Having used this product, I knew in advance that it was excellent. The important things for me were price and delivery time -- both of which were great.
Believe these are better than the standard Hoover Allergen filtration bags. I use these in my Windtunnel and do not get the dust on the outside of the vacuum as occurs with the Allergen bags. Believe that may be due to the rubber gasket seal used with these bags rather than the standard cardboard that comes with others. The rubber seal also makes it easier to install. Little pricey but if you order in quantity and get free shipping work the money.
I bought these bags because a reconditioned Hoover I had recently purchased came with one in it. When I turned on the vac after several uses, it didn't spew dust into the air like my regular type Y bags do. That was the reason I purchased these bags. Having chronic asthma, I can't handle dust in any way w/o becoming very ill.

These bags don't smell of dust except when I'm slow changing them. They have a silicone type seal around the opening that really clings to the vac, thus preventing dust from escaping, especially when you first turn the vac on. I don't know why Hoover didn't put this type of seal on all their bags. It's really efficient for dust control.
I received the vacuum recently and I am very happy with it. I especially like the feature that shows if all the dirt has been removed. (the light changes from red to green) Often the carpet may look clean, but there is hidden dirt down in the fibers. Now, you can tell at once if the dirt is gone.

I originally purchased for myself a Roomba Dirt Dog, a Scooba Floor scrubber and the Roomba Vacuum. I love all three!! Especially the Dirt Dog. Had no idea how much dirt we were tracking in from the garage until it wasn't there. Being so pleased with these 3 I bought a 4th Roomba for the office. My assistant was taking it home with her on the weekends. Finally, when her birthday rolled around, bought her a Roomba for her birthday. She was thrilled. These robots pick up an amazing amount of dirt. You can throughly vacuum the carpet with an upright vacuum; go over it with the Roomba and it will pick up what the upright vacuum left behind. Can not say enough about these products. Customer service very helpful whenever I had a problem. Would definitely buy again.
It won't replace my Hoover, but it's a great sweeper. Picks up dog hair and surface dust while we're at work. The suction is too light to pull out the deep dirt, so we still vacuum weekly - but it beats vacuuming daily. Maneuvers well around the house and furniture, but pick up your loose stuff beforehand as it can get hung up on them. When it does get hung, it shuts itself off - this is a good thing. The proximity sensor works well, the Roomba slows down before bumping into walls, so no hard bounces. And it's always managed to find the dock when low on battery. Overall, I'm very happy with its performance, and having a robot do house work is just cool.
Bought a 530 six months ago at Big Lots for $199 (re-manufactured). This was $100 cheaper than a new one. My son has an earlier model and likes it, so thought what the heck we'll give it a try.

Mindful of the maintenance problems in the previous reviews I waited until now to write. I must say this little machine is an amazing piece of engineering, the only thing better would be an android, and that probably won't happen in my lifetime.

We've never had a single problem with this unit and we run it almost every day. Before the roomba, we were up to our necks in dog hair, everything our dog eats goes into manufacturing hair and it all winds up on our hard wood floors. Now, instead of dragging out the upright and all the attachments we just turn roomba loose and go do something else.

The battery life in this thing is amazing, it runs far longer than it takes to clean our 1700 sq ft home. Even after the docking light comes on it will run for a long time. Cleaning the roomba is easy and needs to be done after each use if you have pets if not you might get by with less frequent cleaning. You still need to use the old upright occasionally to get the places this won't. Nothing is perfect and it will get stuck once in awhile and I wish the docking station had more range, it needs to be within six or eight feet before it picks up the signal. All and all we are very happy with ours.

Is Roomba the greatest thing since sliced bread? Yup. I think so. I'd rather slice my own bread than give up my Roomba. Simple as that.

I live alone in a rather large two-story house with four bedrooms and three baths, along with two very furry cats and a dog that won't stop shedding. Needless to say, my place needed constant vacuuming, usually once a day. And if I left for a long weekend, the place would be a disaster when I returned. Not so with Roomba. I just push the button every morning as I leave and the house is cleaned when I get home. I have extensive hardwood floors, tile floors, wall-to-wall carpeting and throw rugs. The Roomba adjusts for all surfaces and cleans them equally well. No problem. And my oriental rugs with fringe aren't an issue with Roomba's anti-tangle capability. In short, it's an enormous timesaver and well worth the money.

Some have complained that the Roomba isn't as powerful as a regular canister or upright. True. Its suction is roughly the equivalent of an old Dust Buster. But it's very effective nonetheless because of an ingenious combination of brushes underneath that pop the dirt up and into the debris bin without the need of a powerful vacuum. Furthermore, the combination of vacuum and brushes can suck up debris the size and weight of most coins along with large clumps of mud and tangles of pet hair, perfectly adequate for most home needs. Others have complained that the Roomba is noisy. Not at all. In fact, it's far quieter than my regular vacuum--again, it's about as noisy as a battery-powered handheld vacuum. Still others maintain that it takes too much maintenance. Well, I haven't had any problems with my Roomba, and I've been using it almost daily for four months. Yes, you do have to clean it regularly. Unlike a canister vacuum that you can shut off and ignore, you may want to clean your Roomba almost every time. But the five minutes or so I spend emptying the debris bin and cleaning the roller bushes is nothing compared to spending an hour or two vacuuming the old way.

Things to be aware of: Be sure to clean the roller brushes thoroughly. I had trouble initially when my brushes stopped working after only a few weeks. I thought, "Oh, boy. Here we go. A faulty machine." But no. It was my fault. After calling the Roomba service line, I discovered that I hadn't read the instructions carefully and failed to clean the bearings on the side of the roller brushes. The bearings eventually became clogged with pet fur and stopped turning, causing my rollers to freeze up. After a little cleaning, the rollers were working again like new. Lesson learned.

I'm also careful to block off rooms I don't want vacuumed so my Roomba can do a more thorough job on those rooms I do want cleaned. You can either use the two battery operated "virtual walls" that come with the unit to prevent the Roomba from entering a room, or just close the doors. I usually rotate between my family room, kitchen and hallways in one cleaning; the dining room, living room and library in the next. I also use my Roomba upstairs to clean the bedrooms and baths in a similar rotation. Again, such rotations may seem like a lot of work to clean the whole house, but I'd much rather spend the minute or two moving my Roomba between the upstairs and downstairs than to spend an hour or more vacuuming.

Sure, Roomba can't do stairs and it can't quite reach into the corners. But while my Roomba is busy cleaning the rest of my house, I can take the few minutes to vacuum the stairs and hit the corners with the regular vacuum. Again, a huge time savings. Do the pets mind? Not at all. After running it the first time, my cats and dog became completely bored and now ignore it whenever it's working. It doesn't bother them in the least.

I bought the 530 model have been absolutely delighted with it. And though I don't have the lighthouses to guide it back to its recharging station, my Roomba usually finds its way back all by itself anyway. And if it doesn't and runs out of juice somewhere else, it's hardly a chore to move it back to its base for recharging. After a couple of hours or so, it's fully charged and ready to go again. While I haven't timed it, I'd guess my Roomba runs for at least 90 minutes, maybe longer. I think the battery may run down faster if the brushes are full of cat hair. So I'm careful now to clean the brushes every time.

After a while, it just becomes a habit to turn on my Roomba every time I leave the house. It's such an amazing convenience and it actually works. My girlfriend, who has terrible allergies, has noticed how much cleaner my house is now. And while my Roomba doesn't have a HEPA filter, its filter does pick up an amazing amount of dust--making the entire house much more breathable and dust-free.

Like a lot of people, I was fairly skeptical when I first invested in my Roomba. But I'm not anymore. This is an amazing machine that does exactly as advertised. And I am thrilled at how easy it is to operate and maintain, and how simple it is to develop an entirely new vacuuming routine.

Any drawbacks? Well, wouldn't it be wonderful if my Roomba could do stairs? Or reach those corners? Or make my bed? Or do the laundry? Or clean the dishes? Sure. But as it is, it's simply great--and well worth the investment. I can recommend this machine enthusiastically.

The Roomba is great. It's fun to watch and it's so nice to let someone else do the bothersome task. I chose the 530 model because I wanted the more advance cleaning system, but didn't need some of the automatic and advanced features. Although it came with the virtual wall devices, we've never used them. It' much easier to close a door or put some other barrier to keep the unit where we want it.

After only 2 months, it broke. It would run for 10 seconds and then shut itself off, incessantly telling us to clean the brushes. The staff on the customer service line quickly diagnosed the issue and sent a replacement unit. The replacement was well documented and easy to install. While we're back up and working, I have no confidence that this unit will last much longer than the warranty.

When considering your purchase, I think you have to look at the time you spend vacuuming and factor that into the price. From what I've read in other posts and my own experience, I think you should only expect to get a year or two out of this product. Given the amount of time that I save vacuuming, I'm OK with the short lifespan of the device. I would much prefer a unit that had better longevity. These guys build robots for war zones, so I'm wondering why they don't ruggedize their products better.

I was really pleased with this sweeper til I had the same issues as other reviewers of the charger failing after a few short months. The functionality of the sweeper was fine enough but after replacing two in a year, I'm moving on....

Does a great job for the price picks up small stuff great for kitchen and bathrooms. Holds a good charge, and is easy to empty. Very happy with purchase.
What no one seems to mention is the vacuum only lasts for a few minutes before the suction dies off. The vacuum only lasts about 4 months before the battery will not keep a charge. These are very cheap to make so they make the money on the refill pads and keep you in the cycle of buying a new vacuum every couple of months.
This is the best for all wood and tile floors. Easy to use and no stooping or bending. I love it and I have tried a lot of products over the years.

Seems to fit and work just as well as the Kenmore branded filters. I should point out, however, that my family has no asthmatic or allergic members, so I can't speak to air quality resulting from the filtration.

This is a two-pack of HEPA filters. At first, from the description, I wasn't totally sure if it included two, but it does. Shipping was fast, and they're just as they were described. Cheapest price I've found. I will buy these again.
As the the title says, these filters are absolutely identical to the filter that shipped with my Kenmore vacuum, down to the numbers printed on the side.

This filter is designed to fit Kenmore uprights using a HEPA filter (86889). Kenmore uprights are actually manufactured by Panasonic for Sears, so this filter will fit all Panasonic uprights using a HEPA filter also. This HEPA filter is imperative for homes with allergies are breathing issues. The acronym HEPA stands for "High Efficiency Particulate Air". These advanced filters are a very important upgrade on today's vacuum cleaners, as they force air through microscopic screens, capturing even the smallest of particles such as dust mites, pollen, animal dander, and even most bacteria. After 1 year of usage (average homes, more sensitive homes should replace more often the once a year) these microscopic screens become blocked with the particles, which forces your vacuum's motor to work harder and harder to force the air through the filter. The more often you replace these filters, the longer the vacuum will last. The filter measures; 6"L x 3.85"W x .5"H.

These bags are just as good as my original Kenmore bags. These may even be better because they have a little plastic flap that you can use to cover the hole when you take the bag off. I will keep buying these bags instead of the original (much higher priced) Kenmore bags.
These are not the heavy-duty filtration bags, however, they are built well. Good solution for everyday cleaning with weekly bag changes. We have a Lab and a cat. Good bang for the buck.

Product works fair, but does not perform as well as the Kenmore fabric bags (for the Kenmore Progressive Upright model #35922). Bag fills up in half the time and the Performance Indicator on my vacuum lights up occasionally when the bag is half full. Just ignore the light and keep vacuuming! Overall for the GREAT PRICE and the great service it's worth it, doesn't break the bank and gets the job done.

These little pads pick it right up. I searched the internet for a competitive price and this is the one! Shipped right out to me and they are the same quality as the initial ones I got with the steam mop. You can't go wrong with these!
I'm sure these are just fine. Problem is it isn't what I ordered however I opened it so couldn't return it to you. I went online somewhere else and actually got what was pictured and ordered.
I tried this steam mop and love it. The floor gets really clean in less time. The only down side is you need at least 4 mop head. Perhaps if you did laundry more than twice a month it would be fine with two but I feel better having extras. The heads attach really easily and the laundering is great. I would have loved this product when I had crawling babies at home as I know the floor is really clean.
These arrived in perfect condition shortly after I placed the order. They fit my Shark Mop and were MUCH cheaper than buying them locally. Excellent and prompt service.
I had a huge expensive canister style steam cleaner that I dragged around my house a few times...it left the floor wet and I had to sop up the extra water with beach towels.The shark does an awesome job. I have a huge, old farmhouse that has 90+ years of dirt embedded in the old varnished floors. I have used the shark several times since I purchased it and it really gets the old dirt out of the floor. It is easy to do my wood steps and it really cleaned up the old linoleum "rug" that I have in my kitchen. It has made my life easier and my home a great deal cleaner! I highly recommend this product.

I spent a lot of time trying to find a vacuum for my 14 month old, who likes our real one. After a lot of debate, I ended up with this one...why? because it is bigger/taller (25" high) than the other ones I saw, doesn't talk, doesn't need batteries and was nicely priced at ToysRus. It makes a soft whirr/vrooom sound when you push it, the little beads in the see thru canister bobble around when it is pushed and it seems as close to a real one as I could find that was age appropriate. It does take a little oomph to push (like the mowers as opposed to the lightweight ball poppers) so I would say it is geared for a 1+ year old who is walking pretty well. Of course, you can also drag it on the floor :) The handle lays flat when not in use, it sort of stands ups but doesn't lock in (none of the toy vacs seem to do that). Overall, I'm satisfied with it and so is my daughter.

I am a mother of 5 and have both wood and tile in my house. This has saved me so much time and is so easy my teenage daughters can do it. I love that it dries right away so my floors can stay clean LOL. My kids have always disliked cleaning the floors as their chores. (Now they beg for that chore, as it is so easy) If you have slate or uneven floors it doesnt work that well but if your floors are smooth they will soon be clean as well.
I made the mistake of letting my mother keep my original Floormate. I had it for 4 years and she has had it for the last 2 years - and it is still going strong. I went to buy a new one when I moved across the country, only to find the original having been "improved". After 1 year with the 500, the suction completely gave out on me. I had it repaired. 8 months later, the same thing happened again. The quality on this new model is nowhere near what it was on the original. I have come to love the convenience of the Floormate, so I will be trying a different model. Hopefully that one will fare better than this one did.
I purchased this product a couple of years ago and used it for about a year. I recently disposed of it because it was taking up too much room in my closet since it stopped working. I have gone back to using my mop!

Theoretically it's a great idea - an appliance that vacuums and mops your floor! Practically here's what you do: you drag it out, plug it in, vacuum, clean out the receptacle of dirt, fill the reservoir with the cleaner, "mop" the floor, empty out the receptacle of dirty water, rinse it out and keep it for drying, rinse out the lint filter, and put it all away. With my mop here's what you do: You fill a bucket with water, get the mop out, mop the floor, rinse out the mop a couple of times, and put the mop away. Basically it's about the same amount of work except maybe you use a *little* more energy to mop.

But here's the main reason for my rating: after a year of use, water started to puddle on the floor and the unit lost it's mopping function which is what I used it for mainly. It just sat in my closet since I didn't want to mail the vacuum back to Hoover and pay shipping costs to fix it. I finally got rid of it last week
I sold floormates along with other cleaning tools for a couple of years but I wasn't able to see them in action.....so I relied on customer's reports. Some customers told me that this was an excellent product and I never had one returned. I finally gave in and purchased one a few months ago. It was easy to set up out of the box.

I have ceramic tile throughout the house. I also own a Flip-it and it did a terrible job and took forever to clean the large area. I tried the dry vac on the Floormate and I was shocked to see it pick all the dirt it came into contact with....as well as loose hairs instead of blowing them around. So I went over the entire floor very satisfied with that feature. Then I tried the wash feature. My pup had dirty paw prints all over the floor and I was looking forward to testing the Floormate on them. And again the unit prevailed and removed the dirt. And amazingly I did the entire floor never needing the wet/dry (wet pickup) feature, the floor was drying as I was washing....squeegee did an excellent job. So I poured water on the floor to test the wet vac and it picked it up immediately...once again pleased. The tank fills up just about the time I finish so there is no need for running back and forth to the sink. The floor was shiny and smelled clean.

Now the downside with MY unit.... there is none. But a friend purchased one and it isn't nearly as good as mine (where I dropped 1 star). I tried it out and the dry vac seemed similar to mine....but it didn't clean the floor as well and the wet/dry (wet pickup) feature still didn't dry the floor completely after washing....which was a function that I didn't really need on my Floormate. I tried to convince him to take it back because it's my assumption that it's a faulty unit but they kept it anyways. So there's my suggestion, if it doesn't seem to get the job done take it back...it could just be the unit.
I have read all the reviews on this page and several other blogs on the internet. I knew what cons to look for, and to be honest, I didn't find any. The first time I used it, I did take it very slow and went with the length of the boards (not across the boards). I couldn't believe the dirt it picked up -- I thought my floor was "clean" when I started. (I used warm tap water and vinegar)

I could see some of the cons people were stating if you went too fast. If you are WASHING your floors -- there is nothing better! Even if you have to take it a little slower(than regular vaccuming) - It still beats getting on my hands and knees scrubbing the floors or mopping the floors. It is soo much easier on your back and arms! Also, I think the tank sizes are perfect, I wouldn't want them any bigger - that would just make the size of the cleaner bigger and bulkier. This fits in my coat closet with my vaccum cleaner.

I wish I had bought this years ago. I highly recommend it - just don't rush it.

P.S. It also worked great on my bathroom floor--getting up the hairspray!

I think it's fantastic. I like the portability, but wish there was a place to carry a second battery, given how far I have to walk/climb to some of the places where I use it. Otherwise it is a vac to fall in love with. I'm a little worried about the longevity of the connection between the hose and the body of the vac, as the connection mode seems vulnerable to easy breakage. Time will tell, I guess.
Great suction power! Runs on NiCad and Lithuim Ion 18 volt batteries.Very handy. I use often for jobs where running a extension cord would be inconvenient. An example is vacuuming loose concrete and dirt before calking a sidewalk crack. Good runtime!!!!
Overall I am happy with this 18v cordless wet/dry vac. I keep it in the trunk and us it for car spills or when the dog gets car sick. Easy enough to hose off the container for cleaning. Vac suction is pretty decent for a cordless, way more powerful than a dustbuster but still not shopvac strength.
The only problem is that it only keeps a 10min 48sec charge. I tested using 2 charged batteries for comparison and the vac stopped around the same time. So if you require longer than 10 minutes, then I would recommend buying a 24v battery instead of the 18 v battery. Yes, even though it states here on amazon as a 18v cordless, this vac also takes 24v batteries.

It, as everything here, abuts the other parts, so has to have collers made to get gates, PVC etc to fit to it, but that just seems to be the deal with all of this dust control stuff. I used 8 of these in my system and they all stood up to the abuse that it took to get all of them tight.

THIS ITEM MAKES IT A SNAP TO REDUCE THE DIAMETER OF YOUR FLEX HOSE IN AN EXISTING DUST COLLECTION SYSTEM.

IF YOUR APPLICATION REQUIRES A SMALLER DIAMETER HOSE (LIKE EXISTING PORTS THAT ARE BUILT INTO MITER-SAWS, ETC), THIS WILL ALLOW YOU TO TAP INTO YOUR EXISTING SYSTEM THAT HAS THE LARGER DIAMETER HOSE.

I use this product attached to a benchtop spindle sander's 2" outlet to step UP to a 4" dust collector hose. While it does work, what's not apparent from the description or the picture is that it's actually made in 2 pieces. In fact, I never noticed this myself until it came apart. Since it first happened, vibration periodically pops it apart again. Easily fixable with a little glue, but were it designed properly to begin with, it would never happen.
It's a piece of plastic, bigger on one side than the other. I just wish for my application it was 4" ID and not 4"OD

(Very good until the bottom came off)

I bought three of these mugs because I liked them so much. In a month the bottom liner broke on two of them. This was with normal daily use, no dishwasher. I tried holding it together with a rubber band, but the bottoms continued to crack until the mug was useless.
I would recommend not purchasing one until the bottom seal is redesigned to last more than a month or two.

Great mug, fit well in the car, and the lid stayed on - all was good until the bottom came off in the dishwasher after a dozen uses. I can't get the bottom back on and can no longer use the mug.

Vacuum Flowers is a grand tour of the inhabited Solar System, set in a medium-term future. The book opens in Eros Kluster, one of many asteroid-based settlements that form the bulk of Human space, after all of humanity on Earth was absorbed into the Comprise, a world-wide AI- and net-mediated group-mind. The Klusters are frontier-capitalist polities, more or less, with advanced biotech and neuro-engineering -- most people spend their workday wetware-programmed by their employer, a (more or less) reversible process. There is, umm, 'potential for abuse', and Swanwick has fun exploring the consequences of this technology. For example, a police raid wouldn't require many police -- temp-deputies could be imprinted on the spot...

People's Mars, an unappealing collectivist state based on classical Sparta, is nonetheless making good progress terraforming Mars. The cislunar settlements, a no-man's-land between Humanity and the Comprise, are the dark anarchic Mean Streets. And the remote Dyson settlements in the Oort are bucolic biophile semi-utopias, offstage. Swanwick notes that he "tried to display a range of plausible governmental systems throughout the System, all of them flawed the way that governments are in the real world..." Nicely done, one of the highlights of Vacuum Flowers.

Oh, and the Flowers are pretty little plants, engineered to live in the vacuum&eat garbage, that have become a weedy nuisance -- another nice touch. Swanwick is, surprisingly, one of the few SF authors who've borrowed Freeman Dyson's remarkable biotech space-settlement ideas. Dyson is an extraordinarily inventive and graceful scientist-writer, and I seldom miss a chance to recommend his books. You'll find my review of his fine The Sun, The Genome, and The Internet: Tools of Scientific Revolution (Nypl/Oup Lectures) (see sidebar).

This was Swanwick's second novel, and first really successful one. Despite some rough spots -- notably, the cyberpunkish opening --Vacuum Flowers remains an exemplary modern space-opera, one of the best in the extraordinary reinvention of my favorite subgenre during the past two decades. I've now read VF three times (1987, 1993,&2000), and I expect to enjoy it again in 2007 or so. Highly recommended.
