(More belts...)
(better belts)
(my vacuum is working again! thanks)
(Finally found it) What can one say about a belt; it either works or it doesn't.
I've noticed complaints about the belt breaking frequently on the Eureka 4870. I think that is due in large part to the manual operation of the height adjustment.
The height should be adjusted to the highest level that actually works on the carpet being vacuumed. If it is adjusted too low, the resistance from the carpet versus the powerful motor on the 4870 stresses the belt too much and it breaks.
I've used the same belt on my 4870 for well over two years and it seems to be as good as new. I have a fairly thick carpet and adjust the height to the next to the highest position for most of the carpeted areas of the house. We have some rugs and other carpeted areas where I need to drop the height down, but usually the third level down from the highest works well on those. Properly adjusted the 4870 cleans very well, fluffs up the carpet, and extends the belt life.
The bottom line on this is if you don't stress the belt by adjusting the height too low for the carpet; the belt can last for years. For some reason my Eureka upright has been going through belts on a regular basis. The vacuuming is nothing out of the ordinary but the previous belts that came with the vacuum just shred apart. Hopefully this new batch will more staying power. I can't rate the new belts since I just installed one so the 5 star rating is for the quick shipping. the extened life belts are great. less time spent changing belts. more time to vacuum. I was happy to finally be able to find a belt for my vac. Thanks! After wasting several hours going from one store to another (all licensed Eureka dealers BTW) I finally had the good sense to search for this on Amazon. Bingo. Five minutes later I have what I need. I little pricey for a strip of rubber, but cheaper than a new vacuum. (Bissell Pet Hair Eraser Model 3920)
(Don't buy this product)
(For what it's worth...)
(This vacuum sucks - cat hair!) I have two long-haired cats and was in need of a vacuum, so the Pet Hair Eraser seemed perfect. I loved this vacuum at first. It was sooo powerful that it felt self-propelled. The canister filled up in no time. Even the attachments worked well. But then it started...
About four months after I bought it, it started making a horribly loud noise. This was followed by smoke and a broken belt. I replaced the belt, and the belt once again broke. I took the vacuum apart and examined the brush, and saw the problem- the brush had become off-centered in its holder, causing it to jam. The plastic ends were warped into more of an oval than a circle, thus the problem. I ordered a new brush, and once again had a great vacuum. Until it happened again, about a month after replacing it the first time. This wouldn't have been as big of an issue had I not misplaced the receipt and therefore couldn't get anything covered under the warranty. I called the vacuum store in town, and the first thing the guy said when I told him which vacuum I had was "Oh, I'm sorry." Apparently I'm not the only one with issues.
Long story short, I finally gave this away. I suppose I could have kept replacing the brush, but it only makes sense to do that so many times. I ended up buying what appears to be the same vacuum minus the pet attachments (which I kept from my old one anyway) at Costco, mainly for their return policy, should this happen again.
Summary- This vacuum is fantastic when it works, but breaking twice in five months is too often. I've had a Pet Hair Eraser for almost a year. I'm still waiting to like it. Unfortunately, every time I turn it on, I hate it a little more. I like the onboard tools and the see-thru dust cup. I wish I could say more positive things but I just can't think of anything else. And I could go on about what I don't like - and as I just got done wrestling with the dumb thing I will list some: One of my biggest beefs is it's pick up ability. I'm sure it must have some but between the inconsistently spinning beater brush (regardless of rug setting)and the glorified lint brush attached to the front that smears the pet hair around more than it picks it up. That lint brush also prevents vacuuming close to baseboards and such. It's heavy, I could deal with that but the machine is also very poorly balanced so it doesn't take much to tip it over. Especially an issue if your stretching the hose to vacuum the stairs. There's more, I'll spare you...This Bissell is soon headed for the curb...
This vacuum is a piece of junk. I have had to replace the belt 6 times in the last 3 months since I bought it. It is awkward and clumsy. We have hard wood floors throughout our house and just area rugs and it takes longer with this piece of junk to vacuum than it did when we had wall to wall carpet. We have 2 goldens that shed....don't buy this vacuum and hope that it works more than a month. The first day I used this vaccum, I thought it was terrific. Our old vacuum, a hover Windtunnel (which was no slouch of a vacuum) died on me and I got this one as a replacement. It removed a LOOOOOTTTT of cat hair from my carpet. I mean it was scary, I had to empty the cup three times. It continued to be great the rest of the week, and then...
First, it got all clogged up with cat hair. This happened several times. Then the filter dealy got clogged up. And now, it just doesn't work very well. I can't find any more clogs, but the thing doesn't pick up as much dirt as it used to. Also, the brush doesn't spin very robustly- it doesn't take much to stop it. I think something may have fallen off the spindle that drives the belt, because now it's just a bare metal rod that lets the belt slip easily.
I don't know, I might have just gotten a lemon and it may be a great vacuum for other people, but it isn't working too well for me right now. I'm disappointed with the build quality. After reviewing vacuum cleaners on Consumner Reports, I decided to get the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser. It met nearly all the requirements I was looking for. First and foremost, excellent at picking up pet hair. This is very important in my house as we have 2 furry creatures and 1 in particular that sheds pounds of fur every year. Second, it needed to be good on carpet and bare floors and third, it needed to be lightweight so that I could use it without getting a hernia. The vacuum propels itself forward and is easy to pull back. The vacuum also has good attachments that really work. The only negative is that when you are using the attachements, the vacuum continues to suck air at the bottom. Other than that, this is a great vacuum for a decent price. I am super happy to erase the pet hair in my home using this vacuum. (Wonderful)
(I love this broom!!!)
(Dirt Devil Rechargeable Broom)
(sort of works, but it's easier to just sweep) Don't waste your money on anything from Dirt Devil, Royal, or Hoover. After less than two years, the rubber gasket that seals the dirt cup with the motor housing has disintegrated; making this unit worthless (no suction).
According to the Dirt Devil company... this part is unavailable at any price; even though this is a current model!!!
Not to mention it did not work all that well even when new. I have two children, 23 months and 10 months, and this product is wonderful! I try to maximize my time with them as much as possible, and this product does this for me. Its fast and easy. As long as I keep the filter clean there's no problem. I am getting this for everyone on my Christmas list!!! I love this broom. I was looking for something to pick up all the dog hair from our 2 dogs. I hated lugging out my big loud vacuum cleaner. The Dirt Devil Broom Vac lets me clean up quickly on a daily basis. Easy to clean too! It does just what the description says it will do and very well. I would recommend this. This rechargeable broom vacuum works okay. It is somewhat heavy and awkward to maneuver. Also, the area where it actually vacuums is a small square in the middle of the broom, so you have to have the hole over your dirt/debris in order for it to actually vacuum. It just seemed easier to use a regular broom and dust pan. I was disappointed and ended up giving it to Goodwill.
An inexpensive alternative to brooms, dustpans, and bending over to get at the last of the dirt pile, the cordless, bagless, yet surprisingly effective Dirt Devil Broom Vacuum is well suited to heavy-duty sweeping and vacuuming on hard-surface floors of all types. Where it really shines, though, is for quick touch-ups--the dog-hair tumbleweeds and stray Cheerios of everyday life. 60% more powerful than the Broom Vacuum's last incarnation, its 9.6 volt motor has plenty of juice for sucking up debris from tile, laminate, hardwoods, and linoleum. Users with bad backs will appreciate the foot-activated on/off switch, and at just 3-1/2 pounds, without cumbersome power cords to trip over, the unit maneuvers with admirable ease. It's easy to see when the transparent dirt cup is full, and the canister snaps off easily for emptying. Brushed-edge cleaning extends the unit's reach, and the 10-inch-wide nozzle feels more like a broom than a skinny stick vacuum. To recharge, simply plug into the included adaptor when storing. The Dirt Devil Broom Vacuum is not intended for wet spills or carpeted surfaces, but for dry messes, crumbs, and dust, it's a solid value and so easy to use that you just might find yourself sweeping the kitchen floor more often. Sweep up the kitchen floor in record time without repetitive bending with this lightweight broom vacuum from Dirt Devil. The 9.6-volt broom vacuum sucks up dirt and debris from hardwood and other bare floors with ample power, eliminating any need for a dustpan or the accompanying bending over. The cordless broom vacuum sucks up dirt through a 10-inch wide nozzle. Debris travels through a replaceable filter to collect in a dirt cup. The dirt cup removes from the broom vacuum with ease and is see-through for external fullness monitoring. A foot switch engages the broom vacuum's motor. To operate the broom vacuum, employ a standard sweeping movement. The broom vacuum is designed to tackle dry spills rather than puddles and soggy messe An inexpensive alternative to brooms, dustpans, and bending over to get at the last of the dirt pile, the cordless, bagless, yet surprisingly effective Dirt Devil Broom Vacuum is well suited to heavy-duty sweeping and vacuuming on hard-surface floors of all types. I mean no offence, but have you heard of Tarsis? That was the actual album you just reviewed. Vacuum is the name of the album but you seem to either have it mixed up with something totally different, or u actually think that this is the name of the artist/artists. Just one question - did you even listen to the album? In case you did and think it's THAT bad, then psy might not be your thing. Go dig in another genre, that's all I can say cuz I think this is FIINE. Know Tarsis can do some good stuff, so I'll put this one album here, somwhere in the middle. I'd have to say the"Melt"-album is better in comparison.

customer 's review (Great Filter-great price!)
(Generic, not genuine.)
(Great replacement)
(NOT Original Dirt Devil Filters)
(Hepa filters) Finding filters are always a pain to track down for your vacuum cleaner. The product works great to pull and attract most big pieces of dirt, dust, sand, etc. The product lasts a good long time and we have one child who makes many, many messes (food underneath the kitchen table on the rugs, etc.). We use the vacuum approx. 2 times per week, short uses each time then one long use per month.
Very happy! when I was buying it, the product description said "Genuine Dirt Devil". It's not. It's generic and it's made by Envirocare Technologies. The filter material feels different from the original, but it did fit the vacuum. We'll see how it performs later. If you are looking for a scientific breakdown of particles in the air after a vacuum, this isn't your review. If you are looking for first hand knowledge of the difference between an old filter and a new one, read on! I have a dirt devil vacuum cleaner. I also have a dog and a cat. Luckily I don't smoke! After quite some time, I will be honest, I decided it was time to replace the filter. I'd vacuum the house and you could smell the fact that the filter was no longer truly working. I put one of these in, vacuumed and wow! Why did I wait so long? These replacement filters were a little smaller than the original and I thought at first that maybe they were the wrong ones but they weren't. I price searched and here at Amazon I found them to be the cheapest. Shipping was quick and hey, there's two of them! Do yourself a favor, change your filter now!! I received the two air filters and they are not original Dirt Devil HEPA filters. I tried one filter and it is not correct since the vacuum does not work with it (loss of suction, burning smell from the vacuum, and the filter has a plastic coating which feels completely different from the regular "paper" feel of the filter I bought in the store last year). I even saved my older original Dirt Devil filter and the vacuum works fine with it (before and after trying the filter they sent). Great deal on the filters. Could not find these anywhere at a local store. Tired of looking for F1 filters and paying those high prices? This offer is for 2 Dirt Devil F1 filters. Indoor air filter removes 99.97-percent of airborne matter down to 0.3 microns in size Helps remove dust, pollen, mold spores, smoke, dust mites, and other allergens Ideal for people who suffer from asthmatic or other respiration-related irritations Unique technology captures solid particles, which are not allowed back into the air Fits most Dirt Devil bagless upright models made in March 2003 and later. This is the F1 Filter. Most Dirt Devils give you this reference number on the back or the bottom of the machine. This filter is a tapered filter (it is larger on the bottom, where the hole is, than on the top). The total length is 8" it measures 3.25" in diameter on the bottom where the hole is with a 1.75" diameter hole. It measures 2.75" in diameter at the top. If your filter is the one that is totally cylindrical (top and bottom are the same size) this one will not fit. Email service@vacshack.com if you are in doubt about which filter fits your vacuum. Please include your vacuum cleaner's model number and mfg. code in the email. We will be happy to do the research for you. Rerations < 2 DIRT DEVIL TURBO VISION HEPA FILTERS >

(extend filter life and time between cleanings)
(Interesting filter upgrade system for Fein)
(Way too expensive, but they work well.)
(Fein Vacuum Bags..) These filter bags go a long way in extending the life of my Fein motor bearings These bags, although a bit pricey, extend filter life and greatly extend the amount of time you can use the vacuum before having to empty it out. They make a world of difference! That's because they act like a whole extra filter. To save money, I have found that you can empty them out (over a dumpster, wearing a dust mask) once or twice and reuse, before disposing of them. I got interested in upgrading my Fein vacuum to the HEPA filter when warned on FineHomebuilding's "Breaktime" that drywall dust would blow the motor. After that I found evidence some finer dust was getting through the standard issue filter.
I was tempted to buy a suggested "clone" HEPA cartridge for a lot less and use it along with the existing filter. Instead I trusted the guys that made this great vacuum and spent a lot of money for the little Fein HEPA cartridge (80$) filter (Fein really knows how to charge for their accessories), the accessory to hold it in, and 3 bags, but now I am happy with it. I went into it blind because I couldn't find any explanation of how it all worked. I was imagining a paper sack over the HEPA cartridge. It's a lot different than that.
The paper bag is quite a piece of work. It has a rubber rimmed opening that "snaps" over the intake "rib" and then the paper bag circles inside the vacuum tank - circling the HEPA filter cartridge. My understanding is that the HEPA cartridge is supposed to only be a "last check" on fine dust.
The vacuum doesn't seem to have diminished in suction. I AM going to try to empty and reuse these bags - blow them out with air and roll-staple them with a bag stapler. Maybe also tape them with Gorilla tape. So I am cheap but happy with the system so far. It all seems to have the quality built in.
Pricey, but they do last and work very well with very minimal leakage. Fein makes a good product. I get them in qualtity to lessen the bite.
Mr. FEIN: Please, don't gouge us? There is a lot of competition out there... and little loyalty! Disposable bags make the already great Fein Vac even better. No more dusty dump with the vacuum if full 3PK 9-55-13 DUST BAGS: Replacement dust bags for Fein vacuums. For dry pickup only. Must use with Fein vac listed below. 3 bags per vac.
