(Unreliable Batteries make this a waste of money) 『I often wonder if Black&Decker hires professional reviewers to praise their vacuums on this website and other online retailers. I say this because the reviews tend to average 4 out of 5 stars (Amazon&Target), yet my experience with these Black&Decker models is the exact opposite. In my opinion, they are a waste of money. I've bought two different models (CHV1586 most recently) and these pieces of junk won't hold a charge for more than a minute after 3 months of consistent daily use. It's so frustrating, especially when the batteries are nearly impossible to find and can't be replaced for less than the price of a new vacuum. Avoid Black&Decker hand vacs! 』
(Excellent hand vac) 『I purchased three of these to replace three of the 14 volt versions. The 14 volt version only last me about two years and then the batteries started to go. Eventually I could only get a few minutes of suction. I attempted to buy new batteries but the best price I could find was $39.00 each. Not worth the cost given the cost of a new vacuum at ~$46 with shipping.
This new version works equally as well and is slightly smaller and lighter. It has an extension built into the inlet that is much easier to use when you want to get into tight spots. Unlike other reviews, I don't feel the inlet is smaller on this unit than my previous units. In fact, I feel the overall path into the dirt collection bin is a more direct path. Bear in mind we use these in the kitchen to pick up crumbs, in the bathroom to pick up hair etc and I have one in the garage for quick and light car cleanups so our needs are pretty light duty.
The suction is excellent and the units hold a charge longer than I have needed on any one job. The mounting plate and hook on the vacuum that connects the vacuum to the mounting plate is much better on this unit than the old ones.
While I understand built in product obsolescence, I am dissapointed that Black&Decker has not embraced a greener approach. Nothing was wrong with my old units and a simple battery replacement would have extended the use of my units considerably. Pricing the replacement batteries at or close to the price of a new unit is a sure way for Black&Decker to generate replacement sales every few years. If the battery was priced in the $20-$25 range and a recycle option was offered I would definatley have purchased new batteries. I am not excusing my own lack of greeness but for relatively close to the same cost I got a new vacuum, new batteries and a better designed unit.』
(A Terrific Small Vac) 『I had had battery-operated vac's before, but I kept losing the power supply. And they never seemed to have much power. That's not the case with this vac. It has plenty of power and has roved to be the best vac I have ever purchased for small job clean-up. I highly recommend it.』
(Programmed Battery Failure?) 『I'm on my third 15.6-volt DustBuster. they are guaranteed for two years, and that is just about exactly when the battery stops holding a charge. When new, the vacuum will run at least 10 minutes on a full charge. After 24 months, you're lucky to get 3 or 4 minutes on a full charge. I can't locate a good price on a replacement battery. Although, even if I could, it's nearly impossible to get at and remove the battery pack, and Black and Decker customer support tells you they can't help. They recommend taking it to a service center where they will gladly remove the battery for you. I did that, and the service center had a good laugh.
I've looked around at the website, and I don't see any reference to replacement batteries. It's obvious Black and Decker intends these vacuums to perform for two years and then be tossed in the trash. They ought to just get us to subscribe to the DustBuster Club -- for a $25 annual membership fee, they'll send a new vacuum every 24 months. (A definite MUST if you own a Shop Vac with an Inlet Tube) 『I purchased a new Contractor-grade 16-gallon Shop Vac for a big drywall dust clean-up job (to clean up my new 2400 sq. foot house that is being built), and wanted something that would do the job without clogging the vacuum filter and/or motor or spewing dust back into the air. I have destroyed vacuums in the past by sucking up drywall dust, and didn't want to see a brand new $140 Shop Vac bite the dust, no pun intended. The high efficiency Shop Vac bag seemed like a great option, especially because drywall dust clings to everything, and figured that I would go through multiple HEPA filters (if I opted not to use a collection bag) to clean up an entire house full of drywall dust.
The bottom line is that these "high efficiency" bags by Shop Vac are simply outstanding. After sucking over 40 lbs of drywall dust into this bag, I hardly noticed any loss of suction from the Shop Vac, and absolutely NO drywall dust made it onto the HEPA filter. There was also NO dust inside the canister - the inside of the canister didn't have a single spec of dust after 3 solid hours of vacuuming! These bags stop the drywall dust in its tracks, I would estimate that 97-99% of the dust is filtered by the bag itself. One bag was enough to take care of the entire 2400 sq. ft. house (covered in drywall dust), without stressing the Shop Vac motor.
I now use these bags for everything, even general cleaning of dry debris, as the bags keep the Shop Vac filters in superb shape and are very easy to remove and toss in the trash once full. You can fill these bags to the brim without your Shop Vac losing suction power, and won't need to worry about changing your filter out every few weeks, even from messy jobs. The bags are expensive, but WORTH it. If you use your Shop Vac sporadically for general clean up of dry debris (sawdust, dirt, drywall dust, etc.), 1 bag should last you several months, and you'll save $$ in not having to replace your cartridge filters. 1 cartridge HEPA filter costs as much as 2 bags.』

I don't understand why shippers can't take a little extra time to properly package tools so that they pretty much guarantee an undamaged arrival. (AMAZING!) 『I debated whether or not I should buy the handheld steamer along with the floor steamer when what I really needed was the floor steamer for general cleaning. WOW - am I glad I decided to buy both! I put the small round brush attachment on the handheld steamer, and began cleaning the grout on my tile floor. Let me just say that I like things neat and clean, but the grout in my floor is disgusting. I tried everything I knew to clean it without much success. The filth that came out of the grout was SO revolting. That said - it was also so satisfying! The one down side is that the handheld does not hold much water, so with 800 square ft. of tile, it is definitely a weekend job. The down side - you have to wait 3-5 mintues and unplug the steamer to refill the water. I used the floor steamer to clean up the dirt/filth left behind from the handheld. I LOVE this floor steamer! No trigger, no having to push down to create steam - just easy to use - plain and simple! Now - if this steamer stands the test of time, I will be thrilled! I previously owned the Shark floor steamer - it only lasted 6 months before it puked. The Haan WAY out-performs the Shark by a mile! LOVE IT!』

I got the Deluxe Total Home Cleaning System and I could not be happier. It easy to use, lightweight and does not soak the floor with excess steam like my old steam cleaner. Just a tip-At first I was reluctant about the floor cleaner because when you first use the steam cleaner on tile all the residue from previous floor soaps come up creating a white film. What I found is that as I continued to clean the floor with the Haan Steam floor cleaner my floors no longer show all the smudges and foot prints. The little cleaning system is great also. I use it to clean everything from the bathroom, base boards, grit and build up in the corners, stainless steel, windows to the tracks on my sliding glass doors. It is also awesome on flat stove tops. I love it. Not only is it a great product but I have saved so much money not buying cleaners (floor cleaner, wood cleaner, shower cleaner etc... It is a savings of about $28-35 a month.
