When the Neuro Fuzzy technology appeared, I decided to retire my old Zo and bought one. I used it regularly for a few years and then the IH came on the market and I just HAD to have one! I sent this one to my daughter, who uses it almost daily and is extremely pleased with it. For anyone who cooks rice several times a week, it very soon pays for itself in convenience and getting a perfect rice every time. (as long as one follows the directions and measures accurately)

(Just works) 『I think we have the same one but the Japanese model. ZH-LS18. Description (neuro fuzzy/10 cup) is the same and it looks exactly the same except that the writing is all Japanese. We got it when we were in Japan in 2003 visiting my wifes's family. We've had it for about 6 1/2 years and it just keeps on ticking. It makes the best rice I have ever had and can be used for more than just plain rice. The feature I personally like best is that you can leave it in warming mode for many hours and the rice stays nice and moist and warm and does not dry out.』

(Very nice, but be careful...) 『My 18 month-old loves her P'Kolino Silly Soft Seating in Kiko - Red, and has shown an interest in sitting on grown-up furniture, so this seemed like a natural purchase. In fact, between deciding on whether or not to get the Little Reader chair and actually buying one, she discovered the chair on her own at a local children's museum.
The very first thing I noticed when my box arrived, was that this product is made in the United States. I'm not irrationally against items that are imported, but I thought it was really nice to see a domestic product for a change.
My daughter went straight for the chair as soon as I had it out of its plastic... and jumped on it. And jumped, and jumped, and... whoops! Luckily, I was there to catch her. It's important to understand that this is really just a nice cover over a block of foam. It's deceivingly light, and although it doesn't tip easily from side to side, it does tip backwards easily if you don't have the back against a wall or heavy object.
As long as you're keeping an eye on your child when using the chair (if they have the inclination to be bouncy), this chair is great.
Oh... and for some reason, Amazon likes to put the green one on sale from time to time!』

(Wonderful) 『I first was exposed to Grandpa Elliot through the Playing for Change DVD/CD. I searched all over the Internet and could not find any recordings of his music other than some user-generated videos of him playing on the streets of New Orleans. When I saw that he now has a CD out I was extremely excited to hear it.
Sugar Sweet is a bit on the short side, clocking in with nine songs. I was a bit disappointed that more songs were not included, particularly "Amazing Grace," a song in which I have heard him do incredible renditions. That being said, what is included on the CD is very good. The album has a soul/blues feel to it, with Grandpa doing plenty of solos on the harmonica during songs. My favorite track is the gospel song "This Little Light of Mine." Grandpa's voice is perfect for this song.
I hope that we see more CDs from Grandpa Elliott in the future. He is a true American treasure. 』

It is one of the best tribute albums honoring the genius of George Gershwin. I have watched Joshua Bell perform live at the Opening Night for Concert Season at Hollywood a few years back where he shared the spotlight with John Groban. I was in awe and it was great seeing them perform before a live audience. Listening to his recorded performances is such a delight, but seeing him perform live made me appreciate his flawless violin artistry even more.
The eleven tracks were beautifully arranged for violin and orchestra and well-executed by Joshua Bell with the London Symphony Orchestra under the baton of a fine conductor, John Williams, and with the able support of film composer/arranger Alexander Courage. His performances from the first track to the last are as lovely, silky and soft as the petals of a pink English rose. Should George Gershwin be listening from Heaven above, it would surely bring a big smile on his face.
While all the performances are captivatingly charming, my top favorites include four of Gershwin's gems of gems, "Embraceable You," "Love Is Here To Stay," "But Not For Me" and "Nice Work If You Can Get It." These pieces are well-executed in smooth, fluid, effortless and flawless manner. Each piece is given an exquisitely classical twist that makes it more endearing to the ears of fine music lovers. Listening to these pieces is such a very soothing, relaxing and entrancing musical adventure.
After performing for more than fifteen years and subsequent Grammy awards to add to his name, Joshua Bell has well-established his reputation in the art of music as a performer and recording artist. He is definitely recognized as one of the best and youngest violinists who add beauty and grace to the wonderful world of music. His artistry is marked by endless elegance and timeless appeal.
Listening to this album radiates joy in my heart and exudes serenity in my soul. This album is able to achieve such sentiments to my musical sensibilities. I do hope it does the same to all its listeners.

(musicianship that mars music) 『I was eager to obtain a copy of Joshua Bell's CD viz The Gershwin Fantasy - as I adore Gershwin and have an enormous respect for Joshua Bell. The interpretations were dazzling to say the least; sometimes too much so. Great musicianship towers over the melodies and harmonies that make classical music 'popular'. One begins admiring the majestic thrust of Bell's variations but winds up deploring the actual sonority of great music subordinated to excessive blasts of interpretation. There is an old Rogers&Hart song entitled: "Don't Bury The Tune" and it kept recurring to me as I listened to Bell - not precisely 'burying the tune' but gussying it up with so many effusions of musical expertise that one became more aware of the 'variations' than the 'theme' which gave birth to them. Bell's firs CD of violin classics is something of a masterpiece, and what makes it so is fidelity to the notes as the composers wrote them. Ultimately, 'fantasy' is the right noun for this second CD. However these are not 'fantasies', they are precious, workmanlike examples of outstanding American music and deserve to be treated as the gems they are. Polished yes, but not rethreaded into garish costume jewelry.

Seriously folks, don't buy anything put out by this company, Jef Films, they've been stealing films left and right, including several well-known titles, and are simply killing any potential sales of the titles to legitimate companies who will treat the films right. I am appalled that this currently (at the time of this writing) is ranked at #7,846 on the Amazon DVD charts, which means in terms of this niche market it's a success. Shame on all of you who bought this disc when you could have just burned your VHS tape to a DVD-R for $2 and still helped ensure that the film will be treated properly in the future!! Any DVD release put out by Jef Films, Televista, New Star, etc. is a BOOTLEG!!!!』
(masterpiece, the greatest movie of the 80s) 『Holy God, this is truly a work of art. Danny Steinmann is an underrated master of cinema. He has done some of the best film ever made. Friday the 13th part V is one of them. This movie got everything, sexy Linda Blair doing nude scenes, plenty of action, an awesome soundtrack. This flick deserves to be on dvd with plenty of extras. Watch Linda Blair as she goes against a gang of nasty bad guys and try to avenge her sister's rape. Classic stuff here everyone! It 's a crying shame that this movie is out of print. Try to find it and you will love it, at least if you have good taste in movies.

(meet Danny Steinmann) 『[good things] It was a great revenge flick, with a great performance by Linda Blair. Linnea Quigley had a supporting non-speaking role that she did an awesome job with, plus she was absolutely adorable in this movie. It was a typical 80's movie, and since it was done by an ex-porn director (Steinmann) it had that element as well, alot of gratuitus nudity and bush shots.
[the bad] The movie seemed to a bit too sleazy, turning it into more of a softcore movie than anything else. Could have used more blood.
[final thoughts] I think this movie was more an exploitation film than anything else. There was a bit too much nudity, it seemed like scenarios were invented just to fit nudity in the mix (i.e. the fight in the shower). I still like this movie alot though, Linda Blair and Linnea Quigley do an excellent job despite the lack-lustre directing and screen writing. There are about a handful of scenes where you can see the boom-mic come down int he shot-- oops. 』

Suddenly these hot-shot punks become murderous, psychotic thugs--yet the tone of the picture never changes. The images are very disturbing, the violence bordering on realistic, but the director keeps it all hopping mad--like a nihilistic cartoon. Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Everything's Coming Up Crabgrass) 『It looked good on paper: Powerhouse performer Bette Midler playing the most famous role in musical theater, directed by Emile Ardolino, the guy who turned "Dirty Dancing" into a national phenomenon. So what went wrong? The truth is, Midler simply isn't a good enough actress to capture the subtleties of as complex a character as Momma Rose. She's all big eyes and broad gestures, waving arms and manic mood swings; it's a community theater performance, going for the obvious at every turn. Is Rose manic and driven at times? Yes, of course; her father calls her a "crazy woman" in an early scene. But from her first entrance, Midler seems to have confused "powerhouse" with "bulldozer." She spits her lines out in rapid succession, with all the bawdiness with which she tells her famous Sophie Tucker jokes in concert. But where's charm, humor, sexiness; all the manipulatively feminine characteristics that make Rose such a seductive, seditious presence in everyone's lives? Rose gets her way not because she beats Herbie, June and Louise into submission, but because her dreams and desires are so strong they have no choice but to believe in them themselves. Auntie Mame is described as The Pied Piper, but it's an apt description of Rose as well. Midler's characterization is so grating, I can't imagine anyone doing much more than running in the opposite direction.
Unfortunately, with the exception of Jennifer Rae Beck's Dainty June and Linda Hart's Mazeppa, the supporting cast is average at best. And however skilled Ardolino is at directing the musical sequences, he completely fails to mine the humor and tension of Arthur Laurents's brilliant dialogue. The production values are first rate across the boards. Personally, I think June's acts are a little over produced; a certain vaudeville seediness would have made more sense. But the producers and Ardolino obviously adore the material -- who doesn't? -- and they've approached it with tremendous love and attention, so it's hard to fault their decisions.
Is this a better version than the 1962 film? Yes and no. It's a far more faithful adaptation, with Laurents and Sondheim's bawdier material intact, but I think the earlier cast is far superior. I know I'm not supposed to like Rosiland Russell because she wasn't Ethel Merman, but I love the performance; for me, Russell finds the perfect balance between Rose's fierce passion and her crushing vulnerability. And Karl Malden and Natalie Wood are superb, the latter fragile and extremely touching. So as a record of the show as originally written, this version is a must for all musical theatre fans. But if you're looking for the definitive "Gypsy" on film -- it ain't been made yet.』
(Campy, artificial, no improvement on the 1962 film, but still GYPSY) 『About the best you can say for Bette Midler's performance is that she does her own singing. And even some of that is sloppy and careless. Her acting is one-note, and she kills her best comedy lines by alternately gasping or screeching them. (Say what you will about Roz Russell, she at least knew how to deliver lines.) We know that Madame Rose's kiddie troupe is getting a bit long in the tooth, but Jennifer Beck as "Dainty" June looks fully thirty years old. Cynthia Gibb is a lovely Louise/Gypsy, but Natalie Wood "aged" more credibly in the admittedly flawed by classier 1962 theatrical film adaptation. Peter Riegert is too mousy as Herbie, so much of the point of a strong man continually knuckling under to Rose's steamroller whim is lost. (When he does stand up to Rose, he seems more petulant than assertive.) Stars are wasted in bit parts, and Andrea Martin unwisely and unsuccessfully tries to be funny as Mrs. Cratchitt (who was played hilariously "straight" in the 1962 film by Jean Willes.)
The production itself looks cheesy and low budget, and the bright crayon colors don't help. Even the lamb was cuter in the earlier movie!
Still, it's an earnest attempt. And with great material like that, it's hard to go far wrong. As many others have pointed out, the adaptation is faithful to the original. But oh, why didn't somebody think to do a second film of GYPSY in the 70s while Merman was still around to do it?』
(FAITHFUL TO ORIGINAL, BUT MIDLER MISSES THE MARK) 『I LOVE the musical GYPSY. I knew that the creators of the original Broadway musical, Jule Styne, Stephen Sondheim and Arthur Laurents were extremely disappointed with the earlier 1962 film version with Rosalind Russell and Natalie Wood. Fair enough. So this TV adaptation is scene for scene, word for word exactly like the stage play script. That is excellent. The score is also one of the most outstanding in all of Broadway history. So, we get the original script and score; but unfortunately, that's all we get. I watched this TV movie with great anticipation. My enthusiam deflated as soon as the less than divine Miss M started singing "Some People." I realized, with horror, that she was not portraying Mama Rose. Instead, she was portraying her idea of Ethel Merman portraying Mama Rose!! To make matters worse, her voice sounds extremely hoarse and coarse. Midler never makes the role her own. Surely, Angela Lansbury, Tyne Daly, and even Rosalind Russell did their own individual interpretations of Mama Rose. If Midler had only thought for a moment about Mama Rose, as the other actresses did, instead of Ethel Merman, she might have had a major triumph. I give Midler credit for giving her all to "Everything's Coming Up Roses" and "Rose's Turn", but the overalll production goes straight downhill because Midler simply doesn't "got the stuff." Curiously, Midler did this TV version just after Tyne Daly won a Tony Award for her performance in a Broadway revival. So, any TV version around that time period should have gone by rights to Daly. I wonder if somebody in Midler's camp pulled strings to make this a Midler Vanity production? I know Russell stole the original film from Merman because her husband was a powerful agent. Even I did not mind Russell over Merman. But Midler seriously misses the mark! I know a thing or two about Mama Rose. I saw Judy Kaye play the role in a brief run in Seattle in 2001. Kaye just blew the roof off the theatre. Patti Lupone is doing a limited three week run in NYC as I write this. Now, that's a Mama I'd love to see. If you want a real powerhouse Mama Rose, skip Midler and go with the CD recordings made by Angela Lansbury (1973 London Cast) or Tyne Daly (1989 Broadway revival) instead.』
(Great rendition) 『I was recently in a production of "Gypsy" and have grown pretty attached to it. I thought this rendition was done quite well, but I prefer the Baby June from the original film and I prefer the strippers from the original film as well. I like Bette's performance the best out of the other Mama Rose actresses from film and/or Broadway.
My only complaint was a small glitch in the DVD that causes it to skip. Maybe a spin on the Disc Doctor will cure it.』

(A great movie that offers a glimpse into what Jackie was like while married to JFK) 『This is a great movie staring Jaclyn Smith covering the period of time of Jackie's childhood through when Jackie met Jack Kennedy and married him up until Jack's death in Dallas. It offers a glimpse of what Jackie was like during this period and what being married to JFK was like. The period of time called Camelot was a magical time in US history and this film offers a unique and up beat perspective into this period.
For example there is a part in the film where Jackie went to Europe and Jack asked here to bring back some books. A whole crate of them. After they were married Jackie complained that the press asked here questions like if her panties were cotton or nylon. Jack said that when you give them something better to talk about they will and that's when she decided to renovate the White House.
Jaclyn Smith's acting is superb and the contrast between the role she plays and Jackie's alcoholic father is quite interesting. It's an great addition the body of knowledge about Jackie and JFK and a great Jaclyn Smith film.
The VHS tape version that is currently available has a running time of 122 minutes. The original version was 150 minutes. It would be nice if ABC Circle Films who produced the film in 1981 or whoever owns it would release the entire 150 minutes on DVD. 』

This movie should be required viewing for all high school seniors, even though that may be too late. The sexual content makes it inappropriate for younger audiences. This movie is fantastic, both in social statement and satiric comment and insight into our country's problems. I'm a 50-year-old woman and professional writer. I'm blessed to have many, many smart friends who are college professors and doctors and lawyers and fellow writers. I've observed that the really smart, educated people are not reproducing. Most of my highly intelligent friends have purposefully made a decision to not have children.
Meanwhile, I also have connections to people who live in poverty down in the south. Despite the fact that they have no money and no education and no teeth, they're breeding like bunnies. And just as "Idiocracy" portrays, these folks are not pair-bonding for life. Sally Joe has six kids but those most of those six kids were fathered by different men, and those men fathered several other children by several other women.
I fear that if we don't start demanding that parents take full financial, moral and emotional responsibility for their offspring, that our future will look like that portrayed by Idiocracy. You can see some of that already. I'm an architectural historian and try finding a skilled craftsman who knows how to replicate early 20th Century craftsmanship. Try finding someone who knows how to install a new boiler for your hot-water heating system. Or better yet, go online and read some of the comments left at different sites by America's youth. Now *that's* scary. Our current crop of 20-somethings and 30-somethings know pretty much nothing about everything.
Whether or not you're into Mike Judge's style of humor, Idiocracy is an important movie and I fear that it's also a chilling portent of things to come.』

Whether or not it succeeds comes down to personal taste and the attitude with which it is viewed. The tone of this movie is cartoonish, and it's filled with over the top sexual and bathroom humor. This will turn many people off, but, unfortunately this is a necessary evil, because you can't lampoon these things without first displaying them.』

The Pentagon chooses him for a top-secret hibernation project due to his extreme "average-ness." They select Rita (SNL's Maya Rudolph), a prostitute, for the same reason. When the experiment goes haywire, the two emerge 500 years later--rather than one. Now it's 2505 and they're the brightest people in the over-polluted land. Everyone else is, basically, Beavis and Butt-head. Yes, the satire couldn't be less subtle, but the premise gives Judge license to make as much fun of junk food pop culture as dystopian classics like1984andPlanet of the Apes. (This film is truly something...) 『There is something about the pairing of an over-the-top Diane Keaton and an arrogant and sarcastic Jack Nicholson that just gets me every time. It doesn't matter that Keaton's antics can be completely unrealistic, or that Nicholson's `all too familiar' character development can verge on lazy; all that matters is that together they are undeniably entertaining. You can't help but get sucked into their chemistry, which just oozes onto every frame of this film.
`Something's Gotta Give' is one of those films that shouldn't work, and when dissected it really doesn't work, but manages of actually WORK thanks to a combination of smart dialog, funny performances and total chemistry.
Erica Barry is a playwright past her bloom who has fooled herself into thinking that she is happy being alone. Her daughter, Marin, is dating Harry Sanborn, a music producer who is so full of himself he comes across more pathetic than confident. Harry is the same age (or at least closer in age) as Erica. When a series of events forces Harry under the care of Erica, love starts to bloom in an unexpected area. Soon Harry and Erica are finding that they enjoy one another and soon they are giving themselves to each other in ways they never imagined possible; but, is this relationship really meant to work?
Nancy Meyers script starts off wonderfully, but it does start to drag in the third act; getting a little tiresome. I have found this to be a problem with Meyers work. She understands how to create something fresh and exciting in this genre (romantic comedy) that is so tired and clichéd, but she doesn't know how to edit very well. I actually liked the plot twist with the younger doctor falling for Erica, and I actually felt that the usually stiff and monotonous Reeves nailed his performance, but it does drag on for too long and starts to verge on unnecessary, which is sad since the plot point in its initial stages feels very nicely crafted. In fact, my only real complaints with this film fall in the scripts final stages.
Everything else seems to blend together beautifully.
Even though this film is riddles with quirks and flaws and moments that just feel SO WRONG, they work so well with one another. That's why I said that this is a film that works even though it technically shouldn't. Keaton and Nicholson thrive off one another and really give the audience their moneys worth. I wish that Nicholson didn't have to constantly fall back on this variation of his persona, but at least he does it well (unlike actors like Pacino who have played variations of themselves for years yet fail to be anything more than an annoying caricature).
This film is fun, and I applaud it for embracing an age bracket that is often dismissed in films, especially of this nature (how many senior romantic comedies are out there people?).』

Before I purchased this product, I began using Purology hydrating shampoo and conditioner with olive oil which was working much better than anything else I used before and which I still use on occasion, but I still had split ends. After being up way too late watching Infomercials on a Monday night, I decided to order the WEN sweet almond mint cleansing conditioner (through Amazon of course, to avoid being sucked into a repeating order dealie-doo). It arrived quickly, and I tried it immediately. It is quite a lot of work to massage and comb through my waist-length hair and it does require a lot of product each time in order to fully saturate(be sure to follow directions about adding water to create "lathering effect" and it will go a little farther) ,but the results were MUCH better than I expected! I literally "lost" 90% of my split ends (no idea how that works, but its a true story), get compliments on the shine and texture all the time and have more curl thanks to my locks being less weighed down than before. It is by no means a "miracle" product, but it definitely works some wonders for me! I occasionally will switch back to the purology (I have a 32oz of conditioner as well as shampoo left, so Im not wasting that $150 product)and I wash my hair every other day just to draw out the WEN's usage. If I were to use it everyday on my hair, the 32oz bottle would be gone in less than 3weeks! Overall, I will most likely be a lifetime user of this product once I run out of pureology. I reccommend you at least give it a try, though, as we ALL should know by now, everyones hair is different so it may not work for you as it did for me! I gave this product only 4 out of 5 stars simply due to the price, and the amount of work required to saturate long hair. Other than those two factors, I think it's amazing :D』

(Could be better) 『I love Paula Deen, and I love to bake. I am also pretty good at it. Most of the recipes are very tempting, but I do not like to use cake mixes and other pre-packaged food in my baking. I expected better from her.
Also, I have made 2 things so far. The orange brownies, and the pumpkin squares. While the brownies were very tasty, the baking time was way off, and the glaze is very thick - way too thick to pour, as she directs in the recipe. It's a very simple recipe, and I am sure that it was a mistake in the instructions.
The pumpkin cake was very good, but that was because of the icing. The cake itself was bland and tasteless, and crying out for additional spice and butter instead of corn oil. I belive that a cake needs to stand on its own, and the icing just enhances it.
That said, I'll still use the book, but I am aware that I will have to make a lot of adjustments.』

I haven't had any problems with the popcorn popping and I only have about 10 unpopped kernels in a whole batch and the side of my bowl isn't covered with kernel casings like it is with the stuff I get at the store. We had a great time popping a little bit of each kind along with our traditional orville kernels, and having a big family taste test. That alone was almost worth the purchase right there. There were definitely some I liked more that others. But I think that I just may not be a gourmet popcorn expert. While I liked some of these, I found that I was just as happy with our store bought orville. It could absolutely just be the fact that that's what I grew up on and it's my "comfort" popcorn. To me, it's just not worth spending the extra money. Now, the seasonings are a whole different story! I loved them!! I fell in love with the white cheddar seasoning!! It was the best white cheddar popcorn seasoning I have ever tasted. When I looked at it closely, I discovered why. The first ingredient in it is "Vermont Cheddar Cheese"!!! It actually tastes like cheese, not fake, chemically reproduced, cheese. My sister and I actually went through the small jar within about 4-5 months and I went straight to the fireworks popcorn website and bought more! The other seasonings were great too. The caramel pecan was definitely interesting! It was not something I would expect on popcorn, but ended up really liking it. The butter and salt were also great basic popcorn seasonings. And I have found that with popcorn seasoning, the finer the grain, the better. The more fine it is, the better it clings to the popcorn, so the super fine texture of these were excellent.
