(Woohoo to the little Hoov!)
(Great Little Vacuum)
(Better than a broom!!!)
(Quick and Easy) Purchased specifically for quick clean-ups around the cat litter box. But due to its good suction and light weight now gets used more than any other vacuum in the house. Highly recommended by Bunter. I have always been a proponent of canister vacs. I have tried uprights and have found them to be just cumbersome and hard to manoever. I have 2 elderly cats, a 3 year old, a husband and am 9 months pregnant. Need I say more? I wanted something small, lightweight, easy and powerful. I thought that was too much to ask for, but thought I would give this vac a try. I am so impressed. Its small, swivel head works on carpets, hardwoods, throw rugs and seems to gladly gobble those annoying pieces of cat litter that follow me through the house regardless of how hard I try to keep them at bay. To keep the weight down, the vac is made of plastic - it feels flimsy, but is, in actuality, quite rugged. The bagless styling is appropriate for those who are looking for an environmentally friendly option. The one power switch goes from off to bare floors to rugs and is easily accessible without having to bend down. I consider this to be a must have for my grandparents who have had a hard time finding a vacuum that is easy to use and gentle on my grandmothers bad back. One caution - the rug beater is strong enough to chomp the ends of throw rugs. You just need to use the barefloors option when going over fringe or any delicate edging (it does not cause damage) - it just holds on like a pitt bull! This vac is a steal at $50! I love this little vacuum and I've had several different brands. It's lightweight and powerful and I love the little swivel head. I love the fact that it has a floor and carpet setting because I have a large laminate floor with rugs and I can go right onto the carpet off my kitchen. It would be the perfect vacuum if it had a detachable hose! PROS: I've owned this vac for over a year. It is the best thing to use to pick up kitty litter, dirt on hard floors, christmas tree needles, throw rugs and bathroom floors. Unlike a broom, this vacuum picks up all the debris on hard surfaces. Doesn't leave any fine dirt or grit behind. It's also great for throw rugs. You can vacuum using the beater brush or not. There is enough suction using the beater brush to clean throw rugs without it getting all sucked up into the inside of the beater.
Will surface clean carpet or stairs but this vac is not really designed to deep clean carpet. This vacuum is for quick clean ups and hard surfaces. I use it daily to clean up kitty litter.
CONS: A longer cord would be nice. Be careful where you lean this against because it does slide off walls. Try to lean in a corner. I haven't broken the cord keeper yet as some have indicated. Also a quick cord release would be great. Because I use this almost daily I tend to not use the cord winder hooks. Too time consuming without a quick release. The other feature that would be helpful would be a light. But at this price I can understand the short cord, no quick cord release and no light.
ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND. I WILL BUY ANOTHER ONE IF SOMETHING HAPPENS TO THIS ONE. This Hoover stick vac replaces a Dirt Devil that suffered a broken handle early in its life and then showered my wife with sparks as it gave up the ghost recently. It had seen about 2 years of service and was used about every three days supplementing swiffer jobs daily on tile. By comparison this Hoover is quieter, edge cleans as well on hard flooring, the swivel action of the head is far superior, but it is slightly less effective on carpet with its less aggressive brush roll. The build quality is decent. With a couple minutes of practice it will self-stand. The one that broke didn't stand well and punished the J shaped handle, finally cracking it, after about a half dozen falls. The cord is adequate in length to cover rooms individually. The dust cup is a little bit messy, but moving that operation to our garage over a garbage can makes it a non-issue. If you suffer through vacuuming stairs with a full size upright, treat yourself to one of these! If it lasts a couple years, it will have been well worth the entry price. The Hoover S2220 "Flair" Bagless Powered Nozzle cleans your floors easily, comfortably and completely. The bagless design is easy to clean out, the large wheels make it easy to move and the power nozzle gets deep into cracks and carpeting for a cleaner floor. Easy storage hang-up slot Works on all floors Rerations < Hoover S2220 Flair Bagless Upright Stick Vacuum with Power Nozzle >

(small but powerful)
(GREAT POWER - better than my dyson upright !!!)
(DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!)
(Great Suction..a little workhorse) I received the vacuum in the mail this past week&it was all ready to use right out of the box....the positives end there, unfortunately. It was incredibly heavy and clunky&I could tell right away that it was going to be a pain to vacuum with. The hose it comes with is a joke. It's only 12 inches long, so you can't set the vacuum down to use the hose. You have to hold the heavy vacuum up with one hand while you try to use the tiny hose on anything--and the hose isn't very bendable, as I learned by trying to vacuum off my windowsill--which didn't work well. So, if you need to use the hose on something 3 inches in front of you and you have He-man arm muscles, no problem, but anything else&you can't do it.
While trying to use this on the stairs (the main reason I bought it), it was a total joke, It just didn't pick up that much stuff--and my stairs really weren't that bad. The photo shows this vacuuming up berber carpet. Maybe it works OK if you don't have any pile to your carpet, but mine is a low shag&it was horrible! It left fuzzies, cat litter, pet hair, carpet pieces, pine needles, etc. I'd have to use the wide mouth part to vacuum, then go back over it with the hose to pick up everything. And, of course, since the hose is so short, I couldn't set the vacuum on one step while trying to hose the one above it--it doesn't reach. Oh, and the front of the vacuum is hard plastic- no rubber bumpers or anything, so I dinged up my baseboards every time I came to the end of the side of each stair.
And...the dirt holder area is so tiny. I have a decent sized house with a couple flights of stairs and had to empty out the container 3 separate times! It's not so much that the holding area is small, but all the dirt gravitates to the filter, which becomes blocked up and reduces suction unless you clean it out...it reduces the already bad suction, I might add. The cord was a bit longer than my dirt devel hand held vac, but nothing amazing. I still had to vacuum 6-7 stairs, then after I got to the landing, I'd have to unplug the vacuum and re-plug it in at the other level of the house to get the other 6-7 stairs after the landing.
I'd return this right now if I wasn't so dang lazy....into the Goodwill box it goes.
Though the suction nozzle is a little small, it is enough for a dormitory room. I use a dyson upright but it is awful for the stairs. My Eureka 71B Rocks! I can't believe the amount of dog hair it sucks out of the stairs - hair that isn't even visible on the carpet! It gets deep down! I did my reasearch before buying and am CONFIDENT I made the right choice here! SO HAPPY! I feel like we just took $40.00 and threw it out the window. We bought this to vacuum our staircase and I am lucky if it picks up any loose lint. It is heavy and I got so frustrated that after several attempts I finally just threw it away!!!!! Great for steps/car.. Hugely suction-ie!! Has long nozzle attached in back..The only thing that would make it even better would be a small BRUSH attachment- I'm just going to use one I have from my Mighty Mite&hopefully it'll fit. Quick-Up Handheld Vacuum Hand-held but very powerful, this Eureka model eliminates the hassle of lugging around a full-size vacuum for cleaning car upholstery, sofas, and carpeted stairs. A long 20-foot cord (which wraps for storage) provides good reach, as does the deluxe hose that stretches to three times its length. With the crevice tool on the end of the hose, this vacuum reaches into all kinds of tight places. And, with two motors, one to power the revolving brush and one for suction, the 5.5 amp vacuum cleans deeply. One of Eureka's innovations is the Riser Visor, a clear plastic cover that stays down for cleaning horizontal surfaces and flips up so the revolving brush can reach the vertical carpet on stair risers. There's no bag to change, just a filter and clear plastic dust cup to shake out when necessary.--Ann Bieri Rerations < Eureka 71B Hand-Held Vacuum >

(perfect service)
(Great product)
(4905 Battery for my Roomba) The battery is horriable on the Roomba. I have a hard time believing that they can't fix this problem. I bought my Roomba at Hammacher. I wish that everybody that is looking at this message bought their's at Hammacher. Hammacher has a life time guarantee. Everytime my battery goes dead, I send my Roomba back to Hammacher and get a new Roomba. In the past 4 or 5 years, I have send four Roomba back and had them replaced. I've actually upgraded my Roomba everytime to the last and greatest Roomba that they have. I currently own the Roomba Scheduler. And despite the problems with the battery,I love my Roomba, but do hate the battery. It beginning to appear that my battery is dead again, time for another Roomba upgrade. This battery was just what my roomba needed. My roomba stoped working and I was hoping that it was just the battery and fortunately it was. This battery holds a great charge and works like a champ. The battery I ordered for my IRobot vacuum was delivered exactly on time in good condition. Battery for my Roomba was just what we expected. Looked exactly like the one that came with the machine. Charged perfectly and ran time was as stated. Very good purchase. Worked perfectly after a 24 hour charge with the unit plugged in- not on the platform. Charging with the AC allows for a little over 2 hours of use- whereas on the docking base- about an hour. Features and Benefits

customer 's review (Good.)
(excellent- continuous) This is another vacuum cleaner sound for soothing babies, like The Whammy for Babies: Vacuum Cleaner Sounds to Soothe Colic and Fussiness. This one is about 60 min and the other is about 72. I liked this one and found it works like the other. This works. I have given it to many people for shower gifts. It is one full hour of sound in one track on the CD. It is great!!!
I have tried other similar CDs that have 72 min of a vacuum sound and they (it) works as well, but the 72 min. are broken into 3 tracks each ~24 min. When one ends and the next starts there is a break in the sound and then a really loud start when the next track begins. This sometimes wakes baby back up once you get her to sleep. Woke me up the first time it happened!
So I like this one better since it is full hour in one track. Unfortunately it is often harder to find. Babies love this sound! Moms and Dads love what it does! One Full Hour of Soothing Vacuum Cleaner Hum and Our Pure White Noise® to Soothe and Relax Your Baby to a Peaceful Natural Sleep.
There's something about the sound of a vacuum cleaner that babies absolutely love! It is thought by some experts that the vacuum cleaner sound is reminiscent of womb sounds, thereby comforting newborns and infants.Very therapeutic for colic and sleep. The sound of a vacuum cleaner works amazingly well to ease colic. Babies love to fall asleep while listening to it.
Get a more soothing sound without burning out your vacuum cleaner motor. The digitally recorded vacuum cleaner sound is mixed with a precise amount of pure white noise®, creating a smoother, more ear-pleasing hum than an actual vacuum cleaner. And because its on a CD, you can control the volume to a level thats comfortable for both you and babys ears. Brought to you by Pure White Noise®, the leader in white noise audio products for adults and children for over25 years.60 minutes.

customer 's review (These sounds really do work on colic) I've tried treating my daughter's colic with lots of different remedies, but nothing seemed to help. The pediatrician told me to try blowing my hair dryer or running the vacuum cleaner near the baby. When I told him that those sounds hurt my ears, he explained that life in the womb is noisy, due to my body's heartbeat, hunger pangs, blood flow, and so on. So most babies, including my daughter, are used to what we think is loud sound.
So rather than burn up my blow dryer motor, I ordered these CDs with the machine sounds. All I can say is that the minute my squalling daughter heard the Blow Dryer sound, she immediately stopped crying. I couldn't believe it! The Vacuum Cleaner sound also works well, and I don't have to burn out the motor trying to get my daughter to calm down and fall asleep. The other thing I like about these CDs is that I can adjust the volume; you can't do that with an appliance.
Definitely money well spent. This bundle of 3 top selling CDs amazingly ease baby colic as well as gently lull fussy and crying babies to sleep. Included in this 3 CD-Pack are: Babys Fan CD, Babys Vacuum CD and Babys Blow Dryer CD. All 3 are one full hour each. Babies love these sounds! Parents love what they do! (Really really really good)
(YES!!!)
(Debut full-length album from the Blow) This album is absolutely horrible. I wish that I would not have wasted my money on it. It is not nearly as good as the album with "pile of gold" on it. Way back when this album first came out The Blow performed it in the basement of my dorm at college. This album is actually a story which runs through (i think it's) one summer that the narrator experienced. Each song is a story, and relates to the album as a whole. The album is best in the context of a live performance since each track is explained as to it's relation to the whole, but without context it is still stinkin' good.
gotta say, i love it. Keep and open mind, and promise you will like this album. Kheala makes very unique music, which I find to be immensely refreshing. And jesus christ, What Tom Said About The Girls should have SOARED up the charts, but life just isn't fair. It's an audacious album that begins with the musical question"How Naked Are We Gonna Get?"and The Concussive Caress by The Blow (the newest manifestation of Khaela Maricich after Get the Hell Out of the Way of the Volcano) is audacious indeed. But no one is more surprised at the fact that I am reviewing this album positively than myself, considering that my first introduction to Maricich as a solo artist (sidestepping her vocal appearances on various Microphones recordings) in The Blow was via the Invisible Shield compilation, on which her"The Democracy of Small Things"(originally from the Bonus Album EP) appears. It quickly became one of the few songs I would invariably skip and Maricich became known around my household as"the girl who talks to her molecules."Luckily, I had an open enough mind to approach The Concussive Caress on its own merits--once I determined that"The Democracy of Small Things"was not featured. The Concussive Caress isn't your average electronic pop album. It requires a little attention be paid and does not hold with common song titling conventions. Track 3 isn't titled at all and two songs--"'Sweetheart'"and"Gravity (Pauline's Response to Amy)"--expand over two consecutive tracks each. Timing isn't a consideration, either, with four of the fifteen tracks coming in at considerably less than one minute and Track 15 figuring at over ten minutes (if you include the hidden track at the end of the album). However, as with many K artists, once I got over the sheer oddity of the album, I was able to settle back and enjoy it as music. "How Naked Are We Going to Get?"is bold in any form, with lyrics that touch on unspoken thoughts, including the idea that one can"remember the route to her heart from her thighs."All this is backed by a droning undertone and the occasional high-pitched accompaniment to Maricich's sweetly alluring voice that shows itself to be malleable to any situation. This groove is broken by"Chase Dream,"with knocks its way in with the side of a drum and the staccato delivery of"I get it, got it, get it get it, got it"for 26 seconds, followed quickly by an untitled track featuring a barely tuneful guitar and drums for 22 seconds. Strangely enough, these interludes add to the narrative flow somehow that I understand but can't explain. Pop craftsmanship comes to the fore in"A Night Full of Open Eyes,"with a sound that is quite familiar with the necessities of top 40 radio. The second part of"Sweetheart"is another standout, almost purely due to its conciseness and lyrics: He called me Doll Eyes He called me Sunrise He called me Hearty Thighs He called me Super Size He called me Heat Lamp He called me Summer Camp He called me...just that once and then he never called again. Khaela's courageous (and, I must add, almost entirely successful) experimentation with different genres on The Concussive Caress is epitomized by the slow, groovy rap goodness of"What Tom Said about Girls."It is easily my favorite track on the album, not least because she really gets into the mind of this mostly unlikable character and shows his cockiness truly and satirically, making him sympathetic in the process."Nothing"didn't strike me as very memorable at first, but eventually worked its way into the folds of my brain and emerges at unconventional times--strange for a track without a chorus to speak of. Throughout the album, we are introduced to snippets from the Karicich's recent narrative opera, Blue Sky vs. Night Sky and if these songs are any indication, a full recording of this opera would be an event, indeed. As it is, we are merely teased with snippets of the whole storyline."Come On Pauline (Amy's Cassette for Pauline),""Gravity (Pauline's Response to Amy),"and"What Amy Heard in Her Mother's Voice Played Backwards"are only the most obviously titled ones of this selection. Based on their lyrical content, I'm assuming that"What Tom Said About Girls,""'Sweetheart,'""Where I Love You,"and"A Night Full of Open Eyes"are also part of this cycle and these are some of the highest points on The Concussive Caress. But even so, this album as it is could well be the crowning glory (so far, of course) in the career of The Blow. The final track ("The Warrior's Hearts") is grandly reminiscent of the music from The 7th Guest but also sounds like something that would play under closing credits, making it the perfect closer to this disc. The entirety of The Concussive Caress runs only about thirty minutes (not including the hidden track at the end of 15), which is just enough time to take the dog for a long walk (or the ferret, depending on your pet predilections), but not so long that you have to stay the night over at a friend's house the finish the thing, unlike some bands that seem to thrive on filler just to take up the whole running time of a compact disc. It's a truly great album that leaves me wanting more. Rerations < The Concussive Caress, or, Casey Caught Her Mom Singing Along With the Vacuum >

(Great Brit Film)
(It sucks...but it's a living)
(Astonishingly hysterical performance by Timothy Spall!) I bought this movie because I am a HUGE fan of Danny Boyle's work. His early work (Shallow Grave and Trainspotting) are some of my favorite films. I am highly awaiting his newest film, Sunshine, and am also a fan of his take on the zombie genre, 28 Days Later. So when I saw that Danny Boyle had directed this "hilarious" film, I decided to give it a chance. When it starts, I only hoped the whole movie didn't look horribly pixilated. To my dismay, the rest of the film did indeed look like this. Unnecessary angles, quick cuts, and a horribly jumpy plot line make this an atrocious film. Shame on you, Danny Boyle. This is a great off the wall film. Good BBC production. Highly recommend. The title of this review doesn't refer to the film, but to the noble profession of selling vacuum cleaners, further ennobled by the door-to-door approach. Marauders of the working class homefront, these sales blokes (it's a British film) pounce with ferocious, rapacious glee on the unsuspecting denizens of modularized same-look-in-every-unit apartment buildings.
One such--indeed, king of sales-driven ferocity--is Tommy Rag, an overweight, overwrought maniac whose own motivational tape (i.e., he recorded it himself)--"Sell, sell, sell, f**king sell, f**king sell"--is set to heavy metal music. This is one of numerous hilarious pleasures of this intensely manic made-for-TV (BBC) film directed by Danny Boyle. Played by Timothy Spall, Rag is anything but ragtag, but does manage to rag unto near-nervous breakdown his new protege, Pete (actor Michael Begley), a rookie salesguy who transitions from "mixing cassettes for teenagers" to selling vacs, all the better to insure that his stripper girlfriend won't leave him.
The script by Jim Cartwright is perfect, and is matched with Boyle's perfect direction to deliver a short (75-minute) film that couldn't be any longer and retain its power without flagging/fragging the viewer. Spall is nothing short of miraculous here, an unstoppable force that seemingly only hurricane Ivan might bring down. His intensity is so palpable you can feel yourself quaking, shaking, and roaring every time he makes an appearance (which is, in fact, most of the film).
A comic bash that pounds and astounds, Vacuuming Completely Nude in Paradise deserves a wider audience and more than makes up for Boyle's disastrous The Beach (w. Leonardo di Caprio; brilliant cinematography is its only saving grace) and lackluster A Life Less Ordinary. This is a 2001 film and let's hope it signals Boyle's return to the intelligence and power evident in his first film, Shallow Graves.
Definitely recommended. Guaranteed to induce hearty guffaws.
