customer 's review (My dog loves this treat!) I first bought this treat on a small rope in a local pet store. To find it here online was great because now I don't have to travel the 30 minutes to purchase more!
My dog loves this treat. He is a 33lb/4-month-old puppy and it keeps him happy and busy. I've only had this bag for a few weeks but it should last us a few months. A great product and a great seller! Organic Sweet Potato Chips are made of Organic Sweet Potato, Vitamin E and Love. They are excellent for your pets teeth and gums and are easy on the digestive system. These products are great for dogs, rabbits, birds, rodents and other small animals. They were tested on humans. 1 lb. bag. customer 's review (Great Chew!)
(rocy loves them!)
(Old Dog has new treat) My 18 months old dog loves the minute she got it. I've never seen her so excited, she was jumping up and down so hard the second time she smells the treat. I gave her other chews like bully sticks but this is a good alternatives. I will definitely buy it again. My dog loves these sweet potatoes! He runs to his favorite eating rug as soon as he gets one! My dog is 10 years old and a breed known for strong teeth but in the past couple of years he has not been able to enjoy many of them. These are wonderful for him. He does not have digestion problems or any issue chewing them. Nor does he have the digestion issue that tend to smell up the room so a big plus. I buy them in bulk now because I can not keep enough around. And they do not stain the carpet or bedding. An excellent chew for all dog sizes. Made of whole thick slabs of sweet potato, dehydrated. The chews have a hard surface, excellent for dental health, and a chewability that dogs love. Smaller breeds will chew these for fifteen to twenty five minutes. Medium to larger sized dogs will chew them faster, of course. All Sams Yams Dog Chews are particularly well suited for senior dogs whose teeth and gums are more sensitive. This is the first of four UK-only 2CD sets covering the entire Average White Band catalogue from their UK MCA debut in 1973 right through to their wicked RCA period in 1980/1981. Reissued by Britain's rated and respected EDSEL label (this is Edsel EDSD 2030), it doesn't take a particular genius to work out from the crammed CDs that there's an awful lot of goodies on offer here - gems from a hugely under-appreciated Scottish soul band.
Here's a detailed breakdown...
Disc 1 (56: 45 minutes): Tracks 1 to 8 are their debut album "Show Your Hands" originally issued in June 1973 on MCA Records MUPS 486 in the UK and on MCA MAPS 6694 in the USA. [Note: on the back of their second album's success (the "Pick Up The Pieces" "Average White Band" album), "Hands" was then given a different name and reissued in the USA in April 1975 as "Put It Where You Want It" with the opening song "The Jugglers" replaced by "How Can You Go Home"].
Tracks 9 to 16 are bonus tracks, most new to CD. "Reach Out", "The Jugglers" and "Back In '67" are "First Versions" recorded in London in 1971 and 1972. "How Can You Go Home" was issued as a NON-LP 7" single on MCA Records MCA 102 in the UK in January 1974 with 1973's "Twilight Zone" on the B-side (it was in itself reissued as MCA 186 in 1975 with the same tracks).
Disc 2 (79:50 minutes): Tracks 1 to 10 are their 2nd and most famous album "Average White Band" (also known as The White Album because of its distinctive plain artwork) issued on Atlantic K 50058 in July 1974 in the UK and as "AWB" in the USA on Atlantic SD-7308 in September 1974 (it reached number 1 in the USA, and number 6 in the UK in early 1975)
Tracks 11 to 20 are "The Clovis Sessions" CD on the Deluxe Edition of "Average White Band" from 2003 renamed here as a 'missing' album, "How Sweet Can You Get?"
There's a card wrap on the outside (all four card spines combined make up the famous AWB logo), a 20-page booklet on the inside with liner notes by noted soul expert and writer TONY ROUNCE with contributions from key band members - Alan Gorrie, Onnie McIntyre and Hamish Stuart. The mastering was done by ALCHEMY in London and the sound is similar to the superb Rhino remasters of 1993 - warm, ballsy and in your face for all the right reasons. There's also a huge and noticeable difference between the very airy production values of their UK debut and the glossy but beautiful polish on the second album by famed American producer ARIF MARDIN. But the truth is - it all sounds spiffing...
It's worth pointing out that if you already own the Deluxe of AWB from 2003, there is only Disc 1 to be interested in - but the music is still great.
That the Scottish are as funky as f**k should surprise no one (John Martyn, Cado Belle, Love And Money, even The Blue Nile funk with the best of them), but they all have one common thread - SOUL - it may be white boy's soul - but it's soul - par excellence.
Retailing at ten pounds in a UK megastore, I've seen this 2CD set online for as little as a fiver (eleven/twelve dollars), which is ludicrously great value for money.
The Average White Band were always the business - and even possess what is arguably the coolest name ever given to a rock group in the history of the world.
Don't be a wee timorous beastie and get this into your life...recommended big time.
PS: the other titles in this import series are: 1. The Collection Volume Two Features "Cut The Cake" (1975), "Soul Searching" (1976) and "Benny&Us" (1977), 3 full albums on 2CDs - Edsel EDSD 2031 2. The Collection Volume Three Features "Person To Person" (1977 2LP Live Set) and "Warmer Communications" (1978), 3 full albums with 2 Bonus Tracks on 2CDs - Edsel EDSD 2032 3. The Collection Volume Four Features "Feel No Fret" (1979), "Volume 8" (Volume III from 1980 expanded), "Shine" (1980) and "Cupid's In Fashion", 4 Albums Worth Across 2CDs - Edsel EDSD 2033 2009 two CD set containing a trio of albums from the above-average Scottish Funk band: Show Your Hand (1973), the unreleased How Sweet Can You Get (1974) and their official sophomore album Average White Band (1974). Their debut album, Show Your Hand, is expanded to feature eight bonus tracks, seven of which are previously unreleased. The second disc commences with what was intended to be the band's second album for MCA, How Sweet Can You Get?. However MCA rejected it, and it was only ever issued as part of a White Album package many years later. We have now created its intended sleeve for the first time for this special release. Producer Arif Mardin heard the songs, signed the band to Atlantic Records and set about re-recording eight of the songs along with two new compositions. The resulting album Average White Band was issued in September 1974 and was sitting at the top of the charts by Christmas (along with 'Pick Up The Pieces'), going on to spend a whole year in the listings. (Super collection) Whaddya say gate?
This is one hep swinging double cd set! Put on your zoot suit, slick your hair back, bust your conk on this mess and swing out Jack!
The Big Bands are wonderfully represented on this set, everything from Tommy Dorsey, Glen Miller, The Andrews Sisters, Harry James, and many many more. The quality is good but I'm weird that way, I actually enjoy the old sound and too much "remastering" takes away from the overall sound...
You will NOT be disappointed with this set!!
Its solid swing!
Wonderful.....took me back to my childhood and listening to my folks records. I am happy I purchased this, actually I bought two copies, one for my car and one for home. A Must to listen to&recall the days. A Big Must for your collection. We bought this CD to play at a family reunion honoring my wife's 91-year-old mother, an 87-year-old uncle and two aunts of the same generation. The tunes brought back a lot of memories. All the best of the best original artists. Brings back a lot of memories. Sound and selection not to be equaled. No need of another collection. R.P. (A must have)
(benny Goodman Collectors edition)
(The Real Stuff)
(My Cup of Tea) This CD is a great introduction to 20th Century Classical music. Though it features the artistry of Benny Goodman, don't expect to hear him wail like he did with Lionel Hampton and Gene Krupa playing "Four Once More". No, this CD reflects Goodman's talent as a classical musician. For even though some of these pieces are jazz-inspired, they are all written by classical composers in a classical format. It's a different side of Benny Goodman that is a testimony to the notion that the "King of Swing" could have had just as lucrative a carer as a clarinet virtuoso in the classical style and could have moved on to being a great American composer and/or conductor for symphony orchestras. Probably, there was a lot more money to made, and a better chance of becoming famous, in the world of jazz.
In any case this CD features four 20th century classical works for clarinet, and orchestra and one 20th century chamber work. Each piece also features the composer as conductor, except for the chamber work which features the Bela Bartok on piano. Indeed, it is an all-star summit meeting of some the greatest 20th composers, namely Leonard Bernstein, Igor Stravinsky, Aaron Copland, Morton Gould, and Bela Bartok.
The Bernstein, Stravinsky and Gould pieces are the ones which are jazz-inspired, albeit they are really not jazz any more than the folk-inspired symphonic music of Dvorak is authentic Czech folk music as played by a band of Czech street musicians. As Dvorak did with folk music, Bernstein, Stravinsky and Gould take jazz rhythms and other characteristics of jazz and replicate that feeling within a classical framework.
Bernstein's "Fugue and Riffs", however, sustains a certain aura of jazz authenticy. For even though Bernstein was a classical composer and conductor, his occaisional crossovers into Broadway and his New Yorker status make for something of a modified reworking of Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue"; you can feel in "Fugue and Riffs" the sights, sounds and smells of the busy New York City traffic. It's quite nice.
Stravinsky's "Ebony Concerto" is probably the most masterful piece in this whole collection. I am not a huge enthusiast of Stravinsky, but I admire this concerto as it weds beautifully the classical European concerto form with the jazz style. Even though Stravinsky is difficult and cerebral, you know that when you hear his music and witness his perfect craftsmanship, that you are in the presence of greatness.
The music by Morton Gould is the weakest of the jazz-inspired pieces here, as it sounds the most contrived; however, it is still good enough to have some fun with.
The Concerto for Clarinet and String Orchestra by Aaron Copland is an outstanding work that reflects Copland's tender and elegant side (not like his "rootin-tootin" "Rodeo" or "Billy the Kid" Suites). The Clarinet Concerto is rather a more quiet piece of work (Like parts of "Appalacian Spring"). The concerto is subtle and gentle in it's beauty and it is lightly tinged by just a hint of South American influence. It is another masterful work by an 20th Century master.
The final piece is Bartok's Trio for Violin, Piano and Clarinet. It features Goodman, Joseph Szigeti, and the composer on the piano. It has Bartok's characteristic Hungarian flavor cloaked in a mysterious and ultra-modern tapestry. It's also quite nice.
If you are a fan of classical music, but have yet to venture into the seemingly harsh world of twentieth century music, this makes for an excellent sampler. Benny Goodman plays in a full bright, expressive and masterful tone. If you are used to classical music of the more popular variety (Beethoven, Tchaikovsky etc.), this CD may be challenging at first; but given an even chance you may like it. I first bought these recordings on vynal years ago. It was one of my first introductions to 20th century or "Modern" classical music. I am glad to have upgraded to conveniant CD form. BG will always be the master of all clarinetists in Big Band era, but if you enjoy Classical Music, although it's not a German-Stile precission play (Leister....) you will enjoy the emotion of hearing Copland's Concert by the man it was intended to sound....among other contemporary music.
You will enjoy it, if not, at least, you will find it very interesting if you are a clarinetist and you are looking for a piece of your instrument's music. An excellent CD to have for all the fans of this great legend. If the Copeland concerto doesn't move you, then nothing will. This disk collects Benny Goodman performances with the composers conducting, so it is historic and probably authoritative as to performance, but great to have Copland, Stravinsky, etc. themselves and Goodman in your collection. Nice performances, although sound varies with these vintage sessions. Goodman's performances of all the music on this disc are superb. He (along with violinist Joseph Szigeti) commissioned the Bartok score and, notwithstanding its age (mono/1940) there has never been a better recording than this one. The other performances are first-rate stereo recordings that appeared on a 1966 CBS/Columbia Lp titled"Meeting at the Summit."Morton Gould's music often sounds like watered-down Copland to my ears, but"Derivations"is a really strong piece and quite memorable. The Stravinsky is a true masterpiece that has never sounded better, and the same goes for Bernstein's powerfully imagined, joyous"Prelude, Fugue and Riffs."Having the composers conduct was an inspired idea (in the case of the Bartok, the composer accompanies at the piano); not at all gimmicky. It's amazing how well Goodman still played in the middle '60s. Although he gave solid performances well into the '70s, he was still at or near his peak when these recordings were made and the dead-on intonation and range of color in his playing is simply breathtaking. The other reviewer mostly likes the Copland score. It's nice, but the real show-stopper here is the Bernstein: 7 1/2 minutes of sheer big-band bravado. Not to be missed! (Endearing but Too Religiously Preachy)
(Great series!)
(Love Comes Softly)
(Love Comes Softly) This is instalment 1 of an 8 part series from the Halmark Channel. It is a great show following many generations of one family. Tales of great struggle and thier battle to overcome adversity with the help of the Lord. The entire series is incredible and the message is powerful. Great family film. Endearing film and the starter to the equally endearing Love... series.
Be forewarned that this series is faith-based, replete with a heavy emphasis on Christian beliefs. I wasn't aware of this before I watched; although, 'written by Michael Landon, Jr.' should have been a tipoff to me. So if you are not religious you may find the repeated references to God, bible, and religion tough to take. Several times I utilized my fast forward button to get me through some of the more over-the-top preachy dialogue.
But putting religion aside, the movie's wholesome focus on love and family is refreshing. So much of our society is sex and violence centric. It is refreshing to take a look back at how life used to be before our society became uncontrollably warped by the crudeness of drugs, greed and lust. It makes me almost willing to give up modern conveniences if we could go back to life as it was back then-- minus the social injustices suffered by women and ethnic groups. These dvds are full of drama, set in the 1800's and they have moralistic themes. Highly recommend for high school age kids. The movie isn't quite true to the original story in book form; but it is a very touching story about loss, healing, forgiving, acceptance, and learning to love again. One of the best Christian family movies that I have seen in a really long time. I highly recommend this movie showing hurt and true love that will last a lifetime.
Marty and Aaron Claridge (Katherine Heigl and Oliver Macready) travel west in search of new opportunity in the 1800's. But when tragedy strikes and Marty is suddenly widowed, the young woman must face the rugged terrain, bleak weather, and life among strangers-alone. That is until a handsome widower named Clark Davis ( Dale Midkiff) suggests a platonic "marriage of convenience" until Marty can return home. As the months pass, through, Marty and Clark discover an unexpected new love where there was once only loss. A young woman recently widowed on the American frontier agrees to a marriage of convenience for survival and finds love. Genre:Feature Film-Drama Rating:UN Release Date:22-FEB-2005 Media Type:DVD Writer/director Michael Landon Jr. continues in his famous father's footsteps by creating moral family entertainment set in the early days of the American prairie. Stubborn Marty Claridge (Katherine Heigl,Grey's Anatomy) travels west with her new husband--but after they find a beautiful patch of land, her husband dies in an accident before they've even started building. A man named Clark (Dale Midkiff,Air Bud: World Pup) makes a proposal: If Marty will enter into a platonic marriage with him, he'll pay for her passage back east in the spring. What Clark needs is a mother, however temporary, for his willful tomboy daughter Missie (Skye McCole Bartusiak,Beyond the Prairie, Part 2). Missie fights Marty's presence fiercely while Clark, though supportive, speaks few words, and Marty suspects she's made a terrible mistake--but time reveals otherwise.Love Comes Softly, based on the popular Christian novel by Janette Oke, is a romance, but Landon carefully avoids any bodice-ripping histrionics. Problems get solved perhaps a little too easily, but the movie is cleanly written, pleasantly understated, and respectful to its characters. For many viewers,Love Comes Softlywill be a welcome change from overheated secular love stories.--Bret Fetzer Rerations < Love Comes Softly >

(Awesome Movie for Kids!!)
(Terrible Two's Tantrum-Stopper) My 2 yr old granddaughter LOVES this Elmo video! We usually watch it 2 or 3 times in a row. She has learned all the dances and will dance and sing along. It's a cute one, I'd highly recommend it! My daughter just turned 3 and loves Elmo! She really likes this DVD! I'd say it's a good buy for your child if they are an Elmo fan! My son is 3 months old and is very entertained by this video. He looks at the video and coes with a few arm and hand movements. I find that the video is a fun tool for learning and recommend it for young children. My little brother watched this movie over and over. It is educational and fun. I bought it recently to show my husband. Love it!! We took this on a 10-hour flight to keep our 24-month-old occupied and she was entranced immediately. Admittedly, Elmo was already her favorite character so the odds were in our favor, but this video has a charming selection of vignettes associated with the title. It's good-humored, has some great sing-along songs and as you would expect it's also informative-educational; pure Sesame Street. We now have a 2-year-old who likes to gallop around the house shouting 'Ee-harrr' and practice putting a blanket and bridle on an imaginary pony. (Guarding Tess)
(Yes, Ma'am!)
(Great!)
(Great Movie!) Wonderful, feel-good story about a secret service man guarding a former fist lady. Great cast, great movie. THis is a favourite and a fun movie. Shirley MacLaine does a wondeful performance of an ex-First Lady who knows she is in the middle of nowhere with not much of a life. Nicolas Cage is great as the annoyed head of her security detail. The DVD arrived quickly and in great shape. That's the answer everyone gives Tess Carlisle (MacLaine) if they know what's good for them.
SAIC (that's Special Agent in Charge) Doug Chesnic wants to leave Tess' detail. He's been there three years and he wants to go back to Washington where the action is. Well, and besides, Tess Carlisle is driving him nuts.
He gets as far as the Director of the Secret Service's inner office only to be told that Mrs. Carlisle called the President and wants him back. What choice has he, but to go.
Doug thinks he's going to be tough on her, but the battle of wills between the two of them has none other than the President mediating when Tess can't win herself.
The film's a battle royale between two very strong-willed characters, but in the end when the chips are down, these two people take care of each other.
"Guarding Tess" is one of those surprise films that ends so well the bickering at the front's almost erased. It's just a good watch occasionally when you need to take some stress off. Shirley McLaine is really convincing in this role as a rather difficult aging public figure, the widow of the deceased VP. Her co-star was a good match as well. I loved the movie. Maclaine plays a former First Lady who is a real piece of work, Cage is a Secret service man, the storie is funny and touching at the same time, I think is one of their best movies. A warm, funny look at life outside the White House, about a cantankerous former First Lady and the unwilling secret service agent assigned to her detail. Tempers and humor run high as these adversaries go head to head and discover a surprising friendship. Nicolas Cage stars in this drama-comedy about a Secret Service agent unable to get out of his assignment watching over an exasperating former first lady (Shirley MacLaine). The two get along like oil and water, but when MacLaine's bored widow ends up kidnapped, Cage's agent becomes a determined avenger. While the pairing of these two actors in a movie isn't something most audiences would ever have considered, that's what makes it so much fun. Cage and MacLaine are brilliantly focused in their respective parts, and filmmaker Hugh Wilson brings an unusually solid and urgent feeling to a story that might have become a dismissible light comedy in another director's hands.--Tom Keogh Rerations < Guarding Tess >

They still have the same taste, but are lighter (well as light as these can be) and don't stick to your teeth nearly as bad. It's wafers and the orange "butterfinger" layered together. To be warned though, this is a LOT of candy and the king size bars are way too much for one person to eat. I'm not sure I'll ever reorder because of the size. The product is very good though. (Great conversation peice) My real cat was really spooked by the robot kitty and tried to chew its whiskers! have to patt the robot kitty's head same as I do my "real" cat! My mother is 91 with senile dementia. She lives in assisted care and can no longer have the company of her pets. Its a lonely time for her and the addition of this automated companion truly began enriching her life the moment he arrived. There's very little I can really do for her these days...this was huge. I just gave this to my daughter yesterday for her birthday. She LOVES it! It works perfectly and have no issues so far. It's amazing how much it sounds like a real cat! Right now it's "sleeping" on the couch :-) I love this cat even though I have several real cats - whom I also love. It's fun to play with and has great eyes.

(These are awesome!)
(Great Puzzles for my preschooler)
(Breaks easily)
(Quality Puzzles) I shopped for these Melissa and Doug puzzles online after purchasing a 24 piece one for my daughter who will turn 3 in a little less than a month. She started getting interested in puzzles when my husband pulled out a 1000 piece puzzle which she sat and "helped" him with for hours. She mastered the 24 piece one in a day and was putting it together in minutes. I had already priced out the 48 piece ones at the stores in the area and was amazed when I found this 2-pack for the the price of one puzzle at the toy store. I am starting a home day care so I bought the other 2-pack also. From reading other reviews I sat and opened the puzzle packs with an exato knife in hand to carefully separate the pieces and remove any wooden splinters before turning them over for use. A few minutes well spent. She assembles them in the tray and not having a picture to look at doesn't seem to bother her (The picture is on the back of the tray). The colorfull pictures are engaging and the puzzles are durable well worth the money I spent. My 4 year old and now my 9 month old daughters LOVE the Melissa&doug puzzles! My 4 year old pulls them out at least 3 or 4 times a week. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who has kids! Great product, very durable, colorful and great for little hands! My '5' year old preschooler got these puzzles for Christmas. She loves them. She does them over and over again. I am very impressed with how well they are made. I would definitely by other products by this company. This was bought for a 5 yr. old. When she took it apart to put it together, the top layer of thin wood (on which the design is glued?) broke off on several of the pieces. I had to glue them back on and don't know if they'll stay or if others will come off. Very disappointing from the usual quality of Melissa and Doug products I've come to expect. These puzzles are very good quality and fit together perfect. They are so colorful and are better than anything else I've seen in the stores. The picture is on the back of each board so my daughter knows which puzzle goes on which board after she's dumped them both out on the floor. These are a little much for her to do completely as she's almost 3, but we have lots of fun doing them together for now. Our Fresh Start line of wooden puzzles will intrigue any child with adorable artwork and easy-to-grasp pieces. Usually ships in 24 hours customer 's review (Cattle Valley VII great, but problem with print version)
(Cattle Valley 2 by Carol Lynne) "Sweet Topping" was a lovely story with a relatively unique aspect in gay romance. Kyle became paraplegic after an accident years ago. Gill, a former pro-football player, wants a relationship with him. The best part of this story is that the author doesn't shy away from the reality of Kyle's life. His bakery kitchen is specially designed with equipment he can reach from his wheelchair; he has a horrible experience when his elevator gets trapped between floors and his physical limitations (both sexual and everyday) present challenges for Gill and Kyle to overcome. But, they do so together. Their courtship was sensitive, tender and very real. There was one thing that disappointed me though.
Warning, minor SPOILER: In the end, Kyle manages to walk with the aid of a walker after much intense therapy. I would have preferred if he hadn't. I do love a happily ever after, but this was unnecessary. Gill loved Kyle despite the paralysis and it was nice to read a romance with a physically disabled person who was loved just as he is. This message lost some of its impact when Kyle "got cured." Despite this, I thought the story was very well done and well worth reading.
"Rough Ride" was actually the first Cattle Valley story I read before I knew there was a series. And it was so good I went looking for more. Our hero is Palmer "Wyn" Wynfield. In the first novella of the series, we learn Wyn was the victim of partner abuse. He's always had a soft spot for Ezra James, though a misunderstanding the first time they met has kept them apart. Now Wyn is back in his old town after his father's death - and some people in town are giving him a hard time. He calls Ezra for help. What I liked about this story was that though Wyn needed help, he isn't helpless. He owns his own store and has friends he cares about. While working out what to do with his father's ranch, the two men work out what went wrong between them. When they return to Cattle Valley, Wyn has to confront the problems of Ezra's jealous friend. This story was more straightforward, but still a solid romance with some hot love.
I enjoyed these stories almost as much as Cattle Valley (Volume 1), and would have given them both five stars. However, the production quality for V2 is not as good and it lost a star because of that. In V1, the font size was reasonable (I'd guess about 12 or 13 point) with a quarter of an inch margin. I'm not sure if it was a production error, but in V2 the print is smaller (maybe 9 or 10 point) and the margins suddenly became one and a half inches wide! This made the book more cumbersome to read because I had to nearly crack the spine to read the words near the center. While this was a problem, I would still recommend the book, and I hope the publisher corrects this for the next volume. Highly recommended series!
Update: I have learned from the author that the production problem has been corrected and new shipments should not have the issue I have with my book. 5 Stars! Sweet Topping (Cattle Valley) by Carol Lynne
Sometimes when Carol Lynne decides to talk about a delicate matter, she does it with so much details that, if not be for her ability to write romance, it could be almost like read a clinical papers. And instead reading this book, I was involved by the characters and not distracted by the details.
Kyle is the young baker of Cattle Valley. He is from a wealthy family but he has left his comfort life after a bad accident which has left him tetraplegic. Even if Gill has proved in every way his interest in Kyle, he is still reluctant to start a relationship with the man, cause he seems not to be able to have a normal sexual life and his day-to-day needs are so embarassing for him, he has no desire to share them with another man.
But Gill is very stubborn and he will not let go until he has not conviced Kyle to give him a chance.
Even if Kyle should be the protagonist of the story, and usually I have a soft spot for the bottom, I think that Gill steals a bit the scene this time. Gill is a big Afro American man, with a big heart, and he is very tender and caring. He is almost too good to be true.
Only one question remains in my mind... why the title, Sweet Topping? Maybe cause Gill is a sweet man?
Rough Ride (Cattle Valley 4) by Carol Lynne
Fourth episode in the Cattle Valley gay soap opera. Cattle Valley is the gay fantasyland for all the men searching a soul mate of the same sex (techinically also for women, but Carol voted herself to the manlove romance).
Since the first episode we meet Wyn, the high-maintenance store owner who is just out of an abusive relationship with the former minister of Cattle Valley. Wyn is a little skittish, being a small man; and he is not a young stud, he borders to forty or even a little more. And since the first episode we know that something is going on with Ezra, the big ranch owner. Ezra is almost a giant, 6 feet and 11 inches tall with a unkept bears that makes him the best next thing to a real bear. No one would think that Wyn and Ezra could be a couple, but the two of them seem unable to stay far from the other and when they are near to each other, they seem unable to not argue.
But when Wyn needs to go back home, in his omophobic home town, and the welcome home kid party is not a good one, Ezra like a knight in shining armour, comes to rescue. From this moment on, Wyn and Ezra are a steady couple, but back in Cattle Valley not all the townfolks are happy of this new development.
This episode is a nice one. Not too much drama, two nice characters and a little sexy story. You know from the start that Ezra and Wyn will be a couple, we were waiting three books for this to happen, and so we are ready to be plunged into the real story without much notice.
As always we have also the chance to know the future characters in the series: Matt and the doctors, Richard, also an Olynpic Gold Medal and probably Smokey and Neil. In the past we met also the chef of the only restaurant of Cattle Valley, but in this episode he doesn't make an appereance. So who will be the next? the soap opera continues... Two of Cattle Valley's largest residents are about to fall, and fall hard. Sweet Topping: Wheelchair-bound, Kyle Brynn loves his home above the bakery he owns and runs. Darshawn 'Gill' Gilling quit professional football at the height of his career without a word to the press as to why. Now settled in Cattle Valley, Gill's happy running his garage and gas station. Most folks in town tend to be a little awestruck when Gill comes around, but if he wanted fans he'd have stayed in football. What he really wants is that cute little baker down the street. Rough Ride: For rancher Ezra James, life is pretty simple. He wakes before dawn and spends his day working with the cattle he loves. For twenty years, the EZ Does It ranch has been enough to drown out his loneliness. Palmer Wynfield caught Ezra's eye the first time the rancher stepped foot in the store. Though Ezra knew his large size intimidated others, his little self-confidence was shattered when Palmer backed away in apparent fear. An early morning phone call changes his life. Though the line is scratchy, Ezra definitely hears the words he's been waiting to hear from Wyn for years. "I need you." Rerations < Cattle Valley, Vol. 2: Sweet Topping / Rough Ride >

(Treats for Special Occasions Only)
(Delicious and encouraging) These are classy recipes. I love the flour base, can use brown rice flour. The banana bread recipe is amazing!!! If you are looking for some classy deserts/treats - this is the book for you! Some nice pics, just a great book. This cook book is my favorite for gluten-free baking. Truly gourmet recipes from someone who clearly knows what they're talking about. The recipes in this book produce really great food--the type of food that people won't know is gluten-free. The instructional explanation of technical terms in the front of the book is really helpful, too. Every recipe I have made from this book has tasted excellent, the best gluten free dessert book out there I bought this book because it was so highly recommended by others I met on a gluten-free trip - and there are breakfast treats I may try when the family comes to visit (muffins, scones, coffee cakes, etc.). Lots of elaborate desserts too, which I might try for a pot-luck if I ever get tried of baking cheesecakes or carrot cake. But that's all the cookbook gives you. The chapters cover breakfast treats, cookies, cakes, icings, pies and tarts, puddings and cobblers, and cream puffs and crepes, and that's it - none of the day-to-day, like biscuits and corn bread and pizza crusts and such. (OK, she does suggest using a scone dough for pizza, baked in a parchment-lined pizza pan. It's that kind of book.) Lots of butter and other ingredients (like heavy cream) I try to avoid too - the non-celiac in the house is on a low-fat diet and we both try to eat sensibly. I still haven't decided whether to hold on to it or give it to a newly diagnosed fellow celiac who is still trying to gain weight. Fortunately I also own Annalise Roberts' book - Gluten-Free Baking Classics - which has the basic day-to-day along with the breakfast and other sweet stuff (everything I've tried has been fabulous, from the carrot cake to the cornbread to the first really good bread - her French Italian bread - I've been able to make in 15 years of gluten-free cooking). If I ever get bored with that book, I might learn to appreciate this one. It does seem to have more recipes in each category - and if you already have the basics covered and are looking for a variety of more elaborate treats to try, it might be the book for you. My daughter and my husband were both recently diagnosed as being allergic to gluten (although not Celiac). At first we just avoided everything with gluten in it and I didn't try to make any replacement foods for their favorite -and now off-limits- baked goods. I LOVE to bake, but I was very confused and intimidated by the new world of gluten-free baking. The ingredients are so expensive compared with wheat flour that I was very afraid of baking up a costly disaster. But, my husband was in mourning for baked goods so I took the plunge and got this book from the library. The instructions are very clear and guide you around the differences between the wheat version and GF versions. For example, you don't have to worry about overworking GF pie crust, which makes sense if you think about it, but is TOTALLY different than the treatment of a wheat crust. I have made several recipes out of this book and we have loved them all. I have taken them to work as treats for collegues and they are incredulous when I tell them that they are GF. A group of us wheat-eaters all agreed that Reilly's GF brownie recipe is better than the "normal" wheat-laden recipe I used to bake. This book gave me new-found confidence in GF baking. I am very happy that I can provide delicious "normal"-looking and tasting treats that are safe for my family to eat. I have now returned the libraries copy and have bought my own. If you are among the 1 in 250 american adults intolerant of gluten or allergic to wheat, you know how frustrating it can be to crave a buttery scone or a slice of warm pie. And if you have kids who are gluten-sensitive, you know how much they miss being able to bite into a chewy chocolate chip cookie when they come home from school and how much they hate having to say no to a slice of a friend's birthday cake. Now, withGluten-Free Bakingby Cordon Bleu-trained chef Rebecca Reilly, you don't have to sit by while family and friends indulge in desserts and other confections. More than 125 recipes for sweet and savory goods, including crispy cookies, meltingly tender muffins, elegant quiches, and stunning layer cakes, prove that eating can be a pleasure, no matter what your dietary issues are. Baking without wheat is notoriously tricky, but using Reilly's detailed step-by-step recipes, anyone will be able to turn out tempting treats like moist Pumpkin Bread and tender Sour Cream Coffee Cake. Crisp Ginger Molasses Cookies, Lemon Squares, and Pound Cake are kid-and family-pleasing favorites that will no longer be off-limits. In addition, you'll find tips on how to stock a gluten-free kitchen, advice on techniques, sources for ingredients, and a list of resources and information on celiac disease and gluten sensitivity. Gorgeous color photographs show you how appealing gluten-free desserts can be. WithGluten-Free Baking, you'll never miss out on the opportunity to feast on sinfully rich desserts again! (GREAT RECIPES-EASY) Just what I wanted. Cookies to learn about my Italian heritage. I especially like the short descriptions of each recipe and the history of where the recipes came from, aunts, neighbors, etc. Looking forward to trying several of the cookies and sharing with friends. I admit this is a lower score than maybe is warranted, but the cookies were nothing special. They were good, but then they were made of sugar. I would say, you will be really happy with 3 recipies out of this book, but might learn something from some others. Really not alot of info, but then again, less then 10, dollars. Having grown up in Connecticut amid its wonderful Italian bakeries, I was thrilled to find this cookbook. The fact that the author owns an Italian bakery in Waterbury was enough of a recommendation for me. So far, I have made seven of the cookie recipes, and have enjoyed them all. The only problem I had was running out of pine nuts for the Pignoli cookies. I'll buy twice as many, next time! One reviewer complained about the lack of photos in the book, so I am posting my own. I love this book. I have always wanted to know how to make these authentic Italian cookies...and here they are all rolled up into on great book! I think its great! SWEET MARIA'S ITALIAN COOKIE TRAY COOKBOOK IS WONDERFUL. VERY EASY RECIPES BUT QUITE A SELECTION. AMUSING LITTLE STORIES WITH THE RECIPES MAKE IT FUN TO BAKE FROM THIS BOOK. I HAVE THIS BOOK AND HAVE BOUGHT SEVERAL FOR GIFTS - RECIPIENTS VERY GLAD TO RECEIVE IT. Growing up in a close-knit, Italian American family, Maria Bruscino Sanchez was surrounded by tradition: food, customs, and celebrations from the "old country" were lovingly observed, and if the original meaning was sometimes hidden beneath the patina of a new culture, the respect and desire to stay connected to the past remained. As an adult, Sanchez turned family tradition into her livelihood, opening Sweet Maria's bakery in Waterbury, Connecticut, where she re-created the cakes and cookies of her youth--but with a distinctly American twist. WithSweet Maria's Italian Cookie Tray, Sanchez offers her culinary treasures to an even wider audience; recipes range from drop and molded cookies to filled ones, biscotti and biscuits, taralle and pizelles, and many more. Cookie lovers will find plenty to devour in this compilation of Italian American favorites. Sweet Maria's Italian Cookie Traypresents sixty-five recipes for the delicious, festive cookies that brighten every Italian home, at the holidays and all year-round. Maria Bruscino Sanchez opened Sweet Maria's bakery when she was just twenty-six years old, specializing in authentic Italian cookies and cakes made from handed-down family recipes. The result has been a booming business, and this very special cookbook. The irresistible reciples range from drop, molded and filled cookies; biscotti; taralle and biscuits; pizelles, and more. Easy to prepare and perfect for any occasion (or no occasion at all) they include:
Chocolate Almond Macaroons, Pignoli Nut Cookies, Amaretto Biscotti Sesame Cookies, Almond Crescents, Lemon Drop Cookies, Chocolate Puffs, Florentines, Lady Fingers, Sweet Ravioli Cookies, Christmas Honey Clusters, Angel Wings, Cinnamon Nut Bars, and more.
Whether you grew up in an Italian home or just wish you did, this wonderful collection is sure to become a cookie lover's favorite--one you will return to again and again.

Usually ships in 24 hours customer 's review (Picture is not an accurate portrayal of appearance) The picture gives the appearance of a black band and a brownish/bronze plastic face. In fact the band is metallic goldish and the face is gold colored metal. It looks more "blinged" out than I expected. I feel like I have a pimp watch. The features and display are fine, it just doesn't look the way I thought it would. With its copper-colored bezel and eye-catching black stud accents, the Sweet Poison Dance Watch #BG2100-8 from Casio's shock-resistant Baby-G Collection has a cool, contemporary look that complements its sleek digital display. This head-turning accessory does more than simply tell time: it amps up your wardrobe, while providing a host of innovative features at your fingertips. An EL backlight with afterglow makes it easy to read the time, even in dim conditions, while a daily alarm, countdown timer, and hourly time signal, and auto calendar pre-programmed until the year 2099 keep you organized. Want to personalize the display? It's easy--simple choose between five display formats and four time display formats. Water resistant to 330 feet, with a battery life of approximately two years, this Casio original is both stunning and reliable. This watch is protected by a one-year manufacturer's warranty.
