The dirt sensor is a real working feature and not a gimmick. I thought my old Kenmore was doing a fine job with carpet but after using this vacuum I didn't realize just how much dirt was left behind. I also use this vacuum on my hardwood and tile floors without any dirt scatter. The trick is to not have the brush down to where it's touching the floor. Just keep it off the tile or hardwood and let the suction pull the dirt and hair into it. I got the 20' stretch hose for the floors too and a wide floor brush which you can find after market. This will work the best of course but beware that the stretch hose does not connect to the shorter hose that comes with the vacuum itself. You must remove the short hose first and then install the stretch hose which is a little inconvenient. But for the money you can't beat this vacuum! It's a good vacuum. Better to not bother with the self propelled unless you feel you really need it. Don't go to Sears. I ordered online for a store pickup. The website assured that there would be an email within 2 hours. Never came. The website also said that they had it in stock. They didn't. Get this - the guy at the store told me it is Sears policy to claim they have one in stock, but that when they say "one", they are talking about the floor model! They are just trying to get you into the store to try to sell you something else. Hmmm....what do you call that? Oh yeah, "bait and switch". There was NO WAY I was going to buying from Sears after this experience. I never received an email confirming the order OR the cancelation though I actually SPOKE to someone both days who assured me they were sending an email. It's hard to evaluate a vacuum cleaner because as a man I barely know what its even used for- haha but more seriously few people really get the chance to compare other vacuums and it's hard to realistically compare dirt levels in a newly-vacuumed carpet. But I can say that after 6 months of almost weekly use I'm very pleased with the performance of my 'Hoover Windtunnel bagged Upright'. I like the following: * Great suction * Effective - the carpet looks clean and almost new again after use. (Isn't that the more important measure of a cleaner)? * Light but not overly so (good, heavy components) * Easy to carry up stairs, not too hard to use on the stairs -- With one hand grab the 'handle' on the upper front section and let it ride across 3/4 of the stair .... to the edge (skip the opposite edge). Lift down/up to the next stair. repeat. -- Once you reach the last step, face the cleaner the other way and redo each step. -- I will probably buy a stair-specific vacuum that isn't as heavy since we have quite a few stairs .... and they get dirty faster than other carpet. * Although it's mostly plastic and the on/off slider button appears destined to break over time, the cleaner overall looks and feels solidly built. * Near the quality of a Dyson but half the cost. I don't like the following: * Some small difficulty in adjusting the beater bar height. I can't just flick it with my toe to adjust. * Almost every time I vacuum, I bump a tool off the back. * The small cover for tools marked 'easily removable' in the manual is anything but.. * I cannot find cloth bags like the one that came with the cleaner. Wish I could. It works great! I did a fair amount of research including consumer report and hundreds of reviewer comments before buying. I am confident that I got the one of the best cleaners for under two hundred. I hope you'll feel the same. have a 3k sq ft house. Does a pretty good job. I have only used this a couple of times but when I first got it I tried using the Rotozip without it and then with it.. The difference in dust laying around afterwards is astounding!! The other things I liked about it is that it replaces the foot that comes with the Rotozip and is clear plastic which provides much better visibility of the cut. The depth adjustments are also easier to make with two wing nuts on the side and calibrations molded into the body. Also, even without a vac attached it diverts most of the dirt out the vac pickup and away from your face. I only gave it 4 stars because I haven't used it enough to really wring it out. The C20-E bag is for vacuum types MC-CG4xx and is probably well suited for those machines. You will see this if you enlarge the item image. The Panasonic MC-CG973 is a larger vacuum and uses the larger type C-5 bag. The MC-CG973 came with one type C-5. I ordered the Amazon recommended bags when I ordered the vacuum. Type C-20E arrived and were obviously the wrong bags. Sears sells a variety of bags for this machine some are available from sellers on Amazon. Look for Kenmore 5055. Thats not obvious when you first look at this page. And for a little over a dollar a bag they are a good value. This product is used for cleaning the humidifier and removing the mineral build up. It works well. The price was excellent and it was delivered fast. This cleaner did exactly what was expected. I had some green mold like substance in my humidifier (Air-O-Swiss). After using this product, the mold was gone and so was a moldy odor that was coming from the device. Follow the insturctions on the package, and it works great. Comes is a package of 3. This is a 0 star. I never received my product from this company. Lots of complaints to them. It's great lighting, but here's what they don't tell you in their misleading ads. 1. Yes, it may be a 13W bulb, but the accompanying transformer is very hot, and Ott's service department refused to inform me how much electricity and heat this hot transformer generates. 2. The transformer is slightly heated even when the light is turned off! What a waste of electricity! 3. Full spectrum light health benefits, if any, are useful only if the ultraviolet rays are seen. But, there is some evidence that macular degeneration (blindness) can result from seeing light that are more bluish, and I would suspect even more so with bluish and ultraviolet. I noticed some deterioration of my vision (more likely due to aging), called Ott's service department, and they denied that there are any possible eye health detrimental effects. How can they possibly know, when there are those suffering from macular degeneration who claim to the contrary. If I ever get macular degeneration, Ott will certainly be blamed, because I worked with the Ott lite very closely. The thing I really liked about it is that the physics doesn't take a backseat to formalism, the same effect is also often examined from several different angles. Another nice this is that the effects of the electromagnetic vacuum fluctuations on atoms is often considered. The book opens with a chapter covering some of the earlier work that hinted at vacuum fluctuations, for example blackbody radiation and spontaneous emissions. Following this the vacuum fluctuations of the electromagnetic field are derived. Then some interesting physics is presented. The Casimir effect is covered briefly. The Casimir effect is returned to frequently throughout the book, in fact it's one of the central topics of it. The Unruh-Davies effect is derived and a physical explanation is given for it, there is also a discussion of what a freefalling observer with a charge sees. Although not mentioned in the book, the analogous effect has important implications for Hawking radiation. Many other effects are considered. One that I thought was particularly interesting is that the van der Waals force between atoms that lack permanent magnetic dipole moments is ultimately caused by vacuum fluctuations. Van der Waals forces are covered in great detail as the book proceeds. The final four chapters read like a quick introduction to quantum field theory similar to the approach in Bjorken and Drell. The contents are roughly: the Dirac equation, some of its effects (e.g. Zitterbewegung and vacuum polarization), the realization that the Dirac equation has issues as a single particle theory, second quantization, renormalization and Feynman diagrams. One of the interesting results is the calculation of the Casimir type force caused by the electron field. Other than that, not much else from this part of the book stood out for me. This isn't a comprehensive book on field theory in general or even quantum electrodynamics, however I do think it adds a lot of insight into quantum electrodynamics and the physical effects of the vacuum. It is very detailed in the things it covers and often adds insight by looking at a problem from several angles. I also think parts of the book would be very useful for somebody studying atomic physics. First of all the content adresses the subject well and it is useful for someone in quantum electrodynamics. Similar information has been given in other books. HOWEVER.... I have to agree with the last reviewer. This book seems to be a copy of the original book, even though cleanly done ! ...outside cover cheaply printed on spine, no front print, inside pages are photocopies and not original quality press printing !!!! In all, it looks like a well done black market copy rather than an original Academic Press book. BEWARE of buying this version. Other sources might be recommended. About the quality of the edition only. Academic Press has done it again: charge you more than 100$ for a crappy book. That is, very bad quality printing, the text seems like if scanned first and then printed in a laser wich gives it a piggy typeface, to complement this the pages are glued instead of sewn. The author has his own points of view which are personal and insightful. The subject is presented as a part of physics with many applications to Casimir forces, Van der Waals forces, radiation and spectra of atoms, vacuum fluctuations, quantum optics etc. The author gives the impression that he explains what he has really understood and he makes you curious about the things that he has not.
