It looks substantial in the online picture, but once it arrived it seems less weighty. I can't see how it once retailed for over $250 but it may be worth the $79 price.
Ordered this product for a client and know have spec'ed it for several future jobs. It is a very well made and is has a nice finish. It is just the right size for those small remodel jobs that have limited storage.
Great price on a really nice train (hotel) towel rack. Looks great in my newly remodeled bathroom in my 1872 house.
Well made, works as designed. Easy to install. Well packaged and delivered as promised. The unit promotes an open classy feel as opposed to other shelving and cabinetry.
I had invisioned it being a bit larger, but I am pleased with the quality. Mounting was a bit tricky because of the location of the screw holes in relation to the decorative tips on the top shelf bars. But it is so pretty! Happy to have made the purchase.

It is what it is -- great stuff, if you want to attract squirrels, although once a few of them discover it, they will eat one or two each day! Good price, quick delivery. Convenient for bulk buying. No complaints.
If you have bird feeders and squirrels like to come and raid them this product will keep them busy at their own feeding spot. The corn logs last much longer than the usual corn cobs and only squirrels have the teeth to really make a dent in the logs.
I have been using these for many years. They are ground up whole corn. When squirrels eat off of corn cobs they eat just the tiny germ and then discard the rest of the kernel creating a big mess.

I live deep in woods virtually surrounded by State Park/Lake/Wildlife Habitat, Towns Habit, County Habits and Audubon Lands. Off my house is a tree level 30 ft X 30 ft deck with many METAL bird feeders on two sides hanging out into the woods. There is no way to totally protect them from the squirrels, who eat up plastic and wood, but using long, nearly horizontal hangers for feeders and safflower seeds for those that hang close to rails helps to discourage squirrel chewing. Squirrels aren't supposed to like Safflower but I have one pregnant female who eats safflower. ;(

Anyway I keep two logs out at all times for the many, many wild (obese) squirrel "pets" that live here. I can usually go through "only" about 6 logs a week (and some wildlife feed scattered on deck) as long as I bring one of the logs in every night that the opossums steal if left out.

I haven't observed any other birds showing much interest in the logs other than the Crows. They love them. We have several families of Crows who visit daily to eat the logs,Safflower seeds, and woodpecker's special suet (squirrels favor that one too).

BTW... On the few occasions we run out of Squirrelogs and are not successful hitting the few stores around that carry them but always seem to be out we have had to use corn cobs. Between the crows and squirrels we have to replace the cobs every hour or so. AND THE MESS!!!!!

This price from this seller is the best I have found even with shipping. And with one exception the packages from our local sources always have bugs in them ... the one that doesn't has the initials is PS.

You wont go wrong getting this product. I used to use the little wood seat to hold the logs. After the novelty wears off a strategically placed screw holder that comes with some of the packaged logs works fine and gives appropriate viewing pleasure. One local seller sells packages that icludes a holder screw in each package; others sell packages without the screw holders. The prices are pretty close. I have a huge collection of the screw holders and haven't yet found another use for them.
This product could not be located at the local store where it was originally found. I was thrill when I found the items on the internet. My squirrels are happy again and they can eat as good as the birds. Thank you.

We tried this product and our Mini Schnauzer just loved the entire Happy Hips line. You really get the best value here. I've checked all our Feed Stores in the area and could not find a lower price. We even subscribed to the "Auto Ship" and it comes to our door automatically every 60 days. Gotta love it! The only thing that "bothered" me was our very first shipment of Duck (12cans) came with every single can of food dented in some way. I decided to chalk it up to chance and wait on the second shipment before raising Cain. The second shipment was in perfect condition so we're very happy.

I bought this for my 21 month old grandson and he liked it very much.
My daughter (2) loves this DVD and the previews of other DVD's are whole songs so it's like having bonus features instead of advertizing. Cows, horses, sheep, wagon rides, chores and recreation - very well done.
I bought this for my dd because of how much I loved it when I was a kid. She absolutely adores it- they basically go from song to song quickly enough to hold her attention.

I am a Grandmother now. My daughters had lots of videos they watched when they were younger but this one tops their MEMORIES.

I'm what one might call a closet Linkin Park fan. I loved Hybrid Theory for years, liked Meteora all right for a while, and haven't even bothered picking up Minutes to Midnight after I listened to a friend's copy and didn't think much of it.

Then comes Songs from the Underground. I'll admit, I wasn't expecting much when I bought this, but I was clinging to the hope that some of the older demo tracks might be good.

They're more than good. "Qwerty" is possibly the most aggressive song ever written by Linkin Park, the two live tracks are outstanding, and (I kid you not) Chester lays down some Layne Staley-style vocals on "Part of Me."

The only negative thing I can say about this EP is that the instrumental track "Sold My Soul to Yo Mama" is pretty boring. I prefer the hidden instrumental at the end of "Part of Me" to this track.

Please, Linkin Park, revert to your old ways and give us more songs like "Qwerty" and "And One." Great EP, pick it up pronto.
dont get me wrong, i love linkin park and happen to know first hand how good these songs are, but 14.99? seriously? do yourself a favor and drive or even walk to best buy and get this cd for 6.99 or just go to the lp website. now this is no bad talk or slander about amazon in fact most everything ive bought was under any price i could find, but as far as used items go, these sellers apparently dont believe in depreciated value. trust me, the gallon of gas is worth it.
This is a great album...but there shouldnt be live songs. The best song on this album is deffinently "Qwerty" or "Dedicated". If Linkin Park keeps making albums like this they will be super super famous. Buy this album!
As an intro, Songs from the Underground consists of six popular Linkin Park Underground (fan site exclusive) tracks from the past seven years and two never-released live tracks ("Hunger Strike" and "My December").

The EP itself was an enjoyable listen that brought back some good memories. Most of the songs could fit right in with Hybrid Theory and Meteora tracks.

"Announcement Service Public" is a short instrumental intro track, nothing special.
"QWERTY" is my personal favorite, a track with Chester's signature screams and actual rapping from Mike Shinoda. Really reminded me of the Hybrid Theory years.
"And One" is also a solid track, reminiscent of Hybrid Theory songs.
"Sold My Soul to Yo Mama is one of LP's signature instrumental tracks, with snippets of "Papercut" and some serious beats/scratches.
"Dedicated" is another standout song, with Mike Shinoda rapping throughout. Similar to "Hands Held High" but "dedicated to the kids/Dedicated to wherever music lives."
"Hunger Strike" is actually a live version sung by Chris Cornell featuring Chester.
"My December" is a piano version, recorded live during the Projekt Revolution 2008 tour. A very nice performance, with Chester belting out the lyrics with angst and desire.
"Part of Me" is the last song, another Hybrid Theory era track. A good end to the EP, with a hidden instrumental at the end of the song.

Overall, this is EP is well put together, ideal for LP fans who have not heard these songs through Linkin Park Underground.
It's also just a good CD to listen to if a wave of nostalgia hits from listening to newer LP songs. This was Linkin Park at its earliest, arguably at its finest. Respect and remember.

It is unfortunate the video shows two homosexual men in the bath. There is no reason for it other than another attempt by the media to portray homosexuality as 'normal'. The psychologist that led the American Psychiatric Association to remove homosexuality from their list of psychological disorders several years ago, is now lobbying them to return it to the original status of being considered a psychological disorder. His decision is based, in part, on the fact that extensive research (and the research of many other reputable studies) shows that LESS THAN 3% of the population is homosexual. Their studies also demonstrate that over 97% of homosexuals have been sexually abused at some point in their life. The liberal media never discusses these facts. In short, there is a mountain of statistical evidence to demonstrate that homosexuality is NOT normal.
It's no wonder that so many parents correctly choose to teach their children that homosexuality is NOT normal, healthy behavior.

I recieved the dvd fairly fast. It was sent in great condition and works beautifully.
I give it a 5 star to this product just because I actually watched it with my son and he loved it from the beginning to the end. He was hooked up immediately and I have to admit I loved it too.2 Thumbs up.
My 10 month old little princes just loves Elmo, and i love him too because it buys me time when ever i need to get stuff done arroung the house :O)
My two year old son loves this DVD. He watches it over and over again. It keeps him well entertained while he is learning. I would definately reccommend it.

This is a hilarious movie. We ordered it. It came quickly, within a few days and it was a good price to pay. Need a laugh, buy this movie!
Jack starts off as a kind of charming jack a** who only dates women under 30 and can never sleep in the bed with a woman he just relations with. Pretty pathetic, huh? Soon he meets Keaton throgh her daughter (I know - keep watching!) and they discover things about themselves they weren't aware of before. What follows is a huge emotional flow of good and bad (and hilarious)! Jack does eventually get a good dose of justice. Nicholson and Keaton are at they're best and really draw you into their characters. The laughs are smart, situational and many! There's also a nice warmth to complete the satisfaction of this gem - nice to re-watch too.
THIS IS THE BEST MOVIE EVER FOR AN UPLIFTING AND LIGHT-HEARTED DAY!!!

A smart and often very funny movie about love on the back nine of life. It's different than the love of youth, and better, I think: The romance is just as sweet, but richer, with a lifetime of experience swirled around in it.

This is a thoughtful and--not a word I'd usually use, but perfect in this case--delightful movie. Jack is indeed his own type, as the movie makes note, which makes this a role seemingly written for him, playing a legendary Lothario forced to consider what he's missed and missing in such a life. A gutsy role for Nicholson, if you think about it, but because he's Jack, you don't. (Well, until later, obviously.)

Diane Keaton's always been a background actress for me, someone who's always done good to great work, but whose films and roles have never resonated in memory for me. This one I'll remember. For me it's her best. Her candor onscreen is so real at times it's startling; she seems less to be acting than being caught on film.

In the supporting roles, Amanda Peet continues to get better--check out Igby Goes Down for more evidence--and, because I'm a guy, prettier as well. The only false note, not surprisingly, is Keanu Reeves, whose casting is an absolute mystery to me. And as a doctor no less; Joey's Drake Remoray on Friends seems more real. I just don't get how with so many actually good (and more handsome, for that matter) actors available--Ted? The fact that he continues to be cast in roles that require him to emote just further convinces me he's a modern Rasputin.

It's a small price to pay, though. This one's worth evening price. It's as close to genuine as today's Hollywood gets. You'll feel better for it, and actually wish you could be older and in love.
This romantic comedy is great and almost a classical one. Performances are great but the script is even better. Even though the DVD is quite simple and do not include any additional interesting material that would have completed the product, the movie by itself deserves to be part of all collections.
As upscale sitcoms go,Something's Gotta Givehas more to offer than most romantic comedies. Obviously working through some semi-autobiographical issues regarding "women of a certain age," writer-director Nancy Meyers brings adequate credibility and above-average intelligence to what is essentially (but not exclusively) a fantasy premise, in which an aging lothario who's always dated younger women (Jack Nicholson, more or less playing himself) falls for a successful middle-aged playwright (Diane Keaton) who's convinced she's past the age of romance, much less sexual re-awakening. As long as old pals Nicholson and Keaton are on screen discussing their dilemma or discovering their mutual desire,Something's Gotta Giveis terrific, proving (in case anyone had forgotten) that Hollywood can and should aim for an older demographic. Myers falls short with the sitcom device of a younger lover (Keanu Reeves) who wants Keaton as much as Nicholson does; it's believable but shallow and too easily dismissed. Myers also skimps on supporting roles for Frances McDormand, Amanda Peet, and Jon Favreau, but thankfully this is one romantic comedy that doesn't pander to youth. I was extremely pleased to be able to purchase "My Sweet Charlie" at Amazon.com. I received the video in only two days! We watched it right away, and it was in beautiful condition. It was always one of my all time favorite movies. Superb acting by both Patty Duke and Al Freeman Jr. I know where to go whenever I want to find something I can't find anywhere else! Thank you again for your excellent service!
It arrived earlier than scheduled and included a DVD with the video. I was very pleased!
I had not seen this movie since I was a kid, I had forgot so much of the movie. However something about the movie always reminded me that I wanted to view it again. I very much enjoyed watching it and now I have it for my own collection.

I agree with the opinion that such a celebrated film should be released on DVD. Poignant, very relevant for the time, and truly great performances from the two leads. A top-notch made-for-TV production....
I have watched this tape about 5 times and I still enjoy it. BRING IT TO DVD, for goodness sake! My VHS tape won't last much longer.

ok there are like 4-5 reviews on this film and being a big fan of the original corman classic i feel this film does not live up to the original.its watchable but the original has a cult status that is insane and will live on in infamy.
however in all of the reviews of this classic remake i have not heard any mention of the final scene where the monsters come out of the sea and attack the fishing village during the cumminity fair was the same exact footage from the original corman classic,they just inserted a good 10-15 minutes of the original film into the remake some twenty years later.am i the only one who notices this as i had not read any other comment on this bizzare twist.???

MY NEPHEW ENJOYED IT BUT I DIDN'T.WHAT THEY DID TO EMMA AT THE END REALLY TURNED ME ON THIS MOVIE THAT WAS REALLY A CRUEL THING TO DO.THAT MADE ME RALLY DISLIKE THIS MOVIE. WATCH THIS MOVIE AND SEE WHAT YOU THINK.
This IS the 1980 film starring Doug McClure. Now, ol' Doug was never going to win any awards for his acting, but even he outdoes himself in the bad acting department in this super cheesy film.

I remembered this film from the days when I got my first VCR. I had remembered it as being fairly well done. Boy, was I wrong! This movie BITES!

HFTD follows the same basic premise that every "seafaring" monster film has since Jaws was made: people get attacked, pets get attacked, locals get angry, loyal local takes charge to get monster, expert scientist is readily on hand to assist, more people get eaten, festival/holiday is disturbed by the monster; hero dispatches monster, and finally, the film sets us up for a sequel.

Jaws was a one time thing. Even Speilberg never thought it was going to be as popular as it was since they hadn't been able to get the shark footage that they wanted. The result was a benchmark film against which all other seafaring "monster" films are judged.

The acting is quite terrible throughout. It's not amateur hour, but you can actually see the non acting throughout (McClure's screen wife has absolutely no expression on her face when she is attacked by several of the Humanoids). The scientist who knows what's going on (Ann Turkel) is so vapid that you just want to shake her. Ann Turkel got her acting chops from the modeling runway and we all know that is sufficient (right!). She has no expression and she moves as if in a dream, delivering her lines evenly and expressionless. Hilariously when the hero, the scientist, and the honorable local (an American Indian) go to the location where the local first saw the monsters, we can tell that the location is anything BUT where he first saw it. How can this be since he saw it on his own property? However the location they identify is NOT his property!

The script is such a pitiful mess that the writer should be ashamed of himself.

The monsters (the Humanoids) are two legged fish monsters with a tail - at about 7 feet tall - they are the result of frog DNA being merged with salmon DNA and then the salmon being eaten by "the once thought extinct but isn't really" coelocanth. So where do they get their two adult legs and extra long five fingered arms (oh, that must be the frog DNA at work, since frogs are bipeds, aren't they?).

Rob Bottin created the monster costumes and while not totally stupid looking, they are quite idiotic (but that's more the director's and producer's fault than his).

Really cheesy and badly done film. Don't bother.
I don't see why Roger Corman would allow one of his best, if not best of his works to get butchered like this, even when he was producing. The entire scare factor that the original had is gone, the great music is gone, the characters you could give a damn about are gone, the awesome monsters are gone, leaving this movie a VERY pale imitation of a classic 1980 monster movie.

I can understand that this was a low budget, but so was the original, and it still came out better. The original Humanoids looked much better then these here new ones, the older ones had character and a feeling of terror, these here new ones are horrid, they still have the basic design...but the feeling just is not there. The monsters awesome shreeks are gone, replaced by crappy sounding "ape" grunts.

You couldn't give a care about the characters anymore, that is the best I can say about them. The acting, even by my standards is dreaded, I guess Corman felt that the only way to possibly keep a viewer's attention is throw blood everywhere and womens' chests.

The Fox and the Hound never caught fire with me and I don't see much about it that's endearing. It dates from Disney's dark ages after the decline and near fall of the studio circa the early 1970's to late 1980's, and it just isn't up to snuff compared to the gems of the Disney Renaissance of 1989-2000. My parents took me to see this at a theater when I was very little, and I fell asleep. I saw it again last month and...fell asleep. To each her own but in my view this production oozes ersatz sentimentality and shoots low in its emotional range. It isn't in the upper echelon of Disney films and it isn't all that great a movie either.
Before I wrote this review I saw people giving bad reviews because its not in widescreen, but I say who cares this is a GREAT movie its story its so good it will make you want to cry. This a keeper !
Shipping and communication was easy and fast. The DVD is in great shape, as described, and I am very pleased.

The Fox and the Houndmarked the last collaboration between Disney's older artists, including three of the "Nine Old Men" (Frank Thomas, Ollie Johnston, and Woolie Reitherman), and the young animators who would make the record-breaking films of the '90s. Based on a book by Daniel P. Mannix, the film tells the story of a bloodhound puppy and a fox kit who begin as friends but are forced to become enemies. Tod and Copper barely establish their friendship before Copper begins his training as hunting dog. Unfortunately, neither character develops much of a personality, which makes it difficult to care about them. The screen comes alive near end of the film, when Tod and Copper have to join forces to fight off an enormous bear. It had been years since Disney produced a sequence with this kind of feral power--and years would pass before they surpassed it.The Fox and the Houndranks as one of the studio's lesser efforts, but it suggests that better films were soon to follow. (Great Movie for the FAMILY)

That Thing You Do is about a band from Erie, Pennsylvania that got together right around the time that The Beatles were making such a hot fuss. When their drummer breaks his arm just before a big talent show, they recruit Guy Patterson (Tom Everett Scott). The story is mostly told through his shades, and he is also the catalyst that catapults them to fame, when, nervously, he speeds up their song and wins the contest.

Guy: I hadn't played in front of people in so long, so I was nervous, but it sounds better fast. Jimmy wanted it slow, but he was wrong, it's an up-tempo number. And we won!

Tom Everett Scott as Guy Patterson is very appealing. He reminds you of a young Tom Hanks, looks-wise. He is very serious about his drums, though he prefers Jazz, and is wise beyond his years -- though he still has some lessons to learn. Like, why is Faye Dolan (Liv Tyler) still with Jimmy Mattingly (Johnathon Schaech) the temperamental songwriter/guitarist who doesn't even treat her very nice when she would be perfect for him?

Lenny Haise, played by Steve Zahn, is the clown of the group. He has most of the funny lines, and he also seems to enjoy their quick rise to fame the most. When their record shows signs of being a fluke hit he doesn't worry that it might be their last. He just enjoys the whole rush of fame as if it were a roller coaster ride.

For a first time director, this is a good effort. Hanks has great love for the era and music, and he tells the story well without becoming too sentimental or cloying, for the most part. His Mr. White is a bit cynical, or maybe just realistic, knowing for The Wonders, a hit song might just be a fluke, and they could end up as One Hit Wonders.

Is he exploiting them? Maybe just a little, but he is also watching over them. He has seen it before, the common tale of a One-Hit Wonder group. It's not a tragedy if you only have one hit song in life -- one more than most people -- but it can be if you can never get over it. He tries to keep them grounded, but also encourages them to make the most of it while they can.

They took a lot of care getting the music right, and their song, That Thing You Do, sounds like it could have been a hit in the early 60's. They hired Dwight Twilley to write a song, but the one they ended up using was written by Adam Schlesinger, the bassist of Fountains of Wayne, in response to a contest being held by the studio. All the scenes where music is played work well, from the talent show back in Erie, Pennsylvania, to their cross country tour, all the way to Hollywood, California.

I was skeptical at first, reading the reviews of the extended version of this film, but ended up getting it anyway because of the cost was so much more for a used version of the orriginal release.

1. You can choose on the DVD which version you want to watch, it has both the orriginal theatrical release and the extended cut. So really you're getting more bang for your buck at a way reasonable price.

2. I really enjoyed see the extra footage of the group, a real reward to see them perform a few extra songs that are not in the original release.

Man I love this film.

Its the story of the Wonders - thoroughly entertaining and (yes) moving

The Tom Hanks extended (by a half hour!) cut..

I've always been fond of this film. The music is great (the soundtrack cd is especially wonderful - even the tracks by Tom Hanks himself like "Love you lots and lots" - though good luck finding the songbook!)

There are wonderful lines ("I...quit. I quit. I quit I quit I quit. I quit Mr White.") Theres a touching love story..

Watching the extended cut again, I'm reminded of the recent Tolkien films, where they added so much footage in so seamlessly, and it added a lot to the point that you would never watch the theatrical cut ever again (unless you had to be somewhere by a certain time and couldn't afford the longer time!)

I like the added time given to Guy Stevens and Faye (Liv Tyler)'s relationship. I can see why some stuff was left out of the theatrical cut - its fun to see Tom Hank's Mr White character bickering with his date, but its not essential.

But if you love this film (it IS a very likable film - even Hanks wife and son have cameos) you really have to get this then.

I like how Guy gets along with his dad, theres a good relationship with his family at work (I like how they don't pay the sister!) Its not cliched - these are just regular kids from Erie Pennsylvania who happen upon a hit song, pretty much by accident..

Theres a strong American Graffiti influence (the end credits tell what happened to the Wonders after) and theres also little nods to Spinal Taps (the Wonders play while aircrafts pass overhead).

Did I mention the music? Yes I have. Dude from the Fountains of Wayne (an actual place in Wayne NJ!) wrote the catchier songs

And thank God they're GOOD catchy songs, cos "That thing you do" is played ad nauseum throughout the film, as the group promote it while on tour (often playing no other number!) and then on tv.

Keep an eye out for Peter Scolari (of Bosom Buddies, and friend to Hanks) as the MC on that. Jonathan Demme has a cameo as (what else) a director. White flirts with him btw

Its not a dark film by any means, which is why I like it so much I bet. No rock screw ups in this, who drive themselves and everyone around them to ruin. The worst you get is an egotistical songwriter in the group who rubs everyone else the wrong way.

The dvd extras - well, they're wonderful: interviews with the cast, talking about the film (apparently a lot of kissing in the scene with Cherlize Theron). Heck, you can even play the That Thing You Do single at 78 rpm if you so choose (just click on the speed knob on the title menu while the dvd is loading!)

Again - the deleted scenes DO add a lot to the film. I was watching the deleted scenes for Tootsie recently (4-5 of them all told) and I watched them once, never peered at them again (and I've seen Tootsie at least 20, 25 times all told - even owned the video pre-dvd and watched it on laserdisc besides)

But I tend to watch the extended cut for TTYD. I like how it fleshes out the story more. You see more of Guy talking with his hero Del Paxton, and doing interviews with him and his musical cronies. Which is great.

Nice little scenes - you see the sweet T.B. Player (The Bass Player) hooking up with one of the Tritone singers on tour

Also - I didn't pick up on this first time I saw this film - Tom Hanks is probably the only character besides Guy who cares for Faye. Hanks got a good role here - he has fun with it, you can see hes having a good time; gets a kick from the music. His manager character is an outsider (he tends to be standoffish with the Wonders, although he cares for them and genuinely likes them). But you can tell hes having fun - hes doing what he wants to do, even if hes not given the credit (a great added scene where the head of Tritone takes credit for the Wonders - Guy asks him about it, and White just says "Never mind. Did you like Texas?")

So this could be one of the better roles Tom Hank has ever had. His first film role at age 29 (in He Knows You're Alone) was just a cameo where he was a student, basically commenting on the film itself; here hes having a good time - doesn't really let his guard down, but lets it loose when he wants (theres a great shot of him at one of the Wonders live performances of "Dance with me tonight" and hes completely internalized but thoroughly enjoying the performance)

And Shades! Guy Patterson's shades make you think back on all the ridiculous gimmicks people in bands have done to stand out. You got the Beatles having the long hair, the Byrds Roger McGuinn wearing different colored shaded glasses, Lennon doing the whole granny glasses bit, Love's Arthur Lee walking around with one shoe.. Groups really are marketed, and the drummer has a whole set of shades he to wear AT ALL TIMES! To make him "dangerous" - great stuff.

Very highly recommended film, theatrical OR extended. Very entertaining, especially if you're nostalgic for the 60s (and after all who isn't?) The period background is totally believable, what with the old models of tvs and radios, especially in the Paterson's Appliance store! (Closed on Sunday)
I remember when I first saw this in the '90s and thinking, "Wow, what a shock: a modern-day movie with no no villains, no nasty people and nary a cuss word." I kept waiting for that stuff as the story unfolder, and it never appeared. It also has a nice sentimental ending.

The story is a simple one about a group of average guys who form a band and become one-hit wonders.

Tom Everett Scott, a young Tom Hanks-lookalike, is an appealing lead and Liv Tyler looks very, very pretty in the female lead role. The band in this almost-old-fashioned musical, is good to hear, too. They are a throwback to the old movie musical days of Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland. Yes, you hear the same song (the movie title) over and over but's a great song which is very catchy. The rest of the music is decent, too.

Speaking of Hanks, he plays the promoter of the group. It's not a huge part but Hanks, as always, is entertaining. The whole film is, and, is refreshing to see.
Great Movie. We have preteens and this is a movie we all enjoyed. I think we hve seen it 4 or 5 times. The extended directors cut is too long to sit through. We decided the movie was edited perfectly.
Tom Hanks's debut as a writer and director is a lively, affectionate account of the shooting-star career of a forgotten (fictional) '60s pop-rock band called The Wonders--as in "one-hit wonders." Hanks plays the manager of the group, which includes drummer Guy "Sticks" Patterson (Tom Everett Scott) who works the floor at his parents' appliance store in Erie, Pennsylvania; Jimmy (Johnathon Schaech), the talented and temperamental lead singer and songwriter; Lenny (Steve Zahn), the goofy guitarist; and Ethan Embry as a geeky little fellow identified in the cast list only as "The Bass Player." The movie traces their meteoric rise and fall, from cutting their first record, to going on tour with a Phil Spector/Motown-type revue, to the internal tensions that lead to the band's disintegration, which comes when they fail to follow up their smash hit single, "That Thing You Do!" I was amazed by how enthused my 10 month old is with this particular DVD. We have other elmo/sesame street, but this one in particular caught my daughters attention. Maybe because we have 2 dogs? But the babies section is adorable as well!One of the best buys for her entertainment! we LOVE LOVE LOVE this DVD! I would recommend it to anyone who wants to "try" an elmo dvd.
Elmo is ALWAYS Awesome! And with small kids you can't go wrong with animals and babies!
My 18 month old granddaughter has limited screen time and is not overly interested in TV but she loved this video! It is clever and fun to watch. We did not like the "cartoon" segment so much but the video is definitely worth the money and I would defintely buy it again.
We received this as a gift from some friends with a slightly older toddler. My son was not allowed to watch TV or DVDs until he was about 2.5 years old, and this was one of the first he really watched and enjoyed. He is the youngest and he loves the "babies" segment, in which toddlers and young children play with babies. My son learned how to interact with babies, and grew very interested in them, from watching this DVD.
I think the DVD is very well-done and exciting for small children. We have seen it repeatedly, and each time, I really appreciate the fun imagery, the music, and especially the choice of subjects that hold such great interest for small children.

I was a little concerned about ordering food items from online but this was the perfect choice. My husband loves Rum and Tortuga Rum Cake but it is hard to find in local stores or it's to pricey for me. I had received a gift card for Amazon and thought I would give you guys a try. To my surprise it was fast, easy and worth it. I will have more orders. This cake is absolutely wonderful. My husband prefers it in thin slices with a little butter on top and heated in the microwave, just until a little warm. He also likes to add a little extra Rum. The cake was very fresh. If you like a soft and moist cake not sort of dry and spongy this is the cake for you. They have lots of different flavors as well. Hope this helps someone.
I thought it was great. I prefer to make it myself then I can adjust the recipe as I see fit. I guess I expected so much more from reading all the reviews and seeing it on Foodtv and I thought I have got to try it.
The first time that I visited the Cayman Islands years ago, I saw these rum cakes for sale everywhere. Having never heard of them at the time, I decided to try one. Wow, were they ever delicious!

I've been a fan of Tortuga Rum Cakes every since. These cakes will arrive very moist. They have a pronounced rum flavor, but it is not overkill. I love these rum cakes and they are a great value at Amazon's prices.

Well, by my ID, you probably can tell I'm really into desserts. This cake, although a bit expensive, it's well worth it. Don't know what other rum cakes tastes like, but this one is definitely very good. Will for sure be getting other ones to try out.

The soft moist cake isn't so full of rum that it feels overdone. Some local bakers here go overboard with the wine and it's too soft, almost watery. This one still has a cake feel. Microwave it for 30 seconds, add on whipcream and ice cream, sit back, relax, watch some basketball, now that's truely a good time. For the health factor, I add in some fresh fruits so I can tell my wife, hey, this is the way I eat fruits!

I love this because it smells like tobacco and whiskey, which masks how drunk on whiskey I am and how many cigarettes I've smoked today.

I received the product the day it was estimated. It arrived in a box that was all damaged, but luckily all the padding inside protected the package and there weren't any damage to it.
I hadn't smelled this product before. It was recommended by friends when the discussion of the 'sexiest' cologne was surfaced. It was described as 'sex on a beach with the scent of burning cinnamon on side'. I was going to a concert that week, and I figured I wouldn't mind smelling like that.
Sprayed the cologne on my inner-elbow, wrist, and neck that evening. The smell reminded me of a spicy Eternity, as if Eternity got wiser and started dating women that knew what they were doing as opposed to girls that just knew how to dress and put make up.
The smell lasts about 5 hours on me. The last note is the best when it becomes a mix of 'fresh' and cinnamon.

I purchased this product for my Mother who has cancer. She has very little appetite. This product supplies her with a great deal of nutrition, it's very tasty, satisfying and filling. The texture is smooth and creamy. Many times, my Mom will not eat anything, but this she will drink and I am pleased when she will drink 3 or 4 at one sitting. The price was a good buy and shipment was quick.
My kids aren't crazy about Ensure by itself but I use them in smoothies and milkshakes and they love them. I love being able to make a "treat" for them that is so nutritious.
Ensure Plus chocolate and Strawberry Cream. Both taste very good, no coating in the mouth. I have cancer, no children, or family nearby. I was just laying around waiting. Now I bought new curtains, and remember to do the exercises my physical theripist taught me. My outlook and energy leval have improved!
I used this after dental surgery and it was very helpful to boost my nutritional intake. I didn't like the taste too much, found it too sweet, so I mixed it with yogurt, which improved not only the taste, but also the consistency, making it thicker and more filling. Also try mixing it with strawberry or wild berry for an interesting variation.

These are stretchy and soft. (It's a little hard getting used to how boyshorts are so high up in the back, but once used to it, it's fine). They're really well priced and they do run small like the merchant says. We will be buying more!

I have a 10 year old daughter who is not into "girly" stuff. Her favorite color is blue and it was very hard to find something that didn't have footballs on it. My husband and I liked this one best based on the way it looked. Had some blue, not too much pink and it was not a bad price either. When it arrived we were both impressed on how soft and thick it was. I loved the fact that the belt was attached and had elastic across the back. I wish my own robe was as nice as this one. It dose run small because she wears a 7 and the 10/12 was just big enough for her to grow a year or two. It didn't swallow her up.

Hot sauces are now becoming quite popular and there is a large variety of sauces that gives a large spectrum to choose from. Even though there are many different kinds, no hot sauce can be as hot as the Dave's Gourmet Products. I recommend this product, not only for it's extreme heat, but also it's wonderful taste. $40 is a small price to pay for this hot sauce.
Brilliant. An amazing deal if you plan on actually using it instead of just collecting it on the shelf because it takes so very little each time. A single drop diluted in maybe 1/2 cup of some other fluid takes it below so-insane-you-will-regret-tasting-it hot. As a reference point, since people's heat tolerance differs, I use about 2/3 tsp of the regular Dave's Insanity on a burger with no ill effect. So if you're in the same region, dilute less at your own peril. Also it stains like nobody's business so watch your clothing/kitchen table.

If you have ever dreamt of a Anise flavored lollipop, your wish has been granted. The Sambuca After-Dinner Lollipop is subtly spicy and delicious. The Crème-De-Menthe provides a refreshing flavor, while the Orange Liqueur, Coffee Liqueur (tastes like caramel coffee with hints of pumpkin pie spice) and Irish Crème are slightly more subtle.

Sherry turned out to be the most exotic of the flavors with a slightly spicy strawberry flavor. As you enjoy each lollipop the flavors seem to intensify slightly. This box also contains Pina Colada and Amaretto.

Since these lollipops are made for grownup tastes, I think they could make the Irish Creme flavor just slightly stronger.

If you are trying to decide between these and the smaller
size lollies, I'd definately go with these. I found the smaller
lollies were far too flavorful and the mix had a lot
of sour flavors.

Very sturdy and cute!
We got this for our daughter for Christmas. She was really excited to open it, but has barely played with it since then. It was $40 at Christmastime, which is WAY overpriced for what you get. The ferris wheel is battery operated and that is her favorite thing. I was expecting a few more accessories for the price and hype. So, it's ok, but I wouldn't pay $40 for it again.

Sweet Times at the Amusement Park
The Sweet Sundae Amusement Park features three major components--the Ferris wheel, roller coaster, and ice cream parlor. No assembly is required; just take them out of the box and let your child play.

The ice cream parlor opens to reveal fun features inside, including a food court, a lounge, and a turnstile that the pony can go through. (It might not be immediately obvious how to open up the ice cream parlor, but the instructions will take you through the steps.) The design is simple yet full of details to stimulate your child's imagination (and sweet tooth!), like the sundae on top of the ice cream parlor and the cupcake baskets on the Ferris wheel.

Fun on the Ferris Wheel and Roller Coaster
The Ferris wheel is especially fun. Your girl will love putting pony in one of the cupcake baskets, pressing the pink heart-shaped button, and watching the Ferris wheel go round to a gentle tune. The roller coaster, while not mechanized like the Ferris wheel, is also sure to be a hit with your child. The well-designed track keeps pony safely in the roller-coaster car as he zooms down it. There is also a pink and yellow gondola that pony can ride in that hooks on to the underside of the roller coaster--a cute touch.

The More Ponies the Merrier
We appreciated how all the little accessories--like the French fries, soda, and hot dog--attach to pony's leg, making it easy for your child to pretend with pony. These accessories are truly tiny, however, and pose a choking hazard for younger children, as well as being easy to lose. However, if you have younger children who like this toy, you could simply take away the small parts. Your child will still have plenty of fun without them.

Keep in mind that only one "real" plastic pony is included with the amusement park, and your girl might clamor for more once she starts playing. But there are several cardboard ponies included to add to the amusement park fun.

I love Melissa and Doug. They have come up with some of the most creative toys around. My girls, age 3 and 2 both love this toy. The 2 year old is learning her colors and shapes, and the 3 year old likes to see how many she can do before she runs out of pieces. I would buy this again in a heart beat!
I love this toy! We bought it for my oldest son for Christmas over 3 years ago, and now our youngest son loves it just as much. It is extremely durable~ well it has to be to survive 2 boys. A little paint has come off the edges of a few pieces, but that's it. My oldest started learning shapes and colors while playing with this puzzle, and I am using it to reinforce what my other son has already learned. We have several peg/shaped puzzles, but this is the one that my youngest reaches for first.
My 2 1/2 year plays with this alot. I love that it all stores nicely in the box it comes with. She knows all her shapes and I am sure this toy has helped.
I bought this for my son's second birthday. He loved it and took to it right away. He spent over an hour on it the first time. He's had it for a few weeks now and he sometimes pulls it out and asks to "make pictures". He is so proud of himself when he fits the pieces in and when he completes a puzzle, he claps and cheers for himself. I had been wanting to get him a puzzle that is made up of basic shapes so this works well. I call out the names of the shapes as he puts them in and he repeats them. It's also good for teaching colours. The only thing he sometimes has a problem with is the triangles, because they are not equilateral, so he has to turn them to fit them in. Sometimes he gets a little frustrated but I think it's good he has a bit of a challenge - he's learning to turn them so it's an accomplishment when he fits them in. I love Melissa and Doug products. This as usual, is durable and attractive. There are more interesting puzzles in the box than what the picture shows - there is a train, fire truck, house, flowers, butterfly, dog, etc. I'm really glad I got this for him.
My 3-yr-old nephew loved playing with this since he was 2. Learned shapes and colors, and his almost 2 yr old brother is learning fine motor skills with this toy as well.

Puzzle is well made&shouls stand up to a 2-3 yr olds abuse. Pictures are under pieces for greater matching and pieces are thick/easily handled.
Both of my boys (16 month old&2 1/2 year old) enjoy this puzzle. Ours were painted all around though the back is a solid color paint. They enjoy playing with them as toys as well as a puzzle.
I bought the Melissa&Doug Large Shapes Jumbo Puzzle as my kids first puzzle, and was pleased enough with Melissa&Doug to purchase this as a next step. My kids are 18-months-old, and they love to pretend with each little vehicle - waving the plane in the air, or making a "woo-woo!" sound for the fire engine. The "wells" that each piece fits into are fairly shallow, so my beginner puzzle-doers find it a little frustrating when the pieces slip out easily - but this is more a reflection of their puzzling skills than of the quality of the toy. I would definitely purchase more puzzles like this from Melissa and Doug.
I just received this puzzle as a gift. Having another older-style Chunky puzzle, I am VERY disappointed in the quality. Instead of the designs being painted on, the front of the pieces are paper stickers and scratch off very easily. The old Chunky puzzles were much better quality and last longer. How disappointing that Melissa and Doug should make such poor quality puzzles!
We have several of these chunky puzzles. This one came with only the front of the puzzle pieces painted. The older ones we have (insects, farm animals, sea creatures, pets) were all completely painted and are fun as free-standing figures,not just puzzle pieces. Otherwise, it's a fun puzzle.
This hand-painted, playfully styled puzzle is sure to catch and keep the attention of curious tots. The thick, chunky wooden puzzle pieces fit neatly into their spots on the colorful board and also stand up for additional pretend play. Full-color pictures are hiding beneath each piece. I have just started reading Sugar Shock. I bought this book after many, many hours looking for a book that would steer me in the right direction. I've enjoyed reading this book so far. I'm only in chapter 4. I'm already getting so much from the book.

Here is a updated: Awesome book! I loved this book. It's more about what sugar does to your body. Tips at the end of the book help give points on how to cut sugar. This is more of a ecucational book that helps gives you a look at what your doing yo yourself. I loved this book!! It really gave me a view of what is happening with my body not just my emotions.
Connie has a website www.sugarshock.com. I hope that you find this not has a solution but a push to help you go towards your goal. Her book gave lots and lots information from people who are well educated in the sugar research.
Sugar Shock I would to have to say is one of the greatest books that I've read to break down my health problems.

Like many other who've written, I was a true sugar addict. I hoarded sweets: twizzlers, cookies, donuts, granola bars, cereal bars, sugary cereals. I ate it all. I was so addicted to it. I had no idea that this sugar was linked to my freqent bouts of irritability, negativity, and brain fog. This is the danger of refined sugar. Refined sugar, having no fiber or protein, goes straight to your blood stream and spikes it. Your brain, getting its form of energy from glucose in your blood, now is disrupted from doing so caused by the spike in the blood stream. Insulin then has to be released to lower the blood sugar level, and many times it becomes too low. So your brain can't function properly with the low sugar. The result-- panic, anxiety, irritability, mood swings, frustration, anger. It can make you go crazy. This is the effects of eating refined sugar.

Before I read this book, I would have never linked to it to refined sugar, but now I know that that along with wheat, pretty much white flour, stripped of all the fiber, is the cause for all these blood-sugar disruptions.

Ever since I got rid of the sugary foods and floury foods, the brain fog, the irritability, the negativity, has all gone. It's all over. For me, it lasted like three years. Now today, I'm pretty much done with refined sugar, no more soda, no more twizzlers (and I was addicted to twizzlers), no more fruit juice, jelly and all the sugary stuff. And the other bad part about refined sugar is it is so addictive. Any time I ate cookies, I had at least 8 with many times going to 15-20 cookies at one sitting. Sometimes I would just finish the whole pack at one sitting. Twizzlers, 20-25 twizzlers at once. Same with cereal, the whole box at once. Refined is so addictive.

I thank Connie Bennett so much for writing this book. This has helped me profusely. The days of irritability are over. Does this mean I don't eat sugar anymore? Of course not. Now I eat sugar in its natural form. Fruit is sweet and being that its loaded with fiber, it doesn't cause blood sugar fluctuations, assuming you eat one at a time, which is the rule for fruit eating. I eat dried fruit, which tastes just like candy, without the bad side effects. Dates, dried strawberries and other fruits are all great alternatives.

My advice to you all: eat natural sugar, what God provides, fruits and dried fruits and raw honey, stevia leaves, or dates to sweeten foods. It's when we eat the unnatural foods, stripped, processed, heated, that consequences result.

Kudos again to Connie Bennett and all who figured out this sugar shock connection.
Connie has done a masterful job of articulating the "hell" caused by sugar addictions. This book is a "must" for every mother who wants to raise a healthy child. Far beyond empty calories and tooth decay, Connie shows how sugar consumption causes chronic inflammation which is destructive to every organ in the body (including the brain!!) I think it's time for "Sugar Shock Block Parties"- let creative Mom's think of great ways to eliminate sugar from their children's diet!

Even though I gave "Sugar Shock" three stars, I want to say up front that I DO like it; it has made clear to me how sugar has messed my life up and I have been in so much denial about my reliance on it. I really am like an alcoholic or crack addict! I have not yet stopped eating sugar - it's scary to think about trying to do it again and failing again, but I am feeling more concern for my health and damn it, I want to live a real life that's not clouded by the stuff.

The reason I gave this book three stars is because of the author's presentation; she frequently reads like an ad, not a book. She'll say things like, "...John showed classic signs of sugar addiction, which I outline on my website and blog site www...." It's so infomercial-y. I tried to overlook this but it kept coming up through the book. Although this doesn't dilute her message, the constant referral to her web site and commercial references like that make her sound like she's more interestedin marketing her company and herself than she is in her message. In other words, she can be annoying.

Also, I felt she spent too much time on how sugar is ruining our lives - but little space on how to practically eliminate it. She offers a list of seven tips on getting sugar out of your life but if I am a sugar addict, I need more than that.

I would have liked to have learned more about her own experience than just about when her dr told her to drop sugar and she did and it changed her life. I would like to have heard about if she had sugar withdrawals so strong she thought she would scream or if she ever experiences cravings now. She doesn't really talk about herself much apart from that initial "burning bush"-like moment at her dr's office -- which doesn't inspire me much. I've had those moments, too, and make a great start but then fail.

I do believe her when she says it changed her life but for most addicts of any kind (note I said, "most") it's not just "I decided to stop and I did and my life is SO much better!" That's the issue with addicts: we all WANT to stop but it's hard to do it, so we feel trapped. HOW do we get out?

On another note, I was surprised to see an endorsement on the book and a review here from Jimmy "Livin' La Vida Low Carb" only because on his web site he seems really into artificial sweeteners (which I am, too) but the author of this book does not recommend them at all. Whatever!

The authors of "Sugar Shock" make a convincing case to significantly cut down, if not completely eliminate, sugar from our diets. I'm going to try it for sure.

Sweet Revenge: Sisterhood Series #5 (Revenge of the Sisterhood). I have read the original Sisterhood series and can't wait to continue the rest of the series. Add this to your list of exciting pleasure reading for the summer. The Sisterhood will keep you on the edge of your seat, page by page. Good reading.

COULD NOT. ENJOY THE REPORTER TRYING TO FIND OUT WHAT IS GOING ON
AND SEEMS TO FAIL.
If you are a thinking person, this book is not for you. I could not finish the book, it just could not draw me in. It is comparable to a daytime soap opera, and I am not a fan of soap operas.
I find it hard to believe that people will seek another four books in this series if they are as frivolous and trivial as this. There were inconsistancies in the plot i.e the party invitation that was supposed to be delivered late, and none of the characters had depth, I certainly had no empathy with any of them. I waited in vain for the plot to develop and improve. Fortunately I was listening to an audio version so because I walking for exercise the time wasnt totally lost.
This series of books on the Sisterhood is impossible to lay down. I bought all the ones I could find and read them all in about a week. I also went and bought the two that follow it that involves the same characters. I am getting ready to mail them to my sister so she can enjoy them also

Written in response to her students desire for lengthy and important parts when reading classroom plays, Laura Amy Schlitz created this book of seventeen short plays to share the life experiences of 23 young characters from Medieval England. What a fun read! Her love of historical fiction was evident as she interspersed some background information regarding the cultural history of this Medieval time period she shares with us. I learned a lot while being entertained and those are the two main purposes of reading. How marvelous that Schiltz was able to incorporate both!

Writing for the students at her school, this librarian-turned-author has created a collection of miniature plays for her students to perform. While chronicling the daily lives of each character, the monologues (and dialogues)give the reader insight into what the young characters might have experienced and felt almost 800 years ago.

While allowing us a historically correct view of adolescent life in a Medieval village, we see that that the human condition really hasn't changed all that much in the last 7 centuries. These characters deal with many of the same issues as teens of today; social status, parenting issues, friends, unrealized dreams, are all topics of these heartfelt miniature plays.

Collection of twenty-two interconnected tales constructed to teach a middle school class about medieval life. Very nicely done, focusing on the characters and their daily lives, but still weaving in plot threads here and there that often stretch across monologues. Great for learning about medieval life, of course, but also enjoyable just for the reading, which is probably part of the reason it took home a Newbery Award a couple of years ago. Highly recommended. ****

This Newbery Award winning book may not be a first choice for kids who are brousing for a good read, but they would be missing out on a really good book. The voices in this medieval masterpiece are so authentic, you can practically hear their mothers' calling them. The villain's daughter, the knight's son, the glassblower's two youngsters and all the rest bring the reader into the 13th century as if the characters were speaking to you. And in a sense, they are, for this book is a series of monologues spoken by 26 young people from a medieval village. This can be a play, a reader's theatre presentation, a read-aloud, or a silent reading selection. Children as young as third grade can grasp the meaning of the lives these young people led (although vocabulary and concepts are challenging for the young readers). A fine selection for grades four through eight and higher. This book is truly worthy of its award.
Laura Schlitz takes the reader on a fabulous, creative journey of a Medieval Village through poetry, stories, and dramatic plays. Through the words of the character are themselves the author teaches the reader about the lifestyle, vocabulary, culture, and beliefs of the medieval era as well as different grammatical styles, writing styles, and techniques of old and modern times. By weaving in and out of the character's lives the reader begins to take on a sense of what really happened.
As the author weaves the reader into the daily activities and lifestyles of different medieval people, the illustrator reinforces the feeling of old by illustrating in a similar style. This book truly captures the feeling and the moment while preserving it for generations to come, making it a true Newbery Medal winner and contribution to the literary world.

Okay, so maybe it's not the best Carmageddon game ever, but it deserves way more than 1 star. I was addicted to this game for months on the computer, played it nonstop. Who cares about the graphics, it's got hilariously outrageous physics, total destruction, hilarious sound effects and splattering of zombies... what more is there to want?
I love this series. I have all the other games. However, Carmageddon 64 is the dumpest game I've ever played on the N64. The graphics are poor looking. The sounds are non-existing. There's also a horrible frame-rate problem. Most video game review websites gave this game a 2 out of 10, and that's being generous. As a fan, I highly recommend Carmageddon 2 instead of this. You'll kick yourself for buying this game and wasting valuable seconds playing it.
