This is my first vacuum food saver and I'm delighted with it! I bought it a few months ago from Amazon. I tried to buy this at my local big chain stores but no one had this model, so I might have paid more, not sure. But had no choice.

It was easy to set up and use--even for a novice. I was sealing my first bag within minutes. I've made a few mistakes so here are some things you might want to know.
1) If you buy the rolls and make your own bags, don't cut where the cutter falls naturally--roll it back a little by hand to make a closer cut. That'll save you some money as you go, since cutting where if falls leaves a big wasted piece.
2) The machine defaults to the dry setting, but nearly everything I seal is moist, so I have to remember to manually change it.
3) When sealing moist foods, the vacuum may suck up some juices and even though it appears to be sealed, after putting it away I find it's sometimes lost the seal. The book says you can just take it out of the bag and seal it up again in a new bag, but that wastes a bag. What works well for me is when I'm sealing moist foods and concerned about the seal, I trim along the original seal I just did, stick it back in and just seal it again about an inch further down--without the vacuum. That way I have a bag that is sealed twice. If the first seal has moisture in it and doesn't hold, the second one probably will.
4) I don't have any of the fancy vacuum containers, but what I do instead with soups and other liquid-y things is freeze them first in Tupperware or something similar. As soon as they're frozen, I turn them upside down under hot water for a few seconds to get the soup to release from the container, then I quickly seal up the frozen block of soup and stick it back in the freezer. If you heat soups, etc. in the microwave, you can even freeze soup in the bowl you're going to use in the micro (don't fill the bowl more than 3/4 full) so that it'll be in the right shape. Just cut the bag, drop the frozen soup into the bowl and heat it up in the micro.
5) I really love the FoodSaver for dry stuff. I dry my own foods and also buy dried foods in bulk, then divide them into smaller portions and seal them. This is especially great for nuts which tend to go rancid really fast. I started buying them in bulk because my local grocery's nuts are always rancid, even when they're well within their expiration date. I recommend Sunny Land Farms--my family has been buying nuts in bulk from then for many years and they're simply the best. Plus they have free shipping. [...]
6) It's probably not cost-effective to use this for leftovers and things that you're only going to put in the freezer for a few days. I use mine for longer-term storage, like when I make a big batch of something and know that we may eat some later in the week but don't want to eat it again for awhile.
7) I freeze whole meals in one bag. I slice the meat and put it in, add the vegetables next, then potatoes, rice, or stuffing. I do it in that order so that the moisture runs through the rice or stuffing during the vacuuming process and not as much moisture gets sucked out, which interferes with the seal. These meals-in-a-bag are great for other family members to heat up when I'm not home to cook dinner.

Vacuum storage is great -- allows bulk purchases to be kept for extended periods. But don't try to sterilize all the parts of a canister. The container part can be safely cleaned in a dishwasher, as stated by the manufacturer. The maker also states that the lid must be hand-washed, but says nothing about the wash temperature. So when a refrigerated guacamole turned brown (for the first time), I knew the lid had become contaminated. I also knew that any temp under about 170F would not kill most bugs (like well-done hamburger). So I immersed the small caps from the inside of the lid in 180F water for 10 minutes. The caps distorted and were useless. The lids can still be used, but I can't rely on the safety of the container contents. Wonder how the maker sterilizes them.
I have been using Food saver/Tillia products for many years they are well made and have saved food and money; however, with each new model the distance between the ends of the bags you make and the sealing point get stretched out longer and longer. This machine (V2840) was the first I noticed this built in self serving, land fill generating and not to mention consumer pocket book wasting feature. On this model you (fortunately) can seal one end on the very end; the vacuum and seal end (unfortunately) is a different story; Food saver/Tillia has stretched the vacuum tray away from the sealing strip so every time you vacuum and seal you lose .8 inches as a wasted tail (the first noticeable sign of greed). The older machines are not like this; on obvious attempt at profit by forcing the consumer to waste product, create more landfill and the obvious; corporate profit by stealing from their clients!
Yesterday, I purchased the newest latest model, the Food saver (V3825) Warning! the 3840 3860 are the same at wasting material!, these models are really something, you simply push insert the end of the bag into the bag end opening, press SEAL or VACUUN AND SEAL and totally automatically does it all!; sitting down?, either setting you just lost 2 full inches of the bag that you just made; let's do the math; a standard 22 foot roll of bag material should make, let's say 30 bags; minus sixty, one inch wasted tails. So 5 feet or 25% of the 22 feet is Food saver's profit, our loss and a forced environmental misfortune, not to mention a blatant and inappropriate attempt at ripping of this planet. I don't know about you; but, I take exception to stealing. This machine is going back today! I will find an older model that gives one more control of the sealing, my pocketbook this planet :)

This product works exactly as promised. We buy in bulk and then repackage things in smaller units. This saves us money because things do not spoil. The machine is very easy to use. We shopped around a lot before we purchased our unit. Amazon had the best price.
If you are looking for a foodsaver with a nice design at a reasonable price, this is the one to buy. Do not go for anything older for a few dollars less. My first vacuum sealer was really cheap and of course couldn't do anything properly. I am glad for bying this one,it was a lesson not to compromise with junk for a better price..

These filters work just fine and last as long because they are the same filters I have purchased from iRobot, but they are cheaper.

I buy all my filters from Amazon.com unless they are running a special give away at iRobot.
I bought these for My Roomba Model 4130, I try to clean these up before I replace them so they will last much longer. Fast shipping and great service.
These filters work great. I like to use a clean one each time I run my Roomba and now I can just switch them out. Then when several get dirty I hand wash them, let them air dry, and reuse.
This filter works like it's supposed to. Nothing much more than that. Just pop it in. Clean it often and it will last longer than the specs say it will.
I have never received the product and try to get an refund for 2 weeks now.

I had researched in depth to find the right floor cleaner for our home. It was so disappointing when I used this for the first time. After vacuuming the floor, I still had to sweep. The vacuum hardly picked up any of the stuff on the floor. Washing the floor was better, but still not what I had anticipated. I think that maybe the machine wasn't working properly, because I expected more from this Hoover product. Returned cleaner to Amazon and received full refund.
I absolutely love this FloorMate. I use it on my tile as well as my laminate floors and they have never been so clean. I particularly like the fact that I am not using a mop and having to dip into a bucket of dirty water. With the floor mate, it squirts clean water/cleaner and I am not just spreading around dirt on my floors. EXCELLENT PURCHASE!
I am very happy with the product but very disatified with Amazon. My cleaner arrived without a handle. I spent several days talking to Hoover before I finally received one. Amazon needs to check the contents of their boxes.
I'd read reviews carefully before I bought this item.
I just thought that it would be better than carrying bucket and wet mop all over my place anyway and I was right on this part.

The machine is lighter than I thought and it actually scrubbs - much better than rubbing with a mob or kneeling down with a brush. All parts are nice and compact.
However there are several things I want to point out.
First, I thought the small hand-held brushes(small flat and one for corners) also have motorised scrubbing function but they don't. They are just brush with squeezee which can suck.
Second, one of the four brushes sticks out so the others do not contact floor properly.
Third, when the dirty water fills a third of the thank, it starts leaking, so the tank should be emptied often.
Forth, when I found missing corner or the machin cannot reach the borders, I have to attatch the flexible hose and extended arm. Unless go over all the borders and sides seperately, it's a big hassel going back and forth with the machine and hose.

I hope the electric cord can be hidden inside the machine with spring winder as the way many other vacuum cleaners made so that the bunch of cord would not fall on the wet floor.

We have owned the 800 for about a year now. I am unsatisfied with its performance.

My biggest complaint: the reservoirs are much too small. I don't have that much floor that needs mopping, and yet I have to stop repeatedly to empty the dirty water and put clean water in. A point in its favor, adding water and dumping the dirty water is pretty easy.

My next problem is with the plunger in the dirty water reservoir. This is what stops the suction when the container is full. The problem is that jostling will caused the plunger to set even though it isn't full yet. You have to turn off the unit to fit this. It is very annoying.

I've actually went back to regular mops, and have experimented with using my carpet cleaner vac instead. It seems to work much better, and its reservoir is huge, no unnecessary stopping.

I'm actually surprised this thing is getting as high a reviews as it is.

If your like me and the thought of 3 hot japanese girls rocking you so hard its like being drop kicked in the face and landing in a pile of broken glass then rocking you so hard you randomly punch someone in the face then RBV is a must! This is one of the loudest albums I've ever heard! Full of nonstop energy and catchy songs. The first two songs-Roller Coaster and Nightmare-are pure hard unrelenting rock! The next two (my favorites)-I'm just a beat girl and Gimme Culture-are fast catchy punk songs that are impossible not to sing along with! Now before you say to yourself, "Yeah Panda your the man and anything you say is obviously fact. I'm going to buy this album right now!" let me warn you this album is not for everyone. There is heavy distortion on this album, much like a Guitar Wolf cd, that is usually love/hate for most people. I love it, I think it works great on this album. If your looking for japanese hard girl rock with out the distortion look for RBV's first album "Killer Dust" although its hard to find.

I find this album to be unlistenable simply because the sound is so horribly distorted. This 3-girl Japanese intense punk band is promoted as a "loud punk rock band," so if "loud" means "distorted" to you, you might like this, but I prefer my loud music to be clear.

These are a great clamp but you can buy them for half the price at many other places.
Um, its a clamp. It holds things tight. Sorry I can't really write a paragraph on a hose clamp. It does what its supposed to do, and it does it well.
I used a whole lot of these when I set up my dust collection system, and I can say that the hype is justified. These thin metal clamps slip between the ridges on the flex hose perfectly to create a very air-tight connection. I also appreciate the phillips head on the tightening bolt - it makes it a lot easier to crank these down quickly with a drill/driver.

A word of advice - I found these clamps to be A LOT cheaper at Menards.
I see that Amazon lowered the price back down to $1. At the time of my original review, they price was up around $4...hence the 1 star. The product itself works as advertised, so I give it 5 stars.
These clamps work well on ventilation hose that you would use in a dust collection system. They are much cheaper and they clamp tight. Regular hose clamps slip because of the ribs in the hose.

I just bought this on sale at Lowe's for $99. The battery and charger alone separately are over $100 so this struck me as a deal. This thing is like a dustbuster on steroids. I use it to pick up stray leaves and other garbage that finds it's way around the house, and it puts every other handheld vac to shame. It's not as light as your average handheld due to the big battery, but boy does it pick stuff up. Loud? Nah. Louder than a dustbuster but not unbearable, especially considering the job it does. I have big shop vacs also, but this one is just so handy for little jobs, and the battery also goes into the 2 gal Dewalt I have which is great for the car, boat, airplane, whatever. If you're looking for something handy and powerful for small jobs around the house, this is the gizmo. You won't regret it.
I bought this vac to use outside when I don't want to drag out the big Shop-Vac. I especially wanted a cordless wet-vac I could use when I'm cleaning out my little fountain. I was hoping I could also use it to suck small wet leaves and stuff out of patio corners.

When it works, it does a good job on the fountain. But it's tempramental. The filter gets clogged easily, and (as others have said) it doesn't hold much liquid---so the fountain has to be almost TOTALLY empty before I even start. I could live with that, but it doesn't always work properly when I replace the tank after I've emptied it. Then I have to fool with it.

As for using it on leaves (even tiny ones and "crumbs"), forget it. The diameter of the hose is so small that practically EVERYTHING gets stuck in it, especially damp leaves. I like the feature of being able to remove the hose from the nozzle----and frankly that nozzle is such an awkward shape&size that I almost never use it anyway.

I expected better from DeWalt.
I purchased the DeWalt vac to replace an older Dustbuster. The power of the DeWalt is considerably better. The hose function works well and is great for corners and tight areas. Many reviews raise concern about noise. Here is a comparison measured at 36 inches:

Hearing damage occurs at 90dB over time. Ear muffs for hearing protections store nicely on the handle of the DeWalt and, I believe, should be used. I do not find this to be particularly inconvenient. I own other DeWalt tools and have found them to be consistently high quality. This one is no exception.
Because it was a DeWalt, and rather pricey, I bought this unit expecting it to basically be a hand-held Shop-Vac, which is not quite the case. I suspect that my expectations were too high. It will easily lift all kinds of wood and metal chips, even fairly heavy ones, off a smooth surface, but if you're trying to get a winter's worth of grit out of your car carpets, a plug-in shop-vac still does a better job....
It's the best little vac I've used.
I sorta get people's issue with the high pitch noise, but to me , it isn't loud...my bigger shop vacs are FAR louder.
But your 3 x the distance from them, so I guess it just seems louder to others.. I don't find a problem with the noise.

PROS....
Easy to get the trash tray off and dump it.
Uses a REAL filter... the type that works best and more efficiently on full size shop vacs.
Picks up all sorts of stuff easily.
I have other 18v dewalt tools, so a no brainer addition for me.
But my wife loves it for spot clean ups in the kitchen and bathrooms.

CONS:
I wish the charger had provisions for wall mounting as well as some sort of wall mount for the vac.. that would make it soo much easier for general use around the house.

A wet/dry shop vacuum is great, but they can be unwieldy, cumbersome and hard to haul around. DEWALT's combined the cleanup power of a wet/dry with the convenience of a cordless vac and come up with this innovative machine.

It's powered by the same heavy-duty 18-volt battery that runs your drills and other cordless tools, so you know it's got oomph, but it's light and super-portable, making it easy to clean up just about anywhere you're short on space or electricity. We like the flexibility to use either the utility nozzle for floor spills and messes, but the 5-foot rubber hose comes in really handy for cabinet installers, who can set the unit on the countertop and clean out all the shavings and sawdust from new cabinets, even on the top shelves, using the hose.

It picks up extremely well on both wet and dry material, though the tank is just half a gallon and so fills up fairly fast. But to that end, the tank removes and empties so easily that it wasn't an issue for us. The filter is a breeze to rinse clean, too.

A downside? It's loud. But what shop vacuum isn't? We're pretty impressed with this little unit for its convenience and big power.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste
