for every occasion and especially if you crave a wide range of flavors, but don't have time to always make Coconut Crème Pie or run to the store for Root Beer.
Some of the flavors in this delicious 48-count box (mine arrived in a plastic bag) include: Watermelon, Buttered Popcorn, Green Apple, Caramel, Spearmint, Fruit Punch, Cotton Candy, English Toffee, Apple Cinnamon, Root Beer, Red Hot Cinnamon, Pink Lemonade, Pineapple, Peppermint (perfect), Blueberry, Wild Cherry, Milk Chocolate, Strawberry, Raspberry, Pink Grapefruit, Vanilla (so creamy), Limeade, Root Beer Float, Lemon Meringue Pie, Orangeade, Tutti-Fruity (cute and fun), Peanut Butter, Banana, Lemon Lime, Cherry Cheesecake, Butterscotch, German Chocolate Cake, Licorice, Chocolate Covered Banana, Concord Grape, Chocolate Marshmallow Sundae, Bubble Gum, Cinnamon (deliciously spicy), Pina Colada and Peach.
Sound delicious? They are all dreamy sweet and smooth and taste delicious. One of the lollipops actually has coconut in it, so that is the only one I've noticed so far that had an interesting texture. I'd love to be able to buy a bag of any specific flavor - because you may notice you have favorites!
A lollipop for every mood and occasion! Also try the Dessert and After Dinner varieties to get the full range of flavors.
~The Rebecca Review, enjoying Banana Crème Pie
THE lollie pop had an unplesent taste it was like tasting a surgary bitter peach. It hit me by surprize because i usually like the lollie pops from LInda's lollies like the pinapple and coconut, perfectly sweet!!! Also as advice to Linda make your peach Lollies sweeter, and less bitter!!!!!! THanks for all your hard work at Linda's LOllies!!!! These lollipops are great. There are so many different kinds and most taste great. The only problem I had with them is one or two came broken in the box and the lollipops only came in a clear plastic bag. So, if you are giving these as a gift you'll either have to leave them in the original, brown box, or buy something separately to put them in. Overall I really like the taste, they are the best lollipops I've ever had! Linda, the Lolliologist, originated the concept of gourmet lollipops 18 years ago and to this day, Linda's Lollies remains the #1 choice of lollipop connoisseurs-kids and adults, alike. Linda's Lollies offers 48 gourmet lollipops in tempting and innovative flavors ranging from pink lemonade to chocolate marshmallow sundae. These true-to-taste, mouthwatering lollipops have fewer than 100 calories, no preservatives and, best of all, are fat free. A Lindalicious treat! Rerations < Linda's Lollies 48 Count Box >

customer 's review (THE TIN CONTAINER MAKES YOU FEEL LIKE YOU'RE IN ANOTHER COUNTRY . . .)
(My favorite gum)
(altiods gum) Or maybe it's aluminum, I don't really know. But I do know that it feels luxurious and of another time when everything wasn't so disposable and temporary. If makes you feel like you're traveling in India (and I've never been to India, so this is just my fantasy) on a train, in a sleeping car where they serve you tea each night. Yes, yes, yes, the gum is great. But there is lots of great gum out there. (Have you looked at the rack below the cash register at a CVS? There's so much gum you panic as your turn comes up in line and you still haven't picked a pack.) This is another experience. It's dainty. It's sophisticated. It's not the kind of thing you grab in a rush when it's your turn to check out at the drugstore. There's something elegantly grown-up about it. This is my favorite gum also. I only found it in one pharmacy in NH. Very hard to find. Strong and yummy gum For some reason this gum is no longer available in my area. I was glad to find it on Amazon. The gum was up to its usual standards. I will order more soon because I am afraid that it is discontinued. INDICATIONS: Altoids Chewing Gum With Cinnamon Flavor is Chewing Gum From Altoids. The great taste of Cinnamon Altoids in the form of chewing gum. These tins fit nicely in any purse. They are "curiously strong" with natural flavor. These tins contain Cinnamon flavor gum which are round and approximately 1/2 inch in diameter. This gum is sweetened with Maltitol and Isomalt. (Electronic snap circuits)
(amazing)
(Great way to learn about electronics) i brought this kit over 1 month ago. i put them on high shelf. my sons (5 and 7) have been looking at the box for a long time. one day i need to do lots of house work so i took it out and they played it for hours. then i also found out, this kit is not enough for both so i had to get the extreme kit. i love this because they can experience different kind of connections. this is a good way to stay away from tv. I gave this to my grandson on his 6th birthday, and he can not put it down. He's getting his parents up at 6:30 am to help him construct projects. Great product - my grandsons really have enjoyed working with the circuits and making new things. I would buy it again. Our 9 yo made a few projects the first day and radio the next day he got the kit and now he doesn't want to take it apart, he carries it around the house and listens to his radio when he is home, he puts it on the night stand when he goes to bed, he turns it on first thing in the morning. It replaced all toys, he runs to his radio when he gets home from school. I was afraid this set would be too hard for him to get started, but it's not, he made everything by himself without any help. We are ready for the upgrade kit. Buy it, this is probably one of the best toys we ever bought for our son, thank you amazon for offering it and special thank you to everyone for your great reviews, they do not lie. Snap Circuits have created a great way tool for helping children better understand electronics and electricity without a lot of the mess that comes with other electronics kits. It's easy to snap together the circuits following the instructions and then describe what's happening.
Pros: Easy snap interface, hundreds of pre-designed circuits.
Cons: It doesn't come with much detail on what the components do or how the circuit works, so you need to understand it yourself first or be prepared to do a lot of studying on your own. Also, the integrated circuit components hide a lot of what is happening in those circuits, so some of the educational value is lost. This educational kit is loaded with more than 300 projects to build. For example, kids can learn how transistors and capacitors function, and how to make time-delay circuits. In addition, this version includes circuits showing how oscillators and photo sensors work. Projects involve an AM Radio, Burglar Alarm, Radio Announcer and more. Contains over 60 parts. Requires 4 "AA" batteries, not included. Electronic Snap Circuits by Elenco is an award-winning toy for budding engineers eight years old and above. The SC-300 model includes over 60 parts for creating more than 300 exciting projects. With lights, sounds, motors, and more, you'll not only enjoy creating beeping games, but also learn about basic electronics as well!

| Real Electronic Parts Electronic Snap Circuits includes real circuit components just like the circuit boards inside radios, televisions, computers, and other electronic devices. This set makes it easy for anyone to create simple electronic circuits and devices. To operate, you simply snap the electronic elements onto a plastic grid, and then connect them together with wire pieces that snap easily into place. The SC-300 lets you build electronic devices such as a whistle chip, speaker, alarm circuit, LED, lamp socket, fan motor, and a speaker. Additional pieces can be purchased separately, or in different models, and they can all be used together to create larger and more elaborate projects. Making Electronics Fun and Easy The included instruction manual offers 305 projects ranging from a simple light switch to a noise-activated burglar alarm. We found the color-coded instruction manual clear and easy to understand, and we had no problems creating any of the projects we tried. The projects are organized by levels of difficulty, and each project teaches an objective such as "To show how electricity can only pass in one direction through an LED." We definitely experienced a sense of satisfaction as we completed each project, and we definitely learned about electronics concepts. The manufacturer recommends the set for ages 8-108; younger engineers should be able to easily follow the diagrams for each project, but will probably require their parents to help explain how everything works. So a word of warning to parents: Brush up on your high school physics! Although the instruction offers some good information, we found that we still needed to brush up on the physics we learned years ago so we could understand concepts such as the difference between a circuit in parallel and in series. Unique Learning Experience Creating a flying UFO from "scratch" with rudimentary electronic pieces was highly satisfying to us, and we think Electronic Snap Circuits may well help young students gain and foster an appreciation for, and interest in, how electronics work and are built. For students who are already learning about electronics in school, this set creates a hands-on experience that makes for more fun than reading about how these things work in a textbook. So don't be surprised if report cards come back with higher grades after playing with this toy. Parent-Child Bonding Experience The Elenco Electronic Snap Circuits would make a great parent-child bonding experience that is both educational and fun. As you work through each project with your child, don't be surprised when you, too, are learning something new and interesting. And after you've completed all the projects, you can create your own! The combinations are limitless! What's in the Box Plastic "circuit board," over 60 pieces including wire, resistors, speaker, battery holder, motor fan, red led, and lamp module.

(Great fun and educational)
(ouch) I bought this instead of a plastic product because of my concerns regarding plastics. And I will point out that I could have probably gotten triple the amount of play food had I gone with plastic. But for safety issues, I chose this set instead. However, after a week of active play the paint is already chipping off of several pieces. So I don't have to worry about BPA, just about my children possibly ingesting lead.
All the Melissa and Doug products I've bought over the last 4 years have really seemed sub-par in quality, and of course they're all made in China. My child really enjoys this set but if I find a vendor with a non-MIC product, I will replace it. I use this to teach with in daycare. All the kids love playing pretend with it as well. Each food group comes in a different basket wich they love to set in the kitchen set. All of the pieces are very durable&high quailty. Forget the plastic play food and get this you won't have to replace any pretend food for a long time. Some where along the lines I missed that the food was wooden, I was expecting plastic for some reason. My son does seem to still enjoy it and using his food to help me cook. They do seem like they will hold up a lot better than plastic stuff. Just really heavy and not real size. I purchased this set along with four other sets and a food stand for my son for his birthday. He wanted to open a store and sell things. He has really enjoyed making sandwiches and selling his food to his brothers and his father and I. The set is a good size and has been played with in our house by girls and boys ages one to nine, not to mention how much I have played with it with them. Highly recommended. Very durable. My daughter has played with it for three years. I threw the orange and the apple away after being in the line of fire of a two year old's temper tantrum. Now she's four and the tantrums have passed. I guess I should have saved them but wooden fruit hurts! Who's hungry? Mix and match to make a yummy meal. This 21-piece set is full of well-balanced, nutritious pretend food. All four food groups are individually boxed in sturdy wooden crates for storage, sorting, and stacking. Rerations < Melissa&Doug Food Groups >

(An old game revisited)
(Mille Bornes Game is a big hit!!!!)
(fun)
(Not the cards you remember, but just as much fun) I have owned this game for as long as I can remember. I have an old set, so I can't comment on the durability of the new set. However, I have spent many an hour playing this game and it stands the test of time. It's fun, competitive, and teaches a few French phrases. It's easy to learn and fun to play with one or more other players. A winner! My family and I used to play this game as kids (there were 5 kids) I remember the cards being unique and funny and of course being so young didn't really understand how to play. My older brothers would tell me what to play. I remember how cool it was to have the "Right of Way" or as I remember it, the firetruck card that gave me the right to go without stopping or slowing down and the "driving ace" card that protected me from accidents. I hadn't played this game in 40 years and just remembered it one day and on a whim bought it to play with my own children. As an adult it's a completely different experience. The first game my 11 year old son and I won easily getting the "Right of way" card and "Puncture proof tires" card. Yeah! great fun. The next game my 14 year old daughter and my wife ganged up on us ruthlessly. I didn't any special cards and they got all of them. I couldn't find any Go cards and when I was hit with an out of gas card there were no remedy cards to be found... This is when I realized that this is probably the reason we stopped playing it all those years ago. Too many hurt feelings. Just as soon as I'd find a remedy card my daughter would trounce me with another accident or flat tire or out of gas card. It was more of a relief just to forfeit the game than to subject myself to more punishment. I recently purchased two Mille Bornes Card Games for the Learning Center where I am employed. (We have Middle School youth after school for about three hours.) I am always looking for activities that are both fun and educational for them and these game have become a big hit! The underlying Math concepts make the game a good mental challenge for them. I had played the game back in the early 70's and it was as fun as I remembered...THANKS! Lots of fun to play,&you practice your numbers in French while you're at it. We are loving this game, just as I did 30+ years ago. The cards are now standard playing card instead of what I remember as being oversized cards, and the illustrations are completely charmless. But there are still French translations, and the game itself is still completely enjoyable (I played with my 7 and 10 year old kids and they picked it up right away.) You're in a cross--country auto rally through France, and it's filled with real--life traffic hazards. You've run out of gas--do you have a Gasoline card' You've got a flat tire--have you got a spare' Use the deck's special cards to overcome hazards and put obstacles in your opponents' path. Stop them with a Red Light, impose a Speed Limit, cause a Breakdown. But watch out--they're trying to do the same to you! Contains: 106 playing cards, illustrated rules and score sheets. Play with 2, 3, 4 or 6 of your friends. You're cruising along at 100 mph, bolstered by an extra tank of gas, when suddenly your opponent cuts you off with a flat-tire card. You slam to a halt, sidelined until you draw a spare tire. It's a 1,000-mile race along an imaginary road; your goal is to arrive first, avoiding the hazards--flat tires, accidents, empty gas tanks--while inflicting them on your opponents and collecting the spares and repairs that will speed you on. The oddly absorbing Mille Bornes (French for 1,000 milestones and pronounced "meel born") has easy-to-follow rules of the road: green means go; red means stop; obey the speed limit at all times. You might even pick up a few words in French. Nostalgics beware: Anyone who owned an earlier version of the game will miss the acid-green plastic cardholder and the oversize cards. Mille Bornes is for two to six players. Rerations < Mille Bornes Card Game >

(Wait for the author's next...)
(What a wonderful story and great new author)
(A great book!)
(This guy might want to learn how to research a book) SPOILER: If you have not yet read the book, don't go further into this review.
I was very, very bothered by the author allowing his characters to search for Keiko in 1986 via the Internet.
There was NOTHING like the Internet in 1986. It was barely beginning in 1996!
Only scientists in major research institutes and universities had access to anything resembling email. In fact, access was cumbersome, very limited,&expensive.
Googling a person's name was absolutely impossible. There was no Google; no kind of search engine; no databases of such information.
It was this, more than anything else, that ruined the story for me. I just could not get past the error&wondered what else was incorrect that I didn't know about. This book held my interest through the first two thirds but then I realized it was too predictable for literary fiction but not light enough for a popular novel. I agree with those who say it would work better as a YA novel. However, YA novels are more sophisticated these days.
What worked: I loved the descriptions of early Seattle as well as the depiction of modern Seattle, including bus lines. The author is especially gifted at describing places, including the internment camp and the jazz club.
The original story line had promise. It was easy to imagine a young boy feeling out of place in Seattle.
What didn't work: The plot (especially the ending) was all too predictable. Much of the story seemed too good to be true. Henry seemed remarkably resilient; how did he survive a childhood with virtually no friends, unsympathetic teachers, and emotionally distant parents? Keiko's wisdom is way beyond her years and her parents seem idealized.
The pace of the book seemed slow and the writing was good, not spectacular. I'd be interested to see what the author does with his next novel. He seems to have put a lot of himself and his energy into this one and I hope he can bring the same intensity to the next, adding a stronger plot line and more plausible characters.
Pick this book up and could not put it down. What a wonderful story set in Seattle during WW11 and you sometimes forget what happen to all the Japanese American and the things the "white" made them go throught. This is a wonderful story of a boy then a man telling you his wonderful love story and what happen in his life when his wife dies he takes you on a journey so beautifully done that you feel you are living this with him. I started reading this and couldn't put it down wanted to keep on going and when you reach the end you want more from this author. Can not wait until his next book. Great storyteller. Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet is a great read! It is quickly engaging and stays engaging throughout the entire book. As many books do, it flips back and forth between present day and the past, but both story lines are enjoyable. A young Chinese American man is sent to the "American School" on scholarship where he meets a Japanese American girl also on scholarship during WWII. His father is a leader in the Chinese community, strongly opposes anything to do with the Japanese community so close by and tries to ensure his son will follow his rules. She is American, of Japanese descent, who does not speak a word of Japanese. Her family must endure what happened to Japanese Americans living in the US during this time period with the suspension, internment camps, etc...
I highly recommend this book. Strong family values, good intentions and life altering decisions make this a great book. This would make for an interesting book club discussion. There was an internment camp in my state, but wasn't much talked about. I always thought more people should know about that sordid racist part of our history. So when I saw this book had it as part of its plot, I took a chance. Wrong move. I didn't even get halfway through: the writing was clunky, like a Jr Hi student wrote it, the pace was absurdingly slow, the voices of each character sounded the same, the the narration was very much 2009. But worse for me were the numerous inaccuracies. I won't repeat what many others have already noted, but its obvious that this writer either didn't know how to do research for his book, or didn't care enough to try. Pity, in the hands of a better writer, this really could have been an excellent book. (btw I am giving it two stars and not one, because I didn't finish it). "Sentimental, heartfelt….the exploration of Henry’s changing relationship with his family and with Keiko will keep most readers turning pages...A timely debut that not only reminds readers of a shameful episode in American history, but cautions us to examine the present and take heed we don’t repeat those injustices."-- Kirkus Reviews
“A tender and satisfying novel set in a time and a place lost forever,Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweetgives us a glimpse of the damage that is caused by war--not the sweeping damage of the battlefield, but the cold, cruel damage to the hearts and humanity of individual people. Especially relevant in today's world, this is a beautifully written book that will make you think. And, more importantly, it will make youfeel." --Garth Stein,New York Timesbestselling author ofThe Art of Racing in the Rain
“Jamie Ford's first novel explores the age-old conflicts between father and son, the beauty and sadness of what happened to Japanese Americans in the Seattle area during World War II, and the depths and longing of deep-heart love. An impressive, bitter, and sweet debut.” --Lisa See, bestselling author ofSnow Flower and the Secret Fan
In the opening pages of Jamie Ford’s stunning debut novel,Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet, Henry Lee comes upon a crowd gathered outside the Panama Hotel, once the gateway to Seattle’s Japantown. It has been boarded up for decades, but now the new owner has made an incredible discovery: the belongings of Japanese families, left when they were rounded up and sent to internment camps during World War II. As Henry looks on, the owner opens a Japanese parasol.
This simple act takes old Henry Lee back to the 1940s, at the height of the war, when young Henry’s world is a jumble of confusion and excitement, and to his father, who is obsessed with the war in China and having Henry grow up American. While“scholarshipping” at the exclusive Rainier Elementary, where the white kids ignore him, Henry meets Keiko Okabe, a young Japanese American student. Amid the chaos of blackouts, curfews, and FBI raids, Henry and Keiko forge a bond of friendship–and innocent love–that transcends the long-standing prejudices of their Old World ancestors. And after Keiko and her family are swept up in the evacuations to the internment camps, she and Henry are left only with the hope that the war will end, and that their promise to each other will be kept.
Forty years later, Henry Lee is certain that the parasol belonged to Keiko. In the hotel’s dark dusty basement he begins looking for signs of the Okabe family’s belongings and for a long-lost object whose value he cannot begin to measure. Now a widower, Henry is still trying to find his voice–words that might explain the actions of his nationalistic father; words that might bridge the gap between him and his modern, Chinese American son; words that might help him confront the choices he made many years ago.
Set during one of the most conflicted and volatile times in American history,Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweetis an extraordinary story of commitment and enduring hope. In Henry and Keiko, Jamie Ford has created an unforgettable duo whose story teaches us of the power of forgiveness and the human heart. Rerations < Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet: A Novel >
