I INCORPORATED THEM INTO MY SYSTEM OUT OF NECESSITY, AS A TEMPORARY "FIX," UNTIL I COULD AFFORD TO REPLACE THEM. MY INTENTION WAS TO REPLACE THEM WITH THE "MANLY-BLAST-GATES" AS SOON AS FINANCES PERMITTED.

FOR MY APPLICATION, THE ALUMINUM BLAST-GATES ARE TERRIBLE AND THE PLASTIC BLAST-GATES ARE FANTASTIC.

MOST OF MY "DUST" IS METAL-SHAVINGS AND GLASS-BEAD. THE ALUMINUM GATES ARE VERY HARD TO OPEN AND CLOSE, AS THE GATE DOES NOT WANT TO "GLIDE" IN ITS TRACK (PROBABLY DUE TO DUST "JAMMING" THE SPACE BETWEEN THE GATE AND THE RAILS).

THE PLASTIC BLAST-GATES GLIDE EFFORTLESSLY AND DO NOT SEEM TO BE AFFECTED BY "MY DUST" AT ALL.

(Aluminum Blastgates)
『The aluminum blastgates are well wirth the cost. My exhaut system works so much better since I took the plastic gates out. When you open and close the plastic gates saw dust and chips get in the slides,this blocks the slides from closing. This causes a leak because it does not close all the way. The aluminum one's are open at the end of the slide so they can clean themselves and close fully.』

『I replaced all my plastic blast gates with these, and now my dust collection system works beautifully. The slides on the plastic gates get obstructed with wood chips and debris. When they can't close all the way, the entire system is compromised. Paying more for these gates is definitely worth it.』

(Leaks, short throat)
『These are more durable then the plastic ones for sure. But they leak around the edges and the closing plate bounces around and does not really shut until backpressure builds up. Also the closing plate, if unit is mounted vertically, will close by itself due to gravity. The locking screw is a pain when you want to quickly close and open gates. Seems like it would not have been too much trouble to add the $.02 worth of gasket to properly seal the unit and give the closing plate some friction so it doesnt close by itself.
The attachment throats are very short making it difficult to clamp to hose or pipe. Silicon caulk is the only way to attach it to solid pipe.』

『I use the Ash vac for my pellete stove. It works extreamly well and I don't have to clean the filter very often. It also looks great in my Den.』

(Great warm (hot) ash vacuum)
『Yes, this is a very noisy vacuum. However, it is a very good vacuum for being able to remove ashes with hot coals still present. With cold ash vacuums you have to wait until the fire is completely out or you'll be sorry. Since I got this vacuum, I'm able to keep the fire going 24 hours a day. In the morning, I just get the ashes from around the still burning coals, throw some more wood on top of the remaining coals and within minutes, I have a blazing fire again.

The occasional coal that you vacuum won't harm the vacuum, except, if it is almost full and a coal rests against the filter, it will burn a hole in it. You just need to remember to empty it before it gets that full.

And since I only use it for about 45 seconds once or twice a day, I can live with the noise from it.』

『The Cheetah works well on my Quadra-Fire pellet stove but it is much noisier than a vacuum cleaner! I purchased it (but not the stove) from a local stove place in Central Massachusetts and once I realized I had been sold the noisier version, I called the place back. They assured me that once the Cougars came in that I could swap the top of the unit while retaining my canister and filter. Well, after several months of follow up calls this place says they have never received any Cougars and even wondered if they were still made! I wish I had checked this site first! I never should have purchased the Cheetah and I think this stove place is the real cheata. I Would suggest purchasing the Cougar since it is about the same price.』

『I bought this for my husband for Christmas. I thought he'd like the rugged look of it, and the fact that it's a Stanley. We have a coffee shop up the street and walk up with our kids on the weekend to get out for a bit, and we were tired of being wasteful with the disposable cups. We'll walk roughly 3 miles (.8 up, get the coffee, 1.8 around and back) and the coffee is still hot after we've been home for a while. Sometimes we fill it with hot water before we go and empty it outside the coffee shop, sometimes not. You don't have to do that to keep the coffee warm for the couple of hours we're out and about. The size is a little too large for our stroller cupholders and my Pilot, but is fine in his truck. It doesn't have a handle which, for me, would be nice because it's kind of wide and not as comfortable to hold for long periods. But that's not an issue for him. Those are the only reasons for giving it the 4 stars. Otherwise it's sweet.』

『When I first saw this drink bottle, I instantly thought that it used to be a tank shell. It's about 9.5" in height (much taller than your normal coffee mug), completely cylindrical, and heavy even without any liquid inside.

I think this bottle works great for both hot and cold liquids, but with hot liquids, you have to be extra careful. There is a weld seam inside the bottle, so the seal on the cap doesn't seal on a perfectly flat surface when the top is twisted shut.

So, if you put the bottle with hot liquids into a backpack or bag, it most likely will leak a little if tipped to the side because the pressure inside the bottle will increase as the hot fluid is shaken and possibly force liquid through where the seal contacts the weld seam. You have to keep the bottle with hot liquid upright at all times when carrying in a bag.

I can pour 2 cups of hot coffee at 8am in the morning and even if left slightly twisted open, the coffee will still be hot around 2pm. But, you must run some piping hot water into this mug to get the inside hot first.

With cold liquids, you just have to make sure that everything is completely twisted shut and it should be fine even if tipped over.

I just wish there was a carbiner included with the bottle, and that this bottle should have a rubber bottom to prevent clanging when you sit it down on a table. If you place it in a backpack pocket, without a carbiner, it could jump out of a side pocket when walking briskly because of inertia.

I want to add also that the top of this bottle may be extremely hard to remove if you've overtightened it, or if liquids have dried around the threads. The finish around the bottle is very smooth, without a positive grip, so it's very hard to hold it down when trying to twist off the top.

This bottle fits fine into a car's cupholder, but since it's heavy and tall, it may wobble around when driving.

I would have given this bottle 3.5 stars if possible.

『I love this mug. I make my coffee at night and it's still hot in the morning. Sometimes too hot to drink. It's traveled to many places with me and the Navy but the cap just broke. I don't know if I tightened it too much or if I got one with a defect but I wish it lasted longer. It did last for about 14 months. I still plan on buying another one to replace this one.』

『This thermos is great. My family has a traditional Stanely thermos that my grandfather used prior to world war two, so when purchasing the outdoor vacuum drink bottle I hoped Stanley had continued their tradition of high quality products.

I was not disappointed.

I make french press coffee every morning and nurse it at my desk for most of the day. The coffee stays hot from about 8am until about 2pm, and only then do I usually notice a small drop in temperature. The amount of beverage in the thermos makes a difference as well. I find the more liquid I keep in the thermos, the liquid stays hotter for a longer amount of time. Just make sure to preheat the thermos with hot water.

I experimented a little with the bottle one night and put hot water in the thermos just before bed. When I woke up the next day and made coffee (about 11 hours later) the water inside was warm, but not piping hot. Still, I think this example of keeping liquids hot is pretty impressive, considering most thermoses and travel mugs only keep beverages warm for only a few hours and lose temperature rather quickly.

The lid is pretty cool. It comes apart pretty easily for cleaning and allows the user to drink straight from the bottle. I had no problems cleaning or using the lid.

I look forward to using this bottle on future camping and road trips. If you're thinking about getting one, do it. You wont be disappointed.』

(The Hottest Stanley)
『I currently own 5 different Stanley thermoses of various sizes and ages. I love them all... but THIS ONE WORKS THE BEST!!! We noticed hot tea stayed much hotter for much longer in this Outdoor 1.1qt thermos as compared to various sizes of the original and traditional moss green colored Stanley thermoses.

I conducted an experiment to see if this thermos really was outperforming the others. Thermoses in the test were all Stanley Brand all under 2 years old... one moss green 0.5qt, one moss green 24 oz wide mouth, one moss green 1.1 qt and the thermos rated here, the Outdoor 1.1 qt. All were preheated with boiling water for 10 minutes. All were emptied and refilled with boiling water and sealed. All thermoses were opened 18 hours later...and all steamed! All water temperatures were still hot as measured with a finger. But the Outdoor Stanley 1.1 qt's water was burning hot! Temperatures were as follows: 0.5qt was 127F, 24oz wide mouth was 129F, 1.1qt moss green was 134F but the Outdoor 1.1qt was a whopping 154F!!!!! At least 20 degrees hotter than the others!! A huge difference.... Wow. For those unfamiliar with what these temps feel like in your mouth... 120's is hot enough to take medium sized swallows... no real blowing of the surface needed. Then 130's you need to take smaller sips and maybe blow a little right before your lip touches. But 150's... no way... you are blowing for a while, touch it to your lip... swear because you just burned your lip... then put the cup -which is now too hot to hold- DOWN and patiently wait to taste!

I don't understand WHY this one performed so much better. They are all stainless steel inside and out, and they all have similar stoppers and cups. They are all -unfortunately- made in China. In summary, I would recommend any Stanley thermos but this new Outdoor version for some reason seems to work BETTER!!!』

Later the authors proceed to derive Kerr Metric , from Ernst equation , something that you don't see very often . I was yearning for having a copy of Adler , since is the other book that cover Kerr derivation is Chandra , which is too picky. But then I got lucky ,I found this book.
Something even more interesting s that it incorporates Advanced Topics like Kaluza Klein and Brane Cosmology ( Randall -Sundrum) etc.
The book brings step - by step derivations and a considerable amount of Exercises.
It is a noble , friendly book , produced by Physicist that really want you to learn ..Buy it .』

『This book isn't that flash. I bought this for the 12 string and archtop component in it but was dissappointed. The bracing diagrams for the soundboard are a bit of a help but they're just not up to scratch of some other 6 string books on the market. This book is not for thr first timer. If you want to build a 12 string, build a 6 string first from Jonathan Kinkead's book then replicate it with the structural / measurement adjustments necessary for a 12 string. Good luck!!!』

(fine book; out of print)
『Irving Sloane's book on guitar construction was first published in 1975. A reprint was published in 1990. It is out of print, but still for sale new from luthier supply catalogs. Used copies can also be found through Amazon.

The book is nicely illustrated with clear black-and-white photographs on nearly every page, many of which are large, full-page pictures. Sloane's method of construction involves the assembly of the rim using a rudimentary mold, then attachment of the back and sides, and then the neck. His method of joining the neck to the body is unusual and I doubt that I would ever attempt it. There are also sections on inlay and finishing techniques.

Like Cumpiano's book this one is quite old and does not reflect recent innovations in guitar construction. I am not certain that builders on a budget would want to put Sloane's book high on their list of required reading. Nevertheless it is a good book and it is always worthwhile to see how different builders go about different ways of solving a problem. As an aside, there is a brief section on archtop guitar construction which is interesting in that it shows famous arch-top makers John D'Angelico and his successor James D'Aquisto at work in their shop. This may be the most worthwhile thing in Sloane's book, given the abundance of guitar construction information available on the internet and in newer publications.』

『I don't often review something unless I'm disappointed with it, so for me to take the time to write a review, something has to be really exceptional. I cannot believe how much I love this vacuum. Everything about it -- folding design, suction power, length of time it runs on a full charge, the way it picks up pet hair in my house, how light and maneuverable it is -- I just don't see how you can improve this thing! I've had a couple of Eureka power stick type things that were cordless and worked okay, but nowhere near the power, durability, and build quality of this. For $69 you cannot beat the convenience of not having to drag out your main vacuum.』

(Made My Life Easier)
『Just a note to qualify this review: We don't allow shoes on in our house so that hopefully gives you an idea of the type of cleaning that we use this for. We don't have any major high traffic areas and our floors don't get ridiculously dirty to start with so if you need something for heavy duty cleaning this probably isn't for you. Just somethign to keep in mind while reading this review.

Review: This is a great little vacuum. I've only had it for a few weeks so I can't really speak to it's longevity but it suits my needs. I live in a townhouse with a lot of wood floors and rugs and it's cut my cleaning time to 1/3. No more dragging out the broom and dust pan and then dragging the vacuum cleaner up 3 levels. This little vac is portable, cordless and easy to use.

Only 2 cons that come to mind:

1. Emptying out the container can get a little messy. I find that even shaking it over trash can doesn't get everything out so you have to get your fingers a little bit dirty when you're pulling out the filter and what not, but once they are out, the filters is very easy to clean (a little soap and water and let dry).

2. Reading the directions it makes it seem like the charge on the stick vac is only good for 20-30 minutes so if you have a big house then you might want to keep that in mind. I was able to do 2 levels in my townhouse in less than 20 minutes and the charge still seemed strong.

Anyway, it works for me but I can see why it wouldn't be great for every household.』

『This thing is great. It is not as effective as a full sized floor vacuum, but is great to pick up the dog hair in-between a thorough cleaning. It gets into corners that would be difficult with a large vacuum, and works great for the carpeted stairs. It takes up little space charging, and is easy to unfold and use. I rarely use my hand vac now since this one works so much better.』

『I like to have back ups of replacement products on hand. This way, when you need to replace the Silver Stick, you don't have to worry about ordering it and waiting for the arrival. It does what it is supposed to do in the AIR-O-SWISS unit I have. Not sure if it works in anything else, though.』

(Shipping Mistake)
『This was the first time I placed an order with Grady's Online. Grady's split my order into two orders. I received the first order for the demineralization cartridge without a problem. The second order for the replacement Ionic Silver Stick was a different story. The order for both items was place online on April 11th. After waiting quite a while I finally received the second order, on April 22nd, but they sent me the wrong item. When I called, on April 22nd, they said they would send out the correct item and a shipping label to mail back the wrong item. On May 1st I called Grady's again to inquire about where my second shipment was. Grady's finally shipped the second item on May 4th, almost a month after placing the order. The prepaid shipping label was not included as promised. A few days later Grady's sent an apology letter along with the shipping label. Even though their price was good I wouldn't order from them again.』

『I have had this vacuum cleaner for several years and decided to try the water pumping feature. Well, I hooked up a hose to the connection and nothing happens. It just fills up the tank and shuts off when full. So to final-empty the water bed I have to roll 7 tubs of water at 100# each over to the bathtub. Fun. By the way, the wheels are skinny, slick and useless so you basically have to pick up the thing to roll it - great for your back! Regardless the wheels will scratch and track all over your floor. The Shop Vac website contains no useful information other than a soundless demo of a guy pumping water from a pool, applying an attachment to the inside of the unit that it did not come with!

『I haven't had this product for long so I can't report on it's long-term durability, but I am very pleased with the quality and useability, especially considering the price.

This package says only OEM, but the pump is branded Mityvac and I believe that it's sold under that name as well. The product appears to be designed and sold by Lincoln Industrial of St. Louis, MO. It is manufactured in China. See www.mityvac.com This set looks a lot like the model MV7000 with one fewer right-angle bleeder adapters. Note however that the MV7000 is rated to produce 25 PSI pressure. The OEM 25136 I received from Amazon can only develop 12 PSI (measured on two separate guages)

The set comes with a nice selection of adapters for attaching the pump lines to various vacuum ports and even some plugs for plugging hoses you've temporarily removed for testing.

Another accessory that's worth mentioning is a collection vessel that allows the pump to be used for bleeding brake systems or other small hydraulic control systems. It also has two different right-angle adapters for attaching to common automotive bleed fittings.

What I didn't expect is that the pump has a second port that can apply pressure. This could be useful for testing controls the require a pressure signal rather than a vacuum signal and can supply up to 12 PSI. By the way, the vacuum port can produce a 25"Hg vacuum as advertised.

The pump is very easy to operate to draw a vacuum or apply pressure, requiring only modest hand strength. It has a trigger that can be pulled to release the pressure/vacuum when you're done testing. The release is "all at once" and would be difficult to modulate if that was important. Drawing the vacuum can be done with reasonable precision. Applying pressure is less precise since it's developed by the strength of the pump handle's return spring. But can be modulated if necessary by taking small strokes with the pump.

Another unexpected plus is the user manual. It contains 23 well written pages that describe how to use the tool as well as diagnostic proceedures and some theory of operation for PCV valves, EGR valves, Spark Delay valves, electrical/vacuum solenoids, thermal controlled vacuum switching valves (called PVS, TIC, and DTVS by Ford, Chrysler, and GM respectively). The manual also has a section on brake bleeding as well as cautions when working with ABS systems. It even has a separate section dealing with motorcycle brakes and bench bleeding master cylinders. For some reason there are an additional three test procedures specifically for Lawn Boy mower primer bulbs, fuel inlet valve, and tank shut-off valve. The content is repeated in Spanish, French, and German for a total of 70 pages.

Even though I have a pretty good general understanding of the systems discussed in the manual, I actually learned quite a few tips and tricks that I didn't know. It was well worth the read.

One thing to note is that the documentation specifically prohibits the use of this pump with flammable liquids and gases. I suspect that this is more for safety and legal reasons than anything else. But, who knows, maybe the pump seals wouldn't handle the solvent power of gasoline or alcohols. Air and brake fluid are officially supported and that's what I bought it for anyway.』

This set comes with 3 filters that are basically identical to what came with the Roomba itself, plus one of the little spinning brushes that helps pull stuff out from corners and the wall (interestingly, with only 3 brushes to it instead of the 5 or 6 the original had), plus a beater bar and brush set. But the real gem here is the little red plastic brush cleaner. I don't know if this ships with the newer Roombas or not, but it should - this little thing is great. What you do with it is run the large brush through it and it strips all the fur, string, threads, etc. that get caught in the brush out and allows them to be thrown away all in one clump. No more picking all that stuff out of the brush by hand! Faster, better, and easier. Additionally, the brushes seem to be a better quality and do a slightly better job than the set that came with the Roomba - I'd imagine the folks at iRobot are always making design tweaks to things and it shows.』

(Great for Hardwood floors)
『I really like this mop. It was beyond easy to snap together an the pad just velcros on. The cleaning solution bottle does fall out of the unit some times but so far it has not really been an inconvenience. The mop seems much more durable then the swifer. I do like the swifer but I have had to replace due to handle breaking 3 times already! I also like that there are NO batteries to have to replace. The solution does leave a nice streak free cleam but you don't get that "clean" smell like you do with chemicals but it is safer for the enviornment and pets/children so I will forgo the smell. Replacement cartridges are pretty cheap and you can buy on line or at Bed Bath Beyond if you need right away. Overall a pretty good product!』

I then used hot and cold water with a sponge mop which did ok but still was not satisfied. The floors look like new again and the cleaner removed all the spots from spills/drips in the kitchen. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone with hardwood floors. As others stated the handle will eventually brake but it should last awhile. Another handle is easily substituted.』

    (Best Electic Shave Ever)
    『I had an earlier version of the Braun, which finally wore out. I upgraded to this model, and have not been dissapointed. I have a heavy beard, and find this shaver gives a close and comfortable shave. Even if I skip a day, it still gives a quick and comfortable shave. I am VERY happy and think it was well worth the investment.』

    (Not so good after a few years of use)
    『I purchased this shaver several years ago. For the first year or so I liked it a lot. I agree with most of the pros/cons of the other reviews, in brief, pro: close even shave, long battery life, cleaning stand is handy, can use corded or cordless, can clean manually; con: cleaning cycle is long and loud, shaver is loud (not so much at first, but more on this later).

    But there are some downsides that you don't see in the reviews.

    * I get maybe 4-5 months of use out of a head. Some original reviews said they'd last a year. New heads cost a fair amount.
    * The cleaning refills aren't cheap. They last only about a month at best, and shipping costs are significant w.r.t the overall price of a package of three.
    * The floating heads tend to come apart. They're held in place by two black plastic pieces that fit on either side of the head. After a month of use or so, these tend to come off when the head is released. They aren't so easy to fit back in, and tend to keep loosening. It becomes difficult to either cleanly release the head, or snap it fully back in.

    And the main thing is, the older the razor gets, the shorter the life of the cleaning heads. They don't fit as securely, and they tend to jam, and they start snagging on your beard or stalling, so you have to go really easy in order to ensure they keep cutting. So the overall life of the shaver doesn't seem so great.

    The end result is I pretty much have to replace this shaver after about three years. My previous shaver I had for over ten years, and while it didn't shave as well initially, it shaved decently all of its life. Basically I only replaced it because the rotary heads were getting more and more difficult to find.

    These are things you don't appreciate until after a year or so of use. The reviews I had read before buying the shaver were from people who'd had the shaver a few weeks, and were pretty effusive. And I liked it too, when I first got it. But you need to keep in mind when reading the reviews that by and large, these are people who've been using an old shaver who are now using a new one.

    So I can't really recommend this shaver.』
