(Fantastic Machine) (Very Pleased with Hoover F7411) (amazing) I've rented Rug Doctors at the local store, and used a friend's upright Bissell steam cleaner. This Hoover did just as well as the Rug Doctor but is 1/3 the weight and MUCH easier to use. This Hoover is also lighter, and in my opinion a better cleaner, than the upright Bissell. When we opened the box and put this thing together, we were skeptical of the seemingly cheap design and construction. BUT, it works great! No leaks, parts all fit together well, powerful, easy to use. We've emptied alot of very black water from this thing after multiple cleanings of a white carpet. Good buy - very much recommend this. Wow. I cleaned my carpet every 2 months with a rented carpet cleaner, so when I brought this home I certainly didn't think it would pull SO MUCH dirt out of my carpet. But it did. Puttin this unit together took all of 15 minutes after taking it out of the box. Filling it up with soap and water couldn't be any easier. And it does a great job with your carpet, sucking up far greater amounts of dirt than the rented Rug-Doctors. I also really like the 'rinse' feature, allowing you to go back over your carpet after running soapy water through, to rinse it clean with just hot water. I give this 5 out of 5. It's super easy to put together, easier to use, and gives great results :) I really am pleased with my purchase. The Hoover Steam Vac worked great. It really extracted dirt that I did not know even existed in my carpet. I have 3 boys and off white, short shag carpet. There were juice stains and other stains that I don't even know what it was. I could not get them out of the carpet by hand. This machine removed the stains and made the carpet look like new again. It took only 2 hours, if that, for my carpet to dry. If you want good results like I did, you have to read the instruction manual. When you open the box you have to take out the manual and follow every direction; including the one on how to get it out of the box. Put the pieces of the machine together in order and make sure you use only the detergent they recommend. I feel that because I followed the manually exactly I had excellent results. The price I paid for this machine was right on. I don't feel that I was overcharged. I feel this is a quality product. Very easy to assemble. Did an excellent job cleaning carpets. My daughter no longer is telling me I need to replace my 20 year old carpet. It is light beige and looks like new. This cleaner has done a better job than professional cleaners I have had come in. Both my son&daughter plan on purchasing this cleaner. I especially like being able to rinse the soap out of the carpet. It keeps the carpet clean much longer. I bought this machine for my daughter for mothers day... She has a large family 4 little kiddies&2 dogs. The suction is quite powerful for such a small unit, and the dust "blowout" is nonexistent. This vacuum does a great job on bare floors and berber carpet, but not so great on carpet with any reasonable pile. There isn't any agitator in the head, but rather a fixed brush that disturbs debris which may or may not be suctioned. The handle removes to give you a potent dustbuster which is a nice feature. The crevice tool works quite well. The cord could be a bit longer, but if you have plenty of outlets it's not a problem. This unit isn't designed to be your primary vacuum unless you live in a really small space. It functions great as something to periodically clean small areas. Definitely recommended. Very good item. One end is exactly 4" outside diameter (inside diameter is 3.75"), and the other end is 2.5" O.D. (I.D. is 2.25"). You won't be able to directly connect this adapter/reducer to a machine with a 4" or 2.5" dust port - since the reducer is that same size. A section of hose would be needed between the machine's dust port and the reducer. This reducer is male on both ends. If you consider the inside diameters, that could be called female, but you won't be able to clamp the reducer end to tighten it over a hose (e.g., a 2.25" hose), if you insert a hose in of that end. As you can see in Customer Images, the reducer is funnel-shaped, and on my computer monitor, "W1044" is just visible in the middle of the photo. Since the ends are only tapered at the tips, clamped flexible dust hoses stay put. Quality of this simple and inexpensive product is first-rate. It is made of 1/8" thick ABS plastic. I have several of these in my dust collection system, one of which is over 10 years old. They seem to last forever. These work great on the"ribbed"hose that most shops use for dust collection. The solid strap clamps tend to slip and skew when tightened and allow tiny leaks where these wire clamps seat on the hose solidly. You can also use a nut driver or socket wrench to get them REALLY tight, tighter than just using a screwdriver. If you are using Woodstock International hose, use these clamps. These are high quality and far better than the band type.These are clean looking and fit over the ridges on the pipe instead of crushing them. They tighten up with a screwdriver or wrench and really sinch down tight.Because the dust collection hose is made with a continuous ridge and not seperate sections. You will have to cross over some ridges on the collection hose but, it still comes out clean.Forget the old rubber hose type clamps and go with these you wont be sorry. You know, this may very well be a good product, but changing over from the blowing function to the vacuum function is a nightmare. The bag has to be added on, or removed and the blower arm etc has to be added on or removed. All depending on which functions you want. This is simple to do, but TAKES A GREAT DEAL OF TIME AND EXTRA WORK. My older blower/vacuum was just a flip of a lever. This is just way too time consuming when you are in the middle of a large project. You can't just blow and area and the suck it up. Then move on to the next little area. Really, just too time consuming. I had a previous version of the leaf hog that I was satisfied with but when it burned out, I was in the market for another. This model is a noticeable improvement. The steel propeller is a key upgrade as is as the zipperless bag. It is relatively light weight and very powerful. I could not find this at home depot and was delighted that amazon offered it.
