I still keep the old blue and red sets from 3 years back and love them. They're all still very convenient for baking, except that these pastel ones get food stains (I bake carrot and also banana muffins in them), are a wee bit lighter, and tear easier than the ones that are red and blue. Though I do like that these new ones now have the 3/4 line from the inside to tell you where to fill up. The regular ones I got three years ago did not have these, though the mini-muffin cups which I got at the same time did, too. I see though, that both the regular and mini-muffin ones I got from 3 years back are sturdier in construction. Go for the non-pastel set anytime.
It's also easier to clean them by using a water-soap moistened cleaning cloth, then just wipe them up. This totally removes all the baking bits. If you're concerned with soapy residue, just rinse in water after this, and you're good to go. Hope this helps!』
(More Sturdy than Miu Silicone Baking Cups...) 『Last year, I reviewed Miu's Silicone Cupcake Baking Cups and rated those as a five star product. I stand by that review, but feel that Wilton's Silicone Baking Cups are equally as good. As previously stated, I bake fat-free breakfast muffins on a regular basis; they stick to paper cupcake papers so that one loses half a muffin to the paper. My daughter wanted to start using silicone baking cups for her breakfast muffins, but we were unable to find Miu again.
I found the Wilton baking cups to be thicker and even more sturdy than Miu; they are not nearly as flexible. There is little chance of the baking cups spreading from the weight of cupcake or muffin batter. This is particularly helpful if one must sit the cups on a cookie sheet to bake or if one is not using a deep silicone pan to hold the cups and batter for baking. The fill line is particularly nice when baking cupcakes as it allows one to put an equal amount of batter in each cup so that baking time does not vary within a batch of cupcakes/muffins.
There are several ways to address the other reviewers' issues with these silicone baking cups. I freeze my breakfast muffins and have found that if I allow my muffins to sit out for about 5 minutes and then carefully peel off the silicone baking cup, there is little to no baked good sticking to the cup. If some does stick, I simply fill the cup with water and allow it to sit for awhile before hand washing the cup. As for accidentally throwing out these silicone cups, I remove them just before serving cupcakes or muffins to guests. Since there are little to no crumbs sticking to the cup, the treat is not damaged by doing this and my silicone baking cups are safe from being accidentally discarded.
We were able to find Wilton Baking Cups at the big home store where they sold for $7.99 for 12; by using a $5 off $15 purchase coupon, and stacking the 10% off coupon on one item, my daughter was able to reduce her total cost for two sets to around $10.』
(Pretty but Hard to clean) 『these silicon cups come in 4 pastel colors: blue, pink, yellow and green. they look pretty but they are hard to clean, even if you put it in the dishwasher little tiny bits are left in the folds. also when you serve it to people you gotta make sure they don't accidentally throw it in the garbage or loose them.
i personally like the paper cups better, use 'em and toss 'em.
MiMi x)』
(Good gifts, a little small) 『Does cut down on the mess of clean up - can be cleaned in the dishwasher. Small line in the silicone on the inside shows suggested fill point. If used on insulated cookie sheets, the inside ones could take longer to cook than others. Stores easily, always on hand (don't have to go buy paper/foil). If you bake cupcakes all of the time - a cupcake pan(s) may be better but for occasional use, these save space over the pan(s), and can be easier to clean.』 『Isn't it irritating when half your muffin or cupcake sticks to the paper baking cup and you are left trying to scrape the last bits off with your teeth without eating the paper as well? Here is the solution. Muffins and cupcakes will bake evenly with a moist, light texture in these silicone baking cups. And the muffin will not stick to the cup once baked, allowing the cups to be slipped right off. Reusable hundreds of times. Pack of 12 Size: Standard Color/Pattern: 3 blue, 3 green, 3 pink, and 3 yellow Materials: Silicone Care: Dishwasher safe』

Sarah seemed to flounder through the songs (which were mostly vague and nondefinative). Her voice is beautiful, liquid and melodic but not very strong. To be honest, I didn't really listen to the whole album until several months after purchasing it. But when I did I found some gems. As is usually the case with any media (music, books, movies) the more you listen (or read or watch) the more you understand it and gradually begin to love it. Some of the songs began to stand out to me; among them Fallen, which was just a little too melodramatic and despairing for me; Stupid, with its slamming wall of guitars and ominous strings at the chorus; and epecially Answer, which soon became my favorite track and is actually fast becoming one of the most played songs on my ipod as I wake up to its peaceful, mellow piano and Sarah's silky voice every morning. Altogether not a bad experience from Sarah and I will go on to buy more of her albums, but I wasn't blown away with this one. Even though I haven't really heard much else from her, I got the impression that she wasn't being herself, that she was experimenting and it didn't gel with her identity as an artist or as a person.』
(Every Song A Winner) 『One of those rare albums where every song is good. "Push", for me, shines most brightly, a tear-jerking, deeply felt recognition of another's best qualities. "Time" also has a hook that you can't stop singing, and lyrics that keep running through your head. Keep it up, Sarah! This may be your best one yet.』
(Great music but Enhanced CD's are not that great) 『I feel that this is one of Sarah McLachlan's finest CD's, I love the music but one thing I do not like about it is the "enhanced CD" format. While the value added items of an "enhanced CD" may be important to some people I found it to be a pain. I was forced to Rip the songs, losing quality in the process, to another format to save them to my computer so that I could use the CD in my car. I wish this album had been released in both the enhanced and the regular format. I gave it five stars because of the incredible songs on the album. If I were asked about the "enhanced CD" experience I would have only given it a rating of two stars.』
(Different but excellent) 『It took quite a few listens for me to like it when I first bought it. I was initially disappointed but grew to love it even more than the others. Now, years later, it's my favorite. I'm older now and it strikes more of a chord with me. Who knows, maturity? Great!』
(if we own this...) 『I have never heard it played and am thankful, spay and neuter your pets please.』 『Is Sarah McLachlan a secret punk rocker? To be sure, her rebellion is hushed. OnAfterglow, her first studio album since 1997'sSurfacing, McLachlan's music is as tempered as ever; at times even the piano chords at the heart of the sound are tucked neatly beneath layer upon layer of strings and overdubbed voices. Listen to what's being sung within this soothing aural bed, though, and hear the just-before-sleep murmurings of the quietest riot grrl: "I'm a train wreck waiting to happen.... a wildfire born of frustration," "How stupid could I be.... you're no good for me, but you're the only one I see," "I have to push just to see how far you'll go." The latter song ("Push") resolves itself with the assurance, "You complete me." Ultimately, McLachlan fans will be comforted again by what turns out to be her reliably untroubled aesthetic.--Rickey Wright』 『"Afterglow" features all new songs including: "Fallen", "Stupid", "World on Fire", "Drifting", "Answer", "Trainwreck", "Perfect Girl", "Time", and "Push".』 『Limited edition reissue of the singer/songwriter's hot 2003 album includes a bonus live EP with four tracks, 'Fallen', 'Answer', 'Dirty Little Secret',&'Building A Mystery'. (Dead Sound) 『I'm very disappointed in this CD. The only high quality thing about it is its selection -great tunes!
The problem is with the sound quality. The tunes all sound as if they are being played at the bottom of a deep well. Muffled! I have a $5500 sound system, but it sounds like I'm listening to a $20 bargain radio when I play this CD.
I bought this CD because other reviewers had given it an average score of 4.5 out of 5. With such a high score, I'd hoped that this recording producer had used modern technology to make those wonderful swing tunes come alive. Nope. Exhumed from the grave, but still dead.
Add to that, there isn't a scintilla of stereo separation. The entire swing band got stuffed together into that same (single) deep well. Arrrrrgh! I know I've heard these tunes played in full, rich, stereophonic glory on radios before, so great recordings are out there somewhere.
I truly love these old swing tunes! They're amazing works of musical genius that deserve to be heard like they're being played in front of you. Thus, I will keep on searching for a CD that has modern sound production. Anyone know of any such CDs out there? I don't care whether or not the tunes are played by Benny Goodman or Tommy Dorsey themselves, I just want a high quality production of the music.』
(swing, swing, swing !!!) 『The Fabulous Swing Collection is one of the better single CD compilations we have of great swing music that took the country by storm in the 1930s and 1940s. This music still sounds great today; and many people have fond memories of the times they danced to these tunes when they were often performed live in dance halls and nightclubs. The quality of the sound is really rather good and I like the artwork.
Benny Goodman&His Orchestra open things up with a great rendition of "Don't Be That Way (Take 1)." The horn works very well for this number and Benny's band never lets us down! They do this flawlessly; and it sounds great even today. Glenn Miller&His Orchestra follow with their smash hit entitled "In the Mood." "In the Mood" is a number people remember well; this got lots of air play and many people danced to it back in the day. Similarly, "Opus One" by Tommy Dorsey&His Orchestra never disappoints; "Opus One" is a peppy little number that packs a huge, unforgettable punch and I always like hearing "Opus One."
Glen Gray&His Orchestra (with whom I'm less familiar) also make good with their hit, "Casa Loma Stomp." "Casa Loma Stomp" has a great beat and they never play a superfluous note! Great! Of course, we can't have a swing CD without the great Duke Ellington and his buddies doing their wonderful "Take the `A' Train;" "Take the `A' Train" hit the clubs big time and when you hear it you'll instantly know why. A personal favorite of mine is "Minnie the Moocher" by the incomparable Cab Calloway&His Cotton Club Orchestra; Cab Calloway could really swing and that Cotton Club was all the better off for it!
Listen also for "Back Bay Shuffle" by Artie Shaw&His Orchestra; Artie Shaw instinctively knew how to make great music and "Back Bay Shuffle" showcases his talents nicely. There's even a special number from Glenn Miller again when he and his buddies play "A String Of Pearls." "A String Of Pearls" sounds like pearls should sound--and that's quite all right by me. "Swingin' Uptown" by Jimmie Lunceford&His Orchestra is great; but they could have omitted "Mary Had a Little Lamb" by Fletcher Henderson&His Orchestra. Oh, well--no CD is perfect.
The CD ends very nicely. We get two solid numbers, "Flyin' Home" performed by Charlie Barnet&His Orchestra and then "Sing, Sing, Sing (With A Swing) (Parts 1&2)" by Benny Goodman&His Orchestra. "Sing, Sing, Sing (With A Swing) (Parts 1&2)" is classic swing music at its very apex and I think you'll like it very much if you haven't heard this one before.
This album is a great starter CD for people just getting into swing music; and it makes an affordable single CD swing music compilation, too. If you like this you should consider other CDs of swing music available for sale on this website. 』
(Nice, lively musi) 『I was looking for some lively swing music, and this fits the bill exactly. I only wish there were hours more of it!』
(An Enduring Winner) 『When this first came out over a decade ago from RCA Victor/BMG it was an instant winner among those Big Band fans starving for some CD material presenting the music of that era in quality AAD sound. Unlike many releases at that time, it even has three paragraphs in the insert describing the usual reception for these renowned groups when their buses rolled into town, along with a re-listing of the generous (for the time) 19 tracks showing recording dates and locations.
With so much to choose from in terms of material, I have to agree with those who assigned 5 stars to the tracks presented here, each in its own way representative of the music so popular from 1933 to 1940 (the span covered here). And yes, even to the inclusion of Fletcher Henderson's Mary Had A Little Lamb, a 1936 recording featuring a brief vocal by Teddy Lewis, but some of the best instrumental solos ever put to disc. Really, the title and the lyrics are incidental.
The same reviewer who lamented that selection, also had disparaging remarks for the "whitebread" Casa Loma Stomp, only the first of 64 hits for Glen Gray&His Casa Loma Orchestra (named after a famed Toronto nightclub which the band called home for a spell) which hit # 15 in January 1931 (this is a 1933 re-recording), as well as Bunny Berigan's rendition of All God's Chillun Got Rhythm (with vocal by Ruth Bradley). Yes, trying to do that in today's society would go over like a lead balloon - but this was 1937 and that year both Duke Ellington (# 14 instrumental) and Artie Shaw (# 15 with vocal by Tony Pastor) had hits with it.
Their inclusion in this historical volume is just fine, thank you very much. As the blurb says on the reverse "Foot-tappin' favorites&jumpin' jitterbugs from the Fabulous Swing Era! Over 64 minutes of the swingin'est singles ever!" And at a pretty decent price I might add.』

One great music selection..some songs make you laff, some hit home and a tear forms...』
(Long time favorite) 『John Prime has some very funny and endearing music on this classic CD. I had the album for years and was very happy to get it on CD.』
(The Master Lyricist) 『No one else creates lyrics like John Prine, and nowhere else is his lyrical prowess more on display than on this album. I mean come on: "Naked as the eyes of a clown"? Who else but John Prine could twist up a line like that? I think this his is finest collection of lyrical masters, unless you want to purchase the anthologyGreat Days: The John Prine Anthology.』
(Rehash, but classic stuff) 『John Prine is an American Classic who should be praised as much as Dylan. This album is a good 'sampler' of some earlier and later stuff. It's 'repackaging' at its best. My advice, get the 2-CD "Greatest Hits" from Amazon!』
(If you only own one Prine CD......) 『When I think of John Prine's early work, one word always seems to come to mind: "wry"..... as in possessing a dry wit and ironic sense of humor. Sort of like, if Andy Rooney was young, with dark facial hair, and could sing and play and write music...oh forget it. The pose of relaxed defiance on the cover pretty much tells the story. I'm a rebel but I first have to get just a little more worked up about this so I can climb out of this car. "Dear Abby" may be the pinnacle of this wit; in John's songview, the solution is always the same whatever the malady of the forelorn advice seeker. "Sweet Revenge" is also full of tuneful material rich in "hooks." Heck, we even get a touching ballad; "Blue Umbrella." And we get an unforgettable Christmas song, a lively ode to ancestry in "Grandpa Was a Carpenter," more wryness in "Often is a Word I Seldom Use," and so on. John has mellowed much these days. If you want a good dose of his earlier more cantankerous days, this is as good a place to start as any. Many songs that will cling to your memory for quite a long time.』 『No Description Available No Track Information Available Media Type:CD Artist:PRINE,JOHN Title:SWEET REVENGE Street Release Date:02/06/1990 Domestic Genre:ROCK/POP』 『For his third album, John Prine returned to the fuller sound of his landmark debut while venturing into increasingly cryptic lyrical terrain. Songs such as "Mexican Home," "Accident (Things Could Be Worse)," and "Blue Umbrella" are open-to-interpretation explorations that reveal the songsmith's intrepid reflections; they're also among the 12-song set's best numbers. "Dear Abby" is a comical novelty number while "Christmas in Prison" is a doleful in-the-clink carol. The openhearted "A Good Time" slipped into the shadows afterSweet Revenge(like Prine's other Atlantic albums) failed to hit commercial paydirt, but it's as touching as anything Prine has penned. This outing isn't as musically distinctive as Prine's other albums from his early period, but as collections of songs go, it's first-rate.--Steven Stolder』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (BitterSweet on VHS) 『Item was just as described....brand new, sealed. The gift recipient loves it. Quick ship too. Thank you.』
(Mediocre Eddy/MacDonald Fare) 『The wonderful voices of and personal chemistry between Nelson Eddy and Jeanette MacDonald always makes a movie worthwhile.
The story revolves around Sarah Millick (Jeanette), a young English woman who on the eve of her arranged wedding, abandons her wealth&social position to elope with Karl Linden (Nelson), her Viennese music instructor and a struggling composer.
Living on love alone proves a challenge to the couple and provides both the humor and the tragedy of the story. Bitter Sweet provides several fine songs for both singers and they make the most of them. However, the script is weak and the unsatisfactory ending, which includes the shortest duel in history, spoils the enjoyment of the rest of the movie and leaves the viewer with a feeling of emptiness.
If you are a fan of Nelson and Jeanette, don't pass on this one, but you'll find the story isn't up to their talents.
』
(Not as good as their other movies....but) 『Jeanette and Nelson movies succeeded more when done in black and white, and especially where Nelson was the hero and Jeanette the kind of damsell in distress..but there was always adventure...great sets and great singing... In Bittersweet, Nelson does'nt look like himself compared to other films, maybe his health was not the best ... i even remember this film from my youth and even then i knew that this one was not like the others. Hey, Nelson and Jeanette only made 8 films together ...so Bittersweet for all fans is also a must see and a keeper for the collection.』
(A TEPID, MEDIOCRE FILM...) 『This movie, while cinematically colorful, is a mediocre offering by the usually radiant singing duo, Nelson Eddy and Jeanette MacDonald. Here, Ms. MacDonald plays the role of Sarah, a Victorian era, young Englishwoman who is about to enter into an arranged marriage with Harry, a stuffy Englishman. Sarah also has a voice teacher named Karl (Nelson Eddy) with whom she makes beautiful music and falls in love. On practically the eve of her wedding, she and Karl declare themselves to each other and run away together to his native Vienna after getting hitched.
There, she lives the impoverished life of a young wife happily married to a struggling composer, as Karl finishes writing his cherished operetta. While in Vienna, Sari, as Sarah is now called, makes the acquaintance of two individuals who are to have a great impact on her life, a rakish Baron and member of the Austrian Emperor's dashing Hussars (George Sanders) and a simpatico English Lord (Ian Hunter). Unfortunately, the Baron ultimately tries to seduce the unwilling Sari with catastrophic results.
This film was understandably a flop, as it pales alongside this singing duo's other cinematic pairings. Jeanette MacDonald is radiant as always, but as she was nearly forty years old at the time, it is difficult to believe her in the role of a young woman in her late teens. Nelson Eddy played the role of Karl as it he were in a state of near catatonic shock. It is hard to believe how he could sweep any woman off her feet, much less anyone as vivacious as Sarah. In fact, the acting in his death scene was little different from that when playing the living Karl in love with the woman his dreams.
George Sanders, however, is excellent as the scheming, villainous Baron, and Ian Hunter is charming in the role of the English Lord. Still, these two performances alone could not save a film that was doomed from the beginning by a weak screenplay, third rate music, and uneven performances. In fact, one of the scenes was downright embarrassing, with Jeanette MacDonald singing a dreadful song with a bizarre French accent. Moreover, the death scene was over in the blink of an eye, as if Nelson Eddy could not disappear from this film quickly enough. It was quite bizarre and totally lacking tension or cinematic fire. It was totally anti-climactic.
This film was apparently based upon a Noel Coward operetta. Until I saw this film, I had no idea Noel Coward was a composer. Now I know why I had never heard of his music, if this is an example of it. Still, those who are fans of Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy will find some redeeming value in this sentimental mish-mosh. If, however, you are not a fan of theirs, deduct one star from my rating.』
(The Title Says It All:"Bitter Sweet") 『"Bittersweet"is NOT a favourite of mine... hard to say whether it or"I Married an Angel"is my least favourite J/N flick. Still, due to Nelson's presence, it is somewhat bearable. I really adore both Nelson and Jeanette, don't get me wrong. What I really didn't like was the fact that the entire thing seemed tossed together without much thought or plan for a plot. Like what point did that Tokay scene make?? I mean, it was adorable to see him bouncing Jeanette on that table, but usually the songs and scenes in their films serve some purpose. The storyline in general is just rather obscure.
Jeanette's gowns I found a bit much - it seems Adrian must have been in a wild mood a couple times... some were okay: I really liked the blue one she wore at the beginning and the satin ones she wore at Schlick's. The apricot one at the last café scene was the best! The purple one in the Tokay scene drew all attention away from anything else in the scene and drives my eyes buggy with those perfectly matched, zig-zagging stripes. Good for a laugh only.
I loved Hawwy and Jane. Even though they were both despicable.
I thought the scene where Jeanette breaks down trying to sing that song for Herr Wyler was very touching.
And I love the part where Nelson's two friends start pulling out the pawn tickets. The look on his face when they said,"That's for the bed,"was hilarious. And Jeanette,"Oh, Carl, it's just the bed!"Men and their strange values.
And of course the scene when he carried her upstairs was darling. I laughed so hard the first time I saw him toss her over his shoulder and cart her the rest of the way up.
I too hate that Nelson has to die... they adored each other so much... and it WAS too abrupt. Somehow though I start laughing, because I think of one website where a lady put a picture of Nelson in Jeanette's arms in the death scene, with the caption,"Carl! How many times have I told you to stay away from sharp objects??!?"(Of course, she meant it as a joke.) Honestly though I hate that he dies. It's despicable. George Sanders is despicable. Despicable is my current buzzword.
This movie overall is NOT despicable, simply not Jeanette and Nelson's best example of collaboration. If you are new to Nelson and Jeanette, I would recommend"New Moon"or"Maytime"as good films to start with. Save this one for after you become a fan, so you can watch it with a little more sympathy and leniency than otherwise you would.』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (A fun romp, Lemmon is outstanding) 『Jack Lemmon brings so much energy and conviction to the screen that he makes it a 5-star movie. Not Simon's best joke writing, but he is rather ingenious in the non-stop travails that befall this hapless couple. The running gag of taking names may wear on some viewers, but I had to laugh each time at Lemmon's neurotic ranting and bluffing. Early 70s N.Y. is a far cry from the extravaganza it is today, and one scoffs at the "great depression ii" malarky dished out last year, we have it pretty well. To get back on point, Lemmon once again gives a masterful performance that takes no prisoners... even though he nearly lands himself in jail!! Go go go baby!!』
(A classic) 『I watched this movie with my dad when I was little. My dad has passed away and watching it again I remember how much we laughed together. I am glad I was able to find it. It is a very funny movie』
(Should have closed out of town) 『This is one of those movies that apparently nobody has a neutral opinion on. It's either a cinematic masterpiece or a turkey. I gravitate toward the second opinion.
The story, as such, concerns a couple who arrive in New York and have everything possible go wrong. It could have been funny, but Jack Lemmon- who I usually like- misses totally. Instead of being a sympathetic character, his constant bitching and whining about every misfortune becomes irritating, and eventually you don't care if anything happens to him. You almost want someone to finish him off and end the movie.
Sandy Dennis, who I always considered to be an adequate- not great- actress, actually hits the marks better, and her character is much more likeable.
Beware. Rent this one before you buy it. 』
(HILARIOUS!!!) 『I couldn't quit laughing through the whole movie. The actors were great and the plot was hilarious!』
(never got the dvd to review) 『never recieved the dvd. seller dvdlegace never replied just took the money and ran』 『Arthur Hiller (Love Story) directed the film adaptation of Neil Simon's curious comedy about a pair of non-New Yorkers (Jack Lemmon and Sandy Dennis) having a hellish visit to the Big Apple on the eve of a job interview for Lemmon's character. Made in 1970, this hectic film almost seems ahead of its time when compared to more recent misery-piled-on-misery comedies such asPlanes, Trains, and Automobiles. The couple in this film endure everything that can go wrong on a trip, including being forced to spend the night in a mugger-happy Central Park. The strange element in Simon's script, though, is that Lemmon's character is so unpleasant. A middle-class, uptight guy who can't believe that New Yorkers in the service profession don't perform their jobs slavishly, he's kind of a one-note joke that quickly wears thin. Remade with Steve Martin and Goldie Hawn.--Tom Keogh』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Triple the Richard Pryor....what a Deal !) 『Richard Pryor is at the top of his game in the 1970's flick. At the time I remember it being a minor hit and seeing it in the movie theatre with a group of friends. Between the social commentary (that is still relevant today) we laughed our heads off.
His main character is a hard working but down on his luck picker who ends up on the wrong side of the bosses running the produce conclomerate when he accidentally ends up connected to a Cesar Chevez-esque labor mvoement leader.
Exiled to LA his labor and lady problems appear to get better but unravel in the end with both comedic and sober results. He also plays the philandering preacher and his own grandfather, both of which are amazing and hilarious to watch.
This movie will show you why Richard was so great and why performers like Robin Willaims, Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall call him the "King" and pay hommage to him in their own movies.
Go For It.....FIVE STARS』
(That negro's awesome!) 『The late great Richard Pryor delivers a usual awesome performance in the 1977 comedy about a troubled man regarding sex and politics. Not only that,he plays multiple roles,as substantiated by the cover photo. I remember seeing this movie when I had Wometco Home Theatre in the late 70's. Years later,I caught this movie on Comedy Central, with the profanities muted,of course. I dedicate this film, with his others,to the memory of Peoria,Illinois-born Pryor(December 1,1940-December 10,2005).』

I love all the actors in the movie』 『This 1977 American variation on Lina Wertmuller'sThe Seduction of Mimi, the story of a stupid man's troubles in sex and politics, is a run-of-the-mill Richard Pryor vehicle. Noteworthy only for its casting of two good actresses, Lonette McKee and Margaret Avery, and Pryor's multiple roles as an orange picker, a lecherous old man, and a minister, the film is made without a lot of care or effort to rise to Wertmuller's satiric accomplishment.--Tom Keogh』

(Settled into a formula) 『After watching season one as a group, season two seemed overproduced and formulaic. Pierce Brosnan became a star in the first season, so the show revolved around him in the second. Fox and Murphy hated Remington Steele, but they are replaced by Doris Roberts, whose fawning made me want to puke by the middle of the season.
Doris herself is awesome, but the writing is predictable, every episode is rammed full of stunts, and Remington and Laura bicker so constantly about being dissatisfied with each other that they started to remind me of car rides with my grandparents. Then they kiss. It's really stupid.
The same supporting characters started showing up again and again as different people and Laura got a loft replacing the house because lofts are "cool". (Did they pick up a producer from The Love Boat or something?)
Laura is no longer independent and in control. Instead they write her as needy and sulky. That blows most of all. The pilot concept was based on a woman making her way in a man's world and Stephanie was perfect for that part, but the second season did to her exactly what Laura was fighting in the original concept.
Even the opening changes to self-referential Hollywood weirdness. If the actors weren't so great, I would have hated the second season.』
(Best season of all!) 『This has got to be the best and most romantic season of all. Murphy (James Read) is out (whom I miss because, well, why settle for one handsome actor when you can feast your eyes on two?). This leaves the field wide open for Steele and Laura to explore their relationship deeper. Some very entertaining episodes, such as High Flying Steele, that show the true depth of the two actors' skills.』
(Entertaining enough.) 『Though not to say that this season wasn't any good, I have to say I prefer Season 1 to this. There's more romantic tension. It's just that I think the producers put them together too soon in Season 2 - they're always smooching. I'm watching season 3 now, it seems to be better.
Don't be turned off by my comments though, there are some really great plots and scenes too in this season. That's why I'm giving it a four star.』
(Heavenly Steele) 『This is the best TV show ever in the 80s. I grew up watching Remington Steele during my teenage years. It's got perfect mix of suspense, romance and humor. The attraction and chemistry between Laura&Steele are just like essential spices to the plot. She is captivating, mesmerizing, while he is so charming every woman can die for. It is no surprise that he then became James Bond. And oh, the background music/songs by Henry Mancini are just wonderful. Now we can not find similar shows on TV anymore, well, as the other viewer wrote, this series ages well. My favorites episodes of Remington Steele are quite a number I can't name them all. Thanks to the producer for making this tv show available in DVD format. And next, I'm going to buy the book : Steele loved after all this year. Hey, If I ever got power failure at home&can't watch the video, I'll have the book in my hand with a cup of tea and enjoy !』 『ForSteele's sophomore year, Murphy and Bernice are out and Mildred Krebs (Emmy-magnet Doris Roberts) is in. She gets pulled into the orbit of private investigators Laura Holt (Stephanie Zimbalist) and Remington Steele (Pierce Brosnan) when she audits their agency in the two-part season opener ("Steele Away With Me"). Krebs follows the duo to Acapulco, where she helps with a case, and ends up abandoning the IRS for the more glamorous world of detective work. Other changes include a revamped title sequence and a new loft for Holt when a failed assassination attempt results in the destruction of her home ("Red Holt Steele").
While Krebs represents a welcome addition, wily quick change artist Major Descoine (Guy Boyd), who is introduced a few episodes later ("Steele Framed"), is another matter. He'll get away the first time only to return towards the end of the season ("Elegy in Steele") to bedevil Holt and Steele again (much like the slippery Murdoc in producer Lee David Zlotoff'sMacGyver). As usual, Steele continues to derive mystery-solving inspiration from cinema classics likeCasablanca("Red Holt Steele") andThe Man Who Knew Too Much("Steele Sweet on You"). Romance between the two continues, as well, but the detectives are too professional to rush anything.
The second season also provides Holt with more clues about Steele's mysterious past, like his stints as "The Kilkenny Kid" ("Steele Knuckles and Glass Jaws") and "The Great Savini" ("High Flying Steele"). As for Steele, he gains a slick new means of transportation: a 1936 Auburn Speedster ("Love Among the Steele"). Guest stars include future primetime staples Delta Burke and Jane Kaczmarek ("Altared Steele"), Jeffrey "Principal Rooney" Jones ("A Steele at Any Price"), and (briefly) Miguel Sandoval ("Steele Eligible"), who will go on to work with writer/producer Glenn Gordon Caron (Moonlighting) onMedium.--Kathleen C. Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (A stunning re-telling without the Hollywood involvement) 『As someone who has read the play of Macbeth several times over the years, I appreciated it for it's work of art, but I must admit I always found it a little difficult to follow. Even though Macbeth is by far the easiest of the bard's plays to understand. But, after stumbling across this Geoffrey Wright gem, I finally get it! Now, I always knew the premise of the story, but I always found myself confused by the dialect, a 21st century girl lost in 17th century linguistics. Even with this film using Shakespeare's words (Aussie accents included), I completely understood everything being said and what Shakespeare meant by saying it.
Set in the underbelly of gangland Melbourne, you are introduced to Macbeth, played superbly by Sam Worthington, a cold-hearted sociopath on a quest for power and leadership among the cartel led by Duncan (Gary Sweet). By the enticing hallucinations of the three witches (no longer hags, but schoolgirls) and the encouragement of his drug addled Lady Macbeth (Victoria Hill), Macbeth's quest for control within the family is a violent path of destruction that ultimately spirals into madness, revenge and death.
By far, this is the best modernization of a Shakesperian play. I was not a fan of Baz Luhrmann's Romeo&Juliet, nor Hamlet. The Hollywood, big budget spectacle never really did it for me. This film, however, left me thunderstruck. The acting was stellar, the cinematography was gritty, and the score was first rate. My only wish, was that it was longer. But I will stress that this is definitely not something to be viewed in a high school setting because of the drug use, explicit sexuality and extreme violence. But, for anyone who appreciates the foreign, independent film genre, this is definitely something worth adding to your collection.』
(NOT FOR HIGH SCHOOL ENGLISH CLASS) 『Initially, I thought it did a great job of using modern-day with Shakespearean language. I watched closely for the first witch scene, which was not bad. I did not watch the movie in its entirety. Needless to say, there were racy- triple (xxx) rated scenes. Not even appropriate for a College class!!!』
(Good version...not for classroom) 『Pretty good modern version. I was confused at the beginning and it took a little while to get the characters straight. The nudity excludes any use in the classroom at any level of high school.』
(Something Ho-Hum This Way Comes.....) 『WARNING
******************* THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS ****************
I like "Macbeth" the best of Shakespeare's plays, partially because at least I can understand it. I'm college educated but not an academic, and unfortunately, with Shakespeare I usually only get about half of what's being said. (I'm sorry; I'm not so up on my 17th Century allusions.) But the play "Macbeth" is swift, clear, comparatively short, and the piece's themes are within grasp. Also, if properly done, its scary...which is involving.
I like when Shakespeare's plays are transported into non-traditional settings...THAT WORK. Moving this particular play to a modern-day, drug cartel environment -- as this version does -- doesn't quite snap into place, however.
The main problem with this adaptation is its actors, all of who, I am sure, have been or will be effective in other roles. But if this play is about Macbeth, then it seems to me you should have a very strong personality playing that role. Sam Worthington is handsome-ish, which is always nice, but seems too placid and withdrawn. Even if this king needs prodding from his wife to seize the day, he's still supposed to be a hungry and driven type. Worthington is neither of those things. The characterization of Lady M laid out here doesn't serve Victoria Hill any better. First she's shown weeping at her dead son's grave, which is an interesting touch...but then how does that merge with her later (famous) claim that she's sooner dash that baby's brains out than break a promise to her husband? There is simply no dynamic between this couple that conveys a deep partnership or shared destiny. Or even a mutual, morbid greed.
Just about the only addition to this version I liked was that King Duncan is put up in a separate guest house on the Macbeth's property when he visits, which allows for some sneaking around in the dark, and explains why the other guests don't hear anything. But in an example of how this setting doesn't serve the text, since everyone else is killed with guns, why would Macbeth and his wife choose to stab their guest to death??? It just seems awkward. (And why does everyone think it's natural for Banquo's sons to turn into a long line of drug "kings"; aren't most cartels wiped out before they become multi-generational?) Similarly, how can Macbeth repeatedly call the three witches "hags" when they're nubile centerfolds rolling around in bed with him? And how did all the gross ingredients get into Macbeth's kitchen for the "Double double / Toil and trouble" scene? It makes more sense if Macbeth travels to meet them on their own turf for that, as originally written. (There's also something more sinister and isolated about his having to travel into an otherworldly wasteland to see them.)
The final problem (which also crops up in Roman Polanski's FAR FAR superior version) is that many of the monologues are superimposed in voice-over while we watch closeups of the actors. There's something transporting and glorious about watching really well-trained actors dive into these speeches...but to watch a solemn face as the lines are recited on a separate track? Why bother?』
(Not bad) 『Bought this DVD purely after seeing Sam Wortington in Terminator: Salvation While this is nothing great It was entertaining enough and of course Sam W has charisma to spare and he does carry the movie. The movie was a tad pretentious sometimes (eh the slowmo climatic gunfight) and the production wasn't that great but still not bad. The dialogue was a bit hard to follow sometimes as it's Shakespear and there are no subtitles! I found the changing of the 3 witches into young school girls a bit weird though』 『Studio: Starz/sphe Release Date: 10/07/2008 Run time: 110 minutes』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Sweet November) 『Each month free-spirited Sara Deever starts a new relationship. Her task is to take a month to make one man become a better person, and then she moves on. When November rolls around and Sara targets the busy tycoon, Nelson Moss, she does not plan on falling in love. But they do, and as a result, Nelson learns the painful secret behind the brevity of Sara's romances. This movie is extremely original and creative from start to finish. Keaunu Reeves and Charlize Theron have excellent chemistry and work extremely well together. I enjoyed this movie and I highly recommend it.』
(Romantic Love!!!) 『Probably one of the sweetest and saddest love stories I have seen in a long time. Loved watching it 4 times. Will watch 4 more. You will laugh and cry.』
(My favorite movie) 『This movie is my favorite. Im a romantic person and this movie makes me cry every time. I ordered it but haven't received it yet. I have seen in the past many many times.』
(So San Francisco) 『This is not just about two people in love, it is about San Francisco at its best. It is about making the most of every day. So what if it is a little too "chickflicky". Way to go, Charlize!』
(Sweet November) 『Movie is very entertaining and touching. Keanu Reeves and Charlize Theron are very good in their roles.』 『The 1968 version ofSweet Novemberwas a frothy fable that worked, for the most part, due to the charmingly offbeat chemistry of costars Sandy Dennis and Anthony Newley. For this turn-of-the-millennium remake, Keanu Reeves and Charlize Theron do their best to ground the fable in a more sophisticated reality, but that's just what this moviedoesn'tneed. The premise is preposterous to begin with, so we need credible fantasy to leap over chasms of logic and ease into what should be a tear-jerking variation ofLove Story. It's certainly possible to get suckered into the movie's sticky-sweet romance, but you'll need extra effort to suspend your disbelief.
Theron is Sara, who pathologically lures men into romance for one month at a time, "helping" them before moving onto the next month's catch. She's avoiding long-term commitments because she's deathly ill--a fact revealed byhundredsof prescription bottles hidden in her medicine cabinet. Reeves is Nelson, the fast-lane advertising executive who reluctantly becomes Sara's Mr. November. He's insulting and callous until he learns the truth, at which point director Pat O'Connor makes a 180-degree tone shift that cannot possibly succeed. Theron makes the most of her movie-sickness routine, but Reeves is out of his depth, and not one buttworomantic montages (set to the music of Enya, no less) only emphasize the movie's abundant clichés (the most obvious beingThe Patriot's Jason Isaacs as Theron's supportive gay neighbor). Cry if you must, but don't let anyone catch you.--Jeff Shannon』

I have bought 100's of items from Amazon using their Prime membership and have only had a couple miss the shipping received date.
I noticed that this item was shipped via a company I had not seen before. After going to Amazon's "Where's Your Stuff..." link I saw the company listed as A-1 International. After the second day of the item not arriving I sent an email to Amazon. They shipped out another box overnight, no charge, and again I see the shipper is A-1 International. About 3:30pm in the afternoon the next day my box finally arrives via a rather interesting delivery vehicle, what appears to be a late model economy car.
I am a very big fan and user of the Prime membership but I am hoping that Amazon is not going to include substandard delivery service as a way to save on this plan.
I have ordered again 2 separate items with overnight, one shipped via UPS and 1 shipped by, used guessed it, A-1 International.. so far the UPS package was delivered at 10:20am this morning.. it's 3:35 now and I am not confident that I will get the A-1 package at all.
I wish there was a way to select your shipping company. There's a reason UPS and FedEX are the best! 』

He hardly ever brings homework home anymore, A honor roll, and his teacher has noticed a huge difference for the better. When I went for his teacher conference she said, "I have nothing to say to you other than he's doing great, keep doing whatever you're doing, he's got all A's." Since they do have stretch to them, I am going to order two more sets of gloves for both girls in the 0-3 size hoping that they will fit just a little more snug on both girls as I am using these gloves for everyday 24/7 wear to break bad habits (thumb sucking and nail biting) and would like them to be able to do every day tasks in them. (Not so great) 『"Santa" purchased for my 4 year old. It comes with a car, a doll, a hat, a cardboard suitcase and map. The hat does not fit the doll. (like not even close). put the suitcase, map and hat (that doesn't fit her head) in the car, and it is overloaded. it has seatbelts, but they are a huge struggle to fit over the doll. I get this is supposed to be simple toy, but it makes no sense the "accessories" don't work with it. try something else.』
(Fun but Cheaply Made) 『My daughter has fun with this toy. It's good for pretend play. The doll and car both smell nice.
But...
The doll is very small and the quality reminds me of something you'd get inside a McDonald's Happy Meal (or even worse as there are some Happy Meal toys that are made much better than this figurine). The size doesn't bother me because Strawberry has to fit in the very cheaply made, and also very small, car. The description says that the "Vehicle comes with Strawberry Shortcake figure, dress, hat, map and suitcase accessories". Well yes it does, but the map and suitcase accessories are all made of cardboard, and are really just trash, which we promptly discarded. The plastic hat doesn't fit well, and I had to force fit it on Strawberry's head. We got a great deal on it, but if I would have paid full price, I would have definitely returned it.
I wish the Strawberry Shortcake line made today were more like the Stawberry Shortcake line that I remember as a little girl.』
(More durable than I expected) 『When I received the new 2009 Hasbro SSC pieces, I was surprised at how durable they seem to be. The plastic is relatively heavy and the toys themselves are pretty substantial. I have high hopes that they should hold up well with play.』 『Hasbro Strawberry Shortcake Berry Sweet Roadster with DollShe might be tiny, but Strawberry Shortcake has a huge heart! Her friends love to gather at her Berry Café, where they can always count on her for a helping hand and some berry delicious treats. No wonder she’s everyone’s best friend in Berry Bitty City!Take your Strawberry Shortcake figure (included) on all kinds of delicious drives in this pretty oh-so-pink convertible car vehicle! First off, she gets it from my sister and that night we plan on making the stuff. Of course, we have no light bulb. We buy 40 watt light bulbs the next day only to discover they had to be special bulbs. So two days after she gets it, she's still super excited and we start to make candy. She fills in the molds and comments it was not as fun as she hoped, but she still pressed on with the oven. She watched as my husband and I put it in the oven. And we waited...and waited....and waited. Finally we moved on to play another game while we waited. The candy came out and she strung it on the string. Then she wanted to make more from the other mold, which we did, which again took nearly an hour. Major let down for her, and all of us.』
(candy maker) 『i dont know how she will like it when we got it it had no bulb in it and i can't find the right one to go in it. it kinda brought her christmas down.』
(Marketing Genius! - Create A Toy that Requires a Special Lightbulb and Don't Include the Lightbulb!!) 『As I write this review, I have a sorely disappointed 6 year old in the kitchen who is now packing up all those little sprinkle things because we can't use this toy without the bulb. What marketing genius!! Sell a toy without an essential component so every kid who tries to use it out of the box is disappointed and every parent is ticked off. I'm looking at the box right now...it says nowhere on it that a lightbulb is not included. On the side it says "Warning: Do not use light bulb larger than 40 watt". This warning would not necessarily indicate to me that the bulb is not included. My first thought reading that warning would be that if you were replacing the included bulb don't use a bulb larger than a 40 watt. Oh wait...just found it on the front...in VERY TINY LETTERS below the "WARNING: Adult Supervision Required"...it says "Requires one 40 watt small bulb". Crazy! I've been looking at this box for 10 minutes and I just now found it. VERY LAST Jakks Pacific toy I will ever buy!!!』
(Stupid Mom) 『OK, as if being a mother isn't difficult enough, I plugged this oven into three different outlets waiting for it to heat up. Just as other reviewers noted, I had NO IDEA it did not come with a bulb!!! Are you kidding me??? In teeny tiny print, on the bottom of a super busy box reads "requires one 40 watt small base candelabra blunt tip light bulb." Give me a break! I have drawers full of AA, AAA, C and even a couple of D batteries. But on Christmas Morning I was plum out 40 watt small base candelabra blunt tip bulbs. What a bummer for my girls!』
(Candy Jewel Factory Oven (please start including the lightbulb)) 『I think that the light bulbs should be included in these types of toys most people dont think to look and see if it is included which happened this christmas at our home and we did not have a lightbulb which would fit so my daughter was very disappointed because she had to wait until the store opened up the next day to play with her new toy.』 『Your child will love bedazzling themselves in edible jewels, or making unique "sweet" treats for their friends with the Candy Jewel Factory Oven. His leadership practices are pillars that support sustainable success in leaders. If you're wondering how to be an inspired leader in this sea change or perfect storm, read Wooden on Leadership. His leadership tenets are grounded in what I know for sure: Who you are as a leader is who you are as a person.』
(Outstanding example of leadership in action) 『Loved the book. Inspirational quotes that have really helped me...."value is not based on wether I win or lose but wether I gave my best".』
(John Wooden The Greatest of All-Time) 『John Wooden's insight and knowledge is priceless. This book coupled with Coach K and Coach Godwin's Everyone Hates a Ball Hog. Great Buys!!!Everyone Hates a Ball Hog but they All Love a Scorer: The Complete Guide to Scoring Points on and off the Basketball Court』
(Excellent book) 『John Wooden's book on Leadership is a great introspective view on a concept that is very hard to define. Leadership is one of the most difficult concepts that we run into on a daily basis, both with families and in the workplace. His book is a wonderful tool that we all should utilize in order to better ourselves and our organizations. I would advise anyone to read this book and take to heart what he says, especially his definition of success. I had a hard time trying to live up to the expectations of everyone else and that caused me to become discouraged and frustrated. After reading the book, and re-examining how I viewed my accomplishments, I was able to alleviate that pressure and concentrate on giving a better effort. As a result I was able to alter a few things in my life and experienced success as a byproduct. I have passed on the book to various teachers and coaches and they have all thanked me for it. Most have seen an improvement in the way they connect with the people under them and credit the book for giving them the direction they needed to improve their leadership qualities. One person is a high school hockey coach, and former roommate of mine. He has seen an improvement in his team but more importantly noted how they have changed off the ice as well. They have become better students and all around better kids because of the values he tried to emphasize. In the end, that is more important than anything else, which I think John Wooden would agree. Again, it's a very worthwhile book that anybody could learn from. I would advise all of you to read it and pass it along to your friends or colleagues as well. 』
(Masterful Teachings of Leadership) 『 Although Wooden on Leadership is the first leadership book I have ever read, I still had to agree with the critics as I was reading the book. As a university student, I was required to read a book about leadership of my choice for a class. I decided to choose this particular book not only because of the great reviews it received, but because the author possesses such a remarkable credibility. I knew that I had chosen the right one as I was reading the beginning pages. And, throughout the book I could see how Wooden's teachings would be able to help me in my future endeavors in becoming a successful entrepreneur.
What I thought of leadership before became obviously incomplete and muddled. Wooden is very detailed and specific as he explains step-by-step how to build and maintain the perfect leadership style. He presents an organized system that makes complete sense because of his support behind his claim; his support of examples of past experiences and trustworthy testimonials that are applied with perfect timing and relevance to the content. Even when I did not agree with one of his particular views, I could not help but change my position because of his strong argument and reasoning that are backed by convincing support. Wooden expresses himself as perfectly as can be, constantly telling us why he chose certain words so that the reader can understand exactly what he means.
Overall, Wooden on Leadership is easy and interesting to read. On many pages, Wooden includes a grey box with words of wisdom, advice and motivation being some of them. Also, on almost every page is a quote that is related to that page's contents. To me, these tools kept the reading interesting and enjoyable. I highly recommend this book to anyone who intends on building or honing his or her leadership skills. 』 『

Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Misleading Title) 『Although the pics were nice, the book is hardly about ideas for inventing your own recipies, which is the reason for my purchase. Had I been able to thumb through this book at a "box store" I would not have purchased it. I was looking more for information about the requirements in creating my own cakes, not a suggestion that I use "almond extract instead of vanilla extract". Big deal. As it was a gift for an avid baker, the book will no doubt be appreciated, but no more than any of the others on the shelf. My search continues!』
(Great cookbook) 『Gave this as a gift so I haven't tried the recipes, but the book is very well laid out.』
(The Craft of Baking: Cakes, Cookies, and Other Sweets with Ideas for Inventing Your Own) 『With the recent surge in dumbed-down baking books (like those that zip up boxed cake mixes,) and overly-complicated ones (like those that require professional culinary knowledge,) it is refreshing to see a book that settles nicely in between. //The Craft of Baking,// is an accessible dessert book that presents primarily simple, creative recipes with a focus on fresh, seasonal ingredients. DeMasco, currently the pastry chef at Robert De Niro's Locanda Verde in New York, cut her teeth at some of Manhattan's finest restaurants.
Recipes in the book feature familiar ingredients used in both traditional and unique ways. More straightforward are those like rich Chocolate Pudding or Sour Cherry Scones, while, conversely, the Rustic Blueberry Cornmeal Tart, bursts with interesting flavors and textures and dense Gingerbread Cupcakes, carrying deep undertones from dark beer, coffee, and molasses, are brightened by candied fresh ginger.
The book includes subsections, packed with tips for recipe additions and substitutions, that encourage you to flavor things exactly as you like. In addition, deft explanations, such as mixing brioche dough until "it is shiny and makes a slapping sound on the sides of the bowl," help to guide you through the more challenging processes.

(Brilliant AND accessible for the home cook) 『This is an excellent cookbook, for a number of reasons. First, the directions are clear and accurate in all of the recipes I have tried. Second, the recipes are not, for the most part, fussy; they are do-able if you have any experience in the kitchen. If you've never rolled piecrust before, a more basic book, like Dorie Greenspan's "Baking" or Marion Cunningham's "The Fanny Farmer Baking Book" might be more useful. Third, some of the recipes will make you see old things in new ways; the jasmine rice pudding (especially with the added rum raisins) is simple and brilliant. You can put it together while you're making dinner. Fourth, the recipes are well chosen and, thank heavens, limited in number. There's no need to contemplate a whole bunch of chocolate cakes, wondering which one is REALLY good, as you must do with a more extensive volume, like Greenspan's "Baking" (an excellent book in its own right). Finally, the recipes are delicious. I certainly haven't had a chance to make all of them (although I can speak for the trifle, which speedily disappeared from the Christmas dinner table), but it's easy to see that it's the kind of book I'll want to work my way through. It's worth adding that "The Craft of Baking" includes recipes that never see an oven, like the wondrous cashew brittle or the ones in the chapters on puddings (the lemon steamed pudding!) and ice creams. Even if you are as guilty as I am of owning too many cookbooks, you will want to get this one. M. Feldman』
(Eat something fabulous!) 『I am an enthusiastic, experienced amateur dessert maker. I've read over 100 dessert cookbooks, and am always seeking high quality tastes, whether I go out to eat or cook at home.
A pastry chef at a high-end restaurant has to be creative, and execute extremely well to create desserts that customers will willingly pay a lot for. DeMasco shares a lot of detailed knowledge that has helped her do that. Her careful instructions will help you succeed and enjoy your desserts. You never get the feeling that this book was whipped out just because the publisher thought it would sell a lot because the chef is famous.
This book avoids several common pitfalls. It is not the big encyclopedic cookbook filled with recipes, the majority of which you know you're never going to make. It is not the umpteenth cookbook of gooey-sweet-nostalgic recipes for blondies or cupcakes that you feel you could easily outdo with a stroll on [...]. (but there are are recipes for cupcakes -- just carefully chosen and best-of-kind recipes). If I were to cook my way through a cookbook J&J style, this might be the one, because every recipe I read I want to make.
There is a nice mix of ambitious desserts with sophisticated flavors to wow the dinner party guests with, and desserts that you are going to eat while standing up, primarily off your finger, with no one but your whining dog looking.
Claudia Fleming's influence shows - this book is like a "more of" sequel to the superb "The Last Course: The Desserts of Gramercy Tavern". 1 cup pecans, roughly chopped
1 1/2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
1 1/4 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup packed dark brown sugar
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup raspberry preserves

Directions
Preheat the oven to 350 F. Butter an 8-inch square baking pan and line the bottom with parchment.
In a small saucepan, melt the butter. Remove from the heat and let cool to room temperature.
Spread the pecans on a baking sheet. Bake until lightly golden and fragrant, about 5 minutes. Cool the sheet completely on a wire rack.

The series is wrapped up nicely. The realms are peaceful again. Ann, Felecity and Gemma find there way in the world. As well, Kartik finds his purpose.
Two things I have to say about this book, and they are random. One, it is a very thick book. Remember, my love/hate relationship? I normally like big, thick books but this one was too long. Two, Gemma has red hair. I have red hair. I love all protagonist characters with red hair. I know, shallow. But it is true.
The ending is beautiful, but I hated it.』
(Spoiler alert) 『I am on the same page as many others. After I finished reading this, I wanted to know what others thought.
The books in and of themselves were entertaining on a Harry Potter, Eragon level. I could have picked them apart for the inconsistencies and lack of development, but I chose to enjoy them, and I thoroughly did. I took the story at face value and had a fun read. The only thing I could have done without were the not so subtle feminist messages. I am all for women having strength, but she kind of ranted a little bit at times.
What Libba Bray did have going for her that set these books apart from others was an amazing and beautiful love story. It wasn't teeny-bopper. It was two people who found their strength on their own and then came together for a greater purpose. She told the story of their destinies and their souls coming together, and it really gripped me. SO I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY KARTIK TURNED INTO A TREE?!?! She had it set up so well- they had come together, the magic in the realms had changed...sure the whole book alluded to the fact they they couldn't be together in real life, but that's why I was hoping for a surprise happy ending. It just didn't have to end the disappointing way in which it did. I think Kartik's life was cut too short. It seriously had me bummed.
As to the fact that the girls remained self centered and immature- well, they were teenagers.』
(Why did I read this?) 『I started reading this book series on a whim when I came across the first book for only $2 at a Borders. Normally YA fantasy series are not my cup of tea, but I read it anyway and found it enjoyable enough. I quickly picked up the second book and read that one as well, but it didn't keep my attention and it took me two or three times as long to get through. So this caused me to not quite rush to get the third in the series. Even after I bought the book on sale again it took me month to get to read it. I finally started this book a little more then 2 weeks ago and am left wondering why I even continued.
I am a quick reader, but I found it hard to read more then 40 pages a day. This book was long, too long, it was 800+ pages and boring, it could have been cut down by more than half. The characters all seemed to change from my memories of them from the first two books. I ended up hating almost every character in the book. The characters acted in ways that seemed very out of character. There actions c
